Infiltrator

Jet grinned as Lance and Ilana finally walked through the door. He hadn't actually expected Lance to ask Ilana on a date, but he had. However, as Ilana headed upstairs to bed and Lance sat in one of the living room chairs, crossing his arms, he could tell something was wrong.

"What happened?" Jet asked. "Did you get into a fight?"

"No, the date went fine, except, it wasn't a date," Lance said. "Not a real one, at least. She thought we were just hanging out together."

"Did you tell her that wasn't what you wanted?" Isabella asked.

"What, and make myself look like an idiot?" Lance asked. "No thanks. Clearly I should just not listen to you. Not everyone can have their soulmate handed to them."

Isabella sighed, standing. "Might as well go see what her side of the story is. Who knows. Maybe you just got the wrong idea."

"Obviously the wrong idea was thst it was ever going to work out between us," Lance huffed as Isabella headed upstairs.

"Give it another chance," Jet advised Lance. "And make it clear that you don't mean to hang out as just friends."

"Yeah, that's not going to happen," Lance said, storming upstairs to bed.

Jet sighed, heading to his and Isabella's room as well, and after a few minutes, Isabella joined him, frowning.

"Let me guess, mirror opposites," Jet said.

"Not exactly," Isabella said. "Ilana said that she was nervous, and kept accidentally acting like they were just hanging out to cover for it. She really did mean for it to be a date, but she was too nervous to act like it."

"Oh boy," Jet sighed. "We'll have to get her to ask him out, then. He refused."

"Yeah, I...don't think that'll happen soon," Isabella said. "She thinks she'll do it again and hurt him."

"She'll hurt him if she doesn't," Jet said.

Isabella nodded. "It's a mess." She climbed onto the bed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "It's a good thing you're an open book, or else we might have been just like that."

"I doubt that very much," Jet smiled, kissing her. "I'm too good-looking for you to have ever risked someone else stealing me."

Isabella laughed. "Maybe. I'm not so sure."

"Mhm," Jet smirked. "Obviously."

Isabella smiled, kissing him, and sighed contentedly as he melted into the kiss as always. Within minutes, as had become frequent when they had time alone together, their pajamas fell to the floor and she moaned into his shoulder as he filled her. Every movement and noise she made was as addictive as their first time the day she'd been able to move well enough for them to do this, and the feeling of her accepting his length and then squeezing it in an effort to keep it from withdrawing sent his head spinning, as did the feeling of her convulsing around him as she broke, dragging him over the edge with her. Once both were spent, multiple rounds later, they both passed out, holding each other tightly.

Jet frowned, watching the new student try and fail to talk to other students, first calling them "my fellow students" then saying "whassup" repeatedly, even though the only people around him were walking away, laughing. Also, he was fit. Like ridiculously. He was about Octus's height in his Newton form, had his hair in a fade, and was as fit as anyone Jet had ever met in the Galalunian military. Which narrowed it down easily.

"Who's that?" Isabella asked, eyeing the boy.

"A member od the army under General Steel who's probably looking for Titan," Jet said. "Obviously military, doesn't know how to act like a high school student, older than a high school student, and he has an earpiece in."

Isabella nodded. "Come on. We're going to be late to class."

Jet nodded and followed her to their first class. She'd chosen Jade as her last name, liking the sound of it, and he agreed that it had a nice ring to it.

"So, need counseling from having your body shut down for days then waking up to a near train crash and a Mutraddi Mega Beast?" Isabella asked.

"Not really," Jet said. "I've decided it's better to deal with these things with a, seen weirder, mindset. Like Mutraddi Ilana."

"Good point," Isabella nodded.

"Besides, as soon as Paris went into borderline stasis, I assumed we would be, too, so I was mentally prepared," Jet said.

Isabella nodded. "Also true."

They dropped into their desks beside each other's and suffered through the boredum of classes until school let out, then headed to the soccer field to watch Ilana play while Lance practiced on his new guitar in the stands. However, after a few minutes, their communicators beeped.

"Isabella and I will stay and keep an eye on the rat," Jet said.

"Okay," Lance agreed. "We'll be back soon."

Jet nodded and Lance and Ilana left to meet up with Octus. As they did, Jet and Isabella headed back inside, the new guy almost instantly ambushing them and demanding an interview, including a camera.

"So, I've heard you're quite the hero, Jet," the boy said. "I heard you fought off a bunch of monsters when they attacked the school."

"If I'm correct in assuming you mean those goo things and that by fought off, you mean flung around the hallway until someone figured out how to kill them, then yeah, I fought them off all by myself," Jet said.

"He can't fight," Isabella said. "He's asthmatic."

"Really?" the guy asked. "And who are you, exactly?"

"His girlfriend," Isabella said, hands on her hips. "So don't get any funny ideas."

"Uh, no, I wasn't..."

"Right, okay, well, we're going to go, now," Jet said. "See you around. Hit on my girl again and I'll break your kneecap with a tire iron then use my inhaler."

