A Felwinter tale

Chapter 2: Meeting the locals

World: Hyrule

Location: Kokiri forest

Clock: 07:24 AM

Well this is boring.

As I lied there on the bed for past two days recovering from my ordeal with that shitty Invader, thankfuly I used the time I have lying about looking up more info about the gamer powers, what we can do with it and cannot do, etc. Just to pass time and learn anything that could be helpful to me, especially if I'm going to survive the next invasion by that asshole.

Why am I feeling so grumpy right about now?

Simple!

Like a day after i woke up and greeted by Saria, the sweet girl who found me and healed me up, I used the time I had before my exhaustion finally took a toll on me to look up more about players invading other players and well... Turns out, when beginning as a new Gamer you don't get to choose who you invade as it is random so you would have no frickin clue what your opponent could be, what their levels and powers are. It's a big bloody mystery until you fight them.

And well... Those who are above level hundred actually get to choose WHICH world and WHICH player they get to invade, including low leveled gamers like myself for sport. Meaning there are hundreds of people like Derek, chosing to invade other poor low leveled gamers with no way of defending themself and forced to be repeatedly killed by these motherfuckers for sport and fun!

Granted I immediately looked into rules and guidelines considering this is nothing more than straight up bullying, but sadly there doesn't seem to be any rules against invading low leveled players who aren't like lvl 5823 like themself!

In other words, these are the people that takes pleasure of torturing not only me but also anyone else who started out after their first reincarnation and THIS is their first impression! Way to go who ever the FFFFFFFuck makes up the rules or allowing shitty assholes exploit this game mode!

I sighed once again, somewhat dejected that there are so many toxic people with the power of gamer abusing their powers to torment others for their own amusement without a care... Which apparently something i'm familiar with as this sort of feeling I have right now pretty much tells me that I experienced this crap so many times before, likely from some game so... Yeah.

But either way, it wasn't the only thing I've been doing while in bed looking up crap in the help menu. I got to not only talk to Saria but few other Kokiri's as well, mostly girls who was curious and wanted to see the real life 'Keaton', whatever that is. So far Saria is actually a rather sweet girl, patient and kind, she's been looking after my well being ever since I woke up and at first it was sorta awkward to talk to each other.

Mostly because i had no frickin clue what to say since I have no knowledge of this world but thankfully she didn't press for anything about where I came from other than asking me who beat me up so that she will have a stern talking to.

...I getting the feeling this girl will try kick that giant armoured banana's ass for invading our world.

Either way, it's not my concern as I learned more about invasion is that if you're a high level asshole invading a very, VERY low leveled gamer you're literally forced to wait a whole week until you're allowed to invade them again. So far that's a fair and unfairness at the same time in order to punish people like that for harassing people weaker than them for sport.

I sighed once more, just tired and irritated that this have to be this way but what can you do? Not only that but I only have few days left before my title expires and the early EXP bonus vanish before I could even gain some levels. But Saria did say I'm allowed to move around again after another day rest in bed just in case as she don't want to take chances until i'm fully healed.

As much I want to go, she's sort of right.

In games as some memories of how they work started to come back to me tells me that when recovering in bed you'll be automatically fully healed and well... It's been like three days and i'm still feeling like shit, but less today as I can almost move around freely.

I guess that's their version of telling us to not get a little bit TOO arrogant thinking we're invincible just because we have the Gamer power.

Well I can at least respect that, teaches some of the jerks that thinking their actions won't have consequences is a fine way to teach them a lesson in humility and agonizing death of literally saying "Don't be an ass and think you're some hot shit or else you will die thousand times!" is certainly a good message to give.

...

...

...

"Screw it." I mutter to myself as I cast the blankets off me as the sensation of lying in bed too long is finally getting to my nerves. I seriously need to stretch my legs and arms... And probably the rest of my body.

I look at my health and it's nearly fully healed, so a walk and getting to know the locals should be a good start to understand more about the lands I was reborn in. So far i only know that i'm in the Lost woods and apparently it is cursed to those who get lost in the woods to turn into monsters... Lovely. I'm so glad being a Vexend i'm practically immune against dark curses, otherwise i would literally been turned into something called Stalchild or whatever that is that Saria mentioned.

Hopefully I don't come across that asshole Mido during my walk... Oh yeah, forgot to mention but the day after I talked with Saria for the first time some Kokiri with some serious need of facial reconstruction because by the Darkness how the hell can he show his ugly mug around with those ass cheeks for a face!? Not to mention he smells like an ass too! curses my vulpine nose! came in Saria's house and began demanding bunch of answers of where i came from and what I intent to do the kokiri forest and the Deku.

