8. Welcome To Class 1A
Story Start: UA High, Day After Acceptance Letters Were Sent Out, Teacher's Lounge
Toshinari stared down at a note pad he was filling with different scenarios as he mused to himself 'Hm, would the other Students learn more with those four leading them or serving as the Op Force full stop?'
"Oi, All Might." A tired voice said pulling him from his thoughts and when he looked up and to the right of his work place he saw a tired man in a black suit with a thin cloth wrapped around his neck serving as an unusual scarf. Placing his pencil down on the pad Toshinari placed his hands down over it as he asked "What can I help you with Aizawa?"
"Those four wild cards. You advised us to separate them in the Entrance Exam but then you recommended they be kept together when we were deciding the classes." Aizawa, Pro Hero Name Eraserhead stated before his tired eyes narrowed and he asked "What is your relationship with them? Did you perhaps train them all previously, keeping them ignorant of each other until they got in?"
Toshinari let out a loud laugh, actually switching to All Might for a few moments and slapping his thigh as he did so. Aizawa ignored the form change, instead keeping his narrow eyed gaze on his coworker. When All Might had calmed down and shifted back into Toshinari, the blond grinned up at Aizawa and said "I'm sorry Aizawa, but while I can certainly see where you might have drawn that conclusion, I had no input whatsoever in those four's training. I actually only met them ten months ago. Midoriya caught my attention when he resolved a difficult hostage situation then he introduced me to the other three."
"So if you didn't train them to be so effective before they were even old enough to join a Hero School then who did?" Aizawa asked as he crossed his arms with a scowl, hating the unknown these four students presented him with.
Toshinari turned solemn as he said "Ah, my apologies Aizawa, but it's not my place to divulge their secrets. Just know that they are on our side and have my complete trust."
Aizawa's eyes gleamed red as he bit out "This isn't a Hawks situation is it?"
All Might's eyes gained a just as intensive blue gleam in them as he said "If I had learned the Hero Commission had pulled such a stunt again then believe me there would have been new management over there." Shaking his head, he said "But no, these four have had no previous contact with that organization."
Aizawa closed his eyes with a sigh and rubbed the back of his head as he said "Troublesome. I guess I'll just have to ask them."
When Toshinari nodded but didn't say anything else, he sighed again then slouched off to catch up on some much needed sleep.
Aldera Junior High, The Monday After The Exam Results Were Revealed
Izuku was right about Bakugo being pissed with coming in fifth place with so many points between him and the Marines. The moment he stepped across Aldera's entrance gate he heard an extremely loud yell of "DEKUUUUUU!"
Looking up at the raging ball of anger in his observation Haki, Izuku raised an eyebrow as he watched Bakugo literally launch himself out of the second story window of their classroom, explosions from his hands carrying him almost all the way to the gate. Landing five feet from the verdette, the Pomeranian stomped forward with a snarl as he demanded "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?! THERE AIN'T NO FUCKING WAY YOU SCORED THAT MANY POINTS! YOU OR THOSE OTHER THREE DAMNED LOSERS! DID YOU SNEAK IN AFTER THE POINTS WERE GRADED AND CHANGED THEM?! HUH?! ANSWER ME LOSER!"
Izuku gave him a flat look, idly leaning his head to the side to avoid all of the spittle coming from the literally spitting mad blond as he yelled. The moment Bakugo stopped yelling though he said "There was no cheating Bakugo. Not by me or by the other three. We're simply better trained, that's all."
"Trained huh?" Bakugo growled before he leaned in and asked "Trained by who?"
Izuku gained a sharp grin and asked "Wouldn't you like to know?" The next moment, he blurred around Bakugo in a 'slow' shave and disappeared into the school building leaving Bakugo cursing up a storm even as he denied in his mind any possibility of Izuku really being that fast. (Oh you poor not so sweet summer child, he is a hell of a lot faster)
Bakugo's mood didn't get any better when during Homeroom the principal got onto the PA and announced to the entire school that two of Aldera's students had made it into the most prestigious Hero School earning shouts and cheers all over the building. Who could blame them though? Only thirty six students out of literal thousands would be accepted and two of those spots had been taken from students of the school. What were the odds of that happening?!
