I do not own Destiny or any of its characters.

A.N.: For the sake of time, my sanity, and slightly more "realistism" as opposed to purely gameplay mechanics, I'm making slight changes to probably all of the encounters.

Keeping a Promise

Hunter felt Elsie glance at him and looked over at her, setting the autopilot. "What is it?"

"You seem...unusually driven to fulfill your promise to Petra," Elsie said. "More than I've ever seen."

"It's...complicated," Hunter said. "Petra and I were...close, before I met you again. Before I remembered you. I didn't have my memories, but I was still searching for you instinctively. I was searching for companionship, and Petra..."

"She's important to you," Elsie said.

"Yes," Hunter nodded. "Or...she was. It didn't last long. About as soon as we found out Queen Mara was alive, who she's in love with, she ended things. As a final promise to her, I swore to help kill Riven."

Elsie nodded. "You sound a little bitter."

"I was," Hunter said. "Now that I'm with you, not anymore. This is just...the last of our unfinished business. The last bit of whatever we could have had."

Elsie nodded silently. "There's going to come a time when you'll have to save her from herself. You'll have to convince her to see reason before loyalty. I'll help if I can, but if you can't, she will follow Mara Sov into the Darkness and will lose herself to it."

"Is there a way to save Mara as well?" Hunter asked.

"We can't," Elsie said. "Petra, maybe. If Mara has a tether to the light, it's possible."

Hunter nodded. "And before that, Riven."

Elsie nodded, and they both fell silent. After a few minutes, they, along with the Hero, walked into the temple where they could go to Riven, Petra remaining outside of it, and a voice spoke uo from a wall of darkness oppoaite the door.

"You are finally here," Riven's voice said. "Brother slayer. Spawn killer. All that strength, and you're nothing but a retsiner to the Awoken Queen."

"Is she talking to you?" the Hero asked.

"Yeah," Hunter nodded. "You could be so much more. All you need do is wish it. Come. I would quite like to meet you."

"Everyone focus on the here and now," Hunter said. "No future plans, no desires, no wishes."

Elsie and the Hero both nodded. A tunnel opened high in the wall off to their left, and everyone jumped up into it. They quickly followed it along, climbing or jumping over several low ledges as it rose and wound through whatever part of the Dreaming City they were in.

"Have you come to free the Witches?" Riven asked. "They will resist. Darkness is their shape now."

They leapt across a huge gap and out through a hole in the cavern wall, emerging at the top of a mountain into the sunlight again. However, they turned right again, following the directions Mara had given them by way of Petra, and passed back into a temple. As they reached it, they stopped, staring at a Taken Techeun floating before them. They all drew their weapons, only to spin as Saint-14, Shiro, and Ikora landed behind them, Saint with a shotgun in his hands and a large, double-edged sword across his back, and Ikora with a submachine gun. Hunter sighed.

"I wasn't expecting backup," Hunter said. "You're welcome to stick around, though."

"We appreciate that," Ikora said. "Shiro told me what we're up against. I figured you'd wlcome my help before Zavala's."

"You did support me avenging Cayde," Hunter nodded. "But, then, you also refused to allow Cayde his last wish, so...you're welcome to leave whenever you want. I'm sure we'll live without you."

Ikora sighed. "I'm sorry. We shouldn't have refused you so rashly. But Shiro is the Hunter Vanguard, now-"

"Deputy Hunter Vanguard," Shiro said. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm keeping Hunter's seat warm, and I take my orders from him."

Ikora narrowed her eyes.

"We don't have time for this," the Hero said. "According to Petra, there are three Techeuns on the way to Riven."

"And I'm assuming they're each stronger than the last," Hunter said.

"Aren't they always?" Shiro grinned.

"We should move quickly," Elsie said. "We're probably on borrowed time as it is."

"Agreed," Hunter nodded.

"What are the symbols on the pillars?" Saint asked, pointing to multiple glowing plates on the pillars around the Techeun.

Hunter looked around the room, seeing matching plates in different areas of the room, except for two areas that didn't have plates around the Techeun. "I'm not sure."

"I know," Petra said, dropping out of the tunnel behind them. "I thought you could use an extra hand."

"We could," Hunter nodded. "What is this?"

"It's something like a security system," Petra said. "It protects the person powering it, and in order to shut it off, someone has to stand in each zone marked for roughly a minute. Obviously, in that time, we can easily dispose of the person."

