Restarted

Alex sighed, dragging himself toward consciousness and sighing as Luna's bare hips shifted against his, his morning wood instantly pressing against her lips. She smiked, stirring instantly, and rocked her hips teasingly.

"Good morning to you, too," Luna smiled, twisting around to kiss him. "Glad we slept in the Room of Requirement last night."

"We should clear out," Alex said, checking his watch. "We both need to get cleaned up before breakfast."

Luna smiled and rolled on top of him, kissing him hungrily. "My favorite breakfast is already waiting for me to have it in bed."

She kissed him again before making her way lower. Alex groaned, then lifted her, making her squeal in surprise, and apun her around before setting her legs on either side of his head before both dug into their breakfast greedily.

Alex lifted into the air with the others, smirking at McLaggen. He was standing in for Ron, but acting like he thought he was Captain. Harry was close to hexing him, and so was Alex. He refocused on the game in time to catch a backward pass from Demelza, only for a Bludger to breeze past his head, allowing Smith to steal it from him. As he cursed, however, the commentating began.

"And that's Smith of Hufflepuff with the Quaffle," said an especially dreamy voice, echoing over the grounds. "He did the commentary last time, of course, and Ginny Weasley flew into him. Smith was being quite rude about Gryffindor, I expect he regrets that now he's playing them. Oh, look, he's lost the Quaffle, Ginny took it from him. I do like her, she's very nice."

Alex's face split into a grin as he sped off to assist Ginny. Luna was intentionally acting more airhead than normal. Just as she moved to pass to him, however, a big Hufflepuff player managed to swipe the Quaffle from her as he shot past.

"But now that big Hufflepuff player's got the Quaffle from her," Luna said. "I can't remember his name, it's something like Bibble. No, Buggins?"

"It's Cadwallader!" Professor McGonagall said loudly from beside Luna, though Alex could see her smiling knowingly and resignedly.

The crowd laughed, but moments later, Cadwallader scored. McLaggen had been shouting criticism at Ginny for allowing the Quaffle out of her possession, with the result that he had not noticed the large red ball soaring past his right ear.

"McLaggen, will you pay attention to what you're supposed to be doing and leave everyone else alone!" Harry bellowed, wheeling around to face his Keeper.

"You're not setting a great example!" McLaggen shouted back, red-faced and furious.

"And Harry Potter's now having an argument with his Keeper," Luna said serenely, though Alex could tell by his voice it was meant to get him back on track.

Both Hufflepuffs and Slytherins below in the crowd cheered and jeered.

"I don't think that'll help him find the Snitch, but maybe it's a clever ruse," Luna said as Alex shot over to McLaggen and Harry.

"Harry, go," Alex said, Harry returning to the game, swearing loudly. Alex turned back to McLaggen and flicked a hand at him, placing him under Langlock. "You're done talking for the rest of the game. If you do your job, I'll lift the hex after it's over."

His left hand snapped out to the side as Luna commentated about neither of them paying attention to a Hufflepuff about to take a shot. Then, he clutched the ball tight to his chest and wheeled around, shooting forward and rolling past a pair of Chasers and a Bludger, which slammed into one of the Chasers. The third shot toward him, but Alex threw a blurred pass just to the side of his head, making him yelp in fear before Ginny caught the Quaffle and promptly scored. Then Demelza and Alex both scored. Then Cadwallader scored again while McLaggen was miming something at Coote. Alex snarled angrily, but focused, at least until Luna warned that McLaggen had a Beater's bat. Alex and Harry both spun, seeing McLaggen had taken Peakes' bat. Just as Harry ordered McLaggen to do his job, however, McLaggen sent a Bludger into Harry's head, knocking him from his broom and sending him plummetting to the ground. Just shy of it, Alex jabbed his wand at Harry, Harry's fall halting for a moment before he dropped to the ground at a much slower speed. Then, Alex intercepted Ginny on the way to kill McLaggen.

