1213roxas: Kiryu's pairing choices will only be between Kotori and Anna, as for Luna I'm not sure if I'll include her or the Manga characters, I'll probably make my choice on that in book 2. If I do include Luna I'll probably pair her with Shark, My other planned pairings are Yuma with Cat and I'm leaning for Rio with Durbe. Kiryu's friends will not appear in this story, they were only meant to be a casual mention at the beginning.

AmethystEspeon: It would be a better idea to consider this as more of a spiritual rewrite of In Another World With My Dueling Deck then an actual rewrite of it and judge them as separate entities. I do hope as this goes on I am able to capture your interest with this version of the story.(I'm assuming you meant that one when you said previous fic)
Chapter 2: The Falcon's First Fight
Yuma, Astral, Kotori and I were now wandering through a construction site.
"Yuma, Wait this is dangerous!" Kotori said to Yuma trying to direct him out of the hazardous area.
"It's Fine! It's Fine! We're just passing through." Yuma says dismissively.
"Yuma, Kotori's right." I said in a stern tone, gaining his attention, "I grew up around many construction sites due to my surrogate Uncle so I know how dangerous it is to be carefree around here.
"Kiryu has the right idea, forget just passing through, we should just go the other way!" Kotori points out, "Geez, write it off as a shortcut all you want, but we can't walk around a construction site!" she muttered, slowing down a bit to look around.
"I'm guessing he's always like this?" I ask Kotori, slowing down a bit to match per pace, while keeping up the appearance that I didn't know anything about them.
"Yuma, what exactly do you use a construction site for?" Astral inquired of Yuma.
"You don't even know that?" Yuma asks Astral.
I leaned over to Kotori, "Who's he talking to?" I ask her with a mask of confusion on my face.
"Huh?" Kotori blinks in surprise before realization flashes through them, "Oh right you wouldn't know, well he's talking to Astral." she tells me.
"Astral?" I asked as I saw Yuma trying to explain construction to Astral.
Kotori put her finger on her chin in a thinking pose that made her look cute, "Hmm, I guess he's sort of a Dueling Spirit?" she asks more than states tilting her head.
"Hoh, sounds interesting." I tell her with a hum.
"Yuma, c'mon, let's go back." Kotori tries to disway Yuma once more.
"Get over here already you two." Yuma says to us.
Suddenly two steel girders broke off from above and started to fall towards Kotori and I.
"KOTORI!" Yuma cried out as Kotori screamed in fear.
Have you ever been playing a video game and then suddenly out of nowhere your annoying friend just yanks the controller away from you and starts playing? Well if you're imagining that, Stop because it's nothing like what happened to me but not an inaccurate description.
I felt like I was in the back seat as suddenly my body automatically moved, picking Kotori bridal style. I performed a series of high agility acrobatic jumps off of the falling girders and launched myself forward avoiding the steel beams as I landed in front of Yuma in a crouch.
"Wow…" Yuma says in awe at the movements I just made.
'Huh, I guess I have Shun's agility and strength now.' I think to myself.
"Are you alright, Kotori?" Yuma asks his childhood friend.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine!" Kotori says, still a bit in shock, "Umm, Kiryu?" she asks me
"Hmm?" I hum looking down at her.
"C-can you let me down?" She says a bit flustered.
"Oh, Sorry." I tell Kotori, Realizing I was still holding her as I fully regained cognitive control, I set her down, a light blush dusting my cheeks.
"What the heck was that?" Yuma asks, looking at where the beams had fallen from.
I flicked Yuma on the forehead, "This is why construction sites are dangerous, even just for cutting through." I tell him in a stern tone.
"Darn You!" A voice cuts out making the three of us turn to see someone who looks elementary schooler age, "Not even wearing safety helmets, not to mention walking around on a construction site.!" He scolds us.
"Kids got a point." I state.
"What, a Kid, I'm Shobee Yuatsu! I'm a Middle schooler, Damn you!" Shobee snaps at me.