From his desk, Izuku surreptitiously slipped his phone out and did a quick search for how many lower secondary schools were in the country. Getting 10,815, he gave those schools four classes per year with twenty students in each to get 814,800 students. He then divided that number by 36 to get the odds being a school getting a student into UA's Hero Course being 1 in 24,033.33 which meant that getting two in would be 1 in 48,066.67. And that wasn't even getting into transfer students trying to get in from out of the country as well.
(Izuku would later calculate the odds of two schools getting a pair of students into the Hero Course at UA when he met two of his future classmates, and all four of them into the same class at that, getting odds of 1 in 384,533.33)
Shortly after that day the school term ended and it was time to leave Aldera Junior High behind for Izuku's high school education.
Time Skip: First Day Of UA's First Semester
Entering UA that morning felt even more momentous that day then it had the day of the Entrance Exam. Once again the four Marines met up at the entrance, this time a good half hour before their homeroom was scheduled to start and they made their way to Classroom 1A with the intention to have plenty of time to observe their classmates before homeroom started where they had to be silent and listen to their teachers.
Somewhat surprising, there was actually someone already at the door when they reached their classroom. The student who had interrupted Present Mic's explanation of the Entrance Exam was opening the door as they walked down the hallway.
"Figures that guy would come early." Kaminari said quietly, Tsuyu nodding her agreement.
"Try not to rile him up too much please." Izuku said wryly, Uraraka huffing in amusement.
Kaminari's "No promises" had Uraraka snicker a little though she managed to get herself under control as they reached the door and filed in.
The glasses wearing teen looked pleasantly surprised as he watched them enter from where he had been sitting at his desk. (There were folded pieces of paper on the front right corner of each desk with their names on them) Quickly moving to his feet, he said "Greetings, it is rather reassuring to see that others believe in taking their education seriously by arriving early as well. I am Iida Tenya."
The now named Iida bowed at the waist and the four Marines (Even Kaminari) gave polite bows of the head in return. As they brought their heads back up, Izuku returned the introductions as he gestured first at himself then at each of the other three as he said "Greetings, I am Midoriya Izuku, on my right is my Promised Uraraka Ochako, and on my left is Kaminari Denki and Asui Tsuyu."
"Call me Tsuyu." Tsuyu said right on the heels of Izuku's introduction.
Ida nodded at Asui and said "If that is what you wish Tsuyu." He then turned his focus back on Izuku, looking from him to Uraraka as he asked "And I apologize, but 'Promised'? Are the two of you betrothed?"
Uraraka gave him a beaming smile as she held up her left hand, an action Izuku imitated revealing the Promise Rings on their hands as she said "Nothing nearly so Official but yes, we do plan to marry once we're old enough."
Iida gained a slight frown as he said "I see. Not that it is any of my business, but aren't you a little, young to make such a promise?"
Kaminari snorted and said "Please, if anyone fits the description of 'Married in another life', it's these two."
The other three Marines gave Kaminari a 'warning look' via the empathetic part of their Observation Haki but thankfully Iida didn't seem to take Kaminari's words to be literal as he said "I see, well as I said before, it is none of my business how you go about your relationship. However, I do hope you two will be professional and not be too overt with any public displays of affection while on campus."
"Don't worry, we'll keep it kid friendly." Uraraka said with a giggle.
Iida nodded before his whole attitude changed into a much more impressed one as he said "On another note, I must admit to some surprise the four of you were able to obtain such impressive scores during the Entrance Exam. I didn't even think it was possible to break triple digits during the test, never mind four digits. And it hadn't even occurred to me that the examiners would be looking for more than combat competence and yet you all earned so many Rescue Points." Beginning to robotically chop his right arm, he finished with "Truly, you four exemplify what it means to be Heroes, I hope to learn much from you in the upcoming years of our education!"
"We'll do our best to teach by example, Kero." Tsuyu stated.
