WOOOOOO THAT SEASON 2, HUH? I'm excited for everything to come, naturally but for all intents and purpose, anything past season 2 is not canon to this story and any coven head that appears will not make an appearance unless stated otherwise!
Gotta love the power writing Fanfiction gives me.
Future and past chapters will probably include updated info though when the time is right though.
Also, this chapter is about 31k words long, so never assume that this fanfiction's dead, but rather just that I'm working on a chapter.
Now onwards!
Luz was currently in the process of talking to one of many chauffeurs in the castle's employee.
One employed by Belos and a loyal servant to the crown. He was about to leave for the night until the Princess suddenly appeared before him.
She had politely requested his services tonight.
"I don't know Princess… I just don't think your father would appreciate me taking his daughter around Bonesborough…" He said, unsure of her proposition.
"Please!" Luz begged, "I just need your help picking up some friends from their homes! And your carriage is the least obvious that I'm royalty!"
"Even the least conspicuous carriages are noticeable, Princess, someone will notice them," He said, giving the Princess a look, "Besides, did you even get the Emperor's approval to have guests in the castle? Or have Kikimora or Lilith informed of this?" He asked.
Luz smiled confidently and crossed her arms.
"You see, Lilith is on a mission currently and Kikimora is… Well, I don't know where Kikimora is…"
-Meanwhile underground in the library lab-
"KILL IT WITH FIRE!"
"IT'S IMMUNE!"
Currently, several Emperor Coven members were trying to fend off a Beast with many tentacles that were trying to cross through the in-progress portal. It was making a mess of things and breaking several machines with its appendages.
Suddenly, from the rafters of the room, a glint was seen before Kikimora jumped down, wielding a giant Warhammer that was way too big for her small size, but she held onto it easily.
Kikimora was completely silent as she spun in the air before driving the Warhammer into the beast's head, it was easily crushed under the weight and power as if it were a grape, and purple blood splattering on everything. It died instantly, its appendages falling limp.
With a huff, Kikimora pried the hammer out of the corpse and rested the long handle of the Warhammer on her shoulder, easily. She looked bored of the entire situation.
"Please, I've purged more worthy Wild Witches and Soldiers during the rebellion…" She turned to face the in-shock coven guards. To see the 4-foot-tall demoness easily dispatch the Beast without breaking a sweat and even look disappointed at it, made them realize that she was Belos' right hand for decades for a reason…
"Cut up the salvageable pieces," She got their attention, "And send them to Lady Hieronymus of the Potions Coven… She's sure to know what to do with this corpse… And clean up this mess and get back to work…" She spun the Warhammer singlehandedly before it vanished once again.
-Back with Luz-
"Maybe Kikimora is at home, doing small demon things, but she's not going to know about my friends being here," Luz said with a bright smile, "And don't worry about my Dad, he never said I couldn't have people over after all, and besides!" Luz then pulled out a small bag of gold coins and presented them to him, "I can pay you for your help!"
"Are you trying to Bribe me?" The chauffeur asked, shocked at the Princess's actions.
"Bribe? What? No, you're working while you should be home! Consider this… Overtime pay, you could say…" Luz said with a sly smile.
The chauffeur crossed his arms and sighed.
"Fine, Princess, I'll drive you and your friends to the castle," He finally agreed, figuring that he would at least be making a few extra gold pieces.
"Great! Thank you so much!" Luz said as she tossed him the bag of gold coins and climbed into the carriage, "Onwards to adventure!" She shouted, excited for tonight.
The chauffeur's eyes widened in surprise.
"P- Princess this has to be at least 4 months' worth of my salary! I can't accept all this in good conscious!" He said, looking back at the Princess through the glass.
"It's fine, you probably deserve it anyway, lets go before the Moonlight Conjuring passes us by!" Luz said.
The chauffeur's eyes jumped between the bag of gold and the Princess before he sighed, climbing onto his seat on the carriage and grabbing the reigns.
"Wherever you'd like to go, Princess, always come to me!" He said before whipping the reigns.
When the reigns cracked, two illusionary ethereal horses appeared. They neighed and began to pull the carriage forward and into Bonesborough.
Luz looked out a tinted window and smiled.
"Tonight's going to be so much fun…" She whispered, bouncing in her seat as she pulled out her smart scroll, texting Willow that she was on the way for her first.
Luz would then pick up Gus and then finally Amity.
She wonders how the night would go with Amity and Willow.
Luz knew it could either go horribly or it could succeed greatly. As far as she knew, Amity just constantly teased Willow. That's as far as their relationship went and maybe they could even become incredibly good friends! That was the hope anyway.
Luz could only pray that it all went according to plan…
Meanwhile, at Blight Manor
Amity looked herself in the mirror.
"Can't believe that Luz is inviting me to her conjuring…" She whispered with a groan.
"I could've said no… I'm pretty sure, if I tried harder, I could've made a good excuse, like, how she's a princess and I'm just a noble, you shouldn't even be seen with me…" Amity said as she tied up her hair into her signature ponytail style. "And I can't cancel on her now… Especially after that fiasco with Boscha in the hallway…"
Suddenly, A door was slammed open before shut again.
"Amity Amelia Blight!" A voice shouted from downstairs.
Amity took a deep breath.
She expected this.
She knew that this would happen.
She just didn't expect it to happen so soon…
Did Mother really leave work just to be angry with her?
As soon as she broke off the conjuring with her "friend" group, she knew that she was going to have to deal with the consequences of it with her mother…
Suddenly the door burst open and Edric and Emira Blight, the most mischievous twins on this side of the Isles, ran inside and slammed the door closed.
"Whatever you did, mittens, Mom's real angry this time!" Edric said, pressing his ear against the door and could hear her mother stomping up the stairs. Thank Titan the stairs in blight manner were stupidly numerous and Amity's room was on the top floor.
"Didn't think you had it in you, Lil sis, good work," Emira said, petting Amity's head, "Maybe we'll finally remake that trouble trio we used to have when we were younger!" Emira suggested with a gasp.
Amity groaned and smacked Emira's hand away before going to her bed, packing a small bag of her items, to keep herself entertained. She expected that nothing was going to happen, as usual. Moonlight Conjuring's never even went the way they are supposed to.
"Why are you guys here anyway?" Amity asked, annoyed with their presence, putting a sketch pad in her bag as well as Azura #4, as the fifth one had yet to be released… On the Isles anyway, "You know I can deal with Mother myself…"
"You know she'll go easier on you if we're all here at once, so act natural when she gets here," Edric said as he made himself comfortable on Amity's bed, "What did you even do to get Mom like this?"
Amity sighed and turned, facing her siblings, her arms crossed with an annoyed expression about her.
"I ditched Boscha and the rest of the girls, to go to someone else's conjuring, tonight." She said simply before looking down at her feet, "I… I may have also threatened slash insulted Boscha in the middle of the hallway at Hexside…" She said before looking up at her siblings again.
"You guys need to get out of here," Amity said, "I don't want your help and I can deal with Mom on my own… I've been doing it since forever…" She mumbled.
The Twins dropped their usual smug and mischievous demeanor and gave Amity a look of regret and worry.
"Mittens, look-" Edric began, but Amity wasn't having it.
"I said leave!" She shouted at them.
"I agree," A voice cut through the tension, alerting the Blight siblings.
Looking, they all saw the Matriarch of the family, Odalia Blight, standing tall and a look of silent fury on her face.
"To your rooms, now," Odalia said, holding open the door.
The Twins gave each other looks that only they could understand, before nodding at their mother.
"Yes, mother…" They said in unison before they left their little sisters' room, giving Amity a final look before disappearing into the hallway.
The door slammed shut as Odalia looked down at Amity, she somehow looked furious through her neutral expression. Her presence and intimidating attitude alone would be enough to bring any normal Witch to fear and compliance, but Amity has been through this many times, she was used to her Mother's anger and her Father's compliance to just watch it all happen...
All she needed to do was say, "Yes mother… No mother… Because mother…" It was a script at this point.
"Amity Amelia Blight, do you care to explain why Boscha's mother called me, asking why you canceled the conjuring tonight? Also, you threatened her?" Odalia asked, arms crossed.
Amity took a deep breath before answering.
"Mother," She began, "I had a conflict of interest, with another Witch's Moonlight Conjuring. She invited me to her Conjuring tonight and I decided to go to hers, rather than invite Boscha to our home to an uneventful night…"
"Which Witch are you speaking of?" Odalia asked.
Amity took a minute to respond to this question, thinking if she should tell the truth but she feared Belos's wrath more than her Mother's anger.
"Her name is Luz Noceda, the Human… She is the Witch who beat me in the duel a few weeks ago…" Amity said softly.
Odalia's eyes widened. A human…? Her daughter was going to spend time with a human of all things…? A demon could've been a more favorable outcome…
"You'd rather spend your time with a weak human than a Havenstar?" Odalia asked, disgusted with the prospect.
"The Human has incredibly strong magic, Mother, she is tutored by the Emperor's Coven and other heads of Coven's directly…" Amity said, a technical lie because she didn't know for sure, but Amity assumed that she was, they did work directly under Belos after all, why wouldn't they teach her? She's the Princess.
Odalia scoffed.
"Now you are lying to me, Amity?" She asked, giving Amity a disapproving glare. The glare was one Amity, and the Twins knew greatly… It was practically in their nightmares at this point.
"I wouldn't lie to you, Mother… Luz Noceda…" She took a deep breath before continuing, "She is a powerful witch with ties to the Emperor's Coven and directly to Emperor Belos… These are the secrets she shared with me… If you want an example of her magic…" Amity summoned her scroll.
Amity quickly pulled up a video that was posted to the Weave, Boiling Isles Internet, if you could believe it.
The video was of Luz evading her monstrous Abominations punches at neck break speeds. The next clip was of Luz's eyes glowing gold with magic and lowering Amity down to the ground, also healing her broken and burned leg to near perfect condition.
Odalia obviously hasn't seen this video, too busy running a company and keeping up appearances to indulge in Social Media such as this.
But it was obvious that she was shocked, greatly at that, mostly because only those with great magical abilities could even access what she thought Luz was using… but that couldn't be possible, she was only a child… To have that level of power at that age… She must've been really powerful…
She needed to know more…
Odalia quickly decided not to think too much on it, not yet it was way too early for her to begin theorizing on this human girl who seemingly appeared on the Isles and was taking the entirety of the Isles by storm.
"Fine, Mittens…" Odalia said, surprising Amity, "You can spend the conjuring with this Human, on one condition…" She said, lifting a single finger.
"Yes, Mother, what is it?" Amity asked, still shocked her mother gave in that quickly.
"Try not to disrespect that Boscha girl like that again, she carries the Havenstar name now, we do not want her on their bad side, especially when she comes of age. Even her mother," Odalia said, before turning and walking to the door, and turning to Amity before leaving, "And try not to disappoint our name again, understand?" Odalia suddenly lifted her necklace, Amity's glowing a soft purple in response.
"I'll be listening…" Amity heard her mother's voice in her head.
"Yes, Mother…" Amity mentally responded with a nod as Odalia left, closing the door behind her as the necklace's glow died back down.
Amity sighed.
'Titan below she can be so insufferable at times,' She thought to herself.
Suddenly, her scroll vibrated, she summoned the smart scroll.
It was Luz calling again.
No… It was the Princess… She shouldn't call the Princess by her first name…
She answered it as she slung her bag over her shoulder.
"Ames!" Luz shouted.
"I thought I told you not to call me that," Amity said.
"Yeah, yeah whatever, we're on your way next!" She unnecessarily shouted.
Amity groaned and thought about canceling at once… But that would make the Princess feel bad…
Amity practically smacked herself and huffed. Why would I care about her feelings!? Focus... You're just doing this to pay her back for saving your life…
Yup… That was it…
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, I'll be waiting," She said as she hung up quickly and went downstairs to wait for Luz.
-Meanwhile-
"What… Do you mean you invited Amity…?" Willow asked, staring at Luz with eyes that could turn people into stone.
"…" Luz was silent, sweating as she folded her hands on her lap, she was hoping to keep this a secret for a bit later.
"Well you see, Willow, good friend of mine and loyal servant to the crown of the Isles…" She said, stalling it would seem.
