Lots to do, lots to cover in this chapter and so much more to come.
Really, not much I can talk about overall. I just really wanna get into this one cause I wanna keep going on the traction I have right now.
First three Pokémon have been established, hooray.
And the unique group will continue to grow.
Hope my first official Pokémon battle was conveyed properly enough. This is after all my first one ever.
But I admit, I didn't really give a proper shout out to the anime and the whacky battles that took place in it. It's just I'm going to be more focused on the Manga aspect of the way battles were depicted in Adventures. Much more unique and bizarre but also just fascinating and technical as it's not just the moves that are taken into effect but the surrounding area as well.
And as for how Starly knows Seismic Toss, in the Manga and in other video games of the Pokémon series like the mystery dungeons, certain Pokémon were able to learn moves that they could not in the mainline Pokémon games. That, and I figure that a bird line as badass as Starly's that would become Staraptor and learn the move Brave Bird, figured something like Seismic Toss would be right up its alley.
Anywho, other than that let's continue on with the story.

Pocket Monsters Chapter 6: Dangerous Encounters.
"Ha~" Was the tired exhale from one Cal Kestis who flopped down onto his back on the soft grass beneath him.
There was a sheen of sweat visible on his forehead as he allowed his body a moment's respite after a grueling series of activities.
What activities you may ask?
Training of course.
Self-training really.
With his Pokémon helping him out whilst also training themselves.
And it was quite the little makeshift regime that he had made for himself.
A healthy dose of free running, lightsaber wielding, meditation and so on and so forth from everything he had that he was able to draw from in previous training sessions and experiences.
It was rather refreshing really to be doing something like this.
He felt considerably lighter actually.
To him, it made him think that maybe he needed something like this. More than he realized.
It had been a while comparatively speaking since he did any sort of training really.
All he did was meditate a few times these past few weeks.
Sighing to himself, Cal leaned back onto the grass and laid there in a more relaxed fashion.
It wasn't long until he felt two weights on his stomach and chest.
The chest weight really wasn't much, just a small pair of clawed feet that were nestled atop him. It was the one on his stomach that knocked the wind out of him slightly.
"Urgh~ Hopper?" Cal groaned. "Why?"
Hopper didn't respond verbally. Instead he saw the usual goofy smile in place. He shook his head in amusement at his carefree Pokémon and looked over to his side to see Kaiju sitting next to his head.
"Nice work everyone." Cal said with a small smile. "Looks like those notes and the Pokedex are really paying off, huh?"
For a while now, after the battle he had with Brock, Cal realized that he was woefully underprepared for this place.
Far more so than his initial thoughts since coming here.
At first he had figured it was the Pokémon that may prove to be this planet's biggest challenge and to a degree, they more than likely will be just that.
But Cal had a creeping suspicion that his biggest challenges would come in regards to the people who train the Pokémon the way Brock does.
A day after the battle, the Pewter City Gym Leader encountered Cal the Pokemart.
He struck up a small conversation with the Padawan and the two spoke in a friendly manner to one another.
Brock then learned of Cal's overall fresh introduction to the world of Pokémon and was genuinely surprised by the skill the Jedi had displayed.
Regardless, Brock didn't deny any of these claims that he had told him and volunteered to give him some assistance.
He broke down the whole type advantages and such to a greater degree and spoke of the Pokémon gyms and their specialties.
A fascinating discovery that Cal had learned was the whole notion of Gym badges being an indicator for how many Pokémon are utilized per Gym Leader.
When asked to clarify, Brock simply said that if Cal were to go to any other Gym and state that he had no badge they would only combat him with two Pokémon and one of their more weaker ones.
Hearing that made Cal falter slightly.
"That Graveler and Golem sure didn't seem that weak." Cal muttered with a strained voice.
Brock only chuckled at this. "Well my options were becoming a bit limited since most of my other Pokémon were taken out so early."
In the end it was a pleasant exchange between the two as Cal had learned a greater deal about Pokémon directly from someone just a few years older than him.
Right now though, Cal just wanted to take a moment's respite.
Like really rest up.
Cause he had a creeping suspicion in his gut that he wasn't gonna get a lot of these in the coming future.
Feeling his bird Pokémon shift about on his chest to get more comfortable, he lazily reached up to stroke Arc's head a few times.
