AN: Thanks for all the incredible responses! Keep them coming! I know replies get long, but I love that so many are still following me on the incredible journey that is this story. See previous chapter for explanation on realms. Now that the realms are united, everyone is on Storybrooke time and aging for adults is very slow due to the Chalice.
Thanks for the great reviews! Keep them coming! The feedback gives this story life, so please consider leaving a review! Unless you're a troll, because then your reviews get deleted. You can also follow me on Tumblr Lilacmoon83. All my stories, plus artwork is posted there, as well as all things Snowing and Charming family. So give me a follow!
Another special note: Since several people seem to be missing it, I've had questions about Ingrid and her sisters and the Northuldra. It is NOT a plot hole. Please refer to chapter 230. It is explained there and some seem to be missing it. Ingrid and Helga were Northuldra, but Ingrid and Helga were away the day Runeard attacked. To keep Ingrid from destroying everything in rage, the rock trolls stepped in and took their memories of their true origins. If you read the beginning of chapter 230, it's explained.
Also, someone did ask about what season we would be in by now, so I decided to do a season breakdown:

Here are individual responses to reviews:
Ghostwriter: Thanks, glad you love it! I like that Amora can be anyone she wants to be. It adds a little mystery to it. Thanks, glad you think so!
Sexystarwarslover: Yep, it's a trap. Yep, it's definitely Witchcraft, but also my favorite Sinatra song, lol. Yeah, I only remember seeing a little bit of the original Hunchback, but Phoebus wasn't really a heroic character, so I used that and amplified that, giving him a huge ego and him thinking he's some kind of hero. Glad you like the face claim. Yep, mine too. Fandral survived in my mind too and is with Rose Red. Yep, Killian is Harbor Master and standing up for his father-in-law. Yeah, the whole family is going to see Bobby off to his first dance. Yep, Lady Sif is visiting again. Yep, the Enchantress is back, but they won't immediately know it and even when they do, she no longer looks the same.
I love that Snow is emotional and the whole family is there to see Bobby and Zia off. Yep, Rourke worked for Clayton and was there during that time. Yep, those scene bring back memories of earlier chapters. Snowing date night! And amusement park for the kids. Leo and Emma at the buffet table was hilarious, as usual. Yep, Alexandra is head of security. Yep, they all have that Charming hero complex. Eva's podcast is a massive success, while Goldie's is tanking. And she just got arrested, even if it is a trap. Glad you're enjoying!
Grace5231973: Yeah, she is. Yes, Phoebus is from the Hunchback. In the original though, he wasn't really a hero and kind of a womanizer, so I took that version and built on it, turning him into this. I wrote a bit more back story on him here too. No, Charming and Fandral really need to not let their guard down. Lol, I love the buffet table scene too. It was a lot of fun. Yep, I love this friendship too and Gideon is shy like his dad. I'm sure Neal is having fun ribbing his little brother. Glad you're enjoying. :)
Jennifer Baratta: Thanks, glad you're enjoying it! Yes, Goldie is just irritating.
Zariah: That's great that you have that kind of passion for it. I understand that a lot of people always like the books better than movies. As someone who writes a lot, I'm able to appreciate both. I've learned to accept things for what they are and avoid being overly critical. Sometimes, as a writer, I realize that a lot of things in books don't always transfer well to the screen and this is why changes are made. Sometimes that's not the reason and bad decisions are made for adaptations. Like I said, I'm mostly able to like things for what they are and I also don't have a ton of time to read the original material, so my opinion is limited in that respect.
Yeah, Mephisto is still out there. I think he's finding more lost souls in the Land Without Magic. He will come into play again eventually though. You're welcome on the explanation of Ingrid's sisters. Yeah, we'll see. It may make it that far and then again, it may not. You can ask. I work in in billing and accounts receivable for a fuel hauling company. I'm in Iowa, so we're in the same time zone. I try to get it done by nine when I go to bed. Some weeks I get done soon, but lately, I've been working right up to the wire.
They do deserve gold medals for all the crap they've dealt with and the fact they don't have crippling anxiety. Yep, it helps they have such a loving family. Yeah, Rourke worked for Clayton, going way back, and probably did even more shady stuff than Xander did back in the day. Yep, there was a bit of a twist with Amora. She'll be more of a problem a little later on. Yeah, General Mendoza working with Rourke can only mean bad things. Yep, Alexandra is a cop now. The Charming kids do have a a great dynamic. Yep, McWolf got cured. We get a little more description on that in this chapter. Bobby is a good friend and yes, unfortunately Kuzco is working for Rourke. Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Like I said, the movies are okay. I saw them and didn't hate them, but that's about as far as my opinion goes as I'm not really in that "fandom" so to speak. I'm just a casual viewer. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the chapter again!
