Chapter 4- The Second Piece

Earth-217, the Village

Sherlock staggered down a snowy pathway. His wound had somehow started to close already, but it still hurt. The cold started eating into his bones.

"Sherlock?"

He turned to see John standing next to a carriage, looking at him in shock and relief.

"Watson, my good man!" Sherlock greeted through gritted teeth. "I thought I'd lost you."

"How did you escape the Lords?" John asked, rushing over to his friend and helping him sit on a rock.

"I used tactical thinking." Sherlock replied.

"Oh ho, I see you've brought a friend!" a cheery voice said. Sherlock looked up to see an incredibly obese man sitting in the carriage.

"This is the Duke," John gestured to him. "He's a friend. On our side. He's the one who told me you were captured."

"You are helping us?" Sherlock asked him.

"Anything for my clients." The Duke replied, smirking.

"I learnt that the device we're looking for is here in the Village," John said. "It's an orb of power."

"Who were the people who captured me?" Sherlock asked.

"I will let the Duke explain," John said. "He can explain it better than me."

"The Lords have the orb." The Duke said.

"Lords?" Sherlock asked as he and John looked at him.

The Duke began explaining. "Mother Miranda is the cold, calculating ruler of this village. Four lords serve under her."

Both listened carefully.

"The first is a tall Vamperic woman. The lady Alcina Dimitrescu." The Duke said.

"The woman in the white dress." Sherlock noted.

"She lives in a castle nearby." The Duke said to him and they both nodded.

"The second lives deep in a valley of mist. The doll maker Donna Beneviento." The Duke explained.

"I remember her." Sherlock said.

"None of her playmates have ever come back from that dank, old estate." The Duke said ominously.

"This sounds bad." John muttered.

"The third is Salvatore Moreau, a being of twisted flesh that lives in the reservoir past the windmills," the Duke continued. "It's said that he is not the only monster that lives in those waters."

"Ah him!" Sherlock said in realization.

"The fourth and most dangerous is Karl Heisenberg. He works in his factory on the village outskirts," the Duke said. "And the project? Let's just say parts of the human imagination are better left alone."

Sherlock and John traded concerned looks, wondering what he meant by that.

"All 4 Lords hate Miranda." The Duke added.

"Hate her? Why?" John asked.

"They were experimented on, to take on Miranda's daughter who died of the Spanish flu." The Duke explained.

While listening, a plan began forming in Sherlock's mind, and he smirked.

I know what I must do.

"Watson, stay here. Work with the Duke to find the orb, so we can leave." Sherlock said to him.

"What? Why?" John asked, not understanding.

"I have found a way to take on Miranda." Sherlock explained simply.

"You will truly need to have a silver tongue if you wish to do so." The Duke warned. Sherlock looked at him, wondering how he knew that.

"Leave that part to me." He said and the Duke dipped his head.

"I will return as soon as I am finished," Sherlock said. He turned to face the Duke. "Do you have a map I can borrow?"

"Yes I do," the Duke smiled. "I have marked all 4 locations on your map. As a favour of course."

"Thank you very much." Sherlock said.

"Of course, Mr. Holmes," the Duke smirked. "What else can I get you? Weapons, ammunition, healing salves?"

"I could use some weapons." Sherlock said.

"Take your pick." The Duke said, gesturing to the back of the carriage. Assortments of weapons were there.

Sherlock selected a few handguns and magazine clips in response.

"Thank you, I shall be going." Sherlock said, nodding at them both. John gave him a concerned look but nodded.

Opening the map, he scanned it, noticing the closest location was the castle.

First stop appears to be the location of Alcina Dimitrescu. Hopefully I can convince her.

With that, he began walking.

"Go find Donna next. You can convince her." The One said inside his mind.

Same time

Chris Redfield loaded up a cargo plane with weapons and ammo.

"You lot coming or what?" he called out to Holmes, Watson, Consultant, Joan, Ethan, Claire and Leon.

"Yeah, yeah." Claire rolled her eyes as they walked towards the cargo plane.

"With our current timestamp, we should be in the Village in at least 17 hours." Chris reported.

