MIDORIYA
I am beaming on the inside. Is it strange? Todoroki was jealous. I shouldn't be happy as that is not a sign of love at all. I think it was the fact Todoroki was scared to lose me. He never told me who the classmate was that likes me. I talk to more than half of them on Facebook from time to time. We arrive to the gaming center that they wanted to meet up at. Todoroki as usual is going to take care of me tonight paying for everything. I really need to find a job and fast. We head inside with me spotting Ojiro. He waves at us.
"Todoroki, you came," he replies. Todoroki nods.
"I'm sure you remember Midoriya," he states.
"I do," he replies. "How are you?"
"Good," I reply. "How the job going at the training center?"
"Training center?" questions Todoroki.
"Yeah," chuckles Ojiro. "I decided not to be a hero, but I do work at a training center. If I didn't go to U.A. I honestly think they would have passed me over. I don't do anything to hard. I help parents sign their children up for early training."
"Oh," says Todoroki. "I had no idea." Ojiro nods.
"Come on, let me show you where everyone is," he replies. "We have four tables reserved still seems like it is not enough." I follow him seeing Ashido talking to Shinsou. I get so excited I break away from Todoroki and Ojiro.
"Shinsou!" I exclaim jogging over. Shinsou sees me cracking a smile. I hug him tightly.
"Ah so it's that kind of relationship," says Ashido. I look at her.
"What!" I exclaim.
"She's joking," replies Shinsou. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Oh I came with Todoroki," I explain turning to see where he is. I see Todoroki standing as Kirishima seems to be talking a mile a minute. "Seems like most of your classmates showed up Ashido."
"For sure," she replies. "After going to U.A. and staying in the dorms everyone feels like one big dysfunctional family." I nod my head completely understanding. It wasn't too many people in my class I was close with. "Can I order some food?"
"Sure," says Shinsou handing her some money from his wallet.
"Thanks!" she exclaims kissing his cheek causing him to blush. She smirks before walking off. I look at Shinsou grinning. He doesn't notice right away because he is gazing after Ashido. Shinsou finally stares at me before glancing away.
"You did it!" I exclaim whispering.
"Shut up!" whispers Shinsou. "It just happened today."
"Oh my god!" I exclaim before covering my mouth. Shinsou blushes nodding his head yes.
"God I can't believe you were right," he mutters. "You noticed immediately."
"Sorry," I whisper. "It's hard not to."
"How are things going for you?" he asks. "We can get back to me in a minute."
"Okay," I reply. "I'm still struggling to find a job."
"It can be hard out there," he admits. "I was lucky enough get a paid internship at an agency. They were the only one willing to give me a chance." Shinsou sighs. It is much harder for him since he went to U.A. but wasn't in the hero course all 3 years.
"You will do great," I say encouragingly. Shinsou gives me a small smile. He looks off behind me.
"Todoroki is staring at you," he states.
"He is?" I question turning around. Todoroki quickly looks away. Shinsou raises an eyebrow as Uraraka makes her way over to us.
"Hey Midoriya!" she waves. "I am so glad you are here." She wraps her arms around me hugging tightly. She smells nice. Like flowers.
"Hi Uraraka," I smile pulling out of the hug. "How is work going?"
"It's going great actually," she replies. "U.A. prepared us well." She turns her attention to Shinsou. "How is college?"
"It's whatever," he replies with a shrug. Uraraka giggles.
"So Deku, have you played any games?" she asks.
"Oh no," I reply. "I just got here."
"Come on!" she encourages grabbing my hand. "Let's play on the motorcycles."
"Motorcycles!" I exclaim as she drags me along. That is completely surprised. I wouldn't have thought that would be her kind of game. "Wait I don't have my game card yet."
"I got you," says Uraraka pulling out her card. Before I can stop her she pays for a game for each of us. I become a little nervous as I have never done anything like this before. Uraraka mounts the fake motorcycle. "It's just like riding a bike." I stop staring at her mounting my own bike.
"This feels so weird," I chuckle nervously.
"I know," she replies. "I played Asui and Kaminair earlier. I did the best out of everyone."
"Wow," I reply. Uraraka begins to explain to me how to select my motor cycle on the screen. We select a track and the game begins. Only would I manage to crash several times, but it was still fun to try. Uraraka takes me to the basketball game next. I joked that she was using her quirk she did so well.
"They have a photo booth," says Uraraka. "Did you want to take a picture?"
"Um sure," I reply. Uraraka puts in some money before we climb into the booth. It recommends poses for us to do and we do them all trying to hold in our giggles. "That was great!" Uraraka is still laughing.
"It is," she replied. "Did you order anything to eat?"
"I didn't get a chance to," I reply glancing around. "I lost track of Todoroki."
"Oh," says Uraraka. "I'm sure he is somewhere around here. Did you want to order?"
"I want to make sure Todoroki hasn't started our tab," I reply. I shake my head. "His dad pays for everything, so he has the money."
"I get it," says Uraraka. "He can't be too hard to find. Let's see if we can locate him." Uraraka and I begin to walk around looking for Todoroki. "So Deku…..I was wondering if you are free next Saturday."