"Hoh, so you're a middle schooler!" I mutter in a tone of interest laced with I don't care, "But you're still a kid to me." I say with a cheeky grin.
"How old are you?" Kotori asks me.
"I'm 17" I tell her, giving out Shun's age, which made sense seeing as I was physically Shun right now.
"Oh, so you're the same as Kotori and I." Yuma comments.
"I'm Kotori Mizuki, This is Yuma and Kiryu." Kotori introduces herself along with Yuma and I.
I saw Astral look at a bolt out of the corner of my eye as Shobee guided us to a safer part of the area.
"What a huge truck." Yuma comments, as a truck a Whailord could probably fit in drove past.
"That thing can still move even if it carries 300 tons of grout at once." Shobee tells me.
"Wow, 300 at once, impressive!" Yuma comments.
I whacked Yuma on the head, "No Yuma not like THAT, and why pigs?" I asked him.
"Ehh, how did you know I was thinking about pigs?" Yuma asks in surprise.
I shrugged, "It just felt like you were."
"This is the 750-ton class crane, it can easily handle a rocket!" Shobee says pointing to another piece of equipment.
"Really, that's awesome!"
"There are hexagonal parts over there as well, I guess every structure here is connected by those tin parts" Astral observed.
"When you think about it all, this is really incredible." Yuma gushes out.
"So you get it, I guess you do get it." Shobee says chipperly.
"Boys really do love these kinds of things, don't they?" Kotori asks no one in particular.
I chuckled, "I can't deny that point."
"I really want to try operating that thing!" Yuma mutters in awe.
"I know, right? Don't you just?!" Shobee asks.
"They are pretty fun to work with." I say leaning on the railing.
"You've driven one of those before?" Yuma asks, looking at me.
I hum looking down below, "Yeah, sometimes when I was younger my uncle, if the construction site wasn't too far along and completely hazardous, would let me sit on his lap as he worked the machines.
"Man, you're lucky." Shobee mutters jealousy, "Nonetheless, this is why I decided to participate in the Duel Carnival." he tells us.
Kotori and Yuma blink in surprise.
"In dueling, even a short guy like me is able to control heavy-class cranes, and all those machine Monsters I've dreamed of, You know it's always something I've wanted to do." Shobee tells us.
"That's not a bad dream ya got there, Shobee." I told the chibi middle schooler.
"I think I can understand how you feel." Yuma tells him.
"Huh, You're in the Duel Carnival too?" Shobee asks Yuma.
"We both are." I say lifting up my heart piece from under my shirt.
"Wait, Kiryu you're in the Duel Carnival, why didn't you say anything?" Yuma asks me.
I frowned, "When did you ask me this?" I asked, thinking back then I remembered my fiddling with the Duel Disk and finding the scanning option, I blushed a bit, "Oops sorry Yuma, in my defense asking me when I wasn't paying attention probably wasn't the best idea." I told him.
Yuma laughs, "Yeah I guess."
I put on a serious face, "Yuma do you mind if I take this duel, since I haven't fought yet?" I asked him
"Sure, I don't mind, I'd love to see you duel." Yuma grins widely.
I turned to Shobee, "Is that fine with you?" I asked him
Shobee nodded, "Alright, but let's make it clear that you won't win against my almighty Heavy Industry deck." he tells me.
"Don't underestimate the power of my deck." I say in retort.
"Alright, then let's have a match!" Shobee says with a grin.
I activated the duel disk with deployed a purple hard light blade, which was more Yuto's color then the blue one Shun's had. A loading bar circled quickly around the duel disk, while it said Seeking Opponent. I felt a slight itch over my left eye as code started appearing.
Looking at my reflection in my duel disk, I noticed that my left eye was now bright yellow and had a pupil like a hawks, with three red markings surrounding it that looked like a Claw.
AR Vision - Link established.
"Duel!" Shobee and I cried out. (Shobee:4000/5) (Kiryu:4000/5)
"I'll go first!" Shobee declares, "It's my turn, Draw!" he says drawing his card.
