Prompt: I'm having the worst day and you've just handed me an envelop with… (O 63)

This drabble takes place after the war when Ginny is playing for the Harpies and has a horrible Quidditch practice. This chapter is rated M.

Note: this prompt is not on my bingo card.

To say Ginny Potter was having a bad day was an understatement. It seemed that nothing was going her way today. First she woke up late after having somehow turned her alarm off in her sleep and had to run around the house like a madwoman to try and get ready for practice. She had been mad at Harry for not waking her up only to find out her husband had been stuck on a fire call with his boss for the last hour and a half on what was supposed to be his day off. He tried to make her a breakfast sandwich to help her out, but the smell of the egg he'd cooked for her sandwich turned her stomach. She promptly lost the contents of her stomach when she apparated away and arrived at the Harpies' training facility.

She still felt nauseous most of the morning, having to stop a couple times during the team's morning strength training session to throw up again. Luckily Gwen hadn't seen her leave the first time to get sick, but she noticed Ginny leaving the second time to head to the toilets. Gwen got on her case after that, yelling at Ginny when after throwing up she felt so weak that she was unable to finish the rest of her lift circuit.

Practice on the pitch that afternoon did not get any better. Ginny had felt slightly better after the team had a light post-workout lunch in the facility's cafeteria, but she still felt weak and fatigued from the morning. It resulted in some of the worst flying she had done since she was eighteen and had come down with a bad bout of the flu. She almost flew into one of the beaters when her stomach suddenly flipped midair. All but one of her shots taken on goal were blocked by their keeper, and she had dropped the Quaffle more times than she cared to remember. Gwen was on her arse all practice, yelling at Ginny about her subpar Chaser skills.

The final straw had been when Gwen forced the team to land an hour before practice was to end and then proceeded to berate Ginny in front of the entire team about how she was not performing to the insanely high standards of the Harpies and that she was bringing the team down. Gwen then told Ginny she was being benched for their upcoming game that Saturday and that she should use that time to "maybe think about how your actions have consequences". Ginny wanted to badly punch Gwen in the face she was seething with so much anger. Gwen had no right to talk to her like that! After all, who scored the winning goal last weekend that saved the Harpies from a humiliating defeat to Pudlemere when their Seeker caught the Snitch? Oh, right, that was her.

But instead, hot angry tears formed in her eyes and she stormed off the field, feeling rather emotional all of a sudden. If she was to be benched, fine, then she wasn't going to remain here just to be further humiliated. One of the team's healers was waiting for her in locker room when she arrived, telling Ginny she'd been randomly selected for a urine analysis to test for any performance enhancing potions and to test for pregnancy. Being the only all-female team, Gwen had taken to adding a pregnancy test whenever a girl was selected for a urine analysis, claiming that "it'll give me a little time to find your replacement". Already being in a bad mood, being selected for an analysis brought Ginny's mood further, seeing that now she had to stay until she provided a sample.

Forty-five minutes later, Ginny was finally able to leave the training facility after giving a urine sample and showering. While her nausea had diminished from what it had been when she had arrived to practice, her stomach was still a bit upset. Deciding to just head home so she could try and have a nap before dinner, Ginny exited the locker room, only to be ambushed by reporters who were there covering the team's practice before their upcoming game that was only two days away. They harassed her with questions as to why she was out of the team's practice early and snapped pictures of her, the flashes from the cameras blinding her as she shoved her way through them.

By the time Ginny had gotten away from the media and apparated back home, Ginny felt nauseous again along with feeling tired and frustrated at how horrible today had been. She stormed into the house, slamming the front door behind her harder than she needed to. The force of door slamming rocked the small table beside the door, sending the small crystal dish they kept their keys in crashing to the floor. Great, yet another thing to add to the list of shit that happened to her today.

The sound of crystal breaking must have caught Harry's attention from the kitchen where she could smell chicken and fresh bread baking in the oven. He appeared in the doorway a second later, wiping flour off of his hands using his jeans.