"I saw thought you both had a little bad blood between you guys, from school, and I was hoping that a sleepover would help you guys realize that you both have a lot in common! Like, you're both smart, cute, strong Witches!" She said, laughing nervously.
"A little bit of bad blood!? Luz, try an entire ocean's worth!" She yelled before taking a deep breath, "Stop the carriage," She said rubbing her forehead.
"W- what?" She asked, "You're not planning on leaving, right?"
"No, no… Just, please stop the carriage, Luz…" Willow said, shaking a clenched fist.
Luz nodded slowly and knocked on the glass separating her from the chauffeur and the carriage came to a slow stop.
Willow hopped out and began to walk into a group of trees. Gus and Luz peeked out the windows and watched her.
Willow was seen mumbling to herself, listening closely, Luz could hear her mumbling things like; "Amity… Amity I swear if you… Son of a…" Along with a string of curses that she didn't care to repeat.
All of a sudden, the ground began to rumble as several trees, vines, and giant monstrous-looking flowers all broke through the ground while Willow screamed at the top of her lungs. Eyes blaring green with her magic. She looked rather angry thinking about Amity.
In minutes, the magic died down as Willow calmed down and fell to her knees.
The brand-new greenery seemed to begin comforting Willow, acting as if they were pets.
"Oh man, she's scary…" Luz whispered, watching the scene with wide eyes.
"You don't know the half of it…" Gus said, pulling out a notebook and beginning to write down something on a page, "Those flowers are new… Luz, it's not your fault for not knowing, I didn't know either, but you should've run this through us, you know?" Gus said as he quickly sketched the greenery before Willow slowly made them move back into the ground.
"Go back to sleep little ones…" She whispered to them as she wiped away tears.
Luz sighed and smacked her forehead.
"Ugh… I just thought that Amity was just being herself as the stuck-up top student at Hexside…" Luz said with a groan, "But there's clearly something else happening here…" She gasped, realizing, "Secret history between Willow and Amity!? Just like my teen drama shows!"
"Luz, I don't know if human TV shows will help you here… Whatever it is that happened between them, it's anyone's guess, she won't even talk about it to me! And I'm basically her best friend!" Gus exclaimed, closing his journal.
Willow soon came back to the carriage, giving Luz a sort of forced smile.
"Alright, I think I'm good…" She said, taking her seat once again across from Luz and next to Gus.
Luz looked at her with a bit of concern.
"Listen, Willow," She said, "You may not believe me but during the illusion, I saw... I guess I just saw a different side of Amity... I just think you and her could really patch things up if you tried! She's a good person under all that and-"
"Luz," Willow said, stopping her, "As your friend, I will... tolerate Amity for attending the Conjuring, but for now can we please drop it? This isn't something I want to talk about…" Crossing her arms with an upset expression.
Luz debated internally with herself before sighing, deciding not to push the subject any further. She simply sighed, knocking on the glass, making the carriage move again.
Amity sighed as she stared out the window of her manor, waiting impatiently might I add, for the Princess.
Finally, a carriage was seen pulling up to the gates.
"Finally… She really kept me waiting…" Amity grumbled to herself as she walked out of her home and up the gates, meeting the carriage halfway. She nodded respectfully at the chauffeur and went up to the carriage's door.
Luz opened the door and smiled at her.
"Amity!" She said happily, "Don't be upset!" She said suddenly.
Amity raised an eyebrow at her. She didn't have a reason to be upset with the Princess… Not yet…
"Why would I be upset, Princess?" She asked, formally, just to clarify.
Luz just gave a nervous giggle before leaning to the side, to reveal the rest of the moonlight conjuring party.
Amity's eyes widened at the sight of Willow. Amity could see that Willow did not want to be here either, actually looking just as uncomfortable to be in the Blight's presence.
"Y- you know what… I think I'm going to stay home and-" Amity turned to leave.
"Wait, don't go!" Luz was somehow already in front of Amity.
"Woah!" Amity yelled in surprise and stumbled back and tripped over something.
"I got you!" Luz was quick to catch Amity from falling to the ground, she pulled up and unintentionally got themselves in a human dance position. More specifically, the tango, with their faces just inches apart.
Amity blushed at the sudden closeness of Luz before pushing Luz off of her, she took several deep breaths to calm herself down.
'Oh Titan below my feet, she was so close… She looked cute that close though… GAH! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AMITY!?' Amity internally screamed at herself as she turned to face Luz.
"WHAT…" She cleared her throat, crossing her arms as the blush was still quite prevalent on her face, but it was slowly dying down. "What… do you think you're doing?" She then got closer, "And why is Willow here…!? Of all people…" She whispered harshly.
Luz was currently blushing just as hard before clearing her throat, being able to gain her composure much quicker than Amity…
Although the image of Amity's flustered and then angry face was burned into her brain.
She shook her head free of those thoughts before turning to Amity.
"I- I'm sorry! Honest! I wasn't trying anything!" She said, waving her arms to defuse Amity's very obvious anger, "And- And I invited Willow and Gus cause we need at least three people for the conjuring anyways! And I also thought that you guys could…" Luz poked her fingers together, whispering now.
"I thought that… You know, maybe a Moonlight Conjuring could help you guys look past your differences and stuff and maybe be friends and… Try to fix things!" She said, passionate to help with matters that weren't her business.
Amity sighed, rubbing her temples as she felt an intense headache already forming. If she had to guess Luz's title, she would assume it to be "Luz Noceda Belos! Princess of Headaches and trouble…"
"Princess, what my and Willow's relationship is or was, isn't your business!" Amity crossed her arms.
"Because no one will tell me what happened!" She shot back, she then stepped forward and clasped her hands together and looked up at Amity with what had to be the cutest puppy dog eyes she could muster, "Pleeeeease Amity! Don't go! I just know that if you guys tried, you both could be such good friends! I know it! I promise that'll be fun and stuff, I swear!" She begged.
Amity looked at the face.
Usually, when the Twins did this, she would push them out of her face and go about her day but… Ugh, saying no to the Princess when she was like this seemed near impossible.
"Fine! Fine! Just stop it with the eyes already!" Amity said, pushing Luz out of her face and crossing her arms, annoyed that she fell to Luz's persuasion, yet again.
Luz smiled brightly.
"Haha! Works every time!" She said softly as she entered the carriage, helping Amity inside. It didn't take long for Amity and Willow's eyes to meet with each other.
The air in the carriage quickly turned cold and tense, Luz swore she could cut the tension with a butter knife if she tried hard enough.
Willow crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at her with an obvious disinterest and even a slight bit of hate.
"Amity…" She greeted in a cold tone, looking away from Amity and looking outside of the Carriage.
Amity frowned as she took her seat next to Luz, holding herself as she felt a pang of rising guilt in her chest.
"Willow…" She muttered back in a quieter tone than what was normal.
It was silent, no one dared to talk in this atmosphere.
Gus leaned over to Luz and whispered.
"I don't know if this was one of your better ideas, Luz…" He whispered, but everyone heard.
"Don't worry, my young friend," Luz said, wrapping an arm around Gus's shoulder and holding him close, "For I got a plan…" She said, already scheming up ways to make the two bond.
"Hold on tight Princess!" The chauffeur said.
He once again whipped the reigns on the illusion horses.
They neighed before wings appeared in a flash of sparkles. The carriage then was coated in magic before the now Pegasus lifted the carriage and started to fly through the clouds, avoiding the eyes of the denizens of the Isles.
Luz was always happy to see this.
Belos had explained it as the only way for them to go to and from the Castle without being noticed or followed. Not like the castle was hidden in any way, but Luz couldn't be seen coming to and from the castle, it would be suspicious to the more observant of their citizens…
Luz cringed at the thought of referring to people as her citizens… She still couldn't believe she was royalty…
Amity still couldn't believe that this girl next to was supposed to be royalty.
'What does she hope to achieve by getting me and Willow to be friends again!? Does she have a secret background plot or something? Is she actually evil and tyrannical like Belos?' Amity theorized, staring at Luz.
Currently, the Princess had stars in her eyes as she pressed her face against the window to look at all the buildings and towns they were passing by.
'…Yeah definitely not evil…' She concluded with a deadpan expression as she stared out her own window, seeing the town of Bonesborough disappear in the distance and the castle finally show itself.
Amity always found the sight to be a bit creepy… It was made to be siege proof and impenetrable, the spike moat was definitely a testament to that fact.
It was still a mighty sign of power, nonetheless.
The carriage soon landed in a hidden courtyard area and the horses disappeared into a cloud of glimmers.
"We've arrived at the castle, Princess," The Chauffer announced.
Luz was quick to jump out of the carriage, holding the door open for her friends.
"Come on! Come on!" She shouted excitedly, "We don't have much time before the moon gets into the perfect spot for the conjuring! I'll give you guys the sped version of the usual tour!" She said, quickly running off into the castle, past the main gates.
"This is so cool!" Gus said as he jumped out and looked around the courtyard, a group of Coven Guards was practicing magic and high-level spells. They had their masks on still. Gus wondered if they ever took them off... He focused back in and ran after Luz, "Wait for us, Luz!"
Amity wearily got out next, following after the two. Not bothering to run after them.
Willow sat in the carriage, looking upset, and contemplated just asking the chauffeur to bring her home. She didn't want to deal with this entire situation, it was already bad enough that Amity had rejected her friendship a second time a while ago…
Now she had to go through an entire night of acting as nothing had happened between them…
She was so angry that she could just-
Suddenly a vine shot out of the ground next to the carriage. Her face flushed in embarrassment before she quickly made the vine sink back into the ground.
Willow climbed out of the carriage and stared at the gates to the inside of the castle.
"I need to at least try…" She said softly to herself, "Although I find it extremely hard to believe that Amity can change… Or have any sort of good side, what-so-ever! It just feels like that she's lying to Luz to get on her good side… As Blight would do…"
"You know, ma'am," The chauffeur suddenly said, startling her, "People usually hide who they are from the world for many reasons…" He said before shrugging, "But what do I know? I'm just the Chauffeur." With that, he took his leave. Willow could've sworn she heard a clock ticking somewhere after he left.
Willow thought on that… She sighed and started to head into the castle to meet up with the rest of her friends.
"Fine… FINE! I'll give this horrible night a chance…! For Luz…" She said with a groan. Meeting up with the rest of the group, Luz was showing off the Relics Room.
Gus was then seen messing with his mentor's Mirror.
He had summoned what seemed like an army of clones and different human realm things.
"Lord Lovelace never let me get this close to the Silver Mirror of Dawnstorm…" He said, referring to the name of the Mirror.
Luz snatched the mirror away before carefully putting it back on its pedestal, the army of clones poofed out of existence.
"Because they're not toys, Gus," Luz said with a nervous laugh, "My father was telling me about them, one time, "he said that he was given them to him, one day, during the War with Crisis, that even he doesn't understand their full power. I'm pretty sure they're sentient…" Luz said as she saw Willow finally.
Amity crossed her arms and gave the Princess a look.
"Is that how it happened? I thought the Original Coven Heads made these?" She asked, staring at the Abomination Coven Relic… It seemed to call to her to use it, to summon an army of poison and create goliath class Abominations.
She shook her head and stepped away from the Orb and rejoined Luz and Gus and even Willow, who was keeping her distance from the rest of the group, or more likely, Willow was keeping her distance from Amity.
Amity sighed and walked forward with Luz leading them to the next room.
'I knew coming here would only make things worse… Ugh, why did I say those things to Willow when she tried to become my friend again? Makes me sick…' She said as they entered the throne room.
"And here we have the throne room!" Luz announced. The room was grand and large. This is the room that the public knew of. The real throne room contained the Titan's heart and was situated deep underground and highly guarded.
Luz, of course, didn't know this.
"This place is massive!" Gus said, in awe and running to the throne and instantly taking a seat in the throne and sitting up straight.
"I'm the Emperor now!" He joked, making Luz giggle and Willow smiled at him.
"I don't think it's a good idea for you to sit there…" Amity said, walking up to the side of Luz, "I read that sitting in royalty's throne will get you killed," She warned.
Luz laughed.