"I summon Jumbo Drill!" Shobee slaps the card onto his Duel Disk as a giant two armed drill bursts through the floor. (Jumbo Drill/Level 4/1800 ATK)
"Next I activate the Magic Card Charging Construction!" He said activating his spell card, "When a "Heavy Industry" monster is summoned this turn, this card lets me Special Summon a "Heavy Industry" monster from my hand in Defense mode, So now I Special Summon Road Roller in defense mode!" A steamroller surges forth out of a darkened area. (Road Roller/Level 4/2100 DEF)
"And now Drill Jumbo's Monster effect activates, It gains 300 ATK for each "Heavy Industry" monster on the field." Shobee states as Drill Jumbo revs up. (Drill Jumbo: 1800 ATK - 2100 ATK)
"Whoo-hoo, Heavy Industry monsters are so Cool!" Yuma gushes from the Peanut Gallery.
"Is this really the time to be saying that, Kiryu's opponent has already summoned two monsters." Astral asks Yuma.
"I set one card face-down and end my turn!" Shobee says setting a card face down, "Now, feel the power of my Heavy Industry Deck! He challenges me (Shobee:2)
It's my turn!" I say drawing my card.
"I wonder what kind of deck Kiryu plays?" Yuma asks himself.
"I summon Raidraptor - Skull Eagle!" I say slapping the card into the blade as the monster appeared on my field (RR - Skull Eagle/Level 3/1000 ATK)
"Next, Since I control a face up Raidraptor card, I can Special Summon this guy, Come Heel Eagle!" I called out. (RR-Heel Eagle/Level 3/700 ATK)
"Two Level 3 Monsters" Astral observes.
"Is it coming?" Yuma wonders.
"Next, I activate the Magic Card, Swallow's Nest!" I say activating the quick play spell, "By releasing Heel Eagle, I can Special Summon a Winged Beast monster from my deck with the same Level." I said as a card ejected from my deck, "Come, Raidraptor Skull Eagle!" I called out as a second Skull Eagle appeared on my field. (RR-Skull Eagle/Level 3/1000 ATK)
"Huh, Why did Kiryu do that?" Kotori asks Yuma.
"I'm not sure." Yuma says just as confused.
"I overlay my two Level 3 Raidraptor - Skull Eagles!" I declared as the monsters entered the Overlay Network, "Xyz Summon, Come Forth Rank 3 Raidraptor - Fiend Eagle!" I called out as my Xyz Monster appeared (RR-Fiend Eagle/Rank 3/1000 ATK/OLU:2)
"It only has 1000 Attack Points." Yuma says underwhelmed.
"Next I activate the effect of Skull Eagle which was used as Xyz Material." I called out, "The Summoned Xyz Monster gains 300 ATK, so because I used two of them, Fiend Eagle now gains 600 Attack." I declared as two shadows of Skull eagle formed behind Fiend Eagle. (RR - Fiend Eagle: 1000 ATK - 1600 ATK)
"Not bad." Astral comments.
"But it still only has 1600 Attack, You'll need a better power up than that to scare me!" Shobee comments.
"I equip Fiend Eagle with Raptor's Ultimate Mace!" I said activating the card from my hand, "This card gives my Raidraptor monster 1000 ATK. (RR-Fiend Eagle:1600 ATK - 2600 ATK)
Shobee smirks "Well, aren't you something, damn you!" He compliments me.
"Fiend Eagle, attacks Jumbo Drill!" I declared making my attack as Fiend Eagle let out a screech.
"Nice once, but I activate my trap." Shobee declared as his set card flipped open, "Foreman's Fury, When a Machine-type monster I control battles, this card reduces my opponent's monster's attack power by 1000 Points." he explains.
"Not good enough!" I told him.
"Ehh?" Shobee says in surprise as my peanut gallery looks on in confusion.
