Well, I can finally write this part of the story being one of the most epic and dramatic in the movie, you know what I mean. I hope you enjoy it.
Chapter 7: As long as breath comes from my mouth
21/11/2021
Imperial Capitol - Pendragon City - Holy Britannian Empire
There was not much to say within the chamber of the Imperial Senate itself where several important members of the Upper House as well as the Lower House attended without fail to discuss an issue very important about how to respond to the events that were taking place in Area 11. The whole room himself was involved in a mixture of shock, nervousness, or fear on the part of the large number of senators gathered here. Among them was Chancellor Schneizel sitting in his personal seat at the back of the huge hall, as a catalyst for the government's response to this new crisis never before seen and faced by man.
The slow movements of the super radioactive charred creature through the city reflected by the large screen taped to the main wall of the senate, made the white prince too much to think about this. He still couldn't believe that an animal of that enormous size could still be pacing like that even after running into the defense forces and managed to get away with it like nothing. It had been 2 hours since the failure of Operation Black Angels, and since then the attacks consisting of mobile artillery and Knightmares had completely ceased because that was not enough to drive him back. However, the airstrikes still persisted in the hope of accomplishing something, but nothing. Inside, Schneizel was very surprised by the invulnerability of this creature, and despite having directly bombarded him either in the face and in the legs for almost an hour in Operation Black Angels, little effect emerged, but nothing to force him out of its trajectory and it continued forward as if nothing had happened.
What puzzled the prince the most was the fact that the creature did not seem to react at all to the physical contacts of all sorts of objects looming over it as if it did not notice them at all. Any animal, even the size of Godzilla, they would react either violently or shocked if something causing pain came into contact with their body, but this super mutated creature did not. It did not feel absolute pain, nor did it retaliate towards its attackers as if it did not see them or was not aware that they were under its nose, and it simply continued to walk forward at the same pace as always.
The way it walked so passively leaving only a trail of destruction in its wake, it made him think that Godzilla was not 'consciously' attacking as if it were a mindless force of destruction like a hurricane or a tsunami. The fact that a giant animal walked in that way without being aware of its surroundings and without causing intentional destruction, as he was seeing it, seemed a bit surreal to him in addition to its image appearing inanimate like a zombie, which caused a little shiver and the rest of the Senate who were witnessing this gathered here to discuss the problem.
"This is a disaster." A senator spoke with concern and indignation. "But is there no way to stop this thing?"
"All the weaponry was ineffective on that thing as if it were immortal." Added another. "At this rate it will reach Tokyo in 2 hours."
"And no one can think of a solution for that !?" Shouted another with fury and indignation in his voice. "If that thing is still out there causing chaos, imagine the collateral damage it could do."
Schneizel knew he was right. Despite his normally calm and stoic exterior, on the inside he couldn't help feeling restless and nervous. Sitting in his personal seat, the prince pondered the calamities both external and internal if that monster reached the capital of the domain. It was unknown how much radioactivity it could expel, but with its sheer size and the fact that it could withstand such a torment of bombing without a problem, it was evident that he did not even want to know what else it could do to turn everything into hell.
But the real hell would be that once it reached Tokyo and even though it probably wouldn't cause any collateral damage if it walked at that pace, just as it had been doing since it emerged from the waters, it would still cause panic throughout the population whether Britannians citizens or Elevens, and if the army could not do something to stop it, they would be forced to leave the place, just like the ruling elite including his half-brother Clovis, and that would be a sign of weakness that some could take advantage of.
The fact that the army commanded by General Bartley did not manage to make a single scratch on the super radioactive beast, was a sign of weakness and humiliation that despite having used fire to placate it, just as the first humans did when they discovered it from casual way to make their lives easier and scare off dangerous beasts, but this time it was an exception, and it didn't help. If order were not to be reestablished, it was a matter of time that riots would break out in the other cities, either due to panic or rebellions on the part of the Elevens who want to take advantage of the weak state of the domain and thus make their control more difficult.
Between Godzilla and the pro-Britannians rebellions it was impossible to maintain stable order, and with most forces fighting in Europe, there was hardly anything to be done about it. If this continues, he will not want to know what kind of consequences would happen in the future as a result of this.
"At this time the Chinese Federation has sent a statement to send its forces there to do the job." Said another senator which was an unpleasant surprise to others.
"What!?"
"That's ridiculous!" Exclaimed another with indignation. "Who gave them permission to enter our territory?"
"Remember that few government ambassadors work in the embassy after the conquest of Area 11." The senator himself argued. "They don't want to lose the Sakuradite fields as much as we do."
Thus, the semicircle began to debate between protests, confusion, etc., about the fact that the Chinese had moved chips in the matter and began to mobilize their forces, but not in conjunction with the Britannians forces to end Godzilla once and for all. However, some knew that despite their 'so-called' help, nothing would change the tide.
"Your Highness." A senator like the other uttered and the rest turned their heads to where the prince sat. "The situation is very serious right now. We must respond immediately with stronger forces right now." He speaks sternly to the prince.
Despite agreeing with the senator, the chancellor was still undecided as to what type of weapon they could answer if almost all the troops were in Europe except those that had not yet been used due to diplomatic treaties made by his predecessors in the Tibet Accords in 2008, but this situation was totally different from what it said in the treaty.
In essence, he was still debating whether it was necessary to fight fire with fire with the use of atomic weapons on that creature. I did not know what kind of effects those weapons could have so devastating on the creature since it fed and grew from them. The truth is that he did not know if that will destroy him or make him bigger and more dangerous than hit already is now, something that he did not want to risk. In addition to the biggest obstacle that, fortunately, prevented the dropping of nuclear weapons was the fact that Godzilla was still in a densely populated area. Any such attack on urban areas would be considered as some kind of attack on the imperial population and would further affect the reputation of the army, and that was something that the Chancellor himself could not allow. He was head of the government after all, only below the emperor as head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, whose duty it was to protect the imperial citizenship and also the interests and the prevalence of the empire itself.