"Ginny, you're home early. Did practice go okay?" Harry asked, clearly surprised she was home early. That question, that one fucking question asking about how practice was when she clearly wasn't okay was what finally caused Ginny to snap.

"You're really asking me that?" Ginny angrily snapped at Harry. He looked utterly confused at her attitude towards him.

"Yes, I heard something breaking and I saw you were home early. I just want to know how you are?"

"Oh, I'm just fucking great, today's been such an amazing fucking day." Ginny said sarcastically, pushing past Harry towards the stairs.

"Ginny, are you okay?" Harry asked, reaching out to touch her arm as she past him.

She yanked her arm away. "Don't touch me!"

Harry raised his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, I was just concerned about you, Gin."

"Yeah, whatever, I'm going to lay down before dinner." She heard a soft, defeated sounding "okay" before storming up the stairs to their bedroom, slamming the door behind her.

She took off her trainers and changed into sweats before throwing herself down onto the bed. As soon as she did, the guilt and shame of having snapped at Harry the way she did flooded over her. He didn't deserve to be yelled at like that, he had only been genuinely concerned about her and why she was home early. He had even taken the time to cook them a nice dinner for when she got home. And what did she do? Snap at him and treat him like shit simply because he asked if practice was okay. It wasn't his fault, he didn't know anything about how bad today had been because she snapped at him instead of telling him what happened.

Tears escaped from her eyes as her feelings overtook her. She frustratedly swiped them away. Dammit, why was she so emotional all of a sudden? The last few days had been like this, where she found herself tearing up or crying more than she normally did. She was going to have to apologize Harry for her horrible attitude towards him and that she took her day out on him instead of explaining things like a fucking grown-up.

She must have fallen asleep for a small amount of time for she found herself stirring at the feeling of something being placed over her. She turned to the side to see Harry standing over her, covering her with the throw blanket from the end of the bed.

"Harry." Ginny mumbled, the guilt from her earlier actions towards him coming back to her at seeing him.

"Go back to sleep, Gin, I didn't mean to wake you up." He smoothed a crease in the blanket down before dropping a kiss to the top of her head. "I put a warming charm on dinner so it's there when you're ready to eat."

Harry moved to the door to head back down stairs. Halfway to the door, he turned back around, walking back towards the bed.

"Oh, I forgot, an owl from the Harpies came about fifteen minutes ago. I'll just leave it here for you." He took an envelop out of his shirt pocket and left it leaning against the lamp on her night stand. He left after that, shutting the door behind him. She was all alone again.

Not really tired anymore after her nap, Ginny reached for the envelop, knowing that the results of her urine analysis must be inside. Ripping open the envelop and removing the letter, Ginny started to read.

Ginny felt her mouth drop open at the results of her urine analysis. Pregnant. She was pregnant. She was pregnant! It explained her heightened emotions and all the nausea. She was pregnant!

It had been something she and Harry had talked about last year when she had originally waned to try for a baby, but after the other two Chasers and the Seeker became pregnant during training camp, Gwen had threatened that any other player who became pregnant before or during the season would be let go from the team and not welcomed back after the baby was born like they normally would be. She then made the remaining girls take a contraception potion for the rest of the pre-season and regular season, effectively ending Ginny's idea of trying that year.

She was pregnant.

Gwen was already pissed off at Ginny for her performance at practice today, she knew her captain was going to be apoplectic once she got the report that she was pregnant. And while up to two seasons ago, Ginny would have been worried about what Gwen would have to say to her, her captain's actions over the last two years had honestly left a sour taste in her mouth.

Ginny knew Gwen planned on retiring in another season or two and was pushing the team to their limits to be the best and win the championships before she hung her broom up for good. She pushed the entire team to practice more, lift weights more, run more, and micromanaged their diets so their percentage of body fat was as low as it could be. And Ginny was getting extremely tired of it all. Harry had even been concerned at the amount of weight Gwen's stringent program had caused her to loose when she complained to him about her breasts shrinking down two full cup sizes. She looked painfully thin, and her mother always made sure to tell her daughter that whenever they'd go over to the Burrow for dinner.

