A/N: Hey, just a little one-shot, unbeta'd. Hope you enjoy it. Takes place present day.
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck
She stood at the door to the Bartowski apartment. Sarah was thrilled Ellie had called. Sarah couldn't believe Chuck had broken his leg, and she was looking for some excuse to visit him now that the Halloween party was canceled. Ellie had told her to help herself to anything tonight, but Sarah really didn't think that meant Ellie's brother. She grinned and slowly opened the door. Chuck was sitting on the couch, his back to the door, watching It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
She slowly crept up behind him, and leaned in close. "I vant to suck your blood," she said in her best hokey vampire accent.
"Hey, Sarah," he said, bending his head back, and looking up at her, a sad smile on his face. "Sorry you have to come over here."
"Wait, I didn't scare you?"
"No," Chuck told her, as she went back to shut the door. She came back and plopped down on the couch beside him. "Nice costume." Sarah smiled at him. She had on a traditional vampire costume, complete with a cape and fake teeth. He shook his head.
"I thought you like it?"
"Oh, I do, but I'm wondering how many guys had an inappropriate sucking comment when they saw you," Chuck told her. He sighed, and looked back toward the TV.
"Okay, Chuck, do you want to talk about this? I mean, I know breaking your leg sucks, but you will heal."
"Oh, I know," Chuck replied. "It's just…I can't be scared, I can't be frightened, I'm emotionally dead inside. The Buy More has taken away all terror because every time I'm there, it's the most frightening thing ever."
Sarah sighed. Tonight was going to be the night she asked him out. She liked Chuck, she really liked him, but he was right, the Buy More was slowly draining life out of him.
"Why were you up on the ladder contraption thing?" Chuck grinned at her description of it. "I mean, shouldn't the green shirts be up there stocking?"
"Morgan couldn't reach what he was after," Chuck explained. "Morgan was supposed to have locked the wheels, but he didn't. Anna walked by, and Morgan turned to watch her go by, pushing the 'ladder contraption thing,' on accident." Sarah snickered at him using her own description. "Morgan realized what he had done and grabbed it to stop it. However, Morgan didn't know I had managed to regain my balance, but the sudden stop, made me lose my balance and tumble over the side…on to Jeff…who was either so drunk or so high he never really felt much and was absolutely fine." Chuck looked at his leg that was in a cast. "I however…." He trailed off, thrusting his hands in the direction of his leg.
Because of his broken leg, Ellie took some time off to help Chuck. She ended up having to cancel the Halloween party, and knowing that kids loved coming by and getting candy she wanted someone at her apartment to help Chuck hand out the candy so he didn't have to get up and down with his broken leg all night.
"So you can't be frightened or scared now?" Sarah asked. Chuck just shrugged. Sarah grinned and reached into her bag and pulled out the movies Morgan had sent with her. "So if I were to put in Paranormal Activity, you wouldn't be scared?"
"Not. A. Lick," Chuck told her.
"Are you…sure?" she was grinning at him as she went over and put the DVD in.
"Play it," he said crossing his arms and looking at her in defiance.
She plopped down beside him picked up the remote, and paused. "Last chance."
Chuck reached over and hit play.

"Scared?" Sarah asked, noticing that he was right beside her and a little snuggled into her side.
"No, just unseasonably cool this time of year," Chuck told her. Sarah grinned at him. "Maybe I'm making a move on you." She gave him an amused look. "Fine, I was a little…concerned, but I'm okay."
"I think it's time we up the ante," Sarah said, swapping out the first film for the sequel. She walked over, and flipped out the lights. She heard Chuck audibly gulp. "Last chance."
She sat down beside him and held the remote. "I can handle it if you can." Sarah hit play and she swore she heard him swear under his breath.

