Chapter 2. "You've Got To Be Joking."
Unknown to Hogwarts' inhabitants, their spell casting last night awoke the school's dormant spirit. The spirit of Lady Hogwarts smiled at her student's excitement. She was aware of what the spell would do; she was also mindful of the current headmaster's intention.
Lady Hogwarts couldn't help but agree with the headmaster's wishes; the students should know what could happen if they sided with her former student; they should know what challenges the future generations will face. The best example to give would be her most gifted student. 'She is exceptionally connected with her magic, shares the same views as the founders, and lived a life filled with pain and misery due to the war.' This was a truth that deeply saddened the great spirit.
'But, it's okay, the students will change the future. She will not suffer this time; she will get the happiness that she deserves, the life that she, and her brother, were robbed of.' A bright smile returned to Lady Hogwarts's face. With a wave of her hand, she summoned the spirits of the founders.
There was a flash of blinding light, and from within it, there came Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They had landed in the room where Dumbledore had found the spell.
Godric was the first to recover from shock, "Not that it isn't nice to see you all again, but what are we doing here?" He looked politely confused, glancing at his fellow founders, waiting for an answer.
Rowena glanced around the room before walking to where Helga and Salazar had appeared, "I'm not entirely sure, but it seems that Lady Hogwarts has summoned us."
"Isn't this the Vault of Mastery? Gosh, how many years has it been since we were here last?" Helga questioned; she had a dreamy look on her face as she returned the hug the raven-haired beauty pulled her into.
It is Salazar who answers her, his voice gruff and a contemplative look on his face, "Far longer than any of us would care to admit."
They all looked at each other, and after a moment of silence, they all laughed. Godric brought him into a warm embrace, reveling in his friend's presence, "It seems you have gained a sense of humor in the afterlife, Sal." His voice filled with mirth.
"It took him long enough. I thought he would never get that stick out his ass," Rowena giggled, nudging Helga, who had tried to cover her amusement by burying her face in Rowena's shoulder.
Before Salazar could fire back, a flash of light caught their attention. Lady Hogwarts smiled at the founders, bowing her head slightly once she reached them. "It is a pleasure to see you all again."
"The pleasure is all ours, my lady." Godric planted a kiss on her hand, an elegant smile gracing his face.
Helga and Rowena giggled while Salazar rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but what was the reason you summoned us? Has something happened to the school?"
Salazar's question sobered the rest of the occupants in the room, and each of the founders looked at Lady Hogwarts with bated breath.
Lady Hogwarts smiled sadly, "Nothing has happened, at least not yet."
Helga stepped forward, "What do you mean?" The concern for the school and her students was palpable.
Rowena placed a hand on Helga's shoulder, calming the witch and providing a small amount of comfort, "Let the Lady explain; it might not be something to worry about."
Any comfort Rowena's words brought the three were quickly dashed away at the look on Lady Hogwarts' face. "I am afraid that you are mistaken. There are dark times ahead for us all."
Godric became stern, "What do you mean? What is going to happen to our school?"
"There is a war, started by a former student of ours. He has split our students apart, pinned them against each other, all for his gain, and in time, he will cause the downfall of the wizarding world as we know it." Lady Hogwarts let out a pained sigh before continuing, "He is your descendant, Salazar."
Salazar stiffened but said nothing, waiting for the lady to continue. "He uses your name to sway those in your house to side with him. He has twisted your views to support his agenda."
"And what is his agenda?" Salazar hissed, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Lady Hogwarts took in a shaky breath, "He wishes to rid the world of muggles and muggle-borns. In little more than twenty years, he will hunt down all the muggle-borns that attend the school, and he will either kill them or imprison them. He will treat half-bloods the same way unless they swear allegiance to him or if they are from a powerful family."
Helga let out a choked sob, her hand clutching Rowena's, who had tears streaming down her face. Godric let out an angry roar while Salazar glared at the floor.
"What you are saying is, my descendant has taken it upon himself to commit genocide."
"That is correct." Tears were flowing down Lady Hogwarts' face, a sight none of the founders had ever seen before.
The founders know how attached the spirit is to all who studied under her care; she views them as her children, now she has to deal with the loss of many of her children. The pain was shared among the founders, each feeling a sense of grief and anger.