"I'm sure it's fiiiine," she said before they all then heard a whooshing noise, and a glint was seen heading towards them before a knife embedded itself directly next to Gus's head and into the stone of the throne. Luz quickly grabbed Gus and pulled him out of the throne as they all stared at the knife.
They then heard approaching footsteps. Looking, they saw the short demoness, Kikimora, approaching them.
Kikimora stepped forward, she was seen wiping her hands from what seemed like… Engine oil?
"Princess, please explain why your friends are sitting on Emperor Belos' throne while he is away?" She asked, not at all amused.
Luz stepped in front of Gus, not sure if she was willing to finish the job.
"Alright, Kikimora, I can totally explain everything-"
"You invited them to the castle for the Moonlight Conjuring, correct?" Kikimora guessed as she held up her hand, her throwing knife flew back to her hand, it shimmered before fading away for when she needed it next.
"Uhhh, yeah that's pretty correct..." Luz said, laughing and scratching her neck nervously.
Kikimora hummed.
"You know the rules of the Castle, Princess… No outsiders, of any kind… Especially those who sit in the Emperor's throne…" She said, eyeing the three nervous friends. Gus especially looked shaken up at the face that he almost met the Titan.
Luz was sweating now before she cleared her throat.
"I know but it's alright, my father allowed them to be here!" A quick lie, "On the fact that I already told them the truth about me being the Princess! Please don't kick them out! I just wanted to spend some time with my friends, please Kiki!" She begged, pleading with Kikimora.
"First of all, Princess, please refer to me by full name." She said, folding her hands behind her back, "Second, your friends can stay, if the Emperor approves… Then I do as well." She looked between the three friends, committing their faces to memory.
"Just… Don't go causing trouble in the castle…" She said, giving Gus an eyeful look, "Or sitting in thrones…"
"Thank you! Thank you!" Luz said before giggling, scratching her neck nervously, "It's a good thing that you missed then, huh?" She joked.
"Oh, Princess," Kikimora walked past them, folding her hands behind her back, "I don't miss my targets…" She said before walking around a corner, her soft footsteps echoed and soon enough disappear.
"Yeah… Let's go up to my room…" Luz said, everyone agreed to the idea and followed Luz upstairs to her room.
-Meanwhile, in the moving Night Market-
King snoozed as Eda sneaked through the night market.
She didn't know who was or wasn't an undercover Emperor's guard… Rumor of them infiltrating the Night Market was high speculation, so she didn't want to be seen, not feeling like being a wanted criminal again… Maybe…
Walking past the many stands, her destination was pointed out to her, she quickly went up to the stand and looked around, curtains blocking her view of the inside of the stand.
"Uh, hello? I'm looking for the one known as Grimm Hammer?" She called out, unsure of what to expect, holding her staff tightly in hand.
"I'm the one they call Grimm Hammer…" A raspy voice said, poking their head out from behind the counter.
The curtains suddenly shot up as the lights to the stand also lit up as a Pig Demon jumped onto the counter.
"Welcome! Welcome! I got weapons from the Hinterlands, curses from the Winter lands and Jellybeans!" He shouted, throwing a variety of candies into the air.
"Jellybeans!" King said excitedly as he caught a few.
"They're legally delicious…" He said, urging King to eat one, but Eda quickly smacked it out of his hands.
"Aw…" He said dejectedly.
Eda didn't look impressed.
"You are Grimm Hammer? Is this a joke?" She asked.
"No jokes here, ma'am," He said before bowing, "I'm known as Tibblet-Tibblie "Grimm Hammer" the 3rd! But please, you can call me Tibbles, I insist." He said, showing off the friendly merchant guise.
King laughed at that.
"Listen, Tibbles, I need this elixir," Eda said, handing him the round bottle, it was a curse potion flask, easily identifiable to anyone with knowledge on potions and healing magics. So naturally, Tibbles recognized it.
"Oh, this is one wicked brew, expensive and practically otherworldly ingredients… Lucky for you! I just stocked up!" He announced as his tail grabbed a bottle from the counter and held it next to him.
Eda gave a relieved sigh.
"Thank Titan… I'll give you ten snails for it!" She said, holding up her coin bag.
"Add two more zeroes to the end of that, and you got yourself a deal!"
"1000 snails! What game are you playing, Tibbles!?" She asked, giving him a look that was very much contempt.
"The game of capitalism! Where everyone wins! Well, except you," Tibbles said before jumping off his counter and going to check on the items of his stand.
"Listen here, you slice of Bacon-" She halted, noticing the stack of cards on the counter, "Hey… You play Hexes Hold'em too, huh?" She asked, leaning against the counter.
"Really? Now?" King asked, looking up at Eda.
"Quiet King," Eda shushed him.
Tibbles smiled deviously to himself.
"Oh?" He turned around to face Eda, "Is that what that game is called? I was just using these things as coasters."
"How about we make it interesting?" Eda challenged, Tibbles rose an eyebrow, showing his interest and urging Eda to continue, "We play a few games, 2 out of 3. I win, you give me the Elixir. You win, you can… You can take something of mine!"
"Oh, a friendly game!" Tibbles said as he picked up the cards and begin to rifle shuffle his cards, beginning to do tricks with them. "But what do you even have that I can accept, I wonder…" He pretended to think before snapping his fingers, "Oh! I know!" He paused his shuffling and pointed at King.
"I want the Prince!" He said suddenly.
King felt the world stop. He didn't say, Prince… On purpose, did he? No, he couldn't have, no one even knew the truth about him… Unless he came from the Demon Lands…
"You want King?" Eda asked, looking down at him, "I don't know, I'm not willing to bet my friends-"
"If you win, I'll give you entire months' worth of Elixirs." He said, holding up an entire crate of the glowing elixirs, "Approved by Lady H. herself~" He said, tempting Eda, "But I get to keep The Prince…"
"Listen, buddy, it's not Prince, it's King!" King shouted at him, "And Eda wouldn't bet me for all the Elixir on-"
"DEAL!" Eda said, slamming her own deck on the table.
"The Isles… Oh, Mother, I'm done for…" He whispered, rubbing his skull. "Eda did you not see the way he shuffled his cards!? Only skilled Hexes Hold'em players shuffle cards like that! Look! He made a house from his cards!" He pointed.
It was true, he had made a house, but it was more akin to an actual fantasy castle with several towers as well.
"Don't worry King… I got a plan…" She said softly, petting his head.
-Three atrocious games later-
King stared down in front of the counter; Eda's cards were still smoldering.
"Wow, that wasn't even bad, it was actually sad how bad he beat you." He said, amazed by Eda's spectacular failure.
"That's what happens when you forget about my wild card," He displayed said card, which activated, burning away the rest of her deck.
"How was I supposed to know he had a Wind Breaker! Thus nullifying my entire deck!" She complained before slamming her hands on the stand's counter, "You hustled me out of King!"
"You hustled yourself out of him, I mean, who bets their pet on the Night Market?" Tibbles mocked, laughing at her as he took King from Eda.
"Eda, you got me into this mess! Now get me out!" King said as he tried to run out of his arms.
Eda gritted her teeth and extended her hand, drawing a spell circle, ready to roast the pig for dinner but that only seemed to advance the curse.
"Ugh! I can't! I don't have any magic!"
Tibbles smirked before snapping his fingers, chains erupting from the earth and wrapping around Eda. She gave a yell of surprise as she lost her balance and fell to the ground.
"Hey! What the big idea!? This won't stop me! I'll bite your ankles!" She gnashed her teeth at him as a warning.
"Oh can it, Eda the Owl Lady. You don't think I don't know who you are?" He asked, looking down at her, holding up her wanted poster. The word void was stamped over the reward money, as she was pardoned by the Emperor.
"Yeah, alright, you know who I am, now what? Maybe you've been smoking too much giggle bush, but that poster says "void" I'm not wanted! Emperor Belos said so himself!" She said with a huff.
"Yes, that's true… But you don't even know what you have in your possession here!" He held King, who was now also in magic chains.
"King? What about him?" She asked confused, "He's just a dog demon or something! Give him back to me or you're gonna regret it!"
Tibbles rolled his eyes before holding king like a bag.
"You're a great actor, Owl Lady, really, you are." He complimented, "To have the Isles convinced that Kralj here is just a lowly demon. I'm impressed. There are Demons back home in the Demon Lands who'd pay good money to get their hands on Kralj, here." He said, fixing his glasses, thinking about ransoming off a Prince of Demon Royalty. The amounts of Money were unimaginable.
"W- what in the Infernal Abyss are you talking about!?" She said, still struggling, "Who's Kralj? Are you talking about King?" She asked.
"He's crazy, Eda! Don't listen to him!" King yelled, trying to break free from the bindings.
Tibbles then looked at King and then Eda before realizing. He laughed loudly before sighing.
"Eda, you're telling me that he never told you?" Tibbles asked, smiling as he saw King shaking his head no, wanting him to stop talking, "His real name is Ri Kralj and he's the-"
"Freeze! Unhand the civilians at once!" A voice cut through the Night Market.
Looking, Eda saw a group of Emperor Coven Guards advancing towards them at record speeds, Lilith actually leading them. Her Raven mask was instantly noticeable.
"Lily!?" She shouted, confused.
"Oops, sorry to cut this revelation short, but that's Lilith of the Emperor's Coven, that's my cue to skedaddle!" He lifted his hand and his entire stand glowed pink with his magic before it all shifted into a two-story cart. He threw King inside the living area before getting into the driver's seat.
"Ya!" He whipped the reigns, ethereal horses appearing that instantly bolted down the streets of Bonesorough, several items falling out of his cart in his rush.
"KING!" Eda shouted as she watched them disappear around the corner.
-At the castle-
Luz swung the door to her bedroom open.
"Tada! My bedroom!" She said, moving aside for everyone to enter. Looking around, they were all shocked by the sheer size of the entire room.
"This is bigger than my living room…" Willow whispered, walking forward and inside.
Amity was also amazed at the size of the room before her eyes naturally landed on the bookshelf. It was full of Human literature that she couldn't understand… Who would want to read a story about a hairy potter? Humans were so weird…
Her eyes then scanned the rest of the books on the shelf before her eyes widened.
"Is that…" She walked forward quickly and grabbed what she thought was real, she was amazed to see that it was in fact real, "The Good Witch Azura #5! This isn't even out, yet!" She exclaimed, actually letting her excitement show.
Luz was amazed by the sight of Amity showing another emotion that was seriousness.
She quickly walked up.
"Sure is! I brought it with me from the Human world!" She said proudly.
Amity jumped, not expecting to hear Luz right next to her. She cleared her throat, regaining her stoic composure.
"Well, you are very lucky then, Princess. I've been waiting for the fifth volume in the series for a while now," She said, handing the book back to Luz.
Luz looked at the cover before smiling and handing it back to Amity.
"Here, I read it from cover to cover like, 7 times already. You can borrow it until you can get one of your own," She said with a bright smile.
Amity's tough exterior cracked again as she gave a large smile, holding the book to her chest before clearing her throat.
"Thank you, Princess, that's very kind…" She said softly, composed but was practically squealing on the inside.
"Just call me, Luz, we're friends, after all," Luz said, pouting and placing her fists on her hips with a huff.
"Hey Luz," Willow suddenly interjected, "Can I speak to you about something?" She asked, giving Amity a passing glance. Amity didn't meet her eyes.
Before Luz could actually answer, Willow had dragged her away to another part of the room to talk more privately.
"Luz, you need to be careful around Amity," Willow said, taking a look at Amity, who was already quietly reading the book, "I don't think I've ever seen her actually read Azura or anything that wasn't a textbook…"
Luz only looked confused.
"Willow, what are you talking about?" She asked.
Willow sighed, crossing her arms before looking back at Luz.
"It's just… I kind of grew up with Amity…" She whispered, "When she finally realized that I was weak, she threw me aside and moved on…" She said softly, before giving Luz a serious look, "She's been a mean girl ever since, she only values power and strength. So Luz, I just think that maybe she doesn't like you, but just likes that you're the Princess to the throne…" Willow said quietly.
