![]() Author has written 14 stories for Harry Potter, and Guild Wars. Hi, my name is Tiffany Smith! (The i on the end is imaginary -wink-) I have written four stories for Harry Potter, all of which are discontinued (save for The Hogwarts Tragedy which is a one-shot.) I have written nine stories for Guild Wars 2, all completed (save for Reawakening which is discontinued and The Unbroken which is on extended hiatus), plus My Parodies, which is a random collection of songs I've parodied into GW2. Five of the nine are the Tassof Series, which is on extended hiatus (sorry, guys). I have written zero stories for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, but I've had a few ideas. I have also written zero stories for The Hobbit, though I've had a few ideas. My current obsession is, once again, Guild Wars 2, after temporarily fandom-hopping briefly through Miraculous and The Hobbit. If you have questions, you can contact me: This profile is... in dire need of some formatting. For now, I have a few musings on Miraculous, back when I thought that my two-week obsession was relatively permanent, and nothing left of the long, meandering trail of out-of-date thoughts on GW2. Oh well. I last bothered to update this on 2/12/2021. (I'm mentioning this because I suspect FFN's tracker of this detail is broken.) I check back on FFN every few days or so, for various reasons, so even though PM notifications have stopped working, I'll still see any messages relatively quickly. I absolutely never check AO3, which is a halfhearted attempt at crossposting the Tassof Series (it's still stuck at two chapters into book three, ouch). If you join the Discord, please PING ME, because I keep Discord firmly closed when I'm writing. For how obsessed I am with GW2, I'm relatively rarely on, but if I am, feel free to whisper me! Or send me a mail, I don't care. My obsessions have phases. Sometimes I exit an obsession before going through all of them, but here's the phases! 1 - hear about it and start reading/playing/watching the source material. Spoiler policy: I hate spoilers of any kind, and I'm projecting on you. :P Of course, I can't give ZERO spoilers, so I'll expect some basic knowledge of the fandom. When I'm about to mention a spoiler, I'll give a spoiler alert in parentheses (like this). I'll outline an 'assumed spoiler level' at the beginning of each section. It'll be different per fandom, obviously. Spoiler alerts are good for one paragraph, except where noted otherwise. If you couldn't care less about spoilers, or are confident you know everything already, you can just ignore all this stuff. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (abbreviated MLB) I'm in Phase Five (start coming up with my own lame story ideas) of my obsession with MLB. I've posted zero MLB stories, but I'm currently in the self-delusion that I'm working on it (or maybe I'm in Phase Six and don't know it yet). My Favorite Author from Phase Four is epcot97. Headcanons I've adopted from epcot97 include the fact that the superhero transformation protects from being wet. If you're out in the pouring rain, then go somewhere dry and detransform - presto! You're dry! (Except for maybe your hair.) He also reverts exactly to his previous form. So if he was in the middle of a photoshoot, nothing's messed up. I've also picked up that Cat Noir has enhanced senses as a cat (that's canon, though, at least partially), and that these enhancements transfer to his non-transformed self as well, slowly over time. Also, he can purr like a real cat, at least while transformed. Cat Noir's tail and ears are more 'a part of him' than we usually think, despite the tail being able to be detached. The tail twitches when he's feeling strong emotion, for example, and his ears are sensitive and he can be reduced to a senseless, purring lump if you scratch them. Also, catnip. He goes crazy for catnip. (And Ladybug goes crazy for flowers.) You may notice that these headcanons are mostly about Cat Noir. Good job! Epcot97 rarely writes from the perspective of someone else. Maybe once he writes a story from Ladybug's PoV. Despite not having made any contribution to the fandom yet, I have come up with my own opinions and headcanons concerning MLB. The most important of these is the name of the current Black Cat Miraculous holder, whose name is most definitely Cat Noir and not Chat Noir, because, despite the show being set in Paris, and therefore the characters' native language being French, not English... the English dub clearly shows that his name is Cat Noir, not Chat Noir. Therefore, when writing fanfiction in English, I shall use his English name. Perhaps in the French dub, his name is Chat Noir, because that's French for Black Cat, and this is the Black Cat Miraculous we're talking about here. (I mean, the Ladybug Miraculous holder's name is Ladybug, and the Moth Miraculous holder's name is Hawk Moth, so there IS some sense to the idea.) Now, the fact that the English dub calls him Cat Noir and not Chat Noir is plenty evidence enough for me, but you might be wondering why I feel so strongly about it. Well, that's because I don't speak French, and until I asked, had no idea what the word Noir meant, or even that it was a word. Therefore, when I did ask, I had the pleasant surprise of finding out that Cat Noir's name is a pun, since he's a BLACK CAT. In retrospect and in trying to explain it, it sounds like I'm insanely stupid, but this was when I was still new to the fandom. But this means that I consider his name to not be 'Black Cat' in French. I consider it to be Cat Noir, which tells us he's a cat while giving us an inside wink and peek at the pun. Turning it into Chat Noir, which is a boring French phrase, is just that - BORING. (This, of course, also translates into a supreme hesitation to use to the nickname Chat or Marinette's endearment Chaton (which is probably also from French), since if I turned these into English, it would sound stupid.) In general, I hate abbreviations. Cat Noir called Ladybug 'LB' ONE TIME. Ladybug never abbreviates Cat Noir to something shorter. Same for (spoilers for other superheroes) Rena Rouge, Carapace, Queen Bee and Viperion. To be fair, I think that Cap as an abbreviation of Carapace is cool and I might use it, but just dropping one word from a two-word name is lame. 