"I activate Fiend Eagle's monster effect!" I announced as an Overlay Unit was absorbed, "Each turn by detaching an Overlay Unit from this card, I can inflict damage to you equal to a Special Summoned Monster on the field, so you now take Fiend Eagle's Attack as damage." I said as my Xyz Monster zapped shobee. (Shobee:4000 LP - 1400 LP)
"Darn, I didn't expect that." Shobee huffs out, "But at least you take some damage as well." he says as his trap resolves lowering Fiend Eagle's attack (RR-Fiend Eagle: 2600 ATK - 1600 ATK
"Be gone!" he calls out as Jumbo Drill counter attacks destroying my monster.
"Raptor's Ultimate Mace's effect, when the equipped monster is destroyed by battle, I can make the Battle Damage 0, Then I add 1 "Spell" card from my deck to my hand." I said as a card ejects from my deck and I add it to my hand.
"Amazing, Kiryu was in complete control there." Astral remarks.
"I set 2 cards face down and end my turn." I said as my set cards materialized. (Kiryu: 1)
"I'll get you back for what you've done, It's my turn, Draw!" Shobee says drawing for his turn, "I summon Strong Shovel Excavator!" he says summoning his third monster. (Strong Shovel Excavator/Level 3/1800 ATK)
"Now that there's another "Heavy Industry" monster on the field, Jumbo Drill gains another 300 Attack Points." Shobee says as his monster gains more attack. (Jumbo Drill: 2100 ATK - 2400 ATK)
"I use Strong Shovel to attack you Directly!" Shobee declares
"Kiryu!" Kotori calls out in worry.
"Double Trap Open, The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace!" I said as my two set cards open, I reduce Jumbo Drill and Strong Shovel's attack by 600, then I can summon these two cards in attack position as monsters." I say as Shobee's monsters lost attack power, while I gained two on my field. (Jumbo Drill:2400 ATK - 1800 ATK) (Strong Shovel Excavator:1800 ATK - 1200 ATK) (PK-Lost Vambrace/Level 2/600 ATK)
"In that case, Strong Shovel attack Lost Vambrace." Shobee orders his monster as it strikes the
Pseudo Trap monster. (Kiryu: 4000 - 3400)
"What, why isn't your monster destroyed?" Shobee asks when he sees my monster is still on the field.
"This turn, Phantom Knights monsters can't be destroyed in battle due to Lost Vambraces effect." I explained.
"But you still take battle damage, Go Jumbo Drill!" Shobee says as he orders his monster to attack.
I just stood there calmly as the shockwave lowered my life. (Kiryu:3400 - 2200)
"You like that, high output, high horsepower, My Heavy Industry deck with it's high potential is known for its great durability!" Shobee laughs boastfully. (Jumbo Drill: 1800 ATK - 100 DEF)
"Huh, it's in defense mode now?" Yuma points out wondering why.
"Well, it's just that when Jumbo Drill attacks, it switches to defense mode until the end of my next turn and I can't change it. Goddammit!" Shobee explains bashfully.
"So it's in sleep mode?" Yuma asks.
"W-when Construction Equipment reach their maximum power, they need maintenance, you never know when the engine'll malfunction." Shobee says in a way of explanation.
I nodded, "That's true for all machinery." I commented, while mentally laughing at Yuma's lost face.
"It's my turn, Draw!" I said drawing my card, which I quickly played. "I activate the magic card Tannhauser gate, Thanks to this card's effect my two Lost Vambraces Levels become the combined total, meaning they are both Level 4 now. (PK-Lost Vambrace: LV2 - LV 4)
"I Overlay my two Lost Vambraces." I declared as the monsters built the overlay network for the second time, "Xyz Summon, Appear Rank 4 Raider's Knight. (Raider's Knight/Rank 4/2000 ATK/OLU:2)
"Battle, Raider's Knight attacks Strong Shovel!" I ogre as my knight charges forth.
Shobee lets out a scream as he flies back. (1400 - 500)
"I set one card face down and end my turn." I set the last card in my hand, "Come on, show me this so-called power of your Heavy Industry deck so far I'm not impressed." I goad Shobee.