Number Ten: I hope they don't fall for it...but Goldie will go free if they don't go to retrieve her as you'll find out in this chapter. I love that quirk too and the buffet table scene was a lot of fun. Yeah, Eva's the one with all the self control and Summer is an athlete so she probably is very mindful of her eating habits. Yeah, I think Flynn is finally going to see that there is a different way to live. Yeah, Phoebus as an ego the size of Jupiter. We get a little more back story on him in this chapter. Yep, Amora is becoming the new Jekyll. Glad you liked the face claims, especially for Kronk. :)
AnonSnowing: Yep, Phoebus thinks very highly of himself and thinks everyone should know him. But no one really does. We get a bit more back story on him in this chapter. Yes, in may iterations of Zorro, his real name was Don Diego Vega, so I decided to just got with Diego Vega as his name. Zorro is his alias and I think Natalie would be more opt to call him by his real name since they know each other intimately now. Yep, Valkyrie is trying to call, but she can't get through. Yep, Bobby is going to his first dance and the whole family is there to see him off. Yeah, there was three of them so they probably had some sort of gathering. Probably not like Bobby is having, but definitely more than Emma had. Yeah, they're lucky they don't all have crippling anxiety and parts of Summer and Bobby's childhoods was peaceful. Yep, Rourke is definitely the head of the mob here. And working for Clayton means that he's formidable. I know, David is so sweet and Charming as usual. Yep, their love is worth it all. I added a face claim for Chip. Yep, the buffet table scene was fun. Yep, Emma and Leo should be twins, because he and Eva are opposites. They are hilarious and yeah, a tad gross. Yep, Midas' place will be the shady place now. Yes, McWolf is a version or variation of the Three Pigs wolf, but he'll have a bit more of an enriched back story. Yep, Jack is perfect for Ben Dashing. Yes, an amusement park is very exciting! Flynn might be seeing now there is a better way. Yep, that pesky Charming hero complex. Even non-romantically, it can cause issues. Fortunately, it worked here for Bobby. Yep, Goldie and Grimm is a trap. Thanks and you're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
The Grey Jedi 2020: Yep, it's good to see Killian again. I wouldn't say that I hate CS. Before season 5, I was more indifferent to it and that's why I kept it canon. Then season 5 aired and I didn't like it anymore. But it was too late to go back on the promise, so I changed stuff and took out the stuff that made CS toxic. Yep, I think Harbor Master is a good job for him. Yeah, Phoebus is just kind of there. Not many remember him unless you explain who he is. So him thinking that everyone should know him is pompous. Yep, Bianca and Bernard is a rescuers reference. And yes, Diego de la Vega. Yeah, it's adorable that his whole family is there. It's probably his first in the United Realms. I haven't said yet if he went to any when he was a freshman at the High School he went to in Boston yet. But essentially this is a first with his whole family present. Yeah, the Clayton arc in season 3 is still one of my favorites that I've wrote. Glad you like it too. Yep, Rourke worked for Clayton going way back and yes, he had orders to stop Bo if she went to far with David. Yeah, in the original myth I think Midas did end up touching himself. I can't remember exactly, but it would be ironic. Yeah, this Chip doesn't know Belle. Yeah, the buffet table scene was fun with Emma and Leo. Yes, Avery McWolf is an iteration of the Big Bad Wolf. No, I don't think Rose suspects yet. They don't know Amora is free yet. Yes, he means non-United Realmers, but yes, Gideon has magic too. Probably less pronounced than Bobby's. Yep, Phoebus may be going down a dark path, as you'll see in this chapter and I like the Charming Rider friendship too. Yep, Goldie and Grimm's arrest is a trap! Glad you're enjoying it!
Finding You Always
Chapter 240: Witchcraft, Pt 2
"You're sure?" Patricia asked, as she spoke on the phone. She had been on her way to the Grand opening when she got a call from Agent Harding.
"I made the arrest myself. We have them both in custody at FBI headquarters. I can hold them for forty-eight hours, but then I have to cut them loose since I can't charge them for crimes they committed way out of our jurisdiction," Danielle said.
"I understand...I'll tell David tonight and hopefully we can get there tomorrow. Thanks for doing this...I know the bureau still isn't crazy about working with us," she said.
"They're not...and my superiors would just as soon cut her loose, but thankfully, I don't hold a grudge against David for showing us up all the time. He had one of the best solved case records in his two short years here," Agent Harding replied. Patricia smiled.
"You always were a good one...yours is pretty good too. How did you find them though? I was sure General Mendoza was backing and protecting them," Patricia said.
"I thought he was too...but their ratings are crap and we got an anonymous tip," Danielle replied.
"I wish I knew who turned them in...but we got them and that's what is important. David will be only too happy to bring them to justice. I'll be in touch," she said, as she went inside the hotel. She'd enjoy the evening and then mention it to David in passing. They had a couple days to pick them up and she wouldn't feel sorry if Goldie and Grimm rotted in a cell for a day or so.
Phoebus fumed, as he returned to his post in the mall. Another Charming had put him down and this time, it was none other than their youngest brat. He had the audacity to call him down publicly and deny him an arrest that should have been made. Add to that, he made a spectacle while doing it and the audience he had drawn laughed at him.