"Or be disposed of," Hunter said. "Lovely." He held his hand out, a harness that looked like leather with several glowing blue lights and a metal section across the back formed. "Take this. It's a self-recharging cloaking harness. It can hold for up to thirty seconds, but needs an equal amount of time to charge."

"My thanks," Petra smiled, pulling it on. "Seems like you've learned a lot since we parted ways."

Hunter smirked. "You don't know the half of it. Okay. Elsie, Petra, Ikora, and the Hero of the Red War-"

"Just call me the Young Wolf," the Hero interrupted. "It's shorter."

"Whatever," Hunter said. "You all will be focusing on whatever Taken I'm sure will be trying to kill us. Shiro, Saint, and myself will disable the security system."

Everyone nodded and scattered around the room, Hunter, Saint, and Shiro all stepping onto the round, copper sections of floor Petra directed them to. As the exact same moment thst they stepped onto them, however, Taken began to appear all around the room in a flood, and on each platform, a pair of black spheres began to appear. Hunter's eyes widened as he sensed the power inaide of them growing. He looked down, seeing that there were three lines running directly across the circle, and the floor of the two sections the spheres floated over was being coated by Darkness. He stepped back onto the untouched third and hia right arm snapped up, sending a Proximity Mine Knife into a Taken Acolyte, killing it before the explosion killed several Taken Thralls. Then, the spheres exploded, only for the blasts to only be large enough to affect the third they were in, though the amount of power they released would be fatal.

"Shiro, Saint, you both survive your bombs?" Hunter asked, hurling a fan of knives into the Taken rushing him before drawing the Ace of Spades.

"Yes," Shiro said.

"I did as well," Saint said. "They appesr to be close range. A third of the platform is safe."

"Yeah," Hunter agreed, a headshot on a Taken Psion detonating and killing five more.

Juat then, two more bombs began to form, Hunter moving to the safe third, sending a fan of knives into a group of Taken. After two more repetitions of bombs charging and exploding, the glowing emblems all faded and Petra announced that the Techeun was vulnerable. They all charged instantly, the Hero firing a rocket, Hunter firing six shots from his Golden Gun, Elsie and Petra both firing as fast as they could, Shiro firing a rocket, as Petra had warned them not to get close, and Saint hurling a Hammer of Sol. A mass of explosions enveloped the Techeun, but as the smoke cleared, Darkness Energy began to mass above her, the sheer power of the attack making it hard to breath.

"In here!" Petra shouted, sprinting to the wall directly below the Techeun and opening a door for each. "These rooms should theoretically protect us!"

"Good enough!" Hunter said, all of them throwing themselves inside.

Less than a second later, an explosion rocked the tiny room, cracks spead over the doors, and Hunter's vision flared completely, blindingly white. Then, as his vision slowly returned, the door in front of him crumbled, as did all of the doors they hadn't used, and a swarm of Taken Thralls charged them, only to die in a hail of gunfire. They all stepped out of the rooms just as the Techeun began to charge the same attack again.

"Oh no you fucking don't!" Hunter shouted, leaping into the air and forming a Shadowshot with a Stasis arrow.

The shot froze the Techeun and formed a singularity against her chest, and once she was frozen, the energy she'd gathered exploded early, hurling them all backward but not killing anyone.

"Kill her, now!" Hunter ahouted, forming a spear of Arc Energy and hurling it.

At the same time, Saint hurled another Hammer of Sol, Shiro streamed Arc Energy along his melee dagger and hurled it, and Ikora hurled a Nova Bomb. All of the strikes found their mark and exploded at the same time, however, just as the smoke began to clear, they felt the Techeun gathering Darkness Energy once again. Then, the Hero leapt at her, Solar light shining from him. Then, it burst into a pair of wings, forming a golden sword in his hand with flames and Solar Energy raging along the blade. Hunter's eyes widened. He hadn't expected the Hero to be a Dawnblade. The Hero pulled the Daybreak back, then hurled it, all of the Solar Energy he'd gathered focused into the blade, and the sword sailed through the air before impaling the Techeun. A split second later, the blade erupted into an explosion, obliterating her.

"Impressive," Hunter said. "You've been holding out."

"So have you," the Hero said. "You haven't used your SIVA to fight yet."

Hunter shrugged. "Excessive force is exhausting."

The Hero shrugged. "Satisfying, though."

"Let's go," Petra said. "We're heading up those stairs."

They others all nodded and followed Petra up a low flight of stairs to a door out of the room, following the hallway on the other side.