Luz was honestly shocked to hear that Amity left Willow behind, and even more shocked at Willow's theories… But… Something in her chest told her that there was something deep to this. She saw something in Amity during that Illusion, someone who wanted to help save her home… Someone she could trust if she knew her just a bit better.
She just needed to get past the wall Amity kept up at all times.
Luz took a deep breath before looking at Willow.
"Look, Willow, I understand that you and Amity haven't been on the best terms for a while and that you can't trust her," She began, "But Amity isn't your enemy here… She would never try to take advantage of me or my status, I just don't think that's her, she's a good person…" She said softly.
"How do you even know that!?" She said, louder than intended, "For all we know, she can plotting something behind her back or-"
"Willow!" Luz said suddenly, silencing her rant, "You can't accuse her of things like that, Amity isn't a super evil mastermind, she's just Amity, now come on, let's get back to everyone else…" She said, walking off, joining Gus and Amity.
Willow narrowed her eyes at Amity, crossing her arms.
"I know she's up to something… No way she can just change…" She whispered, utterly convinced of Amity's evil plans as she rejoined them as well, keeping a watchful eye of Amity.
The night continued to be tense, Luz attempting to keep the peace, Willow not trusting Amity while Amity herself tried to steer completely clear of Willow and the topic of their past together.
Eventually, the moon was high in the air. Meaning only one thing.
It was time… For a conjuring!
"Alright! Here are the subjects for tonight's conjuring!" Luz raised an Azura figurine, "We'll be trying to bring this figurine of Azura to life! I got this bad boy at a human event called comic-con!" She said excitedly.
Amity hummed at the thought of bringing Azura to life.
"Well... I guess that would be interesting to see actually happen, definitely better than using a stuffed doll." She said softly.
Luz then held up the Hecate figurine.
"If it actually works! We can try to bring Hecate to life too! We can even make them kiss if we succeed in animating them both!" Luz then demonstrated, making both figures kiss and making smooching noises. "Hehe… Just like my fanfiction…" She said softly.
Amity could only smile at Luz's antics.
Willow rolled her eyes and laughed softly as she lit up the final candle around Luz's room.
"Alright... I think we're ready," She said, softly, flicking the spent match away.
Luz smiled widely and carefully placed the figures down on the floor before taking the first seat.
"Gather 'round witches and ghouls, complete the circle!" She said, holding out her hands.
Gus quickly sat next to Luz, taking her left hand, and smiled brightly.
"This is so exciting!" He said with stars in his eyes.
Amity looked at the half-finished circle, before realizing that she would need to sit next to Willow and hold her hand. She internally sighed before taking a seat next to Luz, taking her hand.
Willow sat between Gus and Amity and took Gus's hand. She looked down at Amity's hand…
She calmed herself, there was no reason to be hostile… Not right now…
Willow begrudgingly took Amity's hand.
The circle was finally complete.
They all closed their eyes and began to chant the incantation; they all had memorized it. Luz followed their example, only stuttering slightly with the words.
"Moonlight, we call, we sing…"
"Moonlight, take this chance..."
Everyone then began to glow with a light blue hue.
"Moonlight, come tie the string…"
"Moonlight, start the dance!"
Everyone remained silent as they slowly opened their eyes and looked upon the Azura Figurine... It was utterly lifeless…
The Conjuring has failed.
Luz groaned as she released Gus and Amity's hands and fell onto her back.
"Why didn't it work?! My dad did it without the moon and I even felt the moon magic and everything!" She asked inspecting the figure, looking for signs of life, "Maybe we did it wrong?" She said softly. "But what could we have done wrong… Hmmm…" She began to think.
Willow stroked her chin in thought, reaching out for her bag and pulling out a book, and reading it.
"Hmm... This says that the Moonlight Conjuring requires a certain level of trust and friendship between the casters… No wonder it's not working, huh Amity…?" She asked softly, eyeing Amity as she slammed her book shut.
Amity narrowed her eyes at Willow, pulling her hand away from her.
"And what is that supposed to mean, Willow?" She asked, crossing her arms in a challenging manner.
"Oh, well, as you know, the Moonlight Conjuring is all about being able to trust the people around you... My Dad always told me that this sort of thing is easier with friends…" She said, placing the book down.
Luz could see that this wasn't going to end well.
"Guys, please, let's relax and cool down-"
"Do you have something to say to me, Park?" Amity asked, ignoring Luz, and giving Willow a hardened look that said, "keep going, I dare you. Watch what happens".
Willow groaned as she stood up and crossed her arms, looking down at Amity.
"I thought Little Miss Perfect wouldn't need for me to spell it out for her, being #1 student after all..." The plants around the room started to dangerously writhe in response to her building agitation.
Amity shot up to her feet, fist clenched with purple Abomination magic glowing from them.
"I know you did not just go there…" She said, her expression turning furious as she took a few steps closer to Willow, staring her down. Willow didn't back down, giving Amity an equally furious expression.
"I did and what are you going to do, Ames?" She mocked, using the very old nickname that Amity didn't like… Just as bad as Mittens… "You going to throw me to the curb again?" She challenged.
Amity's face seemed to shift from fury to shock, before settling back to intense fury.
"You don't even know what you're talking about, Willow," Amity whispered, crossing her arms.
"WHAT IS THERE NOT TO UNDERSTAND, AMITY!?" Willow shouted, "I'M TOO WEAK TO BE YOUR FRIEND TO BE YOUR FRIEND SO YOU TOSS ME ASIDE!" She yelled.
"YOU COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY I DID IT!" Amity yelled back.
"Alright, that's enough from the both of you!" Luz suddenly interjected herself between the both of them and pushed them away from each other, "You both are acting like a pair of babies!" Luz shouted in anger, Willow and Gus didn't even think she could become angry.
Luz clenched her fist tightly, her fist fading into a golden glow before it died back down.
The stress of having to deal with these twos' drama for the better part of the night was finally weighing in on her.
It certainly didn't help that Zul was in a mirror mocking her for trying so hard to do the impossible.
"Honestly, Princess, you outta give up, these girls cannot be friends again, the chasm between them is waaaaaay too large for you to do anything impactful," Zul mocked, eating what looked like silver coated popcorn, "Mmmm… Mirror dimension…" She moaned out in satisfaction.
Luz groaned and rubbed her temples in annoyance.
"You both are just avoiding the problem! The entire point of me forcing you together was supposed to be an opportunity for you two to maybe patch things up! Maybe even understand why things happened! But you guys keep acting like petty TEENAGERS!" She screamed out.
As she said this, the entire castle seemed to rumble under them, but Luz was too angry at the moment to notice this.
Willow stumbled forward and held a desk to keep herself upright.
"Did you guys feel that? Was that an earthquake?" Gus asked, using a chair to hold himself up.
"That was no earthquake… Luz, you-"
"I'm talking!" She interrupted, her form suddenly began to glow blue with Moonlight, before it shifted to gold, but she didn't take notice of it, "This was supposed to be something where we ALL get along and even try to patch things up! You guys are my friends and I just wanted to help fix things between you both!" The castle rumbled again, "But you guys are too busy avoiding the situation to see that!"
The castle seemed to be rumbling even worse than before.
Amity decided to take a shot at this.
"L- Luz, I think we should just calm down and talk this through and-"
"No me digas que me calme!" She shouted in Spanish, eyes suddenly glowing with golden power, "You are the guys that need to calm DOWN and just TALK!" She screamed, her voice echoing throughout the entire castle, as well as a golden pulse of energy emitting from her.
This was the final straw, the entire castle then started shaking, it equates to an actual Earthquake at this point. Luz was brought out of her anger, the golden glow from her eyes and body dying down.
"W- Woah, what the heck is happening?!" She shouted in surprise.
-Outside the castle walls-
Two castle Emperor guards were currently on guard duty, as it was one of the busiest nights of the year, and there were usually teenagers who thought it would be funny to invade the Emperor's castle, so these two guards were staying later than usual.
So they decided to pass the time by playing Living Chess. The game was known to get expensive to maintain and play because the pieces usually ate each other when they weren't paying attention, but it was still fun to see the pieces attack each other for their amusement.
"Wild Witch to G4," The first guard said, and said piece moved diagonally to the spot and blasted away the demon soldier.
"Ah, how didn't I see that!?" The second guard said, groaning.
"Looks like your Demon Lord is in check, the only thing that would help you now is a miracle from the Titan." The first guard said smugly, crossing his arms.
"I always forget about the Wild Witches!" The second groaned. "They never move in the same direction twice…" He said before stroking his chin under his raven mask.
He reached out, his hand hovering over the board before there was a sudden rumbling, that soon developed into a giant earthquake.
"What in Titan's name!?" He shouted in surprise.
The first guard looked around frantically.
"Are we being attacked!? What is this Earthquake!?" He shouted.
"No! Look!" The second Coven guard pointed at the castle.
Looking, they both saw what seemed to be giant tendrils of flesh wrapping around the castle, before suddenly, the entire Castle itself started to lift off the ground.
"Oh… Dear Titan…" The guard whispered as they quickly turned around and began running away, avoiding bricks, and falling stone blocks.
They barely cleared the threshold of the bridge before they turned around to face the castle.
Or, more like, where the castle once was.
For in its place, were a set of stone and flesh made legs, lifting the entire castle high into the air.
"Holy mother of Demons…" The second guard whispered in awe.
All of sudden, the castle lifted one of its giant legs and started to move forward, slowly, towards Bonesborough.
"I…. Uh… I... Think we should call Lilith…" He said softly, summoning his scroll.
"Yeah… Sounds good…" The other said, watching the Castle walk off. "Unreal…" He whispered in amazement.
-Meanwhile, back at the Night Market-
"Edalyn just wait-" Lilith yelled, chasing her sister on her staff.
"I can't sit around and wait Lily!" Eda said, flying even faster, looking all over Bonesborough for King, "Because of me, my little buddy is in the hands of this morning's bacon!" She shouted, looking into all the alleyways, streets, everywhere. No sight of the two-story carriage.
Lilith suddenly teleported in front of Eda and held out her hand, stopping Owlbert's flight path and catching Eda off guard.
"Edalyn we won't find him by rushing through the entire town with no plan and at half power, now drink the second elixir," Lilith reached into her cloak and gave the glowing orange elixir to Eda.
They were lucky that these bad boys fell off the carriage in Tibbles's mad dash to get away from the authorities.
Eda narrowed he eyes at Lilith and swiped the elixir, quickly downing it in a few gulps.
"There, happy?" She asked, "Now, are you gonna help me look for King or-" Eda suddenly stopped speaking as her mouth hung open in amazement.
"Oh my Titan…" She whispered, looking far into the distance.
Lilith turned to face what she was staring at.
"What? What are you looking… at… Oh, that appears to be the castle on two feet, heading towards Bonesborough…" She whispered in utter shock.
Suddenly, her scroll rung. She quickly summoned it and answered the call, eyes still attached to the castle.
"Yes… Yes, I can see it… Two legs and everything, I know… Yes, I assumed that the Princess would still be trapped inside the bloody Castle… So the flesh is attacking anybody that gets close to the walls, huh?" She seemed to be having a conversation with the guard that was at the castle gates.
"Alright, gather the rest of the available guard, this is a state of emergency, I'll give my orders then." She hung up the scroll before turning to face Eda.
"Obviously, something has come up," Lilith said, gesturing to the approaching castle.
"Nono, I completely understand…" Eda said, whistling at the sight, "What kind of Witch could've done something that impressive…?" She asked.
Lilith narrowed her eyes at the castle.
"I don't know, sister, all I know is that they're in massive trouble once I find out who did this…"
With her parting words, Lilith flew forward, needing to direct those below her on how to deal with this slowly developing crisis.
Eda stared for a few more moments, she wanted to help the Princess, she really did but… She turned her staff around and continued her search for King.
"Sorry, kid, can't help you if I don't help King, first…" She whispered to no one in particular.
-With King-
King wriggled in his chains.
"Great… Bet away to a third-rate demon with a fourth-rate merchant stand…" He said before sitting himself up and focusing, black dots of aura surrounded his arms.
He then flexed his tiny arms and pushed outwards. The Chains easily succumbed to his strength and disappeared.
"Reina would be so disappointed if she heard about this…" He said to himself, rubbing his arms and starting to look around the living area for a way out.
