Modern World - Neji

"Man, can't wait to see everyone!" Tenten chirped on the passenger seat. She was overly excited for this girl's night. Neji was happy that she was looking forward to it but was also troubled of how her night would go. Fooling Lee and Guy was one thing, but fooling the girls were a whole different thing.

"I better tell you some things first" he would at least tell her what he remembers of the girls, so she wouldn't be so lost in there.

"Oh! Yeah, ok" she glanced at him. Neji started to rummage his brain to remember some things about the females from their circle of friends.

"First, Hinata-sama" he figured he should start with the easiest one, "she is still in college, studying to be a pediatrician" his family was known to be doctors, so it was only natural for her to follow the path of her mother.

"College?" Tenten raised an eyebrow. Neji sighed, didn't they study in her ninja thing?

"It's like doing a specified course to work on this specified something" they didn't had the time to dilly dally, so he explained with the laziest explanation that would make Shikamaru proud.

"Oh, ok, I think" she pursued her lips, deep in thought, "what about Naruto then? If she is still studying, who's taking care of Boruto?" Neji blinked. Who the heck was Boruto?

"Naruto? He is, well, he is trying to open his own business, but I don't know how that will end. And who is Boruto?" Neji knew he was bad with names, but he was sure he never heard of any Boruto.

"Hinata's and Naruto's son" they were lucky that there wasn't a car behind them, because Neji braked to an abrupt stop.

"Say what!?" Neji was almost having an aneurism. Hinata's son? With Naruto from all the people? Sure, he knew his cousin has the hots for the blonde, but no! Just no, he wouldn't allow it!

The sudden stop of the car didn't apparently bother Tenten, even though it almost threw them out from the front window, if not for the seatbelts they were wearing. But she did scoff him.

"I see that you are still the overprotective douche cousin" she rolled her eyes at him.

"What? I'm not a douche cousin!" He defended himself. He could allow overprotective, but he was not a douche, not anymore at least, with Hinata.

"Let me guess, you don't let Naruto and Hinata have a time alone" well...

"Of course not! Naruto is the adopted son of Jiraya! While the man is a respected writer, he is a big, perverted man. Only natural for me to protect Hinata-sama from perverts"

"Ah, c'mon. Naruto can be a pervert, but he always respected, and as a matter of fact, protected Hinata" she glared at him, like he was being the villain in there. "Also, she's freaking 22, she can take care of herself by now."

"You wouldn't know the dangers of this world!" Sure, she was 22, but this was a dangerous world.

"You're saying this to the woman who lives in a world where everyone tries to kill each other and have already faced a war" she told him, and he kind of had to give it to her.

"Ok, maybe your world is a little more dangerous, but what about Naruto? What future he can provide her?" Naruto was trying to start his own business. While it was an okayish decision, it was Naruto they were talking about, not the brightest person in the world. He couldn't even figure that his cousin was in love with him for ages!

"For your information, in case you forgot I told you, Naruto is a war hero. A very respected shinobi. I'm sure that he can do whatever he sets his mind on in here, just like he did it in my world" he could tell from her voice that she was getting more and more annoyed with him.

"It's just..." a horn stopped him, reminding him that he was still on the middle of the road. Grunting, and ignoring Tenten's glare, he moved the car to the sideway.

"Stop being overprotective with her and Naruto" she told him, although ordered was more like it.

"Fine" he sighed. Tenten always tried to ease him about his cousin and Naruto, but he guessed that this Tenten, one that already saw the two together, didn't had the patience anymore for his stubbornness about this topic.

"Good" she eased her glare, smirking a little, "so tell me about the others" Neji rested back into his seat, he still needed to talk about three more girls.

"Sakura also is in college, majoring in some area of medicine" the girl was a genius in the medicine area, Neji read some of her research papers and was very impressed.

"Nice, she's also a doctor back in my world. She has a daughter with Sasuke, you know" Neji didn't knew if he was more surprised with this or with his cousin's news.

"Sasuke? Really?" Neji asked surprised, "He pushes her away all the time. Her and all the other girls. We even started to think that he is gay" Tenten laughed, and Neji was glad that her good mood was back.

"Well, not so far from my reality. But yeah, Sasuke has the hots for Sakura. I'm glad he stopped being an ass and finally went after her." Neji hummed, but felt a little uncomfortable with this conversation. After all, he was compared with Sasuke a lot, he was just less of a jerk.

"Anyway, Ino is studying some psychological thing" changing the girl on question, he knew that Ino's mother run a flower shop, but her father was also a psychologist, who worked on the same hospital as him.

"Oh, ok. Did I tell you that Ino's family has a Jitsu that can control minds?" She just said that like it was the most normal thing.

