Chapter 7 Potter Manor and Harry's birthday
The cleaning at Grimmauld place until it was almost in peak order there were still a few little things that they wanted to fix like the picture of Sirius's mother on the wall and trying to get that to stay quiet. They tried but to no avail so they would just have to listen to the screaming portrait. James, and Lily liked cleaning the house up though because they were able to talk to Harry in this time and also get caught up with what had happened in the past fourteen years. They were especially excited though for Harry's birthday that was fast approaching they hadn't gotten him a birthday present yet as they weren't quite sure what he would want but, they had a big surprise for him on his birthday. When they had finally finished cleaning the house to Molly's liking it was just a day before Harry's birthday, so the next thing was setting up for Harry's surprise birthday party without him knowing. James and Lily had left with Sirius for the day but with Sirius as Snuffles so no one would recognize him. They needed to go gift shopping for Harry and since Sirius knew Harry better then James and Lily at the moment, they felt it was a benefit that he was coming with them.
Harry was taking the day from not cleaning hanging out around Hermione, and Ron just really catching up with them. They hadn't really talked much since he got to Grimmauld place as he was spending with his parents. He was really grateful for his friends understanding that he wanted to spend more time with his parents then them. Harry and Ron were excited to start the new year off but, Hermione kept reminding them that this was an O.W. L's year and that they would have to take their studies seriously this year. For now. though all Harry, Ron, and Hermione could do was relax until the school year started.
James and Lily woke up early the next they wanted to make Harry's birthday extra special today as it was only the second birthday that Harry was going to have with them and the first one, he would probably remember. They went down to the kitchen to cook breakfast for Harry, and they would serve it to him in bed. They started to cook it wasn't a long process as they decided that they would make him waffles with strawberries ice cream and whipped cream. Lily made the batter while James was cutting up the strawberries and cooking the waffles. James and Lily would've felt bad if they had only made some for Harry, so they cooked enough waffles for everyone. To James and Lily this was perfect though they always wanted to have a big family together and cooking for the entire household felt like they had a big family. James and Lily had finished making breakfast for everyone at about eight the adults were already up and eating breakfast thanking James and Lily for breakfast. James and Lily were now putting the finishing touches on Harry's birthday breakfast putting the cherry on top of the whipped cream and walked up to his room.
"Happy birthday Harry!" They screamed as they opened the door.
Harry woke up surprised to see his parents holding a tray with pumpkin juice and waffles and ice cream. Harry had never before gotten breakfast in bed before he was wondering what he did to deserve this.
"So, son how does it feel to be fifteen?" James asked
"Oh, I totally forgot today was my birthday." Harry responded
"Well, dear today it is our mission to make it the best birthday for you." Lily told him.
"Now eat up and once you finish your breakfast, we have more surprises for you." James said as they were leaving his room.
"Ron there is also breakfast for you downstairs." Lily said as Ron had stirred from James and Lily in the room.
"Thank you, Mrs. Potter," Ron responded. "Happy birthday Harry!"
"Thanks Ron. Did this ever happen to you on your birthday having breakfast in bed?" Harry asked.
"No but, I would get other things on my birthday my parents would always make sure it would be special though." Ron responded.
Harry never knew what it was like to be treated like this on his birthday the best that he ever got on his birthday was a pair of old socks if he was lucky.
Harry had finished his breakfast and went down with Ron to take the dish to the sink and so Ron could have breakfast.
"How was your birthday breakfast?" James asked.
"It was great Dad thank you." Harry responded.
"Well, we have more surprises for you so go get changed." Lily said.
Harry bounced up the stairs excited to see what else his parents had planned for him today.
"Harry happy birthday!" Sirius said when he saw him.
"Thanks Sirius." Harry responded
"Today you and your friends get to start the day with Remus and I." Sirius said.
"But how are you going to come along?" Harry asked.
"I'll go under the disguise of Polyjuice potion." Sirius answered.
Hermione and Ron got dressed as Remus arrived so that they could get going to where Remus and Sirius were taking him.
"Where are we going?" Ron asked.
"It's a surprise but, trust me you'll enjoy it," Remus responded.