"There has to be a way out of here…" He said to himself, he then grabbed a paperweight off a desk and throwing it at the window of the carriage. It bounced off and he quickly ducked under the paperweight, wanting to keep his only horn intact.
He groaned and then actually tried to open the door with the knob.
It turned but didn't open to him.
He groaned and tried to use his demon strength to force it open, but it stood.
"Stupid door… Ugh! It's useless!" He groaned as he fell backward onto the floor with a heavy sigh. King then sat up, in the middle of the floor, crossing his tiny legs.
"There's only one way out of here… I don't know how far Eda is or if she'll save me in time, I can't go back home to the Demon Lands… Not yet, and I can't just let myself be ransomed off like some helpless Imp!" He said, closing his eyes, and beginning to meditate.
"I'm Ri Kralj… Holder of the Deset Ocasu, since I was 55-years-old… This shouldn't be a challenge for me…" He whispered, thinking of his late Father, remembering the few things his father did teach him before he didn't return from his fight with Belos…
When accessing the Deset Ocasu… Never lose control… Keep a level head and focus… Or else death and pain will ensue…
Dark splotches of aura started to surround King as he continued to meditate on this ancient power… Mainly, thinking of transforming…
Suddenly, King growled as he fell forward on his hands and knees, feeling his limps growing in size and length as well as his teeth extending and sharpening.
His eyes snapped open, and they were now blood red and glowing.
"It's… Working…" His voice became deeper and gravelly.
-Outside the carriage-
Tibbles laughed as he continued to drive his carriage, on the outskirts of Bonesborough by now.
"Illusion magic works every time…" He said as thought of all the things he could buy from all the Snails he was about to cash in on, "Maybe I can finally retire in the Upper Shetosa, in the Demon Lands…" He mused to himself before suddenly his carriage lurched to the side.
"What in the world-" Once again, the carriage containing his stand and goods lurched from side to side, making the ride unbearable. He groaned and had the ethereal horses come to a stop.
"That Prince better not be wrecking my place," Tibbles groaned as he climbed down from his seat and walked to the carriage door. He slowly reached out for the handle before a chilling feeling washed over him. A dark one, that he could recognize anywhere…
The color drained from his skin as his eyes widened.
"N- No… That's impossible…" He took a few shaky steps backward, his entire form shaking, "Ri Imperator is dead…" He whispered.
He steeled himself.
"A trick! This has to be a trick! No way this little Prince has that kind of power! Only Ri Imperator did! And- And he's Dead!" He reassured himself as he made an illusionary bat appear in his hand, "Just in case…" He once again, reached out to the handle of the carriage.
There was suddenly a loud cracking of wood before it shattered into a cloud of splinters, a black and purple orb sailing past Tibbles. Looking, Tibbles saw said orb fly into the woods. It was silent before a ginormous explosion went off from where the Orb landed, destroying what was probably 4 entire acres of trees…
Tibble dropped the illusionary bat, falling to his knees.
"Oh… Oh no…" He whispered, "This… This was a mistake…"
"Tibbles…" A deep voice growled out from the carriage… He realized that it belonged… To the Prince…
The pig demon began to pray to the Titan, Mataka Lilith, any deity who may have been listening, as he slowly turned around to the carriage with the destroyed door.
The inside was dark, nothing could be seen… Except the swaying of one long tail, illuminated in the moonlight shining through a window in the carriage…
A pair of blood-red glowing eyes suddenly opened, scaring him onto his back. His glasses slipped off his nose and onto the ground in front of the carriage…
"P- Please! I- I didn't even know that you possessed this kind of power! Please! Spare me!" Tibbles pleaded as he tore his eyes away from the glowing ones in the carriage and staring down at the dirt floor beneath him.
He could hear his heart pounding in his chest and the blood in his entire body felt so cold and slow… It was getting… So hard to breathe…
He then heard the slowly set of footsteps climbing out of the carriage, he didn't dare to look up from the dirt. He took only a glance and saw what appeared to be Wolf's paw, it stepped onto his glasses, shattering them with ease.
The Wolf circled him as if he were mocking his prey, his footsteps seemed to also leave behind black flames.
"What's wrong Tibbles…? Can't stare me in the eyes anymore? Where's all that confidence you had a minute ago? Weren't you going to sell me to the highest bidder? I think you mentioned retiring to Shetosa, right?" He growled out, voice deep and terrifying to listen even to.
"P- please… Don't I don't want to die here, Prince Kralj…" Tibbles whispered.
The Wolf laughed loudly, it was deep and mocking. Tibbles felt like his entire soul was being moved through the wringer.
"You plead for your life after putting such a high price on my friends…? Truly you are worse than the dirt on my paws…"
The Wolf then stepped in front of Tibbles, sitting down.
"Look at me, lowly Imp…" He said, growling even deeper at the scared pig Demon.
Tibbles hesitated but shakingly looked up from the dirt. His eyes widened at the sight before him, fear shaking him to his very core.
The Prince of Demons, with three tails swaying behind him, was much bigger than what he remembered, he resembled more that of a fearsome wolf than a cute puppy wearing a skull. His fangs were razor-sharp and his single horn looked much more intimidating…
His entire form pulsed with dark energy and his eyes glowed a blood red.
"I'm not your Prince…" He said in a lowly tone as he gnashed his extremely sharp teeth at Tibbles.
"I'm the King Of Demons…" The Prince slowly opened his ferocious maw, the sharp canine themselves seemed sharp enough to cut his very soul. Even all his teeth looked as if they were individually sharpened.
Tibbles felt his entire life flash before his eyes as he scrambled backward and started to breathe harder and harder.
It was too much to handle, such raw and fearsome power at his command, he would surely be meeting the Mataka in the Abyss…
He finally couldn't handle it anymore and fainted, still shaking in intense fear.
The Prince noticed this, before carefully closing his maw, dispelling the fearsome aura that he was expelling, and looked down at Tibbles. He pawed at him before laughing to himself.
He crouched in his stance and curled himself into a ball, black splotches of energy started to surround him before turning him into a shadow.
Our cute and loving King then slowly stepped out of the shadows as they dissipated into the air behind him.
"Serves you right to mess with me!" King shouted as he crossed his arms in triumph, he then groaned and felt his chest in pain, "Oh, Mother that's a new type of pain…" He said with a hiss.
"I knew an entire beast bomb of that size was overkill… But I guess he got the message…" He said, looking down at passed-out Tibbles before he fell forward next to Tibbles.
"King of Demons… Huh?" He asked himself as unconsciousness took him into his memories.
-In the past-
The clouds were dark, and the thunder rumbled all over the Demon Lands, echoing across the entire land.
Only, it wasn't thunder and lightning, but rather a beast and a man, fighting for the future, across the ocean in the original homeland of the demons…
It's been hours since their father, the beast, left to go start the fight…
"Kralj…" A small voice said, speaking in Naihcone, the native demon language.
"…" No response.
"Kralj…!"
"…"
"Kralj!"
"What is it, Reina!? I'm trying to sleep!" The young prince rose from his bed with a groan.
The younger, the Princess, shrunk at the harshness of his tone.
"I- I'm just… Scared… Father has been fighting for so long across the water…" She whispered.
Kralj, better known as King to us, sighed as he jumped out of his bed. He had a set of bandages covering his recently clipped horn and around his arms.
He turned on an Oil Lamp and he moved over to his little sisters' bed, placing a hand on her head. She was facing away from him.
"Father is strong, Reina, you know this…"
"But… But the Emperor of the Isles…" She whispered, shaking in her bed, "I heard he alone took over the Boiling Isles in the name of their Titan with help from only a single stranger… And these witches can also harness the magic in their hearts…" She sat up, revealing the bandages over her eyes. "They are not to be underestimated; you know this…"
Looking at Reina's bandaged eyes made Kralj feel an intense amount of guilt… He should've been there sooner to protect her…
"Reina, you know us Demons can use magic too,"
"Even then, only those with tails can truly ever use Magic, like me…" She said, swaying her tail behind her.
Kralj crossed his arms.
"Just rub it in, why don't you…"
"You know I wasn't talking about you not having a tail!"
"Whatever, listen, sister… We both know that Father possesses the Deset Ocasu…" Kralj took a seat on her bed and carefully held her hand, "No one has defeated father while he used it… You know that he will defeat the Emperor…" He whispered.
"Maybe when father returns, he can show us how to heal those eyes of yours… Sorry again… For that…"
Reina shook her head.
"It wasn't your fault that I ran off into the backwoods where all the feral demons were… You saved my life in the end… At the cost of your horn…" She said softly, squeezing his hand, "I didn't even know you could transform like father." She said with a laugh.
"Well… I can only turn into a wolf… And I've been training with Father, to inherit the Deset Ocasu, so it was easier than normal…" He whispered.
"Really!?" She asked, excited to hear about it.
"That's right, sister… Father only gave me a fraction of the Deset Ocasu's power, so the most I can do is make a beast bomb before passing out… Mother says I shouldn't be talking about it, but I think I can already see myself as the Mighty Kralj! King of Demons! Wielder and master of the Deset Ocasu!" He shouted, standing with a demon salute, and surely displaying his mighty ego. "With you at my side! General of my droves of Demons! Together, we'll show those Witches of Boiling Isles the unstoppable might of the Demon Lands!" He said dramatically. "They'll understand what it means to challenge us!"
Reina would roll her eyes if she could, but she did give a soft laugh.
"You're so dramatic, Kralj… Oh, I'm sorry, forgive my use of improper titles," She sarcastically bowed, "King, I mean…" She said.
They both laughed at that.
"Yeah… Father is really powerful…" He said softly as he laid down in the bed with Reina, "I can't imagine becoming King of Demons though…" He whispered, holding his blinded sister's hand, squeezing it.
"Father has done so much for our home already… To replace him… I'm scared too, I guess, to lose him…" He whispered.
Reina squeezed his hand back.
"He'll be fine… We got to keep the faith, Brother… You know that Mataka Lilith doesn't make the wrong choice, it was our family she chose to lead the Demon lands to greatness centuries ago…" She reminded him.
"I remember… Mother never let us forget," King said with a laugh before yawning, "I'm tired… Let's try to get some sleep, I'm sure that Father will beat the Emperor by morning and-"
BOOOOOOM
The noise itself was loud, extremely loud. So loud, that it left a ringing in the siblings' ears, but it was the flash of light that followed directly afterward that illuminated their entire room through their shared window.
The siblings suddenly something washes over them… It felt…
"Kralj… This feeling…" Reina whispered.
"No…" He said lowly.
"Kralj-"
"It just can't be…" He said in shock, clenching his fists.
"Kralj…" Reina also had tears escaping from underneath her bandages.
"Father… He lost?" He whispered, looking up at the window, seeing that it was raining now.
Reina could only hold onto Kralj tightly as the thundering finally ceased for the night…
-Present-
"KING!"
King suddenly jolted awake, looking around.
"Reina!?" He asked with a pant.
"Reina? What? No, it's me, the Owl Lady." Eda said.
"Eda!" He shouted, waving her down. "How'd you find me?"
"I followed this absolutely ginormous explosion that I heard miles back, are you alright? And what happened here?" She asked, looking around and seeing the destroyed carriage door, and the decimated forest as well as the passed-out Tibbles, "And what happened to him?"
"I guess he just couldn't handle the King of Demons," King said, flexing his tiny arms as he went over to Tibbles and kicked him, "Wake up," King said, "You're not dead," He said.
Tibbles groaned and woke before his eyes landed on King. He screamed and scrambled to his feet.
"Get away!" He said, keeping an arm's length away from King, before falling to his knees in front of King, "I swear I'll leave you alone! And- And-" His pleading quickly turned into incoherent ramblings.
"Ha, Ha! Eda look, he's traumatized!" He pointed at Tibbles.
Eda was just confused at the moment.
"Uhm, King'll leave you alone if you give us that entire crate of Elixir… And all your Snails…" She was taught not to waste opportunities when they were presented to her.
"Yeah! And all your snacks!" King added before climbing up Eda's leg and sitting in her hair.
Tibbles was quick to give up his valuables and things before sitting on his carriage and summoning the Ethereal horse.
