"Pidgeottoo, An evolved form of the Pidgey. It is armed with sharp claws and dives from the sky to capture its prey. Unlike the more gentle pidgey. Pidgeottoo can be dangerous. Approach with extreme caution."
Ash put away his Pokedex and reached for his Pokeball. "Alright pidgeotto, I'll show you who is the dangerous one around here," He smirked brimming with confidence. He didn't care if it was dangerous. He was going to catch every different Pokemon in the world.
"Pokeball go," Ash proclaimed with a swift throw of his Pokeball.
He was shocked when the Pidegeotto simply knocked the Pokeball away with a flick of its wing. Causing him to groan in disappointment.
"Ash, don't you remember what the pokedexes said with Pidgey?" Alex asked hoping he will remember the tip for himself.
"You don't get it, do you. You don't just throw a Pokeball and capture a Pokemon. You have to battle it and weaken it first," Misty nagged him before she continued. "The only reason you and Alex got to catch Caterpie and Weedle is that that they are already weaklings."
"Stop being rude," Alex said smacking Misty on the head, but not too hard.
"I know what I'm doing, and you'd better stop picking on Caterpie!" Ash shouted annoyed. "Now if you'd keep your big MOUTH shut, you'd see how it's done," He picked up Caterpie's Pokeball from the stump.
"You positive about that because it looks like your going to make a bad choice," Alex stated noticing he was about to send out Caterpie.
"I got this Alex," Ash said throwing the football in his hand. "Go Caterpie!" He shouted sending out Caterpie.
Pikachu, Twilight, and Misty gasp as Caterpie came out. Alex sigh wishing he would of listen to her. Caterpie is a worm Pokemon and Pidgetto was just eating a worm.
"See I know what I'm doing," Ash said smugly.
"You have no idea of the mistake you just made, do you," Misty said annoyed with the red hat-wearing trainer's stupidity.
"Did I do something wrong?" Ash asked confused.
"Ash look at your Pokemon and you see," Alex said looking over at Caterpie.
Caterpie was crawling for its life from the wild Pidgetto that flew right behind it. Caterpie was so scared that it was crying as it tried to get away. Pidgeotto kept flying up and swooping back down to try to catch Caterpie in its claws. Caterpie was barely able to dodge the attempts of the burd Pokemon.
"Caterpie, counter-attack," Ash instructed.
Caterpie tried to stand firm but it ended up tackled by Pidgetto and slammed into a tree painfully. At this point, Pidgeotto was closing in on its prey.
"Quick call it back," Misty instructed Ash.
"Huh?" Ash asked before he understood what she said. He then pulled out Caterpie's Pokeball. "Caterpie return."
A red beam of light exited the button on the poke all and struck Caterpie, bringing it safely into the Pokeball right before Pidgeotto could get it, causing Pidgeotto to collide into the tree.
With Pidgeotto's beak stuck in the tree trunk, Ash made his next move.
"Pikachu, go," He instructed his yellow partner.
"Pi," Pikachu charged into action with determination.
Pidegotto had finally freed itself from the tree to tried to fly away.
"Pikachu, Thundershock now!" Ash called out.
Pikachu released its electricity towards Pidgeotto, it struck the flying type in midair, causing damage and what looked like paralysis.
Ash used this chance to throw a Pokeball. "Pokeball, go!" He cried out.
This time Pidgeotto went inside the Pokeball. As it landed on the ground tension entered the air. Ash stared in anticipation as it wiggled on the ground until after a few seconds the Pokeball ceased its movement and let out an echoing beep, signaling the successful capture.
"YES! I caught Pidgeotto!" Ash cried out with a smile, flashing a peace sign with his hand.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu followed Ash's pose, equally happy.
"I am the greatest." Ash bragged as he walked up to Misty.
"You're the worst," Misty argued. "You have no idea what you're doing. It'll be a long time before you're a Pokemon Master. Like a million years."
Ash was a bit put off by her words. "Ugh. I'm trying to-"
Misty interrupted him. "You should try to learn a little bit more about pokemon. With Pokemon, you've got to use strategy. Pidgeotto is a bird and Caterpie is a worm. Birds eat worms, Mr. Pokemon Master," Misty explained, visibly becoming more irritated with each word.
"Well if you try hard enough, things will work out, won't they?" Ash justified weakly.
Alex sweatdropped at Ash's comment. Normally she would defend her brother, but Misty has a point. Ash recklessness endangered his Pokemon, and with his response, he clearly doesn't understand that. He needed to hear this before his Pokemon seriously get hurt.