"In the meantime, would you mind discussing your Quirk?" Izuku asked, a composition journal and pen seemingly materializing in his hands. Giving Iida a sheepish smile, he continued "Analyzing Quirks is kind of a hobby of mine."
Iida blinked a couple of times before he said "I suppose I do not mind."
"Great!" Izuku said happily, quickly moving over to his desk and grabbing the chair there before he quickly moved over to Iida's desk. The other three all shook their heads in amusement but made for their own desks, Kaminari pulling out his phone while Tsuyu pulled out a book on Amazonian amphibians and Uraraka took out a Sudoku book to pass the time.
Izuku spent a good twenty minutes with Iida discussing not only his Engine quirk but how it differed from the members of his family who shared the same type of Quirk. Questions from which types of Orange Juice gave the best results (And yes, there were more types than just pulp or non-pulp) to how hot the engines got, to how easily he could shift gears, and even if Iida had ever gotten a proper scan of his quirk's inner workings.
As the pair spoke the other students began filing in. Five minutes before the start of class, Bakugo came ambling in with hands in his pockets. He scowled at the sight of Izuku but after giving a tsk of annoyance ignored him and made his way to his desk where he proceeded to put his feet on top of the furniture.
That unfortunately set prim and proper Iida off and after quickly excusing himself from his and Izuku's conversation power walked over to start berating Katsuki about disrespecting both those who had made the desk and the students who came before them. Bakugo naturally got annoyed with the guy and asked who he was supposed to be. When Iida introduced himself and said that he was from Somei Academy Bakugo said something about ripping the rod the elite school had grafted to his spine out free of charge.
Naturally such a crude statement upset Iida even further but before he could get started, Izuku gave a sharp whistle. When everyone but his fellow Marines looked towards him, he pointed at the door where the Rear Admirals were already looking. Turning their heads in that direction now, they beheld a tired looking man who was most likely their homeroom teacher that was leaning against the doorway, a yellow sleeping bag of all things in his left hand.
"It took you two seconds to settle down. Good, maybe you're more rational than the usual group of helpless brats I have to deal with."
Irreverent to the very end, Kaminari grinned and said "Buddy, eye drops, vitamin d, eight hours of sleep, all that good stuff yeah?"
smack!
Three palms met three faces and Uraraka asked "Kano, why?"
'How the hell did he manage to not piss off the higher ups long enough to reach Rear Admiral?' Izuku questioned for the three thousand two hundred and fifty ninth time. (Yes he had kept count) He then blinked and yet again reminded himself 'Oh yeah, because he earned each rank after Private through a field promotion after getting through hairy situations until he hit Commodore then showed he was too strong to stay that rank.'
The totally unrepentant Rear Admiral merely grinned wider as Aizawa glared at him for a moment with slightly gleaming red eyes before he gave a sharp huff and said "I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Pleased to meet you."
"Homeroom teacher?!" several of the students asked in surprise, not that Izuku could blame them, Aizawa's appearance didn't exactly scream 'Pro Hero'. Even he had needed a moment to match the name Eraserhead to the man's outfit and appearance when All Might told them who their homeroom teacher would be. And he made it a point to know at least the basics on EVERY Hero in Japan he could get info on without hacking databases so that told how little there was on the man.
Aizawa moved into the room proper as he reached into the yellow sleeping bag held in his hand and as it came out with a gym uniform he said "I know that this is sudden but go change into your gym clothes and head out to the grounds."
The Marines immediately stood up and moved to the doorway. When the other students remained in their seats for a few more seconds looking a little caught off guard, Aizawa glared and said "Well, what are you waiting for? Move it."
That got chairs rolling back and bodies standing and Aizawa gave a sharp nod of approval.
Scene Change: The Grounds
Eraserhead couldn't help the slight widening of his eyes in surprise when he saw Izuku had beat him to the entrance of the testing area, and in his gym uniform already to boot. Giving Aizawa a respectful nod, the verdette said "Eraserhead-sensei. All Might said you have questions." Pulling a sealed envelope out of his pocket, he said "Me and the others have discussed it. Given your history as an Underground Hero, we believe you can be trusted with at least the bare basics."