"I totally agree with you, Senator Jones, but the situation is quite complicated considering that Godzilla is still in urban areas." Schneizel responded casually after intense debate.
"And that is why we must act immediately!" Exclaimed another senator with resolution. "His Imperial Majesty expects you to respond to this as the army in Area 11 has been unable to do anything about it. I choose to launch a nuclear strike on it."
His statement was not well received by other members.
"You've gone mad!?" Shouted another senator aside. "We can't risk dropping such weapons on that thing!"
"It's true, I understand that thing lives off radioactivity." A female senator added. "We don't know if that will be able to kill it."
"Not to mention how many lives of Britannians citizens will be affected by this." Said another disapprovingly.
Then what was once a formal meeting had now barely turned into an argument as 2 factions debated undecided yelling and protesting about how to attack Godzilla at once. Although he never showed it, in the midst of this scandal, Schneizel viewed this as a total waste of time as senators continued to debate how to effectively end Godzilla. They were deciding for nothing more than benefit rather than the safety of civilians, and if this continues without reaching a mutual agreement to fix the problem, it may already be too late to respond immediately.
It was with this resolution that the blond prince made his presence known to the Senate, rising from his seat raised his voice for all to hear.
"Gentlemen, please calm down!" Schneizel's voice spread through the room like the echo being heard by some senators who turned to look at him. Soon the rest did the same to finally know the chancellor's response. Once the entire room was calm as before, Schneizel took a moment to breathe before continuing.
"I know we are facing a situation never faced before, but that should not persuade us how to solve it." Schneizel spoke convincingly as the senators listened in silence. "I am in favor of refraining from the use of weapons, whether atomic or sakuradita, as that could tarnish our image in front of the emperor and our people who trust us to do something."
Once again, he took a breath to continue.
"While we can no longer do anything to stop Godzilla since he is now in urban areas and a few kilometers from reaching Tokyo, therefore I have made the decision to send a squadron of hunting B-2 Spirit type bombers to bomb the monster with anti-bunker bombs."
Senators began to take note of the prince's alleged strategy of attacking the creature with such penetration weapons down to a depth of 200 feet, and none seemed anything to object to. Except for a few.
"Are you really sure that could work despite the fact that the other weapons could not damaged it?" Asked one with doubts.
Schneizel gave the senator who asked that question a hard look but answered anyway.
"I know this is difficult to predict, but it is our best bet." He raised and extended his arms almost dramatically to the senators and prepared to say the following. "Senators. With permission from you and His Imperial Majesty, I request the dispatch of the Black Vulture Squad to Area 11."
Tokyo Settlement - Area 11 - Holy Britannian Empire
"Right now, the monster Godzilla is approaching the Meguro Ghetto and will most likely break down its walls." A reporter reported while filming the scene flying over the aforementioned ghetto from the air. "Many of its Elevens residents are beginning to evacuate knowing what is coming."
Shinjuku Ghetto
The members of Naoto's resistance were anxiously watching the news as the radioactive monster approached one of the ghettos that were close to where they are now, some testing that the monster will not attack the innocent Japanese.
Meguro Ghetto
Panic had gripped the streets of the ghetto-turned city when its inhabitants received the news that the monster that was supposed to be for several superstitious had come to bring misfortune to their tyrannical occupants was approaching their location to bring them the same misfortune, so they decided not to waste time leaving their homes and leaving their belongings behind to save their lives.
They could almost feel the ground rumble a bit causing the Elevens to turn their heads back and see a huge oval head as dark as coal peek out from between the walls and continue to approach steadily. People left behind ran in more panic now that their impending death loomed ahead of them. Each part scattered on each side where they could run to get out of the monster's path while others continued forward. It was then that a thunderous sound was heard throughout the place and people instantly turned back to see how the wall was demolished inwards as if it had been hit by a strong ram from outside, but it didn't take long to confirm that it was done by the monster's moving feet tearing down the structure and allowing it to enter the ghetto.
The people who were still running let out a loud collective scream of terror when they saw that the destroyer was here, but that did not end when the rocks and fragments of the walls flew into the air due to the kicks of Godzilla and much of it was heading towards the people still fleeing.
Among them were 2 kids running together hand in hand and presumably siblings due to the age difference at first glance. They were both running alone without their parents due to being separated during the panic. A few hours ago, both brothers had dedicated themselves to stealing money from several Meguro merchants so that their family could continue to live a little better in poverty. This was very common in the society of the natives conquered by the Britannians dominating them as Numbers, and each one had to make ends meet in order to survive in their marginalized and miserable lives, and the theft of wallets was their thing.
It was only when the appearance of the same monster that had attacked their ancient city before, the one recently baptized as Gojira, was announced and as it had managed to resist the attack of the powerful Britannian army and continue forward until it had begun to approach right here, that caused the children to quit their jobs and flee with everything they could to get to safety.
Unfortunately, they both did not get very far when the monster tore down the wall and the fragments scattered in the air rushed towards them. The bombardment reached them when one of the debris hit the youngest's head and another on the older's leg causing the latter to fall to the ground along with his brother.
The older boy screamed in pain and agony as he felt how the fragment had crushed his right leg next to his bones, being completely unable to get up and flee. Between the agony the boy still held the hand of his brother and then looked to the left to see how the latter was, but wen he did it, his face contored in pure horror at the state of his brother.