He knew that he had perhaps embellished his resume a bit when applying for head of the Pleasure Island security team, but he was not inept by any means. He was an accomplished swordsman and at one time, was Captain of the guard for King Stefan. Stefan's reputation was forever tarnished when he attempted to raise the Chernabog by sacrificing then Princess Snow and her unborn first child at Bald Mountain. Phoebus hadn't been present when that all went down and with Stefan's death that day, his Kingdom fell into disarray. Phillip, who was engaged to Stefan's daughter Princess Aurora, kept their Kingdom from being invaded by other forces.
With the curse looming, Phillip had left him in charge of Stefan's remaining military, but he was very miffed when he became a subordinate to the head of Phillip's army.
Phillip left to find Aurora to awaken her from the sleeping curse, obviously inspired by Prince David and Princess Snow's amazing and revered story. It would take twenty-eight years for him to find her and they had all been frozen during the time of the first curse, until the Savior turned twenty-eight. But everything had resumed where it left off at that time and Phoebus' anger at Phillip had not dulled. He was livid that Phillip would put this supposedly prized warrior ahead of him, especially when he discovered this Knight was none other than Mulan, a woman he felt had no business giving him orders. He and a few other dissidents staged a coup against her and lost badly. Phillip, once Mulan and Aurora had figured out how to extract his soul from the wraith and return it to his body, expelled him and the other soldiers from his army. He had been lucky to escape the gallows for what he had done, let alone the dungeon, but since then and up until the time Snow White cast the good curse to unite all the realms, he had wandered to different Kingdoms, taking jobs where he could. Most of the time, he ended up working in tavern's as the needed muscle to break up fights and bounce unruly customers. Or collect unpaid tabs. It was humiliating to say the least and paid next to nothing. He had gotten used to a certain type of life as a Captain of the Guard and a Knight. After he was expelled, he was reduced to living in small, barely livable quarters in whatever establishment he was working in at the time.
When he arrived in the United Realms though, he viewed it as a fresh start and a new beginning. He had immediately applied to be a Knight in one of the various Kingdom and had been certain he would receive such an assignment. But then they told him that he had to attend something called a Police training academy. He took it in stride at first and enrolled. But his first week had been degrading. They refused to recognize his rank and instead, he wore the credentials of a cadet. He had been put on lowly patrol at the school and parking detail in Storybrooke. It had been more humiliation for him and he quit after a week. Then for a while, he found decent work at Iago's bar as a bouncer, which paid slightly better than any of his jobs back in Misthaven. But the living quarters were still paltry. So when it was announced they would be hiring a security team for Pleasure Island, he knew he had to get that lead position. A little embellishment on his resume was a risk he took, because he was convinced once he was hired that Charming would see his value. Unfortunately, the Sheriff Supreme had seen right through the lies on his resume and he had been miffed that he didn't even know who he was.
Now...he was stuck policing the mall, which was worse than the school. These people had little respect for his position and he had yet to make any arrests. He didn't know how he was supposed to prove himself if he couldn't show off his skills.
"Stop! Thief!" one of the store owners called, as he sounded his alarm. Phoebus took off running after the scraggly man and adrenaline pumped through his veins. Perhaps this was it...he could finally show them it was a mistake not to hire him for a top position.
Phoebus tackled the man to the ground and cuffed him. He got him to his feet and searched him, finding a few items he had pocketed.
"You're under arrest…" he said, as he led him out. The proper procedure was to take him to security Headquarters on the Island. From there, he would be logged into the system and then put on a ferry with an Officer for booking at the Storybrooke station. But Phoebus was convinced that this was how he would make Sheriff Charming see his value.
"We're making a quick stop on your way to prison," he said.
Danielle pocketed her phone and went inside the interrogation room with Goldie. She had Elias Grimm in another room and decided to take on the volatile one first.
"I want a lawyer," Goldie hissed.
"And normally, you could have one. Under the laws of this land," Danielle said.
"What are you talking about? You can't deny me an attorney!" Goldie replied.
"Normally, you're right...but since you're not a citizen of the United States, technically, your lawyer needs to be from there too. Which can't happen until the extradition process is complete," Danielle said.
"Extradition?" Goldie asked. Danielle nodded.
"I've made contact with Major Donovan. Her rank in the military is in question at this point, but she is still the bureau's liaison between Washington and the United Realms," she said.
"That's crap!" Goldie hissed.
"Be that as it may...your fate is in the hands of your homeland. The Major is probably telling David Nolan about your capture as we speak. He has forty-eight hours to respond and initiate your extradition now. Until then, you'll remain in FBI custody," she said, as she stood up.
"In two days, if he doesn't come to collect you, then you'll be free to go," she said, before smirking on her way out.
"But I worked with him for two years. Your ass is going to a United Realms prison for life," she said, as she walked out. Goldie screamed in rage, as she did.
