One More Time

Forty-Two: Darkness Comes Around

Grey Manor

"What did you just say?" Erik asked.

"Well, it seems Sherlock fell into drugs," Elrond told him. He had been informed the moment it had happened.

"I am going to murder him," Erik said.

"Thanks, for the information Elrond," Charles said. "I will take it from here,"

"He has been missing for weeks and this is the reason," Erik told him.

"I think you are being rather obtuse," Charles told him, and Erik looked at him.

"What do you mean?" Erik asked.

"Sherlock would not do something this stupid unless."

"He is on a case," Erik said with a groan.

"Also, I have checked our contacts someone has landed in London and it seems his claws have gone around,"

"You don't mean,"

"Yes," Charles told him.

"This means everyone is in danger," Erik told him.

"We are going to have a visitor," Sherlock told her.

He moved out of her way and went to take a shower. Joan touched her forehead and knew that she needed to get ready for what was to come. She waited for Sherlock to get out and get dressed before they touched the elephant in the room. When he was ready and sitting down, she slammed the tea down.

"I know you must be a bit disappointed,"

"You have been missing for a few weeks and it's because you have been getting, high," Joan said.

"It's for a case,"

"I better hope the case is incredibly important," Joan told him.

"All cases are important," Sherlock told her. "I have disappointed you,"

"Yes, you have," Joan said. "We are supposed to be doing this together and in something like this it's just like."

"I can assure you it is not," Sherlock told her standing up and going for Joan's laptop.

"There has been no other man that has turned my stomach like this man, Charles Augustus Magnussen,"

"Worst than Sauron?" she asked.

"That is the thing, he knows everything on the Western Hemisphere and even beyond, I am not kidding when I say he is the Napoleon of Blackmail," he explained to her.

"Oh no," Joan said, her mind working in double time. "That's why you got high,"

"I knew you would get it," Sherlock said with a smile.

"It is not funny," Joan said. "He is in media, he could try to use this to destroy you,"

"Well, he has created a fortress of forbidden knowledge," Sherlock told her, showing her. "Nothing is computerized, everything is under there on a vault,"

They heard a knock at the door and Mrs. Hudson came inside.

"The doorbell has been ringing, can't you hear it?" she asked them.

"I think you destroyed it in the last experiment," Joan told Sherlock.

"Huh, that's why the fridge was ringing," he said.

"Who is it?" Joan asked.

"Well…" Mrs. Hudson didn't know how to explain. Joan and Sherlock shared a look. They both stood by the fireplace as the man came inside with his bodyguards. Joan looked at the man and he gave her some chills. She looked at both and smile, but his smile was focused more on her.

"Mr. Magnusson, I have been asked to intercede with you by Lady Elizabeth Smallwood in the matter of her husbands' letters," Sherlock said, and Joan noticed that the man wasn't paying attention, he was just looking around. "He's dead so they aren't used of you- "the man laughed.

"-Something I said," Sherlock asked.

"No, just reading," he told them. "Maybe nothing,"

"Am I acceptable to you as an intermediary?" Sherlock asked.

"Lady Elizabeth Smallwood, I like her," he told them getting up. "That's the good thing about the English so domesticated," he moved in between them to the fireplace. He began to speak about being a nation of herbivores but that is not what Joan was focusing on as the man was pissing in the fireplace. She wanted to do something, but Sherlock touched her hand. All she knew was that the entire apartment would get disinfected after this.

"I may need those letters so tell Lady Elizabeth I will be keeping them," he told them, he showed them envelopes. "Also, their funny,"

The man left and Joan breathed in.

"Did you notice?"

"I noticed a lot of things, but what are you speaking about,"

"He showed us the letters, so he is ready to make a deal, he now thinks I'm a drug addict and my poor fiancé is in distraught," he told her. "So, he brought the letters to London and they will be in his safe, in his office, and since he has an event tonight,"

"How do you know his schedule?" Joan asked.

"Because I do," Sherlock told her. "I need to make preparations, please be ready when I send instructions,"

"You do realize, we have a wedding to plan," Joan said.

"We will get married just a small step for the greater good," Sherlock told her.

"Fine, but I am calling to get this flat clean," Joan told him.

"Yes, that will actually be a good idea," Sherlock told her.

They walked around the building and Joan was surprised they were able to get inside.

"What are we going to do next?"

"We are going to go inside, thankfully we have a woman on the inside without them knowing," Sherlock told her. Joan was sort of worried about who it could be.

"Holmes?" the voice came through the camera and Joan recognized the voice.

"I promised to bring her," Sherlock said with a smile.

"You are nuts," she told him.

"Well, we are getting married, and who else than you to be at the wedding,"

"What?" Joan said.

"I found your sister dear," Sherlock told her putting in front of the camera. "What is a reunion if you can't see each other,"

"Alright, I'll let you in," Harry opened the elevator, and they went inside.

"Are you serious?" Joan asked.

"I found out that he got Harry as his PA a few months ago," Sherlock told her.

"So, he has been looking into us," Joan said.

"Yes," Sherlock told her. They walked into the office and Joan saw Harry on the ground.

"Harry," Joan said going to her older sister and began to check her. Sherlock looked around and smelled something.

"What is that it smells like Oud Wood by Tom Ford," Sherlock told her.

"Garrett wears that perfume," Joan tells him. "It seems someone knocked her out from the back,"

"That means that they are still here," Sherlock said.

"Should I call the police?"

"We are technically not supposed to be here," Sherlock said moving to the main office.

"Sherlock," Joan said.

Sherlock walked into the room and saw the man in the room. Magnusson was on the ground.

"Come on this is not you Garrett," Sherlock said.

"Mr. Holmes that is not Garrett," Magnusson told him. The man turned around and Sherlock was surprised.