His Starly was quite the combatant as he had found out in these small training sessions.
Yup, he found out what his newest Pokémon's species was.
It was a day or two after his Gym battle with Brock when he had contacted Professor Oak again. He felt a small surge of pride surprisingly by displaying the Boulder Badge he had won with Oak praising him for his apparent skill and capabilities.
The Professor commented on Cal being a natural with his Pokémon and expects great things out of him.
On top of that, Oak had brought up the mention of what Arc was and where it was he had momentarily migrated from.
It was from a far off region that Oak said was further North from Kanto.
The place was called Sinnoh.
And his Pokémon's species was a Starly, a particularly hardy flying type Pokémon from some of the descriptions the Professor gave him.
No surprise there really.
This little guy's feet were all scratched up and bruised from the last fight he had and even then he stood tall. Even with the Pokémon Center helping him heal up, the damage was still visibly there.
After laying there for a little while longer, Cal eventually sat up and casually held Arc and Hopper as he did so for them not to fumble off.
Setting them down next to him, the Jedi Padawan gazed ahead where he saw the path that would lead him to the next town over.
Ceru-something Cal believed it to be called.
He brought up his Pokedex and turned on its map feature.
"Cerulean City." Cal said to himself as he gazed towards the pathway that led to the eastern exit of Pewter.
Thinking over his next course of action, he opted to stand back up and stretch his limbs out with satisfactory feel of his bones popping back into place.
He momentarily mulled over on what to do next in Pewter City and he was drawing a blank for the most part.
Cal had spoken with Oak, Red and even briefly with Blue and they had all stated that the best course of action was to move forward from Pewter City.
Aside from the museum here and the Gym, there was not much else left to do for the time being. He had already trained for a few days after his Gym battle with Brock as he knew he still needed to grasp just how it was battle was conducted here.
There was of course the moments of meditation where he felt the same overwhelming presence of the Force that this planet has.
The young Padawan was still at a loss as to what he should even do right now.
Sure helping fill out the Pokedex for Professor Oak kept him busy at the very least and made him learn more about this world.
But then what?
What was he to do after all that?
Once again, Cal held his Master's lightsaber in his hands and clenched it tightly with the corners of his eyes tearing up.
His vision shifted and in an instant, Cal was teleported back to his old ship, the sound of blaster fire and Clones he once called friends turning their weapons on him and his Master.
Gasping to himself, Cal fell onto his back in a cold sweat as he was breathing heavily now.
He bought a trembling hand up to his eye and clenched his teeth tightly as he tried to get himself under control.
There went that positive feeling he had earlier.
"Reh."
Cal felt a rough snout of sorts poke at the side of his head. He already knew who it was and a moment later he felt the presence of two other around him.
"I'm alright guys." Cal said quietly, not moving his one hand from his eyes.
His three Pokémon weren't exactly convinced due to their expressions showing clear concern and worry but they opted to nuzzle up to their trainer rather than step away.
He subconsciously place his other free hand atop Hopper's head while also managing to angle his arm around Arc.
Kaiju simply leaned his head against Cal's and the group just remained there like that for a few moments.
Cal eventually exhaled and moved to stand up his Starly fluttering up in the air and landed on his shoulder whilst his Larvitar and Wooper stared up at him.
"Come on." He said softly. "Let's keep going."
-Scene Cut-
Going along Route 3 to his next destination made Cal feel strangely more alien then he already did when first getting to this planet.
Weirdly enough, it was due to his three Pokémon he opted have out with him rather than in their Poke balls that gave him this feeling.
A majority of the Pokémon inhabiting the route towards the next town were the usual Pidgey's, Rattata's and such with the occasional Pidgeotto, Caterpie, Weedle and their evolved forms.
So having his Larvitar, Wooper and Starly out and about with him really made him stand out.
Several of the trainers he had encountered along the way had even commented on never having seen Pokémon like the one's he has.
Regardless, it really wasn't all that important in hindsight. Just a few stray thoughts that passed through his head as arrived at the next portion of the route that would get him to Cerulean City.
"Mt. Moon." Cal muttered, gazing upon the mountain ahead of him.
Didn't really look like much and it frankly looked far more appealing to him than Mt. Silver.