"I never said-" Jet slammed the door, grinning, and Isabella giggled into her hand.

"So possessive," Isabella said.

"Have to throw him off balance somehow," Jet shrugged. "We should get home."

Isabella nodded and they headed outside to his bike, Isabella wrapping her arms securely around him before he sped out of the school parking lot and headed home.

Jet shook his head as he listened to the aweful music. He was glad Lance found something he enjoyed, but the music sucked.

The Mutraddi, a serpentine creature that fired blasts of blood red energy and flames out of its tongue, roared, its tongue bulding.

"Now!" Jet shouted, sending a pair of rockets into the tongue just as Octus and Ilana blasted the tongue as well.

The tongue split, then exploded, and the creature shrieked in dismay before following suit. The three of them returned to the forest around the giant metal legs, remains of the second thing Modula sent, then deactivated their armor and rejoined the crowd, finding Isabella where Octus had previously had a pair of holograms of himself and Ilana.

"Is it over?" Jet asked as the crowd roared with cheers.

"I think so," Isabella nodded. "You missed the fireworks."

"Sure I did," Jet snorted.

Isabella gave him a quick kiss before they headed back to their vehicles. Once Lance had joined them, they all headed home.

Jet smiled as he watched Isabella pulling her dress on. It was elegant but simple, and fit her perfectly, even for some fancy high school dance.

"You clean up nicely," Isabella smiled at him in the mirror.

"No, you're still talking to a mirror, Isabella," Jet said.

Isabella laughed. "Touché. Shall we?"

They headed downstairs as the others dates, Kimmy for Octus, Jason for Ilana, and Mirabelle, a random unpopular girl Lance had defaulted to after the one girl he cared to ask out, besides Ilana, rejected him. They all took a few pictures before heading out to the limo Octus had ordered for them. However, juwt as they sat down inside, Octus went rigid.

"No!" Kimmy snapped instantly. "Don't even say it!"

"Actually," Jet spoke up, everyone looking at him, including Octus, "I'm the one who needs to use the bathroom this time. Enjoy the ride, Octus. Have a fun night."

"I'm going to have to bow out, too," Isabella smiled. "Can I borrow your watch, though, Ilana? It's easier to make fun of him for taking too long if I can time it."

"Ew!" Kimmy and Mirabelle both said.

Ilana hesitated before passing her the Corus armor. "Meet us at the dance."

"We will," Jet smiled, climbing out with Isabella.

The limo pulled away and both sighed before walking out of plain view and activating their armor, Isabella promptly falling over, then standing again.

"I have to give her props for handling this armor so well," Isabella said. "Let's see. The thrusters should be..."

Corus blasted off and Jet followed, catching up quickly, just as Isabella accidentally blasted a river with her forehead laser.

"Whoops!" Isabella said. "My bad."

"I'll handle the fighting while you get the hang of usinf the armor," Jet said. "Then you can save me."

Isabella laughed and nodded. After a few minutes, they reached a field of windmills and stopped, looking around. However, before either had time to react, a creature roughly the size of Titan appeared over them, swatting them aeay, then roaring. It looked like some kind of rocky, six-legged dog or cat, and it was horrifyingly fast.

"Oh, we may have fucked up," Jet said.

"We are too slow, and too small for our weapons to get through that thing's skin," Isabella said. "Now what?"

"Well, if we can't go through the skin..." Jet trailed off, using the Manus's harlight capsules to form a pair of double-edged swords.

"Got it," Isabella nodded as he tossed her a sword.

Both flew forward, and when the thing lunged, they shot toward its mouth, only for it to leap away, then jump back to them from behind, swatting them again. Jet growled. They needed to get inside. As fast as it was, they were lucky it was playing with them instead of using its claws, but it they couldn't get into its mouth, they were finished. They pushed themselves up, only to be batted off the ground, then slammed back into it a second later. The besting this time dragged on for nearly a minute, until their armor was groaning and shrieking as they moved. Then, finally, it swallowed them.

"Oh, it is about fucking time!" Jet shouted, instantly flying to the wall of its throat and carving his way into it, Isabella at his side in an instant.

After a moment, they broke free of the throat, ignoring the deafening shriek of the creature, and looked around until the spotted the chest cavity containing two hearts. Both opened fire instantly, and after a long few moments, the hearts both erupted, thick green blood flooding toward them. They raced back to the throat, slipping through just as the creature collapsed, then flew out its mouth before deactivating their armor.

"Jesus I hope our armor regenerates," Jet sighed.

"Yeah, it definitely took a beating," Isabella agreed. "But our plan worked, eventually."

"True," Jet nodded. "Think we can make it back in time for the dance?"

"Not a chance," Isabella said. "But we might be able to get an hour of sleep before morning."

Jet chuckled. "Better than nothing."

She nodded in agreement ans he formed his armor, picking her up and flying back toward their house, noticing the distinct lack of an auto-repair function.
