The recon mission that Regina was tasked with was to try and find out if possible what this one strange robot was up to. It was not easy but using their magitek in a certain manner it was possible to sneak their way around various robots without being detected. They used their ability to control them to fool their sensor into thinking that they were not seeing anything thus nothing would appear at least for them. To a normal human, they would still be fully visible though.

Which was this was something that was not privy to only their side as they seemingly had something that allowed them to remain hidden to the Overlander eye...at least the normal Overlander eye at least. Regina could see it clearly as it had been something that was being constructed at the city limits seemingly away from the frontline where things were not as contested given that was not where Robotnik's forces were located.

"So that what you discovered then," her father/commander said

"Yes as it seems that they are doing in almost in plain sight as people are just walking by the construction site without noticing it at all," she told him.

"Interestingly, the area in question is one where they are not allowing any of us to be around anymore," her mother/ vice commander said.

"That is not all the strange robot is a spot there as well overseeing the construction as there seems to be a traitor amongst us" Regina reported.

The one that was the traitor was not one of the Magitek members but instead one of the people that had a high standing ruling class of Mega Central. They were part of the ant-Magitek faction that once tried to get it made illegal to practice it within the city yet their side failed at this attempt.

"So they are back again as I thought they were dealt with all those years ago but they turned over a new leaf but that does not seem to be the case sadly," her father said disappointed.

This worried Regina's mother as things were touch and go with this person back then as were not opposed to using methods that could be deemed as underhanded. Though it was these very underhanded methods that cost them in the end as that served as one of the primary reason their side lost and magitek was not outlawed back then.

However, while they were thinking over what their next move was going to be a messager from the normal defense force arrived with urgent news that would affect them all going forward from this point onward. Seeing the upside to magitek more so than the downside of it, the normal defense that mingled with the magitek users thus they both kinds of became integrated and united in their goal of defending their home from threat from outside but also from within as well.

They learned that the High Chancellor was overthrown and the leaders that had called them back were traitors as well. The anti-magitek force had sided with Robotnik and led their coup attempt from the shadows. They had no solid concrete proof of this that could be convincing enough at the moment at least. The only reason the normal defense force was aware of this was that the tech that had been developed allowed to notice that the High Chancellor and other leaders were not aware of something they should have been. That being the tech to fool robots as it was right in front of them but they did not notice it at all.

One that saw this quickly removed it along with all others from their bases to secure a location that was known only to them.

"This certainly does make things more difficult as one wrong move and we could all be seen as traitors ourselves," her father said with a sigh.

"Can't we just expose the fakes as they clearly are not the real ones as we have the proof?" Regina asked curiously.

"Proof that only we know to exist at all and can be used against us if not do not right," her mother said with a heavy sigh.

It was decided that the first thing they needed to do was to deal with this construction site that was being built on the city limit that was hidden to all but those that used maigtek. That and the strange robot that was overseeing it was the clear and present danger that they could not allow to continue just remaining there unchecked after all.

Leaving the task of ensuring the safety of their city to the normal defense force. The majority of the technomage gather up as they were going to deal with this hidden construction site. They could take this down first to serve as part of their proof that something was afoot and that they were being taken over from within. Exposing that place and using it reveal the tech of their enemy and that they had managed to somehow hijack their High Chancellor and other leaders. Along with possibly bringing the existence of that one robot that just happened to appear just as they were going against them slightly.

Regina, her parents, and the normal defense forces were all correct in thinking that they were in deep trouble as that construction site that was being built was one that could change the tide of the war not just between Robotnik Empire and Mega Central. It could go beyond just this one war to instead spread out and deal with not only the likes of Mega Central. It was something that if completed and perfected could not only end this war here but also end the ongoing war that was going on against that blasted hedgehog and pesky Freedom Fighter that he belonged to as well.

Those fighting to defend Mega Central made a critical mistake or possibly not so much a mistake as an oversight. One where they could have attempted to contact the Freedom Fighters. Though it was not officially known there was contact between the two groups as just as Robotnik tried to rally them to his cause. The Freedom Fighters had once done the same themselves however while talks fell threw they did not end up becoming hostile towards one another resulting in means to communicate should the time ever come to face a common threat, i.e the Robotnik Empire.

Should they have contacted them would things had played out for the better or worse is unknown though.
