Treat!

Diana frowned as she held the Matter Hatter up by the collar of his jacket, his feet dangling off the ground. She still found it hard to believe that this pathetic man had been able to capture them and force them into playing a part in his delusional stories.

"I still don't know how you two were able to break free from my mind control!" Hatter yelled, waving his hands wildly. "I'm telling you that it's not possible."

"Clearly, it is possible," Diana retorted with a scowl. "There must have been a malfunction in your design."

"Impossible!" he cried. "Absolutely impossible! Everything was working beautifully. The prince had found his princess. Then, you two kissed and then 'poof'…just like that…it was the end of it!"

Diana's mind went back to that intense kiss. The evening was a complete blur up to the point when Bruce had kissed her. It was as if she had literally woken from a dream to find his warm lips pressed urgently against hers, his arm wrapped around her. There was a sense of hidden passion brewing behind the intimate contact.

In a word, it had been…magical.

She lightly ran the tip of her tongue over her lips, swearing that she could still taste him. The kiss had ended all too soon, the fantasy turning into reality when she turned to find Catwoman standing there with them. The wonderful moment had come crashing down around her.

Diana glanced over at Batman who was currently standing rather close to Catwoman. They were quietly talking with a focused attention that was clear to her. If she wanted to, she could have heard what they were saying, but she didn't want to know. The night had been too awkward as it was without adding insult to injury.

It was more than obvious that they shared something, and she wasn't about to get in between it. She clenched her jaw as Batman touched the back of Catwoman's head, Selina grimacing as he gently rubbed a sore spot. It was probably how Mad Hatter had knocked her out when he had lured her into his trap.

Diana looked away, unable to watch any longer. Listening to Mad Hatter rant about how his plan could not have possibly failed only added to her growing frustration and disappointment. This had been a huge mistake coming to Gotham to help Batman on Halloween.

She knew his rule about Metas in Gotham, but she had hoped for a chance to spend time with Bruce, to help him on a night that she knew was sheer chaos for him. Instead, it had turned into a nightmare. Now, she just wanted to go back to the Watchtower, take a hot shower, and drown her frustrations in an iced mocha.

"So, what's going on between you and the Amazon?" Selina asked him, glancing at Wonder Woman who was noticeably annoyed with Mad Hatter who was carrying on like a lunatic.

"Nothing," Batman insisted as he carefully felt for the knot on the back of her head.

Selina chuckled softly, wincing with the pain from his touch. "Bruce, I've known you for a long time," she reminded him as she gave him a pointed look that was difficult to evade. "It's obvious that you have feelings for her."

"It's…complicated," he softly groused after a long moment, casting a sidelong look at the Amazon princess who was trying not to strangle Jervis Tetch. He suppressed a smile as she summarily dropped him on his backside.

"It's only complicated because you make it that way," she replied, poking him in the chest. "You think far too much. You analyze and dissect to death. You need to stop thinking so much and follow your heart for once in your life."

The white slits of Batman's cowls narrowed into thin lines. "I didn't expect such advice from you," he said, his arms disappearing beneath his cape.

Catwoman placed her hand on his chest, a smile spreading across her face. "I want you to be happy, Bruce," she said. "I know that I can't do that for you…but I believe that she can."

"Thank you, Selina," he murmured. "Are you sure you're okay? Maybe you should get your head checked out."

"I'm fine," she assured him. "Nothing that a bottle of wine and a good night's sleep won't fix."

"I'm going to take him in," Diana announced as she approached the pair, wanting nothing more than to get away from here.

"I can take him in, Diana," Batman told her.

"I'm out of here," Selina said with a smirk as she turned on her heel. "It's been fun. Maybe we'll do it again some time."

They watched as she sauntered away, disappearing into the night. Dawn would be making an appearance in another couple of hours or so as the sun rose over the sleeping city. Batman only hoped that the others were able to curb the chaos in Gotham tonight while he was out of commission.

Diana handed Tetch over to Batman, a small smile on her face. "I'm heading home too," she decided, lifting up into the air. "Good night, Batman."

Batman watched as she too disappeared from sight only to be shaken from his thoughts by Mad Hatter. "I still don't understand how you were able to break free from my mind control," Tetch grumbled. "It's a flawless design. No one should've been able to beat it."

Batman mulled over that fact, dismissing the notion that abruptly appeared in his mind. "It's a mystery that you'll have plenty of time to unravel in prison."