Here's to hoping that his trek through its caves won't be as chaotic and near deathly as it was on the first mountain side he crashed on.
Shaking his head, Cal walked forward towards the mountain and saw the entrance to the underground caverns ahead.
Right next to the entrance was surprisingly, a Pokémon center.
Wouldn't really hurt to stop for a moment and have his Pokémon rest up. They had after all taken on several trainers along the way here.
Entering the center, Cal was greeted to the sight of.
"Another Nurse Joy?" Cal muttered to himself in utter bewilderment.
That's three in a row now.
Seriously, are they clones or something. They have to be.
All three of them all look exactly the same. There's no way that they aren't Clones.
Force, even the Clones Cal knew at least had some variation and distinction from one another. A hairstyle here, some tattoos there, mismatched eye color or uniquely painted armor.
The three Nurse Joys were legitimately more cloned in appearance than most Clone Troopers he knew. He served in a battalion of them after all.
From what the last two said, they were apparently related by being cousins or something.
So… does that mean… were all the Pokémon centers run by Joys? And they all looked the same?
Exactly the same?
That felt astronomically impossible.
And that was saying something considering the plane the planet he found himself on with the creatures that inhabited it. They could at least be explained through the Force as he felt it radiate off them naturally.
But this was a bit of a stretch.
Quite frankly, this was starting to make his head hurt right about now.
Shaking his head he went up to the counter and gazed up at the Pokémon healer.
"Why hello there." Nurse Joy greeted with a kind smile. "I take it you plan on going through Mt. Moon?"
Cal nodded in confirmation. "Yeah. Just wanna rest up my Pokémon before I do so. Don't wanna take any chances."
"And you're right to do so young man." Joy said approvingly. "This won't take long."
Cal nodded again, placing his Pokémon in her hands as she went over to the device that restored Pokémon to their full health.
Knowing he was going to be here for a few minutes…
"Um, Nurse Joy." Cal awkwardly called out to her.
"Hmmm?"
"Do you… remember me by any chance?" Cal felt incredibly stupid in asking this.
Joy tilted her head in confusion.
"No, I'm quite sure this is the first meeting you and I have had."
"Right, right." Cal shook his head. "It's just that… you look a lot like the Nurse Joy's back in Viridian and Pewter city."
The Nurse blinked with an amused chuckle escaping her lips.
"Really now?" She said with a small smile. "I never really saw it like that. Besides, it's quite easy to tell me apart from my cousin in Viridian and sister in Pewter."
"Uh… how?" Cal dumbly asked.
"I'm two inches taller than them both." Joy said happily.
'That really doesn't answer any of my questions.' Cal internally thought to himself.
"Right, of course." He verbally said, not really knowing how to dispute her.
After a few more minutes of Cal waiting for his Pokémon to heal up there was a small ding indicating the process was well and done.
"There we are." Joy said cheerfully. "Your Pokémon are all healthy and ready for Mt. Moon."
"Thank you." Cal said earnestly, taking his Poke Balls out of her hands and gazed down at the trio.
Through the red tinted domes, they looked up at him with smiles and expressions of determination.
"Oh, and you came at a great time of the week." Nurse Joy said, face brightening up in remembrance.
"Why's that?"
"This is the rumored night of the week that the Pokémon known as Clefairy are to appear at their most frequent." Joy revealed. "They are quite the rare Pokémon to find."
"Really?" Cal murmured in intrigue. "Well thanks again then. For my Pokémon and that little tidbit."
Nurse Joy simply smiled and waved in goodbye.
"Good luck and be careful on your trip." She said in a sisterly manner.
Cal simply gave her a thumbs up and left the center.
-Scene Cut-
Cal was running through the cave of Mt. Moon, lightsaber aloft with Kaiju by his side.
"Force me with the Zubats!" Cal yelled out frustratedly.
It was as if that's all there was that inhabited this blasted cave.
Seriously, they just kept coming.
Without missing a beat, Cal reached out with the Force for a sizably large rock ahead of him and flung it behind him.
The large rock flew through the air and struck down a number of Zubats at once though several more already took their places.
"Oh for KRIFF SAKE." Cal shouted. "That's it. Kaiju, Rockslide!"
"Reh!" His Larvitar didn't hesitate in jumping up to the ceiling above them.