Eda watched Tibbles quickly high tail it out of their sight.
"What did you do to him?" She asked King, carrying a small chest of gold and a crate of food.
"I thought I told you, Eda," King said as he cutely ate fairy jerky with a growl, "I'm the King of Demons." He said with a laugh.
Eda rolled her eyes as she felt the earth rumble before turning to face the walking castle again.
"Oh Titan, that's right, Luz is in trouble, we need to help her." She drew a spell circle and all the extra crates disappeared, probably going to the Owl House.
With King retrieved, she sat down on her staff and flew off to go meet Lilith who was probably assessing the situation to the best of her abilities with the Emperor being away on business.
King himself, thought on things he saw in his dream… He wondered how Reina was, back home in the Demon Lands…
He found himself staring at the Sea as Eda flew them to the Castle.
-Meanwhile-
Kikimora groaned as she exited the Library, rubbing her forehead.
"What in the Infernal Abyss was that shaking…?" She said as she entered the halls, looking around while several other guards followed closely behind her.
There was suddenly a roar heard behind the group.
Kikimora turned around to face what appeared to be a beast, it had large lumbering arms and thick skin.
"How did that thing get in here!?" Kikimora shouted at the guards.
"There was no possible way that that thing could've crossed the moat! It must've come from the inside of the Castle! This must be an attack!" A guard said, drawing a spell circle.
"No, stop jumping to conclusions, the only way a beast like this could've gotten in is through the dungeon and-" Kikimora paused and rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"Lady Fera's putrid beasts are in the Dungeon…" She whispered before more screams and roars could be heard as what appeared to be a small army of beast invaded the halls.
"How are we going to deal with this?!" Another guard said in fear.
Kikimora scoffed.
"I'll be dealing with these weak beasts, go back and protect the Portal, if anything happens to it, know it will be all of our heads on the chopping block." She threatened as she lifted her hand, a fireball popping into existence, and from the flames, she pulled out a Warhammer from it before she held it in both hands. Its weight not even bothering her.
"What about the Princess!?" The same guard asked.
Kikimora thought about it.
"Don't worry about the Princess. For now, I will make these beast understand what it means to tread on the Emperor's hallowed grounds…" She said as runes on her Warhammer lit up, glowing deep indigo before she jumped into the battle, lifting her hammer behind her.
This would be an easy fight…
-Upstairs-
Luz was currently tying down furniture with vines, generously provided by Willow.
"There… No more stray furniture threatening to kill us…" She said with a sigh.
Amity crossed her arms.
"What heck even just happened!? And- Why does it feel like the entire castle's moving?"
"I don't know Amity…" Luz said, walking over to a window and looking outside. What she saw was surprising. Trees and miles of land, as well as a giant pair of feet, walking, carrying the entire castle.
"Oh… Oh no…" She whispered, before quickly turning away from the window and facing Amity, "Don't get mad…"
"What… What is it?" Amity asked, but Luz's silence was enough to give her a solid enough theory, "Oh Titan, I'm right, aren't I? The Castle is moving, isn't it?"
Luz laughed nervously.
"Let's… Let's not panic…" She said softly.
"Princess, I think we are far beyond panic right about now!" Amity said, throwing her hands into the air, unbelievably stressed at this situation, "Why did I cancel on Boscha and the rest? I'm going to die here…" She whispered.
Luz attempted to take back control, deciding it was maybe time to practice being a Princess.
"Guys, it's fine!" She said firmly, "We just need to relax, not panic and figure out why the heck this happened." She said, looking between everyone, "Any ideas, cause I'm lost."
Amity facepalmed with a groan.
Gus stepped forward.
"M- Maybe it was the incantation! Instead of animating the figure, it animated the castle instead!" He said, actually very excited, "I would be totally freaking out right now if not for this fascinating experience!"
"Well uh... How do we control it then?" Luz asked.
"We need to hold hands and try to control it!" Willow said, holding out her hands.
The group didn't spare a minute to fate, and quickly held hands, until it came to Amity and Willow once again to hold hands. They hesitated with each other.
Amity could only think of her regrets with not telling Willow the truth and Willow could only think about the pain and betrayal she had experienced from Amity.
"Guys, please! We're walking towards Bonesborough!" Luz urged them to hold hands.
Willow bit her tongue, deciding that now wasn't the time to argue, and taking Amity's hand.
In an instant, the entire group glowed blue before it transitioned to a golden hue. The castle suddenly lurched to a stop.
Amity sighed in relief.
"Oh thank Titan it worked…" She whispered.
Luz sighed as well before she stared between everyone before clearing her throat.
"Alright, let's just try to turn the Siege Proof Castle away from Bonesborough slowly…" She said as everyone nodded in agreement.
Before they could even discuss what to do, they felt a loud rumbling. It was loud and came from way down below, inside the castle. Followed by the rumble was an extremely loud roar.
"Luz…" Willow started, "What was that…?"
"It sounded like a beast…" Amity said, eyes wide, "Princess, why do you have beast's inside of your castle!"
"W- We shouldn't! The only beast is-" She paused, remembering and groaning. "The only beast inside of the castle is Lady Fera's of the Beast Coven… She's renovating her ranch and keeping them all here…" Luz said with a louder groan, "They must've broken out of the dungeon when the castle started moving…"
Amity looked like she couldn't even believe what she was hearing.
"Are you serious? Do we even want to know what kind of beast is loose down there!?"
"I- I'm sure it's fine! The castle is usually full of guards anyways!" Luz reassured them, "And I'm sure Kikimora is dealing with them too!"
-Down below-
Kikimora gave an intense war cry as she caved her Warhammer into a leopard-like beast's head, the blood splattering against her face.
She laughed crazily as she pulled out the hammer and looked around her, her "hair" flared and was lit up with magic flames, allowing her to use both eyes. There was still plenty beast left to be taken care of…
"I haven't felt the thrill of battle in a long time, not since the Rebellion with Emperor Belos…" She said as her Warhammer turned into a pair of short swords with a flash.
"Dare I say… I'm having fun?" Kikimora said softly to herself, "Better not allow the Emperor to return and see me in such a manner…" She said.
The various beast all growled at her and began to surround Kikimora, aiming to take her down.
She could only smile as she jumped back into the bloody fight with a crazed smile.
However, in her fighting, she failed to notice several beasts sneaking away from the bloody battle, into other parts of the castle.
-Back Upstairs-
Willow sighed, tired of it all already.
"Look, guys, let's just get out of here and-" She let go of Amity's and Gus's hands and suddenly the castle began to walk forward.
Everyone stumbled around at the sudden movement.
As if thinking in perfect sync with each other, Gus and Amity reached out and grabbed Willow's hands and the castle stopped suddenly.
In their sudden stop, the castle leaned dangerously forward.
The entire group fell forward as the castle suddenly tilted at a 45-degree angle. They all lost their hold on each other as they all fell forward.
Willow quickly summoned vines to hold herself in place, wrapping vines around Luz and Gus as well.
"AH! Luz!" Amity waved her arms, trying to keep her balance but she fell backward, heading directly towards the window.
Willow's eyes widened. She forgot about Amity…
Time slowed around Luz as she took notice of Amity falling, she fell through the open window and was about to meet her untimely end on the ground far far below. She crouched as her eyes glowed gold and launched herself forward, the stone floor under her cracking in a spider web pattern and the vines ripping off her as she jumped for Amity.
She reached out and grabbed Amity's hand as Willow shot a vine forward, wrapping it around Luz's wrist, in response, Luz clenched it tightly in hand. She didn't take notice of the thorns digging into her palm.
Their descent halted to a sudden stop. She panted as her eyes lost the golden glow and she looked down at Amity, holding her securely in her other hand.
"L- Luz…" Amity whispered, holding Luz's hand very tightly. For the second time this month, she had faced death and for a second time, Luz had pulled her away from Death's arms.
"Yeah…?" Luz asked, panting, exhausted from using that super-focused mode two times in one day.
"Thank you… P- please don't let go…" She said, looking down at the ground and how far they truly were from the ground. Oh Titan the trees were comparable to broccoli from this high up…
"I wouldn't dream of it, Amity, a princess ought to put her subjects before herself after all…" Luz said before looking up to the window. It was very far off.
'I can't pull us both up… and my arms are already getting tired, even with my magic going through them, I'm not used to it or this amount of weight…' She said as she tightened her hold on Amity's hand. She yelped as she felt herself slip on the vine.
Looking at the vine, she saw that her own blood was making the vine slippery.
"Oh come on, Willow… Thorns?" She asked in disbelief at Willow's choice of greenery.
Luz hissed at the slight pain and it wasn't healing either, because the thorns were digging into her palm… She needed to think fast… Before they both fell to their death…
"Alright, Amity, you're going to need to trust me here…" Luz said softly.
"What are you planning?" Amity asked, not knowing any way out of this situation.
"Well, I just know you're going to hate it and me, so I won't bother explaining, so just get ready, Willow!?" Luz called out.
"Y- Yeah!?" Willow called back, thanking the Titan that Luz had caught her vine.
"CATCH!" She shouted.
"WHAT!?" Amity shouted, quickly realizing what the Princess' plan exactly entailed, "LUZ NOCEDA BELOS YOU BETTER NOT DARE-"
It was too late; Luz had swung and tossed Amity high into the air and in front of the window. Willow was quick to wrap vines around her and pull her back into the bedroom.
Amity felt her heart beating in her skull as she clenched her teeth in anger.
"PRINCESS! YOU BETTER NOT DIE SO YOU CAN COME UP HERE AND I CAN STRANGLE YOU DEAD!" She screamed.
Luz laughed softly as she switched hands on the vine and looked at her bleeding palm, it quickly healed with a hiss of steam. She sighed in relief and began to climb the vine back to her room.
"I'm starving… Hm, I wonder what stopped the castle from falling over…" She asked herself.
A giant pair of ethereal hands was holding the castle in place, keeping it from tipping over entirely and losing several lives and a lot of relics and history.
Lilith grunted as she sweated, panting as the extremely heavy siege-proof castle continued to heave forward in her hold.
"I can't… Hold onto it… I don't have enough magic… To sustain this…" She whispered, now regretting having sent all the available guards away to Bonesborough to evacuate at-risk areas. She could use extra magic right about now…
"You look like you could use a hand."
Lilith looked up and saw her lovely sister, Eda, floating on her staff.
She was smiling wildly with King in her hair.
"That joke was horrible, sister," Lilith said, glad to see her sister here.
Eda rolled her eyes as she placed a hand on Lilith's shoulder.
"That joke was a solid 10 out of 10 and you know it, Lily," Eda's hand suddenly glowed with her signature yellow magic as she gave Lilith a much-needed boost to her magic.
The ethereal hands became more solid and larger before a second pair appeared to assist the first.
With a yell of extreme effort, she forced the hands towards her chest and the giant ethereal hands responded likewise. They pushed the standing castle to a more viable standing position.
A giant dust cloud picked up when the castle got back on its own two feet… What a weird sentence right?
Eda and Lilith panted, having exhausted several tons of magic to keep the castle standing and the people inside alive as well.
"Guess you took more magic than I thought you would…" Eda said, rubbing her chest, feeling a slight burning feeling.
"Forgive me… The Princess's life was at risk…" Lilith said, as several Coven members flew in on their spears, which doubled as staves.
"At-risk civilians out of dangers path ma'am!" The first one saluted but just ended up smacking the Guard next to him.
"Ow! Watch it, numbskull!" The other said, hitting him upside the side.
"You watch it, bird for brains!" He yelled, poking him between the eyes through his mask.
Soon enough the two began to fight each other mid-air.
Eda was amused at the entire interaction.
"Only the best of the best is let into this Elite Coven, huh?" She asked, facing Lilith.
Lilith was seen groaning, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"You should be lucky to not see these two stooges without the third member of their trio… Anyways, Edalyn, follow me. We are going to run a rescue mission for the Princess… Beware, however, Guards inside report wild beast roaming the halls. I've informed Lady Fera, she is on her way to help deal with this situation…"
Eda nodded as she looked at the things of flesh wrapped around the castle.
"How about those things? Didn't you say those things attacked anything that got close?" Eda asked.