Ugh i remember that I got a killing headache from his shouting and Saria giving him the boot out of her home for disturbing me, although she did tell me to ignore him whenever he tries to muscle around and honestly it shouldn't be too hard... Just shot a Shard Javelin by his head and it should give him a message to not mess with me.

He gives me the impression of someone trying too hard to be tough but is literally too weak and unintimidating to be taken seriously.

Looking over myself to see most of the bandages Saria put on me are mostly gone with few here and there to cover some of the bruises that have yet to heal, shrugged then proceed to walk out of the tree house, yes I kid you not, and took in the sight of kokiri village for the first time ever since i woke up days ago. All i can say it's breath takingly beautiful with flora giving the place a colorful look, more of those sparkly magic bugs flying about and the atmosphere of the place feels so peacuful that you kinda forget we're in the middle of a cursed forest.

I was rather taken aback by how peaceful and beautiful this place looks I almost didn't hear a small gasp to my left.

"Aura! why are you out of the bed?" looking to my left I see Saria who looked to have been trimming the garden of bushes, looking at me with worry and frowns a little. Shrugs I just replies "Sorry, got stir crazy sitting around and do nothing. Besides I'm almost healed up and need to move my body a little." Saria sighs as she stands up.

"I know, but I worry if you'll hurt yourself."

"It's fine, really!" I waved her off. She didn't seems convinced but sighed as she dusted the dirt from her green clothes. "Still.." She mutters "Just be careful, don't over do anything when your body is still healing, alright?"

"Whatever you say mom" I jokingly snarked with a smirk, which earns a pout from here but we both just giggles.

"hehe, jokes aside" Saria said "Since you're ok to move around, the Deku tree wishes to meet with you." Ah right... The Deku tree.

Not gonna lie, when I first heard of who is running the kokiri forest I was sorta skeptical of a giant ass tree that can talk and has a face and a mustache. Though it would be dope but still, i know magic exist and all since i'm literally capable of throwing ice balls at people but a talking frickin tree is a stretch.

Of course I kept that to myself as I didn't want to come off as rude, but still.

"Sure, where is this... The great Deku tree?" I asked, might as well get this over with.

"The great Deku tree is located right over there, just follow the path and don't deviate and you should be fine." Saria pointed toward what looks like an open path corridor, just couple of meters away from where we are with a pond with dirt platforms standing between us and the entrance.

"Thanks, i'll go and see what he wants~" With that I waved a goodbye for now to Saria and walked toward where the entrance was.

While I was slowly walking toward the entrance to the Great Deku Tree, something caught my attention as another Kokiri looking girl stomps out angrily from what I could only guess a shop of some kind, little bit away from where I am. For some reason this little elf girl catches my attention as I could feel there was something different about her.

Other than her strange light blue long wavy hair, green eyes and pointed ears along with her clothes being a green dress with no sleeves. She has this grumpy expression on her face, like she's angry at something...

Suddenly the Kokiri girl glances toward my directions and it was at that moment we made eye contacts and what I saw in her green eyes surprised me a little as she has something that most Kokiri elves don't seem to have.

Slitted cat like eyes... Similar to mine but more narrower.

But just by these two seconds of eye contact her expression changes to surprise and wonder as she stares at me, like she's not sure what I am and yet curious but wary at the same time.

I broke the stare as I continue my way toward the pond with couple ground platforms here and there.

Crossing the pond was no problem as I carefully jumped on platform from platform as I reach the other side, despite wincing a bit at faint pain in my body. But before I could even go inside the maze like dirt walls-

"Hey you!"

-A familiar annoying voice stops me in track as I let out a frustrated sigh as I turn my head to see one of the annoying Kokiri that seems to think i'm a threat to them. A familiar green clothed elf like kid with a fucked up face stomps over to me, appearing out of friggin nowhere as he exclaims.

"Where do you think are going!?" Mido's shrill screeching voice causes me to wince at the volume he's shouting at "Who do you think you are, to go and meet the Great Deku tree? Who gave you permission to-"

"Saria did, and she did say the Great Deku tree wanted to meet me." I interrupted his mid sentence, clearly annoyed.

That of course set him off "Whaaaat!?" He exclaims and begin to stomp his feet in anger "Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Why the heck are you so popular that not only Saria likes you but even the Deku tree want to you as well!? You're just like that stupid, mean outsider you stupid fox!" Can you please stop screaming you angry potato!

Also Outsider? the heck is he talking about?

"Considering the Great deku tree runs this place, it's kind of obvious that he want to meet me and make sure i'm not a threat to this village." I stated matter of factly, which makes sense if the person running a village want to make sure the newcomer isn't a threat to the safety of the people.

"Well then, if that is the case-" He then stomps past me and now stands me in my way "I won't let you through!"

...

...

...

CREEEAAAAAACK!

