MIDORIYA
What should I wear? Does it matter? It's cold as hell outside but I still want to look good. I hear my phone ring as I finally decide on some jeans and long sleeve shirt.
"Hey Shinsou, you rarely call me," I greet. Shinsou is more a text person. He will even email over chatting on the phone.
"I know," he sighs. "I'm so annoyed with all these couples around me. Want to come to my house and watch anti valentine day movies. I'm thinking a Friday the 13thmarathon." I chuckled.
"I wish you had said something sooner," I reply. "I actually have plans."
"Plans?" he questions. "Since when?"
"Since 5 minutes," I reply dropping my school pants.
"Last minute," states Shinsou. "You bet not tell me you're meeting up with Todoroki." I fall trying to put my jeans on. My phone lands further away from me.
"Ow….." I whine.
"Midoriya, are you okay?" asks Shinsou. His phone sounds so far away thanks to my fall.
"Hold on!" I cry out. I stand up putting my pants on properly. I grab the phone putting him on speaker. "Sorry I fell."
"I heard," he replied. "You should be more careful." I sit the phone down unbuttoning my shirt. "You didn't answer my question." I bit my lip as I pull my long sleeve shirt over my head.
"We are meeting up," I reply.
"Midoriya," sighs Shinsou. "Why are you doing this to yourself? You know you like him."
"I don't," I reply grabbing my coat.
"Fine, keep lying to yourself," he replies. He isn't wrong. But I have to keep telling myself that I don't. It will be hard if I admit it…..
"Todoroki has a boyfriend," I explain. "He's not thinking about me like that. He told me the kiss was an accident. He doesn't even know what happened."
"You both are talking like I brainwashed you into having a drunk kiss," says Shinsou. "Nobody does some shit like that without realizing what is happening." I roll my eyes knowing he is not going to budge. I grab my wallet shoving it in my jeans.
"Look I can't go into details, but he is having a bad day," I replied.
"How?" asked Shinsou. "Shouldn't he be spending time with his boyfriend?"
"They got into a fight okay," I reply. "Stop being nosy and judgmental." I head out of my dorm ensuring the door is locked. My key is in my coat pocket.
"You can't be serious?" states Shinsou. "He had a fight with his boyfriend, you guys are going and on Valentine's Day."
"It sounds bad when you say it like that…." I mutter.
"I'm looking out for you man," he replies. "You go do whatever. I am going to watch my horror flicks. Bye." Shinsou hangs up before I can even respond. Ugh I know he is upset. I'm sorry….. I get to the front of the dorm entrance seeing Todoroki beat me there. He notices me and waves his hand. I can't stop the smile from spreading on my face. When I get closer I catch the scent of the cologne I brought him.
"So got any plans?" he asks.
"Let's just drive and see where it takes us," I suggest.
"Cool," replies Todoroki. "I like the fact you are being adventurous." Me? Adventurous? I just want to be in his presence. "I am hungry."
"We can eat but you know everywhere is going to crowded," I reply.
"True," he replies. "However, I'm a Todoroki." I laugh as I follow him to his car. He may not like his dad but he sure does make sure Todoroki has everything he needs. The car is not super expensive but really nice. I get into the car realizing it has soft leather seats. "Feel free to turn on the seat warmers." I look down seeing a button. I push it because it is cold. Todoroki pulls out of his parking space. "You got a taste for anything?"
"Not really," I reply. "You know what you want?"
"After the day I had I want my soba," he states. "There is a place I like to go but it is closer to the house."
"It's fine," I reply. "I'm sure we will be back on campus by curfew."
"Curfew," scuffs Todoroki. "I can't wait until I don't have to worry about that anymore."
"Why?" I ask. "I don't mind it. I mean there isn't much to do at night in my opinion." Todoroki glances at me.
"You must not go out a lot," he states. "For me all the fun stuff happens at night." I blush trying to figure out what does he mean by fun stuff. I can only think of one thing…. I rub my cheeks. God, he seems so advanced and grown. "I wasn't talking about just sex by the way."
"Whatever," I replied still embarrassed. Todoroki chuckles clearly amused. Glad someone is enjoying themselves.
"I'm going to go by the store to get my new phone first," he explains. "God forbid my father tries to reach out to me."
"We certainly don't want that happening," I reply. I have seen how his dad can be. I don't want him to get in trouble or deal with any further stress. The car falls silent for a moment before Todoroki hits me with a random question.
"I will assume you never had a boyfriend?" he asked.
"What does that have to do with anything?" I ask feeling embarrassed.
"I was curious," states Todoroki. "You always act so nervous. I'm not going to hurt you."
"I never said you was," I reply still not liking his question. I have no experience with relationships at all. I don't know why but I don't want him to know that.