"Uh, okay?" He really didn't want to know much about that.

"And she has a son with Sai" she added.

"Sai?" Neji blinked. Even Sai, the one who couldn't even have a normal conversation for some good time, had a child?

"Yeah, they are a cute couple" she smiled. Neji was starting to think that maybe the other he should get an act before it was too late. After they switch the Tenten's back, of course

"Well, lastly there is Temari" the hardest one, "I just know that she is generally angry when there are talks about Shikamaru... or in general..." he never talked much with that woman, so he had close to nothing knowledge about her. He just knew that when Shikamaru was around, the woman would be a walking demon.

"Hn, ok" Tenten pursued her lips.

"Let me guess, she also has a child?" He wasn't surprised when she nodded. "And let me guess again. Shikamaru?"

"Yeah"

"Figures" they chuckled.

"Tell me something" he now was curious about something, "Shino or Inuzuka, are they married?"

"Well, Kiba goes on a lot of dates, but never settled. And Shino, well, he's more talkative now, but he still hasn't found his soulmate, aside from his bugs. Them, alongside us, are the single ones " she told him, and he felt relieved to know that he wasn't the last one of their friends yet to settle down, even though he found it a little too early at age to do such thing...

"Shouldn't we get going?" She asked. Neji agreed, he didn't want to be the target of Temari's anger for getting their friend late for the meeting. Then, he remembered something.

"Wait, what about Lee?" She didn't mention him on the single group...

"He's married and has a child" she smirked, knowing the impact of that information. And, to say the least, Neji's ego was gravely hurt knowing that Lee managed to marry before him in the other world.

Shinobi World - Tenten

The girls dragged her towards a barbecue restaurant. The smell was delicious, and Tenten couldn't help but to salivate over the meat they were grilling.

"So Tenten" Sakura started, giving a mischievous smile towards her. Tenten stopped her meat adoring moment and gulped over what Sakura wanted to know while looking at her in that way.

"Yeah?" She asked, trying to sound casually and not concerned.

"How are things going with Neji?" Wait what? Did she and Neji were a thing? If yes, why wouldn't he tell her something so important!? The other girls of the table were looking at her intensely. Even Hinata, who blushed slightly, waited for her answer eagerly.

"Uh what?" She laughed awkwardly, hopping that would get her away easily. Temari scoffed.

"Ah, c'mon! Everyone in the village knows that you two love each other, but only you two don't see it! Even Hinata got Naruto. And Neji is supposed to be a genius for hells sake!" At this Tenten blushed. Well yeah! She loves him, but how could they tell if he really loved her?

"Girls, please, there is no proof that he really loves me. I mean, he treats me like Hinata, in some way, but only because I'm his teammate" she tried to reason, but only received annoyed glances.

"What about that time when he didn't let you participate in a seduction mission, and almost juuken me for saying that you would be perfect for it?" Ino told her. He did that? And what was Juuken? It sounded dangerous.

"And what about that time when he didn't let you go out until you put a less revealing shirt?" Temari added. Well, to be fair, if the shirt was indecent, he probably did her a favor.

"Remember that time you had a date with some random guy, who for some reason couldn't attend?" Sakura asked. Well, no, she didn't!

"Yeah?" But she lied anyway.

"Well, the guy had all his chakra points sealed. And was juuked for some good miles. And the only person we know that can do that is Neji or Hinata. And I bet it wasn't Hinata" Tenten agreed that Hinata wouldn't do that, but Neji?

"Maybe it was just a coincidence?" She really didn't believe that Neji would hurt someone because he asked her out.

"Well" Hinata butted in, "that day Neji-nii left the compound really angry, and when he came back he was angry still, but not so much anymore..." apparently he could.

"Anyway, if what you say it's true, why didn't he do nothing about it then?" The girls sighed.

"Because he is like Sasuke and Naruto, an icy cold idiot who don't have a clue about your obvious feelings" Temari pointed out, then gave her an advice, "if I were you, I would take the initiative"

"Well, I'll think about it..." Tenten sighed, just wanting to end this conversation and eat delicious meat, "anyway, how are the kids?" She changed the topic, hoping that it would do the trick.

Upon seeing the looks of her friends, she had a feeling she was successful.

"Oh, Sarada is growing up so fast! She already glares like Sasuke-kun!" Sakura commented, and Tenten wondered if it was something to be proud of.

"Don't even tell me, Inojin loves to draw on walls, it is driving me crazy, but Sai likes it. Well, he will clean the walls then!" Ino exasperated, "Temari has it easy, Shikadai only sleeps"

"Like his father, but I swear I'll make that lazy bum work hard and be a strong shinobi" Temari has a fierce gleam on her eyes, and Tenten wondered if Shikadai would be alright.

