When Peter came to, he groaned in pain as he got up before he was held down by… two pairs of hands, much to his surprise before he noticed he was on the couch in his house, with Aunt May and… Gwen of all people looking at him and then he noticed that he had been stripped of the upper half of his suit, his body wrapped in bandages.
"Easy, Peter." Aunt May said.
"Aunt May… Gwen?" Peter whispered, shocked.
"I found you passed out in the backyard wearing your costume. Didn't take much for me to put it together." Gwen explained and Peter paled, knowing he was done now.
"I'm sorry, Peter, I had to explain everything to her." Aunt May explained.
"And don't worry, I'm not gonna tell anyone. Honestly, after our date the other day, I think I can understand it all." Gwen said as Peter laid down, clutching the bandages and sighing in exhaustion.
"Who did this to you, Peter?" Aunt May asked as Peter took a breath.
"Honestly, I have no idea. But I guess they were the people Liz's Dad warned me about." Peter said.
"How many of them were there?" Gwen said as Peter remembered Electro, Mysterio and someone else, who had shot the line of Peter's webbing.
"Four, I think. That I saw. Could be more of them." Peter admitted.
"And what are you going to do? Take them on all on your own?" Aunt May asked.
"You could tell my Dad what's going on. I mean, Spider-Man could." Gwen said.
"And what exactly am I gonna say? 'Hey, Captain Stacy, four bad guys with hi-tech and superpowers ganged up to kill me earlier tonight and they are gonna try again soon enough.'?" Peter asked sarcastically. "Besides, didn't you say your Dad hates vigilantes?"
Gwen sighed, knowing he had her there.
"I think I should give you two some space." Aunt May said, leaving Peter and Gwen alone.
They both stared at each other with a lot of awkwardness in the air as both teenagers stared at each other silently for a few seconds, even though it felt like a lifetime before Peter spoke up. "So… I guess you have a lot of questions now, do you?"
"Honestly, not really." Gwen said, much to Peter's surprise. "I mean, your Aunt told me everything, when you were passed out. Your Uncle, the whole 'With great power comes great responsibility.', the Sokovian Accords, Mr. Stark and the Avengers and all of it. But still…" She took a breath. "Look, before you start falling on your knees and beg, don't worry, I'm not gonna tell anyone, especially my Dad, since it's not like anyone would believe me and I like you too much to let my Dad arrest you." Peter chuckled, assured as she chuckled back. "And… I… I guess I can understand why you do what you do. Because of your uncle, if I consider how you were acting in the park the other day."
Peter smiled appreciatively, glad that she was more understanding and had better reaction that Aunt May did.
"So… I guess I have just one question for you. Were you ever gonna tell me that you're Spider-Man?" Gwen asked as Peter considered. "Your Aunt told me how she, Ned and MJ found out."
Peter took a breath. "I don't know. I mean, I do like you, Gwen, it's just…" He looked at her apologetically. "Last time I considered telling someone I cared about, it didn't end well. It's not that I didn't want to tell you, I just didn't want—"
"Liz and her Dad, right." Gwen said, understanding.
"So… where does that leave us?" Peter asked as Gwen chuckled.
"Are you serious right now, Parker?" Gwen asked incredulously as Peter blushed, looking ashamed before she continued. "You think this would make me think less of you? Come on, I know what kind of a person you are, if you consider how you saved our classmates in D.C. and Liz's Dad, despite what an a-hole he was and seriously, you are one of the greatest guys I know. If anything, this only shows you're a greater guy than I'd thought."
"But it's not just about that." Peter said as Gwen blinked. "Liz's Dad figured out who I am too before I put him to prison and he once threatened to kill everyone I care about. Knowing my secret will only put you, Aunt May, MJ, Ned and everyone else in danger."
Gwen snorted. "Pete, I'm a cop's daughter." She pointed at herself. "I'm in a potential danger every day of my life and I carry a Taser with me and I have basic self-defense skills. I get and appreciate that you're trying to look out for me but I can handle myself."
"Not against these guys." Peter said.
"If not, then I have Spider-Man to help me out, right?" Gwen pointed out as Peter considered. "Look, you told me that with great power comes great responsibility. Now I have the power to handle the knowledge of who you are and I intend to use it responsibly by keeping your secret and using your help when it is absolutely necessary."
Peter smiled at her as he realized that he was not going to talk her out of it, when he reached into the web-shooter and pulled out a miniature device of a size of a spider. "Well, if you're sure about this, take this."
"What is it?" Gwen asked.
"A Spider-Tracer. Just press the spider gently and it'll send out a signal and I'll know you're in danger and that you need my help." Peter said.
"Oh, my knight in shining spider armor." Gwen teased as she held Peter by his cheek.
"Actually, I do have a shining spider armor." Peter said.
"Wait, seriously?" Gwen asked, enthusiastic. "You have to show me that!"
"Maybe another time." Peter said, blushing before Gwen's phone rang as she answered the call.
"Yeah, Dad?" Gwen asked.
"Gwen, I know it's weekend but where have you been the whole night?" George Stacy, Gwen's father, asked as Gwen groaned, completely forgetting about it.
"Ah, I'm so sorry, Dad, I completely forgot to let you know. I went to visit Pete last night but he's got bad stomachache, I wanted to look out for him until his Aunt got back but I fell asleep on their couch." Gwen said.