I just irritatedly walked past a frozen Mido whom stood there like a frozen statue, after I threw both my hands up and carefully to control my mana to only freeze him and not outright kill him.

A blast of misty ice exploded from my body and froze him into a block of ice.

Di~ng!

[Frost Nova spell was created!]

Oh wow, my frustration at this idiot actually helped me creating a spell... A part of me is telling not to use this arrogant brat as a test subject to gain faster spells but it is also morally wrong too.

Either way, I shake my head as I continue on walking through this wide narrow corridor of dirt walls with grass and trees on top before I reach the end. Stepping out of the corridor I was greeted by a wide open area and in front of me stood a huge frickin tree that I ever seen in my entire new life!

Not only that but it also has a face too!

A nose, mustache and thick eyebrow that makes this tree look like an old man!

I merely stood there completely shocked that something like this exist right before me, as the giant tree yawns as it looks down at me and smiles.

"My, my~" It spoke, it's voice rumbles with a gentle tone to it "It's been quite a while since I seen one of thou kind in this world, young Vexend... Especially one who has been granted a new life by the Grim father and blessed by Testla with his concept of power too~"

I froze in shock when I heard it not only speak but the fact it knows i've been reincarnated and apparently knows about the Gamer power as well.

What!?

"Do not be so surprised little one" The great Deku tree chuckles "I've lived for many, many centuries. I've seen things and even met stranger things that would seem out of the world, so thou aren't the first visitor that I have the pleasure to meet. Though I am curious as to how and why thou entered this world, i'm feeling thou did not do so by choice did yee?"

I shook my head no and cleared my throat and began to speak.

"No i did not, when I was given a second chance for a new start of my life, I wasn't given a choice where or which world I would appear... Nor did they even tell me that I would reincarnate as a child instead of the body of a young adult." I explaind, no reason to lie to this giant talking tree whom knows about the Gamer power.

Something that I've been wondering about...

Am I allowed to talk about the Gamer power to people? At least to people who doesn't know the concept and knowledge of that power?

[No.]

Ah... Alright then.

"Hmm, I see..." The great deku tree hum "Well since you're now here, what is thou goal young Felwinter?"

"My goal? well other than train and get strong enough to protect myself from monsters and even other players who decides to attack me for sport, I do believe I want to explore the world and learn everything I can." I'm not lying either, I wanna know everything this world has to offer as I'm very curious of the lore, landscape and spells that exist here.

"Ah, so thou wish to be a Scholar then? Quite a noble goal indeed, I'll say."

"Right, so..." I paused for a second to think of a good question "What would become of me now? Am I forced to leave once i'm all healed up?"

"That is thou own choice to make Young Felwinter, for now me and my childrens of the forest can provide you shelter from the dangers of the outside world... Well more than usual, as thou have noticed the residence in lost woods."

"right the Wolfos and Deku scrubs..." I mutters.

"But if thou are in need of shelter and training, I can help provide you some basic Nature spells and sword technique, if thou wishes to learn them." I blinked in surprised, not expecting this sort of generosity that I can't help but question him "Why? I mean i'm quite grateful that you allow me to stay and learn but i'm a complete stranger in these lands, so why?"

"Believe it or not, the Vexend are just as part of the Nature as thou kind not only respect and revere it, but also guards it from being mindlessly destroyed by those with greed in their hearts and understand the cycle." Then the Great Deku Tree chuckles "Of course, i'm quite amused by thou's way of handling poor Mido, though do be careful when using thine spells, i rather not have my childrens be scarred or hurt too badly if they become too mischievous."

"I see... Thank you, I'll promise to not cause too much problems around!" I thanked the great tree, thankful and grateful that I have a place to stay and learn more of my powers.

Not only that but Nature magic as well!

After that important conversation, me and the Deku tree talked about me living in the forest and agreed that I continue to live in Saria's house while also learn a bit more magic from the Deku Tree. Mostly healing and protection as both a sign of trust and how frickin important they are at my current level.

Needless to say, I won't mind living here for quite a while~

Five days later...

I yawned as I stepped out from Saria's house as the morning sun started to rise.

Stretching my body to get some of the kinks in place of my bones, I began to think back those fives days living here and well they were pretty great!

Not only did I get to live under a roof but allowed to learn some spells as well, Regrowth and Thorn armour, The Regrowth is a healing spell that heals my body over time far more quicker than healing naturally and while the Thorn armour does exactly what it does; Create a wooden armour around my body with sharp spiked thorns protecting me.

Looking at my spell slots I have five of them now, meaning I almost completed the quest as I only need to learn one more channeling magic and it should be good to go.

Oh yeah I also learned Meditation as it's honestly not much of a passive channeling spell more like learning how to channel and learn how to manage the Aether both within and around me.