"I can give you anything," Riven's voice spoke from all around them.

"You have my thanks, Guardians, but my sister remains enthralled," a new female voice said, Petra identigying it as the Techeun they'd just fought, and apparently cured rather than killing.

"What is it you want?" Riven asked. "Weapons? Glory? Peace? Or is it simpler than that?"

"Without Shuro Chi, we csnnot defeat Riven," the Techeun, Kalli, continued as they reached the end of the hallway and the beginning of a cave system, starting with a vertical shaft with ledges to jump to. "Find her. Save her. And know this. Riven will try to seduce you. When she speaks, do not listen."

They reached a thin ledge wrapping to the right along a cliff face and followed it. From there, they jumped to the underside of a bridge, Hunter carrying Petra, then ran along the supports. When those ended, they jumped toward a ledge in the cliff face ahead of them in the distance, the non-Worlocks using several bursts of Light to jump a second and third time. Saint, however, was simply carried by the arms by Ikora and the Hero as they glided over, since his weight made it unlikely he'd clear the gap. They leapt across several more ledges wrapping around the cliff on the left before reaching a path along the top of the cliffs. Hunter set Petra on her feet and they all ran along the path before reaching a large set of gilded double-doors. They stopped so that everyone could check their ammo and catch their breath if needed, then puahed through the doors and into the next room.

"Oh ho ho," Riven chortled belittlingly. "You are so tiny. Yet you continue to make enemies of so many gods and monsters."

Just as the doors opened, a flood of Taken rushed forward to meet them, only for Hunter to step in front, hurling two fans of Solar-charged Proximity Mine Knives into them, the augmented explosions slaughtering them all.

"Like I said," the Hero smirked behind his mask. "Satisfying."

Hunter ignored him as they all flowed into the room. They could see Shuro Chi in the distance, but Taken were appearing around her in waves.

"Shuro Chi is known for her resillience," Kalli warned them. "I will form you weapons to make her vulnerable. Three of you will have to use them to form a triangle around her, which will syphon away her barrier. However, you will likely not be able to defeat her in one try, as you did me. If she can raise her defenses again, I will aid you again."

Hunter and the others all made a beeline for Shuro Chi, slaughtering the Taken that rushed them. Finally, they neared her just in time for three oddly-shaped weapons to appear. Hunter, Shiro, and the Hero all grabbed them instantly, firing at each other's cannon, each facing the person to their right. The cannons shattered, but the thick, shining, blue beams they fired connexted and flashed before fading, along with the white barrier around Shuro Chi. Instantly, everyone turned, unloading at her as she hurled balls of Darkness at them, which they avoided. Hunter shot forward, grabbing his SIVA Lament, and leapt at her, slashing, only for her to bat him aside with a backhanded slap, then chase him. He flipped, landing on his feet as the sword's jet screamed to life. He exploded forward at double his last speed, but when he slashed, despite the speed boost, it was still too slow, too heavy, to make contact before she batted him away agin. And then, she hurled a sphere of darkness after him just as the barrier from before reappesred and she warped away to a different part of the room.

Hunter flipped, using the sword to block the blast, since he didn't have time to dodge it, but as the explosion hurled him backward, the top half of his blade spun away breaking down into broken SIVA drones. Hunter narrowed his eyes and focused, the sword's remaining half changing shape. It thinned, then grew outward into a long, single-edged blade with a tan hilt that included a fingerguard and a glowing purple jewel, or a replica of it at least, in the back just above the grip, a long, purple blade that reflected white along the edge, a long, thin strip of the same metal as the blade along behind it to connect to the back of the blade where it curled backward at the point, making it look like the blade was missing a section in the middle, which it was. Behind the back edge of the blade was a long, thin, steel tube that ran to a tan metal object between the two blade segments, arranged to be directly at the end of the hollow section. Extending from that piece to the hilt inside the hollow section were a pair of power couplings, and as soon as the weapon was fully formed, Arc Energy began to scream along the hollow section, electrifying the blade as the steel tube collected the excess heat and vented it.

"Worldline Zero," Elsie recognized the weapon.

"Your favorite creation before you made your rifle," Hunter nodded. "Now, where were we?"