"Good." Consultant nodded.

"Let's get going." Chris said firmly.

The Village

Sherlock gently pushed open the door to a huge mansion, entering a massive dining room. There were 3 doors, one leading ahead and two to either side.

A staircase lead upstairs.

First point; find the Lady Dimitrescu. Avoid any possible traps. From there, figure out the rest of the plan.

Sherlock walked through the room quietly, admiring the paintings on the walls.

"Bela! Cassandra! Danielle!" Alcina called out. Sherlock ducked behind a wall as she walked in. Swarms of flies landed and materialized into 3 strikingly beautiful Vampires.

"Yes Mother?" they asked.

"Heisenberg has lost the man, Sherlock Holmes. I want you to find him and bring him to me." Alcina ordered.

"It shall be done." Bela replied, turning into a swarm of flies and flying away.

I need to isolate her and avoid her daughters.

Sherlock turned the corner, noticing Alcina walking upstairs. Swiftly, he began following her, sticking close to walls and shadows.

"Miserable wretch!" Alcina ranted. "I knew Heisenberg couldn't keep him contained!"

She must be talking about me. I guess information spreads really fast around here.

Alcina walked down a hallway and opened a door, closing it behind her. Sherlock made to follow her when flies swarmed around him and Cassandra materialized.

"Where do you think you're going?" she taunted.

First, deliver body shot.

Discombobulate.

Traumatize throat.

Deliver left hook.

Strike face.

Finally, give heel kick.

In summary; ears ringing, throat damaged, cheekbone fractured, abdomen aching. Immediate threat defeated.

Moving into action, he slammed Bela's eardrum, making her shriek. As she was about to, Sherlock punched her in the throat, stifling her scream.

He punched her in the rib and then kicked her hard, sending her to the ground, incapacitated for now.

First opponent is defeated. Now seek out the Lady Dimitrescu herself.

Sherlock smirked and walked down the hallway, towards the door. Opening it, he found Alcina sitting at a table, facing a mirror.

"Alcina Dimitrescu," Sherlock said sternly. "I have come to bargain."

"Bargain? Mortal, I am going to kill you." Alcina smirked, getting up. She flexed her fingers, revealing really long fingernails.

"I am here to offer you a deal." Sherlock said as the two began circling each other.

"There is nothing you can offer me." Alcina sneered, and lunged at him. With that, the two began fighting.

Sherlock ducked to avoid a claw swipe and punched her in the hip. She was 9 feet tall, so that was about his height.

Alcina sliced downwards, and Sherlock moved away to avoid, kicking up a cane that was nearby and using it to block another strike.

"Lady Dimitrescu, stop this now!" Sherlock said, blocking another strike and striking her in the face.

"You disgusting outsider!" Alcina snarled, slicing him across the arm and damaging the coat.

Sherlock just looked really annoyed.

I need to calm her down. She must be in a calm state if I am to offer her a deal.

Sherlock struck her knee with the cane and then delivered an uppercut with it, making her stagger back.

"Calm down! I just want to talk!" Sherlock said sternly, twirling the staff as he maintained his distance.

"What could you possibly offer me?" Alcina taunted him.

"To defeat Mother Miranda." Sherlock replied calmly. Alcina looked at him as though he had just said he wanted to nuke himself.

"Why on Earth would I want to do that?" she began laughing hysterically.

"I know you were once a jazz singer, but developed a hereditary blood disease," Sherlock said calmly. "I know Miranda implanted a Cadou parasite into you. You were mutated, but were considered a failure. You have porphyria."

"How…how do you know all this?" Alcina asked in shock and horror, staggering back slightly.

"I have contacts," Sherlock shrugged imply. "You need a fresh supply of blood to maintain your health. And because of that, Miranda judges you as a failure."

"Yes…it's all true," Alcina said softly before glaring at him. "But you have insulted House Dimitrescu. And for that, you will die!"

Sherlock simply raised a hand. "I am not done talking yet."

"What else can you say mortal, before I end you?" Alcina sneered at him.

"You want respect, and to continue your bloodline," Sherlock said, using information the One gave him. "But as long as Miranda exists, you cannot do that. So, I propose that we join forces to stop her."