Mad Hatter snorted in anger as he crossed his arms defiantly across his chest like a disgruntled child. "I will get to the bottom of it one way or another and when I do, I'll back."

"And I'll be here to stop you."

XXX

Diana pulled the bath towel from her hair as she exited the bathroom, tossing it on the floor. She picked up her large, iced mocha off the desk, savoring the taste of it as well as the euphoria that it always brought her. It helped to soothe a measure of the turbulent emotions still roiling through her.

She was more than a little disappointed with how the evening in Gotham had turned out. She couldn't get the picture of Batman and Catwoman interacting out of her mind. It kept creeping into her thoughts and taunting her with something that she wanted but couldn't have.

It was time to move on…time to let him go. He belonged to another, and she would not interfere.

Heading to her dresser, she pulled out her workout clothes, deciding an intense workout was definitely in order. She felt the overwhelming need to beat something. Hopefully, she could sweat him out of her system…if she could be that lucky.

The sound of a knock at her door stopped her from dressing. Wondering who it could be at this hour, she pushed the door open to reveal Batman at her door.

"Bruce," she murmured in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

"May I come in?" he asked, briefly glancing down the hallway to make sure he wasn't spotted by any of the other Founders.

"Sure," she replied, stepping aside.

Bruce removed his cowl and gauntlets, trying desperately not to look at Diana dressed in nothing but a red silk robe. He could feel a sweat break out over him as he struggled to order his thoughts. "Thanks," he muttered almost inaudibly as he tossed his gear onto a nearby chair.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, curious about his appearance. "Is Selina all right?"

"She's fine," he rushed to assure her, not really wanting to talk about his former girlfriend. "I wanted to make sure that you were okay. You left so quickly, and I didn't get a chance to talk to you."

"Me?" she said, stunned by his response. "I'm fine. I don't really remember much after we entered the building until you kissed me in that rundown mansion."

"I don't remember much either," he confessed, almost nervously raking his fingers back through his jet-black hair as if to gather himself. "I just remember we were arguing and then the distress call from that building before it all went black."

"I wonder what broke Mad Hatter's mind control," she replied.

"I think it was the kiss after you woke from the spell," he told her.

"The kiss?" she questioned him. "How would that have broken his ability to control our minds?"

Bruce looked down at his hands clenched tightly at his sides as he tried to force himself to reveal his heart to her. It was the one thing that he had never been able to master even after all of these years. He'd been able to master every other area of his life except for this.

"I think it's because it was no longer rooted in fantasy but reality," he ventured, swallowing hard.

Diana tried her best to keep her heart from racing out of rhythm, but it was difficult with what he was telling her. "It was because we were no longer playing a part?"

He slowly nodded his head, his cerulean blue eyes piercing through to her soul for an answer that he desperately hoped to find buried there. "The truth came out in that moment," he explained, his voice growing softer as he added, "at least for me it did."

Her lips quirked with his confession, barely believing what she was actually hearing at that moment. Was the fearsome Dark Knight of Gotham truly admitting he was in love with her? It seemed impossible and magical and surreal all rolled up into one spectacular moment.

"But what about Selina?" she ventured, hating to bring Catwoman into this but she had to know. She wasn't going to play second fiddle to anybody, especially to a villain.

"Selina and I have been over for a long time, Diana," he admitted, finding himself taking a step closer to her. "There hasn't been anyone else for a long time."

She seemed almost small as he towered before her and yet so formidable in her stance. She was taller than most women and the strongest of all of them in the entire world…and she was standing here before him smiling as if he had just given her the sun, moon, and stars.

"I'm relieved to hear that because I love you too," she confessed.

The corner of his lips curled into a partial smirk, relieved by her mutual feelings for him. "Well, now that we have that out of the way, I guess there is just one more thing that we need to address," he coyly responded, his gaze wandering over her red silk robe with thoughts that would likely make even the Amazon blush.

She tilted her head to the side as she studied him, her hands finding her hips as she wondered what else there could possibly be to discuss. They had just admitted having very strong feelings for each other. What more could there possibly be?

"What would that be?" she questioned.

"The fact that you showed up in Gotham last night without my permission," he sternly stated, giving her his best Batglare. "You know my rule, princess, and you still broke it. There have to be consequences. What do you suggest we do about it?"

