Chapters 31: Happy Ending
David took Emma's hand and led her into the dining room, but as he got there, Emma ran off and hugged a very surprised Regina.
"Gramma Gina! I missed you!" Emma exclaimed as she hugged Regina and her parents held their breath at how Regina might react.
"I'm guessing this is little Emma?" Regina whispered to the Charmings.
"Silly Gina, it's me!" Emma said with a giggle, thinking Regina was just joking.
Regina smiled and actually hugged her back. "It's good to see you, Emma. Are you hungry?"
Emma nodded as she pulled away with a grin as she looked up at Regina. "Laz-na-ya?"
"Yes, lasagna." Regina said with a chuckle.
"Come sit down, Emma." Snow said softly, loving seeing Regina being kind to Emma.
Emma ran back over to sit between her Dad and Mom. Neal was on the other side of Snow in a highchair that Regina pulled out for him.
"So what did you all do on your picnic?" Regina asked after they all began eating.
"We rode horsies! And had sword fights! And ate sandwiches! And played tag! We raced the horsies and Mommy and me won!" Emma rattled off everything they did on their picnic in excitement.
"Oh you did, did you?" Regina said with a grin at little Emma.
"Hm mm. By alot too!" Emma said with wide eyes.
"It was not." David said with a chuckle.
"Daddy don't be a sore 'oser." Emma said as she pointed to her Daddy with a serious look.
Everyone chuckled at her response.
"Yeah, David set a good example for your daughter." Snow teased him.
"Henry, back me up." David pleaded.
"Daddy…" Emma said with a sigh as she shook her head.
"I think we need a rematch." Henry said with a laugh.
"I agree." David said with a grin.
"Fine with me, but Gina needs to race with us too! She is a really really good rider, did you know Mommy?" Emma asked with a serious look.
"I know, she is, she taught to be a better rider." Snow said with a grin as she looked at Emma and then at Regina.
"You did?" Emma asked Regina with wide eyes.
Regina smiled at her. "I did."
"That's soooo cool!" Emma said with wide eyes, forgetting to eat her dinner.
"Emma, don't forget to eat your food, sweetie." Snow said with a soft smile.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." Emma said with giggle at herself before starting to eat her food, making a mess of her face as she did.
David and Snow shared an amused look at their daughter before eating their own food.
*****OUAT*****
"No, no! Not again!" Emma yelled at the screen as her son beat her for the third time. "If I had my normal sized hands, I would be beating you!"
"Yeah right! You would still lose to me! I'm just that good!" Henry said with an excited look at beating his mom again. He missed this. He loved little Emma, but it was nice when she was back to her normal mindset. She changed back randomly after playing their first game.
"Rematch." Emma said seriously.
"We have already had like three rematches tonight!" Henry said as he laughed.
"I want another one. I'm going to win this one!" Emma said confidently.
Henry just laughed. "Okay."
"Can you set it up again?" Emma said, knowing that she couldn't because in her four year old body, she was having a hard time reading and knowing how to navigate the system.
Henry nodded with a smile.
"You two are still playing this game?" David asked as he came into the room and sat down beside Emma. He ticked Emma's side, which made her giggle.
"Daddy, you are going to make me lose!" Emma said through her giggles as she tried to play the game.
Henry smiled softly, knowing that Emma was in her 29 year old mindset calling her Dad, Daddy. She was so happy with her parents and so much closer to them right now because she was in a four year olds' body. He really wondered if she wanted to stay this way.
David chuckled and then grimaced with Emma did lose.
She turned to him with her hands on her hips. "Daddy." She whined.
"I'm sorry, munchkin." David said with another chuckle.
"No you aren't." Emma said with an eye roll, but she was smiling.
David tickled her again and Emma giggled.
"Stop, Daddy, Stop!" Emma laughed as she failed around on the couch.
"Okay, Okay. I'll let you play your game, but we are leaving in a little bit." David told her.
"But Daddy, it's early." Emma whined.
"It's almost 8:30, kiddo, it's not early." David told her.
"8:30 is early, remember i'm….."
"29…." Both David and Henry said at the same time.
"We know." David said with a shake of his head. "You still have an earlier bedtime."
Emma grimaced, but knew better than to argue with her Dad. "Can we at least play one more game?"
"I think you have time for just one more." David said with a grin as he kissed the top of her head before leaving them to their game.
"You know I would understand if you want to stay like this." Henry said softly as he started to set up the next game.
"Henry, I'm not staying like this. I'm your mother and I'm not trading you for this. I wasn't meant to grow up with my parents and I'm finally okay with that. Not that I don't wish I did because I do, but I was meant to be your mother. If I had grown up with them they would have no doubt been great parents, but it wasn't meant to be because I may not have gotten you. And I will not trade you for anything."
Henry smiled softly. "But I'm preventing you from having everything you ever wanted."
"No. I'll already have everything I want and more than I ever hoped for. This experience just gave me an idea of what it would have been like to be with my parents and it was great, but it showed me that there was a bigger plan all long that I didn't see. I have my parents that are great parents whether I am 4 or 29. They will always be there for me and you. I have a brother that I will protect and love. And I have you. My precious son that I will always love and cherish. I wouldn't trade the world for you. This is my happy ending." Emma finished with a smile and then was surrounded by a bright white light.
"Mom!" Henry yelled at the white light and alerted the adults who came running into the living room.
As the bright light disappeared, Emma appeared as her normal 29 year old self.
"Emma!" David and Snow exclaimed as they ran over to her since she was passed out.
Emma woke up looking a bit confused. "What happened?" She asked, a little groggy.
"You did it. You changed yourself back to normal." Snow said with a relieved grin, but was a little sad even though she knew this was right.
Emma looked down to see that she was normal size again, thankfully in her normal clothes somehow. "I did!" She said in excitement as Henry hugged her.
"How did you do it?" Regina asked as she held Neal in her arms.
"I was just talking to Henry and then poof I was back." Emma said. "I think….I accepted the way by life is right now. Even though we missed out on a lot, I would change it for the world because then I might not have Henry. But I'm really happy that I got this chance to experience being your child and your grandchild." Emma said to her parents and then even to Regina.
"You will always be our daughter no matter your age." David said softly.
"I know, Daddy." Emma said before grimacing. "That's going to be a little difficult to break that habit."
"You don't have to…" David said with a both teasing and slightly truthful look.
Emma smiled up at him with a grin.
"Do you remember everything from being a four year old?" Snow asked curiously.
"Most of it, but some of it seems like old memories that are a little hazy, like normal memories are." Emma said, thinking that her memories when she was in a 29 year old mindset were more clearer than when she was just in a 4 year old mindset.
"Don't worry, we have bunches of stories for the times you don't remember and pictures…." David said with a grin.
"Oh no…..I'm never ever going to live this down…." Emma said with a groan, but was grinning because she felt so much closer to her parents. She was also happy to finally be back in her normal sized body and she was just happy. She had a son that loved her and just wanted her to be happy. She even had Regina, who started to warm back up to her, that had become a great friend. And she had her parents that loved her unconditionally and would always be in her life in whatever way she needed them. They missed so much, but with this experience they got a little gift of being able to experience what it would have been like if she had grown up with them. She would never forget her time with her parents as a shrunken 29 year old in a 4 year old body. However, she was glad to get back to her normal life with her family.
The end.
I hope you enjoyed this! Sorry for the long wait, but it is finally over! :)