The other boy's head had a huge gap that exposed much of his brain and the rest was spilled on the ground. He had died in a hideous way.
The shaking on the ground had started to get louder as the monster was getting closer and closer as it crushed several houses in its path and was closer to the defenseless children. The boy who survived wanted to keep running for his life. He didn't want to end up like his little brother and die crushed by a huge foot. He did not want to turn into a pulp in the middle of the ground, but the fragment still crushing his shattered leg and the intense pain as it moved prevented any possibility of escape. He was doomed.
Knowing that he could not escape, all the poor boy could do is cry out between sobs as he felt his impending death closer than ever. Not another moment passed when the huge foot of the super radioactive monster rose above them and immediately lowered it. The last thing the boy saw as he looked with teary and agonizing eyes was how the huge, charred foot pounced on them without pause and then nothing...
Outside, the foot hit the ground causing a small tremor and the next instant it lifted it, revealing a huge footprint with four points and in the middle a couple of red pulps stained on the ground.
The massacre did not end there when part of the ghetto inhabitants who were in the path of Godzilla desperately tried to get out through a large gate in the wall that was closed with no possibility of opening it. More than 15 people had been crammed into their only remaining exit, desperately trying to escape by any means possible such as banging on the door in the hope that someone on the other side would hear them. However, that hope would be dashed when Godzilla's footsteps felt stronger and closer, and several houses were torn down and crushed in its walk.
It no longer made sense. Their imminent death was only a few meters from them and there was no longer any way to escape from it. Some tried to escape through the narrow streets, others kept trying to knock on the door in the hope that someone would open them, and others ended up resigning themselves to their imminent fate and began to pray waiting for the end.
There was no pause as the huge mutant leviathan's foot tore down the walls alongside those too close to escape. Taking a few more steps, Godzilla had completely exited the Meguro Ghetto, leaving behind a linear trail of destruction where it had passed before.
The news helicopter recorded the tragedy that happened.
Shinjuku Ghetto
"This is horrible! In just one minute, Godzilla leveled much of the ghetto and as you have surely seen, it crushed several Elevens who tried to escape from it." Announced the reporter.
The members of the Naoto Resistance saw this with a mixture of horror and shock at the disaster, and Naoto thought this would serve as a lesson for the rest of the Japanese who still thought that Gojira was only coming to harm the Britannians, and he hoped that they had also seen how that monster crushed those poor and defenseless inhabitants of Meguro to get rid of the idea further. One of their own was quick to let one of the credulous ones know.
"Well? Do you still think that beast is on our side?" Yoshitaka snapped at Tamaki. The latter winced a bit in embarrassment as if he had lost on a bet.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He responded by feigning ignorance that he had once praised Gojira as their savior. Fortunately for him, no one joined Yoshitaka in making matters worse for the most curmudgeonly and buffoon member of the group as they were in more trouble right away.
"What do we do now?" Naomi asked concerned about the situation.
"Yeah. That thing could get close to Shinjuku, and it could happen to us the same as Meguro." Kento added also concerned.
The entire group fell into an intense silence as they reflected that he was right in that it was likely that Shinjuku could be its next target and they could end up just like those poor unfortunates. A fear that was not ignored by Naoto himself when he saw his sister frightened by this possibility.
He knew they shouldn't stay here any longer.
"We have to go now." He finally said so that the whole world would hear him. "We can't stay here any longer while that thing could approach us. We have to escape."
Some looked at their leader in surprise at his decision to escape from Shinjuku.
"Where do you want us to go?" It was Tamaki who asked doubtfully. Naoto looked at him with conviction.
"Anywhere away from that thing. Let's go!"
Ashford Academy
"An hour ago, the government of the Homeland sent a squadron of Spirit-type fighter bombers to try to bombard the creature with powerful anti-bunker bombs capable of penetrating up to 200 feet, " Report a female reporter. " It is unknown in what type of urban location they are going to launch the operation, but if there are still people there, we ask that they leave their homes as soon as possible. "
A number of students, including Milly, Rivalz, Shirley, and Nina, took turns watching the news broadcast on a plasma TV. Most looked restless as they saw the super radioactive dinosaur getting closer and closer to the center of Tokyo through the Akasaka Ghetto and to know what else.
Milly tried to remain calm at all times despite the outside situation and wait for what decision her grandfather and the rest of the academy teachers would make. Rivalz also tried to keep his nerves under control, but it was a bit difficult for him at the moment.
Shirley and Nina also couldn't help but be terrified by what was happening outside. They didn't even want to think about how many people were harmed by the monster's presence and what they would do when it came. Shirley got a call from her parents assuring her that they are out of Tokyo, but she hadn't heard from a certain bright purple-eyed teenager yet, so she couldn't help but be so worried about him.
Then they heard the classroom doors open, and everyone immediately turned to see Ruben K. Ashford, academy director, and Milly's grandfather, along with other teachers enter.
"Attention everyone, I have just been informed that three buses are coming to take us out of Tokyo very soon." Ruben reported as he approached his granddaughter.
"Really?" Milly asked.
"Yes, we have been ordered to evacuate the entire building."
One of the teachers walked over to the students. "You heard it! Meet with the others on campus in five minutes. Quick!"
Without waiting for further instructions, the students immediately got up and left the classroom to get their respective belongings as quickly as possible and gather on campus as ordered. But Shirley was the only one who hesitated at that since something was still missing.
"But Lulu's not back!" She exclaimed worriedly. All eyes turned to her. "Have any of you seen him or contacted him?"
"I do." Rivalz replied. "The last time I called him was after the failure of the operation, and he says he was yet to leave Minato."