Misty continued to press the matter. "No, Ash. I'm afraid things won't just work out if you try hard enough!" She yelled getting more and more in his face with each step. "The Pokemon trainer's judgment is more important than anything else, and unfortunately for you, the trainer has to have a brain!"
'That was cold, but sadly it is true. He never thinks before he acts. That's why mom wanted us to travel together. So I could keep an eye on him. Through I guess it not that bad traveling together. Even if I prefer traveling alone.' Alex thought.
Ash was getting so nervous from all her shouting that he was starting to visibly shake.
"So we meet again," A familiar make voice spoke from out of nowhere.
"I know that voice," Ash realized upon hearing it.
"Yeah back at the Pokemon center," Alex said recalling the incident with the Pokemon thieves.
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all people within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Not this again," Ash muttered.
"So it is them again," Alex fully recognized those voices and faces.
"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light."
"Meowth that's right!"
"Uh, we're kind of busy now-" Ash tried to explain before Jessie cut him off.
"Quiet, little boy. We're not here to listen to you. We're here to get your Pokemon."
"Hand over the Pikachu and Eevee!" James demanded as he and Jessie pointed towards the Pokemon in question.
"I will never give Twilight to you three!" Alex shouted.
"They're our Pokemon. Go find your own!" Ash shouted.
"The only Pikachu and Eevee we want are them," Jessie stated.
"We're only looking for the rarest most valuable Pokemon in the world, kid," James remarked.
"And that special Eevee and Pikachu are just the Pokemon we need," Jessie continued.
Neither of them got to continue as Meowth started scratching their faces in annoyance. "You idiots, stop giving away all our secrets," Meowth said as he continued to assault them for their blabbing.
"Are our Pokemon really that special?" Ash asked.
Meowth then explained about the two Pokemon having power. That normally wouldn't have been reached until evolving to their next form. Before he could continue to give any more information, James and Jessie started to step on Meowth to shut him up.
"Now, you're the one giving away all our secrets!" Jessie fumed.
"Shut up before you tell them everything," Janes said.
"I'm in charge! Cut it out!" Meowth shouted tired of being stepped on.
"Make things easy and hand over your Pikachu and Eevee," Jessie ordered.
"Not happening," Alex said with her arm crossed.
"Forget it," Ash told Team Rocket as he turned his head away, also not willing to give up his Pokemon.
"Then you leave us no choice," James humphed as he and Jessie held up their pokeballs.
"Pokemon battle! Ekans, go!" Jessie declared as she released her snake Pokemon.
"Koffing go get them," James ordered, following his teammate's action.
"Koffing..." "Ekans..." The two poison types said upon being released.
"Hey, two against one, that's cheating," Ash complained.
"All is fair in love, war, and Pokemon battles," Jessie remarked, clearly not caring about the Pokemon league rules.
"I think that saying is rotten and so are you," Ash retireed, very annoyed.
"Of course we are, We're the bad guys," James responded unphased by being called rotten.
"Yep right about that," Alex muttered obviously they are bad guys. If they are stealing people Pokemon.
"Well if they're going to use two Pokemon. Then I don't see why we can't use two Pokemon," Misty suggested logically.
"But the Pokemon League rules say only one at a time," Ash said.
"Ash, if you follow the rules you're going lose all your Pokemon," Misty said not believing he was being stubborn about this. She was pretty it was fine not to follow the rules for a situation like this.
"This isn't the time to argue," Alex pointed out. She knew Team Rocket wouldn't wait for someone to say begin the battle.
"Koffing, Sludge attack, now," James ordered as the floating round Pokemon released a mess sludge of slime from its mouth, nailing both Eevee and Pikachu faces. The two Pokemon attempted to rub it off their eyes, but it was no good. Team Rocket knew that they couldn't battle if they couldn't see. Seeing how far they would going to go, the twins picked up their Pokemon and turned to Misty.
"Misty, we don't know what going to happen, so, for now, we're counting on you to keep Eevee and Pikachu safe," Alex told Misty.
Misty was surprised at what she just said. The same girl who had been annoyed at her for being mean to her brother was now looking at her with pleading eyes, asking her to protect her Pokemon along with her brother's.
"They might try anything to get what they want," Ash said now having a clear idea of how low these crooks were. "But no matter what happens, don't let them have Pikachu or Eevee, Understand?"
"But what about the other two?" Misty asked as she took the Pokemon from their arms.
"So, what's your big battle plan," Jessie taunted smugly.
That was a good question. Ash knew he had to think of one through. 'I can't send out Caterpie. It's still too weak from the last battle.' Ash thought to himself. And since Pikachu was blinded, that left him only one other option.
"Pidgeotto, go!" Ash called out, releasing his newly caught Pokemon.
"Koffing, it's grime time," James told his Pokemon.