"Sorry if I made you uncomfortable," he replies. "I actually trust you. I want you to trust me." I am surprised to hear this.
"You do?" I question. Todoroki nods his head.
"You kept my secret," he replies. "You're incredibly supportive although we didn't meet officially until last year. You never say anything mean or discouraging to me. For me to ignore you, yet you embraced me with open arms this evening. You didn't have to, but you did." Just that quickly he made me feel special. Todoroki goes to the store to get his phone. It is a rather quick process since the store is mostly empty. I am glad they were able to get him set up that evening. We finally arrive to the restaurant Todoroki wanted to eat at. He walks inside and the place is packed wall to wall. "Todoroki, table for two." I look at Todoroki confused.
"Yes Mr. Todoroki we got your request," replies the hostess. "We don't have private rooms but we did get you a section that allows privacy."
"Thank you," replies Todoroki. When the hell did he make reservations, I missed all of that. We get a nice booth in the corner of the restaurant right by a window. He gets seated and I sit across from him. "They ramen as well as udon."
"Wow," I replied. It's rare I see a restaurant serve udon, ramen and soba.
"That is why I love this place," he replies. "Take your time no rush." I look over the menu quickly finding a red curry ramen that sounds yummy. Todoroki pulls out his phone. I don't know what he is doing but I can tell he is stressed. The server comes up taking our orders and only then does he put up his phone. Soon as they leave, I decide to ask a question I have wanting to ask him.
"Todoroki can I ask you a question?" I ask softly. He nods. "I noticed your mom wasn't at your party. Was she busy that night? You don't have to answer. I personally don't have a close relationship with dad at all. He always worked so much." Todoroki looks at me like he is thinking.
"Same," he replies. I guess he is talking about the relationship with his dad. "My mom probably couldn't attend. It's no big deal." I can tell he is shutting me off and I let it go. I know I don't really like talking about my dad. "So, what are you doing when we graduate?" I appreciate Todoroki changing the subject.
"Well I'm going to college," I reply. "I have already been accepted to 3 schools." He raises an eyebrow.
"That's great," he replies. "Know which one you want to go to?"
"I haven't decided," I reply. "It depends on if I am going to live on campus or off campus. I mean if I live off campus, I would have to get a job. I don't know if I can handle working and going to school."
"I think you could handle it," says Todoroki. "Don't sell yourself short." I smile with him smiling back. Our food finally arrives, and we are talking about movies we want to see this summer. Todoroki starts to tell me about his plans. He is not sure if he wants to go to college. He wants to start hero work right away to move out of his dad house. He wants his own place too. I can't help but admire him for that. By the time we leave the restaurant crowd has picked up even more. "Man, I can't believe people are going out this late. They must not have to work or go to school tomorrow."
"Right," I laughed. "So now what? You're full now, what do you want to do?" Todoroki is thinking.
"Anything I want?" he asks. I nod. "Playground."
"Playground," I chuckle. "You can't be serious."
"I'm very serious," he replies. "I never got to play a lot as a kid, and something tells me I will enjoy that with you." He is right about that. As a child I had a very active imagination.
"Yeah fine let's do it," I reply. During the drive snow starts to fall.
"Really…" drones Todoroki. "It's snowing so I'm going to head back to the school."
"Okay," I reply. "I certainly don't want anyone out looking for us."
"Exactly," replies Todoroki.
"Maybe we will get a snow day tomorrow," I say smiling a little.
"I wouldn't mind that one bit," he replies. "I could use a break. You know mid-terms are coming up."
"I'm sure your stuff in the hero course is really tough," I note.
"Not for me," he replies. "Ugh I wish we didn't have to go back yet."
"We can still hang out," I suggest. "Did you want to come back to my dorm?"
"No," he replies surprising me. "I want to go back to mine. I want to watch some stuff."
"Stuff?" I chuckle.
"Shut up," he laughs. "I'm kind of tired too. I don't want to do a lot of thinking."
"Okay," I reply. "I wonder does your dorms look different from ours."
"Not really," he replies. "I fixed mine up myself. I like for my space to be clean and relaxed." Fixed up, what is that suppose to mean. Todoroki gets parked with the ground already covered in a blanket of snow. "I think we might get a snow day after all."
"If not, you can make more snow right," I joke.
"I make ice thank you very much," says Todoroki. I get nervous as we get closer to his building. He uses his badge before we head inside. I notice their lounge area has a few people. I recognize his classmate Ojiro and Ashido, Hagakure. They look at Todoroki as he continues to lead me to the elevator. Todoroki gets on the elevator as if we weren't be stared at.
"Do you think they are going to say something?" I ask.
"Say something about what?" he asks. "We are just hanging out." I know but why does it feel like this something more.