Diana gave him a sexy smirk as she slowly untied her bathrobe. Her sapphire eyes never left his as she allowed her robe to fall open to reveal the exquisiteness beneath. "I guess I just have trouble remembering it," she flirted with him. "Maybe I need to be punished so I'll remember it better next time."

Bruce leering stare slowly raked over the bounty that lay partially exposed beneath her robe, readily deciding he needed more…much, much more. He drank in her beauty from head to toe before his hungry gaze finally met hers once more.

"You've left me no choice, Diana," he huskily agreed as he removed his utility belt, tossing it onto the nearby chair with his cowl and gauntlets. "I guess I'm just going to have to teach you a lesson that you won't soon forget."

Diana felt a fierce flutter in her stomach as he reached for her, his fingers pushing the silken material from her shoulders and watching with rapt fascination as it fell to the floor to fully reveal her in all her gods-given glory. He felt her shiver beneath his fingers as he lightly ran the tips of them down the length of her arm.

She exhaled with a shudder as his hands cupped her breasts. Her eyelids fluttered closed as he began to stroke her, her knees growing weak with the feel of him touching her. She moaned softly, deciding she needed more of him.

Opening her eyes, her hand slipped around the back of his head as she crushed her lips against his, kissing him with all of the pent-up tension and desire that had been building up inside of her for far too long. She wasn't going to allow this opportunity to pass her by without making him know just how much she wanted him…how much she loved him.

Bruce groaned deeply as her tongue explored the warm cavern of his mouth with a desire that mirrored his own, concluding that he was too overdressed at that moment. Diana seemed to feel the same as she began tearing off his uniform. A menacing growl from the back of his throat told her she had just shredded his uniform beyond repair, but she didn't really care at that moment.

They had been tricked last night and now she was ready for her treat.

"That was my uniform, princess," he growled throatily, lifting her up to wrap her legs around his waist. "How do you expect me to leave your quarters?"

Diana's lips brushed against his, her breath hot against his face as she squeezed him tightly with her thighs. "Who said I was going to let you leave my quarters?" she flirted with a sexy smirk on her lips. "I finally have you where I want you, Dark Knight, and I don't plan on letting you go."

He tilted his head to capture her mouth in a fierce, possessive kiss as he turned to push her up against the door. "And I finally have you where I want you," he breathily replied, shifting his hips and filling her completely.

She cried out his name as she gripped his hair, her head falling back against the door with a gasp as he began to move. It took a moment for her to recover enough to respond to his movements, finally moving with him as her mouth sought out his.

Her arm wrapped around his neck; her hand splayed against his muscular back as he took her. She felt as if every single nerve ending was firing at once, making her dizzy with the passion and hunger for this man that was thrumming through her.

"Bru…Bruce…" she breathlessly chanted his name as he took her to heights she'd never known before.

Bruce tightened his grip on her bottom with one hand, his other hand bracing himself against her door. He felt as though he was about to explode as she stole what little breath he had left with her searing kiss. This amazing woman was everything that he had ever fantasied about and so much more. He'd wanted this with her so long and now she was finally his.

Diana swore she was going to be torn apart at the seams with the pleasure spiking through her body and the force of his thrusts. She came with a strangled cry that turned into a drawn-out moan as Bruce emptied himself deep inside of her.

She kissed him with a love that she felt with every fiber of her being as he carried her to her bed, falling into it together. She immediately crawled on top of him, gazing down at him with a languid, sated smile that spoke volumes about how incredible he had just made her feel.

"That was amazing," she purred, leaning down to grace him with a leisurely kiss.

Bruce's hands found her hips, staring up at her with the same euphoric smile on his face. "It was the best Halloween I've ever had," he agreed.

Diana stretched out over the length of him, her face cradled in the crook of his neck. His arms wrapped around her, holding her close to him. "The night turned out much better than I thought it would."

"You thought I was going home with Selina, didn't you?"

"Yeah," she sheepishly confessed as she caressed the side of his face.

"You're the one that I love, Diana…no one else," he swore to her.

"I love you too," she admitted, kissing along his jaw.

"And even though I love you, I still have to punish you for breaking the rules," he huskily reminded her, playfully smacking her on her bottom.

She gasped with the unexpected smack, her lips curling into a smirk as she lifted her head to look at him. "This is a treat," she decided, nipping at his bottom lip as he rolled her onto her back.