"Koffing." Koffing floated up to where Pidgetto was in the sky attempting to sludge the flying Pokemon. Luckily Pidgetto was fast enough to dodge the unpleasant slime.
"Ekans, go get your dinner," Jessie ordered.
"Ekan," Ekans hissed as it tempted to bite his Pidgeotto as it flew down only to miss as well.
"Pidgeotto, Quick Attack," Ash instructed. With this order, Pidgeotto began to increase its speed significantly as it flew down. It almost looked like Pidgeotto was catching fire, it was so fast.
"Ekans, go underground."
Following Jessie's orders, Ekans dove below ground, forcing Pidgeotto to halt its Quick Attack as its target was now gone. This gave Koffing a chance to sneak behind Pidgeotto. Ash was quick to catch this, however.
"Pidgeotto, behind you! Watch out," The red hat trainer warned.
As Koffing blew its smog towards the bird Pokemon, Ash's warning had made Pidgeotto aware enough to blow it away with its wings. Next, Koffing tried a barrage of sludge attacks, which Pidgeotto skillfully dodged. However, Ekans rose out from underground while the flying type was busy. As it dove to attack, Pidgeotto narrowly dodged and flew into the air.
"We're gonna get a Pokemon! We're gonna get a Pokemon!" Team Rocket cheered while waving fans around in a goofy dance, believing that they had it in the bag.
Despite Pidgeotto's speed, Koffing and Ekans we're able to float and leap after it in the air.
"Counter attack, now," Ash ordered.
Pidegotto tried to do so, but Koffing and Ekans proved to be too quick and stuck first, delivering serious damage.
Seeing that it couldn't go on much longer. Ash called Pidgeottoo back to its Pokeball."Pidgeotto, return!"
"Ugh. I'll show you!" Ash then ran up to the team of criminals.
"All right! Let's go! Put'em up!" Ash shouted while trying to land a hit, but all James had to him away at arm length to avoid his hits.
"Ha! What a fool," Meowth mocked."In a Pokemon battle, only the Pokemon can fight each other."
"Buzz off," James said before knocking Ash back with a flick of a finger.
"Guess you have no choice. Let Pikachu and Eevee in and watch Team Rocket win."
The Pokemon in question both whined, wanting to fight for themselves, but Misty just quieted them while trying to wipe the junk from before away from their eyes."No, neither of you can battle in this condition." Pikachu and Twilight knew she was right, Unless they could see their targets, the odds of them winning were slim. Still, they wished that they could do something.
Someone was going to have to step in to help. With that said Alex knew there was only one option." Ash, let me battle too. We'll have better odds with an even number," she told her brother.
"But the rules," Ash started but Alex cut him off pretty quickly.
"Yes, the rules say one on one. I know, I know," Alex stated, having heard this earlier from him. She honestly thought it wasn't the time to worry about that, but Ash was set on fair and square, so she would just have to use a loophole. "Then let's do two one on ones. You take on one of these clowns and I'll take on the other. Two Pokemon battles going on at the same time isn't considered against the rules, now it?" She stated.
Ash thought about it for a moment before nodding hesitantly. "I guess that'll work. But Eevee and Pikachu still can't fight and my Pidgeotto just got beat."
"We still have one Pokemon each," Alex reminded. "This is our last chance to protect our Pokemon."
With that, the twins gave each ther a nod before reaching for their Pokeballs.
"Caterpie, I know you're still weak from battling Pidgeotto. But, now, Caterpie, You're my only hope," Ash said to Caterpie's Pokeball. "Just give it your very best shot.
"You and Caterpie are our last line of defense, Stinger. So don't hold back and give it all you got." Alex stared at Stinger's Pokeball with determination.
With a firm throw, Ash and Alex sent out their final Pokemon.
"Caterpie, go!"
"Show 'em what you got, Weedle!"
The Pokeballs opened to reveal Caterpie and Weedle. Weedle glared at Team Rocket, ready for a fight but looked over and saw Caterpie panting and covered in scratches. Weedle looked at Caterpie wondering if it was alright.
All three thieves sweatdropped at seeing the chosen Pokemon.
It's a couple of bugs. Measly little bugs," Meowth said surprised. After that was said, All three of the bad guys burst out laughing.
"Let's get the bug spray," Jessie remarked in laughter, causing Stinger to growl. He was already fed up with bug Pokemon being dissed by Misty, and it didn't need more from these goons.
Koffing and Ekans began to charge, Making Caterpie duck its head in fear. Stinger tried to stand tall but was sweating nervously, unsure if they could win.
Pikachu and Twilight heard what was happening and cried out for their Pokemon friends from Misty's arms.