Everyone froze upon hearing that. Minato was the route Godzilla was going to go right now, and then it would be the academy.
"Is he still in Minato!?" Shirley yelled on the brink of hysteria. "What happened?"
"I-I don't know, there's a lot of traffic out there." Rivalz stammered at the girl's tone. Neither of them said anything as they thought what kind of mess the young purple eyes were out there with that thing coming towards them. Shirley, Rivalz, and Nina couldn't help but be genuinely concerned for his well-being and wondered what they were going to tell his sister about this.
A couple of spotlights reflected from the classroom window brightened the interior a bit, and residents peeked out to see that it was the buses who had come to collect them.
"Just in time." Ruben said relieved to see the buses before turning to the remaining students. "Don't waste your time, go outside immediately."
"B-but..." Shirley tried to protest when Milly put her hands on the other girl's shoulder in a reassuring gesture.
"Shirley, I know you're worried about Lelouch, and so are we." Milly spoke in a harsh but reassuring tone as well. "But you know well that we can't stay here much longer, do you understand?"
This didn't seem to convince the young Fenette too much about the fact that they have to evacuate the city without Lelouch still out there alone.
"Do not worry." Milly continued now with a consoling smile. "I'm sure our dear Lulu managed to get out of this, and he may be with the military right now or something."
Deep down Shirley wanted to at least trust that Lulu would be safe being evacuated by the military like her parents, also knowing him better, she did not believe that he would be in more serious trouble.
Seeing that he had already calmed down, Milly regained her composure and said the following.
"Come on, let's all go now."
And with that statement, the rest did as they were asked and left the classroom to evacuate, but among them, there was one who could not be internally worried about a certain boy.
Minato District
With relentless steps, the super radioactive leviathan reached the Minato District, near the Tokyo Tower turned museum at the end of the war. With the lowering of the sun and the arrival of dark night, it could be seen that all its dorsal plates and exposed muscle tissues due to the scars and open wounds had begun to glow in a an sinister crimson fluorescent glow, thus giving it a more demonic appearance of the one it had before as if it had recently emerged from hell.
With every step it took, there were numerous blackouts around it as if one of those little buildings it was tearing down was an electrical company. The great beast continued its march without stopping and will stop at nothing.
The streets of central Minato were a veritable hive of people moving carelessly in panic. It had already gotten dark when the streets had been illuminated by the headlights of cars and other transport vehicles forming a large queue getting stuck in an attempt to escape out of range of the path where Godzilla was coming into the city.
The alarming sounds of the horns of both cars and trucks flooded everything together with the collective scream of their respective enraged drivers as they struggled to get out of this infernal traffic jam that made it more difficult to evacuate people. Others got out of their vehicles and decided to walk on the sidewalks where there was also another group of people who chose to flee on foot instead of vehicles. Most had decided to take refuge in one of the underground train stations like Sengakuji Station and try to flee on one of the trains to a distant place to get to safety.
The entire police force, including the military, made great efforts to remove as many people as possible, while others took advantage of the situation to pillage the surroundings.
In the midst of this, Naoto's team, out of Shinjuku, walked through the crowd along one of the sidewalks, trying not to part and be able to continue to get out of here, but not many saws this as a good idea.
"We should have stayed at the base." Tamaki complained in the middle of the crowd moving forward. "This place sucks."
"It would be much better with that thing spitting radiation in Shinjuku, don't you think?" Minami chided not in a good mood for the alarming situation.
"Well, it would be much better than being here with those Britannians pigs making such a fuss." Tamaki countered almost sarcastically.
"Do you want to quit already?" Naomi asked a little exasperated as she tried to keep up with her companions. "You will have time for discussions."
"Yeah, the important thing is to get out of here as soon as possible." Kento said next to Naomi as he ran.
"Hai, hai." Tamaki said with a sulky tone of defeat, and so ended the discussion, much to the relief of the others.
None of them had thought before leaving what they would do to get out of here since with all the chaos around them, their options were very limited. They could join the crowd by fleeing the city, but all the traffic obstructed their escape, or they could take refuge inside the subways, which would be a viable option, and it could work.
However, Ohgi still had some doubts that they could reach one of those trains considering the horde of people around them that slowed their march towards there, also if the security agents would allow them to enter taking into account their status as Numbers. Still, he still had some confidence that despite everything, they would still be able to escape this hell that was to come when Godzilla comes to town.
"Ohgi, have you seen Kallen?" Naoto asked looking at his partner. Ohgi paused for a moment to analyze what his childhood friend had just said.
"Kallen? Wasn't he with you all this time?" Ohgi asked confused a little afraid that the red-haired girl was not with them.
"Until a moment ago she was by my side, but now..." Naoto looked around to confirm if he had lost sight of his sister, and to his greatest fear, it passed.
'Crap, crap, crap! Why has this happened to me?' That was what she was wondering in exasperation in her mind as she ran through this forest of people around her to try to catch up with her comrades. For a moment in the midst of the chaos, Kallen had been pushed by another group running in the opposite direction and had staggered to the ground as a result. When she regained her composure, she realized that her group had drifted far away without realizing that she was left behind. Cursing her bad luck, she tried to follow them going in the same direction they were going through human bodies ahead in the hope of finding them.
It was clear that she was a bit difficult for her to orient himself with so many moving bodies almost everywhere. She tried to spot and recognize any familiar non-Britannian face in sight, but it was very difficult for her that way. Kallen growled again, if she didn't do anything soon to find them, she wouldn't want to know that more bad things could happen to her from now on.
"Kallen!"
