Summary: YJ S1 Ep 18. BTW, to answer the comment asking for more Wally and Dick, I'll do my best, but honestly it's kinda hard to write about their friendship without it coming off as cringe, and I don't wanna add anything that would bring the story down cuz that helps nobody. I have an even harder time writing about his friendship with Barbara (and Roy for that matter), which is why I hardly include her. But I'll try to throw it in for future chapters cuz they are supposed to be best friends so it should be there, and I do like their relationship. Thanks for the support and feedback, though!

Halloween had finally rolled around, and so Dick was being overwhelmed by "scary" decorations everywhere. Honestly, nothing came anywhere close to phasing him, and given his nightlife, that made sense. He had seen the worst of the worst in his 5 years of heroics, and plastic skeletons and poorly carved jack-o-lanterns were nothing to him. His high school had already had a Halloween Ball, which he had attended with Barbara and Luke. Artemis skipped out, no surprise there, and he only really went because Babs asked him to. He didn't dress up very much, just put on a tux and called himself Tony Stark. I mean, close enough. Billionaire, superhero, and, not to brag or anything, genius. All I'm missing is the stache. And there's no way in hell I'm growing a stache. Ever. Robin had also been invited by Miss M to the Happy Harbor High ball, and he had to admit, he was tempted. Not because of spending time with the team (which he would have liked, but it just wouldn't have been enough to get him to go), but because a certain very beautiful sorceress he had taken an extreme liking to had been invited as well and was going. Dick hadn't seen Zatanna for almost 2 weeks now. He was worried he would never see her again given how pissed off Giovanni was when the team "kidnapped" his daughter. Thankfully, Zatanna was just as good as Dick was at convincing her dad to drop her eternal grounding, so she was going. Un-thankfully, Dick couldn't go because he and Bruce had work to do. God, why do we have this stupid meeting the ONE day Zatanna decides to visit?! Can't we delay by like, a day?

Robin and Batman Zeta'd to the cave. He looked around for Zatanna; maybe he would catch her before she left. Unfortunately, she and Artemis were nowhere to be seen. The rest of the team was just about to depart, with the exception of Kaldur, who was part of the work Dick had to do. He stopped by to thank and apologize to Megan for the invite, before following Bruce to the living room for the meeting. He was met with Red Tornado and...Roy?! I haven't seen him in, like, forever! Dick and Kaldur ran up to him.

"Roy! Hey! We haven't seen you in ages!"

"Indeed, my friend. We tried to make contact, but couldn't reach you."

"Yeah, sorry about that. This whole solo thing is pretty time-consuming."

"So, what're ya doin' here? Ooh, are you going to join the team?!"

"No. I'm here for a more serious topic." What's that? "Kal, I'm sure you remember when Sportsmaster mentioned a mole on your team?"

"Indeed, but we are certain that was just a ruse to sow discontent in the team."

"I'm not so sure. We need to run the facts and think about this." Batman then walked up to them.

"Take a seat. We will be here for a while."

The conversation went on for about an hour. Dick didn't speak much, he was more of a listener here. He and Kaldur didn't think there was a mole, but three possible suspects were pitched out.

"Look at Miss Martian."

"What about her?" Megan's like the sweetest girl ever! Why would SHE be a mole?

"Well, she says she came to Earth with her uncle 3 months before the team was formed. But from what Canary told me, she stowed away on her uncle's ship on his last trip to Mars. Why would she lie about that?"

"Well, I mean, she has always been pretty interested in Earth. Look at how she grew up. Pretty dysfunctional childhood. I can understand why she'd wanna get away from it."

"Indeed. Besides, she had been on Earth for 3 months before the team. Not very much time to create the ties needed to infiltrate a team."

"Except that her father is Manhunter's greatest foe. She may still be in contact with him for all we know!" Batman spoke in here.

"I don't think Miss Martian is the mole. She spends most of her time trying to show off to or entertain the other members of the team, and her demeanor is not that of a hardened thief. I have studied her facial patterns and eye movements. She is either unconventionally good at hiding secrets, which given her past is unlikely, or she is clean."

"Okay, well then what about Artemis. I know for a fact she's not shooting straight. For starters, she's not really Green Arrow's niece." Batman glared at him for a moment to get him to shut up.

"What?!" Kaldur was shocked at this. Dick pitched in.

"Well yeah. In fact she's related to-" Bruce put a hand on his shoulder to get him to stop, and Dick understood. It wasn't in his place to reveal such a private part of Arty's life, and he personally trusted her with his life, ESPECIALLY after the Reds' invasion and the whole Project Knightmare debacle.

"Artemis' relations may indeed make her a suspect, but she is entitled to a secret identity, just like the rest of us. Green Arrow and I personally did a thorough background check on her before inviting her to the team. She is clean. I'm more concerned about Superboy." Wow. Shocker. Do you have something against Kryptonians? Seriously, all the Kryptonite, the freaking Anti-Kryptonian Battle Armor in the Batcave, and now this. "We still know very little about what Cadmus programmed into their weapon. Connor could be the mole and not even know it." Bruce looked at Tornado there, who looked down for a minute. Dick felt a bit of pity for him. Tornado was unaware that Morrow had pre-programmed instructions to betray the League into him. It wasn't right to take advantage of someone like that, and Dick seriously hoped one of his closest friends wasn't at risk of that.

"I have fought side-by-side with all of these people. None of them could betray us. They have risked their lives for Robin and I time and time again."