His horn pierced into the rocky overhead and swinging his head forward caused a slight cave in of sorts with rocks reigning down on the Zubats.
Many were buried with others having their wings severely damaged and fell to the ground.
He really didn't wanna do this but this was just too much.
Thankfully that single attack appeared to be enough to finally give him some breathing room.
"Seriously, first the Viridian Forest and now this?" Cal complained to himself.
His Jedi robes weren't gonna last long here if this went on.
Shaking his head, Cal held his lightsaber up to give his surrounding areas some more light.
It appeared that they were alone for the most part.
He saw some movement up ahead on the ground and saw that it was several Geodudes just rolling away from him.
When Cal had entered this place, from the get-go he was able to sense the presence of the Force here.
Like before, in the Viridian Forest, the Force held an exceptionally powerful air here and it heightened his already enhanced senses.
But unlike Viridian, this place was much more calmer and peaceful to a degree with the Force just being if that's how he would describe it.
So why the sudden and vicious attack on him?
Now that he thought about it, this was just sudden and no explanation given.
It was as if the Zubat's had just been set off by something.
"Were they attacked or agitated into going after me?" Cal muttered to himself, briefly looking back at a nearby Zubat that was lying still on the floor.
It was alive as he could see its small chest rising and falling.
Going over to it, he briefly looked over to Kaiju and silently the Larvitar nodded in understanding with him now looking around to make sure nothing got the jump on them.
Kneeling down to the Zubat, Cal placed a hand on its chest and stretched his senses out through the Force.
If he were being honest with himself he didn't exactly know what he was doing right about now. But he did remember seeing and feeling his Master do this on a number of occasions with downed or dead Clones.
He always got an answer or an idea as to what had happened though Cal wasn't exactly sure how it was he did that.
Maybe he'd be able to do the same.
Maybe…
Scrunching up his face in concentration, Cal entered a pseudo meditative state as he tried to figure out why these Zubats attacked him so suddenly.
For a few moments, all he got was just the heavy presence of the Force around him until…
"-Kids need to learn the cruelty of adults!"
Cal violently jerked back in surprise upon hearing such a sinister voice.
He felt a cold sweat go down his spine with a small sheen appearing on his forehead.
Kaiju was by his trainer's side in an instant with him looking considerably worried.
He hated when his trainer would use his strange powers and ended up like this.
"What was that?" Cal asked himself.
It was… almost like it was an echo of some kind.
From the Force.
And whose voice was that?
Whatever that was, Cal took a gander and thought maybe that voice was responsible for agitating the Pokémon here.
Question was, what did this person do and what exactly happened here?
Thinking back to Pewter City, before leaving, the Padawan remembered seeing Red leave ahead of him with Blue having gone far before either of them.
For a brief time, Red stuck around with Cal and continued to show him how to handle Pokémon training and such. He was grateful for what he had learned under his fellow Pokedex holder and had opted to stay behind for a time to get more accustomed to what he had learned.
Red went ahead of him and he hadn't seen him since.
Since this is the only path to the next City it was easy to assume that both Red and Blue had come through here.
So… are they still here?
This place is a bit like a maze of sorts.
Maybe they were lost.
Cal shook the thought out of his head rather quickly.
No, those two appeared quite competent and confident both in their own skills and that their Pokémon could get them out of any situation.
Still he at least figured an outside force caused the Pokémon here to be angered.
He knew there could be a chance of it or maybe "they" still being around so he wasn't gonna take any chances.
Going further into the cavern, Cal had called out all three of his Pokémon by this point.
Arc was perched up on his shoulder and was facing behind him to cover his rear.
Hopper jumped alongside the Padawan with Kaiju leading the pack.
Cal kept his lightsaber on and over his head to provide them with light as he went further into the cave.
Along the way he encountered a new Pokémon he had never seen before and the Pokedex identified it as Paras.
Interesting creatures these Pokémon continued to be.
He eventually reached a point in the cave where there was a ladder built into the wall that would allow him to scale down to the level below.
Not seeing any other alternatives to go forward he saw that the ground wasn't that far below him.
Jumping forward, Cal fell all the way down and landed gracefully on the ground.
Arc had let out a few chirps of surprise with his wings lightly slapping Cal's face.