"That's right…" She said with a nod, "I have a plan, just follow my lead."
Lilith and Eda were seen flying towards the castle at high speeds, dodging the sentient things of flesh as they moved in closer and closer to the castle. Lilith took point as she drew a spell circle.
Several buzz saw-like blades appeared before they all began to spin at dangerously high speeds.
"These things seem to have a mind of its own, at times, Sister," Lilith said as she pulled her arm back and threw the saws forward, "So we'll have to be fast!"
The saws cut through the tendrils of flesh, blood going everywhere before they cut through the stone walls of the castle. The flesh quickly moved to replace the walls and both Eda and Lilith sped up, flying in at untold speeds. A second later, the flesh replaced the wall as they cleared the threshold.
They quickly looked around, expecting to see Beast attacking them… But all they saw was…
"Oh… Titan…" Lilith said in shock, the walls of the hall were absolutely coated in the blood of many colors and there were several corpses strewn about, all belong to beasts.
"Your Emperor Coven members don't mess around..." Eda said as she picked up a broken horn and put it in her hair. "This one was burned from the inside out, impressive…" She said with a hum.
"I don't think anyone in my Coven has the capabilities to do this…" Lilith said, crouching in front of a headless beast. "This one's entre head is smashed as if it was a grape."
King poked his head out to see the carnage, his ears then twitched.
"On your left," He said quickly.
The sisters took heed and stepped out of the way as a beast broke through a wall.
They got ready to put it down but were surprised to see, what appeared to be, a crazed Kikimora riding the beast and shanking it in its throat with maniacal laughter.
"Choota Chobuga Yo Chichi! AHAHAHAHA!" She shouted something in demon, laughing maniacally.
King was impressed, looking on with great interest at the demon warrior... And she was working under Belos?
"She's got quite the mouth on her, huh…? Bloodthirsty too…" He said as they watched the beast finally fall to the ground, blood loss and pain taking hold of it.
"Amazing..." He said to himself, unintentionally staring at her blood covered form.
Kikimora's robes, which were usually white, clean, and tidy, were now bloody, torn, and dirty. Even the collar she usually wore had been torn away to reveal her crazed expression as she stood over the slain beast with dilated eyes.
To fall into her savage demon nature… Kikimora should've been appalled with herself… but she was left wanting more bloodshed…
It was such an odd thing for Lilith to see the usually upkept and composed Kikimora acting like a savage demon warrior. It really put into perspective why the Emperor solely trusted her after the Empress herself, even with his life…
Lilith came out of her thoughts and cleared her throat.
"Kikimora-"
The demoness, on instinct, threw her blade at her.
Lilith was quick to catch it with a spell.
"I- it's just us, Kikimora," Lilith clarified.
Kikimora looked embarrassed.
"L- Lilith, glad to have you join us," She said, willing the blade back into her hands. She wiped the blood off the sword with an untouched portion of her robes, "What took you so long to arrive? The castle is rampant with Beasts." She said nonchalantly as if she hadn't been responsible for a small genocide.
"I was busy dealing with the fact that someone has animated the castle, it is currently walking on its own two feet as we speak, towards Bonesborough. We came to save the Princess; she is in danger." Lilith explained the situation to her.
Kikimora stopped cleaning her sword and looked up at Lilith.
"The entire Castle? That's amazing… Only someone like the Emperor could even pull something like this off." Kikimora said before stroking her chin, "Who could've done something like this, I wonder… Was it her…? No no, she doesn't even leave her hut in the woods…" Kikimora then finally looked up at the sisters.
"I must stay here, there is still beast roaming the halls," A lie, she exterminated them all, she truly needed to do was protect the Portal from any damage the moving castle may give it, "You both find the Princess, and her friends."
Lilith rose an eyebrow.
"Her… Friends…?" She asked, narrowing her eyes in thought, "Please describe these Witches that Princess brought into the castle…" She really hoped that Amity wasn't a part of the group…
"The Blight girl you mentor, another girl with glasses, and a dark-skinned boy. I didn't acquire their names. Now if you'll excuse me," The Demoness didn't wait for an answer, before turning around and leaving the hall.
Lilith groaned, rubbing her eyes in annoyance.
"Oh, not only does the Princess have guest over, but she most likely also revealed to two more people that she was the Princess… Let's go, Edalyn, before things get truly out of hand than they already have." With that, the Clawthorne sisters flew up the castle steps. Not noticing a shadow following behind them.
-Back with the danger group-
The group was now holding hands again, glowing gold once more.
"Alright, we need to turn the castle away from Bonesborough, and when I was hanging from the vine, I saw that we weren't too far off from town either, so we need to be really quick on this one, alright?" Luz said, looking between her friends, all looked shaken by everything that's been happened.
"But where is even a good spot?" Amity asked, "The Isles has towns spread out literally everywhere!"
Willow suddenly perked up, remembering something.
"The ocean! From here to the beach, there are no towns in our path!" She said.
"Alright! Then the beach is where we're going!" Luz said, confirming the plan.
"Any idea on how?" Amity asked, "Cause this is the first time this has actually happened to me for a Conjuring…" She said.
"Maybe it needs to be a collective thought? Like we all think the same thing and it happens?" Gus suggested.
"How surprising for a Blight…" Willow whispered to herself but made no actual attempt to hide it. "The nearest ocean is to our left, where our… old Beach Fort is…" She said, it left a sour taste in her mouth, mentioning it.
"A beach fort?" Gus asked, confused.
"Don't worry about it... Amity remembers, doesn't she?" She said accusingly.
Amity looked as if the entire topic was making her uncomfortable, but she refused to respond to Willow.
Luz suddenly groaned before looking between them.
"Alright, I've had enough of watching you both step around the problem all night!" Luz said, scowling, "I'm tired of hearing your constant passive-aggressive remarks," She pointed at Willow, "And I'm tired of you ignoring the entire problem as if it'll go away!" She then squeezed both girls' hands tightly, making them both wince in pain, "Lo he tenido con ustedes dos idiotas!"
It was obvious enough that Luz had enough of them, she also had this aura about her that reminded the group of the Emperor…
"I'll be honest, I don't know what the heck you two've been through but right now, the entire town is in danger and Amity almost died again, so how about you two ponte lo pilas en tu trasero and how about you talk about it?!"
Willow winced in pain, trying to pry Luz's hand open but it was a worthless endeavor.
"Ah, Luz! Ok! Ok! Just don't break my hand! A Witch with a broken hand is a death sentence!" She pleaded.
Luz ignored her and turned to face Amity, also in equal amounts of pain.
"And you won't walk around it and act like it doesn't exist?" She asked.
Amity hissed in pain.
"I don't have much of a choice right now…" She said as nodded in agreement.
"Glad you understand…" She said, easing her hold on the both of them, "Let's start with something easy, what happened between you two?"
Willow sighed, looking down at her feet, kicking at the dirt.
"Listen, Luz, it's a long story… Me and Amity met each other on the playground, and we became the best of friends since then… Her parents didn't like me much, but we went through it together because we… We were such good friends… But on her Birthday, she finally realized that I didn't have any magic and that I wasn't worth her time anymore and kicked me to the curb…" She said softly, wiping a few tears that made themselves prevalent.
"But you have magic now, don't you?" Luz asked, "Titan, you even wrapped all of Hexside in vines! Why couldn't you be friends then?"
"Because Amity hasn't change…" Willow said, narrowing her eyes at Amity, "And she never will…"
Amity clenched her teeth before looking down at her softly glowing necklace… She was listening in… Now of all times…
"That's… Not true… That's not the whole story…" Amity whispered.
Willow narrowed her eyes in disbelief.
"Then what is the whole, Amity? You haven't lost the memory of what happened, have you? Because I remember you saying that I was too weak for you... To be your friend, that because I had no magic, I wasn't worth your time…"
Amity felt everyone's eyes on her, judging her for choices that weren't hers… Looking, she could see Luz with a thinking expression. Amity could only guess what the Princess thought of her now…
To everyone's shock, Amity started to shed tears, catching Willow especially off guard.
"No, Willow... you weren't... if anything I was the one who was too weak…" She said softly before reaching down and pulling off her necklace and staring at it. She clenched her fist around it but couldn't bring herself to shatter it, so she simply shoved it into her pocket.
To see Amity getting off her usual "I'm better than you" attitude was jarring, to say the least, to Willow. She needed to know more… Has she been looking at this entire situation with tunnel vision?
"What... What do you-"
GRRRROOOOOOOAAR
That roar was really loud and felt really close…
Was there still a beast roaming around the castle?
Luz cleared her throat.
"Ignore that! This floor is enchanted with security runes and I'm pretty sure Beasts can't open doors," She assured them, "Keep talking, we're getting somewhere here!" She urged
Willow looked nervous, but she decided to trust Luz. She turned back to Amity, who was still in slight tears, "Amity... What do you mean by that? What do you mean you were weak?"
Amity took a deep breath before sighing.
"At my birthday party, my parents had pulled me aside into their private study, they asked why you were at the party, and I told them I had invited you. They got angry with me and said that I had to break off ties with you and be friends with Boscha and those other mean girls... I told them no but…"
Amity took a shaky breath, more tears falling from her eyes. She groaned, wiping the tears away so that she can see more clearly.
"They threatened you, Willow… They said that they'd sabotage your admittance in Hexside if I disobeyed them. So I begrudgingly gave in and severed ties, saying all those things to you and…. And… And you know the rest…" She paused, taking another breath.
"Willow, I'm so sorry… I… I just want you to know, every time that the other kids picked on you or whenever I was mean to you... it hurt me a thousand times more and..." Tears began to flow down her cheeks as her head lowered out of Willow's gaze.
"I'm just hoping you can find it in your heart somewhere to forgive the stupid rich girl that's me..."
It felt like Willow's entire image of Amity she carefully built over the years just toppled and fell apart into a million shards…
It was just such a shock to hear such a shocking truth, coming from Amity's own mouth... She felt her own tears beginning to roll down her cheeks.
"Amity, why... Why didn't you ever tell me... Tell me sooner...? I... We..." She was at a loss for words.
It was silent in the room before there was a sudden ringing.
Luz blushed in embarrassment. She giggled nervously and carefully pulled out her scroll, answering the call.
"Hello? Oh Lilith! Yeah… We're OK… Yes, I'm aware that the castle is moving…" She looked at everyone for a moment. "N- no I don't know why it's moving…" She whispered.
"Alright, Princess, we'll be seeing you soon." Lilith hung up her scroll, sending it away.
Eda was heard groaning.
"Whose dumb idea was to enchant the halls to make flying in them useless?" Eda asked.
"Mine, Edalyn, you're not supposed to fly through them and it would give intruders less opportunity to escape," Lilith said, raising her staff and lighting up the hall in front of her.
Suddenly a white raven landed on the top of her staff.
"What did you see, Archimedes…?" She asked her Palisman. The raven cawed and its eyes flashed bright blue, mentally transferring all he saw directly to Lilith, from scouting ahead. Archimedes went back up to his position on her staff and slowly went back to being an ornate decoration. "I see…" Lilith said as they continued to walk forward.
"What are we dealing with?" Eda asked, quickly catching up.
"First Beast is big, with sharp claws, sharp enough to shred stone. The second is a... An Oni, the big and Brutish kind," She said, pulling out her scroll and reading a report directly from the Beast Coven Head, "Lady Fera was apparently going to hunt it and..." She read it more closely, "Stuff it in her study..."
"So what? Like Taxidermy or something? Would be a nice trophy." Eda said with a shrug.
"Something like that... Eventually..." She said, cringing at the words in the rather graphic message she had received directly from the Coven Head. She closed her scroll, not being able to read anymore.
"I wish the Lady Fera weren't so descriptive in her reports... Let's get going before the Princess turns into a calendar date…"
The sisters quickly went off to catch up with the Princess. They still haven't noticed that they were being followed by a dark shadow.
-Back in Luz's room-
Willow and Amity were currently discussing things, confirming facts, and dispelling any confusion that may have arisen between the two. They had decided to sit on the floor at this point, still holding hands to make sure the castle wasn't moving.
Willow sighed, curling a strand of hair between her fingers.