"Boruto is energetic as always, you saw him yesterday Tenten-san" Hinata told her, and Tenten smiled brightly.

"Yes! And he was the cutest thing ever! I can't wait to see all the others... again!" She added the 'again', even though she never saw the kids. She just wanted to see them and tickle them and make them laugh with their big eyes and-

"Oh, meat is ready!" Ino chirped, and Tenten's train of thought was interrupted. She was starving, so meat comes first!

Modern World - Tenten

Neji stopped in front of a restaurant, the smell of grilled meat making her salivate already. She was starving! She had eaten only a sandwich on lunch, and nothing else for the rest of the afternoon.

"Remember, don't drink much" he told her, and she nodded mindlessly, "You wouldn't know your credit card password, right?" Neji then asked her. She blinked, what was that?

"Uh, what is that?" She asked, and Neji sighed.

"Hand me your wallet, please" he asked her, and she did as told. She was curious too, she never bothered checking it. She was surprised though to find no money. She always made sure to have some money left!

Neji then pulled out his own wallet, and she wasn't surprised to see a good amount of bills on it.

"You always use your credit card to pay for things, so use this today." He then took a handful amount, almost all the bills he had and pushed it inside her own wallet. She gaped at him.

"Neji, no! I won't take your money!" She started to protest, but Neji gave her a tired look.

"How do you plan on paying without knowing your password?" He asked her, and when she couldn't come with an answer, because there wasn't one, he told her, "don't worry, we can square this later. Now you better go inside, or the girls will be angry at you for being late"

"Fine, but we will talk about this later!" She told him, getting her wallet back and stepping out of the car.

"Call me when you are finished" he told her before heading out. She sighed, she owed him so much already. She was the skilled shinobi, capable of doing lots of things, but he was the one taking care of her, like always.

"Some things never change" she said aloud, smiling inwardly.

Deciding it was time to head inside, she quickly went inside the restaurant. Didn't take much to spot a pink haired person she knew for ages. Alongside her there were two blondes and a dark blue haired girl on the table. She was the last one, and she hoped she wasn't late.

Approaching the table where her friends were, she smiled widely when greeting them.

"Hey there!"

"For fucks sake, finally!" Ino yelled. Well, apparently she was late.

"Uh, sorry..." she started to apologize.

"Just sit down and relax girl. You're not late, we were just worried about you" Temari told her, and she let out a relieved breath, sitting down as she was told.

"Why didn't you pick your cellphone, Tenten-San?" Hinata gently asked. Tenten managed a guilty smile.

"I'm sorry, yesterday I, uh, was knocked out, and then forgot to recharge it until today..." she told them, making them gap at her.

"You what?" Sakura asked shocked.

"I just fell and hit my head, nothing much... Neji took care of me, so don't worry" she realized her mistake as soon as the looks of shock turned into mischievous looks. Tenten didn't even know that Hinata could have this kind of look! It was both amusing and creepy.

"Ahh, of course. Neji-kun always takes good care of you" Ino told her suggestively. Tenten gulped, she sounded like Lee earlier.

"Well, he is a medic, right?" She tried to argument.

"Of course, but you know that he is quite busy. For him to make time for an unconscious person is quite hard" Ino retorted.

"But we are friends! And that's what friends do for each other!"

"Ahh, but you have to agree that he treats you differently from everyone else" Sakura joined Ino on trying to make a point.

"How come?" she asked, and oh boy, she shouldn't have.

"He cooks for you" Ino told her. Well, because her other self can't cook!

"He once left work early just because you wanted some ice cream" Temari added. Did he really do that? How sweet of him.

"Neji-nii is always extra moody when y-you have a date, then relaxes when you call him to complain about it" Hinata told her. Well, he is a moody person, it's just coincidence.

"He lets you choose the music on his car, or drive his car when you ask him. And you know how he loves that car" Sakura also told her. He did that? Now she wants to learn how to drive it. She should ask him later.

"For heaven's sake Tenten, he lets you comb his hair" Temari told it as if it was the last straw of showing that he loved her. Tenten gulped.

"Well, we are longtime friends..."

"Tenten, just admit your bloody feelings and get laid you two" Ino told her straight, making her and Hinata blush.

"Hey!" While it was true that she did love him, she wanted to 'get laid' with her Neji, not the other Tenten's Neji.

Ino, Sakura and Temari grinned at her blushing face, apparently satisfied with their victory. Tenten grunted, if they wanted to bully her with her crush, then she would do the same to them, now that she could.