"Oomph! Arc!"
His Starly however would not hear it opting to lightly peck the side of his head a few times.
*KFFVV*
Glancing behind him, he saw that Kaiju had jumped down after him and landed without any problems.
Grinning at his Larvitar, the Jedi looked up and saw Hopper gazing down at them.
"Come on Hopper." Cal encouraged. "I'll catch ya."
The Wooper smiled and without waiting for another second jumped down and landed in Cal's arms.
"Gotcha." Cal said with a smirk.
His Wooper gave him his usual derpy smile and jumped out of his arms.
"Right." Cal turned to the cavern before them. "Let's keep going."
Once again getting back into their initial formation, the group of four continued forth within the cave.
As they traversed deeper into the cave, it grew darker, making it a lot more difficult to see.
Thankfully, Cal had his Master's lightsaber on hand to serve as their light as he and his Pokémon traveled further inside.
Traveling upwards now, Cal stood within what was more than likely the largest open area of the cave and he seemed alone for the most part.
The Force signatures of Pokémon still surrounded him from all corners of the area but this time they kept some distance from him.
Frankly, he'd take whatever reprieve he could get. Getting swarmed by those Zubats were a nightmare and a half.
He took a moment to look around with his lightsaber held aloft to give more light to see with.
It was then that he heard a strange echo of some kind from far deeper in the cave though he was unable to discern just what it was.
Inclining his head forward with him turning his head for his right ear to try to pick up the strange echo, he was still not able to figure out just what it was.
Cautiously, he began to walk forward with his Pokémon by his side as he drew closer to what was the source of the echo
As he walked forward, the sound became split with inconsistent patterns until it started becoming clearer.
From the sound of it and the way it kept happening, the source of the echo were a group of people who were conversing rather loudly.
Cal eventually got close enough that he able to hear the voices more clearly now and it was coming from what looked to be a more wide open space within the cave.
"-ere the fossils are and we'll let you go." Spoke a gruff make voice.
"Stop wasting our time punk." Said another man, more aggressively. "We're on a time crunch and we don't want our time wasted."
"I-I-I don't know." Responded a more meek and scared male voice. "I wasn't able to find them when you all showed up."
"Better not be lying kid." Said a female voice this time. "Master Koga already had to deal with a few brats like that punk with the Pikachu. Last thing we need is some cowardly geek who can't help us find what we're here for."
Cal tensed up upon hearing the mention of a Pikachu and thought of only one person that he was aware of to possess that particular Pokémon.
"Red?" Kestis muttered to himself.
It appears his fellow Pokédex holder has already been through here before him and had encountered these people who were talking right now.
Now Red wasn't the sort of boy that went looking for a fight if Cal were to believe from the interactions he's had with the Pokémon trainer. Sure he had a bit a cocky streak but nothing crazy as it was to just go out of his way to challenge dangerous individuals. It was more in his confidence that he had in his skill then belief of superiority.
Then again, he had only met Red a few brief times and as friendly as the Pokémon trainer was it didn't mean he knew everything about him.
So what exactly did Red do to anger these people he couldn't quite see yet.
"What does Team Rocket even want some old fossils anyway?" Asked the earlier timid voice.
"None of your damn business ya snot nosed punk." Yelled the first gruff voice he had heard from before.
There came a thump of sorts followed by a cry of pain.
'Never mind.' Cal internally said to himself. 'That explains everything.'
Brief as it was back in Pewter City, seeing the aftereffects of an attack by Team Rocket was more than enough of a reason for Cal to mistrust these people.
To blow up a Pokémon center just to steal a few Pokémon wasn't just extreme, it was downright evil.
So here they were now doing what he was told that they do best.
Thugs and criminals harassing the innocent for their Pokémon.
Cal peeked around the corridor he stood in into the wider open portion of the cave to see three Team Rocket grunts surrounding a young man with a white button up shirt and glasses.
Around them were a group of Pokémon he didn't recognize save for Rattata and Zubat. There were two new Pokémon that he couldn't identify so he hoped the Pokédex had an entry on them.
The first of the new Pokémon was purple and spherical in appearance, having vacant eyes and a wide mouth that had two pointed teeth in their upper jaws. Below the faces were a cream-colored skull-and-crossbones marking with several geyser-like protrusions all over their bodies.