As Aizawa reached over to accept the envelope, he paused as Izuku tilted it back towards himself and said with a stern look "This gets burned the moment you read the last letter and no one is to be told, no exceptions, not even the Principal, am I clear?"
The sternness in Izuku's tone and the look in his eyes told Aizawa that he would wish he was dead after the kid got through with him if he learned Aizawa had blabbed about whatever was in that envelope. To be honest, he could appreciate that kind of attitude. Giving a silent nod, Aizawa took the letter when it was tilted back towards him and slipped it into a pouch on his tool belt that was there for the sole purpose of carrying sensitive information he didn't want people getting if he was captured on the job, the lid of the case the pouch was sewed around locking once closed. It would only open when its lock received his thumb print (and read as 'living' so copying the print or even cutting the digit off wouldn't work) and the five digit access code.
With the exchange of information completed, Aizawa moved past Izuku, gesturing with one hand for him to follow him to a circle marked in the ground with two lines drawn away from them at ninety degrees from each other with lines connecting them marking out distances starting a couple of meters from the circle. Standing in a pile by this circle were several large softballs with a band of metal going around each one. Distance tracking sensors.
The pair waited in silence for the others to arrive. Once they had gathered in front of him with Izuku, Aizawa said "Right then, now that you all are here, we can begin. If we teachers at UA are going to help you become the best heroes possible then we first need to know what you can do. As such, you will all be taking a test of your Quirks."
"Sir?" Uraraka asked with a hand raised to shoulder height. When Aizawa nodded to her, she lowered the hand and said "I can understand needing to know our limits as soon as possible, but what about the entrance ceremony?" All four Marines could sense the majority of the school's students heading from their rooms to the massive auditorium where the text takers had listened to Present Mic explain the Practical Exam.
"No time to waste on that stuff if you want to become Heroes." Aizawa stated, bending down to pick up the ball at the top of the pile. Standing back up, he continued "UA is known for its 'Freestyle" Educational system. That applies to us teachers as well."
Holding the softball up for everyone to see, Aizawa stated "Softball throwing. The standing long jump. The 50-meter dash. Endurance Running. Grip Strength. Side-to-side stepping. Upper-body training. Seated toe touch. You did all these in middle school, yes? Your standard no-Quirks-allowed gym tests. This country still insists on prohibiting Quirks when calculating the averages of those records. It's not rational. The department of education just procrastinating."
Turning his focus on Izuku only, he asked "Midoriya, how far could you throw in middle school?"
"126 Meters." Izuku stated, earning more than one impressed whistle from his classmates and a scowl from Bakugo.
Aizawa tossed the softball at him and said "Get in the circle and this time use everything at your disposal. Do whatever you need to. Just don't leave the circle."
Aizawa would have told Izuku to use his Quirk, but the only thing in the Quirk Section of his paperwork was 'NA'. Aizawa had doubts about that given what he had seen the kid do during the Practical Exam but he'd be willing to humor the kid by not telling him to use his Quirk. (Even if it was slightly irrational)
"Right." Izuku said, moving into the circle. He hefted the ball once, then gave it a couple of soft tosses a couple of inches up into the air. The next moment, the softball was thrown upwards at an eighty five degree angle, going ten feet into the air. As it came back down, Izuku pulled out his collapsed bo staff, connected its three parts together while holding the tip of one of the end segments then hit the other end of the already blackened weapon on the ball when it was at a point that was exactly forty five degrees from Izuku and at the exact point in space where the point of his staff was at full extension.
The instant the staff touched the falling ball it was blasted away by a tightly packed cylinder of air carrying it away. As the long tube of wind shot out, the class was buffeted by the surrounding air moving in to fill the vacuum the departing air left, hair and clothes being pulled towards him for a good six seconds.
A few seconds later Aizawa's phone gave two beeps and he glanced at it as he said "It's important for us to know our limits." Turning the phone around, he showed the display to the class which showed 832.4 m as he continued "That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of Heroes you'll be."