Salazar felt a flash of guilt go through him, "My descendant has tricked those in my house, and he is the cause of strife between all the other houses." His anger rose higher at the thought of his descendant abusing his name. "How dare he!" He was seething with rage, "I have expressed my doubts about having students from non-magic families coming to learn here, but I never thought of hurting them! If anything, I would protect them! The fact that he was able to twist my views to support this mass murder makes me sick. How could the rest of my students follow him? Do they not have common sense?"
The other founders could only watch as Salazar raged; they couldn't blame him. If it had been someone from their own house, they would react the same way. Godric placed a hand on Salazar's shoulder; the gesture calmed the hysteric wizard but did not improve his mood.
The room was shrouded in silence, and Lady Hogwarts took this as an opportunity to continue. "There is more," She held out her hand and summoned the book of Clairvoyance, the one Dumbeldore used to cast the spell, "The current headmaster has found this room, and while perusing the library, he stumbled upon this book. It seems he wanted to show his students that their choices could have a devastating effect on the future. With this book, he used a spell that would allow apparitions of future students to be seen."
Rowena gasped, holding out her hand to see the book, "I never thought anyone would cast the spell after the last time!"
"Those poor people," Helga shook her head, her eyes still filled with unshed tears. "They went insane trying to undo future problems, only to make the problems even worse. They were lucky you two passed by that town, Row. If it weren't for both you and Salazar, they would have killed each other."
The two mentioned looked solemn; they remembered the arguments and the hateful comments the villagers threw at each other. By the time they had cast the reverse spell, the village was torn apart, many families splitting apart and moving out to different towns.
"Dumbeldore cast the spell an hour ago. Right now, the castle is filled with children rushing off to bed, or gossiping about what they might see, which is why I have summoned you all here." With a deep breath, Lady Hogwarts smiled solemnly at the founders, "The time has arrived. The child of prophecy is coming."
The founders stilled; it was like all breath had left their bodies. Godric was the first to recover, "Are you sure?" His voice quivered; it seemed like even though he asked, he didn't want an answer.
Salazar, pale as snow, questioned further, "Is the situation that bad? Is my blood the reason why the end of the wizarding world is close?" He knew the answer, but he couldn't help the dread he felt when Lady Hogwarts nodded.
Godric and Helga went to his side, their presence giving him a little comfort. Rowena began pacing, muttering possible solutions before she stopped and stared at the spirit. "My Lady, do you know what will become of the child? Will they be on his side?"
Everyone stared at the spirit, waiting for her answer. Lady Hogwarts smiled softly, placing a hand on Salazar's shoulder, "The child is on our side. They will fight for our school, for those who your descendant has deemed unworthy." She could feel the tension melt from Salazar's body; he relaxed slightly but still held on to Helga's hand. "The child is a descendant of the Peverell family, Ignotus Peverell to be exact. She will be born into the Potter family."
Godric beamed, "That's good blood; there's no doubt the magic in her will be strong."
"Indeed, her magic is of the purest form. She will develop much faster than her peers, something the headmaster knows as well. In the future, he will allow her to come to school early." Lady Hogwarts couldn't help the pride she felt for the girl; she will be a unique child. "I must confess, I altered the spell just a tad bit,"
Salazar smirked while Godric laughed, both knowing the spirit had a mischievous side, "What have you done?"
"I made it so that we can choose which moment in the future we want the students to see. That way, we can control the outcome of this spell. I also made it impossible for any of the people present at the spell casting to tell those who weren't there."
"That way, my heir won't be able to know what the future holds for him." Salazar smirked at the spirit, "That was clever thinking, my lady."
Rowena was excited, as was Helga, "When will the first apparition appear?"
Lady Hogwarts giggled, "As soon as all the students have had their breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day after all."
With that, the founders began exploring the room. Not much has changed, Salazar noted; his potion's area was in the same condition he left it; however, there were new potion ingredients. This, he supposed, was the magic of the room. The Vault of Mastery was a room that contained all of the world's knowledge; it was constantly updating its library, the weapons in the training area were vast and always in perfect condition. Like his potions lab or Helga's greenhouse, there were specialty areas that the room's magic always kept up to date. There was no limit to what this room could provide you with. It is truly a scholar's dream. 'I wonder if the Potter girl finds this room, it would be in her best interest.'
Soon, morning arrived, and the students began to flood the great hall. They all woke up on time and were quick to start the day, which amused the teachers. James Potter was beaming, the dream he had last night replaying in his mind over and over again; nothing could ruin his day.
"Hey, Pads, you think there might be an apparition right now? I mean, we are all here."