She was shaken a bit when she heard a familiar voice that she recognized very well at once. She looked up a bit from the crowd to see a pair of hands rising above their heads, and she knew where they were coming from.
"Onīchan!" Kallen shouted relieved to finally see her brother and his companions calling her from afar and immediately she started to join them while still seeing the raised hands.
It was then that her body collided with another, and again she fell to the ground on her rear.
"Sorry, are you alright?" the person who collided with Kallen asked worriedly. The redhead was still a bit stunned and at the same time almost angry at being thrown to the ground again, but she quickly recovered and looked at the person she had collided with being a boy her age with dark black hair and striking eyes purple holding out his hand.
"You can get up?"
Normally Kallen would have accepted his help if he was her brother or one of her friends but considering that the person in front of her was one of her Britannians occupants, without hesitation, she refused his help. Besides, she was not such a delicate girl to receive help like this.
"No thanks, I'm fine." Kallen said as he got up and stood in front of the Britannian teenager's eyes. For a moment neither of them said anything as the boy had started to look carefully at the girl's face.
"Something wrong?" Kallen asked a little uncomfortable seeing how he looked at her. Although deep down he knew that for sure he was trying to identify her oriental features.
"No, not nothing. By the way, where were you going?" The boy asked curiously.
"One of the underground Stations." Kallen replied as he turned his back on the boy and hurried towards their group. "You should go too!"
Lelouch could only watch as the girl who was so familiar caught up with their group and they continued with their planned escape.
Viceroy's Office - Government Building
Prince Clovis was fuming at his personal desk over the latest events that had occurred that could lead to his downfall.
He still couldn't believe that the entire army couldn't do something to kill that monster at once and that it all ended in a humiliating failure that caused people to lose trust in him and lose his reputation as an effective Viceroy in front of his father and the rest of the Imperial Court. If this continued, more riots would break out across Area 11 if he did nothing to appease the nuclear threat, as well as rebellions by Elevens that would take advantage of the government imbalance and make things much worse.
He could almost imagine again being in front of the emperor in the throne room with the rest of the Court and the first was giving him a severe face of total disappointment at his son's incompetence for having failed him and it was likely that he would also disinherit him and his family like it did 7 years ago with the Vi Britannia before they exiled them here, and that was something I didn't want to happen.
Clovis had tried together with his officials a new strategy to stop Godzilla, but it was useless if conventional weapons were of no use against that thing. It was then that he received a statement from the Homeland that Schneizel would send a squadron of last generation fighter-bombers to make an attempt to kill him with powerful penetration bombs, and that could definitively end him. Clovis was confident that this could work, and even if they did, he still had several problems such as solving how to calm the population that the nuclear threat had finally disappeared and put down several pro-Britannians rebellions so that everything would return to normal. Still, he did not believe that he would rid himself of the emperor's wrath and it was likely that he would be disowned from the position of Viceroy and replaced by someone more competent.
His luck was cast.
"Your Highness." Clovis raised his head when he saw 2 of the military advisers approaching him and he waited patiently to know what they wanted. "We have been informed that the path Godzilla is headed is exactly where we are now."
The third prince's face tightened upon hearing that. It was enough for the monster to sweep through half the city with its footsteps and right now it was heading towards the power symbol of the domain of Area 11 and that could provoke percussions later on.
"And what do you expect to try to stop him?" Clovis chided his officers.
"We cannot." One of the advisers replied with concern. "We have thrown everything we had at him, and it has done nothing to dissuade him from changing direction. He has to evacuate now."
"Your personal helicopter will be coming soon and will take us to Tachikawa." He advised another in the hope of convincing the prince to leave at once to save his life.
Still, Clovis didn't like the idea of leaving his office and running away leaving a lot of people stuck there in the city, and he didn't want to look bad in front of the Imperial citizenry as a coward and that would worsen his reputation. He thought there was still some hope to avoid disgrace by waiting for the reinforcements sent by his older stepbrother, but he still didn't know when they were coming before Godzilla touched down on his building.
"When will the fighter-bombers come?" Clovis asked with impatience and indignation in his voice. The advisers tensed a bit.
"According to our estimates, we believe that within half an hour." One of the advisers responded, wondering if he should respond like this taking into account the situation. "Either way, Godzilla will be almost close to the area, so it is wise to leave here immediately."
The prince could only growl in anger at being forced to leave his position and did not even want to know what more misfortune could happen to him.
Akasaka District
'Damn you, Lelouch. Why did I have to do this?' This was what Rivalz kept thinking as his eyes were focused on what was in front of him as the crowd of people who parted when they noticed the spotlight of the boy's motorcycle coming towards them.
A couple of minutes ago, while he was gathering his things, Rivalz had the idea of calling Lelouch to let him know that they were evacuating and ask him if he was being evacuated by the military. Unfortunately, Lelouch had replied on the other line that he was still running on foot among the fleeing people and that he did not know if he would arrive in time. Desperate, Rivalz worried too much and did not want to know what reaction Shirley and Nunnally would make when they found out that Lulu was still lost among the people.
It was then that he casually noticed his motorcycle and did not think twice about going on it to look for his friend without even telling his friends that he would come to his aid. At first, the young blue haired boy had not regretted his decision even when he strayed too far from the academy since he had planned to find his friend by tracking him with the GPS of his mobile that was connected to Lelouch's, however, when he arrived at the area where he was standing, it became apparent that this was more difficult than he had imagined when he saw an enormous amount of people barely hindering his search. Even the thunderous sound of unison horns didn't help much.
He had definitely regretted his decision already.
'Why did I have to offer to look for that idiot when I should have stayed with Milly on the bus? She will surely kill me as soon as he returns.'
