I do not own Destiny or any of its characters.
A.N.: Still taking votes for the D1 Guardian's race and class.
Ultimate Vex
"It's open again!"
Hunter spun, staring at the portal as something began to emerge. Terror flooded him. It was here. He didn't know how he knew, but he knew. And then, it really was there. It stood more than double his height, it had a thin, angular head with six blade-like fins sticking up in fans on the sides of its head, three per side running front to back, its body was heavily plated, as were all Vex bodies, but its neck and ribs were in metal splints, likely giving it flexibility while also giving the appearance of a ribcage, its legs were shaped like a Wyvern's, but with the toes ending in sharp points, its tail was long, jagged, razor sharp, and tipped in a point, and its arms, all six of them, were long, armor-plated, could bend any way needed on each of their ball joints, and were tipped in foot-long, glowing, orange blades. Somehow, without knowing exactly how, Hunter knew that this Vex's core was in its head, with metal strong enough to shrug off a rocket blast. The thing's single, glowing, red eye fixed on Hunter, and the thing emitted a high, piercing, unearthly sour note in a deafening shriek, the sound lasting only for a second but echoing in Hunter's head long padt, partially from his ears ringing and partially from his memory of dying replaying the sound over and over.
"Kill it!" a Guardian shouted, sprinting forward with a Grenade Launcher, firing rapidly.
However, as his gun ran dry, the thing was unharmed. Then, it shrieked again, and it was its turn. It launched itself forward in a lightning-fast jump, its foot exploding down on the Guardian's chest, crushing it. However, as it flung his corpse out to its right, its right arms all swung, the blades turning into a flash of orange before the Guardian's body separated into pieces, severed across the torso, waist, and knees, the Guardians right arm also having been severed in two places. At the same moment as the thing slashed, however, a pulse of blueish Light Energy exploded from a spot beside the Guardian's body as the Guardian's cloaked Ghost was killed.
"No way!" Spark breathed. "Even his Ghost..."
The think shrieked again as one of the Guardians formed a pair of Void blades, then warped in front of him. The Guardian slashed, but the Vex's blades flashed through the air from both sides, and another pulse of Light Energy went off as the Guardian's body parts collapsed to the ground. The next formed a bostaff from Arc Energy, using it to block the Vex's right arms, then its left. It slashed from the right again, but only with two. Hunter's arms snapped up, his Hand Cannons firing into its head instantly, but it ignored him, and his shots deflected. It slashed from the left again, andthe Guardian blocked them, only for the unused right arm to flash around. Another Ghost destroyed. Another Guardian dead.
"Get her out of here!" Hunter shouted at the Hero instantly, shoving Elsie at him.
"No!" Elsie shrieked as the last Guardian besides Hunter and the Hero began to sprint around the Vex, firing with his Machine Gun, only for it to warp behind him, killing him and his Ghost instantly.
"This is the Vex that killed me, Elsie," Hunter said as the Vex shrieked, turning toward them.
"I know!" Elsie said. "You can't fight it alone again! Please! Hunter!"
"Take her!" Hunter thundered ober her pleas.
The Hero threw her over his shpulder instantly and ran. Hunter reached out, Spark appearing over his palm.
"Please," Spark said. "Don't do this."
"You'll have one minute from my death," Hunter said. "Don't miss it."
He hurled Spark after the Hero, and he caught the Ghost, leaving the room. Hunter turned back to the Vex as it shrieked again, drawing itself up. Hunter sighed, tossing his Galliard and Rocket Launcher aside to lighten himself, using his SIVA to make himself lighter while reinforcing his muscles. Durability was pointless against this Vex, this apostle of death. Then, he drew his melee daggers and Arc Energy screamed along his daggers and arms. Then, he exploded forward, leaping forward to pass close to its left side. There was an orange flash, and his legs spun away in sections. He screamed in pain, but focused, slashing the Vex's side as his legs regenerated. He landed on his feet and spun, ducking under another slash before leaping, slashing up the Vex's front. It slashed again and his body below mid chest scattered. He flipped what was left, slashing upward at the same time as reforming a very thin, basic, mechanical body.
His slash interrupted the Vex's, one right arm spinning away before he landed on his feet and dropped into a squat, his horns spinning into the air. He spun, slashing downward and taking off a left arm. He leapt into the air, his body reforming the rest of the way in mid air, and flipped over the Vex, driving his daggers into its shoulders. Before he could do more, however, an arm flashed over it, severing his arms at his elbows before the tail slammed into him, hurling him away. He grosned as he began to stand, the gash from the tail reforming only partially, and his arms reforming but remaining fragile. He also failed to be able to reform his melee daggers. He was out of energy. His SIVA needed to recharge, or maybe generate more as a stockpile. This would be his last chance.
He focused, Void Energy forming a pair of curved blades in reverse grip before he charged. Two arms flashed down and skipped off of his void blades before he flipped backward, a pair of blades appearing along his shin, severing the arms. He slashed downward with his left arm as he got rightside up, and a blade slammed into the Void Blade. The Void Blade exploded, blowing Hunter's left arm and bits of his torso away, but also blasting both of the Vex's remaining arms. As he landed, the Vex's foot crashed down on his left leg, shattering it. He shrieked in agony, then slashed, removong the leg. The Vex shrieked, falling backward as its stub skidded across the ground. As it crashed to the ground, Hunter struggled to clamber up onto his right leg, only for the Vex's tail to drive itself through his chest.
He felt his consciousness beginning to fade instantly, but forced himself to stay conscious as the Vex lifted him over it. Then, he slashed, removing the tail just before himself and fell, driving the blade through the Vex's eye and into its core. The Vex's eye flickered and went dark as Radiolaria ran out the back of the Vex's head, and Hunter's body, what remained of it, went limp, the lights of his own eyes blinking more and more quickly before fading altogether.
"Hunter!" Elsie shrieked, sprinting into the room, the Hero just behind her with numerous bullet holes in his armor, Spark flying at Elsie's side.
"I need your help!" Spark shouted to the other Ghost, streaking forward and beginning to shine Light Energy on Hunter.
After barely a second, the Hero's Ghost joined Spark as the Hero held Elsie back, out of their way.
"Can you save him?" the Hero asked.
"Yes," Spark said. "Another few seconds and we couldn't have, but yes, we can revive him. This will be his second revival after becoming a Guardian."
"Second?" Elsie asked.
"He died just after escaping the Pit of Heresy, as well, but Cayde's Ghost and I were able to revive him then, too," Spark explained as Hunter's body shone and began to regenerate, Spark powering Hunter's SIVA with Light Energy.
"The Pit of Heresy?" the Hero asked. "Oh, so he's the one. I'd have never guessed."
Spark fell silent, focusing on reviving Hunter, and slowly, ever so slowly, Hunter's SIVA began to reform his body.