"I will be after trying the food menu with my mom," I explain still searching for Todoroki. "Why?"
"Well, I was hoping we could go out," she says shyly. I stop walking focusing on Uraraka. She is actually blushing as much as I am.
"Oh jeez," I manage to say after uncomfortable silence. "You're so nice….."
"Too nice?" she asks sadly.
"N-no, you're perfect," I reply. "I'm already seeing someone." Oh god, why did I say that!
"I'm so sorry!" she exclaims. "I had no idea."
"It's okay," I reply. "I like to keep my personal life private if possible."
"I understand," she replies starting to walk again. "Your mom is about to be a Todoroki after all." My stomach twists up just hearing that. "There he is." I see Todoroki playing a fighting video game. I think it is Street Fighter. He is playing against Shouji. Todoroki looks like he is really good at it. We walk closer in time to see Todoroki deliver the final blow.
"Seriously!" exclaims Mineta. "I can't believe you let him win."
"I didn't," replies Shoijo through one of his technical. Mineta shakes his head.
"Beginners luck!" Mineta exclaims. Todoroki turns around looking at me.
"Hey," he says.
"Oh, don't stop on my count," I replied.
"We wanted to order food," explains Uraraka. Yeah that's right, I needed money. Todoroki goes into his wallet pulling out his credit card. This card is actual his. Todoroki has his own account now that he is working. I take the card still feeling guilty I'm not working. Todoroki leans down whispering in my ear.
"Don't worry," he whispers. "You will find work, promise." I blush nodding before walking away. He didn't say anything wrong but feeling his breathe on my skin. Him knowing how I was feeling in that exact moment without me saying a word.
"You okay?" asked Uraraka looking at me a little puzzled.
"Oh yeah," I replied. "Just a little hot. Um do you know what you want to eat?"
"I'm thinking maybe some nachos," she replies. We get to a table sitting down. I admire how she is still so upbeat despite me turning her down for a date. She was sad for a minute and bounced right back. Asui sits down next to her.
"Hi Midoriya," she greets. "I see you're having a good time."
"Great time," I replied. "Have you all exchanged information yet?"
"In between catching up," she replies. "Kirishima and Bakugou seem to have the most action going on as of right now."
"Not sure if I should consider that lucky," I replied. A server comes up to take our order. Uraraka orders a loaded nacho will Asui opts for just a burger with fries. "Can I get an unsweetened tea, a sweet tea, and two turkey burgers with fries." The server writes everything down running off to place our order with the kitchen.
"That's a lot of food," says Asui.
"Oh no, I order for Todoroki too," I explain.
"You know what he would want?" asked Uraraka. "He was such a picky eater at lunch." I chuckle because he is a food snob.
"There is nothing here he would really eat to be honest," I reply. "If there was anything, he would want it would be the turkey burger."
"You're such a good brother," smiles Asui. I blush rubbing the back of my neck as the server drops off drinks. "How is your summer so far?"
"Pretty rough," I admit. "It's not terrible but I am having a hard time finding a job."
"You are?" asks Uraraka. "My job is hiring. I mean not actual heroes, but they have some actual desk positions if you are interested. I could put in a recommendation."
"You would do that?" I ask. She nods her head yes while smiling. God if I wasn't with Todoroki she would definitely be the next best choice for sure. Uraraka begins to explain the different positions they have but she isn't clear on which one is open. I don't really care because getting a job in general would be great. The food arrives and I excuse myself to go grab Todoroki. He appears to be himself at the moment. I stop walking and watch him for a moment. He is playing some finger fire game or something. I have never played it. I walk up to him. "Shouto…"
"I was wondering when you would come over," he states not taking his eye off the screen.
"You knew I was standing there?" I ask.
"Of course," he replies. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah," I reply. "Ordered you some food." Todoroki looks away from the game.
"You did?" he asks.
"Well yeah," I reply before chuckling. "The whole reason you gave me the card. Besides you worked today. I know you're hungry." Todoroki smiles at me.
"Let's go wash our hands," he replies. I nod following him into the bathroom. We get our hands washed heading to the table. Uraraka is half way through her nachos.
"Todoroki," she smiles.
"Hey," he says sitting down.
"Did Deku tell you how I am putting in a recommendation for him at my job?" she asks.
"I didn't get to tell him yet!" I exclaim. Uraraka chuckles.
"I'm super excited!' she exclaims.
"I bet," mutters Todoroki grabbing a fry.
"Um yeah it will just be desk work," I reply. "I could use the help with getting a good job."
"It does help to have a recommendation," says Todoroki. He won't look at me. I can tell he is envious although he has nothing to worry about. I grab his hand under the table. I can see his eyes light up a little.
I continue to stare at Todoroki. I can see that he is relaxing. We chat with his classmates a bit more learning more information. I know Todoroki is storing all of it away for a rainy day. Todoroki is quiet after we leave the arcade. He didn't even talk during the ride home. I don't say anything because I don't know what to say. Once we arrived home it is rather intensely quiet. I sigh because I'm worried about him.