Leaving his thoughts already, Rivalz had to focus on the mass of people fleeing in whatever direction he went. He also saw how people got out of their own cars when they saw that the traffic was irreparable, so one would think that the streets were safe so that Rivalz could circulate without being run over, but still he did not risk, since those abandoned vehicles represented an obstacle.
Rivalz stopped his motorcycle in an area where there were fewer people, and then he took out his mobile to see the virtual 'map' still with the GPS and saw that his friend's signal was not that far anymore, and he was somewhere nearby of its location much to Rivalz's relief.
However, the only problem was that there were still too many people running and cars in the middle of the road, and that together with the darkness of the night, made his vision quite difficult, so finding him had become much more difficult than he had expected he imagine. And even the streetlights weren't helping much.
In the end, all the young bluehead could think of was to call out in the hope that he would hear it.
"Hey, Lelouch! Can you hear me?" He yelled at the crowd on the street. "Lelouch!"
Passing through 2 people, Lelouch tried to intensify his vision through this vast forest of people on the move to find a site with fewer people. He knew that Rivalz had come looking for him on his motorcycle, to his surprise that he had decided to risk looking for him even though it was likely that he would never get it in time.
He put those thoughts aside as he concentrated on finding his friend's motorcycle that he could recognize very well.
"Hey, Lelouch!"
There was no need to do so, as in the midst of all this commotion I hear a vaguely familiar voice. The young former prince tried to concentrate and instinctively tilted his head to where he had thought he heard that voice. It was thus that he was finally able to make out the shape of his companion still on his motorcycle on one of the sidewalks. Lelouch smiled inwardly.
He tried to break through the human barrier that was still running through the road line, which was a bit difficult due to not having a good physique to withstand such blocks, but he didn't give up either.
Without noticing it, in the midst of the masses, a single hooded figure who seemed to walk calmly as if he had nothing in mind of the approaching danger, carefully observed Lelouch and without thinking began to follow him.
Finally, the former prince broke through the human barrier and met Rivalz at the sidewalk.
"Good thing I could find you, buddy." Rivalz said happily. "I thought I would never find you again."
"Sorry about that, but you still surprise me that you came looking for me." Lelouch respond as he climbed into the passenger seat.
"What are friends for." Rivalz replied as if he had received a compliment. Still, Lelouch did not approve of the action his partner did without thinking about the consequences even though he did it for him. He knew that he would not be the only one facing the wrath of Milly and Shirley, Rivalz would receive it too.
"Where did you say the buses were going anyway?"
"To Tachikawa." Rivalz replied as he prepared to start his motorcycle as soon as he saw there was room on his route.
"Do you think you can get there sooner?" Lelouch asked suddenly. Rivalz turned to the copilot.
"What do you mean?" Rivalz asked without understanding.
"A moment ago, I received on social networks that the bombers sent from the Homeland will arrive here shortly and start attacking Godzilla." Lelouch explained as if it were a warning.
"And what's wrong?" he asked again without understanding the situation. Lelouch didn't bother to sigh when he replied bluntly.
"There is still a danger that he would release radioactivity if they made a huge breach in his body, and that would be a serious danger for those around him, do you understand?"
"Yes, but I don't think it's close now."
*STOMP!*
It was then, as if his words were misheard, suddenly everyone heard a strange and strong stomp which swept through the streets followed by a small tremor that slightly shook the ground and the vehicles stranded there.
*STOMP!*
Everyone had completely frozen as that sound was repeated over and over again by the surroundings and each time it felt closer. People started to get wondering what it was all about, but there was no need to wait to find out when everyone turned their heads to the right to see by their greatest horror the origin of the piston-like sounds.
There, several meters past where they were, between the buildings, they saw a huge dark head go by, peering out in middle of the twilight sky. If not for its neck that glowed a strange red in the dark, its head would have been almost invisible in the darkness of night, but that also gave it an intimidating aspect that was reminiscent of the very image of the devil.
People were totally dumbfounded staring helplessly at the terrifying image peeked behind the buildings although luckily it did not seem to be paying attention as it continued on its way forward, but that did not prevent people from worrying about their own safety. True, most people saw it almost entirely on television, but not in front of their eyes for just several feet, and it went without saying that it was a spooky sight.
Among them, the same hooded image that followed Lelouch was also looking at him, but not with fear and dread, but with silent curiosity and admiration in its golden eyes.
Lelouch also looked at the creature almost with admiration.
"So that is Godzilla…"
"My God, I had never thought to see it with my own eyes." Rivalz exclaimed also dumbfounded.
A moment later, the image of the head faded from among the tallest buildings and was easily out of sight. Once it left, some were undecided what to do since the monster was going in the same direction they were going.
Lelouch was also thinking about it carefully since he knew that the fighter-bombers would soon arrive to bomb Godzilla at once, even with the fear of releasing radioactive materials that would spread through the city. He really didn't want to take that risk, so they only had one option left.
"What's that over there?" Asked a man pulling Lelouch out of his train of thought as he saw how the man who had asked pointed to something in the night sky. Lelouch looked up to see what he had seen and could barely see in the dark except for a couple of flashes that flew over the city and seemed to be approaching Godzilla's location.
Suddenly his eyes widened in horror when he found out what it was all about.
'The fighter-bombers!'
"Let's get out of here, Rivalz!" Lelouch warned as he got out of the passenger seat. "The attack is about to start, and Godzilla is too close to us."
"B-but, where are we supposed to go?" Rivalz stammered following him.
"We are almost close to one of the underground station, we can go-
He couldn't finish the sentence when he suddenly collided with someone causing him to stop in his tracks in front of the hooded figure.