The second one was serpentine, being purple in color like the first one and their eyes, underbelly, the thick stripe around its neck, and rattle were yellow. The snake like Pokémon all had three pairs of black lines encircling their bodies, as well as another line that connects to each slit-pupiled eye and curves toward its nose. Each had a large mouth with a round, pink tongue and no visible teeth.
"You better start talking punk cause we're running out of patience here." The gruff Rocket grunt demanded. "Unless you want to be pumped fulla poison, courtesy of my Ekans."
One of the now identified snake like Pokémon released a hiss of eagerness.
"How can I help you when I don't even know where these fossils are?" the captured individual said in a frightened voice. "I was looking for them until you all showed up and now the path is cold."
"Well then pick up where ya left off." The Lady Rocket member snarled. "Otherwise you'll-"
Cal tuned out the conversation as he began brainstorming as to how to deal with this situation.
He quickly counted off that next to the three Rocket grunts were around eight Pokémon.
If what he read from that Pokémon book that Professor Oak gave was true, captured Pokémon will at first be disoriented if their trainers are taken out. He would need to make sure that the Rocket grunts were taken out swiftly and decisively for him and his Pokémon to take out the others as soon as they can.
Looking around the cave momentarily, Cal spotted some decently sized rocks littered around the floor and found himself grinning slightly.
He looked down to Kaiju standing by him and shot him a knowing look as he quickly looked towards the rocks and his Larvitar gave him an affirming nod.
Cal then whispered to his Starly and Wooper to get Sand-Attacks ready as he held out a hand and ensnared several rocks with the Force.
They slowly levitated up of the ground and were floating before Cal as he lined up several rocks per the head of each Rocket grunt.
Once his projectiles were aligned, the Jedi Padawan took a moment to steady himself with a calming exhale.
He eyeballed the three Rocket grunts momentarily and after a second of tense silence, Kestis Force pushed the rocks he had gathered at full power.
They came in flying like blaster bolts as each one hit their target.
"AURGH!" The gruff Rocket grunt cried out, head careening forward into a nearby wall. He bonked his head on the rough surface and knocked himself out.
The female Rocket grunt got his in the dead center of the back of her head and fell down into unconsciousness.
Only the third Rocket grunt managed to stay conscious though he was clearly dazed with blood running down the side of his head.
"What the hell was-"
Cal reacted quickly and thrust his palm to unleash a Force push that sent the last standing Rocket Grunt into a nearby wall to knock him out properly.
"Go!" Cal shouted with his three Pokémon jumping into action.
Larvitar ran forward with a Rock Throw that knocked down the two Rocket Zubats before performing a Take Down against a nearby Rattata.
Cal had also Force Pushed another Pokémon, this one being a Koffing whilst he directed Hopper and Arc in taking out the rest of Rockets Pokémon with a Sand-attack/Water gun/Wing Attack combo.
It was over in a matter of seconds with Cal and his Pokémon standing over the downed Rockets.
"Whew." Cal said, smirking with pride towards his team. "Nice work guys."
His Pokémon all had varying degrees of satisfaction at hearing such praise.
The Padawan turned to face the timid young man who appeared no older than him and had a look of awe and slight fear in his eyes. He wore glasses, brown pants, a white lab coat and a black shirt.
"Who-Who are you?" The young man asked with Cal offering a hand for him to take.
"Cal Kestis." The Padawan introduced himself. "Was passing through here and saw you needed help."
"Thanks." The boy said with a grateful expression as he grasped the Jedi's hand and was pulled up to his feet.
He took a moment to look down at the unconscious Rocket grunts and their Pokémon and shook his head.
"I had heard about Team Rocket growing in influence all over Kanto but I didn't think it would be that bad."
Cal grimaced. "You should have seen what they did in Pewter City. They blew up the Pokémon center and stole all the Pokémon there."
The boy in the lab coat gaped, glasses nearly falling from his face.
"Are you serious?!" Cal nodded at him making the young man snarl now.
"Despicable, absolutely despicable." He raged until a stray thought went through his head. "Oh my, where are my manners. I didn't even introduce myself to the guy who saved me."
With a sheepish and appreciative smile, it was the boy in the lab coat who now held out a hand for Cal.