"Pika!" "Vee!"
"Hang in there," Misty whispered. She may not like bugs, but she didn't want them to get hurt by these creeps.
Team rocket's Pokemon were closing in. Suddenly Alex had an idea of what to do. Alex nodded at her brother signaling to follow her lead.
"Stinger, string shot!" Alex followed with Ash Caterpie doing the same.
Both bug Pokemon stood up tall and ready. Koffing zoomed in, but Caterpie shot widespread silk from its mouth, Completely encasing it in the sticky thread. Ekans tried to strike only for its head to get wrapped up in a string shot by Stinger. After that, Weedle and Stinger charged together and knocked the cocooned Koffing right into Ekans, sending the two poison-types flying past their masters.
"Beaten by Weedle and Caterpie," James said in shock at what he saw happen.
"That really bugs me," Jessie muttered grimly as she turned to the trainers.
With the other two out of the battle, Meowth decided to step up to the plate. "Now watch a real Pokemon in action." Meowth flashed its claws to appear dangerous, but the two bug Pokemon immediately sprayed it with string shot, wrapping it up tightly in a way that made it look like a mummy.
Seeing that they had no more tricks to use, Jessie and James simply grabbed Meowth and got ready to flee.
"It's time Team Rocket blasted off," Jessie admitted bitterly before they made a run for it.
"You may have won this round, but we'll be back," James called back one last time, still running away.
"Come back any time. We'll be glad to beat you," misty told them, sticking her tongue out.
When Ash realized that they had one their first Pokemon battle, he started jumping up and down in glee. Alex smiled enjoying that they could now relax.
The twins then picked up their respective bug types to congratulate them.
"That was great, Weedle. You really showed them who's boss," Alex praised while rubbing Stinger's head.
Ash held caterpie gently, giving it praises of his own.
"Caterpie, I'm very proud of you. You really did your best and we won because of you."
"You two are tougher than you look," Misty told the bug-types with a smile.
"Is there anything else you want to say to them, Misty?" Alex asked with a raised brow.
Misty understood what she was saying." I'm... sorry for the things I said before." she said looking back at Caterpie and Stinger.
Hearing that really lifted Caterpie's spirit. Stinger had its doubts, but decided to give Misty another chance.
Pikachu and Eevee gave their own praises to the bug types, now that enough slime was removed from their eyes for them to see.
"Well misty, I guess you feel different about Caterpie and Weedle now," Ash said holding ou Caterpie to her.
Misty started to stutter. She may have apologized, but she still wasn't comfortable around them.
"You apologized, so why don't you make up. Just pat them on the head and thank them for a good job."
Misty started quivering slightly.
"They won't hurt you," Alex assured her before turning her eyes to Weedle."Isn't that right Stinger?" She was well aware that Stinger wasn't a fan of Misty', so best to make sure. Luckily Stinger gave a small nod in confirmation.
"You like Pokemon, so it's only right to congratulate one for a good job," Ash urged Misty.
Misty thought about it for a second. "I guess you're right." She reached out her hand slowly in effort to make herself touch them, but then they both started spraying their thread. Misty jumped Back in fright. The twins set Caterpie and Stinger down, not understanding what they were doing.
"They're evolving," Misty realized.
"Awesome," Alex said impressed they were evolving.
"This is so amazing!" Ash proclaimed.
The silk spraying soon stopped revealing a green hard shelled Pokemon that sort of resembled a crescent moon shape in Caterpie's place and a dark yellow bumpy shelled Pokemon in Stinger's. Alex and Ash checked their Pokedexes, learning that the green one was called Metapod and the yellow one was Kakuna, they also found out that they both normally evolve this fast.
"Maybe that means they can evolve to the next stage right away," Ash suggested optimistically.
"Eev-Eevee." "Pi Pika Pi."
The two starter Pokemon remembered the conversation they had with the bug-types the night before. They were both now a step closer to their dreams.
When Ash held Metapod in front of Misty, she screamed like she did when she first saw the bug-types.
"Misty, you guys were about to make friends." Ash reminded her. "You didn't forget, did you?"
Misty was fumbling with her words when a Beedrill flew right past her, scaring her out of her wits. "I'll do anything. Let's just get out of this forest!"
"No way, there are still plenty of Pokemon in this forest," Ash told her before running ahead with Metapod in his backpack.
"Here he goes running off," Alex ran up to her brother with her newly evolved Stinger tucked into her own backpack. Pikachu and Twilight ran after their trainers, looking forward to whatever else awaits in this forest.
"Hey wait for me," Misty cried out, realizing they might leave her behind.
Misty was trying to keep up, but all the two twins could think about our the new Pokemon they can catch along the journey.
