AN: Hello and welcome to my first ever fic. It's a Harry potter/crossover semi SI gamer fic that will start in the Harry Potter universe and probably stay there for the foreseeable future. Hope you enjoy it.
I opened my eyes to pure darkness. I couldn't see my hands, did I even have hands. As far as my eye could see there was nothing. No stars, no light, not a hint of where I could be?
As I continued to float around trying to get my bearings, I noticed the complete lack of sound. I tried clicking my fingers; but nothing. Do I have fingers? I felt like I was moving them but as far as I could see they weren't there, and no matter how much I waved them about they just wouldn't come anywhere close to my body. But that wasn't the worst part. The silence was like the calm before the storm. I could feel something looming in the background. My neck prickled and the feeling that I was not alone reverberated through my very soul.
Hours passed with nothing happening. Or was it days, or even years. Why am I here? Why must I suffer like this?
"Why"? I scream, wanting to know nothing more than why I've been sent to this hell hole of nothingness.
"Why"? I scream again, this time starting to lose hope.
"Why"? I murmur. All hope is gone. I'm stuck here until the end of time.
So you've finally been broken.
"Who are you? Why am I here? What happened to me?" I ask in a desperate voice, clinging to the hope that this torment will end.
You died. But more importantly, you've been broken.
"Been broken? What does that even mean?" I question in a surprisingly calm manner.
You've finally accepted that this is what lies beyond the veil of death. Nothing.
"So Heaven? Hell? None of it's real?" I wondered, being glad that no god or godlike being had decided to take it out on me for not believing in them.
It is. But that's not truly death. True death lies beyond the concepts brought into existence by the power of belief.
"So this is my life then?" I ponder. This absolute hell. Hell even hell sounds better than this. At least with pain I get to feel something. Anything.
That's not what I said. But I guess if you want to stay here?
"NO!"
Well listen up then. Based on your actions during your life a god or godlike being who shall remain unnamed took a liking to you and decided to let you skip past being stuck in purgatory where you belong for not being good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell. They decided to give you a second chance provided you pass one simple test.
Avoid being broken for the first 10 seconds of your visit to the void.
"That was 10 seconds?" I enquired.
No. You passed with flying colours. You made it 20 seconds before the void broke you.
Welcome to the Game. A system set up by the gods of this universe for their recruitment and entertainment. You've caught the eye of one of the higher ups so you get to skip the usual lottery system and you automatically qualify so long as you meet the criteria.
Please choose a class.
[Wizard] [Fighter] [Rogue]
Okay so my life is a game. Wizard is the obvious choice, and while magic sounds cool and all, it's just not me. I'm not a wizard. So fighter or rogue. I guess I'm more of a fighter. I've always been tall and muscular and I've often gotten into drunken brawls. But there's something that does appeal to me about being the sneaky type. I have no clue where I'll be going or who I'll meet so the ability to blend in is perfect. Being big and strong on the other hand could be the easiest way to get myself killed.
+1 wisdom for thinking through your class.
Choose a rogue subclass.
[Assassin] [Thief] [Arcane trickster]
Well I already don't want to be a caster. Well maybe I'll pick up some casting in the future for utility but not for now. I guess Assassin would be useful to pick enemies off. But I have no clue how powerful I'll be so I guess I shouldn't. Going on a murder spree is another potentially fast way to die. Thief then.
+1 wisdom for thinking through your subclass.
Hmm I wonder how good my stats are.
Name: Undecided
Race: Undecided
Class: Rogue Thief
Level: 1
EXP: 0
HP: 120
SP: 120
MP: 120
Dex: 11
Str: 10
End: 10
Con: 10
Int: 10
Wis: 10
Cha: 11
Lck: 10
Unspent Points: 1
Okay so generic stats. I'm guessing rogue thief gave me the point in Dex and the point in Cha. What to do with the spare point. I guess Str would help. No, I'm not trying to look any bigger or scarier than I am right now. I don't know where I'm going. I'll save it and use it for something that'll help once my feet are on the ground wherever it is that I'm going.
Based upon the way you lived your life your patron has picked these 5 options for your new world.
[Star Wars] [One Punch Man] [High School DxD] [Harry Potter] [Warhammer 40,000]
Well Warhammer is straight out of the cards. I don't have a death wish. So's High School DxD and One Punch Man. And Star Wars is either way too political and back-stabby for me or way too hard to be aJedi depending on the era. And who wants to be in Star Wars and not be a Jedi. I guess I'll be going to the Wizarding World then since the power ceiling is the lowest.
You have 500 points to spend on customising your world and your character for this world.
Race:
[Muggle: Free] [Squib: 10] [Wizard: 100]
Well that's the easiest decision ever then. I obviously want to be a wizard.
Background:
[Muggle-born: free] [Half-Blood: 20] [Pure blood: 50]
[Heir to an ancient and noble house: 100]
I don't want to be bullied by other students for being a Muggle-born or half-blood but I don't want to deal with the politics of being an heir to an ancient and noble house so I'll be a Pure-blood.
Accomodation:
[Homeless: free] [Council housing: 10] [Studio: 25] [Small flat: 50]
[Large flat: 100] [Mansion: 250]
Well I'm not living on the streets or in a council house and i prefer to keep a separate bedroom but beyond that i'm flexible so a small flat it is.
Magical affinity:
[Weak: free] [Medium: 10] [Strong: 50] [prodigy: 100]
Well that's an easy decision if ever I saw one. There's no way I'm going to be anything but a prodigy, regardless of what I said about magic earlier.
Perks:
[Parseltongue: 50] [Eidetic Memory: 100] [Forgettable face: 50] [Silent footsteps: 50] [forgettable face: 25] [Ambidextrous: 20]
Eidetic memory, silent footsteps and ambidextrous are all incredibly useful and fit into my budget perfectly. Shame I don't get to spend the last 30 points though.
Pick which book you'll start in
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Definitely book 4. The first three are boring but I want to win the Triwizard Tournament.
Pick which school year you'll be in:
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Do I want to be in the same year as Harry and his friends? It would be nice but I don't want to be stuck under dumble's watchful eyes for any longer than necessary and also I really don't need that much education on how to wave a wand. I'm The Gamer.
Pick the age shift of the characters:
[0: Free] [+/-X: X0]
Well I guess I'll make all of the students 3 years older then. Not much benefit but it'll be pretty nice having all of the students actually being somewhat mature rather than being whiny little bitches and I'm pretty sure I don't get to keep the points.
Choose your name.
[ ]
Ooh I've always wanted to choose my own name. I think I'll call myself Galahad since it makes me sound like an old fashioned knight. Like Galahad of the round table.
Character creation complete.
Transporting you to your new home.
AN: Thanks for reading the first chapter of my first ever story. I hope you all enjoyed it and I wish you all a good day.