"Yeah, they're our friends. No way they could be moles. Plus, if they should be looked at as moles for having secrets, then why am I not? I have the most secrets of anyone in the team, and I'm not even thought of as mole material!" Bruce put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

"They have all shown incredible bravery and heroics on the battlefield. And yes, they are all entitled to secrets. However, given the dangerous possibility of a traitor in our midst, we should keep a certain level of caution. I am not saying for certain that there even is a mole or that it's one of them, but we should keep our guard up until we find more info on this topic. That will be all." The meeting disbanded. Roy hung out for a bit with Dick and Kal before Zetaing away, and Dick was soon left alone to wander around the cave aimlessly. He allowed himself to think on the topic of the mole. There couldn't be a mole, right? If there was, then why didn't they betray us when the Injustice League attacked? They coulda gone against us at so many points, but nobody did. There can't be a mole...can there? Dick was knocked out of his thoughts as he bumped into someone.

"Oh! Sorry...Zatanna?!"

"Robin! Hi!" Both Dick and Zatanna blushed as then realized Zatanna had fallen into Dick's arms and he was holding her up. She tried to get back on her own feet, but nearly fell over as Dick caught her.

"You okay?"

"Uh, yeah, yeah. Just my ankle. I kinda hurt it earlier." Dick noticed she was wearing motorcycle attire, and got interested.

"What happened to the party?"

"Oh, uh, yeah...about that, Arty and I ditched the party cuz she wanted to just go on patrol. We got into this fight with a ghost or something, and I kinda hurt my ankle."

"We should check it out in the Medbay, y'know, see if it's alright. Besides, better than your dad finding out, right?" Zatanna giggled as she nodded. Dick helped her to the Medbay, keeping one hand around her shoulders and another on her arm to steady her. Heat rose to both their faces, and they did their best to avoid eye contact so as not to reveal this. Dick deposited her on a bed and pulled out gauze and bandages. He was extremely excited to be able to spend more time with the girl he was so attracted to, but he was also pretty worried about her injury.

"So, what happened, exactly?" Zatanna told him the story, and Dick listened carefully as she explained everything.

"I, uh, I m-may have wrecked your bike. I-I'm really sorry about that." Dick smirked.

"It's all good. I wreck one like every other day with Bats. It's fine."

"Really?"

"Yeah, yeah! No problem." Zatanna smiled at his words and blushed as he tended to her ankle. She took the opportunity to look him over, and her face reddened even more as she caught herself staring at his torso. Dick blushed too as he tended to her foot, but he wasn't tripping over himself like last time. He had spent a lot of time working on composing himself so he wouldn't break down into a hormonal wreck like the last time he and Zatanna were with each other. Somehow, he had some control over himself as he patched the girl up. "Okay, it looks like just a small twist. You should be good to go in a few hours, but just stay off your feet."

"Thanks 'mom'." Dick laughed as he wrapped her ankle with the bandages.

"So, you didn't go to the party?"

"Nah. I had to go to this meeting with Bats and Kal." Zatanna nodded and looked down. She had secretly really hoped to spend some time with him. The main reason she had accepted Megan's invite was so that she could see Robin again. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, but now that she broke her father's grounding, she wanted to visit as often as she could to get to see him more. She could think about very little other than the Boy Wonder ever since their initial meeting, and that only worsened her already existing attraction to him from what she saw on TV. She loved everything about him after their first 'mission' together: his cocky attitude in a fight, his smirk, his amazing acrobatics, his genius, and the fact he could keep up with everyone on the team with no powers. She was quite possibly more into him than he was into her. It was ironic, really, since she also had a celebrity crush on Dick Grayson. "So, you got your dad to drop the grounding?"

"Yeah. He was pretty angry at first, but he's over it now. I can visit again more."

"T-that would be nice. I-I mean to have you around more." Zatanna blushed yet again and smiled as he helped her to her feet and walked her to the Zeta tubes. Unfortunately, it was getting late, and so the two couldn't spend much time together. Dick was scared enough of Giovanni already. He REALLY did not need him to know his daughter was staying late with a boy who he already was angry at. The only thing that would happen there would be an extremely angry magician chasing him around, trying to turn him into an animal of some sort. So unfortunately, they had to depart, much to both of their chagrin.

"So, uh, s-see you around?"

"You bet, Boy Wonder." Why do I like it so much when she calls me that? Seriously, I HAVE to get a hold of myself. Zatanna Zeta'd off as Bruce emerged from the shadows, smirking at the dreamy look in his son's face.

"Impressive self-control." Dick jumped.

"God, don't do that!"

"I do that all the time, you never jump. Then again, you did seem pretty distracted. I'm impressed you didn't blurt out some type of horrible pick-up line."

"Y-you were watching?!" Bruce smirked further.

"Don't worry, Zatanna said she will visit more often. Just...do your best not to turn into Wally. Contrary to popular belief, women do not enjoy the cheesy pick-up lines or constant flirting. Believe me, I know. Now, let's go home." Dick stammered as Bruce Zeta'd to the cave before following him. Oh god, he is never gonna let me live this down, is he?

Sorry if it was a smaller chapter, but I kinda just wanted to throw this in there to show what Dick was up to in this ep. Next chapter will be ep 19 of s1, which is where Zatanna joins the team. Zatanna will start to feature a lot more now since she's actually a member of the team after next chapter, so that's nice. Feel free to review and leave suggestions or thoughts. Next chapter up soon.