She had thought about retiring or at least leaving the Harpies at the end of the last season, but she wanted to try and play one more season before making her mind up. But now that Ginny knew that she was pregnant, Ginny was feeling okay with her time with the Harpies coming to an end. In fact, it almost felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

But right now, she owned her wonderful husband an apology and an explanation for her behavior.

She found Harry sitting in the living room reading, a pensive look about him. He looked up as she approached, setting his book down on their coffee table.

"Ginny, I thought you were still sleeping?" Harry asked.

She took a seat in his lap, the letter clasped tightly in her hand.

"I wasn't tired anymore." She leaned her head against his broad shoulder, placing a kiss on his neck. "I'm sorry that I was so horrible to you when I got home. It wasn't your fault and I took it out on you when I shouldn't have."

Harry wrapped his arms around her waist. "What happened today, Gin?" he asked gently.

Ginny took a deep breath before recounting to Harry all the events that transpired up until she got home.

"I'm sorry you had such a horrible day." Harry said sincerely, kissing her softly.

"It's okay, but I shouldn't have treated you like that. I am really sorry about that." She unfolded the letter she still had in her hand. "I did get my urine analysis results though, that was the envelop that came."

"Everything okay?"

"Why don't you see for yourself?" She presented the letter to him. He took it from her hand, reading it over.

She could tell when he reached the part about her positive pregnancy test for his eyes widened in surprise before rereading the same part over again.

He lowered the letter, shock and amazement written all over his face. "Gin, are you, are you really pregnant?"

"I'll have to get a second test done to officially confirm it with the team healers, but yes, I'm pregnant."

He hugged her tightly to him before kissing her soundly. They broke apart a few minutes later.

"I take it you're happy with the news."

"Extremely. Gin, I can't believe it, we're having a baby!"

He kissed her again and they lost themselves in the other for a time.

"Harry?" Ginny asked after a while.

"Yeah?"

"I'm not going to return to the Harpies once the baby's born."

He gently cupped her cheek with his hand, their eyes meeting one another's.

"Are you sure that's what you want, Gin?"

"I had been thinking about either retiring or leaving the Harpies after the end of the last season, but I wanted to try and play one more season with them. I guess this is a clear cut sign from the universe that I should be done with the Harpies. I know Gwen will berate and scream at me tomorrow when I have to go in to confirm my pregnancy, but I really don't care what she has to say. I've wanted to start our family for over a year now and now we finally get to.

"I know I'll have time to decide what my next step will be. I know my agent was telling me earlier the Arrows were interested in having me come in for a practice, but I'm not sure if that offer will still be there next year."

"They'd be idiots not to have you come play for them."

"Thanks for your confidence in my skills. But I'm not sure if I'll want to be on the road so much with having a baby. You know there's been times I've been gone for three weeks in a row when we have had multiple road games back-to-back-to-back. I don't want to be away from our baby that long, and I know teammates don't appreciate a baby being lugged along for games. But Ernest Ramsey, he's the lead sports writer for The Prophet, had been dropping hints to me for a while now that he would like for me to come on as a Quidditch correspondent. It would allow me to be with you and the baby more, and I would still get to be involved with Quidditch."

She hopped off his lap, grasping his hand tightly to pull him up out of the chair and over towards the stairs.

"But like I said, I don't have to make my mind up right now. Right now though? I think those pregnancy cravings are starting to kick in."

"Anything I can get you?" Harry asked, his green eyes darkening with desire as they made their way up the stairs and into their bedroom.

Ginny smiled predatorily at him, pushing him onto the bed. "Yes, you inside me, now."

They finally got around to eating the dinner Harry had made hours later around midnight. What had started out as the worst day in a long time for Ginny, had turned into one of her best ever.