Rose and Fandral mingled with their friends and family. Summer and Carina were catching up and their oldest twins were with her. They had said it was okay for the three of them to go to the amusement park later with Summer and JJ. For now, they were eating and talking with the Charming kids.
"Mmm…I do believe this is our first night out together since the twins were born," Rose mentioned. He smiled.
"It is and right now, I am going to dance with my beautiful wife," Fandral said, as he led her to the dance floor.
"Penny for your thoughts, my love?" she asked.
"Hmm?" he asked, snapping him out of his daze.
"You were a million miles away," she said fondly. He smiled at her.
"I was just wondering...how I lived so many years...centuries even without you in my life," he confessed, making her smile shyly.
"More than fifteen hundred years under my belt, yet I feel like my life started the day I looked up and saw you above me," he said.
"Oh Fandral...you must know that it is the same for me, my love. Until you came along, I was practically enslaved in my own home. You rescued me from the horrid abuse at my Uncle's hand and from a nightmarish arranged marriage to the highest bidder," she said, recalling her bleak life before he dropped into it...literally. He leaned in and kissed her passionately.
"And you will never have to suffer like that again...not as long as there is breath in my body, my angel," he promised, as he pressed his forehead against hers.
"I know...I know you'll be holding me in your arms for eternity. I've never felt safer," she said, as their lips met again and they slowly swayed to the music.
Both were unaware of Bianca's eyes following them. She burned with envy and rage, as she was forced to watch him kiss his precious, perfect Rose Red. So far, she had managed to keep up this façade, but it was increasingly difficult and this was only her first night in this new form. It was so hard being this close to him and not using her magic to get what she wanted.
She was a little frustrated with herself, as per usual, when she was around Fandral. She was even older than him and had been around a very long time. Seducing men for whatever purpose she wanted, whether it be for power or personal pleasure is something she had done for centuries. And each time, she tossed them away without batting an eye. Until Fandral the Dashing. It had started with seducing him to get into Thor's inner circle, which worked. Then she had decided to teach him a lesson by breaking his heart and showing him what his womanizing ways hurt the women he had sought for a night of passion, only to leave them without a word or thought the next morning.
It worked. Fandral had not only realized how much pain he had caused some of the women he had been with, he experienced it himself after Amora had done the same to him. She seduced him, spent several months with him, and got him to fall for her. Then she shattered his heart into a million pieces. It had been glorious in the moment, but once she had tossed him away, she realized she was not the only one that had fallen.
She had long thought she was not capable of love and she still wasn't sure she was. But being with him had created a need and desire for a permanent companion in her that she didn't know that she had. And he was perfect. His Asgardian strength and prowess as a warrior was very appealing. He was also incredibly handsome and had been an amazing lover...the best she ever had, in fact, which was saying something, considering how many people she had been with.
When she realized she wanted him back, she returned. It was just a few months after she had revealed her true identity to him and broke his heart. She told him that she had fallen for him too and how great of a team they had made when fighting and questing together in the name of the Asgard crown. But she was thoroughly and vehemently rebuked by him. He actually thanked her for making him realize how terrible he had been in regards to his love life and he had vowed to be a better man in that respect. He also told her he could never feel anything more than disgust for her after her subsequent deception, even if it had been the reason for him turning his life around. She pleaded with him, something she had never done, but he rejected her again and again. Finally, she tried to take him by force, but Thor, Sif, and the other members of the Warriors Three had assisted him in banishing her for good. That was how she ended up in Nephilim, the fallen realm, where she remained until the Evil Queen was banished there as well and was able to curse them all, including Seth, to the United Realms.
They had succeeded in banishing her once more, shortly after that, with the help of a magical urn. But this time, she was determined that they would not succeed in casting her away. Fandral would be hers and she would put Rose Red in a glass coffin. But as much as she wanted to initiate her plan now, she would bide her time and strike at the most opportune moment. She smirked and sipped at her drink.
"Enjoy him while you can, Rose Red...he will be mine again soon," she promised.
"Mmm...you're right, that is good," David said, as they shared a fairly large slice of cheesecake at their table. He fed her another bite and the waiter kindly refilled their wine glasses.
"I think this place could become a favorite date night spot," she said. He smirked.
"I agree...and I know you will when you see our room," he replied. She looked at him slyly.
"What did you do?" she asked.
"Let's just say...I might have asked for the honeymoon treatment for the room," he replied.
"Oooh...I like the idea of us on a second honeymoon," she said dreamily.
"Although, I think you and I will always be on an eternal honeymoon," she added. He smirked and kissed her again.
"We are…" he agreed, as he cupped her cheek in his hand and then leaned in to kiss her. Snow's half heart fluttered and she marveled at how he could still give her butterflies in her stomach and make her knees weak with a simple touch or kiss. As their lips parted, she pressed her forehead against his and met his crystal blue gaze with her own.
"Mmm...we can't leave yet, can we?" she asked coyly. He chuckled.
"We promised Eva we'd say hi on camera and it's a little early. If not for the kids though, I'd be carrying you up to our room right now," he replied.