"Why would I want to do that?" Alcina asked.

"Because deep down, you want to be respected. And you will never gain Miranda's respect. And I wish to claim a specific object and leave this village. Therefore our interests are aligned." Sherlock explained.

"You're forgetting one thing, Holmes;" Alcina smirked. "I don't like you."

"Neither do I, Lady Dimitrescu, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Sherlock shot back.

Slowly, Alcina began to lower her claws and he inwardly smirked.

Appears my tactics are working. Others might be harder to convince.

"Think on it. If you decide to join me, meet me on the Village outskirts," Sherlock said.

"You're going to try to convince the others to help you?" Alcina guessed. "They will never listen to you. Especially Heisenberg."

"Maybe," Sherlock allowed. "But never judge a book by its cover."

With that, he slowly walked away as Alcina looked at him. He looked behind to make sure she didn't try to kill him.

"Well done," the One chuckled inside his head. "I helped a little bit as well. Now the others might be harder to convince. But I will help you."

With that, it faded and Sherlock walked away.

Beneivento's Estate, later

Sherlock walked along a dirt path towards a dark house ahead. He noticed some flowers nearby, growing along the path.

Let's hope Ms. Beneviento is easier to convince.

Sherlock walked up to the door and pushed it open, entering the house.

He looked around, seeing portraits of old dolls. It was very dusty.

"Donna Beneviento. I wish to talk." Sherlock said loudly, trying to draw her attention.

For a few moments, there was silence. Then screeching was heard, making Sherlock look around.

The doll from earlier flew up to him, cackling madly.

"Let me work my magic. You distract the doll. I can help you convince Donna to aid you." The One whispered before fading.

"I wish to speak to Donna Beneviento." Sherlock said calmly to the doll.

"You cannot speak to her! She doesn't want to talk to you!" the doll laughed.

"Is that right, Angie?" Sherlock asked with a small smirk. Angie's eyes widened in horror, wondering how he knew that.

Seems as though this plan is working.

"Your master is kind and reasonable. She has borderline innocence, and Miranda views her as a failure. But Donna is much more than that. For something isn't beautiful, because it lasts." Sherlock said.

"You are lying!" Angie sneered. "Donna will never listen to you."

"Won't she?" Sherlock cocked his head. "She seems to be much more reasonable than people give her credit for."

"Angie, stop."

Both looked over to see a beautiful, dark-haired woman in a veil walk over to them. She lifted the veil, revealing a scarred face that was slowly healing.

"I am here to propose an alliance," Sherlock said. "Join me against Miranda, and you will be granted freedom, and will be left alone."

Donna stared at him for a few moments before holding out her hand to reveal a dark orb.

Must be the device the One was speaking of. Could explain why she is speaking instead of being silent.

"This has shown me the truth," Donna said. "Please, just end me. I am tired of Miranda's lies."

Sherlock looked at her sadly. The One had mentally shown him Donna's entire back-story, and he realized she was just a sad, manipulated girl.

"You will rest, in time. But as long as Miranda still exists, you will never know peace. None of us will." He said.

"Everything would have been better if you and this orb never showed up," Donna said loathingly. "Miranda is going to throw us all away."

"I know," Sherlock said. "You are still trying to kill me. So you are no less innocent than everyone else. But I know your sister was lost to Miranda's experiments, and you're parents committed suicide when you were a child."

"Keep her talking; I will be done in a few minutes." The One said.

"If you wish to be at peace, then join me. If not, then stay out of my way. Otherwise I will end you." Sherlock said.

Must collect the orb. Miranda must never get her hands on it.

Donna slowly took a step back, looking at the orb sadly.

"I just want someone to play with." She muttered.

"And you will, in due time." Sherlock replied. "But I know that deep down, you want to be left alone. But Miranda does not care. She will kill you when she is done. But I am not like her. I can help you be free at last."

The orb began glowing and Donna's eyes widened.

"Please, just leave me." She whispered, dropping the orb to the ground. She began stumbling away, almost as if someone was punching her.

