Outside the S.W.O.R.D. HQ, Oliver Queen, in disguise with a cap and glasses, was observing the building, when he noticed a red-haired woman entering. Wanda Maximoff. An Avenger.
Oliver's eyes narrowed, wondering what was she doing here. Oliver picked his cellphone and used it as a remote as a miniature fly drone with a camera, one of Felicity's and A.R.G.U.S.'s latest toys, flew out of Oliver's pocket and landed on Wanda's jacket.
Oliver listened to Wanda demanding to see Vision's body before she forced her way to the office of Director Tyler Hayward. Oliver then observed and clenched his fists as he saw Hayward showing Wanda the lab, where they were dismantling Vision's body to collect vibranium parts and clenched his fists in disgust. Vision may have been a machine, but he was also a sentient living being until his death and doing this to him was just violating and he listened to Wanda's broken voice full of pain, begging for them to stop. Hayward justified himself that it was their obligation to collect vibranium and was not going to let it just get buried and also explaining that Vision was not hers to bury. The drone also had a digital sniffer planted on it, so Oliver was able to find out about Project Cataract and the White Vision and having enough of it, Oliver decided to take action.
Later that night, Hayward was in his office, talking on the phone. "We need to take care of Maximoff. A permanent solution. If she was willing to tear the building apart, who knows—"
Suddenly, the phone was shot off his hand and Hayward turned to face an archer in green hood, who was notching an arrow.
"Tyler Hayward, you have failed humanity." Green Arrow growled.
Hayward just chuckled. "Oliver Queen. I guess I should be honored. Did you think we didn't keep tabs on masked vigilantes like you? Why are you coming after me instead of the greedy and corrupt one-percenters or crime lords?"
"You're trying to weaponize what's left of Vision and denying a grieving woman closure. People like you disgust me." Oliver sneered, remembering Amanda Waller.
"Vision is governmental property." Hayward said.
"He was a sentient being up until Thanos killed him." Oliver growled and Hayward laughed.
"You think you can take the body?" He asked smugly. "The security guards—"
"Are taking a very long nap right now." Oliver said and Hayward paled. "No one is coming to save you. Where's Vision?" Hayward was silent and out of patience, Oliver fired into Hayward's shoulder as Hayward screamed in pain and Oliver approached him, twisting the arrow as Hayward screamed louder. "WHERE?!"
"In the labs!" Hayward yelled, groaning. "Five stories below! But he's surrounded by dozens of guards, you'll never—"
Oliver punched Hayward, breaking his nose and knocking him out before Oliver plugged a device into Hayward's computer, downloading more data regarding Project Cataract and other black ops projects and incriminating data before Oliver took Hayward's access card and entered the elevator. Few guards would be a piece of cake for Oliver, if that was all it took to get Vision's body.
The following morning, Wanda was in her apartment, drinking coffee and reading newspapers, when one article piqued her interest.
'DIRECTOR OF S.W.O.R.D. BUILDING WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION WITHOUT THE GOVERNMENT'S APPROVAL. TYLER HAYWARD AND THE INTELLIGENCE AGENCY CURRENTLY UNDER HEAVY INVESTIGATION'
Wanda's eyebrows raised. It was as if someone had answered her prayers. At least some justice. But still, she wished she could get back Vision's body. It was then, when she heard the doorbell and opened the door and looked in surprise at the guest.
"Oliver?" Wanda asked when she noticed the bag in his hand. "What is…" Oliver entered and put the bag on the table and opened it, revealing Vision's body and then all the pieces fell together to Wanda as she turned to him, with tear-filled eyes and voice cracking as she hugged him and Oliver fondled her hair. "Thank you…"
"The least he deserves is a proper funeral." Oliver said as he gave Wanda a pointed look, while she looked up to him. "Wanda, the best thing you can do for Vision is to let go… and forgive yourself for not saving him from Thanos. Dwelling on 'what-if' and what could have been will only cause you more pain than his death already has. Grief, loss and regret will never help. Trust me on that."
"You make it sound so easy." Wanda said hurtfully.
"I never said it was." Oliver said as Wanda considered.
Later, Wanda, Steve, Bucky, Clint, Thor, Rhodey, Sam, Scott, Hope, Bruce and Peter, alongside Pepper and Hill and Oliver and Barry held a private funeral for Vision at the Stark Residence next to Tony's grave as Wanda felt Steve's, Clint's, Oliver's and Barry's assuring hands on her shoulder and she smiled. She may not have had her love in her life anymore, but what was not going to change was having her friends and family at her side.
Frankly, I hate Wanda/Vision in MCU. In comic books, I'm more neutral to it but don't support it either. While WandaVision show did a good job with it and Elizabeth and Paul really knocked their comedic performances out of the park, in the end, the show ruined Wanda, with her magically enslaving the whole town and putting my dislike towards the pairing aside, Wanda and Vision were nicely done there, but what I disliked was the magical pregnancy arc, since that one, both in comic books and in the show, was just creepy.
Also, Steve didn't leave into the past to stay with Peggy in this fic, since don't get me started on that, even after two years, that ending to Steve's arc makes zero sense.
So, what do you guys think?