The process was kind of slow at start but with the help from Saria and the Great deku tree, along with some other Kokiri who knows how to channel magic I manage to get this down.

Speaking of kokiri, the others are very quite welcoming and nice... Beside Mido who seems way too jealous and always trying to act like he's the boss around the place. But then there is that Blue haired elf girl.

I'm not sure why but I haven't seen her much around these past five days nor even heard the others talk about her that much either.

Is she an outcast or something? Or is she like me, an outsider given a place to live until we decide to leave? Well either way, it's not really my concern if she wishes to be alone.

However, learning new spells and channeling wasn't the only thing i did for five days. I also went with Saria and few other Kokiri to gather and hunt food, mostly berries and fruit in the lost woods while fighting against Mad Deku scrubs and Wolfos. Using my temporarily title and the time I had, I did my best to gain enough experience to level up before it expires and well, I did level up along with two of my spells but it wasn't much as I liked.

mentally commanding to show me my stats the screen pops up and I looked at it with both pleased and annoyed feelings.

Frost Nova Level 1

Regrowth Level 1

Thorn Armour Level 1

I'm quite pleased to see that i'm now slightly stronger than what I once was, yet at the same time annoyed due to the Debuff I got all because i'm a kid, all of my slain enemies gives me like half of their EXP instead fully... Which might explain why i'm only level 4 instead of six or seven.

Plus now that both my Frost bolt and javelin Shard are a level higher, the mana cost is a bit high too but the damage output is much, MUCH more better because holy crap I can literally now one shot Wolfos with no problems now!

Also, during these five days I actually went around the lost woods looking for more bodies to bury. As it turns out, some years ago there was a war outside the forest and many of the soldiers and civilians tried to flee through the Lost woods but sadly none of them didn't make it.

So after talking with the Great Deku tree and getting some help from Saria we went to look for the remains of the unfortunate souls and given them a proper burial, either through digging a grave or putting their corpses on pyre and bury their ashes into the ground so that something new will grow from them.

Looking at my quest of how many I have laid to rest I only need four more to give respect for the dead and I should be given something nice by the Grim reaper.

Though how exactly I don't know, if what I know about them is that you kinda need to be dead in order to see them as they're the one who're supposed to guide you to the afterlife after judging you for any evil or good deeds you done in life.

I dismissed the status screen and looked around the village.

So far it looks like only few kokiri are awake and walking about, didn't see Saria in the house either so she must have went to her favorite spot again to play that Ocarina of hers.

Oh yeah, turns out it was Saria I heard back then before I got invaded. Turns out she likes to sit on that stump that lies next to that high level dungeon and play her ocarina. I did ask her why she goes over there to play due to the obvious dangers and she simply replied with a shrug and said that she didn't know.

Like, she has this strange feeling whenever she's there. Like she feel a connection to it.

I'm not sure what exactly she means or wondering if she's reincarnated like I am and her past self may actually recognize that place. But decided to not get too interested just yet, especially considering the damn place is 30 levels higher than what I am.

So instead i went with training, reading and learning more about the lands of Hyrule and well... It's a lot.

From what i gathered, the lands are inhabited by several races. First you got Hylians, the pointy eared humans that is said to have their ears pointed to listen to the goddess or something. Then we got Gorons and they're practically rock people eating rock...Rockception!

Then we have the Fish people known as the Zora, then we got Gerudo's and they're all female race that seeks out males outside their tribal community and lastly the Kokiri; the forest childrens that doesn't grow or ages.

So yes, apparently i'm surrounded by bunch of dwarves that could be hundreds of years old, even Mido who acts more like a manchild than someone who is supposed to be centuries older than I am.

Shaking my head I went to look at my quest objectives and nothing seems to have changed other than that I now have fulfilled the spells slots and found another channeling. Rupee's are in good supply so i'm not broke yet, so that leaves finding either another way of channeling or continue to wander around the lost woods and fight and collect stuff.

Speaking of that, the same fucking Invader attacked me again once the whole week has gone by and wow I ran fast as possible back to the Kokiri forest and manage to loose him before he even manage to come into this world fully.

Man I bet he must be pissed~

However a day after Derek tried to invade my world, another Player decided to invade and almost succeeded to kick my ass in. A level 132 Eldritch witch alien woman thing that I honestly have no idea what the actual fuck I was looking at, only that my priority was to get the fuck back to the village and avoid her eldritch blast and horrifying minions chasing after me.

...Yeah, I was a shaken mess after manage to escape that certain death because holy shit that was far too close for comfort!

Glancing around again to see it's mostly me and few Kokiri seemingly up this early, might as well go over to the shop house and see if that weird cheek guy is selling for breakfast...Hopefully something with meat because i'm getting tired of berries and fruits.