Sherlock slowly leaned down and picked up the orb. It was dark, though silver colored intricate symbols were carved all over it.

"I can't tell if that worked or not." Sherlock said.

"Wait and see. For now, go back to the outskirts. I have helped you it is enough for now. This is all the help I am going to give you." The One said.

Sherlock slowly backed out the door, closing it and walking down the dirt path.

Same time

Chris, Holmes, Watson, Consultant, Joan, Claire, Ethan and Leon walked out the cargo plan, armed with weapons.

"I tracked Miranda, she is at the center of the Village," Chris said, showing pictures of Miranda preparing some kind of ceremony.

"What do we do?" Consultant asked.

"We need to take her down. I've brought the BSAA and the Hound Wolf Squad to back us up." Chris said.

"Then let's go," Ethan said, cocking his assault rifle. "That bitch is dead."

Later

Sherlock walked into a dark room in an old factory, wondering why the One sent him.

"Sherlock!"

He turned to see John walking towards him, a smile on his face.

"Watson, my good man! Why are you smiling?" Sherlock asked.

"The One helped me convince Heisenberg to help us beat Miranda," John explained. "Turns out he wants to kill her as well."

"He does?" Sherlock asked in surprise.

"Yes," John nodded. "And the One told me you got Donna on our side."

"I think so." Sherlock nodded. "Many hands make light work."

"Well, well."

Both turned to see Heisenberg walk up to them, a smirk on his face.

"Watson told me you are on our side." Sherlock said.

"I'm on no one's side," Heisenberg said. "I just want to kill that bitch."

Sherlock and John traded looks.

"I can lend you a hand. Together, we can kill her, the super sized bitch, the ugly ass psycho doll, and the moronic freak." Heisenberg explained.

"Donna is on our side." Sherlock told him.

"Is she now?" Heisenberg asked mockingly. "I doubt that. But regardless, you and me, Sherlock, we can take her down."

"How do you know who I am?" Sherlock asked, his eyes narrowed.

"A being came to Miranda in a dream, said you would arrive to derail everything." Heisenberg smirked at him.

Sherlock and John traded another looks, wondering what was going on.

This is starting to look even more suspicious.

"So what do you say, Sherlock? You in or out?" Heisenberg asked, holding out his hand.

Sherlock looked down and then grasped it. He knew that Heisenberg would probably betray him eventually, but for now at least, they were allies with a common cause.

"Oh Miranda is gonna go down tomorrow." Heisenberg laughed.

Sherlock sensed something and turned the corner.

As he did, he felt immense pain as something burst through his chest.

Looking down, he stared in horror at the hand that now protruded through his chest.

"You thought you could defeat me?!" Mother Miranda laughed as her other hand grabbed the orb from Sherlock's coat.

"With this, I shall become the strongest there is! And my daughter will live again!" she smirked.

Clenching her fist, Miranda tore Sherlock's heart out. He gasped in agony, slumping to the ground.

"It was stupid of you to think you could stop me." Miranda smirked, disappearing into the shadows.

Sherlock's vision began to fade as he held out his hand.

"Be too fast too furious, like the Heroes on Earth-1." A voice whispered before fading.

No! I did not kill Sherlock off! For those familiar with Resident Evil, he will go down a similar route as Ethan did in the game.

So the main fights didn't happen, because Sherlock and John have convinced Heisenberg and Donna to aid them in fighting Miranda.

Simply put, I honestly feel sympathy for all 4 Lords. They were manipulated and then rejected by Miranda, which caused them to become this.

Not excusing any of their actions, but they're motivations make a lot more sense.

Plus, Heisenberg and Donna are my two faviroutes of all the Lords. And Sherlock is a tactical genius, so he could use it to his advantage.

Heisenberg is an asshole, but for now, he and Sherlock are allies. And we're gonna get some epic fights next chapter.

But something is clearly up with that orb, since it freed Donna's mind, strengthened her, and then increased Miranda's power, so she is now on par with the Lords, to make this a greater challenge.

You will see what happens to Dimitrescu and Moreau later on in this story.

Now next chapter will cover the entire climax, so hope all are excited.

Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter. Stay safe ya all!