"Name's Miguel." He said chipperly. "Bit of a super nerd for Pokémon if you know what I mean."
"Er… sorta." Cal said with a small laugh.
Miguel chuckled before taking a moment to squint at the Pokémon around him.
"Whoa." He said after a moment. "I've never seen Pokémon like these ones before. Save for that Wooper there."
"They're not from Kanto." Cal revealed. "Kaiju and Hopper here are from Johto."
"And what about your bird Pokémon?"
"From an entirely different region." He rubbed the top of his Starly's head who chirped happily at the attention.
Miguel only hummed aloud in clear intrigue, giving each of Cal's Pokémon a look of admiration.
"Well, thank you Cal." The self-proclaimed super nerd said with an appreciative smile. "You saved my hide with these bozos."
"What did they even want with you?" Cal asked, gazing around at the knocked Rockets. "I overheard them say something about a… fossil?"
Miguel nodded excitedly now.
"Yeah, I came here looking for rumored fossils buried here in Mt. Moon." The Super Nerd said excitedly. "Rumor has it that this place is famed for a myriad of special stones and ancient fossils buried deep in the caves below."
"Fossils?" Cal repeated with a contemplative frown. "Like… like Pokémon fossils?"
Miguel nodded. "Exactly that."
The Super Nerd walked past the Jedi and made a small gesture with his hand for Cal to follow after him.
Shrugging to himself, Cal walked after Miguel who led him into what seemed to be the pathway that would lead to either another part of the cave or perhaps a way out.
"Here." The Super Nerd walked over to an indented part of the wall and quickly pulled out some digging tools and quickly picked through the rocky wall and ground with relative ease.
"Aha, as I thought." Miguel proclaimed with smug victory. "Those dumb Rockets never think to look in the most obvious of places."
Within the boys dirt covered hands were two sandy brown stones that held distinct shapes that Cal took a moment to identify.
One was an oval like dome with two dots of some kind and the other was a spiral helix.
Cal narrowed his eyes at the two fossils when they widened a moment later.
Both fossils exuded the Force.
He was always taught that the Force exists in all living things but fossils were certainly a new one.
Then again… this world was really a Force nexus of some kind in the eyes of the young Padawan.
"Pretty cool, huh?" Miguel asked, grinning widely as he held the fossils up between him and Cal. "Millions of years of history in the palm of my hands. Betcha not many can say that."
"It is crazy to consider honestly." Cal admitted with an intrigued hum. "So, what are you gonna do with them?"
Miguel shrugged. "Well, I'm not entirely sure about this since I haven't been there yet but there's a place in Kanto call Cinnabar Island where they've devised machines that can actually revive these fossils."
Cal blinked, taking a moment to register what he had just heard.
"Wait… revive them?" He said questioningly. "As in bring them back to life?"
The Super Nerd nodded his head excitedly, a wide grin appearing on his face.
"Yeah, amazing right?" Miguel said, practically quivering with giddiness. "When I first heard of it, I thought it was crazy talk, but then-"
The young man held both fossils in one hand to free up the other to reach for a pocket in his lab coat and pulled out a picture with him as a younger man with who Cal assumed to be his parents standing behind him.
Atop the boys head was another new Pokémon Kestis had never seen before.
It was mostly flat with a protective, brown shell covering its body. There were two small, black eyes on top of its shell and underneath the shell is a black space that hid the structure of its main body. Only its four short, yellow legs and a second pair of luminescent red eyes were visible on its underside.
"That Pokémon there is a Kabuto." Miguel revealed. "He was found and brought back to life by my dad and we've had him for years. My dad told me that Kabuto is 300 million years old, not changing in that time at all."
"Whoa." Cal murmured, unable to hide his astonishment at that little tidbit.
Back in the Jedi Temple, the library house thousands upon thousands of years of history of the Jedi, Sith and the galaxy as a whole.
It was a vast collection of accumulated knowledge that was constantly added upon on a daily basis.
But there was something quite surreal about owning a piece of actual living history that was supposed to have gone extinct millions of years of years ago.
This world the young Jedi Padawan had found himself on was just getting stranger and stranger by the day.
Cal was so engrossed in his thoughts that he failed to realize that Miguel held something out for him to take.
