Harry and his entourage of debtors piled out of the compartment, walking orderly down the train aisle and outside the train.
There, awaiting them, is Hagrid. "Can all yer fir yeers, follow mae ter the boats."
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville quickly ordered their way around to follow him, walking through the thick crown of older years and the trees lining the path.
The first years soon arrived to a large lake, with a small dock in front of them, and many small boats. "On ter the boats" shouted Hagrid "find a pertner."
Harry and Ron went into the third available boat, and sat there waiting. Soon, when all the first years made their way to the boats, the boats moved off deep into the lake by themselves.
Passing by the middle of the lake, Neville shouts out "I see tentacles in the water", before panicking and falling over into the lake. Hagric hurriedly paddled his way to Neville and scooped him out, with the assistance of the tentacles.
"Thats juist the friendly squid".
Soon enough, they made it to the other side of the lake, where a tall bastion stood; Hogwarts.
Arriving at a cave on the bottom with a small harbor, the boats docked and the first yeas emptied out. Hagric escorted the first years up a path into the cave wall, until they walked up to the entrance of Hogwarts, where Hagrid banged on the door, where a woman with a tight bun answered. "Her arr the kids, Prefesser McGonagall."
"Thank you Hagrid." She then ushered the kids to follow her. Soon they arrived to a chamber outside two large oaken doors. "Wait here, until invited."
The kids waited in the chamber, when several ghosts appeared and startled some of the first years. Soon enough, the two doors opened, and they were ushered into the hall.
Professor McGonagall is standing with a hat. "I will call your names, and you will be called up to wear the hat. The hat will sort you into one of the four houses: Gryffindor of the brave, Slytherin of the clever, Hufflepuff of the laborious, or Ravenclaw of the studious. This house will be your house for the rest of the time at Hogwarts"
She turned her eyes down to a piece of parchment in her hands. "Abbot, Hannah"
A little blond girl walked up and put on the sorting hat. The hat then yelled out, Hufflepuff after a short while.
It went on like this, with Hermione Granger and Neville going to Gryffindor.
"Potter, Harry".
There is a silence in the hall, and Harry steps forward to put on the hat.
Once the hat is on, a voice echoed in his head "hmm, you are a tricky one. Normally, it is obvious. Let me ask a question. Do you believe that it should be that an individual should help or hurt another individual (Gryffindor hummed the hat), or that an individual should help or hurt a group (Slytherin hummed the hat), or that a group should help or hurt an individual (Ravenclaw hummed the hat), or that a group should help or hurt another group (Hufflepuff)."
"I guess, an individual should hurt a group."
"Slytherin" shouted out the hat.
McGonagall took off the hat with a hushed hall, until the Slytherin table started to give out cheers.
Harry walked over the the table, where he saw a seat open up for him. Harry sat down across from an older and meaner looking student, while Draco was far away down the table.
Harry went back to focusing on the sorting, but in time it ended, with a Blaise Zabini making his way to the Slytherin table.
An old man, looking well past a hundred years, stood up at the table. Aside him was a turbaned man, and a man with greasy black hair, who is constantly giving Harry a dirty look.
"I'm Headmaster Dumbledore, and I would like to invite you to Hogwarts for another semester of learning and tomfoolery" here he gave the Gryffindor table a sharp wink.
"Keeping things short, don't go to the third floor corridor as you will die a grisly death."
"Now, let's sing the school song. Ah one, and ah two..."
People slowly joined in, with some still baffled with the warning of impending death.
Soon, the song was done.
"Now, off to your dormitories".