Sirius, through a mouthful of eggs and sausage, said, "I hope so, Prongs; I don't think I can wait any longer."
Remus shook his head in disgust, a sentiment shared with Peter, "Padfoot, don't talk with your mouth full. And, James, be a little patient."
The boys finished up their breakfast but didn't leave the hall right away, just in case any apparitions popped up. It seemed everyone else had the same thought because, even though the food was gone and the first class was about to start, all the students stayed in the hall.
McGonagall huffed, fighting her way to the front, "Well, are you going to stand around all day? Get to class!"
Most students were given dull revisions of what they learned last year; however, Lady Hogwarts decided to provide two classes a special treat mid-lesson.
The sixth-year Gryffindors and Slytherins were in potions, currently working on a memory loss potion. While the rest of the class was focusing on their work, Sirius and James kept glancing around the room and peering out the classroom door, waiting for an apparition to show up.
"This is taking forever," Sirius huffed, slamming his potion bottles down on the counter, "I don't think that spell worked at all."
Lily sighed and glared at the Black heir, "The day just started. You have to be patient, Black. You can't just make an apparition appear."
Sirius huffed once more, crossing his arms like a stubborn child, "Well, I want them to show up now!" He hit the table with his fist, making James, Remus, and Peter chuckle.
"Well, Mister Black, you can't always get what you want. Now I want you to-"
But what Slughorn wanted Sirius to do, no one would find out. The whole class fell silent as a group of children walked into the room, not paying attention to the rest of the room's occupants.
Alice Prewett let out a shriek when one of the children walked right through her; this encouraged the class to move into the corner of the room while more children walked in. Sirius laughed loudly, looking at Lily with a smug look, "Looks like I can make apparitions appear."
Lily just glared at him but snickered when Marlene mimicked Sirius's hair flip. Once all the future children took their seats, the present students walked around looking at the room's changes. The board's writing was no longer about a sixth-year potion but a fourth-year brew, so it would be safe to assume the kids were fourteen. They noticed that the students were Gryffindors and Slytherins, something that made the marauders groan, "Looks like they are still putting us together, isn't it obvious that we don't like each other." James whined, glaring at Severus, who glared back.
"Hey Potter, this boy looks like you!" exclaimed Jonas Wood, one of the chasers on the Gryffindor quidditch team. The marauders rushed over to where the boy was and gasped when they saw him, "Damn, James, he could be your twin." Sirius laughed. Remus got a little closer, "Except the eyes, he has green eyes."
James felt his heart leap when he looked into the boy's eyes. He spent years pining over a girl with those same eyes, and now there was a boy that looked like him but with her eyes.
He looked over at Lily and smiled brightly, "I told you we would end up together Lily-flower, here's the proof."
"There is no way I would ever have a child with you!" Lily and her friends walked over to the boy in question and analyzed him thoroughly. 'Sure, we have the same eye color, and his nose does look like mine a tad bit; that still doesn't mean I had a kid with Potter.'
Lily turned to James, who was looking at her with hopeful eyes, and glared. "As I said before, there is no way I would have a child with you. That kid and I only have one thing in common, and that is our eye color, that's it! I'm not the only person with green eyes, so please get the idea of 'us' out of your head because it is never going to happen!"
James visibly deflated, saddened to hear the love of his life say something so cruel; meanwhile, Severus was grinning, laughing along to the jokes his friends were making about Potter. 'Serves him right, the arrogant fool.'
James was about to say something to Lily when a loud bang distracted them. The present students gasped when an adult Severus walked into the room, a deep scowl on his face. They watched as he walked to the front of the class before turning around and glaring at the fourth-years.
"Well? Quit gawking like brainless fish and open your books." Severus growled.
"Damn Sev! What the hell happened to you?" Antonin Dolohov, one of Severus's friends, asked, amused. Severus couldn't answer; he merely gaped at his older self, wondering why he was so upset.
The students took out their books and began the potion; nothing noteworthy happened until a loud explosion and an "Oh, Nevile." It seemed one of the Gryffindor students messed up his potion.
"Longbottom, you idiot boy!" Severus growled, making poor Nevile even more nervous.
"Hey, don't talk to him like that!" Alice shouted, glaring at both the present and future Severus. Alice knew that this boy was her boyfriend's child, and she thought, or more like hoped, that he was her child too.