Blinking back to reality, the Padawan looked down at the domed fossil in front of him. He glanced up at an expectant Super Nerd who then bobbed the fossil up and down slightly.
"It's for you." Miguel said simply, waiting for him to take it.
"What?" Cal said in surprise. "For me? Why?"
"Uh, you saved my hide back there, duh." The Pokémon nerd said with a bright smile. "Think of this as payment."
The Force-User was at a momentary loss for words and he was about to reject the notion yet the Force radiating off the fossilized life form.
He stared at it for a few seconds before slowly raising his hand to take it, halting an inch from it.
"Are… are you sure?" Cal hesitantly asked.
"Giving up a fossil as repayment for having my life saved seems miniscule at best." Miguel declared resolutely. "Besides, I already got the one I want. No need to get greedy with having both for myself."
The Super Nerd held up the helix fossil to display before he pocketed it and still held his other hand with the dome fossil for Cal to take.
After a brief second of contemplation, the Padawan took the fossilized Pokémon and took a moment to gaze upon.
The Force…
It circled around this petrified creature and seemed to resonate with him.
Was he meant to have this fossil?
He was unable to stave off the mirthful smirk that wormed its way onto his face.
By this point, Cal was so full of questions on just what this world was, he wondered if he should stop and just roll with it by this point.
"Well… thanks." Cal said, holding onto the fossil tightly before putting it away. "So what will you do now?"
"I'm gonna get outta here and head back home to Pewter City." Miguel stated. "I've had enough excitement for today and just wanna stay in bed the next few days."
Cal found himself snorting. "I hear that."
"What about you?"
The Padawan hummed aloud in thought.
"I did just come to Mt. Moon from Pewter City." Cal remarked, rubbing his chin now.
Miguel perked up upon hearing this. "Oh, so were you recently there for the open Gym challenge Brock had?"
The Jedi found himself feeling a bit bashful now, rubbing the back of his head with a small smile.
"I, uh… actually competed." He admitted. "And won."
"Really? You did?" Miguel said aloud, pleasantly surprised. "Man, no wonder you got those Rocket goons so easily. You're one skilled trainer!"
All Cal was able to do was lightly laugh in response.
It was strange really to hear such praise. He was still only a novice after all.
"So does that mean you're gonna challenge the rest of the gym leaders?"
'Rest of them?' Cal internally repeated.
On that he wasn't so sure.
Accident or not, Kestis was fairly certain of himself that he didn't come to this planet seeking conflict.
He literally just escaped from one, a war no less.
Cal was honest with himself when he believed he didn't know what to do with himself as he was still unsure as to the why he was here.
His master had always spoken of the Will of the Force and how it has a destiny and plan for all.
But then came in the strange contradictory of making their own choices, in choosing the path they go on.
Honestly, he really wasn't in the mood for such philosophical headaches so he just shrugged at the super nerd.
"Don't know if I wanna take on the gym leaders really." Cal admitted. "All I know is Cerulean Town is ahead. Does that place have a Gym leader?"
Miguel took a moment to think about it.
"If memory serves me correctly, yes, I do believe so." He said with a nod.
Cal squinted slightly at the ground, thinking on what to do next.
He was on his way to Cerulean City as is but as to what he would do there…
"I guess it's best I kept going then." Cal said after a few seconds. "Maybe challenge or just talk with the Gym leader in Cerulean."
"Then I'll leave you to it." Miguel said, patting the Jedi on the shoulder. "Nice meeting ya Cal. If ya ever stop on by to visit Pewter City again, I'm first house to the right of where the museum is. Stop by whenever you want."
"Thanks. Nice meeting you." Cal said with a pleasant smile that the super nerd returned.
He watched as Miguel walked away towards the direction to Pewter City before he looked ahead.
Around him, his three Pokémon waited for him expectantly before he nodded.
"Let's go guys."
Alright so, I meant to get this chapter out way sooner then intended but had backed up on a number of things, other stories, rebooting Avenging Remnant, life and work and all that shit.
But at last got around to it and now we can continue where we left off.
Thank god for small breaks at work. Needed those small increments to get the chapter done.
So now, Cal's got himself a little fossil and pretty confident you guys know who he got.
Wouldn't mind name ideas thrown around here and there.