"Holy crap, over eight hundred meters?! That's insane!" The pink skinned Mina Ashido said in amazement.
"DEKU, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!" Bakugo asked in outraged disbelief.
"Applied Physics." Izuku said as he disassembled his bo staff. Putting the segments back in the holster hidden under the waist band of his pants, he continued "I moved my arm and staff so fast that it pushed the air away in a controlled burst. The extra length of the staff gave me more mass and thus force to apply to the ball."
"BULLSHIT! NO QUIRKLESS LOSER COULD MOVE THEIR BODY THAT FAST!" Bakugo shouted back.
"Wait, did he just say that that guy's Quirkless!?" Sato asked in disbelief.
"No way, did you see what he just did!?" the invisible Toru asked.
Izuku chuckled and said "Oh, I'm Quirkless alright." Punching left fist into right palm with a loud smack, he continued "But just because I don't have a superpower given to me by genetics doesn't mean I couldn't train myself to be able to make anyone regret their life choices when they go against me or be able to help when disaster strikes."
"Dude, that is so manly!" Kirishima said with an awed grin.
"It certainly explains why he has a weapon on hand if he doesn't have a Quirk to enhance his abilities." Iida mused, hand to chin. The fact that the top scorer of the Entrance Exam hadn't had a Quirk to use against the robots just made Iida even more impressed with the verdette's drive.
"Enough, you're all being irrational. You can all discuss Midoriya's unusual skill later. We still have a test to do. As he demonstrated, adding your Quirks to these tests should give you a much better result so be sure to give it your all."
"Heh, this is going to be awesome!" The muscular Sato said with an eager grin.
"So we can use our Quirks for real! Man, the Hero Course is Great!" The tape dispensing Sero said in agreement.
"Awesome, you say?" Aizawa asked dangerously.
'Oh boy, now they've done it.' All four Marines thought together. That was the voice all drill instructors used when they decided to knock Marine Trainees down a peg or five.
Aizawa didn't shift at all but suddenly he seemed to gain six inches and become the most threatening thing most of the students had encountered as he said "You're hoping to become Heroes after three years here...and you think it'll all be fun and games? Right then. The one with the lowest score across all eight events will be judged hopeless and thus they will be expelled."
"Expelled?! But it's just the first day! Even if it weren't, that's TOTALLY UNFAIR!" Toru exclaimed.
Aizawa gave Toru a flat look as he listed "Natural disasters, highway pileups, rampaging villains...Calamity is always right around the corner. I'd say Japan is full of unfair things, and it doesn't have a monopoly on them either. There is strife worldwide, and Heroes are the ones who correct all that unfairness. If you were hoping to spend your evenings hanging out at McDonald's, I'm sorry to tell you that for the next three years...UA will run you through the wringer. THAT'S PLUS ULTRA." Lifting up his right hand, Aizawa made the 'bring it' gesture with his pointer finger as he finished his speech with "SO BRING IT, use your strength to overcome it all."
All of the students gained determined looks and Aizawa smirked at them and said "The demonstration is over, let's get started."
As the tests commenced, one thing that became clear to Aizawa was that whatever training the four anomaly students had received, leg strength was definitely a focus.
50 meter dash? Each of them made the run in under half a second, seeming to practically teleport from one end of the track to the other.
Standing long jump: all of them easily made it meters past the edge of the sand, even Izuku who had hand flipped off of his staff that he had assembled in midair, and even managed to keep hold of as he continued forward.
Side Stepping: The only one who did remotely as well as them was Mineta with his two groups of sticky balls on either side of them, and the four were going so fast that it looked like there were two of them as they went from one line to the other.
Endurance Running: Even after constantly lapping the other students (yes, even Iida) the four had been going for thirty minutes before Aizawa told them to stop. The only one who had lasted that long was Momo, and she had been riding a solar powered scooter she had made.
