This isn't a very long chapter, I know, but it will help set up the first main Arc of the story. So for now, I hope you guys enjoy it.

England

Morning

Barry blindly reached out and shut off his alarm clock. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Barry sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as he took in his room at the compound.

It had been three weeks since he had arrived in this new world, three weeks since he had joined the 'Scoobies' as they called themselves. They were all settling in at the Compound; Barry could tell Buffy was still trying to figure out a plan. Barry emphasized with her, he remembered a few months ago when they had all found out about Thawne, how Cisco, Joe and Caitlin all looked to him for answers. But Buffy struck him as someone who wouldn't take kindly to someone she barely knew trying to give her advice. So Barry thought it best to simply wait, hoping Buffy could figure out some kind of plan.

Barry got out of bed and dressed himself before exiting his room. Barry made his way towards the auditorium, which was basically just a big open space with a few picnic tables placed around the room. Giles and Willow, with Xander's help, had set up a kitchen nearby upon their arrival at the Compound.

As Barry moved to get whatever Willow and Giles had cooked this morning, he spotted Faith sitting alone at one of the tables. She sat alone a lot, he noticed. After he put a few scoops of eggs on a plate, Barry made his way over to Faith's table.

"Hey," Barry said and she looked up from her table.

"Hey," she echoed.

"Mind if I join you?" Barry asked.

"You sure you don't wanna hang with them?" Faith asked, gesturing over to a table where Xander and Dawn were sitting with some other Slayers.

"Was never really one for crowds," Barry said as he sat down across from her. "Besides, still not sure where I fit in here."

"Well, that makes two of us," Faith said with a shrug before picking up a piece of egg with her fork.

Barry was silent as he began digging into his own food. In the few weeks he had been here, it was clear to him that there was some tension between Faith and the rest of the Scoobies. At times, they seemed to treat her like one of them, but at others she seemed like an outsider. There was clearly a history and not a pleasant one. But Barry stayed out of it; it was none of his business.

"So, how you likin' it here so far?" Faith asked after a moment of silence.

"Five by five," Barry joked, drawing a slight laugh from her. "It's alright. Just not sure why I'm here. I mean, why does Lorne think I need to stick with you guys?"

"Eh, that's probably a conversation you should have with Willow or Giles," Faith said with a shrug. "Not so good at the big life questions, you know?"

"Me either," Barry admitted, thinking of all the times he had gone to Oliver, Joe and Thawne for advice.

"Barry."

Barry and Faith looked up from the table, finding Buffy standing nearby with a blank look on her face.

"We need you in my office," Buffy said before pausing and looking over at Faith. "You should come to Faith."

It didn't escape Barry or Faith's notice how reluctant Buffy seemed to be to include Faith in this. But it was still an invitation, one that Faith was more than happy to accept.

"Sure thing B," Faith said, picking up her plate. "Wasn't very hungry anyway."

After Barry and Faith had deposited their plates at the wash station, Buffy led them to her office. As they entered the room, they saw Giles and Willow were already there, going over some kind of paperwork.

"Barry," Giles said as he looked up, frowning as he saw Faith. "Faith."

"G," Faith said, not seeming to take any offense.

"Barry," Willow said, shooting Giles a look before looking back at Barry. "You're a CSI, right?"

"Yeah, why?" Barry asked wearily, sensing something was up.

"I have some contacts in the London police," Giles said, moving his attention back to Barry. "There have been two murders in town."

"That's awful, but I'm not sure what that has to do with me," Barry said, not sure why they had come to him with this.

"The victims died when their hearts seemed to combust for no apparent reason," Giles explained.

"The heart just seems to be blown to pieces out of the blue," Willow explained, handing Barry some of the paperwork. "Giles' friend sent over the autopsy report. It's…weird, even by our standards."

"You think a demon might be involved?" Faith asked as Barry began looking over the report at super speed.

"It's possible, but I've never heard of one that can destroy someone's heart," Giles told her.

"We thought since you're a CSI, you might be able to have some insight," Willow told Barry as he finished reading the report. "Find something that the police couldn't."

"Is it possible I can examine one of the bodies?" Barry asked a thoughtful look on his face.

"They won't exactly let you perform an autopsy," Buffy pointed out.

"I don't need to. I just need to take a look at the body," Barry assured her.

"You have an idea?" Faith asked.

"A theory," Barry said, looking at the paperwork with a thoughtful look on his face. "I need to see the body to confirm it."

"I believe I can arrange that, just let me make a call," Giles assured him

London

Later In the morning

Outside the view of the station, Barry and Giles sped into the parking lot. Almost immediately, Giles kneeled over and vomited.

"Sorry," Barry apologized, wincing as he patted Giles on the back.

"It is quite alright," Giles said gruffly, bringing out a handkerchief and wiping his mouth. "Let's get to it, shall we?"

Barry and Giles entered the precinct and Giles led Barry over to an older man around Giles' age.

"Rupert," the man said, holding his hand out to Giles.

"Hello Liam," Giles said friendly, grabbing his hand in a handshake. "Barry, this is Liam, an old friend. Liam this is Barry."

"The American CSI," Liam noted and Giles nodded.

"I know I'm stepping on your toes, but if you want to stop whoever killed these people…I need to see the body. I just need to be sure what we're dealing with," Barry said firmly.

At a hospital, the officer pulled a drawer open in the morgue, revealing the body.

"Luckily, it hasn't been prepped for the funeral yet," Liam explained to Barry and Giles. "We have five minute, so take a look."

Liam walked out of the room, standing guard as Barry walked over to the body. Lifting the sheet off the body, Barry looked at the wound. And his worst fears were confirmed.

"Giles…you know just about every species of demon there is, right?" Barry asked lowly.

"It is impossible to know every species, but I know of all known species, yes," Giles confirmed.

"Do any of them have the ability of super speed?" Barry asked, looking over at Giles.

"Like you?" Giles asked surprised and Barry nodded. "No, not that I am aware of. What is it Barry? What are you thinking?"

"The way this heart was destroyed…it didn't explode. The heart was shredded to pieces when an object the same density as a brick wall struck it without leaving a dent on the body," Barry said as he closed the drawer. "These people, they weren't killed by a demon. They were killed by another speedster."

I'm pretty sure most of you can guess who this speedster is, who will be one of the main villains of the first Arc. And yes, I said one of the main villains. The first Arc will have multiple villains.

And I'm not an expert on what can be told from looking at a wound, so whatever doesn't make sense, just go with it.
