Ella couldn't sleep. Her mind was still racing over everything that had happened earlier in the day. She got akumatized... and her superhero partners knew her civilian ego had wanted to kill herself. And Adrien knew, as well...
"Ugh I don't think I can ever go back to school!"
"And why's that, little lady?"
Ella jumped, her eyes darting around to finally see Cat perched on the edge of the buildings roof.
"Geez Cat, you scared me!"
"Sorry, angel- didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to check on you."
The girl sighed, retaking her seat.
"This is gonna become a regular thing, isn't it..."
"I just want to make sure you're okay."
"This was something I wanted to avoid, Cat. Now you and Ladybug gonna start walking on eggshells around me. I understand the worry," she held up her hand as Cat's mouth opened, "I'm not dismissing it, I promise. But I don't want to be treated differently because of my past decisions or the like. Yes, earlier today I wanted to end my life. But you and Ladybug helped me, plus my friends being there for me. Right now, I'm happy my life is still going on."
Ella stood, moving to lean on the roofs edge beside Cat.
"I'm not gonna lie and say that everything's perfect now. There are still problems in my life and secrets I can't tell. And I can't promise there won't be another day when ending it plants its sweet seeds. But for now, I'm here." She finished, resting a hand on Cat's.
"I have you, Ladybug, Marinette and Adrien to thank for that."
Cat watched her for a moment, before he smiled.
"You really like him, don't you?"
Ella's cheeks lit aflame, her eyes widening to comical heights.
"...is it that obvious?"
"Just a little bit, little lady~"
"Ugh and here I thought I was hiding it well enough! This is embarrassing!"
"Why don't you tell him how you feel?"
Ella frowned, resting her chin on her arms.
"Cause... a friend of mine has a crush on him too. And I don't wanna ruin our friendship. I'd rather hold it in incase she has a shot with him. Cause who knows- it's not like we can see who we end up with?" She teased, moving her gaze from the feline hero to the lights of Paris.
"...Actually- I know someone who can~"
"Oh?" Ella asked, feigning ignorance.
"Yeah- my lovely angel Raven~ she can see a person's fate. Buuut she said it can't be used for personal reasons."
"Sounds like a power that would be useful right now."
"Yeah but my girl's got the brains along with being super cute and she won't even let me see if we end up together for the rest of our lives! I wanna know!"
"Awe kitty's impatient?"
"Kitty?" Cat cocked his head; that was Raven's nickname for him.
"Is that nickname okay?"
"Yeah no problem! It's perfectly fine!"
The pair stayed there for almost an hour more, just sitting in silence and enjoying the company. Luckily, Kiismet was still sleeping peacefully in the collar of Ella's sweater so the girl didn't worry about Cat accidentally finding out her alter ego. Finally at midnight, Ella stretched and told Cat to go on home.
"Are you sure, little lady?"
"Yes, I'm sure. You need to get some sleep too, after today."
"I should be saying that to you. But if you're sure." Cat turned and kneeled, taking Ella's hand in his.
"I'll see you soon, mon bel ange~"
"Good night, kitty."