They didn't do too shabby on the other tests either. They were flexible enough that they could all touch at least their wrists to their toes and easily outpaced the others in sit ups. Grip strength seemed to be the only thing where the four were somewhat normal but Izuku got a hundred and forty nine kilograms out of the machine while Uraraka got a hundred and twelve. Kaminari streamed electricity through his muscles to get two eighty seven while Tsuyu wrapped her tongue around the handle several times to get four oh nine.
Now they were back at the ball throwing part of the grounds and Tsuyu was stepping into the circle.
Like Izuku had during his throw, Tsuyu gave the ball a couple of small testing tosses before she threw the ball upwards. Unlike Izuku, her toss was straight up and only a foot over her head. When the ball fell down to mouth level, there was a sharp crack, a much greater burst of wind, the ball was just gone and Tsuyu's tongue was sticking out at full extension twenty meters from her body at an upwards forty five degree angle.
As Tsuyu quickly pulled her tongue back in, Toru asked shakily "W-was that a sonic boom just now?"
"Yes it was." The earphone jack quirked Jiro said with a pained whimper, hands over her ears.
"You mean she broke the sound barrier with her tongue?!" Mina asked with wide eyes.
"Dude, that is so manly!" Kirishima said in awe.
A few seconds later, Aizawa's phone beeped a couple of times and he raised an eyebrow before he turned the display for the students to see: 3,246.2 meters.
"OVER THREE KILOMETERS?!" Most of the class shouted together in shocked amazement.
"Kero." Tsuyu ribbitted, face mostly stoic but eyes showing amusement as she walked out of the circle, lifting both hands to accept the high fives Uraraka and Kaminari offered her while returning the nod Izuku gave her.
Iida's Engine boosted kick score of 623.7 meters seemed rather insignificant in comparison, but he didn't seem disappointed.
But then Uraraka stepped up, took the ball, lined up full baseball pitcher style, bent leg up and everything, then threw the ball hard enough to create her own (somewhat smaller) burst of wind. She very clearly and concisely counted to a hundred before she released her Quirk. When Aizawa's phone beeped several moments later, he just stared at the phone blankly for a full minute.
"Um sensei, what was the distance?" The well-endowed Yaoyorozu asked uncertainly.
Aizawa displayed the number and more than one person choked as they saw 50,582.9 meters.
Izuku chuckled and said "Hope it didn't hit anyone on the way down."
Uraraka blushed at that as she rubbed the back of her head sheepishly while Aizawa gave her husband a flat look.
Unlike Iida, when the Tail Quirked Ojiro scored a measly 645.3 meters, he looked slightly resigned as he asked to himself how he was supposed to stand out with a score after Uraraka's. He got a sympathetic (and empathetic) pat on the shoulder from Toru.
As Kaminari stepped into the circle and caught the ball Aizawa lazily tossed at him, he asked "So teach, just checking, but the sensors on these are hardened from electrical shocks right?"
"They were tested against tesla coils and still worked." Aizawa said, tiredly rubbing at his right eye.
"Awesome." Kaminari said with a grin. Turning to look over his shoulder, he said "Oi, Earphone Girl, it's Jiro right?"
"Y-yeah?" Jiro said warily.
Kaminari winked at her and said "Word of advice, cover your ears."
As Jiro whimpered at that, Yaoyorozu was kind enough to form a pair of noise cancelation headphones for not only Jiro but everyone else as well, even Aizawa.
Kaminari didn't test the balls weight. He didn't adopt a pitchers stance. Instead, he held his palm flat with the ball resting in the middle as a greasy feeling filled the air around him followed by a humming sound. Then spinning rings of electricity began forming in the air, ten sets of three, spinning around each other like gyroscopes and connected by two 'rails' of electricity starting at the very tip of Kaminari's middle finger and ending straight out at forty five degrees. The end set of rings locked and was immediately followed by the next one and three seconds later all of the ring sets were locked. A brief instant of stillness (if not silence) and then...
CRA-BO-BOOM!
There was a flash like a bolt of lightning as the ball was launched through the rail gun Kaminari had made, breaking the sound barrier not once, but twice and causing more than one student to scream in surprised fear.