Lily ignored Severus, keeping her attention on the Longbottom boy. 'Poor kid, he has to be Alice's son; he has her nervousness.' She was surprised when the Potter look-alike walked up to him and began clearing up the mess. 'I guess he was raised with better manners than Potter was, no doubt the mother taught him everything, that poor woman.'
Severus hissed at the boy, "And who told you to help Longbottom, Potter? Unless you did something to his potion and now feel guilty?"
"I'm not sure how it goes in Slytherin, but if I see one of my housemates in trouble, I'm going to help them." The boy glared at Severus, hatred, and annoyance apparent in his bright green eyes. His gaze softened when he looked at Neville, who smiled slightly at him, "Thanks Harry,"
James smiled proudly at his son's actions. He was surprised when Alice thanked him but smiled back. However, the smile faded when apparition Snape took fifteen points and gave him detention, although a small part of him regained that earlier pride when he saw that his son didn't back down when Snape glared at him.
Sirius, however, snarled at Snape, "What was that, Snivellus? He didn't do anything but help his mate. Is that against the rules now?" Remus growled as well, a feeling of protectiveness towards the boy urging him to lash out at Snape.
"That is my future self. I have no control over his actions." Severus answered. But even he couldn't believe how he was acting.
The rest of the class went by fast. A bushy-haired Gryffindor girl was the first to turn in her potion; she then went to help Nevile with his. Unfortunately, Nevile had to stay behind to redo the potion by himself. Things only got interesting again towards the end of class when Harry's friends brought up a tournament.
"I don't know why they are bringing it back! The Triwizard tournament is brutal. Some of the competitors have even died!" The bushy-haired girl said. The red-haired boy next to her laughed, "Who cares? It would be amazing competing; you get eternal glory, the reward money is nothing to scoff at, and you get to prove yourself against other schools. I wish we could enter. Wouldn't that be great, Harry?"
Harry shrugged, "I think I agree with Hermione on this one. It just seems too dangerous. Besides, I don't need any more glory, I don't care about the money, and I didn't even know other wizarding schools existed until the quidditch world cup. I think I will be fine watching the tournament; I already have enough excitement in my life."
The present students looked at each other before focusing on the marauders, who looked just as confused.
'Why wouldn't he know about other wizarding schools?' James asked himself.
Severus, however, was shocked by the fact that James Potter's son didn't want any more fame or attention.
The three kids just laughed, "That's true enough. It will be nice just to have a quiet year where we can just focus on class and not worry about giant three-headed dogs or a mass murderer escaping to kill you, supposedly." Hermione, as they now knew her name, giggled.
Ron's smile turned stiff for a second like he remembered something painful, "Or giant man-eating spiders. Ugh, I hate spiders!" He shuddered while Harry and Hermione laughed.
These comments worried the Gryffindors and some of the Slytherins. What is happening at Hogwarts?
"Let's head up to the kitchen and then the hospital wing. I want to get Historia some treacle tart to cheer her up." The other two agreed and headed upstairs, then they vanished, signaling the end of the apparitions.
Sirius turned to James and wiggled his eyebrows, "I wonder who Historia is?"
James chuckled, running his hand through his hair, "Perhaps his girlfriend, he did seem worried for her."
"Well, it is sweet of him to stop by the kitchen to pick up something for her," Remus noted that Harry's friends also seemed worried for the girl, "I wonder why she is in the hospital wing; do you think they might be an apparition of her?"
Before anyone could answer him, the school bell rang, signaling the end of potions. Slughorn sighed before turning towards his students, informing them that he will quickly go over today's lesson tomorrow. The Gryffindors headed towards their next class, charms, excitedly talking about the future children.
"I'm telling you, Alice, Neville is your son. He has your eye shape, your chin, and he is just as nervous and clumsy as you were." Marlene listed out, giggling when Alice blushed. Lily nodded along, adding her input here and there.
James and Sirius watched the love of their lives laugh with each other. James knew Harry was his and Lily's son, now all he had to do was convince Lily, which would be difficult, but he was a stubborn man; his mom said so all the time.
On the other side of the castle, the seventh-year transfiguration class was about to get their show.
McGonagall looked over her class. There were three Slytherins, Bellatrix Black, Rodolphus Lestrange, and Lucius Malfoy. She also had Fabian and Gideon Prewett and Amelia Bones of Gryffindor. From Hufflepuff, she had Charles Abbott, and from Ravenclaw, she had Ruby Patil, Lucas Boot, and Xenophilius Lovegood.
