Hello again everyone, here I brought to you chapter 23, hope you all enjoy it.
"Are you sure you don't need something else" my mom asked me for like the tenth time, "Mom, I'll be fine" I said to calm her, she nodded in respond, I was about to enter the gym when she stopped me, "Sailer wait, take this" she said and then handed me a Poke ball, "What be this?" I asked "It's Lycanroc's Poke ball" she answered, Lycanroc, who had been following my mom since we left the Poke center, walked towards me and began to smell the Poke ball, "where did ye get this from?" I asked confused, "Last night while you were sleeping, I went out to look for the former Lycanroc's owners, at first they didn't want to give it to me, so I called the police, we got to the agreement that there would be no charges in exchange that they gave me Lycanroc's jurisdiction, and now I give it to you" I didn't knew what to say at first, "Why?" I asked still confused, "Well, this poor soul need some love and attention, and with you on your journey, there is no one more apt for that job, and because he will be really helpful if you want to win this battle, I'll be in the spectator's room, good luck son" she entered the gym first, I took a time to think and create a strategy.
Like my mom said Lycanroc would be very useful, he is a rock type, and for that reason strong against ice types, my other pick would be Lucario, both the steel and fighting type are super effective, I would use him against the gym leader ace, and for my third choice, both Servine and Gible are weak against ice moves, so between Raichu and Zoroark I'll pick Raichu, he conveniently learned Iron tail, don't ask me how, I don't know either, but I'll take that to my advantage, now with a plan, I crossed the gym door and got hit by a wake of cold air, "Fer a Seaking horn this place is cold" my teeth began to rattled seconds after I entered the place, but the low temperature wasn't going to stop me, I walked down the frozen path, almost felling a few times. It took me a while, but I eventually got there, and in front of me was my next challenge, standing in front me was Brycen, wearing the clothes that you would less expect to see in an Ice type gym leader, "Welcome to Icirrus city gym trainer, I am the gym leader Brycen, I supposed you are here for a battle, if that is the case let's get to the action" then Brycen took a Poke ball and from it came a Vanillish, I took Raichu's Poke ball and called him to the battle field, and that way, the battle began.
"Raichu, show that flying ice cream who the boss be! Thunderounch!" Raichu took impulse and prepared to jump towards Vanillish, "Vanillish, Frost Breath!" the ice type Pokémon opened his mouth and from it a wave of freezing air began to move at full speed towards Raichu, before the attack could hit him, he slipped out of the attack reach, he was under Vanillish. Using this to his advantage he jumped and with all his force punched the ice type, that launched Vanillish down to the ground, but in a blink recovered and returned to the air, "Mirror shot!" the Pokémon flashed a bright light that temporally blinding both I and Raichu, and then a ray beam hit Raichu and launched him almost getting out of the battle field, but he got up, "He may be tough lad, but I know ye be more, Iron Tail!" Raichu ran at full speed, jumped and began spinning to get more potency in his attack, "Vanillish use Astonish!" Vanillish launched himself against Raichu too, but before he could land his attack, he encountered Raichu's Iron Tail, "Don't give it room to recover, Thuderbolt!" without losing time Raichu launched a big amount of energy against Vanillish and after receiving the attack, the ice type Pokémon fell to the ground out of combat.
"Good job lad, ye show who be the boss" I said congratulating Raichu, "Chu" he answered, "Well Mr. Brycen, who be yer next Pokémon?" I asked with a confident smile, Brycen then took another Poke ball, "Go now Cryogonal" the Pokémon elevated even higher than Vanillish, "Alright lad, Thunderbolt!" I commanded "Aurora Beam, now!" the ice type Pokémon launched a colorful beam that contrasted Raichu's attack, "Jump back!" I yelled so Raichu wouldn't just stay there and take the attack, he moved out of the way just in time, "Retaliate with Iron Tail!" Raichu jumped towards Cryogonal, "Frost Breath!" the wave of frozen air hit Raichu, it not only damaged him, but contrasted his Iron Tail as well, it seems that I can repeat the same strategy. I retrieved Raichu, and after thinking it for a moment I took Lycanroc's Poke ball, "I hope mom knew what she was doing" I said to myself, "Alright, show them yer power use…" then I remembered I didn't know what moves he knew, "Hey Mr. Brycen, may ye excuse me fer a moment?" he nodded, that is one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.
I looked around in case I could see mom nearby, I then got hit by a piece of paper, I picked it up, in there were 4 moves, the moves that Lycanroc knew, my mom throwed it from wherever she was, "Thanks fer waiting, now, let's get back to the action, Lycanroc, use Rock Throw!" I commanded, he hesitated for a moment, but after a moment he launched the attack, Cryogonal didn't need an order, he just moved out of the way, Lycanroc needed to be faster attacking, or I could try to adapt to his battle style, "Use bite!" he seemed to be agreed with that, because I had just finished saying it when he was already running towards Cryogonal. So that was the key, for a long time he had to trust in his instincts to fight, so is obvious that if he think that an attack is not going to be effective it will take a time for him to do it, so I had to adapt my battle style to his if I wanted the win, "Cryogonal, use Rapid Spin" the ice type began spinning as the name said, Lycanroc tried to bite it, but he got launched back, just a short distance away from me, "This won't work… Lycanroc, I need ye to trust me, you'll have to wait until I give the order, it is necessary if we want to win, now follow me lead" he though it for a second, but eventually agreed, "Hey Brycen, was that yer best attack?, a Wooper could give better punches than that, don't ye think" Lycanroc answered with a deep and rather scary laugh, I knew that a guy like Brycen would get mad with that, but he would try to teach me a lesson, and I was going to use that, "Cryogonal Frost Breath" the ice Pokémon followed his command, "Now Lycanroc, Counter!" it happened what was expected, Lycanroc received the damage and then with a quick move hit Cryogonal with a powerful attack, leaving it out of combat, "Good job lad" I said, then Brycen for his last Pokémon used a Beartic, I called Lycanroc back so Lucario could deal with the big polar bear, it went as you could expect, with the double type advantage Lucartio defeated Beartic, and I added another badge to my collection, after that we returned to the Poke center, there my mom congratulated me and my Pokémon for winning the battle, she gave me a big hug and the left the place, she said she had some business to do. That is what everyone says before leaving, or they just work a lot, or they are hiding something from me, and for what my mom told me about my dad, I think is the second option.