"Then dance with me, my love?" she asked. He smiled and stood up, before taking her hand and pulling her into his arms.
"Let's, my darling," he replied, as he led her onto the dance floor.
"And in a rare occurrence, here we have my twin on camera, not stuffing his face and not being anti-social," Eva said, as she conducted her live podcast, giving her viewers a few glimpses of the new resort.
"Hey...when have I ever been anti-social?" Leo asked, as he picked up another chicken wing. Everyone around him gave him a look and he rolled his eyes.
"Fine," he relented.
"Leo...I asked you not to eat on camera," she chided.
"I'm not eating...I'm holding food. You said nothing about holding food," he argued. Paul smirked from behind the camera, as he filmed them. Eva smiled at the camera.
"And all of you wonder why people say we're nothing alike and he's a male version of my older sister," she said. Leo opened his mouth to respond, but Elsa intervened.
"No...she's right," the blonde said. He shrugged and ate the chicken wing in his hand.
"Wanna dance?" he asked.
"Sure...but not before you wipe your hands. You're not getting grease all over my dress," she replied. He finished eating and wiped his hands off, before leading her to the dance floor.
"And as promised, my parents agreed to a rare appearance. If you have never seen ballroom dancing before other than on television, that doesn't do the real thing justice," Eva said, as the camera panned to the dance floor and captured them in the middle of a dance.
"Believe me, I cannot tell you how good it is to see my parents get to relax a bit. I mean, they always manage to find good moments in everything, but this last peaceful year has done wonders for us all," she said.
"Uh oh...you had to jinx it," Summer said, as Paul panned the camera to the commotion.
"Who is that?" Eva asked.
"Bloody hell...not this wanker again," Killian said, as the camera turned to him.
"You know this guy?" she asked.
"I ran into him earlier at the Harbor. He was spouting off about how your father hired him to be a mall cop. Apparently, he believes that post is beneath his talent. He thinks very highly of himself and is a bit offended if you don't know who he is," Killian explained.
"Oh yes...this will be good. He put on quite a show yesterday for us, but looks like that was just previews," Regina said, as she sipped at her appletini.
"Interrupting David while he's dancing with Snow...he has guts, you must give him that," Robin chimed in.
"Who is this guy? Am I supposed to know him?" JJ asked. Summer smiled.
"Mom said his name is Captain Phoebus...and no, none of us really know him. But for reference for the audience, he is from the story Hunchback of Notre Dame," Eva narrated for her audience.
"This is gonna be good," Leo said, as he and Emma conjured some popcorn, as they watched from the sidelines.
"Whoa...did he just touch Mom and gently push her aside?" Emma asked.
"Yep...he's dead," Leo replied.
"Hope you're getting all this," JJ said.
"Oh I am and the chat is one fire," Paul said.
"I guess you guys are getting even more of a show than you thought you would tonight," Eva said into the camera for her viewers.
"I'm sure most of you are familiar with how protective my father is...and if this guy somehow gets out of here walking upright, it will be a miracle," she added. Leo laughed, as they watched the spectacle.
Snow gazed up at him, as they swayed slowly once the music changed from fast paced to a slower tune.
"I'd say that the Grand Opening is a major success," he said. She smiled.
"It is...I'm so glad we have something like this now. I loved the days when it was just Storybrooke, but I know there wasn't always much to do," she said.
"Yeah...we always managed to keep busy, but an entertainment district was much needed and this fits that perfectly," he replied.
"I know...I think I'm really excited for the Theater opening next week. It may not be Broadway...but I'm really looking forward to going to an actual play," she said. He smiled.
"Me too...and I really think we should think about doing the cruise soon. It would be a great family vacation without the risks of leaving the United Realms," he said.
"I love that idea," she agreed.
"And I think the best part of tonight is...no interruptions. I love that you're so good at your job, but I'm also glad you hired a very capable security force for this place," she added. He smiled and kissed her tenderly.
"No one is pulling me away from you tonight, my love," he promised. As he leaned in to kiss her again though, they missed Phoebus approaching them with some miscreant he had arrested, with his chest puffed with pride.
"Sheriff!" he called, stopping them in mid kiss and he looked incredulously at the former Captain.
"What are you doing?" David asked, in a measured tone, which was far more dangerous than if he had yelled at the other man. But Phoebus was too deluded in his own world to realize that.
"I came here to present my case once again. You have made a serious error and my skills are underutilized. I have arrested this thief and it's proof that I should be in charge of the guard," Phoebus said.
"You've got to be kidding me right now," David muttered, as he held Snow close.
"I had to jinx us," Snow said, with a sigh.
"No…I'm going to handle this and then you and I are going to go back to our evening," he promised.
"Phoebus...I'm glad you made an arrest, but bringing the arrest to me is not proper procedure. Believe it or not, I don't handle every arrest made," David said.
"I know that...I just needed to show you that I am overqualified for a mall flunky! I should be running this entire operation!" he insisted angrily.