Kaminari dusted his hands off with a satisfied grin and said somewhat loudly "It's been far too long since I've had a chance to do that. Damn that felt good!"
"T-this class is full of monsters!" The purple midget Mineta said, shaking in fear.
"Yeah, no kidding." Sero agreed.
"Manly Monsters. Talk about going Plus Ultra!" Kirishima said with a sharp toothed grin.
When Aizawa's phone beeped, he once more displayed the distance: 5,473.8 meters, just shy of five and a half kilometers.
More than one long impressed whistle sounded along with a curse or two and Kaminari cackled even as he exchanged high fives with the other three Marines.
Aizawa was quick to get the students moving again. No one else got anywhere near Uraraka, Kaminari, or Tsuyu's score on the ball throw. And the only ones to get close to Izuku's scores were Bakugo, Todoroki, and Yaoyorozu. Bakugo was absolutely pissed when he only got 705.2 meters.
When it was his turn, Todoroki had felt like a raging ball of conflict to the four Marines' Observation Haki before he seemed to come to a compromise he could live with. After he had reached his decision, he had encompassed his ball in a giant ice canon, a massive chunk of ice six feet square behind it. He somehow managed to flash steam the cube in a way that kept it trapped in its outer shell except for where the ball was located, shooting it out 721.2 meters away.
Yaoyorozu came the closest to Izuku's throw, making a large cannon that wouldn't have been out of place at an American Pumkin Chuckin competition if its barrel was wide enough. She managed a highly respectable 813.6 meters. However, it was clear that making such a large creation after a day full of making several objects to help her through the events had taken its toll on her.
The moment Aizawa gave her score, she moved to walk away from the machine only to stumble. She would have fallen if Tsuyu and Uraraka hadn't Shaved next to her, arms going around their shoulders. Yaoyorozu blushed as she gave the girls a quick word of thanks. The next moment, Kaminari lit up in a sheath of lightning before he disappeared from the field. He reappeared two minutes later loaded down with several mega calorie bars from Lunch Rush's stock. (Some Quirks required a LOT of calories so he always had some on hand to supplement more regular meals)
Aizawa was gracious enough to let Yaoyorozu get through her first bar before he said "Now that everyone is finished, it's time to show how you all did. Your total scores simply reflect your performance in each of the events. Explaining the process would be a waste of time, so all you get are the final rankings."
Aizawa's hologram projector displayed the listings and the students quickly looked to find their names, several giving sighs of relief when they found them above the number 20 slot.
Tsuyu Asui
Denki Kaminari
Izuku Midoriya
Uraraka Ochako
Momo Yaoyorozu
Shoto Todoroki
Katsuki Bakugo
Tenya Iida
Fumikage Tokoyami

Mashirao Ojiro
Eijiro Kirishima
Mina Ashido
Koji Koda
Rikido Sato
Yuga Aoyama
Hanta Sero
Kyoka Jiro
Toru Hagakure
Minoru Mineta
Bakugo looked downright pissed at getting Seventh Place. On the opposite side of the scale, upon seeing his name at the bottom, Mineta let out a wail of anguish. But before he could make a go at matching Inko Midoriya's tear ducts, Aizawa gained a shit eating grin as he said "By the way, I was lying about expelling someone."
"HUH?!" Most of the class asked in shock.
"That was just a rational deception, meant to bring out best in all of you." Aizawa said, grin growing another inch.
As most of the class sagged in relief, Yaoyorozu said "Well of course it was a lie. Didn't take much to figure that out..."
Izuku gave her a sad look and said "Oh you poor, naive, sweet summer child."
"Excuse me?!" Yaoyorozu asked, blinking in confusion.
Turning his gaze back to Aizawa, Izuku continued "Sir, why are you lying to them?"
Aizawa raised an eyebrow and asked "What do you mean Midoriya?"
"Dude, your teaching history's available on the school website, you just have to know where to look for it. You've kicked a hundred and fifty four students to the curb in the eleven years you've been here." Kaminari said with a matching raised eyebrow.