On my way there, I catch the glimps of that blue haired elf girl that I saw several days ago wander around seemingly groggy.

Guess she's not a morning person...

I'll admit i'm not sure why I have this weird feeling that there is more to that Kokiri girl than meets the eye, but i'm far too hungry to care at this moment so I didn't waste my time using observe on her.

Once reach and enter the shop tree, the smell of cooked fruit and berries reach my nose and while it smells pretty good, I can't help but inwardly groan that yet once again eating fruits and berries once again.

Seriously do these people not eat meat or something!?

Either way I paid the cooked apples and pears, along with some edible berries and had my breakfast and left the building grumbling of the lack of meat... At this rate I might literally going to be shitting bricks if this continues.

But on my way out of the building, I see several kokiri running toward something, they look both surprised and fearful of something.

Glancing toward where they were going I was surprised to see they were crowing around someone that should be in fact be inside the lost woods. So I also ran toward the growing crowd and sees Saria craddling a very badly injured Deku Scrub.

Except instead of the red and orange leafed Deku scrubs that attacks anyone in sight, this one has green leaf for hair instead and boy it looked fucked up with a lot of bruises and yellowish sap like blood coming out of the cuts.

"What happened?" One of the Kokiri exclaimed in confusion seeing the injured Deku Scrub.

"I...I don't know." Saria admitted "I found him just outside the entrance to the Lost woods an-"

"Dread...Lead..."

Everyone quiet down as the Deku Scrub whimpered, trying to speak up as it moves it hole like mouth.

"Dreadleaf... Dreadleaf attack... Everyone... Coming... For the Great Deku tree..."

At the mere mention of this Dreadleaf attacking everyone and now is coming for the Great Deku tree, all of the kokiri gasp in fear and surprise.

Soon it devolves to everyone trying to talk and figure out how to deal with this new threat that arisen. While I stood far behind the crowd after listening to this injured tree guy warning us of this Dreadleaf.

My mind went immediately to conclude that whoever this Dreadleaf is, is either a corrupt Deku scrub or something else forest related.

Seeing now that everyone is either far too panic stricken to make a better decision to like, ya know? go to the fucking Deku tree and seek his wisdom to deal with this new threat. Me on the other hand, decide that a quick form of action is going to be needed to deal with this Dreadleaf... Or at very least getting some ideas what we're dealing with.

So sneakily and quietly I walked away from the crowd and head toward the entrance to the Lost woods, climbing up the vines and enter the large log like tunnel and enter the very forest that birthed me.

One way or another, i'm going to repay these people's kindness and do my best to protect them from this new threat.

World: Hyrule

Location: Lost woods

Di~ng!

[New quest Objective have been found!]

Quest: Defeat Dreadleaf!

A new threat have suddenly appeared and threatens all who lives within the Lost woods, find this Dreadleaf and save both the Lost woods and the Kokiri forest!

Reward: 100 Rupee, 400 EXP, New outfit.

After I exited the tunnel and dismissed the screen, immediately I was assaulted by a dark, twisted feeling of just how wrong the forest has become.

Like something just have poisoned the very calming aura the Lost woods once had and now it was utterly silent and the sheer sense of evil forebording of wrong... Not to mention there was no animals or birds howling or chirping, no music or any of those glowing dust balls that used to fly around the area.

It's all silent...

Glancing down, I see specks of sap like blood on the ground, likely from that Injured Deku Scrub and decided to follow the trail after using Thorn Armour spell on myself.

After a while following the trail while keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary or ambushes, it wasn't long that I came across dead bodies of wild animals and even Deku scrubs lying on the forest ground; Unmoving.

I kept on walking, following the trail of destruction and death whoever this Dreadleaf left behind as my anger at this senseless death kept on increasing.

By then, soon it was the enviroment that are now badly damage as there are trees broken to pieces and the walls and dirt ground small craters. So following the sign of destruction cautiously I soon stumbled upon a wide area, almost large as the Great Deku trees reside at. On the middle was a large purple sinister looking flower along with smaller ones left and right.

Couple of over turned tree logs and rocks jutting out of the ground and behind the giant flower seems to be another pathway with over turned trees and rocks with hanging vines from the upper trees.

As I stepped forward couple of steps, ready to attack with my magic-

Creak~!

-Immediately turn around to see several thorn like roots grows out of the ground and blocks my exit out of this area and I turn around to face the giant flower to see it was moving side to side, like something is trying to come out of it.

Then purple like sickly water erupted from the flower and out came what I could only describe a corrupted Deku scrub with arms. The entire tree like skin was grey, almost like it was decaying with green sickly looking veins, the plantage on its head was dull green like the leaves lost their life and just hanging on like a dead corpse.

It's eyes glowing sickly green glow as it's mouth doesn't look like most of the Deku scrubs I seen but a jagged teeth like bark instead that was grinning sinisterly at me.