"Go check on Harry and get his broom!" Alex snarled. "You're Seeker!"

Ginny shrieked in rage, but nodded, flying to the ground where Madam Hooch and Madam Pomfrey were checking on him. Alex flew to McLaggen, grabbing him by the hair and dragging him to the ground.

"Get off this fucking pitch before I hex you into St. Mungo's!" Alex snarled. "And you'd better hope we don't find you after the game!"

McLaggen scrambled to flee Alex's wrath, leaving his broom where it had fallen when he'd landed. Alex shot back into the air, the remaining team members all flying over to him.

"Now what?" Demelza asked.

"Ginny's Seeking," Alex said. "Demelza, can you be Keeper for a game?"

Demelza nodded, already looking worried.

"I can be Chaser alone enough to keep the score from getting away too quickly," Alex said. "It's down to Ginny getting the Quaffle, though."

The others nodded as Ginny flew over on Harry's Firebolt.

Madam Hooch agreed to let me be Seeker, but no one else can switch. Alex swore but nodded just as Madam Hooch blew her whistle. What felt like hours later, the game was over. They'd scraped a win, but only by ten points with Ginny catching the Snitch. They all returned to the Locker room and changed, then headed for the school, Ginny flying to it with Harry's broom and heading for the Hospital Wing at a sprint. Alex, on the otherhand, led the rest of the team on a war march for the Common Room. Sure enough, McLaggen was sitting in one of the seats, finally free of Langlock but looking moody and offended. As soon as Alex entered, McLaggen stood, opening his mouth to shout, only for his mouth to vanish as Alex brandished his wand. A flash of blue light later, and McLaggen slammed to the ground, stiff as a board. Alex added the Disillusionment Charm then levitated him out through the portrait jole, following after him, before they all headed for the Room of Requirement. Once in the DA's training room, he ended his spells and McLaggen, face flushed with fury, rounded on him.

"What the fuck are we doing here!?" McLaggen demanded. "Where is here!? What are you playing at jinxing me!?"

"I gave you a warning, McLaggen," Alex said icily. "And that's not jinxing you. That might come later. Right now, we're going to...educate you on your place as a stand in team member."

McLaggen caught on instantly as Peakes and Coote cracked their knuckles. He brandished his wand, only for Alex to flixk his own, a Knockback Jinx sending McLaggen crashing into the wall, his wand clattering to the ground. Then, Alex and the other team members raised their wands as one. Each sent a different hex into McLaggen, leaving his face swollen, boils covering him, antlers and a pig tail protruding from him, his left hand as a hoof, and his front teeth hanging to his knees. They all nodded approvingly and deposited him and his wand in the hallway as the Room of Requirement's door sank back into the wall.

"That was satisfying," Demelza said.

"Very," Alex nodded. "I'm heading to the Hospital Wing. Someone make sure McLaggen ends up there."

Everyone nodded, Coote volunteering for McLaggen duty, and Alex left. A few minutes later, he sat beside Harry, explaining how the match went after he'd been hit.

"At least we won," Harry sighed.

Alex nodded. "I'm going to restart the DA. Still got your coin?"

"It's in my trunk somewhere," Harry said. "I'm not teaching again."

"I know," Alex nodded. "I just wanted to let you know."

Harry nodded and Alex left, asking Luna to help him spread the news to the old members, then asking the same of the Gryffindor members once he reached the Common Room. Two days later, Harry and Ron both got out of the Hospital Wing on Monday, and things almost went back to normal. Almost being the key word, because, according to Ron, Harry now had Dobby and Kreacher following Malfoy to see where he disappeared to when he wasn't on the Marauder's Map, or Alex's watch's map, as he'd checked for Harry a few disappearances ago. Finally, Monday night, as Harry was attending his meeting with Dumbledore, the first meeting of the DA began in the usual place, though a few faces were missing, namely Cho, Marrietta, who had not been invited, and Zacharias Smith.