Uraraka nodded and said "Last year you expelled EVERYONE in your class."
"He, he wasn't lying about expelling someone?" Yaoyorozu asked, going incredibly pale, something the majority of the class mirrored.
Aizawa's grin was now a dangerous smirk as he said "I suppose you all just have more potential than they did. But don't think you're safe now. If I think you're not taking this seriously, I'll be giving you the boot." Turning to walk back towards the main building, Aizawa said "Anyway, we're done here. Your documents about the curriculum and such are back in the classroom. Give them a look before you leave, and be ready for tomorrow. The trials from now on won't be any easier."
Aizawa left a class that for the most part were trying to get their wits back after the emotional roller coaster they had been on this morning. The Marines meanwhile felt an intense scrutiny coming from the heterochromatic Todoroki. When they turned around to look at him, Kaminari and Izuku giving him raised eyebrows, the teen frowned before leaving to go back to the building as well. The four Marines traded a couple of looks between each other before they all shrugged putting the matter out of their minds and followed him.
Time Skip: Aizawa's Apartment, 6:24 PM
Aizawa had been ready to catch at least an hour or two of sleep before he went on patrol later that night. But before he could cuddle up with some of his cats he had a thing to take care of first. The page of paper that was now burning in a cereal bowl on his desk had had some rather interesting information.
A world that was predominately ocean, even more than Earth was. Marines fighting against Pirates. And a crazy science experiment that had apparently worked, just not quite as the scientists running it had hoped.
As Aizawa leaned back watching the paper burn, he gave a tired sigh and said "Reincarnated Soldiers huh, how Troublesome."
At least he wouldn't have to worry about them freezing when they faced Villains for the first time...

Author's Notes: Alright guys, first off, the actual reason why I updated this story again so fast. There is a poll up that will end on September 30th which will decide what stories I work on for the next two months. (The branch story set of Tailor/Zaboomafoo/Wind and Shadow Clones are the current top two) This poll will be a recurring one with the winners taken out of the running until I've gone through enough stories that it's not viable to run a poll for those two months, after which all of the stories come back. My goal with this is to update a story at least once a month but will work on other stories in between those two months. Also, while branch stories count as one choice, given they are two or three stories, I might not be able to get to the second winner.
Now, onto the story related bit, specifically, Aizawa. At first, I didn't plan on him learning about the Marines' past. But then I realized that he's the type of guy who would see the four being WAY TOO STRONG that young without having Pro Hero parents so he goes to All Might who apparently knows about them already. All Might warns the Marines about Aizawa, they have a conference about him and decide that since he's an Underground Hero he knows how to keep his mouth shut so they give him just a little bit of trust.
Which brings us to what Aizawa now knows about the Marines. To put it bluntly, he knows squat about the Marines other than that they are Marines. He doesn't know their ranks, he doesn't know about any of their abilities other than what he has witnessed them doing, he certainly doesn't know about Haki or the Six Arts other than, again, what he has already witnessed. All he knows is that the Marines are trained soldiers that operated primarily at sea against Pirates, and were part of an experiment that didn't go quite as the people doing the experiment hoped.
That limiting of information is the Marines covering their asses. If someone does learn they're artificially reincarnated and want to find out how and don't care how they get the Marines to run tests on, the Marines still have the ace of Observation Haki under their sleeves to give them warning against direct methods of abduction. Sedatives in their food would of course be harder to detect.
And finally for this chapter: Mineta. Now, a good chunk of authors I've seen love getting rid of Mineta, and quite frankly, any SI I do is going to take his place. But he wasn't kicked in canon so he won't be kicked here. At least not yet, (looks to the side) mostly because I need to keep the class at full strength for just a little bit longer...
Anyways, that's all from me (and man did this AN get bigger than I thought it would) again, make sure you go cast your vote for what you want updated next people. Posting 'reviews' that ask "When will this be updated?" won't do squat now. You want a story updated? Go vote in the poll! For now though, this is Tac, signing out.