"If you really wanted to show me you could do the job, you would have made the arrest, taken him to the precinct here on Pleasure Island, logged him into the system, and put him on a ferry with one of the Knights assigned to transport duty. From there, they would have taken him to Storybrooke for booking. That's the procedure, but you can't follow it so I'm not sure why you think you deserve a higher position," David said, as he turned back to Snow to continue their evening. But in his extreme hubris and cloud of self importance, Phoebus gently pushed her aside.
"No...you're going to listen to me and hear me out! You're going to give me the chance I deserve!" Phoebus demanded, just as Alexandra arrived.
"I'm so sorry...I just heard about the commotion. Phoebus...let's go. We'll book your arrest and then you and I will have a very long talk in my office about your misconduct," Alexandra said.
"I will be no subordinate to a brat half my age!" he ranted.
"Okay…executive decision time. Alexandra, go ahead and book this thief, because you're fired, Phoebus," David said.
"Fine…I don't want this degrading job anyway! You'll regret this though...mark my words, Sheriff Charming!" he ranted, as he turned away.
"Oh and Phoebus?" David said, calling him back, only to receive a punch in the eye that sent him falling on his ass, further humiliating him.
"That's for pushing my wife aside and disrespecting her," David growled, as the man scurried away in embarrassment.
"Wow…" Snow said, as he put his arm around her.
"Sorry...hiring him even as a mall cop was a mistake," he replied.
"It's not your fault. Obviously, he's capable and has some level of skill. His ego is just so huge that he can't get over himself," Snow said. He scoffed.
"Yeah…I'm surprised his head can fit through the door," he agreed.
"See...even the United Realms has normal problems, like bad employees," Eva said, as she prepared to end her podcast, just as her parents approached.
"I know you guys don't like the camera, but the viewers love you," Eva said, as they waved for her.
"For you...we'll make an exception, angel," David said.
"Of course...and at least we know there is more love out there than hate," Snow said. He smiled at her.
"Good always wins...we're living proof of that," he said, as he pecked her on the lips.
"And I think that does it for this episode of the Truest podcast. See you next week," Eva said, as Paul turned the camera off and kissed her cheek.
"The chat is blowing up and your views are in the millions," he said.
"I was never interested in fame. I just want the truth about us out there. That we are real people and no one needs to fear us," Eva replied.
"And I believe they do...especially since your competition just got shut off," Patricia said, as she approached.
"What do you mean?" Snow asked.
"Agent Harding got an anonymous tip earlier and she arrested Goldie and Grimm," Patricia replied.
"Seriously?" David asked. She nodded.
"I thought that General was backing her," Emma said.
"He is or was...I'm not sure where that stands now. But it's possible someone recognized her, perhaps a fan of Eva's podcast, and turned her into the FBI tip line. We won't really know, but we have forty-eight hours to pick them up," she explained.
"Why only two days?" Leo asked.
"Because since they committed their crimes here, the bureau really has no reason to hold them. Danielle's superiors and the top brass don't even like getting involved with them, but she believes in real justice so she did it anyway," Patricia replied.
"She was the only one besides you I ever liked working with," David recalled. She nodded.
"But if we don't pick them up within that time window, she'll have no choice but to cut them loose," Patricia said.
"Well...there's no reason we can't go tomorrow," Snow replied. He nodded.
"She's right...we'll go tomorrow. We can take the Jolly Roger instead of portalling," David said.
"Aye mate...Emma and I'll accompany you," Killian agreed.
"Excellent," Patricia said.
"Then Goldie will finally pay for killing my cousin?" JJ asked. Summer smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Absolutely. She'll be charged with Nora's murder and Mr. Boots' as well. If she pleads not guilty, she'll go to trial and we have more than enough evidence for a conviction. Then she'll go to prison, probably for life," he said. He nodded.
"Thank you," he said.
"I promised we would get her...and we will," he said, patting his shoulder.
"Yes...and since it's getting late, I think we'll retire to our room now," Snow said, as she put her arms around him. He smiled at her.
"It's not that late," Regina commented.
"Late enough," Snow retorted, as they bid goodnight to their kids and the rest of their family, before making their way to the elevator.
"Like I said earlier...the eternal honeymoon continues," Xander commented.
Phoebus stormed up to the bar and sat down.
"Your strongest ale...and some ice," he hissed. The bartender smirked and delivered the drink with some ice cubes. Phoebus wrapped one cube in a napkin and pressed it against his blackening eye.
"Put his ale on my tab and give me a scotch neat," a voice said. Phoebus looked up to see a man sitting down next to him.
"Who the hell are you?" he asked.
"Come now, is that any way to talk to someone picking up your tab?" the man asked, as his drink was delivered.
"Who are you?" Phoebus asked.
"Your next employer...if you're interested," Rourke replied.
"And why would I want to work for you?" Phoebus asked.
"Because I need good soldiers. I need muscle to help me run my operation," Rourke answered.