"All of you have taken a port key before, right?" Sirius asked they all nodded their heads as they hung on.
"We're here." Sirius announced.
"Where are we Sirius?" Harry asked.
"We are in New York City." Sirius responded.
"We better hurry or we're going to miss the show Sirius," Remus said.
They walked down a couple more blocks until they were in front of a theatre. When they got in there was a stage and a pull-down screen and it started playing. They were watching some old show and Harry really didn't understand why until the host announced.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beatles." Ed Sullivan announced.
Harry understood now why they were watching this show. They listened to the selections that The Beatles played. The songs were All My Loving, Till There Was You, She Loves You, I Saw Her Standing There, and I Want To Hold Your Hand.
"Why did you bring us to New York when we probably could've watched it in London?" Harry asked when the show concluded.
"Harry look around this us the theatre that this show was filmed in." Sirius said.
Hermione screamed as she realized it was and dragged Ron to the stage to explore the behind the scenes of the theatre.
"This is also the site of your parent's first date." Remus added in.
Harry himself went on to the stage and explored it imagining his parents being here on their first date. To Harry this was so cool as he was not only in the place where his parents had their first date but, also where an important piece of history was made. They finished up exploring the theatre and went to a restaurant for lunch. Even though it was only about 7 in New York they were able to still get some lunch food by the time they finished they took the port key back to London and just outside Grimmauld place where James and Lily were waiting.
"How was it?" Lily asked.
"I loved it Mum." Harry responded.
"Ready for our surprise?" James asked.
"Yes. Thanks, Sirius, for the awesome time." Harry said as Sirius, Remus, Hermione, and Ron went back inside.
"Your welcome Harry." Sirius responded.
"Are you ready to go?" Lily asked.
"Yes." Harry responded.
"Hold on to my arm." James said as Harry took his arm and they apparated away.
Harry took a bit to recover as it was the first time that he had apparated and when his vision cam back to clear he was standing outside a huge mansion.
"Welcome to Potter Manor." James announced.
Harry had his jaw drop he never knew how rich his family was the fact that they had a manor was shocking to him.
They entered the house it was quite a site the main floor was huge complete with a ball room and a giant backyard. They went up to the second floor where there were multiple rooms more then he could count. James went into the first room to his left and opened the door.
"Harry this is your room." James said.
The room was huge it was about as big as one of the dorm rooms at Hogwarts. He couldn't believe it.
"You can decorate it anyway you want" Lily added.
"And we have some elves who want to meet you." James said "Percy, Daphne."
"Yes, Master James." Percy said as he and Daphne apparated in the room.
"This is our son Harry and I want you to help him decorate his room in anyway he wants to." James told the house elves.
"Yes sir." Daphne responded. "Master Harry we have waited for your arrival it is an honour to meet you."
"We were most delighted when Master James and Lily told us that they had a son, and we would meet him soon." Percy added.
"It's so good to meet you Percy and Daphne." Harry responded.
They got to work on his room as James and Lily left them to it. Harry really liked the house elves they were really fun to be around. They started designing the room by Harry drawing what he wanted to have his room look like and they spent the entire afternoon designing his room.
While Harry was designing his room James and Lily were in the master bedroom doing some cleaning as it hadn't been used since James's parents had used it. They had used James's bedroom while they were at the Manor but, now that they were going to live there, they decided that they should move into the master bedroom and the fact that Harry was getting James's old room.
It had been a good four hours since they got to the Manor when James and Lily had finally finished cleaning out the master bedroom. They went to go check on Harry to see how his room was coming along. They entered Harry's room and saw that they were nearly done, and Harry had totally made over the room. There was a lot more room and less furniture in the room, but it still had a cozy feeling.
"How do you like it?" Harry asked.
"You did a really nice job with the room Harry." Lily responded.
"Are you ready to go?" James asked.
Harry nodded as they went outside the manor to apparate back to Grimmauld place for Harry's birthday party.
"Happy birthday Harry!" Everyone screamed as he entered the room.
Grimmauld place was set up for Harry's birthday party there was all his favourite foods were set up all his friends were there. It was at this moment Harry thought that life couldn't be better at this moment he had everything he ever wanted.