"If I am to declare my dying love for him, then you all have to declare your dying love too!" She smirked when their faces paled.

"Wha-what do you mean?" Sakura gaped.

"Well, for once, Hinata, you and Naruto need to get together asap" Tenten told the shy girl, who was nearly fainting.

"N-N-Naruto-kun?" The girl was hyperventilating, and Tenten wondered if she chose right her first target.

"Sakura, just kiss that idiot Uchiha" Decidint to leave the shy girl alone, she pointed at the pinkette.

"Sasuke-kun? He would kill me if I did that!" She wasn't about to faint, but was blushing madly.

"He won't, trust me." She then pointed at Ino, "and you know that Sai won't be talking much, but he makes an effort to talk with you, so get an act quickly" she actually didn't know if he did that in here, but from the redness of the blonde's face, she hit jackpot.

"I, he, what?" Ino was at a loss of words while looking like a tomato.

"And you" she pointed at the last of her friends, who looked calm. Tenten smirked, she could look as calm as she wanted, but she knew how she really felt, "you say you hate Shikamaru, but you want to get on his pants, don't you?"

"What!?" Temari quickly blushed like the rest, her eyes wide, and apparently a little pissed too, "never! That lazy idiot gets on my nerves so much that is infuriating!"

"But you do like it when he shows his intelligence" the blonde started to mumble incoherent and censored things, and Tenten smirked, she knew she was right.

Turning her attention to her almost fainting friend, who managed to recover some composure, Tenten smiled gently and whispered to her.

"Don't worry about Neji, I'll take care that he doesn't disturb things between you and Naruto anymore, so go for him, girl!" she winked at last. Needless to say, Hinata fainted.

Shinobi World -Tenten

The night was fun, after the chat with Neji, the girls just kept talking about their children and husbands, and Tenten got herself wondering how nice that would be. To have a husband and a child. Even more if said husband was Neji, and they had a child together.

Then her self-drama thoughts were interrupted when Ino ordered drinks, and they all started to drink. She was surprised when everyone started to get tipsy and she didn't. Usually it was the other way around. She wasn't a big drinker after all.

"I wish I had your tolerance level of alcohol Tenten-chan" Ino moaned, clearly drunk.

"Thanks?" Tenten laughed awkwardly, surprised herself with how well she was taking the booze.

"One would guess that with Lee on your team you wouldn't drink much, but guess not!" Sakura wondered aloud, everyone agreeing.

"Well, anyway, time to go, or Shikadai won't eat, just sleep like his father" Temari started to get up, and the girls joined her.

Tenten got up as well, when she remembered something.

"Crap! I forgot my wallet!" Rather she didn't have the time to grab it as the girls just dragged her right away.

Hinata chuckled.

"Don't worry Tennie, just ask the owner to put on your tab, you and Neji always comes here after all" she didn't know that, and the other probably not as well, as they were grinning at her.

"Ohhh, really?" Temari launched an arm around her shoulder, smirking at her.

"We better go! Remember?" Tenten quickly got rid of Temari's arm, who only laughed at her, and went to the cashier, asking to put her bill on her tab. She was glad that the cashier only smiled and nodded. Oh, how she wished it was this easy on her world.

When everyone paid, they exited the restaurant.

"Bye Tennie! Say Neji to be a man already with you!" Sakura exclaimed, clearly drunk, and Tenten wondered if they would be able to find their home, while wishing that a hole swallowed her right now.

Sighing and smiling, Tenten started to walk around town, it was a nice night. Not hot, not cold, sky clear, and she was lost, because she couldn't remember where the heck was her apartment.

"Ah c'mon!" Why did the girls had to drag her without giving her time to check her surroundings!

"Lost?" A deep baritone voice behind her startled her, but soon she relaxed.

"Neji!" She smiled when turned around to face him. He was smirking, the bastard knew she would be lost.

"Let's go" he told her when he started walking the other way around. She hummed and happily followed him.

"Thanks, I didn't have a chance to memorize the way home" she explained, and he hummed.

"Figured. So how was the night" he asked her. She smiled.

"It was nice, they are almost the same, but married" she told him, then blushed, remembering some parts of the conversation they had.

"Hn" they kept walking until they reached a part where she recognized as close to her home.

"Say, Neji"

"Hn?"

"How I am so strong to alcohol?" She asked. She was curious, she never imagined herself being a heavy drinker or anything like. Neji chuckled.

"We always toast at your home when either of us have a successful mission, which is quite a lot. So, I guess we drink regularly" he told her.

"Oh, I see. Wait, does Lee drink then?" she asked, worried. Lee couldn't ingest alcohol for nothing in any world.