He shot forward, past the others, and began to carve his way through the Taken, wielding the still rather large sword with only his right hand hand, leaving his left free to use knives, either by slashing or stabbing or by throwing. The others struggled to keep up with his much more violent method of attack, but were able to cover him all the same, slaughtering anything he couldn't reach. Finally, they reached Shuro Chi as three of the beam weapons appeared, the same three grabbing them and forming a triangle. As the barrier faded, this time, Hunter hurled a SIVA grenade into Shuro Chi, then launched himself to her after everyone else's Light or Darkness attacks had ended. Shuro Chi begsn to tirn to him, only for him to slash her down the front, actually forcing her to the ground as Arc Energy screamed across her body, then spun, slashing her twice before Elsie's Lament's engine screamed and the sword ripped through her to Elsie's left, swung around and ripped back out to Elsie's right, then swung down and yanked Elsie in an upward slash so hard it pulled her into the air. As she and Hunter both leapt away from Shuri Chi, Hunter dropped a SIVA Grenade beside her, then hurled a fan of Proximity Mine Knives. A moment later, the SIVA drones burrowing into her were blasted by the knives, and the chemical they were releasing, a gas form of Azidoazide Azide, the single most volatile and non-nuclear explosive chemical compound humanity had ever discovered, which dated back all the way to before the Traveler, detonated, obliterating Shuro Chi from the inside, the explosion also hurling everyone and burning them, due to an underestimation of the explosive potential.

"Fuck, thst hurt," Hunter groaned.

"You suck, Hunter," Shiro groaned.

"Too much excessive force," the Hero coughed. "Not satisfying anymore."

He and Ikora both raised a hand, and a pair of Daybreak swords stabbed into the ground, a circle of the ground shining with golden energy as the sword also shone. Then, a beam of Light shone into the air a few feet before branching and shining back down on everyone, healing them all, including both Elsie and Petra.

"What the hell was that explosion?" Petra asked.

"Azidoazide Azide," Hunter said. "A chemical compound thst's too reactive to do anything with."

"Reactive?" Saint asked.

"It'll explode from anything," Hunter explained. "Including leaving it alone."

"I love it," Saint said excitedly.

Petra sighed, shaking her head. "You Guardians and your violence. Come on. We need to keep moving."

Everyone nodded and followed her out of the building, then to a large door leading into the next.

"You saved my sister," another new voice, likely Shuro Chi, said. "Thank you."

"You sully the sacred architecture of a culture you cannot understand," Riven spoke. "All so you can say you won today."

They reached a room with a large tree in the center, and Hunter picked Petra up before he and the others all jumped from one bend in the tree to the next, climbing it quickly before leaping to the next doorway.

"Ahamkara feed on desires," Shuro Chi said. "Your desires could feed a nation of such beasts. They grow until they shadow the sun. Kill it. Rip out its heart. Bring it to us. We will purify it. Only then will Riven be contained."

They worked their way along the side of a cliff, yet again, and ascended the mountain as quickly as they could, using ledges and trees to climb.

"The Awoken kept me here so long," Riven said. "A better fate than my kin suffered. But paradise is a prison when you cannot leave. I would so love to repay the hospitality of those who used my words to carve this city into the screaming surface of reality."

They finally reached a landing pad, only to pass through a Taken portal into the Ascendant Plane.

"There is no end to the Taken," Riven warned. "You have stolen from them more than they could ever take from you. You are destined to fight forever."

Still ignoring the voice of the Ahamkara, they leapt from one flosting chunk of debris to another, slowly crossing a massive chasm reaching from their landing pad to a higher one ahead of them. Finally, they passed through a portal at the edge of the landing pad and exited it onto the landing pad in the real world. However, they all stopped there, staring at a mass of darkness with glowing green sections like an egg sack.

"What is that?" Hunter asked.

"I have no idea," Petra said as he set her on her feet. "Most likely dangerous."

"Joy," Hunter sighed. "Alright. Let's go."

They all walked forward cautiously, but as they neared the thing, it suddenly burst, leaving behind a massive Taken Ogre more than double a normal one. They all fired up at it, but their ahots bpunced off. Then, Taken began to appear around the landing pad. They all turned, charging the normal Taken instead, and instantly noticed a problem. Pillars of Darkness with small Taken Blights in the center began to appear, and as one, every Ghost present shouted a warning that they were feeding the giant Ogre strength.

"What do we do?" Hunter asked.

"Grab them!" Spark shouted. "I'll explain as you go!"

Hunter, the Hero, and Saint all sprinted for the Blights, grabbing them, and instantly felt Darkness surge through them, their bodies transforming into that of Taken.

"Force it out through your hand!" Spark shouted to all three.

All three complied and began to spray blasts of Darkness Energy that exploded, slaughtering any Taken around the impact points.