"What was that, So called Power?!" Shobee says angrily, "I'll show you the power of my deck and win!"
"Shobee?" Yuma says concerned about his tone.
"When I was still in Elementary School" Shobee started to narrate before I completely zoned out "...Blah Blah Blah Blah Wimp, Blah Blah Blah Blah Power, Blah Blah Blah Construction Equipment."
I snapped back to attention when I realized Shobee was speaking about present times.
"I'm gonna use the Heavy Industry Monsters to win the Duel Carnival!" Shobee states.
I smirked, "Not too bad kid." I compliment him as Yuma and Kotori smile from the sides.
"It's my turn, Draw!" Shobee cries out drawing his card, "I activate the Magic Card Scrap and Build, This card lets me summon a Level 3 or lower Machine type monster from the GY, Revive Strong Shovel!" he calls out as his destroyed monster returns. (Strong Shovel Excavator/Level 3/1800 ATK)
It's Level is increased by one when it is Special Summoned from the Cemetery." Shobee explains as Strong Shovel gains a Level (Strong Shovel Excavator: LV 3 - LV4)
"And now I activate the Magic card Overhaul, this card increases the Level of all Machine type monsters on my field by one!" Shobee explains as all his monsters go up a Level.(Jumbo Drill: LV 4 - LV 5) (Road Roller: LV 4 - LV 5) (Strong Shovel Excavator: LV 4 - LV 5)
"Shobee's got 3 Level 5 Monsters." Yuma comments.
"Here it comes!" Astral observes.
"Kiryu." Kotori says in concern
"Now see this ultra-gigantic power!" Shobee declares.
I smirked, "Come!"
"I overlay my Level 5 Drill Jumbo, Road Roller and Strong Shovel!" Shobee states as his three monsters build the network, "I construct the Overlay Network with these three monsters, Xyz Summon, The mecha arm which can destroy rocks, Come forth, my Xyz Monster!" he cries out as the monster bursts forth from the ground. "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry" (Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry/Rank 5/3200 ATK/OLU:3)
"3200 Attack power?" Yuma says in awe.
I let out a whistle, "Not bad." I stated.
"This is my great Xyz Monster, Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry" Shobee declares, "I activate Digvorzhak's monster effect, by detaching an Overlay Unit, Digvorzhak can send the top three cards from my opponent's deck to the Cemetery." he said as his Xyz Monster's engines roared up, the winds pulling away three cards from my deck which were, Raidraptor - Readiness, RaidRaptor- Napalm Dragonius and Raider's Wing.
"Kiryu's cards!" Yuma cried out, concerned.
"And this effect destroys cards on my opponent's field equal to the number of Monsters that were sent!" Shobee explains.
"What, he sent two monsters to the graveyard!" Yuma comments.
"That means…" Astral says.
"So I now destroy your Monster and Set card, take this Full-Horsepower Crusher!" Shobee cries out and the Xyz Monster destroys my two cards on the field.
"Kiryu's field is empty along with his hand." Kotori says.
"Now if Kiryu gets hit with a direct attack, he'll lose!" Yuma mutters.
"Calm down Yuma, Kiryu doesn't seem to be worried, he must have a plan." Astral tells Yuma after observing me, which was true as I had a calm expression on my face.
"Now then, Digvorzhak, Attack Kiryu Directly! Full Throttle!" Shobee orders as his monster charges forth loudly.
"What, so noisy!" Yuma says, covering his ears.
"More, let your engine roar Digvorzhak, Wipe out all of Kiryu's life!" Shobee cries out fiercely, "Go, Ultimate Machine Impact!"
Digvorzhak's wheel was spinning so fast it turned orange from the heat, the attack hit me sending a cloud of dust flying obscuring me.
"KIRYU!" Kotori and Yuma cry out in concern.
"Heh, I told you my Heavy Industry deck was the Stron….Ehhh!" Shobee started but stopped when the smoke cleared showing my life unchanged.
"What happened?" Yuma asked, confused.
