Green Hal37: Yep. It certainly wouldn't. There are little equals to that line.

Guest: Yep.

Devoe Residence

Late afternoon

Marlize stared down at the blueprints she had been working on for Clifford's chair before tossing them into the fire place. As the flames licked the paper, burning it, Marlize moved to join Cisco, Caitlin and the T-800 in tearing apart her plans for the technology that would eventually create Skynet.

"What will you do after this?" Caitlin asked curiously and Marlize shrugged.

"I don't know. I think I might go home, visit my family," Marlize said thoughtfully. "There's nothing holding me here besides Clifford."

"When you said stop him…what did you mean?" Caitlin asked cautiously.

"You know what Ms. Snow," Marlize said after a moment. "Even before Clifford was exposed to the dark matter that will drive him mad, he believed that technology was the cause of the world's problems. If I don't stop him now, he will find another way and help bring about the end of the world. He is my husband; I'll be the one to stop him. It will break my heart but it is the only way to ensure Skynet never comes to be."

"It's just…its murder. It's wrong," Caitlin told her and Marlize gave her an unreadable look.

"Sometimes, the greater good is best served by an evil act. The difficulty of humans is trying to figure out when that is," Marlize told her gently.

In the corner, where he sat in his chair by the couch where they had laid the unconscious Barry, Thawne eyed her thoughtfully. Like him, Marlize Devoe understood that there must be sacrifices in the grand scheme of things. To serve the many, sometimes you must sacrifice the few.

Thawne was broken out of his thoughts by hearing the sound of a car door shutting. Looking out the window, he stilled as he saw Devoe making his way towards the front door, assisted by a cane.

"We have a problem," he said and the others turned to him. "Devoe is home."

"His last class ended almost an hour ago," Marlize said nonchalantly and Caitlin looked at her startled.

"You knew he was coming. You didn't say anything so we wouldn't be able to stop you," Caitlin realized and Marlize gave her a sad look.

"As I told you Ms. Snow, the greater good is sometimes served by an evil act. This is one such time," Marlize told her.

Before anyone could say anything, the front door opened. Devoe walked in, pausing as he took notice of their guests.

"Marlize, who-"

That was as far as he got. Without a word, Marlize pulled out a gun and fired. Devoe cried out, stumbling back as blood poured from his leg. He lost his footing, tumbling to the floor, his cane falling a few inches away.

"Hey! Whoa! We did not sign up for this!" Cisco exclaimed as he jumped back in shock.

"It doesn't matter what you signed up for Mr. Ramon. What matters is what is best for the future," Marlize said, her voice trembling slightly, something which only Caitlin noticed.

"Why?" Devoe asked painfully as Marlize mad her way over to him. "Why do you hate me so much that you would kill me?"

"It's not that I hate you Clifford. In a perfect world, we would be able to live the rest of our lives together. But because of what you'll do, what you'll become…I have to do this Clifford. I have to kill you," Marlize said, openly crying as she shakily took aim at him.

"No you don't," Caitlin said as she walked over to her, stepping up beside her.

"I don't have a choice," Marlize said brokenly.

"We always have a choice. We can't save humanity by casting off our own. Saving the future shouldn't just be about making sure we live, it should be about saving our humanity. We can't stop the machines by becoming them," Caitlin told her passionately.

For several long moments, the room was silent. Then, Marlize dropped the gun, sinking to her knees as she sobbed openly.

"What is going on?" Devoe asked, placing his hand over his wound.

Before anyone could respond, they heard the roar of a motorcycle. They all looked up as a police issued motorcycle rolled up onto the front lawn, an officer wearing a helmet. As he pulled to a stop outside the house, he got off and began approaching the house. As he did, he pulled off the helmet, revealing the T-1000.

"Get to safety," T-800 ordered as he stepped forward, grabbing his shotgun and Marlize's pistol. "Now."

Marlize and Caitlin helped Devoe to his feet as Cisco grabbed Barry's unconscious form. Wells led the group out of the room as the T-1000 entered the house. The two Terminators eyed each other for a moment before they struck.

The T-1000 knocked the weapons out of T-800's hands before punching him, sending him crashing into a wall. T-800's impact caused the wall to crack before he grabbed his counterpart and they took turns slamming each other against the wall. T-800 pushed him face first into the wall but T-1000 twisted his form around before lunging for T-800. T-800 tried to punch the other Terminator, but, to his surprise, his fist went right through the head as T-1000 returned to its liquid form. Returning to solid form so that he had his arm wrapped around T-800's, T-1000 whirled around so he could slam the T-800's head through the wall.

In the kitchen, Marlize had locked the door as Cisco placed the unconscious Barry in a chair at the kitchen table while Caitlin helped Devoe into a chair on the other side of the table. As Caitlin assessed Devoe's wound, Cisco and Marlize moved a cabinet in front of the table, creating a barrier between them and the T-1000.

"I have something that can stop that thing," Cisco told the others once they had finished. "But we need to get to our car."

"You're just mentioning this?" Caitlin asked incredulously.

"It didn't exist until last night. It's a long story but I need to get to the car," Cisco said hurriedly.

"There's an entrance to the back, I'll get you there," Marlize promised.

