Stiles groans as he pushes open the door to the basement, as his boots hit the steps of the old house he couldn't help but sigh, he was so regretting his choice now to send Buffy and Scott to school.
What if Jackson went crazy?
He very much doubted that his fragile bones and sarcasm would match up to whatever freaky strength Jackson had now.
As he reaches the bottom step he huffs as he spots a shirtless Jackson immediately sit up from his place chained on the floor turning to face the human with one of the most terrifying glares he had ever seen on a person. Stiles gulps and forces down his own fear before moving to crouch opposite the jock, opening the bag in his hands he begins pulling out the items one by one "Okay, I bought you some food..."
Before he could finish his sentence Jackson leaps at him trying to grab him only for the chains to yank him back towards the wall "Let me out, now!"
Stiles couldn't help but growl in annoyance as he stares at the furious Jackson "Hey!" He yells back "You know, I put those pants on you, all right, buddy? One leg at a time. Being all up-close and personal with your junk wasn't exactly a highlight of my day. So don't think this is fun for me either. You know we're actually doing you a favor?"
At Stiles' words, Jackson couldn't help but stare at him in disbelief, this kid had to be out of his freaking mind! Raising his hands he gestures at the metal cuffs currently holding him against his will "This is doing me a favor?"
"Yes!" Stiles sighs "You're killing people. To death. Yeah. And until we can figure out how to stop you, you're gonna stay down here. I'm sorry." He says with a shrug, to be honest, he wasn't the least bit sorry, Jackson was, no pun intended, a complete Jackass and the fact Buffy and Scott hadn't just killed him was a real gift. Because if he was going to have to spend long periods of time alone with Jackson, Stiles himself probably wouldn't be so generous.
As Jackson merely continues to glare at him Stiles rolls his eyes before holding out two sandwiches he had made in the kitchen "Now, do you want the ham and cheese or the turkey club?"
Jackson shakes his head in annoyance before glaring back at the skinny nerd "You actually think my parents won't be looking for me?"
Stiles shrugs before tossing over the ham sandwich to Jackson so that he could reach into his pocket where he currently had Jackson's phone "Well, not if they don't think anything's wrong." Stiles explains before showing the text he had sent to Jackson's parents this morning 'Stayed at friends house last night. Everything fine. Love you.'
Stiles smiles brightly before his focus on Jackson was quickly snaked away as his own phone starts ringing, reaching into his other pocket his eyes widen in relief as he spots the familiar name pop up on the screen. Without a word to Jackson Stiles stands and begins heading upstairs.
"Hi, Giles." Stiles breaths as he answers, quickly locking the basement door behind him "What did you find?"
Buffy leans against her locker as she tightens her jacket around herself.
She felt like she was constantly on edge, like whoever these guys Spike was sending after her were just going to jump out at her at any second. Leaning her head against the cold metal she shoves her hands in her dungarees trying to ignore the panicky feeling in her chest, normally she wouldn't be this worried, but this felt different. The look on Derek's face last night after seeing that ring...and then still not knowing exactly what was going on...it had completely wigged her out.
Suddenly her phone rings causing the blonde to jump slightly; sighing she runs a hand through her hair before grabbing her phone her eyes widening with hope as she spots Stiles' name.
"Hey...please tell me Derek was wigged out for nothing."
"Sorry Buff...but from what Giles said...he was not overreacting."
Buffy opens her mouth to start questioning him only to frown as she realizes that he had said Giles instead of her actual Watcher "What didn't you call Deaton?"
"I like Giles...he has a funny accent makes everything he says sound super smart...plus his name sounds like my name."
Buffy rolls her eyes in amusement, of course, that would be the reason that Stiles chose to communicate with Giles instead of Deaton "You're such a dork. So what do we know?"
"Derek was right, the ring is only worn by members of the Order of Taraka." Stiles pauses and Buffy could clearly hear him flipping through pages in a panic before he sighs "Okay so the gest is...deadly assassins going back...way too long. And as you are Miss Scourge of the underworld..."
Buffy sighs as she listens and couldn't help but gulp "I haven't been that scourge-y lately."
"Buffy...Giles said to grab a bag and head to the hills. Hell, head to Canada. These things they have no desires but to collect their bounty...and their bounty is you. They all work alone, some human, some...not so much. We have no idea how to look for them."
Buffy's eyes widen in horror, this was way worse than she had been expecting, was this seriously happening right now? How was she just supposed to run? What was she supposed to do take off and hide in the mountains for the rest of her life?
Opening her mouth the blonde moves to speak only to jump as her locker slams shut as Scott appears next to her "Hey." He smiles before his eyes widen as he spots the terrified expression on her face "This means bad right?" He asks "That's what the face is?"