...Did I also forget to mention it was five times bigger than I was!?

"KEHKEkeEKekEKHEHahAH!" It's distorted laughter echoes around the area as it raises its arms and more thorn like roots came out of the ground near it, acting like arms and whips as they moved.

Rotting Greater Deku Scrub

(Insert boss music)

[Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate OST: Jungle Battle Theme 密林戦闘BGM]

"KREHEHEHEAHAHA! DIE! DIE! DIIIEEEEEE!" Dreadleaf roars as it waves its arms at me and the roots whipped toward me.

Dodging to the side as they crashed into the ground I fired several Frost bolts at dreadleaf whom took the first hit before it ducked inside the flower as the others shots flew past him. I quickly sprinted away from the roots as they lifted up from the ground as they prepared to strike down against me again.

Then I saw Dreadleaf poke his head from one of the other flowers and I used my chance to observe him.

Thoughts of you: [ERROR!]

Description: %¤/!?%?!)/¤![DATA CORRUPTED!]

What the fuck!?

What's wrong with the last two!?

"WHOA!?" I yelped as I dodged another whip attack from the roots, nearly took my head off as it was far too dangerously close for comfort!

I glance to the Dreadleaf to see him rise from one of the three giant flowers and his cheeks began to bulge and-SPITING ACIDS AT ME!?

"WHOA, WHOA! NO NO FUCK YOU!" I began to curse loudly as I dash and jump to avoid the Acids as they hit the ground. I fired more Frost bolts at him and the few first shot manage to hit him again before he ducks down.

Looking at his health and sees it doesn't go down much as I hoped it would, if I try to fire a javelin shard at him it will take like two to three seconds to form and aim at him... Something that I do not have time as his roots vines keeps slashing at me!

Looking at the whipping root thorns, I need to find a way to cut them off as they're the one mostly keeping me distracted while that rotting Deku Scrub keeps lobbing acids at me!

Wait, I have an idea!

I stopped in my tracks and faced the Whipping roots as they now reared back to slam against me, I glare at it as they now shot forward and in last second I side stepped and aimed both my hands toward them and used Frost nova.

Burst of misty ice exploded out of me as the ice now coated the roots, incasing them inside a large block of ice as all four Roots are now trapped and are trying to lift themself up.

I whip around to face Dreadleaf as he sneers at me for taking away one of his means of attack. He then ducks down again and this time I prepare my javelin shard as I glance left and right to see which damn flower he's going to pop out and sure enough, he popped out from the right the purple flower was shaking and I fired toward the direction at it.

Just in time too as the icy spear hit directly at the rotting Deku scrub as he pulls himself out of the flower and screams in pain as the Javelin shard hit right to the side of it's face.

I smirked as I saw it took a good chunk of his life and was about to prepare another Javeline shard, before the thing screeches in rage and ducks down.

glancing over to the roots I could see they stopped struggling and seemingly rotted away, then turn my gaze toward the larger flower in the middle to see it shake and suddenly Dreadleaf shot out of it like a cannone and held two propeller like flowers in his hands as he nows start to fly away from the arena.

It took me a second to realize he's trying to run away.

"Oh like hell you are!" I exclaimed as I start to run after him as he gleefully laugh and spits acid spit at me, forcing me to dodge left and right to avoid them.

Which was easier said than done as Dreadleaf was flying through the pathway that I saw on my way in and with so much shit in my way it's hard to avoid them as some of the acid spit splatter against my Thorn armour, sizzling as the substance is eating away at my thorn armour.

Gritting my teeth in anger and slight pain as some of the dropplets manage to hit some of the more exposed parts where the thorn armour doesn't cover but so far doesn't melt anything further... Other than leave some burn marks.

While i was dodging and running, I did try fire my frost bolts at Dreadleaf but surprisingly he's pretty good at dodging my spells as he laugh crazily while leaning left and right while avoiding my frost bolts. After what felt like hours of me chasing and dodging both his acid attack and the terrain, we soon come upon another open area with a rather large tree in the middle.

Then suddenly Dreadleaf let go of those propeller flowers and fell to the ground that shook the area a little and what came next horrified me quite a bit!

His grin seemingly widen and cracks, his two stubby legs start to crack and split as green blood seeps out and in a sickening crack, burst forth several spiderlike appendages that now acts like his legs and his stubby fingers on his hands lenghten and became claws.

Then there was a popping noise as I could see couple of wet orbs of eyes appear around his original eyes as he soon transformed from a sickly, rotting looking Deku scrub into a literal nightmare!

"KREEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"

I yelped in pain as its ear piercing screech hurts my vulpine ears as it below a haunting, angry cry through the forest before it jumped up and used its new legs to climb onto the branches as it rear its arm back to smash me.

