The kikaichū he had left with the rest of his team were buzzing with delight and agitation upon his return, alerting him to the sweet, floral aroma permeating from the pretty, dark haired priestess that giggled madly upon noticing him. His mouth twisting in displeasure behind the collar of his jacket, the Aburame swiftly turned his attention onto his usual two teammates seated across from her. "How did this happen?" Shino's voice was tight, expecting one of them to crack under the pressure before long. "I haven't been gone for more than thirty minutes."

Hinata immediately looked down at the table, saying, "W-well…"

"Ah, don't look at us like that, man! It's nobody's fault." Kiba swiped his hand through the air beside her, baring his teeth a little, and released a snort at the startled glance the Hyuuga gave him for dominating the conversation. "Some dumbass at the bar just thought he could get lucky, and he had their drinks switched while Akamaru and I were out looking for a place for us to stay for the night."

"I-I'm sorry, Shino-kun," Hinata added, feeling like the situation was entirely her fault for not paying attention like she should have. "I didn't realize until Kagome-chan had drank nearly all of hers a-and then wanted m-mine, too."

"Shiiiiii-kunnnnnn!" The priestess in question only giggled more, her flushed face smiling prettily up at the Aburame when she latched onto his arm and attempted to pull him down into the unoccupied seat beside her. She pouted when he only seemed to ignore her insistent tugging, before she laid her cheek against his jacket sleeve and whined, "Don't b-be mad, 'kaay."

"Heh," the Inuzuka grinned at the sight, covering up the faint chuckle that escaped him behind his hand rather quickly. "I already took care of everything when I got back, so you don't need to worry about it now. She'll be fine again by the time morning rolls around anyway, right? With her holy power and whatnot?"

Shino sighed quietly, his brow creased downward, as he focused his attention onto the young woman hanging off his arm. Hiding his face a bit more within the hood of his jacket when he heard Kiba's attempt to turn another series of chuckles into a cough, he had to resist the urge to begin glaring heatedly at the other chuunin again. "I believe so," he admitted, "but I've also never seen her drink sake, so I can't be entirely certain of the aftereffects. It's possible that the alcohol content might be too high for her power to completely rid her system of it, as well, depending on what kind she was given exactly."

"Shi-kun!" Pulling on his arm with renewed vigor, Kagome huffed, "I'm right he-here, so why are you ig-ig-n'ring me? Sit with meeee!"

"I-I could go get something just in case she has a h-headache in the morning," Hinata suggested, watching as the quiet Aburame finally allowed himself to be tugged down into the seat when Kagome nearly fell over in her struggle. Trying not to smile when Kiba unsuccessfully hid another peel of laughter at the way the other young woman instantly buried herself into Shino's side, Hinata tucked her head a little to avoid the harsh light reflecting off the kikaichū host's tinted glasses. "If y-you want."

"It might be a good idea—"

"S-Shiiii… no…!" Managing to snake one leg underneath his once he was seated, the dark haired priestess quickly threw her other one over the bend of that same knee in an attempt to snuggle as close as possible to him. One arm wrapped tight around his, clutching his bicep between her breasts, she reached up with her opposite hand to tug lightly on the fabric of his high collar to pull it down some. "I misssssed you!"

"—given the situation," Shino finished, his ears warming slightly.

Kiba nearly choked on his own laughter, and his snickering was quickly joined by the doggy equivalent of his ninken watching from the floor beside them. "Is…" he paused, trying to force down the rising mirth. "Is this what she's like every time she's had too much?" He could not hope to hide the grin that showed off one entire fang, as he turned his attention to the Hyuuga beside him. "Because this is great, isn't it, Hinata?"

Hinata tucked her head down further, not wanting to admit it herself. She was certain that Kagome was going to be embarrassed enough by her behavior without being teased by the two of them, and she did not want to make her any more uncomfortable when they still had a mission to complete that required the priestess's full concentration.

His pointed scowl now somewhat visible to his teammate, Shino chose not to dignify the chortling Inuzuka with a response. The few kikaichū still lingering happily in Kagome's dark hair began to give off a subtle noise, however, serving as a warning to the other occupants at the table of his irritation with the question.

"Nnghh!" Kagome whined at the sound with it so close to her ear, nearly ending up in his lap when she shifted closer to escape it. "Shiii-kun, no kik-kikya… bugs while… while..."

The Aburame's face softened with obvious affection when he shifted his gaze back down to her, watching quietly as she buried her distressed face into his shoulder. The noise emitting from the kikaichū lessened almost immediately, but he still pulled his only free hand from his jacket pocket to collect them. There was no reason to leave them on sentry duty now that he had returned anyway, and especially not when Kiba was bound to irritate him further with his obvious delight at the situation. The movement caused Kagome to peek up at him, and he softly reassured her that they were gone once they had returned to the rest of the hive while tucking a wayward strand of hair back into place behind her ear.