The blonde merely nods before handing her phone to Scott, Scott frowns in confusion before taking the phone his eyes widening as he listens to the information Stiles replays to him "I won't leave her side." He says simply before hanging up and wrapping a supportive arm over her shoulder pulling her close to his side "We will figure this out." He promises trying to hold in his own freak out, her freak out was way more urgent then his "Just till then I'll stay with you. Come on."
Scott squeezes Buffy's shoulder as he places her in the seat next to him in class before watching her carefully, worry etched all over his face as he watched her tap her fingers against the table fidgeting like crazy, never staying too still for even a second.
While he knew she wouldn't admit it, he knew all of her signs...she was completely wigged out.
Buffy offers Scott a small smile and forces herself to stop tapping her fingers against the table like a crazy person, although she felt like she wasn't that far off at the moment. Running a hand through her hair she glances out the window keeping her eyes wide as she scans for any sign of the next assassin who would be coming for her. Sighing she sinks into her chair and pulls on her jumper pulling the hood up hiding her face a bit more, she just needed to get through the next couple of classes then she could get back to her old house and hide out there for a bit.
"Scott. Buffy." A familiar voice whispers from behind them causing Buffy to frown and glance at Scott who was just as confused, both of them turn in their seats to face Allison who was sitting directly behind Buffy. Buffy couldn't help but gulp at the look on the brunette's face, there was something wrong which just made the blonde groan, she could so not deal with anymore drama today. Wasn't the universe screwing her enough as it was?!
Before Allison could tell them what she was desperate to Buffy jumps as she hears the loud click of heels entering the room, reaching into her near pocket she grasps the stake inside as she turns only for her hold to release as she spots the one and only Victoria Argent entering their classroom.
"I'm afraid your teacher was feeling ill today and had to leave early." Allison's mother explains as she moves over to the head of the classroom and smiles warmly at the class "So unfortunately you're stuck with me as a substitute. Can anyone catch me up to speed on where we are?"
Buffy's eyes widen and she couldn't help but groan and drop her head to her desk, this was so not good for her panic levels right now.
"I have a tail?" Jackson asks completely unamused as he stares at Stiles who was lounging across the old couch in the basement while he remained chained to the floor, being forced to Listen to Stiles' description of the Kanima.
Stiles nods nonchalantly "Yeah, you have a tail."
"Does it do anything?"
Stiles thinks for a moment remembering back to the handful of times he had seen Jackson in his Kanima form, he wasn't actually too sure what the point of the tail was "No, not that I know of."
Jackson remains composed for a moment merely nodding at the information before his jaw tightens and he pulls at the cuffs around his wrists trying to get to Stiles with no luck "Can I use it to strangle you?"
Stiles couldn't help but sigh, talking to Jackson was like talking to a brick wall "God, you still don't believe me. All right..." Sighing Stiles sits up leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees as he faces Jackson "The night of the semi-final game, what did you do right after?"
"I went home."
"Are you sure about that?"
Jackson couldn't help but growl in annoyance, his urge to shove his foot up Stiles' ass growing by the second "Yes, you idiot. What the hell else would I do?"
"You attacked me and Derek at the school and you trapped us in the pool..." Stiles pauses as a small smile covers his face remembering back to Buffy kicking the crap out of him "Till Buffy kicked your little reptile ass. You also killed a mechanic. Right in front of me, by the way. That was lovely. And one of Argent's hunters. Oh and last night, you tried to kill Danny."
As the bell rings Scott nods at Allison silently wishing her luck with her mother before he wraps an arm around Buffy and quickly leads her out of the classroom. As they head into the hall Scott glances at his best friend in worry, she kept glancing around like everyone was out to get her...which right now was pretty much true "How are you doing?"
"I'm not all rainbows and kisses..." Buffy snarks before sighing "But could be worse...I could be Stiles right now."
Scott couldn't help but chuckle at that, she did have a point there, he didn't know what was worse, being hunted by a team of supernatural assassins or being stuck with Jackson.
As Buffy jumps suddenly as a classroom door bangs open Scott's eyes widen in worry as he glances down at his god-sister, it was scary seeing her like this, he had known her pretty much his entire life and he had never seen her look so helpless.
Placing a comforting hand on her shoulder he tries to reassure her "It's okay, just the room down the hall."
"I know." She breaths as she runs her nervous hands through her hair before rubbing the back of her neck while keeping her eyes wide as she watched everyone around her. With every movement, someone made she was ready to jump, from a teacher reaching into his jacket to her classmates pulling books out of their lockers she watched them all with a curious eye.