"And what operation is that?" Phoebus asked curiously.
"Only the most extensive criminal enterprise ever known...at least in these parts and if things go right, a front row seat for you to see Charming and his pretty little wife pay," Rourke replied. Phoebus scoffed.
"No one makes the Charmings pay. Many have tried and caused them suffering, but they always lose in the end," he said.
"Very true...but they don't even know I exist so they'll never see me coming," Rourke said, as he finished the drink.
"Think about it...you can find me at Midas' if you're interested in the position and making three times what they were paying you as a mall cop," he said, as he put down some money and a tip. Phoebus caught sight of the wad of cash in the man's inside jacket pocket and he started to walk away.
"This is a top position?" Phoebus asked. Rourke smirked smugly, before turning back.
"Chief of security for any operation that I need you for. You'll have leeway to throw your weight around as you see fit. In fact, the rougher you are with certain clientele, the better," he replied.
"And you're going to make Charming pay?" he asked. Rourke smirked.
"In due time...he's never seen my face, but he'll soon know me," he said. Phoebus thought for a moment.
"I'll take the job," he agreed.
"Good...let's go. This place is a bit ritzy for my taste. Midas' has more of my kind of ilk," he said, as Phoebus followed him.
James and Aphrodite approached Midas' Casino arm in arm. He was dressed in a smart tux and she wore a glittering pink evening gown.
"Are you sure you want to check this place out?" he asked. She smirked.
"Aren't you curious? Unless it brings back bad memories," she replied, as they stopped at the top of the stairs.
"A little...I mean I found myself in a lot of seedy places, way seedier than this, and at many gambling tables after George ripped us apart, not that I could remember," he said.
"But I felt it somewhere inside me. I didn't know why...but I was always trying to drown my pain in alcohol, gambling, and...other stuff," he said vaguely.
"James...anything you did after he erased our memories is not completely your fault," she admonished.
"I know...I hate it though. I would have never…" he said, trailing off.
"I know," she assured him.
"I may not have known it, but my heart did. It missed you and it was in pain," he said. She smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Mine too," she said.
"But to answer your question, it's fine. I mean, you and I ended up at a few places worse than this when we were together," he replied. She smiled at the memories.
"Do you remember that awful tavern we almost stayed in just outside Prydain?" she giggled.
"That place was disgusting. There was no way I was letting us stay in that rat hole," he said.
"Mmm...and so you went to the tables, won a huge jackpot, almost got us into an all out brawl, because they were so angry, and then you took me to Prydain's finest Inn," she recalled. He smiled.
"They were just pissed, because I was way younger than them and my poker face is pretty good," he said, as he looked over at her.
"Want to hit the tables for old times sake?" he asked. She smirked.
"And watch you win? Of course...and Midas will hate it," she replied.
"There is always that and walking up to the tables with you on my arm just makes them bleed envy," he said.
"I don't know about that," she replied.
"I do...you're incredibly beautiful and I have no qualms in bragging about you," he said. They walked in and already, attention was on them. Everyone expected them to attend the opening at the Galaxy Rose with the rest of their family and they would make their way over there. But he knew better than any that they would need to keep an eye on this place and no one knew what to look for in places like this better than James.
They made their way to a table and took a seat, receiving glares from the others present.
"Deal us in," James said. The dealer obliged and included them in the hand. Avery McWolf had to nearly root himself into his seat so as not to launch himself across the table at them, for two reasons. One, he hated law enforcement and everyone with the last name Charming. And two...the smell of Goddess blood was enough to make his blood boil with both rage and lust. Zeus was the reason he could no longer phase. Dr. Frankenstein himself had given him a cure for his condition and it worked. He had done it to be with the woman he loved, but when he lost her in a violent way and became unable to save her, he pleaded with the doctor for a reversal. But there was no way to do so through science. He had then pleaded to Zeus, whom he had done favors for in his monster form, but the supreme God had refused to give him his power to phase back. By then, many werewolves had popped up and terrorized too many villages. He pleaded that he had complete control and would not do that. But his pleas fell on deaf ears and he was left with nothing. He grew angry and started drinking. Then Rourke, who worked for Clayton at the time, recruited him to work for him as a mercenary, finding his enhanced strength of much use. He had enjoyed good pay and just about anything he wanted since then. When Clayton died though, Rourke's operation went underground and some of that good life dried up. And then even more so after Charming's raid on the island, which James and his pretty Goddess wife were very much a part of. They had a dozen other places to go that night, but they had to come here. It made him want to rip them apart and it angered him even more that he couldn't do so. The dealer called and Avery was confident in his hand as usual, as he showed his cards, after upping the ante. He prepared to scoop up his winnings when the Prince revealed his hand. Also a full house...in a higher suit.
"And the winnings go to Prince James," the dealer said, as he scooped them in. Aphrodite smiled.
"You haven't lost your touch," she said. He smiled.
"Guess not," he replied.
"Like you need the money," Avery scoffed.