Her lips parting invitingly at the feel of his fingers brushing across her jaw, Kagome dropped her eyes and frowned a little. "S-sorry, Shi-kun," she muttered, biting at the edge of her lip and squeezing his arm that she had trapped between them. "You know I don't like k-kyacho, but I like y-youa lot."

"I know," Shino breathed softly, knowing that the priestess would not normally be so affectionate in front of the rest of Squad Eight if not for the given circumstances. The fact that she had been using that silly nickname she had chosen for him was more than enough to tell him just how much alcohol she had consumed, even without her attempting to meld into his side or the aroma lingering on her skin. "You're quite drunk, though, Kagome," he said, noticing the way her eyes were falling every so often. "We should probably retire for the night so you can lay down."

She shook her head, telling him, "Don't wanna."

"I managed to snag two rooms, so you guys can... y'know." Kiba wagged his eyebrows, patting Akamaru on the head when the ninken gave a bark of agreement to the suggestion. He grinned at the twitch that developed in the corner of Shino's eye in response, even though he appeared to be ignoring him completely in favor of the young woman settled halfway in his lap. "I mean, it's not everyday that you get lucky enough to have Tsunade-sama send you out on a mission with your own girlfriend, so you might as well make the most of it, right man?"

Hinata's face turned red almost immediately, as she gasped at him.

"What?" The Inuzuka only laughed at her a little. "It's true!"

Idiot, Shino glared at him by tilting his head ever so slightly. He could feel his face beginning to flush a bit, though, despite the fact that he would not be taking Kiba up on the offer to bunk with the pretty priestess for the night regardless. Taking advantage of her while she was tipsy was simply not something he was going to do.

"Mmmhh." Kagome creased her brow, tugging on the high collar of his jacket a bit more until she could see the downward tilt of his lip when she sensed something amiss. "Shiii-kun…?"

Feeling her shift, releasing his arm in the process, Shino quickly wrapped it around her hips to steady her when she turned more into his chest. He managed to keep his face stoic when she planted herself directly on top of his leg by settling her knee into the slight gap her previous leg trap had provided her, though he was almost certain that he was blushing beneath her stare. Ignoring the snickering yips from Akamaru relaying that information to the laughing Inuzuka above him was a bit harder, however, considering how badly he wanted to unleash his entire hive on the two of them to make certain they never spoke of this again.

If only he had not already assured Kagome that he would not release any more kikaichū while they were seated.

"Are you m-mmaadd at me?" the priestess pouted, leaning heavily into him and gripping onto the heavy material of his jacket.

Looking into her anxious, glazed over blue eyes, the Aburame shook his head, knowing that her senses must have alerted her to his increased agitation with Kiba. The fact that the sake she had consumed had not completely muddled them was a reassuring sign, though he certainly did not want her to believe that that irritation was directed at her for clinging to or sitting on him when he was rather enjoying it otherwise. "No, Kagome," he told her, "I'm not mad at you."

"'Kaaay." She hummed softly, as she used the tip of her nose to caress his cheek and pressed a fleeting kiss to the corner of his mouth. His hood shifted with the movement, giving her more access to his throat, and she quickly buried her face into the crook of his neck with a happy smile. "...love you."

Shino's eyes widened in surprise behind his glasses at the soft, whispered admission that only he had heard.

"Shiiii...no…"

His name was a quiet, drawn out sound that lingered on her lips, even as her breath began to even out and she leaned against him entirely. Shino felt her lashes flutter against his skin, his added warmth quickly lulling her to sleep despite the struggle she had put up to stay awake once he had mentioned it. Closing his eyes, he tucked her head under his chin, and sighed quietly to himself knowing that she probably would not remember having told him that in the morning.

"Guess we should be turning in for the night since sleeping beauty's already out." Kiba's laughter faded into a few faint chuckles, as he continued to grin at the pair of them. Akamaru pranced away when he got up out of his seat, saying, "Here, let me help you, man."

"I've got it."

Even Hinata blinked at him, asking, "Are you s-sure, Shino-kun?"

"It's fine." Shino shook his head at the both of them, easily maneuvering the dark haired young woman so he could safely leave the table with her settled against him. She scrunched her face a little with the movement, groaning in protest, but he successfully untangled himself and lifted her up into his arms without assistance. "If you're still willing to go get that medicine, Hinata, I'll go with you after Kiba shows us where we're staying for the night."

The Hyuuga nodded, smiling at the way Kagome buried her face back into Shino's jacket once she had settled with the shift.

"Ah, don't worry about it," Kiba waved at him, "Akamaru and I will go with her that way you can spend as much time as possible with Kagome!"

Shino eyed him from the corner of his glasses, considering unleashing his entire kikaichū hive upon the grinning Inuzuka once again now that he had left the table and Kagome was asleep. It would probably be counterproductive to lose a team member, though, and he did not want to risk startling the pretty priestess awake during the commotion now that she was sleeping off the alcohol that had been given to her. Not only that, but Shino supposed that Kiba was really only trying to look out for him the way a trusted teammate and friend should… even if it was rather crude.

Besides, there was always later.