"I see. It's alright. Tell Peter I wish him speedy recovery. Let me know when you're on your way home and be careful." George said.
"You bet, Dad." Gwen said before hanging up. "That's what I get for being a police captain's daughter. He wishes you well."
"Stomachache, huh? How would you explain the bruises, then?" Peter joked.
"Maybe you were too stubborn to stay in bed?" Gwen quipped as Peter chuckled.
"I heal fast, so they should be gone in few hours." Peter said.
"So, maybe we could grab a coffee later in the afternoon?" Gwen offered.
"Or a theater." Peter suggested.
Later, New York City
Peter and Gwen were on their way to the theater, when they heard screams and explosions and Peter's spider-sense went off.
"What's going on?" Gwen asked.
"Nothing good. Gwen, get out of here!" Peter ordered as Gwen ran off.
Peter ran into an alley as he took off his clothes and put on his Spider-Man suit.
In the box office was a shattered safe, where the man in scorpion suit that Spider-Man recognized as the one Toomes was selling one if his weapons to, Mac Gargan, was collecting cash into his bag.
"Grab him!" One of the guards yelled.
"I don't think so!" Gargan said, knocking the guards away with the tail before Spider-Man swung in. "You!"
"Itsy bitsy scorpion." Spider-Man quipped as he dodged, while Gargan fired an energy blast from his tail. "Missed by a long shot."
"Wasn't aiming at you." Gargan said before Spider-Man heard cracking and looked above to see the scaffolding collapse and ceiling crack.
"Oh, no." Spider-Man immediately zipped up. "Karen, find all the weak spots!" He hoped it would not end like with the Staten Island ferry, while he tried to web the scaffolding as the civilians were panicking and running. Spider-Man glued the scaffolding and cracked ceiling as fast as he could, while Gargan ran off.
Spider-Man swung out to follow Gargan, who used his suit to climb up. Before Spider-Man could catch up, he had to dodge, when darts flew towards him.
"An interesting prey for a spider."
Spider-Man looked around for the source of the voice before a bearded muscular man in a furry coat jumped down, trying to kick him but Spider-Man dodged.
"Your reflexes are unlike any other animal I have hunted." The man said with a thick Russian accent.
"Who are you supposed to be? Tarzan?" Spider-Man asked.
"The name's Kraven. Kraven the Hunter. And like any hunter, I shall play with my prey." Kraven said as he pulled out a pair of kukri knives.
Spider-Man dodged, when Kraven attacked as they exchanged blows but Spider-Man soon enough realized that Kraven was faster and stronger than any ordinary human as Spider-Man was forced to rely on his reflexes to avoid being cut down. Spider-Man jumped behind Kraven and kicked him in the back as Kraven fell down.
"Oh, craven off." Spider-Man quipped.
Kraven dropped a smoke bomb on the ground as it exploded, while Spider-Man coughed. Kraven attempted to punch him but Spider-Man's spider sense helped him dodge in time before he grabbed Kraven and slammed him to the ground. Kraven got up and threw his kukri knives like boomerangs but Spider-Man flipped away without letting the blades scratch him before Spider-Man webbed towards the pole above and swung like a pendulum, kicking Kraven to the upper rooftop.
But Spider-Man then sensed danger as he jumped away, while Gargan fired lasers from his tail. Spider-Man webbed Kraven to the ground, subduing him before jumping down at Gargan, kicking him in the face as Gargan fell back but he recovered.
"That's enough. We wanted to test Spider-Man, not kill him." Octavius said over the comms.
"Screw you. Spider-Man burned my face! He has to pay for it!" Gargan yelled before he lifted a car in the air and threw it at Spider-Man, who webbed it in the air in between the lampposts, leaving it hanging before it would hit the civilians.
Spider-Man slid down as Gargan swung his tail and kicked him in the chest and then fired a web and pulled himself towards Gargan, punching him in the face. Gargan got up, glaring as he swung his tail but Spider-Man dodged and webbed the tail before he swung around with Gargan like a spinning top until the tail was ripped off and Gargan crashed to the wall before Spider-Man webbed him, subduing him.
"Anyone else?" Spider-Man quipped as the crowd cheered, while he noticed Gwen, who was looking at him in admiration.
Later, Queens
"That was awesome!" Gwen said as she and Peter walked down the street towards his house.
"Did you see how I kicked their asses?" Peter asked.
"Are you kidding me? I'm pretty sure half the world saw it by now!" Gwen said as she pulled out the phone, where was a YouTube video of Spider-Man fighting the villains before she noticed Peter's eyes narrow. "I thought you'd be happy."
"It's not that. I am happy but also worried. They said there were more of them, so I wonder how many of them will I have to take on." Peter said.
"Well, I'm sure you will—" Gwen stopped, when Peter opened the door and they faced a middle-aged man who was sitting on the couch, with Aunt May pouring him a mug of coffee.
"Gwen. Peter. Hi." Aunt May said.
"So this is Peter." The man said as he got up and Gwen paled and Peter tensed, seeing the family resemblance.
"Dad." Gwen said nervously as her father approached Peter, who could feel himself shrink.
"I heard a lot about you. George Stacy." George offered his hand. "I hope you won't mind that I stay here for dinner. I'd like to get to know my daughter's friend better."
Hope I handled the Peter/Gwen conversation well and hope you liked the reference to Spectacular Spider-Man.
George Stacy would be played by Kevin Sorbo.
So, what do you guys think about it?