"Hieee!" I screamed as I manage to dodge in time and was sent flying as the shockwave of its punch was powerful enough to create a force that sent debris of dirt and root everywhere, including me.

I grunted as I landed on the ground but noticed something lands besides me, a Deku Nut!

Saria taught me what these Deku nuts can be used for so I quickly grabbed it, threw it in front of the Dreadleaf as it turns to me to launch another attack and I quickly closed my eyes.

There was a bang and a scream of pain and a thud that shook the earth, I opened my eyes to see Dreadleaf was stunned from the flash which gave me a chance to attack!

I quickly used Frost nove to freeze him in place and then began to bombard him with javelin shards as many as i could cast before he can break free. Manage to fire six Javelin shards at his rotting bark hide, green blood explodes out of his wounds as he screeches in pain, shakes hard enough to break free from the Frost nova and jumped up to the branches again.

Seeing now he's firing acids spit and vines sprout from his body to whip me, I did my best to dodge and fire back with frost bolts but he kept on evading and not giving me a chance for a breathing room with all amount of projectile he's firing at me.

Taking cover behind a boulder and used Regrow to heal myself as I was hit several times by both acid and whip that I was on my third health of my health bar.

Dammit, how the hell am i supposed to fire back or gather any Deku nuts to stun the bastard!?

FLASH!

Suddenly there was a flash erupting behind me and Dreadleaf screaming in pain and crashed onto the ground hard. Confused I peeked around the boulder and sees the Dreadleaf stunned and rubbing its many eyes and to the side where the path to this area was located and there...

Was that blue haired Kokiri girl!

What the hell is she doing here!?

She notice me behind the boulder and shouted at me while pointing at Dreadleaf "Quickly! Kill it before it recovers!" realizing that she gave me a chance to counterattack that bastard and jumped out of the cover and fired many javelin shards as I could.

Was able to fire four and puncture his backside, but it wasn't enough as he shook himself out of his daze and instead of jumping up to the branches like he did before, he instead gave out a screech and went right for the Kokiri girl!

"FROST NOVA!"

A blasted a wave of frost that stopped him in his tracks as he trashes around, trying to break free.

I tried to fire another Javelin shard but realize I was too tired and out of MP! I quickly looked around for anything to use as a weapon and not too far from my position was a skeletal remains of what looks like a knight, and his rusty sword lies next to it too!

I quickly dashed toward it and grabbed it-

[Picked up a rusty shortsword!]

-And get notification that I immediately dismissed and charged toward the giant tree monster just as he was about to break free.

SLICE~ !

I manage to stab the borrowed sword into dreadleaf's hide as it stopped trashing, went completely still and silent until it groaned and fell backward, almost crushing me as I side stepped right in time as it landed with a loud thud.

I stepped back as I watch blue greenish fire erupted from Dreadleaf as he seemingly incinerate into ashes.

Hearing grass crunches behind me, I glance behind me to see the blue haired Kokiri girl walk up to me, seemingly watch the burning body of Dreadleaf with both confusion and morbid curiosity before I looked back to see the entire body of Dreadleaf have fully turned to ash and the strangest thing is that I could FEEL the whole forest just suddenly no longer in this strange toxic atmosphere that it had.

And I almost jumped and had a heart attack when the screen suddenly popped out of nowhere.

Oh hey I also leveled up! Neat!

Though looking at the armour that I now have, it is definitely better than what I have... though I think I have to be careful when wearing it or otherwise people are going to think i'm some sort of an evil wizard of some kind.

"Well that...happened." I said, glancing to the blue haired Kokiri girl who glances to me with a frown.

"...That's it? that's all you have to say after I followed you to see where you would be going and finding out you're going to fight that... Thing?" She angrily said.

Ok! was not expecting her to be angry about this!

"Whoa, take it easy!" I said, placing the rusty sword against my shoulder as I turn toward her "If I haven't taken the initiate to fight this thing, who knows what kind of damage this thing could have done to the Kokiri forest!"

"Even so, you could have been killed if I wasn't here helping you distract it!"

"Look." I firmly said "I know what I did was stupid but I refuse to sit around and allow something dangerous like this threaten the Kokiri people and the Great deku tree."

We both stared at each other sternly, until she scoffed and looked away.

Well she is certainly full of sunshines and rainbow, that one is... Looking around I could see there are several remains of knights and travellers around the place, though few has their bones scattered or melted, likely from Dreadleaf constant attacks.

Welp, seeing as these bodies aren't going to bury themself might as well start working~

"..W-What are you doing?" I glance behind me to see the Kokiri girl look at me weirdly as I start digging a hole where I can put the bodies in.