"Right, so, I've got a few things to go over before we begin," Alex said. "First off, simce this group's no longer illegal, it's alright to bring new people if you feel like, but if they cause problems, they won't be coming back, and if it's bad enough, you won't be welcome either."

"Why'd you restart these meetings?" Ernie Macmillan asked.

"Because I was in the Department of Mysteries when we fought Death Eaters, and I know that none of you, with a handful of possible exceptions if you're lucky, would stand a chance in a real fight," Alex said. "In the interest of making sure as many pwople whose names I know survive to be old as possible, I've decided to get you there."

"Why do you care if we die?" Ernie asked.

"I'm sorry, do you want to die?" Ron asked.

"Ron!" Hermione hissed.

"I care," Alex said, feeling his chest constrict, "because I just had several members of my family be murdered over the summer." He squeezed Luna's hand as she did the same. "I know how much that hurts, and I figure your family would appreciate you not dying."

Ernie fell silent, looking a little ashamed.

"Now," Alex said. "If nobody else has a problem with learning to keep yourselves alive, can I continue?"

Everyone remained silent.

"Good," Alex said. "So, you may have noticed a few extras to the room this year." He gestured around at several wood and metal Desth Eater statues around the room, each with a target on their chests. "I'll be teaching you all a few spells to fend off a list of different creatures Vol...You-Know-Who, might use as weapons. Among those is Inferi, so one will be a fire spell. Obviously, we'll be very careful using it, we'll be having a couple of teachers here to help with that, and we'll be going one at a time. I've already got McGonagall to agree to help with it. But that won't be today, or soon. First, we're going to be working on the Patronus Charm some more and also non-verbal magic. The sixth-years should understand by now why that's important both in school and out, and it'll give the rest of you a head start for your sixth year."

There were a few mutters of excitement.

"Will we be doing Wandless Magic?" Michael Corner asked.

"No," Alex said. "I doubt anyone in this room would be able to do that at all. Veey few adult wizards can pull that off. Anyway, we'll start with the Patronus Charm today." He waved his wand and his unicorn burst into existance, galoping around the room excitedly, and all of his and Luna's tiny pets took off to play with him. "For anyone who doesn't remember, that's 'Expecto Patronum' and requires you to think of the absolute happiest memory you've got, but if you don't have a memory that fits the bill, it might, maybe, be possible to think of something else, as long as you can make yourself happy with it."

Everyone nodded, and when Alex motioned for them to begin, they all spread out and began to practice. Hermione, having mastered the spell last year, conjured an otter on her second attempt. Luna conjured hers non-verbally as easily as Alex, while Ginny summoned her horse patronus just as easily, though she had to say the incantation. Ron struggled for a moment with his before managing to conjure a Jack Russle Terrier. A couple other Patronuses joined the crowd after a few minutes, and by the time Alex decided to move on to non-verbal spells, almost a quarter of the group, excluding those who succeeded at the start, had managed it. Neville managed a non-corporeal one, but even that was an impressive feat. Especially for him.

When non-verbal spells began, however, for obvious reasons, everyone below sixth year failed miserably, and a lot of the sixth years did as well. Neville managed a Stunning Spell, but claimed to have been trying for a Disarming Charm. Ron managed a Banishing Charm but meant to cast a Stunning Spell. Finally, as the last bit, everyone was formed up along two walls and called in in random pairs for dueling practice, though he kept Hermione, Luna, and Ginny restricted to dueling each other and himself to be fair, as they were admittedly to skilled for the others. Then, finally, they all left for their common rooms once Alex had decided to call it for the night.

Over the next week, things passed relatively smoothly. The main issue was the homework, but even that wasn't bad. Then, on Saturday, Alex managed his first and second successful attempts to Apparate. However, when he tried for a third, he found himself suddenly missing both arms and legs. He was getting unsettlingly used to leaving limbs behind, he found, but at least he was getting closer.