"Oh sorry, I..."
The young boy couldn't say anything else as his eyes were more focused on the person's undoubtedly feminine face and sported striking golden eyes. She just silently looked at him carefully.
It was thus that in the middle of the night, the tranquility was abruptly interrupted when 2 heavy anti-bunker bombs MOP II (Massive Ordenance Penetrator) fell in unison until they hit Godzilla's back and neck respectively.
*BOOOOOMM* *BOOOOOMM*
The explosions was so big that compared to the missiles that hit it previously they were only firecrackers. They were also so powerful that they made the super mutant shake up enormously and it stopped in its tracks when it felt like its body was pierced by the explosions.
Godzilla had finally been hurt!
Government Building roof
"Your Highness, MOP II bombs struck the target." A military analyst warned. "It's confirmed bleeding!"
Finally, the prince, as well as several officials who accompanied him, allowed themselves to smile relieved and victorious when they saw that they were finally able to hurt the monster once and for all.
However... few knew of the 'true' hell that was going to break loose today.
"SSSKKREEEEEEEEOOOOOOOONNNNKKKK!"
They all stopped in their tracks when they heard the supermuted creature let out a loud roar of pain and anger towards the sky that seemed more like a distorted screech that spread through the surroundings. When it finished roaring, it lowered its head to the ground and bowed its body as well. Then, its dorsal plates that previously glowed with a faint crimson glow, turned purple colour that glowed with more intensity, followed by its numerous scars. The glow it emitted was so intense that it lit up the darkness of the night around it. Everyone who was able to witness this strange phenomenon was stunned by the eerie spectacle.
Even from a distance, at the entrance to one of the underground stations, Lelouch could observe how the purple glow emerged from one of the buildings, where Godzilla was supposed to be.
"What's that glow?"
At a slow pace, Godzilla opened its toothed maw to an incredible depth like a snake, which shone with a violet luminescence, and the lower jaw parted by 2 parts.
Government building roof
An EC-225 helicopter had already landed on the roof of the building to pick up Clovis and his officials to take them to Tachikagua. As they continued to board the helicopter, Clovis and others observed the strange phenomenon that was happening where Godzilla was now, and the prince wanted answers immediately.
"Godzilla's back seems to be glowing!" The military analyst warned after being briefed on what was happening with Godzilla. "We have no more details!"
The prince just stare dumbfounded at the intense and sinister purple glow as a sign of bad omen.
"What are it going to do now?"
He no longer had to wait when Godzilla vomited a great endless blast of jet-black smoke from between its open jaws accompanied by a loud avalanche-like sound, and fell like a waterfall to the ground. Upon touching the ground, the black smoke began to spread like a river of darkness and began to engulf the streets below and all the abandoned cars and vehicles.
The creature's eyes were suddenly covered by a membrane then there was a flash, and the gas wave suddenly ignited in a powerful blast of fire spit forth. All the gas clouds ignited, originating colossal fires that consumed several buildings ahead and spread like a violent firestorm for several kilometers, swallowing up more entire roads, and above all, people who were still fleeing, whether civilians or military.
In less than 30 seconds, Godzilla's flamethrower began to condense and transformed into a bright purple concentrated thin ray similar a laser beam accompanied by a high-pitched screeching in the air. The beam ripped through the road to several kilometers ahead as it raised its head skyward. The beam managed to spread several kilometers across the sky, being seen even at a far distance from the air. The beam managed to hit one of the B-2 fighter-bombers, destroying it in the process.
From a distance on the ground, Lelouch still at the entrance of an underground station, he saw the violet beam rising into the sky and he wondered what it was.
"What are you doing, buddy." Rivalz warned as he threw Lelouch inside down the stairs. "Come on!"
"The target is shooting some unidentified weapon from the front." Reported one of the remaining fighter-bomber pilots still hovering over Godzilla. "Bomber 2 and Bomber 3 will circle in from behind. Payback time."
"Roger. Payback." The other pilot answered in response.
The B-2s dropped another 3 bombs on the super mutated Saurian, but what they didn't know was that Godzilla was waiting for them.
Godzilla dispelled its beam and brought its jaws together again and then it felt that other bombs were falling on it.
Suddenly without warning the super mutated leviathan unleashed 15 to 18 numerous thin purple beams from its dorsal plates into the sky. The laser beams intercepted and destroyed the bombs that were approaching it from above and finally reached the rest of the bombers. The sky lit up with several flashes by the bomber explosions.
Yokota Air Base
"What!? The entire air squad was destroyed!?" One of the officers yelled in disbelief. "There's no way! That's impossible!"
Underground Station
Those who took refuge in the underground tunnels, including Lelouch and Rivalz, noticed the tremors coming from the surface, and had begun to fear for their safety. Instead, the green haired girl did not seem at all upset by the situation and could only mutter a few words like a prayer.
"The incarnation of a god. Godzilla."
Tokyo
Godzilla reopened its jaws, spitting out its purple beam like a spitting cobra, demolishing a building in front of it and then extending it an incredible distance, slicing through several more buildings in the process. Meanwhile, Clovis and several officials had boarded the helicopter that was going to take them, but when it was about to fly away, it was suddenly hit by the laser beam, destroying it completely. The beam also penetrated and went through the building 2 times causing everything to collapse and fall demolished to the ground.
Godzilla continued with its frenzy of uncontrolled attack through the rest of the city until it returned to spit more flames from its mouth causing more destruction to the Britannian settlement. In less than 5 minutes, much of Minato Ward and a little further around had turned into an apocalyptic flame hell with a number of buildings engulfed in flames, others whose structures were demolished and charred. Roads and neighborhoods were smashed and incinerated full of radioactive debris. All metal objects, being vehicles, tanks, Knightmares, etc., were melted by the intense scorching heat, and the people who were left behind were also totally incinerated.