"No, it's just the two of us" Neji told her, and she imagined seeing some faint pink on his cheeks.

Deciding to leave it at that, she just hummed, and they kept walking in silence once again, soon reaching her apartment. Neji opened her door, but he didn't go inside.

"I'll see you tomorrow" he smiled gently at her, and Tenten wondered how her other self didn't tackle him yet. Then again, neither did she with her own Neji.

"See you tomorrow" she smiled at him, waiving, "and Neji. If you wake me up before seven tomorrow, I'll stab you. It's Saturday and it's my rest day" she threatened him. She didn't need to wake up before sunrise in a bloody weekend.

"Ok" Neji nodded, then disappeared. Tenten chuckled and yawned, she couldn't wait to get some sleep today.

Modern World - Tenten

Something was wrong. Tenten was feeling tipsy, or rather, drunk.

After Hinata woke up again, they finally decided to order some meat, to Tenten's delight. Then, Ino started to order some drinks. She didn't mind, she was used to drink here and there. But after two cups of beer, she was starting to feel tipsy. What was worse, she kept drinking because her tipsy self didn't want to acknowledge that she was tipsy, too proud for that. So now she was drunk.

"Tennie, you know you can't drink that much!" Sakura chirped. Tenten wanted to correct her, saying that she could in fact drink, but her actual state screamed otherwise.

"Hng, I'm fine" she lazily told the pinkette.

"Tenten-chan, is fine, don't wowy" Ino, who was drunker than her, agreed with her, throwing and arm around her shoulders.

"I think we had enough for tonight" Temari, the only sober one, laughed, asking the waiter to bring their bills.

"I agree" Hinata was only a little red faced, but her shyness was gone.

"Aw, you're no fun" Ino pouted, making everyone laugh. Tenten agreed, it was time to get out of there before she was even drunker and said something dumb, something she managed to not do this night.

Remembering that Neji told her to call him, she took out her cellphone. She was able to remember how to unlock it, but she couldn't remember how to call him, she was too excited to go out to pay much attention when Neji explained it to her.

"Um, can you guys help me call Neji?" She really didn't want to ask, but she had to. The girls gave her a knowing look.

"Ohhh, someone's getting laid tonight?" Ino smirked at her, Tenten shook her head in denial.

"No, no, and no. He is just giving me a lift" she answered, still shaking her head. Ino and Temari laughed.

"Give me this" Temari snatched her cellphone away. Tenten would protest, but she figured that Temari was going to call Neji for her.

And she did just that, leaving it on speakers for everyone to hear their conversation. Not long after, Neji answered.

"Tenten?"

"Yo! Neji!" Temari greeted.

"Ino?" He sounded confused, and Tenten held back a chuckle.

"Temari" Temari wasn't very amused by it though.

"Hn"

"Prick. Anyway, come pick your girl" she smirked at Tenten, and Tenten wanted to facepalm herself.

"Hn" and he hanged, leaving some girls grinning at her.

"He didn't deny it" Temari pointed out, and Tenten just sighed. No Point discussing, even more when she was mild drunk.

"He just didn't want to discuss. Now please give my phone back!" Tenten ordered. Temari gave it back, but her grin didn't disappear.

"Well, you wait for you prince of charming, we are getting an Uber to go home alone, and not get laid like someone else" Sakura teased her, and Tenten was close to just disappearing from there.

"I'm not getting laid!" She yelled, making the girls giggle.

"Well, we'll be seeing ya Tennie" Temari waived, carrying an almost passed out Ino, who just waived.

"Tenten-San, take care" Hinata also said her goodbyes, leaving right behind the two blondes.

"So, are you sure I have a chance with Sasuke-kun?" Sakura asked when it was just the two of them. Tenten smiled at her.

"You go for him girl, he may be an asshole and an icy idiot, but he cares deeply for you" she reassured her friend, who gave her a small smile.

"Ok. I'll try… maybe" Sakura told her, then bid her goodbyes, as her Uber just arrived. It didn't take long for her to spot Neji's car as well.

Hopping inside, she was finally able to relax, it was fun, but she was mild drunk, and sitting down again was a blessing.

"I guess I should have told you that you're not a heavy drinker when I told you to not drink much" Neji mentioned by her side. She grunted.

"That would have been nice" He chuckled.

"At least tomorrow is Saturday" he mentioned, starting to drive. Her eyes got heavy as she watched the buildings pass by while he drove.

"Yeah? What about it?" Her mind was starting to sleep away.

"You don't have to work"

"Hm, that's nice" she managed to answer.

"You'll get to sleep more and get over the hangover" he told her, but she was in la la land already, having slept on his car.