The students looked at each other wearily before taking their seats. Minerva turned to start the lesson but froze when she saw herself sitting at her desk. The seventh years followed Minerva to the front of the room, out of the way of the apparitions.
"They look like second years. Wouldn't you say so, Gabian?" Gideon asked.
"Right you are, Fideon," Fabian replied, making Amelia roll her eyes. She had heard that joke about five times today, and it isn't even lunchtime yet. Minerva shushed them when her apparition began to talk.
"We will be going over what we learned yesterday, so all of you take out your wands and repeat the incantation." Minerva walked up and down the rows correcting students on their wand motions or pronunciations.
"That boy has a broken wand; he can't do spells with that!" Amelia gasped, causing everyone to look at the Gryffindor second year.
Bella sneered, "He won't be able to cast any spell with that."
Her fiance, Rodolphus, put an arm around her, "Why has he not gotten a replacement?"
"I can tell you why. The boy is a Weasley. The blood-traitors probably couldn't afford to buy him a new one." Lucius stated arrogantly, making Bella and Rodolphus laugh.
The Prewett twins glared at Malfoy; that was their sister and brother-in-law he just insulted. Minerva silenced them once more, sparing them no more than just a glance.
A rather cute little girl entered the room, gaining everyone's attention. She looked like she was going to burst into tears but had yet to cry. "I'm so sorry that I'm late professor, I got held up by Professor Lockhart. He wanted to talk about his time in Albania and how he got rid of a pack of werewolves by blasting them away with a spell he invented. To be honest, I was not paying attention. However, I made sure to get a pass."
Minerva pursed her lips but nodded, "That's alright, dear, take your seat. The directions are on the board."
Once the girl sat down at her seat in the front, the students got a better look at her. Amelia walked towards the girl carefully before she gasped and waved over Fabian and Gideon, "She looks just like Evans!" The rest of the students came forward too, and they were all surprised to see a miniature Lily Evans.
The little girl began talking to the boy next to her, "I don't think you should use your wand, Ron. Something bad could happen."
Ron huffed, seemingly annoyed, "Hermione said that already, but what else can I do?"
"Well, why don't you write home and ask for a new wand?"
"And get another howler? 'It's your fault for breaking your wand! Driving the car into that tree!' No, I think I would rather stick with this."
They watched as the girl nodded her head and began her attempt at transfiguring a tiny mouse into a teacup. They were shocked when she had done it on her first try, not expecting her to understand how to cast the spell after just reading the directions on the board. But what came as a bigger surprise was what the little girl's name was.
Minerva walked over to the little girl and gave her a pat on the head, "Well done, Miss Potter. I expected nothing less."
They froze in shock. This girl, who looked exactly like Lily Evans, was a Potter. Fabian snorted before bursting out laughing, "Well, it looks like James got his wish."
On the other hand, Amelia rubbed her head, "Lily is going to have an aneurysm when she finds out." The thought made everyone in the room laugh, including the Slytherins.
Before turning to Ron, the Potter girl thanked Professor McGonagall, "You can use my wand if you like."
The boy smiled thankfully, "Thanks, Historia! Why can't you be more like your little sister, Harry?" Ron had turned around to look at the boy in question.
The twins chuckled once more, "They have two kids! Oh, I can't wait to see the look on their faces."
Harry looked at Ron, amused, "Well, not all of us excel at transfiguration. If I had finished up my mouse, I would have given you my wand."
The girl next to Harry huffed a bit, "Well, if you followed my instructions, then you wouldn't have any problem. Historia and I are the only ones who have transfigured our mice into teacups, and she wasn't even here for half the class!"
Historia cut off Harry's reply, "I was only able to do it because you explained the theory excellently at breakfast, Hermione."
Said girl blushed and smiled before she turned and looked at the two boys. "If Historia, who is nine, can do this spell, then you boys can do it. Now focus!"
"Wait," Lucas Boot said, "If she is only nine, then why is she at Hogwarts?"
The students looked at McGonagall, who was equally confused. "I'm not entirely sure, mister Boot. Perhaps the apparitions will tell us.
The two boys were able to turn their mice into teacups five minutes before the bell rang. Once the bell rang, they left the room and began walking towards the great hall.
"Wood said to meet him outside the quidditch pitch once we finish eating. He wants to get some more practice in before the first game." Historia sighed while Harry scoffed, "Is he trying to kill us?"
Hermione looked at them curiously, "Why do you say that?".