'Rion as an abbreviation is confusing to me. (Plus it's also Noir backwards, and I'm obsessed with things backwards, so...) I'd much rather call him Viper if anything. BUT I HATE ABBREVIATIONS, so Viperion it is. I also have strong feelings about episode Cat Blanc. (spoilers!) This episode is unique in the fact that it depicts an alternate future with an akumatized Cat Noir (which has never happened before), where all identities are revealed, and Cat Blanc almost ends the world (for all timelines, if Bunnyx's burrow going insane is any indication). I'll start with the funny part and then work on the serious part. The funny part is that apparently Adrien has at least five names?! Unless I'm completely misunderstanding what a Fifth Names' Day is, his name is Adrien something something something Athanase Agreste. Ignoring for the moment that the alliteration of his first and last names is apparently continued in his middle names, (what are his initials, AAAAAA? Even A???AA is funny), this means he has MORE NAMES THAN DUMBLEDORE. I had no idea that was even possible! More about Cat Blanc (spoilers!) is that MOST of the episode isn't even canon, since Ladybug reverts the timeline at the end. This means I get to pretend it never happened if I want to, and I was tempted to for a while. Because Gabriel Agreste acts supremely out of character (at least how I see him). You see, in the Chrismas Special Santa Claws (spoilers!), Gabriel panics and shows very real agitation when he discovers that Adrien has gone missing - and out his bedroom window, no less. Then there was that time (I don't remember the episode this occurred in) Adrien was falling down the side of a building and Ladybug couldn't stop it; Hawk Moth made the villain step in to save him. Those two incidents (along with many other small things) tell me that Gabriel does care about Adrien. When, in Cat Blanc, he (as Hawk Moth) finds out that Adrien is Cat Noir, he drops his cane-thing in shock and surprise. Only a few seconds later, however, he breaks out into an evil grin and declares how excellently awesome this is. Um, hello? How much danger is Cat Noir in on a daily basis - the guy who wouldn't even let Adrien go to school because it was 'too dangerous' is now cackling cruelly over his evil plan that involves Cat Noir being Adrien? Even when, in Gorizilla (I think?) he suspected Adrien might be Cat Noir, he was more concerned than that. Back to Cat Blanc - Hawk Moth then proceeds to reveal his own identity and the secret about Emilie. Then he engages in full, in-person battle with Cat Noir, hitting him so hard that a normal, non-transformed human would probably have some sort of concussion or at least broken several bones, and then akumatizes him. No akuma has ever even attempted to affect Adrien before. BUT GABRIEL DOES NOT TREAT ADRIEN THIS WAY. This is massively out of character for him. Here is my theory, and it is two parts (this is still about Cat Blanc, sorry). The first part is Emilie. When Hawk Moth reveals what he's doing to Cat Noir, he expects Cat Noir to side with him immediately - doesn't he want his mother back? When he doesn't, Hawk Moth flies into a rage, decides that Adrien doesn't count as his son anymore, and attacks him. Gabriel has said several times that Adrien is one of the only things he has left of Emilie; for Adrien to not want to bring her back constitutes betrayal. (To be fair, the other two things that are all he has left of Emilie are a spellbook and a wedding band, which are hardly human beings, but that's going a little far.) This explanation seems sufficient, but my gut says not so, there's something else. The something else is Cat Noir. I think that Hawk Moth secretly respects Cat Noir. Cat Noir is self-confident, assured, fearless, and competent enough to deal with every akuma Hawk Moth throws at him. It would be hard not to respect him (and Ladybug, for that matter). My theory here goes that Hawk Moth, upon realizing that Cat Noir is Adrien, changes his opinion of Adrien entirely. If Cat Noir is Adrien, he reasons, this means that Adrien has managed to circumvent all of Gabriel's security measures and evade suspicion. It also means that Adrien is smart enough to have appeared to prove his suspicions wrong the one time he suspected that Adrien was Cat Noir, even going so far as to comment on his ring. Confronted with this evidence, Gabriel finally admits that Adrien is far more grown-up than he thought, and clearly capable of handling danger and protecting his secret identity. THIS is why Gabriel suddenly stopped treating Adrien as delicately as he had before. It's not I-don't-actually-care-about-you, it's I-finally-respect-you-enough-to-consider-you-my-equal.