"Listen carefully," Spark said through everyone's comms. "Picking up a Blight will corrupt you, but not enough to make you Taken or kill you. With Petra and Elsie as exceptions, as they have no Light, you can pick up two without dying before the corruption is too bad to survive, and your Ghosts can cure it, but it will take time."

"That thing will brobably spawn more Blights, so force the Darkness out in a single explosion, now!" the Hero's Ghost ordered.

All three landed in separare groups of Taken, this time including Taken Ogres, and forced the Darkness out, killing all of the Taken around them just as more Blights appeared.

"Same three grab them!" Saint's Ghost, Geppetto, ordered.

They complied, beginning to once again slaughter the Taken with their new, disgusting power. Then, when instructed by Spark, they shoved the power out of themselves. Almost instantly, the giant Ogre roared and a tornado of Darness erupted to life around Saint, who froze in place instantly as more Blights appeared.

"Shiro, use a Blight explosion to destroy the tornado!" Shiro's Ghost, Suzume, ordered.

Shiro complied as Ikora grabbed the next Blight in place of Hunter or the Hero. As soon as Saint was free, however, Geppetto shouted in surprise.

"Okay, new plan!" Geppetto said. "Shiro took Saint's corruption, so only someone not corrupted can disperse a Tornado!"

Saint took the hint and shot forward, grabbing the last Blight. Just as he did, Ikora detonated her Darkness. At the same time, a single, slightly larger Blight appeared in front of the massive Ogre, which doubled over, its back buldging like a blister.

"Now!" Spark shouted. "Target its back!"

That was all the instruction anyone needed. As one, a pair of Hammers of Sol, A massive cloud of dozens of Solar-charged Proximity Mine Knives, a pair of Stasis Crystal kamas, a pair of Rockets, courtesy of Petra borrowinf Hunter and the Hero's, a thrown Arc Staff, and a total of six Daybreak swords all exploded into the Ogre's back as one. The resulting explosion dwarfed the Ogre, but as it cleared the Ogre remained, frozen by Elsie's still-raging Stasis Storm. Hunter narrowed his eyes and exploded forward, leaping into the air and pulling his right arm back. Then, as he swung it forward, SIVA raced into the air in three enormous clouds, which spiralled together like a braid, a lethal point on the bottom, and drilled into the Ogre before Hunter launched himself backward to the others.

"Saint, Ward of Dawn, now!" Hunter roared. "Max power!"

Saint complied instantly, but as he did, Hunter focused harder than he ever had before.

"We've never tried this!" Spark warned. "We don't evwn know if-"

"No time like the present!" Hunter snarled, then shoved with his Void Energy.

Instantly, a second Ward of Dawn expanded from him, merging with Saint's and reinforcing it, though the strain on Hunter was excrutiating. The Hero and Ikora both drove a Daybreak sword into the ground, forming a single, massive Well of Radiance below them all, barely a second after Saint had formed his Ward of Dawn, the Light shining on Hunter reducing the agony of holding an ability belonging to a class that he did not, as well as slowing the drain on his Void Energy.

"Why are we-" Saint began, only to be drowned out by the massive, earth-shaking explosion thst suddenly errupted from where the massive Taken Ogre had been. The joint Ward of Dawn flickered but held, though doing so brought both Guardians to their knees, and after a few seconds, the explosion finally ended, leaving the entire landing pad scoetched, cracked, sporting a crater for most of it, and enshrouded in thick black smoke.

"More Azidoazide Azide?" the Hero asked.

"Well, it worked so well the first time," Hunter said. "Told you it would still explode without fire."

"Oh my God," Elsie breathed as the smoke began to thin, allowing them to see the extent of the damage.

"You are worse than a Titan," Ikora said, shaking her head. "Zavala would be proud."

"Cayde would be, too," Shiro said.

The Light from the Well of Radiance faded and Hunter and Saint both stood, stretching their shoulders for a moment before pulling their weapons back out.

"Let's go," Hunter said. "We should be close, right?"

"Sure you don't want to do that again and just throw us all there with an explosion?" the Hero asked. "Might save time."

"That last one cost me," Hunter said. "My SIVA are restocking."

"That's not all," Spark said. "You burned out almost all of your Light Energy. The Well of Radiance helped, but you won't be able to use Solar, Void, or Arc abilities for days, maybe a week."

"So, guns and Stasis it is," Hunter said, drawing his Pulse Rifle.