It is Ron who answers her, "He had them both up from six am. He made them fly the whole pitch five times before actual training started!"
"He says we're doing that every day until the first game. He is desperate to win this year." Historia pouted.
"Poor kids, I get that he wants to win, but still, it's not healthy to push them past their limits; they're just too young." Ruby Patil gazed at them sympathetically.
Her fellow housemates nodded along with her, "Their auras are weak. If they don't get proper sleep, they will be vulnerable to many magical creatures." Lovegood stated, his whimsical voice made the Slytherins snort.
The four children made it to the great hall, but they heard a voice call out the Potter siblings before they could enter. Historia, Harry, and Ron groaned while Hermione brightened. "I was hoping to catch you two. I was unable to tell you my whole story on the banshee I caught in Whales. Though I'm sure that you read all about it in my book, I even wrote a chapter about it in my autobiography, 'Magical Me.'" He gave them what he must have thought was a megawatt smile.
Historia glanced at the teacher with a blank face, "I'm sorry, professor, we have been too busy reading the informative texts that the other professors assigned that we haven't had time to read any of your debatably amazing works."
The students laughed, surprised that the girl was able to put him down in such a manner that no one could say she was rude.
"She said he is full of shit!" Bella laughed, as did the rest of the seventh year.
Minerva wanted to scold her language, but it took all her willpower to stop herself from laughing along with her students.
Her voice was kind, but her words were not, and the last part of her sentence sounded sarcastic.
However, it seemed the teacher did not pick up her clues, "Well, that is no matter, it is always better to hear the stories straight from the mouth than to read them on paper."
"Wow, he is full of himself. Don't you think so, Gabion?"
"He most certainly is, Fideon."
They watched as Lockhart placed his hands on both the Potter's shoulders, ignoring their uncomfortable looks, and began telling them about the banshee he slew. Slowly they began to fade as the apparition ended.
Minerva cleared her throat and looked down at her watch, frowning when she realized that the apparitions left only fifteen minutes before lunch. "All right, let's head back to class; we can spend a few minutes on the theory of animagus's before the period ends." She began walking towards the classroom, turning around every once in a while when she heard laughter.
All the students talked to each other; there was an awkwardness between the Gryffindors and the Slytherins, but they were not outright hexing each other, so she let them be. When the bell rang, they made their way to the great hall for lunch, excited to tell their housemates about the apparitions they saw.
Once the day ended and classes were over, the marauders were able to talk about Harry, their fellow housemates joining in on the conversation. James was telling the story for the fifth time when Sirius shouted out, "Why don't we just use a Pensieve, that way, everyone can view the memory, and we don't have to keep repeating it."
"That's a good idea, Padfoot, and dad taught me how to use one." James was bursting with excitement.
Remus rolled his eyes at James's stupidity, "You don't have a Pensieve, James, remember?"
Both James and Sirius deflated, making the people around them laugh.
"Don't look so down, mate," Fabian threw an arm around James, "We have one in our dorm."
Gideon laughed as he flung his arm around Sirius, "Once we get to the common room, we can set it up by the fire."
James almost tackled them out of joy. He could see his son again! As they rushed to Gryffindor tower, they didn't notice the two Slytherins that had overheard their conversation. Regulus and Rabastan shared a look before heading to the dungeons.
Once the Pensieve was set up, Fabian and Gideon pulled the memory from James and set it in the Pensieve; they then put their memory's in too, smiling when they saw the confused looks they were getting.
"We had an apparition about Harry, too." 'And your daughter,' Gideon thought twice before deciding to keep it a surprise, his twin thinking the same thing.
Before they entered the Pensieve, the marauders were approached by three girls, who gave James a big hug. The three girls were Melody McKinnon, Jasmine Lexington, and Stella Adler were like the marauders' little sisters. They were always pulling pranks on each other or the Slytherins.
"I'm so happy for you, James!" Stella squealed, "Can I be the godmother? Please, please, please!" James laughed, ruffling her hair, "Wait until the kid is born, Elle." He pinched her cheek while she fixed her hair, smirking when she pouted and whined at him to stop.
"Gather round everybody," Gideon shouted, looking at all the Gryffindor's, "All you have to do is place one finger on the Pensieve, then we will be able to see the proof that James and Lily did the nasty."
Lily let out a scoff while the rest of the house laughed.
Following his directions, everyone fell into James' memory. They gasped at Harry, marveling at how similar he looked to James.