T-1000 used the couch to push the T-800 into the wall. Seeing Devoe's cane nearby, T-800 maneuvered so he was able to grab it before plunging it into T-1000. As T-1000 staggered back, T-800 pushed the couch back, sending the other terminator to the ground. Returning to liquid form, T-1000 freed itself from his predicament and returned to solid form, ready to fight.

After locking the entrance to the kitchen, Marlize and Cisco left out the side door, heading to the car and leaving Caitlin and Thawne with the wounded Devoe and unconscious Barry.

"What is happening?" Devoe asked as he put a hand on his wounded leg. "Who are those men? Why is my wife trying to kill me?"

"It's…complicated," Caitlin said lamely. "You see-"

Whatever Caitlin was going to say was cut off when she was struck in the back of the head by a nearby frying pan. She went down to the floor, unconscious and Devoe looked up to see Thawne, getting to his feet, dropping the frying pan a foot from Caitlin.

"I'm sorry for this," Thawne said remorselessly as he pulled out a gun. "But it's necessary."

T-1000 struck T-800 across the face with Devoe's cane, sending the Terminator stumbling back. The-1000 then struck T-800 with the cane repeatedly until he went down to the floor, the last blow so powerful that it shattered half the cane. Throwing away the broken cane, T-1000's arm took the shape of a long sword. He was about to shove it through T-800's chest when he heard footsteps entering the room.

Looking over his shoulder, he saw Cisco and Marlize enter the room through the front door. Cisco was holding the Cold Gun and taking aim at him.

"Screw you, evil Threepio," Cisco said before he fired.

However, instead of a blue beam, this time the T-1000 was hit with an orange-red beam. And it hurt, a lot. It let out a loud, high pitched shriek as it liquid started to burn, turning a hard, dark grey. Cisco, Marlize and the T-800 watched as the T-1000 tried to change shape, going from the police officer to Joe West to his daughter Iris to various others they didn't recognize. Finally, it gave a loud shriek before it turned into liquid and fell to the floor. The stream burned a hole in the floor but otherwise left no evidence of the T-1000.

"Is it dead?" Marlize asked after a moment.

"Terminated," T-800 corrected as he got to his feet.

"You alright?" Cisco asked as he lowered the Cold Gun.

"I need a vacation," T-800 said as he eyed the Gold Gun. "What did you do?"

"Well, I figured since cold wouldn't bring it down, I'd try my luck with heat. I spent half the night trying to make the Cold Gun into a Heat Gun," Cisco explained.

Suddenly, they heard a gunshot. Immediately, T-800 rushed towards the source, Cisco and Marlize following him, horrible scenarios running through their minds. They came upon the blocked door to the kitchen. T800 kicked the door in, the force of his kick knocking the cabinet aside, and they entered, taking in the scene.

Caitlin was on the floor, unconscious as Wells stared at the table, seemingly in shock. Across from the unconscious Barry sat Devoe with a bullet wound in his head, a gun in his hand. Blood was all over his head and the wall behind him.

"Clifford," Marlize said brokenly as she walked over to her husband, tears running down her face.

"What happened?" Cisco asked Thawne.

"I had a gun on me for protection. He took it, knocked Caitlin out and demanded I tell him what was going on. When I did, he took his own life," Thawne said making sure to sound shocked.

"The guilt," Marlize said, swallowing her emotions and wiping her eyes. "It must have been too much for him to bear."

Feeling a strange sensation in his hands, T-800 looked down to see his hands were now covered in glowing, blue marks.

"Whoa, what is happening?!" Cisco exclaiming as he saw this, drawing Thawne and Marlize's attention.

"The new timeline is setting in," Thawne muttered.

"New timeline?" Marlize repeated and Thawne nodded.

"The one your husband created when he took his own life. Without him, you will never create the technology that gives birth to Skynet. Which means Judgment Day will never happen and Skynet will never create the Terminators."

"And Barry and I will never reprogram one to send back," Cisco realized and Thawne nodded. "Well there has to be something we can do! He saved us, we have to save him!"

"You cannot," T-800 said and they turned to him. "It is already done Cisco."

"No! There has to be something we can do! We can..." Cisco trailed off, a tear trailing down his cheek.

"I know now why you cry," T-800 said as, for the first time, he smiled. "Even though I cannot. It's okay Cisco. Everything will be as it is supposed to be."

Not another word was spoken as the T-800's body turned blue and it came apart, turning into pieces that fell to the floor and then vanished seconds later. Cisco simply stared, mourning the machine that had been their protector and friend.

And, as Marlize cried over her husband's corpse, Thawne watched indifferent, knowing it had needed to be done.

Hope the action scenes were okay, as I'm not completely satisfied with those.

Considering what we've seen it do, I think it's a high possibility that the Heat Gun could take down the T-1000. Whether Cisco could actually turn the Cold Gun into a Heat Gun is another question, but hey, we've seen Cisco pull off weirder things.

I went back and forth on Devoe's fate but ultimately, while Marlize, at least at this point in the series, wouldn't be able to bring herself to kill him, Thawne would simply not allow him to live and leave the threat of Skynet hanging over his head.

Cisco and T-800's probably wasn't as emotionally charged as John and T-800's, but I hope I did a good job on it in any case.

This story will have one more chapter left to wrap everything up, which should be sometime within the next week or so.