"By all rights that attack should have hit." Astral states.
"How do you still have life points?" Shobee asks.
"I activated the effect of Raidraptor - Readiness in my GY which your monster just sent there, by banishing this card from the GY, I take no damage this turn." I explained.
"Tchh, I'll win next turn, Turn end." Shobee declares.
"Can Kiryu do this?" Kotori asks.
"The odds are against him, Kotori, but I somehow feel that I can believe in him." Yuma says.
Kotori smiles, "You're right Yuma, I can't explain it, but I just get that feeling from him, I believe in Kiryu."
"It's my turn, Draw!" I said drawing my card, I looked at it and smirked "So this is your answer." I muttered to my deck.
"Huh?" Shobee says confused before smirking, "What's wrong, Kiryru feeling helpless against my super powerful Digvorzhak?"
"I activate the Magic Card Rank Up Magic, Soul Shave Force!" I declared playing the spell card.
"Rank Up?!" Everyone shouted in surprise.
"I pay half my life" I said as my life went down (Kiryu: 2200 - 1100) "Next I Special Summon a Raidraptor Xyz Monster from my GY, and thank's to Raider's Knight's effect it is always treated as a Raidraptor Monster, Then I use Raider's Knight and rebuild the Overlay Network to Xyz Summon a monster that's two ranks higher!" I said as the monster re entered the Overlay Network, "Prideful falcon, Spread your wings, dyed in the blood of heroes, and charge through the path of revolution! Rank Up Xyz Change! Appear, Rank 6! RaidRaptors - Revolution Falcon!" I cried out as I performed my first, and the first in this timeline Rank Up. (Raidraptors - Revolution Falcon,Rank 6/2000 ATK/OLU:1)
"I've never heard of this Summoning Method!" Astral Says in shock.
"Amazing, your amazing Kiryu." Yuma says geeking out.
"Your interesting Kiryu, I never would have expected this, but your monster is still no match for Digvorzhak." Shobee comments.
"Revolution Falcon's Monster effect, If this card is Xyz Summoned by using a Rank 5 or lower Raidraptor Xyz Monster as Xyz Material I can destroy a Special Summoned monster you control." I declared.
"W-What?!" Shobee said as Revolution Falcon began to drop bombs on Digvorzhak.
"Digvorzhak." Kotori said in concern.
"My strongest power, gone in an instant." Shobee says in disbelief.
"Then you take damage equal to half the destroyed monster's attack, Taste the wrath of the untamed power you had pride in." I finished.
"Damn You!" Shobee cries out as he goes flying back. (Shobee: 500 - 0) (Kiryu: WIN!)
I deactivated my Duel Disk as My D-Tattoo dispelled automatically.
"But Why, Why did I lose even when I had all that power." Shobee says angrily.
"Because you focused on power alone!" I told him.
"Huh?" Shobee says confused.
I gave a gesture around me, "Look around you, like my deck and this construction area. They both are small powers on their own, but like my monsters and the bolts that keep this skyscraper held up, alone they are small but together they form a strength to stand up to any adversity."
Shobee looks down at a panel in front of him in thought before tossing me the Heart Piece, "Well, I lost, So take my Heart Piece, damn you!"
"You were a good duelist, Shobee, I'll face you again anytime" I tell him.
"You got a point, I forgot one very important thing, you don't need huge power to build huge things." Shobee tells us.
"Shobee, you may be small, but you're so cool!" Kotori tells him.
"Huh?" Yuma says confused.
"No, no way!" Shobee says flustered.
"Small Power, huh?" Astral comments from above.
"THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS DOIN' HERE?!" The foreman calls out at us.
Kotori, Yuma and Shobee cry out in shock.
"What happens if ya'll get hurt?!"
"S-sorry!" The three cried out running away as Astral and I chased after them.
For my first duel with Solid Vision, I think I didn't do to bad of a job if I say so myself, if things lined up correctly that means Anna was the next duel, I gave of a smirk eager to face off against my other Zexal Crush and her deck of trains.
