A breakup one-shot because I'm currently going through a breakup. Whether this makes me feel better or not is anyone's guess.

Since the last songfic was centered around Jesse doing the hurting, this will be the opposite.

Why You Wanna

Out of all of the places in this little town

Yeah, you had to come walking in here and sit down

I'm hiding and hoping my face ain't too red

Since we been over, been trying like crazy to get you out of my head

Jesse walked into the small cafe that he and Rachel used to frequent when they were together. When he ordered his drink, he didn't hesitate to order his new favourite, which just so happened to be the drink that Rachel had encouraged him to try.

He sat down at the table where they sat often and he took a deep breath. It was the first time he'd been in there since the break up because he was worried he'd bump into her as it was her place, the place she had introduced him to when they got together. But, today, he was craving the ice tea that she had introduced him too.

He was just getting used to being in the environment again when the door opened. He looked over and his jaw dropped when he saw her walk through the door. Rachel.

He'd been trying for months to get over her, since the breakup, but now here she was, pretty much in front of him.

So-o-o

Why you wanna

Show up in a old t-shirt that I love

Why you gotta tell me that I'm looking good

Don't know what

You were thinkin'

You were doing

Moving in for a hug

Like you don't know I'm coming unglued

Why you gotta

Why you wanna

Make me keep wanting you

Jesse didn't know how long he was staring at his ex-girlfriend before she was also staring at him. He expected her to instantly turn away, for her cheeks to go red and for her to be as embarrassed as he was. Her reaction was quite different though. Her cheeks did go red but she also smiled and he couldn't believe it when he started to walk towards her.

She was dressed casually in jeans and the t-shirt he loved the most on her, and the closer she came to him, he smelled the perfume that they both loved on her.

"Jesse." she said with a smile when she'd finally made her way to him.

He thought hearing her voice for the first time in months was going to be the biggest shock of all, it was nothing compared to when she reached forward and went to hug him.

He tensed up immediately and hated himself when he did. But hated her even more for hugging him when that was the last thing he needed.

I wish you had on sunglasses to cover up those blue eyes

I wish you said something mean maybe glad that you said goodbye

Why can't you look off somewhere if you catch me staring at you

Why can't you be cold like any old good ex would do

When she pulled away, he was fully able to see her brown eyes, that he loved so much. That he'd immediately fallen in love with, and he wished she could close her eyes, just so she didn't have to see them.

"How have you been?" she asked him.

His jaw dropped at the question because he didn't know how to answer. He couldn't believe that she would have an answer to the question either.

"Um…" he stuttered. "I'm...I'm ok…" he said eventually, knowing that that was the best he could do, considering the circumstances.

She seemed to accept that answer because she nodded before looking down into her lap.

Jesse spent a few minutes looking her over, wishing that the last few months could have been changed. He went red again when she looked up and noticed him staring at her.

He cleared his throat and looked away, wishing that she could have been the one to turn away and pretend he hadn't been staring at her.

Why

Would you tell me that you call me up sometime?

Maybe we can get a drink and just catch up

Like that'd be enough

No, that ain't enough

They spoke for a little while, with Rachel leading most of the conversation; his voice seemed to have dried up and to be totally honest, he was thankful that she was leading the conversation. Eventually though, she'd finished her drink and she needed to go.

"Can I call you sometime?" she asked before she left.

Jesse wanted to scream. Because why would she ask that? Why would she want to try and keep a friendship, or whatever, with him. After everything.

"Why?" Jesse asked. "What's the point?" he asked.

To his horror, Rachel shrugged. "For a catch up, maybe?"

"We were friends before." Rachel said. "I don't want to lose that part of us."

Looking her over, at the girl he still loved, he didn't know how to tell her no. He couldn't bear the thought of not seeing her again so he just nodded.

The next things to happen were a blur of Rachel making arrangements and promising to call and then all of a sudden she was gone. In a haze of her perfume, she got up, picked her things up and left.

Out of all of the places

In this little town

Yeah, you had to come walking in here and sit down

"Why do you want to keep making me want you?" he wondered.

I hope everyone enjoyed this! Turns out, this was slightly therapeutic. Not exactly what I want but good enough.