I just shrug and answer "Burrying the dead, someone gotta give these poor folks proper burial they need instead of being left forgottened." She stares at me for a moment until she sighs "I see... Well let me help then."...Eh?

"You sure?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, I...Understand, sorta, how these people must have felt. Abandoned and forgotten with no one to even remember you or find your remains."

...O...K...?

yeah there is definitely something going on with that girl, but it ain't my problems so we both start working on digging up a row of graves for these poor folks. Took over an hour but we manage to give these deceased bodies proper burial graves instead of being left out in the open.

[Quest objective complete!]

Hidden Quest: Give the respect for the dead 34/25

You completed the objective.

And of course another screen pops up... But this one seems different, like where the rest of the perky description or what my reward is?

Suddenly as if the light of the world just suddenly darkened...

A feeling of death and coldness sweep across the area as if an entity have appeared from somewhere, which the naked eye couldn't see. I looked around rather alarmed, trying to pinpoint where this feeling comes from and what the hell is going on-

Then... it happened.

In front of me near the large tree in the center, out of the ground was a black smoke rises. Out of the shadows came a cloaked figure with skeletal arms with sharp claws and a skull like face of a creature that I have no idea what it came from.

Instead of feeling scared of this thing before me, I felt... Relaxed and calm, happy even.

I immediately knew what this thing was before me...

It was the Grim Reaper itself.

The Grim Reaper stared down at me with its empty eye sockets, then held its open hands toward me and two orbs of energy appeared above its bony palms. I used observe and sees the right one is [Death Magic] and the other [Elemental Shaper]. Looking at the description the Death magic allows me to use a good version of Necromancy while the Elemental Shaper allows me to take the essence of slain boss monsters and use it for myself.

Realizing that this is my prize and I have to choose one, looking at the Death magic sphere. I can see the benefits of using it but the Elemental shaper... I think I know which one I would like.

So I walked up to it and pointed at the left hand where it held the Elemental shaper and the Grim Reaper nodded and presented the floating orb of energy to me and it seemingly absorbed into me.

I could feel the power coursing through my small body, giving me knowledge how it works and what to be careful off!

Once it was done, I opened my eyes and smiled at the Grim reaper who nodded at me and seems to gesture toward something. Looking where it was pointing I saw something floating where dreadleaf used to be at.

A sphere of sickly green energy floated above the ground... Is that... Dreadleaf's life essence?

I slowly walked toward it and held my hand at it, as the energy slowly moves toward me and changes from that sickly green color to a more vibrant green color before it exploded in particles of light that enters my body.

I could feel a new source of power enter my very being, giving me visions of what this power can do which i couldn't help but grin at the prospect of what it does that after it finished fuse withint me, I activated the Elemental shaper and a green flash of light exploded from my body.

In its place was a small, green humanoid being with green skin, leaf like hair with flower buds that has yet to open, black pupilless eyes with fanged mouth, long leaf like skirt and sleeves that covers the three fingered clawed hands.

This... Is me... In my Dryad form as I look over myself to see my new form after I took Dreadleaf's Life energy and used it for myself!

Di~ng!

[You gained the power of Elemental Shaper!]

You absorbed the Life energy of the fallen boss monster Dreadleaf! You can now use the Dryad form!

hah! neat!

I dismissed the form as I turn around to smile and thank the Grim reaper... Then notice it wasn't looking at me but at the blue haired Kokiri girl Who was looking at us with wide eyes and open mouth in utter shock.

oh...Forgot she was there.

I looked at the girl who didn't seems to pay attention to me but at the grim reaper who was letting out faint ghastly noises and hisses, as if she flinches and looks away what looks to be shame before uttering "I...I don't... This isn't fair...!"

...Huh?

What's going on here?

The Grim Reaper let out anoter hiss as the Blue haired Kokiri girl flinches, then it looks at my direction and nods, before it slink back into the ground where it disappears and the world seemingly return to life as the light from the sun returns fully.

It was just me and the Kokiri girl, none of us said anything as I looked at the Blue haired elf girl in confusion while she was looking down at the ground, seemingly angry and sad as tears seems to threaten to escape her eyes.

Before I have a chance to ask what was that all about, she turns around and bolts out of there.

"H-Hey wait!" I called out, but she ignored me and just ran away crying.

What the heck was that about?

Did she know the Grim Reaper?

What did the Grim Reaper even say to her?

I just sighed and shrugged, can't really help it but I figure i might get answers from her one day when she calmed down.

...Crap, I forgot to ask her name or even use Observe to see who the heck she is!

Ah well, maybe next time. With that, I picked up the rusty shortsword that now have become my new weapon and walked back to the Kokiri forest...Where I'm pretty sure Saria is going to give me an earful for going to fight Dreadleaf by myself.

Greeeaaaaat...!