Jasmine nudged Melody and Stella before pointing at Snape, "He looks like an overgrown bat!" The girls giggled but stopped when they heard how he talked to Neville.
Alice stiffened once more but calmed down when she felt Lily and Marlene's hands on her shoulder.
When Harry mentioned that he didn't know about other magic schools, Stella looked at James confused, "Why wouldn't he know that?"
James shrugged, not thinking too deeply about his son's lack of information, even though he had the same question earlier. "I'm not sure, but it doesn't matter. There is no better school than Hogwarts." They all silently agreed with him. Hogwarts was home for everybody.
"I wonder who Historia is; the three of them obviously care a lot about her if they are willing to sneak into the kitchens," Melody questioned.
Sirius threw an arm around her, something that annoyed Marlene, and smirked, "We think she might be Harry's girlfriend."
Amelia, Fabion, and Gideon choked on their laughter, trying hard not to draw attention to themselves. Once James' memory ended, Fabian and Gideon's memories started.
"Oh, I remember this lesson, the little mice were so cute!" Alice gushed, making Lily and Marlene smile.
All the Gryffindor's froze when the cute little girl walked in; Lily gasped loudly and moved closer to the little girl.
The marauders scoffed at the professor's story, "Who does this guy think he is?" Sirius snorted while Remus rolled his eyes at the man's tall tale, "You can't just blast a werewolf away."
The little girl's seat was close to the marauders, so Lily held in her annoyance for Potter and his band of misfits and walked over to them. James smiled brightly and made room for her to get closer to the little girl, who was currently slightly struggling to get up on her seat. Lily cooed at how the desk was too big for the little girl and how she had to sit on her knees to see the board and her desk's top.
James stiffened slightly when the girl began talking to the boy next to her. A sudden urge to protect the girl went through him, but the practical side of his brain told him that the boy and his rat were harmless.
"Did he just say that he drove a car into a tree?" Lily asked. Her worried expression told James that driving a car into a tree was a bad thing, whatever a car was.
Lily squealed with joy when the girl was able to transfigure her mouse on the first try. Sirius whistled, "She's got talent. She got that from you prongs."
James smirked while Lily glared, "Of course, I'm very talented at transfiguration, so any child of mine would be good at it."
"And what makes you think that she is your daughter?" Lily looked livid, she expected James to answer, but the twins interrupted them, "Lily, darling, just watch the memory."
She turned around and smiled when McGonagall praised her daughter but froze when she heard her name. Everyone was silent as they turned to look at a speechless James and a stunned Lily. Sirius held five fingers in the air, and once all his fingers were down, James began to cheer.
Lily let out a distressed sound, "You've got to be joking!"
At the same time, James began fawning over his daughter, "I told you we would end up together, my Lily-flower. Our son looks just like me, and our daughter looks like you! She is so adorable!"
'That is true,' Sirius thought as he observed the little girl, 'her hair is just like Evans, but it's thick like James', kinda messy too but a cute mess. She has more sophisticated features than Evans; she looks like a pure-blood. Her eyes are a brighter green, with just a hint of hazel.' Sirius could tell that once she grew up, she would be gorgeous.
"We're going to have to work hard to keep boys away from her, Prongs," Sirius said seriously.
James tensed and began glaring at all the boys in the room.
Lily sighed, faintly amused by his actions before realizing something, "Hang on, why is she in a second-year class? She doesn't even look like she should be going to Hogwarts!"
Remus nodded, "I've been thinking about that too. I didn't even know that they made school uniforms that small."
They all smiled as Historia offered her wand to her friend, then laughed at the conversation that seemed natural between the four children. "Your daughter is so nice, Lily, and she seems to be one of the best in class too." Marlene chirped.
Alice agreed but mainly watched her son try and transfigure his mouse, 'He did get my nervousness. I'm sorry, Nev.'
They followed the four as they made their way to the great hall; they were all shocked to hear that the two were on the quidditch team.
James and Sirius were jumping around, cheering on the two while Lily bit her lip from nerves, 'Aren't they a bit young to play on the team? Well, maybe not Harry, but Historia is only nine!'
"My children are so talented! I bet they are the best players in school!" James was practically vibrating with joy. Sirius was eyeing the two, trying to figure out what positions they would play, "I think Harry is a chaser, and Historia is a seeker. They have the right builds." He turned to James, matching his excitement, "You do realize that Historia broke the record for youngest quidditch player ever, right?" Remus and Peter smiled at their friends' behavior and joined in the conversation.
