![]() Author has written 2 stories for Final Fantasy VII, and Voices of a Distant Star. Title: The Apathetic Anime Otaku I admit... I'm not the best author on this site. I'm not too strict on myself so if I lose interest, I stop writing. Therefore, I don't want to lie to the readers by giving a definite timeline for updates. I'll give an approximate one, but don't expect me to follow it strictly to the letter. I also lack a Beta reader for plot corrections and minor mistakes. English is my primary language so spelling and grammar mistakes are few and far in between. If any of you feel like helping me, send me a message and we'll work things out. The only reason why I write fanfiction is because it's fun and liberating. I've been enamored by anime and manga for a while now, indulging myself too often on new releases. However, once in a while, I find myself... disappointed with a series. It may be overwhelmingly beautiful with rich characters and an intricate plot but... some parts... just... plain... suck. Therefore, I try to create my own version of the story. I'm pretty open to all genres in anime. Even though I gravitate toward shounen works, I find myself enjoying more than a few shoujo titles. Several that I highly suggest viewing are... Series Movie/OAV A brief word about some of these titles... Bokurano is the most dramatic and traumatic mecha series I've ever come across. A group of children are blessed (or cursed as you would eventually find out) with the power to control a large powerful robot. Using their new weapon, a single child would use it to fight against another being intent on destroying the Earth. However, the price to summon and control their defender is the pilot's life. As the series progresses, each child comes face-to-face with the true meaning of sacrifice as they have to choose between their death or the world's destruction. The anime is a more restrained version of the manga so if you want to feel the full effects of this tragic story, read the manga. Claymore would have my vote for the best action/adventure series of 2007. A secret organization of female warriors is the only effective force against demons that prey upon humans. However, the sword-wielding women did not gain their strength without any sacrifice. By consuming the flesh and blood of the very beings they slay, part of their humanity is lost. In addition, they live with the knowledge that one day their demononic side will take over. As one warrior with a troubled past will find out, not everything is as it seems and even the organization she serves may not have pure intentions. Welcome to the NHK is the most amusing series I've come across. The manga is highly recommended since the anime leaves too much out. Satou is a failure of society, a dropout from college without a job or purpose in life. He spends his days hiding in his room, afraid of a mass conspiracy turned against him. Then one day, he meets a girl who is willing to help him change his ways. However, the road to recovery is long and filled with obstacles. Words cannot describe how hilarious this series is. Voices of a Distant Star is a short movie created by my favorite director, Makoto Shinkai. Almost made entirely by himself, he weaves a tale about two lovers separated by time and space. The only means of communication between them are their cell phones but as one drifts farther away, the more time is needed to send/recieve messages. It is the tragedy of war testing the power of love. Simple but emotionally powerful. I hope that all of you will experience these works as I'm sure you'll be as amazed as I was when I first watched them. I'm also an avid fanfiction reader. However, I have my peeves. One of the major things that make me sick... are yaoi/yuri stories. The principle isn't too offensive but the reason why they are written (if there is any) is completely and utterly wrong. Most spawn from illiterate writers who have no talent and change the characters so much that only their names can relate to the series. Sometimes, authors feel the need to be creative but writing such garbage is no better than writing down your nightly fantasies. There is no point. It is a disgrace of literature. Please do not provide suggestions or commentary asking me to make a yaoi/yuri story. It will be a waste of your time in making the message and a waste of mines when I immediately delete it. "Since middle school, we probably only saw each other. But a distance that takes eight years at the speed of light, is no different than saying "forever". The time between Mikako and I drifts further and further apart. That is why I have made a goal, to make my heart harder, colder and stronger. The door that I know will never open, I won't knock on eternally. I will become an adult, even alone." =Current Status= Once more |