"Use Stasis sparingly for now," Elsie advised. "Do you have ammo for your Hand Cannons?"

"Don't need it," Hunter said. "I added an auto-refill function with my SIVA. About two seconds per bullet."

Elsie nodded. "Good. Just...be careful."

Hunter nodded, and they all headed for the door into the building, a door Hunter had reduced to a gaping hole in the wall.

"You don't hesitate to reach into the Deep," Riven spoke. "Your kind is so brave. Those with conviction pair best with my kind. Like you. Like the Awoken prince. Shall we be friends?"

They all followed the hallways and stairs through the temple to a room with dozens of statues in risers like bleachers, and a gravity lift at the center. They all rode it up, and emerged into a large room with an Oracle Engine, or something similar, in the center of it.

"You're so close, friend," Riven spoke. "Find me. Kill me. My heart is yours."

As if on cue, Taken began to swarm out of the three rooms. One of them had a large rock formstion in the center, one a tree, and one a large metal sphere. As the Taken swarmed, Hunter and the others slaughtered them. Hunter frowned as they easily held the Taken back. There were a lot, but they weren't overly strong. However, the main problem was the distinct lack of an exit from the room.

"Which way, Petra?" Hunter asked.

"We have to unlock the path," Petra said. "See the glowing purple spots on the floor?"

They all glanced around, seeing three spots with multiple purple rings each.

"Yup," Hunter said.

"Stand on them," Petra ordered.

She, Hunter, and Elsie made it to the plates first, only for a pulse of Darkness to instantly throw them all off, a spinning pillar of Taken Energy forming over each.

"Oh, now what?" Shiro snapped.

"The Taken are keeping it locked," Petra said.

"We'll have to cleanse the pads, then," Hunter said, just as a Taken Knight died and dropped an orb of Taken Energy.

He snatched it up instantly and sensed it harmonizing, or at least connect, to one of the tornados. He ran over to it and pulsed the Taken Energy out of his body, the tornado fading. Everyone instantly redoubled their efforts to slaughter the Taken, and when another ob dropped beside the large rock, Saint charged in, snatching it up, only for several Taken Thralls to explode, reforming as a wall of Darkness, sealing the room.

"Now what?" Saint asked.

"There should be a tunnel to your right that leads to the next room!" Petra shouted over the fire.

Saint nodded and looked around before charging into the tunnel, firing explosive blasts from his hand, as they had against the massive Ogre outside, until he reached the room with the tree, making a beeline for one of the tornados. As Hunter had, he pulsed the Darkness out of his body beside it, and the tornado faded. Just then, a Knight with its sword shining gold appeared from the wall of Darkness and charged for the remaining tornado. Without even needing to ask, they all spun, opening fire rapidly. Saint rammed his shoulder into the Knight, knocking it off course at the last second, making it miss the tornado and allowing them to kill it before it could get to it. A few seconds later, another Knight dropped an Orb and the Hero caught it, running for the last tornado. However, just before he could cleanse it, another glowing Knight stepped into the way, raising its shield, and while the blast did kill it, it didn't cleanse the tornado, and a moment later, a pair of Taken Thralls stepped onto the two cleansed pads and erupted into new tornados.

Hunter groaned. "I'm getting really tired of this shit."

"Shouldn't hace wasted your Light Energy," the Hero said.

Finally, Hunter leapt into the air at the same time as Elsie, both hurling a pair of Stasis Crystal kamas into the ground on oppoaite sides of the oracle, freezing dozens of Taken before a pair of storms began to rage around the room, freezing and shattering Taken, scattering their remains as shrapnel. Within seconds, three Taken orbs dropped and Saint, Hunter, and Shiro each grabbed one, sprinting to the tornados and cleansing them. Off to one side, a door rumbled open, and they all sighed, heading for it. Petra quickly led them to a hallway to the left, then along it. Darkness filled the corridor like smoke, rising from the ground. The hallway gave way to a tunnel, and after a few minutes, they passed a huge, glowing, blue crystal.

Finally, they reached a large, darkened room with a truly massive Taken Blight hanging in the air above them. They passed through the room, however, and followed a hallway to a ledge, which they jumped off of, falling over a hundred feet before using pulses of Light or Dark Energy to break their momentum, Saint carrying Petra this time, then followed the corridor they'd landed in front of. Then, finally, they reached a large room with crystals spread around it for light as several Taken appeared. As they did, Hunter and the others killed them all instantly, only to fall still as their target appeared.