They focused back in when a teacher came up to the siblings; neither seemed too impressed by him. The Gryffindors were stunned at the response Historia had given the professor. Most had to clutch their sides from the pain of laughing so hard. "She sounds so sweet, but she practically called his books trash!" Remus gasped for air, leaning heavily on Sirius, who was shaking violently, "Merlin, I love my goddaughter!"
"Pity he didn't get the hint," Lily pouted, feeling for her children. James and Sirius growled at the older man when he placed his hands around Harry and Historia's shoulders; they both looked uncomfortable.
Once out of the Pensieve, the Gryffindors broke off into groups after offering their congratulations to the future parents. Lily hovered around James for a second before deciding that she still couldn't forgive him for what he and his friends did last year, not yet. She managed a small smile and then rushed upstairs. Marlene and Alice shared a look before bidding everyone goodnight and following after her. James felt a warmth spread over him. Lily had smiled at him! 'These apparitions are amazing!'
The Slytherins were gathered in their common room, conversing lightly about the apparitions. Snape seemed to be in a foul mood; the implication that Lily and Potter could be married in the future and have children disgusted him. He sat next to Regulus and Rabastan, telling them about what he saw in potions.
"Why don't you guys just show us? Rabastan and I overheard the Gryffindorks say that they would show the others their memories using a Pensieve; we could try that." Regulus suggested talking to both the sixth and seventh-years.
Rodolphus nodded, silently summoning his Pensieve. He put his and Severus's memories in the Pensieve, and the whole of Slytherin viewed both apparitions.
When they were finished, the events with Potter's daughter and her attitude towards Lockhart mostly amused the younger years. Severus seemed a bit pale to his roommates, but they supposed that it is his worst nightmare that Lily and Potter would end up together.
'How can she marry him?' Severus thought, distressed. 'Though I'm not surprised, it was only a matter of time.' His hatred towards James worsened, but he mostly hated himself. He practically pushed her towards him after last year's incident.
While Severus was contemplating his past mistakes, Narcissa and Bellatrix were talking about Harry and Historia. "I can't believe that filthy mudblood gave birth to such a magically talented girl." Bella fumed. Narcissa nodded along. She only knew of her son, Draco, who she saw in potions. 'I wonder if I have a little girl too? That would be nice.' She glanced at Lucius, who stood with Rodolphus on the other side of the room. Both their fathers had arranged their marriage, but she had been in love with him since she arrived at Hogwarts.
Bella also glanced at her fiance, admiring his looks. She knew that they would get married as soon as the school year ended, and she couldn't wait. 'I wonder if we have any children? We must have at least a few.'
The boys, however, were discussing Historia's enrollment in school. "I don't get why she is a second-year if she is only nine. That means she came to school almost three years before she was supposed to." Rabastan stressed, looking at his older brother for an answer.
Rodolphus shared a look with Lucius before sighing deeply, "She seems to have a bit more developed magic than most children her age; perhaps she had to come to school early."
Dolohov brought up a fact that they were all trying to avoid, "You know, for the spawn of a mudblood, she was quite beautiful."
Regulus and Rabastan shuffled in their spot, neither wanting to admit that what he said was true. Lucius and Rodolphus glared at the sixth-year, despite agreeing with him; the girl, unfortunately, looked like she was a proper pure-blood. Severus had chosen that moment to head to bed, all the while wondering if she would look just as pretty if she were his and Lily's child. Would she still be as kind and thoughtful?
He threw himself onto his bed and drew the curtains, giving himself much-needed privacy. Severus had a fitful sleep that night, his guilt and resentment eating him up.
Lady Hogwarts smiled at her lions, happy that they were getting along nicely. She traded a smirk with Rowena and Helga at the lessened hostility Lily had for James. "Perhaps, they might get together sooner?"
Rowena scoffed, "It will take a lot more than that to change the redhead's mind." Helga nodded, "But she does seem to be warming up to him! They make such a lovely couple!"
Salazar and Godric were watching as the three ladies gossiped amongst themselves. They had been amused at Historia's sarcastic nature, even though she was a kindhearted girl. Once the girls calmed down, the spirits began to plan the next apparition, "We should do some of the important ones. The sooner the students find out their future, the better. Young Regulus and Rabastan are planning to get their marks during the winter holidays. We only have a few months."
With that in mind, the spirits began shifting through future events, picking moments to reshape the student's views.