Waiting to see just who would come at her.
Sensing someone coming up behind her she grabs the guy and moves slamming him up against the wall her hand around his throat "Try it!" She hisses as she stares at the idiot that was Greenberg.
Greenberg turns to Scott who quickly pulls Buffy off him "Buffy it's just Greenberg." He reminds her because to be honest, he was probably the only person here they could be positive wasn't an assassin...he was too much of a moron.
Buffy's eyes widen in horror as she realizes what she had just done, wincing she sighs "I-I'm sorry." She stutters before backing away in a panic and heading towards the exit "I need to get out of here." She stumbles over her words as Scott quickly runs after her.
Scott sighs and quickly moves in front of her, yanking the car keys out of his back pocket he hands the keys to Buffy "Go hide out at the house with Stiles. I'll cover for you. Just don't crash my mom's car."
"I'm seriously wigged, Stiles." Buffy huffs as she paces back and forth in the middle of her childhood living room unable to stay still, as she glances out the window for what may be the hundredth time she turns to her best friend who was sitting on the couch stuffing his face with Oreos.
"I may have strangled Greenberg." She winces "Yeah I totally attacked Greenberg."
Stiles couldn't help but snort in amusement at that, that was a sight he wished he could have seen but no he had been stuck here babysitting the ass-face currently tied up in the basement "Cool."
Buffy turns away from the window and glares at her best friend "No Stiles no cool. Crazy as in me. I'm going crazy!"
Sighing the human stands and moves over to his best friend placing his hands on her shoulders "Well if it helps I'm not going to assassinate you. Spike didn't offer me enough...this time."
At his teasing words Buffy couldn't help but smile softly, he always did find a way to make her smile even if the situation wasn't entirely appropriate laughing softly she slapped his chest playfully "Shut up."
"Hey, guys." A new voice says as the front door suddenly slams shut behind them making Stiles jump in panic affectively causing him to trip over the edge of the couch landing right on the floor.
Buffy snorts in amusement before turning to face Allison, however, her amusement quickly fades as she spots the panicked look on her friends face, this was not going to be good "What now? If you say apocalypse I'm throwing my beeper at the wall."
Allison sighs "They know." She admits making Stiles jump off the floor in a panic "They know Jackson's missing."
Buffy's eyes widen this could not be happening right now, this was the last thing they needed, it just didn't make any sense, they had been so careful "Crazy hunter's daughter say what?!"
Stiles shakes his head in disbelief as he fiddles through his pockets grabbing Jackson's phone, there was no way they knew Jackson was missing, he had covered all basis it just didn't make any sense "No, they can't. I've been texting his parents since last night. They don't have a clue."
Allison merely shakes her head in a panic, it seemed like whatever Stiles had said to Jackson's parents wasn't working because they knew it wasn't their son messaging them "My grandfather tolded me his parents went to the police. They know."
Buffy sighs and runs a hand through her hair, this was bad, very bad, maybe not assassin level bad but still bad "Okay, okay...well they don't know where we are. So that's one thing."
Stiles sighs in slight relief before his eyes widen as an idea occurs to him "Okay I may have an idea to slow them down. Allison, stay here."
With that Stiles grabs his car keys before grabbing Buffy's arms and yanking her out the house towards his jeep.
As she climbs into the blue jeep the blonde turns and frowns as Stiles puts the jeep into drive "Where are we going?"
"Far enough away so that when I call his dad and they try and trace the call the only place they will find it will be the preserve."
After getting the intel on the video of Jackson that Danny had Scott exits his hospital room and begins running to the exit only for the worst possible thing to happen.
His mother.
Scott comes screeching to a halt as his eyes widen in fear at the sight of his very furious mother "While I think you being here to check in on your friend is all sorts of commendable..." She starts and Scott couldn't help but gulp, there was definitely about to turn into a lecture "...I've gotta play tough mom right now, even though I'm not very good at it."
Scott couldn't help but groan now was so not the time for him to be getting into trouble again "Right now?"
"Yes right now!" She snaps her voice raising causing Scott to wince "I got a call from your principal. Buffy skipped school! Again and you! You are failing two classes?!"
Scott's eyes widen in panic, Allison's grandfather was really trying to make his life a living hell "Mom, Buffy wasn't feeling well. I asked Stiles to drive her home, while I talked to her teachers. I'm on my way to go study with him now."
Melissa merely stares at her son completely unamused, how did she end up with her ward getting into fights and skipping school and her son failing out of school, how did this become her life?
Sighing she continues to glare at her son "Do you know that if you fail even one of your midterms, that they're gonna hold you back?"
At that all thoughts of his supernatural problems vanished "He said that?"