The settlement was left in a rather apocalyptic image that not even the Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Great Fire of Rome or the destruction of Pompeii could match. And in the midst of the chaos, the architect of all this destruction (it had already stopped spitting radiation and had reattached its jaws as before) stood silently observing its handiwork while still swinging its tail as usual.
However, despite having caused an enormous amount of unprecedented destruction, it came at a price and that was that he had sacrificed most of its power to unleash it. It was like this that the super mutant felt how its forces left it, its body stopped glowing with that intense purple light and returned to the faint crimson of before.
Instinctively, Godzilla took a few more steps forward until it came to a complete stop and lowered its head slightly. Its eyes were covered by a strange membrane. After that, Godzilla's body no longer moved, entering a dormancy state, becoming standing completely immobile, like a huge statue of flesh in the middle of a destroyed and burning city.
Several hours later
From the air you could see the center of the Tokyo Settlement wrapped in a trail of circular flames and around it an extensive radioactive cloud that threatened to spread throughout the rest of the city.
"High levels of radiation have been projected." Reported a reporter. "For their safety people are urged to remain indoors for at least another 49 hours."
"How much radiation the creature has released on Tokyo is still unknown." Informed another. "Due to the attack, expect emergency services to be severely delayed."
"Nuclear, biological, and chemical response teams are being deployed throughout the city for decontamination and rescue."
The entire center of the city has been completely destroyed by flames that are believed to radiate an enormous amount of very dangerous pure radiation. It is not known the number of victims, but it is thought to be huge, and among them are Prince Clovis and ten government officials, who tried to escape in a helicopter but were unfortunately hit by purple lightning.
The radioactive cloud reached a distance of 2 kilometers and reached the Shinjuku and Saitama ghettos, but thanks to the change in wind direction, it is believed that the cloud will dissipate towards the coast, away from the city.
Yet that does not leave the fact that many people have died in this unprecedented tragedy in history. The world is completely shocked by what happened here and a wave of panic is detected in the cities near Tokyo for fear of being exposed to radioactivity. Luckily many people who had been evacuated by the military managed to escape just in time before hell broke out and were being transported to Tachikawa. By some miracle, the people who had taken refuge in the underground subways also managed to survive the disaster and among them were Lelouch and Rivalz.
Meanwhile, the remaining government, with the support of the Homeland, is trying to make sure that the population does not panic and is also looking for a solution to the problem of the surviving refugees, as well as dealing with Godzilla that has now been labeled as a serious nuclear threat to the world.
The next day
One of the military trucks arrived at one of the refugee camps in Tachikawa, being a large square surrounded by walls where there were many people gathered being treated. Many of whom were Britannians and other Elevens alike and there seemed to be no racial difference about it.
The truck stopped at the entrance to the post guarded by the military and the cargo was opened where a variety of people got out, including Lelouch and Rivalz. None of them said anything when they were rescued by the military and on the way here, they looked forward to reaching this safe place. They almost sighed in relief. However, what Lelouch really wanted was to see his sister and the rest of his companions who evacuated to this place much earlier.
During the time when they had spent isolated underground with many terrified people losing hope that they would never see the sunlight again, he never stopped thinking about her and he was one of the few who had not lost hope of returning to see her as soon as everything was over. Now he had a chance to do it.
Both teenagers went inside and immediately understood that even after escaping from that hell alive, it did not mean that they did so without consequences. They could hear the cries of women, men, children, etc, whether in pain, mourning or whatever had affected them. Not many people made it out, whether they were friends, relatives or relatives of the survivors, and the latter lost their homes. Some also brought radiation burns to their bodies and were also at risk of cancer, so they were isolated from the rest.
Inside the base there were several food stalls where there was a large queue and the manager gave them what he had in turn, and in the center, there were about 10 medical stores where doctors treated the injured and those affected by radiation, which was a pretty horrible image.
Lelouch ignored the sad scene and tried to search among the refugees for any face known as his sister.
"Lulu!"
His hopes grew when he heard the voice that he knew quite well when his body was caught in a tight hug from a totally hysterical Shirley and happy to see one of her companions again. Lelouch was quite surprised to see how the girl buried her face while crying on Lelouch's chest. He instinctively raised his head to see Milly and Sayoko carrying Nunnally's wheelchair a few feet away. His eyes focused on the last one and he almost came to tears when he saw that she was safe and sound. She also looked like she was going to cry knowing that her brother was here and reached out her arms towards him in an attempt to hug him. Naturally, Lelouch carefully moved away from Shirley and walked vaguely towards her accepting her wish and thus both brothers hugged each other when they saw that they had managed to see each other.
Rivalz also joined the drama and went over to hug Milly, who is willingly accepted, and so they hugged as well.
Despite all the chaos and destruction along with the deaths of thousands of lives that occurred on that fateful night, Lelouch was able to find what was left of his family, and that was enough, but now his future was uncertain.
That is all for today. Shin Gojira finally proved who the true incarnate god was and that Britannia was not as strong as they thought. At first I thought to label this chapter as 'Who will know?' the soundtrack of the movie when Shin fired its atomic beam, but I settled on As long as breath comes from my mouth, a part of the song, referencing its atomic beam.
Oh, if any of you have noticed the scene where Godzilla was crossing the Meguro Ghetto, then you will have realized that I was inspired by Attack on Titan chapter 131 when Eren begins with the Rumbling in Marley. A small tribute to the manga already finished. I hope to see it in the animated version in 2022.
Ja ne!
