Little Quintessential Quintuplets one-shot I came up with focusing on Yotsuba. Hope you like. :)

Disclaimer: I don't own the Quintessential Quintuplets.

"Futaro Uesugi..."

Yotsuba was laying down on her bed. Her blue eyes were focused onto the photograph she was holding in her hands. Taken five years ago, it showed the forth of the Nakano quintuplets in her preteen years. She was standing next to a young, blonde-haired boy - who had entered the five sisters' lives and changed them all completely.

"Who would have guessed that was you I ran into back then?" Yotsuba murmured wistfully. "I should've guessed with your loner nature and grumpy attitude you gave to me when we first spoke."

A small smile was on the girl's face. She ran her fingers tenderly over the boy in the photograph. It was incredible for Yotsuba to believe he would grow up to be the home tutor of her and her siblings...

...or the person she would find herself falling in love with...

...along with the rest of her sisters.

"It's crazy..." she sighed. "My sisters think you entered our lives equally; back when you decided to become our tutor. But I had a head start of the others; we met all those years ago in Kyoto. I knew there was something special about you back then. That was why all I wanted to do was spend time with you."

Yotsuba took in the smiling expression Futaro was wearing in the photograph. It was rather funny to see him looking so genuinely happy. Most of the time whenever she and her sisters saw him smile was when he had his head stuck in a studying book - and he had roped the five of them to doing the same.

"And yet, you have no idea that was me you met..."

Yotsuba softly trailed her fingers along to where she was in the picture. She took in how different she looked five years ago when her hair was pink instead of orange. Her younger self smiled up at her front the photograph, clearly enjoying the company of the boy right by her side.

"Nor do you have a clue, Uesugi, how I feel about you..."

In contrast to how energetic, bubbly and cheerful she usually was, Yotsuba was feeling uncharacteristically sad. She placed a hand over her chest, feeling the beats of her aching heart.

"That's okay, though..." The smile on her face twitched from the pain she was in. "A guy like you can choose to be with any girl you like... Why would you want a dumb airhead like me for your girlfriend?"

A tear leaked out of Yotsuba's eye. It ran silently down her cheek before falling from her face to land on the photograph. She kept it clutched in her hand, still gazing at the younger Futaro.

"All I would do is hold you back - and that's the last thing I ever want to do to a smart guy like you. I already regret holding my sisters back when I failed our exams at our old school. I can't be any more of a nuisance to my siblings - by getting in their way..."

The tears were falling faster down Yotsuba's face but her smile remained as she thought about her sisters. Their individual strengths and quirks ran through her mind while her love for them all flowed through her heart.

"I'm not at all surprised that my sisters have fallen for you too, Uesugi. Every one of them sees what an awesome guy you are. Miku feels really smitten when she's around you, Ichika goes weak when you charm her, Itsuki has warmed to you and even Nino really cares about you, even if she doesn't always show it. Yes, that's one thing we quintuplets all have in common; it's that we all really love you."

Yotsuba's lips were starting to tremble, but she wouldn't allow her smile to disappear. She continued to think about her four siblings - and the one person which she and the rest of them had fallen for.

"I don't know whether you'll choose to be with any of my sisters, Uesigi. I know we all drive you nuts - but you can have your pick of which one you'd like to be with. Ichika, Nino, Miku, Itsuki... You'd be far better off with any of them - than you ever would be with me..."

The girl held the photograph of her younger self with the boy she liked for a little longer, then put it down beside her on the bed. She wrapped her arms around her legs and held them close, half-hiding her desolate look behind her knees.

"I know you'll make the right choice, Uesugi..." she mumbled. "Romance may not be as important to you as studying is right now... But whoever the girl that you end up marrying in the future is... I know it will be the right one for you..."

Thanks for reading. Sorry if it wasn't any good. ^^;