"You're right...we don't. It will go to charity," he replied, which made Avery more disgusted. These heroes made him sick and he knew Rourke would not be happy. His job was to win as many hands as possible and he tossed a pointed look at the dealer, who gulped. They had hired several to work their scheme, but this one had gotten nervous at the presence of Charming's twin. Avery clenched his teeth, showing his still significant fangs to the man, promising him a very bleak future if he didn't shape up. The next four hands went Avery's way and he quickly cashed out, just in case James got suspicious. If he even got an inkling something was going on here, Rourke would be livid.
"Guess I wasn't on my game, after all," James said, as they prepared to leave.
"You did fine, as usual. That other man seemed to take it very seriously and since we don't, maybe it's best he won," Aphrodite replied. Something odd was tugging at him in the back of his mind about the last few hands.
"Something's bothering you," she said.
"Yeah...just not sure what it is yet," he replied.
"Well for now, Mr. Detective, let's go next door. Snow told me all about the desserts earlier that they have and I want some," she said. He chuckled and kissed her cheek.
"Then let's get you some, my love," he said, as they headed for the Galaxy Rose.
Avery stormed into the money room and added his winnings to that night's collection.
"You know, it's a lot easier to do this without Charmings sniffing around our operation. You said that they wouldn't come here," Avery said.
"And they won't. Prince James' former bad side was just curious to taste his former life. They left quickly enough," Rourke replied, as he puffed on his cigar.
"The dealer already got nervous enough that he let James win a hand. They get too nervous, they could blow it all," Avery said.
"Then handle it...make sure that dealer doesn't make that mistake again," Rourke replied.
"Fine…" Avery said in irritation, as he stormed out.
"About done for the night?" Ella asked her husband, as he put the finishing touches on the written story pages from that night. Henry smiled.
"Yeah, I'm about done for the night and we do have a busy day tomorrow, since we promised Lucy we'd take her to the amusement park," he said.
"There was more to write about than you thought," she mentioned. He smiled.
"There usually is with my grandparents. Even on peaceful nights, trouble finds them. At least this time, it was just a pompous jerk," Henry replied, as he led her upstairs to their room for the night.
"Then tomorrow...I guess I'll get to cover Goldie and Grimm's extradition to prison back here," he said.
"Let's just hope it goes more smoothly than most trips to the Land Without Magic," she said, as they found their room for the evening.
Snow was in pure heaven, as he kissed her deeply and then his lips moved to her neck, as he nuzzled the mark he had already given her earlier.
"Mmm…Charming…" she mewled, as he made post sex just as amazing as their earlier lovemaking. She ran her fingers through his hair, as he kissed her again and then finally pulled himself from her depths. She almost whimpered at the loss, but he settled on his back and spooned her against his chest. She rested her head on his shoulder and gently caressed his handsome face, pushing some of his hair away from his forehead.
"I love you so much…" she gushed. He pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"And I love you, my beautiful Snow…" he whispered, before kissing her lips again. They settled down together and she sighed.
"So...another trip to Boston tomorrow," she said. He nodded and kissed her hair.
"Hopefully one of the last, my darling," he promised.
"Mmm...me too, but Goldie should pay for her crimes and Grimm for his as an accomplice," she said. He nodded.
"Grimm will likely serve less time. He helped her, but didn't kill anyone and he helped Jekyll in that whole scheme with obtaining our blood and using it for ink," he replied. She nodded.
"We'll bring them to justice, my love and General Mendoza as well, when the time is right," he said, as they fell asleep, not knowing that the General would be ready for them when they came.
"Is everything ready?" Mendoza asked, as he stared at the Boston cityscape.
"Yes...we used Dr. Jekyll's island prototype and with the technology that I still possess from Clayton, we've created a new island to our very intricate specifications," Rourke replied.
"Good...this whole plan is a long shot though. Are you sure the magic of the Chalice will be nullified?" Mendoza asked.
"Yes...this is a very specific technology, not of this land or any lands in this sector. They'll have their weapons, but none of the magic of the chalice behind them," Rourke replied.
"Charming and his precious Snow White are no strangers to having to survive in adverse conditions though," Mendoza said.
"That's correct and why I suggested that we place several innocent people in the situation with them. Putting them responsible for helping a group of inept, unprepared Land Without Magic people will complicate the situation and also cause them grief if someone in their care is killed," Rourke reasoned.
"You've been observing them for a long time," Mendoza commented.
"Clayton studied them and knew everything about them. He still lost to them...twice. But I won't, because I have no desire for them to live like he did. Clayton was obsessed with them and their power. Same with Jekyll. He wanted Snow alive. I just want them both dead," Rourke said.
"Many others have as well and still failed," Mendoza countered.
"And you'll certainly fail in killing them without me. You've set them up to come to Boston and that will spring our trap," he said.
"It had better...or neither of us gets what they want," Mendoza replied.
"I'll be in touch," Rourke said, as he smirked and enjoyed the rest of his cigar...