"So?" Sarah asked, looking at his head basically buried in her shoulder.
"You have very comfortable shoulders and after everything I've been through with my leg I enjoy comfort. I apologize for not asking first." The look on Chuck's face said even he didn't believe what he was saying.
She was grinning so hard she thought her face would split. They both knew he was full of it, but he was trying so hard to go along with this game that she was going to let him have it. "Well, if you're sure you can handle the next one." She paused and then locked eyes with him. "And never apologize for cuddling next to me."
"I don't know that I was cuddling," he muttered as she put in the third one.
"Fine, you were scared to death and needed me to hold you," Sarah said, sitting down beside him, and drop an arm around his shoulders.
"Fine, I was cuddling," Chuck replied.
Sarah bounced a shoulder. "Either way, it's fine.

"Chuck, how are you on my lap?" Sarah asked as the movie ended.
"I'm crazy about you and made an inappropriate move, I'm sorry," he blurted out, his arms wrapped around her and his head buried in her shoulder.
"Chuck, I have no problem you being in my lap, the question is how? Your leg is broken, you shouldn't have pushed off on in. One second you were beside me the next….you were in my lap."
"Fine," Chuck muttered. "When the guy got his neck broke….I may have shot into the air from fright."
"I know," she said softly, squeezing him. The movie stopped and the entire apartment was dark. "Oh shit."
"Sarah," Chuck said, terror in his voice. She quickly found something on TV to bring light back into the room. "Uh…"
"Ellie and Devon are gone all night, aren't they?" Chuck nodded. "Fine, I'm spending the night so you aren't scared of the dark."
"I am NOT scared of the dark," Chuck insisted.
"Fine, then I'll just go home," she told him. Chuck didn't move off of her lap. "Chuck."
"I'm scared, Sarah, please stay." She grinned at him.
"Absolutely," she told him.
"Good, now I don't have to worry about something attacking you," Chuck muttered. Sarah laughed.
"Chuck, I got you," Sarah said softly. "It's okay to be scared you know."
"I know," Chuck admitted. "But it's just…the Buy More…."
"Then let me help you find a job." Chuck was silent a moment and nodded. He slid off of her lap back on the couch.
"I'll be okay tonight, you can go home," Chuck said. "And I'd love some help finding a new job."
"I can't leave you alone tonight, Chuck, I'll worry about you."
Chuck narrowed his eyes at her. "You're scared too."
Sarah was silent for a second. "OF COURSE I AM!" she replied, making Chuck laugh. "That was NUTS!"
"If I get scared tonight, and cuddle against you," Chuck began.
"I think it's best we just start out that way," Sarah told him.
"Thank you, Sarah," Chuck said. He looked down and then back up at her. "Listen…would you like to go to the movies some time…watch…I don't know."
"A Disney movie, maybe," she offered.
"Oh God, no, those things make me cry," Chuck admitted. "When Mufasa dies…waterworks."
"Whatever you want to see, Chuck, I'll gladly go," Sarah told him.
"Thank you, Sarah." Chuck looked around the room. "Uh, one of us should get the lights." Sarah patted his leg, got up, walked over, and turned on the lights. When she turned around, her eyes widened, Chuck was nowhere to be seen.
"Chuck?" she called out.
"What?" he asked, popping his head up, where he had been lying prone on the couch. Sarah's eyes narrowed, and he knew what she was going to do. "My leg! My leg!"
A few seconds later, he found himself on his back on the couch, Sarah having pounced him. He wasn't saying anything because she was kissing him. She pulled up and looked down at him. "That wasn't nice."
"I enjoyed the kiss," Chuck told her. Sarah giggled at him. "I'm sorry, you're just such a badass, and I'm…well…me."
"And that's who I like," she blurted out.
"Really?"
"Mmhmm," she hummed. "Now, I am tired, and we need some sleep, so, are you going to behave, and we go to bed."
"You're the one that pounced me," he reminded her. She bounced a shoulder, got up off of him, and helped him up. He started down the hallway with his crutches.
"You're not shutting off the lights?" Sarah asked him. Chuck gave her a look and went into his room. "Screw it," she said, and went to bed, leaving them on.
A/N: True story, my wife and I went and saw Paranormal Activity 3 in theaters with friends. We were in the front row. My wife and I basically stared at the floor all night we were so freaking terrified. Happy Halloween everyone.
