Frankly, I hated how they ruined Gwen in After the Fall with how she betrayed Team Angel to Vampire Gunn but at least it was undone when the Senior Partners undid the Hell in L.A. Takes place post-After the Fall but given that Angel later forgave Gunn for what had happened in Hellish L.A., I think he'd forgive Gwen too.

Gwen moaned softly as she felt the sunlight on her face, with the silk bedsheets conforming to her naked body. She had not felt such peace and serenity in months since the Hell in L.A. and probably would not have, if Angel and Gunn had not forgiven her for betraying Angel to Vampire Gunn, when the Senior Partners had sent Los Angeles to Hell. She turned her head, only to see that she was alone in bed before she heard sizzling and smelled the roasted bacon and grilled cheese.

Gwen got up from the bed and put on string bikini from the drawers before covering herself with a silk robe before entering the dining room, where Gunn, in his T-shirt and shorts, was preparing the breakfast.

"Didn't peg you for a cook." Gwen teased.

"Ah, Cordy and Angel taught me." Gunn said as they ate.

"You know, I could teach you better than them. Don't get me wrong, this is good, but these are… basic stuff. Have you ever tried like… making a roasted steak or something like that?" Gwen asked.

"Well, if you can teach me, I can try." Gunn said.

They walked down the small town at the shores of California, filling their morning and afternoon with stories, laughs, flirtatious dialogues and eating ice cream and mojito drinks, when they approached the more secluded area of the beach, not so much overcrowded.

"Fancy a swim?" Gwen asked.

"I don't swim much." Gunn said nervously.

"What? Don't tell me Gunny is afraid of water…" Gwen asked, teasing.

"I grew up on the streets, fighting vampires since I was a kid, it's not like—"

"I'll teach you then, come on." Gwen grabbed Gunn by his arm and dragged him to the waters, while she took off her top and shorts, diving into the water in her bikini.

Gunn took a breath before sighing. What the hell, screw it. He took off his shirt, diving into the water in his short pants but considering that he had little to no experience in swimming, he was more like wildly splashing water around with his hands and legs until he got tired and started to sink as he yelped.

"Whoa! A little help!" Gunn yelled in between gurgling.

"You need to keep kicking legs down there and waving your hands near the surface!" Gwen laughed as she held Gunn to keep him above water. "Come on, kick and wave. Kick and wave. That's it." She said happily as Gunn started to keep his head above water.

"Yeah. I think I'm getting a hang of it." Gunn said before he looked around to notice that Gwen had disappeared. "Gwen? Gwen!" He started to worry, when suddenly, something grabbed him by his leg as he was pulled underwater.

Gunn panicked at first before he noticed Gwen's face and the sounds he made underwater and the large bubbles coming out from his mouths were almost like shouting. They both emerged to the surface as Gwen laughed. "Gotcha!"

"Stop!" Gunn snapped, glaring before he let out a chuckle.

"You must have thought I was Kraken or some gill monster, right?" Gwen said with a smirk.

"OK, how about this?" Gunn grabbed Gwen and forced her underwater but Gwen shook him off as they started to splash each other.

They both were later at the shore, resting, with Gwen sleeping and laying her head onto Gunn's shoulder as he was brushing her hair in between his fingers. Considering that she had been able to control her powers during the lovemaking now, it was fun. After Fred… after the Hell... after losing his friends to Wolfram & Hart… it was nice to find some semblance of peace in his life.

Putting asides how After the Fall ruined both characters, I prefer Gunn/Gwen over Gunn/Fred, since with Fred it didn't feel clicking as much as with Gwen. Plus, both of them would need some good influence on the other post-After the Fall.