"Well... You aren't lying, that much is true..." She said softly. "Listen, Amity, I guess... I can look forward to being your friend again... But it'll take a while for things to be back to what they once were…" She said softly.
Amity smiled, sniffling as she laughed lowly.
"Thank you, Willow… For understanding…"
They gave each other kind smiles before a roar was heard. This time it was right outside the Hallway.
"Alright, I'm happy for you guys, really I am," Gus said as he looked towards the door, "But that sounded really close… Luz, I thought you said the floor was enchanted!?" He asked nervously.
"I- I thought it was! The runes must've been moved or damaged when we started moving… Man, what is the point of this dang security system if all I need to do to disable it, is pull a stone out the wall!?" She asked, annoyed before taking a deep breath, "Alright, Alright, let's just… not panic guys, Lilith and Eda are on their way to help us out. Let's just focus on moving the castle away from town.
Amity wiped her eyes and nodded.
"Okay, so we just… All have to the same thought, focus in on it, and command the castle to move where we want it to, right?" She clarified.
Luz nodded.
"Right, that's the working theory anyway," She said, "Remember guys very carefully, turn left, towards the ocean. We don't want Bonesborough to have footprints…" She joked.
Everyone closed their eyes and focused on thinking of wanting the castle to turn left and walk towards the Ocean.
Then, the castle rumbled as they felt themselves moving again… They turned left and started walking… Very… Very slowly.
"This… Might take a while…" Amity commented.
Luz peeked out the window.
"I think... It's because we're being too careful..." She theorized, "Let's try to be faster?"
Gus suddenly had stars in his eyes.
"Ooh! Ooh! Let me try!" He suddenly began to think really hard about moving fast.
"Gus, no, wait-!" Amity tried to stop him, but it was too late.
The entire castle began running forward.
The once rumbling footsteps felt more like earthquakes now, and the force of the entire castle running knocked the group out of the circle, separating them and smacking them against a wall, the speed pressing them all against it and kept them all in place.
"Oof!" Luz exclaimed, not believing that she was actually being pinned against the wall. She tried to keep her cool. Everyone else… They weren't faring so well…
Both Willow and Amity were both screaming as they held each other's hands tightly, Gus holding onto nobody but still screaming, nonetheless.
"Why must you betray my trust, brain!" Gus shouted in-between screams.
Luz was the only one who was not screaming bloody Mary…
She gritted her teeth, beginning to think…
What to do, what to do...
For the second time tonight, time itself slowed to a snail's pace. Looking around, she realized this is just like the Witches Duel… What was this power that she kept accessing…?
She could think on that later, carefully, she reached out and grabbed Gus, reconnecting his hands with Amity's before holding his hand and completing the circle. She then thought really hard on the castle slowing to a stop.
Time returned to normal as Luz quickly realized that she should've been more specific with her thoughts.
The castle came to a stable stop, yes, but the trade-off was that it jerked the entire group across the room at untold speeds. The entire contents of the room went flying as well, things inside of the castle very easily shattering against the walls as well.
Amity watched the wall that was quickly approaching. Not wanting to be a bloody stain on said wall, she thought quickly and drew a spell circle, and an Abomination rose from the cracks in the stone floor, before grabbing the Princess's bed and threw it in their path.
They all smacked into the bed at high speeds, all giving grunts is discomfort as they hit the soft mattress.
They all fell to the ground.
They didn't need to think twice, quickly rejoining hands with each other, making the castle stop moving once again.
Luz panted, using all that high leveled magic was really starting to wear in on her…
"New... New Rule... We are going… To think really hard before we decide to do something… God, I'm hungry… I could use a few burgers…" She said between pants.
Everyone groaned before giving a simultaneous thumbs up.
"Agreed…" They all said.
"To thinking…" Amity began.
"And to that food…" Gus finished.
Luz looked around her destroyed room, all her furniture was smashed and destroyed, everything would need to be replaced and the bed was ruined too, it had abomination goo all over it.
"I didn't even know you could summon abominations from nothing…" Luz commented, "It's impressive what you can do Amity…" She complimented.
Amity blushed before crossing her arms with a huff, looking away from the Princess.
"I- It's not that impressive… I've been doing it since forever…" She whispered.
Then Luz's eyes landed on the door… It was wide open… A better way to describe it would be that the entire door was actually in splinters, a stone brick having to want to test the durability of the door.
Conclusion? Not very durable.
"Oh no…" Luz said softly.
Willow's head snapped towards Luz.
"What do you mean "oh no" Luz?" She asked.
Luz laughed nervously.
"I- Uh, The door seems to have broken and feral beasts are roaming the hallways, probably angry from being thrashed around…" She said softly.
A roar was heard as something busts through the doorway, to the group's surprise it was a large creature with a bullet-shaped body, large claws, and silver-like scales, and layered shells all over its body. It gave another roar, asserting to them that he, in fact, did exist.
"IS THAT A BULETTE!?" Amity uncharacteristically screamed out, before covering her mouth.
Luz didn't spare any time pulling the group to cover, hiding everyone behind a desk. She experimentally let go of their hands, and the castle began to walk towards the ocean.
"Alright, I have… No clue what to do, that thing has amor… amor, guys!" Luz said.
"Did it see us…?" Willow asked, taking a peek from around the desk.
Amity shook her head no, crossing her arms.
"NO, Lilith taught me about Bulettes… They have terrible eyesight, which is why they mostly remain underground. They're basically land sharks. Though, they have excellent—"
CRUNCH!
They all turned to see the Bulette munching on the desk that was meant to be their cover.
Amity gave a deadpan look.
"…Hearing… They have excellent hearing…" She finished with a whisper and sigh.
"SCATTER!" Luz shouted and everyone did so, running in different directions as the Bulette attempted to take a bite out of the teenagers, trying to put them on a funeral reef.
The Bulette lowered its head and growled, using its exceptional to pick up the vibrations… He snapped its head towards the closet target, without hesitation, it jumped after Luz.
Luz's eyes widened as she jumped back, expecting time to slow down but it never did.
"Ah crap… I've used too much magic…" She said, avoiding another bite from its jaws. "Pésima bala bastarda! Any ideas guys! I don't feel like being lunch!"
Amity stood by.
"Maybe it—" She stopped, tensing, and then pointing, "Luz, look out!"
Before the Princess could react, the Bulette jumped at Luz and pinned her down with its right claws, its maw opening with dripping drool.
Luz cringes, not only at the smell but also at the fact she was being drooled on.
"Ugh, nasty… Get… Off!" Luz shouted, reeling her arm back and forming a fist.
The group saw Luz's fist flicker with golden magic before she punched the Bulette directly on the snout.
One of two things happened. One, the Bulette seemed dazed but unbothered by Luz's punch. Two, Luz felt several bones in her hand crack and break. She felt a shock through her body as she held her wrist in pain and let out a yell. She is heard cursing in Spanish, naturally.
The group was glad they weren't able to understand Luz's human language, cause the things she was saying seemed to be nasty… They could just feel it…
The Bulette growled and brought its maw closer to Luz, before roaring at her.
Luz swore she would go deaf here and now from how loud it was.
"Luz!" Amity shouted suddenly, beginning to draw a spell circle, "Don't worry! I'll- Wait…" She stopped, watching as something interesting started to happen. "Uh… What's it doing…?" Amity asked, confused.
The Bulette paused, sniffing Luz before it found a very familiar scent on her.
LICK!
It was an odd feeling, staring death in the maw before it licked you.
To the group's shock, the Bulette was licking Luz's cheek, like a dog would with its master.
Luz was confused before she was licked again, she couldn't even stay angry with the beast, she began to giggle as she continued to be licked by it.
"A- alright, boy, down!" She said in between giggles, beginning to use her good hand to unconsciously scratch a good spot under his scales, "Who's a good boy!?" She asked.
The Bulette groans in content as it falls over on its back, kicking its leg as if it was just a giant dog.
"Are you guys seeing this?" Amity asked, trying to confirm what she was seeing.
Willow carefully came out of cover.
"I'm not sure... What I'm seeing..." She said softly before she spotted something interesting. "What is…" She carefully reached out and grabbed something that was poking out from under his layered scales. It appeared to be a dog collar with a golden tag. She read it.
"Ferguson Fera…" She read out loud, flipping it over, "If lost, please return to Ailsa Fera… It has a Beast Keeping Coven symbol stamped into it…"
Gus's eyes suddenly widened.
"Oh! That's Lady Fera! She's head of that Coven!" He said, snapping his fingers in recognition.
"She owns one of these things!? Bulettes can cut through stone and are supposed to be wild! How did she do that?" Amity asked.
Gus shrugged.
"She's the Head of Beast Keeping for a reason," He said with a laugh, "Master Lovelace says that she's done the impossible before with all kinds of Beasts."
"Amazing…" Willow whispered.
"Heh Heh, who's a good boy!?"
Looking, the entire group turned to look at Luz. Who was in her own world with the killing machine, as she continued to give the small beast pets and scratches. Her hand had unconsciously healed itself, bones no longer broken.
They all wondered if Luz had ever actually been truly injured for longer than two minutes at a time…
Willow cleared her throat to get her attention.
Luz looked up.
"Hm? What's up?" She asked.
"This Bulette belongs to Lady Fera," Willow informed, "I think that's why he didn't… Take a bite out of you…"
"OH! No wonder! I knew I recognized this terrifying cutie!" Luz said, giving Ferguson belly scratches. Acting as if Ferguson weren't about to make her into a snack, "Yes, you are!" She said in a baby voice to the Beast.
Amity couldn't help but smile at Luz's insistence on petting the thing with sharper than sharpened steel claws and a bite with the force enough to sever limbs… She was so fearless, it was incredible…
Amity was brought out of her thoughts by Luz speaking once again.
"I remember Lady Fera asked for something of mine, a T-shirt. She said it was so she could teach her Beasts who not to attack… Guess it finally paid off, huh?" Luz asked with a laugh, "It's been maybe a month already and you still remember the scent, what a goodbye…" Luz said softly, Ferguson responded by licking her some more. She laughed in response.
There was a sudden rumbling.
Luz looked up, remembering.
"Oh right! The castle is moving!" She said quickly before rushing over to a window and looking out, "Haha! Alright! No towns for miles! We're looking frosty, although the beach is coming in hot." She said, turning to face her friends, they only looked confused by the human phrasing of her words.
"Uhm… No towns for miles, we're doing good, but the beach is coming up quick." She translated.
They all looked like they understood at once. Luz sighed; she could not believe that everyone was so literal around here… She needed to teach them idioms! It would be fun…
Ferguson suddenly flipped from its back onto his feet, growling at the door.
"What's he growling at…?" Amity asked, "I thought he was the only thing in the hall…?"
"Doesn't look like it…" Willow added as they got closer together.
Luz took a deep breath before clearing her throat.
"W- Who's there?!" She called out, as everyone prepared spells to attack if necessary.
"HUNGRY! SMELL WITCH!" A rumbling voice bellowed from the end of the hallway.
Luz felt a pit of despair fill her chest, an instinct in the back of her head told her that this wasn't going to be a fair or even good fight.
"Guys! Hide, now!" Luz said quickly.
Everyone did as told, choosing places to hide.
Willow slid under the bed, Gus went inside a standing dresser and cast invisibility on himself for good measure while Luz pushed Amity and Ferguson into her rather large closet, closing the door and allowing a bit of clearance to peak what was happening.
Amity could be heard groaning, quietly.
"Can we not catch a break tonight? It's always something after the other…" She whispered to Luz as she pushed against Ferguson, "D- Down boy…" She whispered, not feeling the same connection as Luz did to the beast.
Luz gave a soft laugh, as she took another peek out of the closet door.
"The fun never ends here on the Boiling Isles, does it...?" She whispered.
Abruptly cutting off her thoughts, the entire wall to Luz's room was broken through and a large, red Demon entered, he was wielding an iron support beam for a club.
"Amity… Call Lilith and tell her that the monsters are in my room..." She whispered to Amity, eyeing the lumbering brute of a demon, "Oh Titan he looks like he eats smaller Demons…" Luz said softly.
"Hmmm, Witch…" The bruting Oni grumbled as he entered and began to scour the room.
"So wait... Do you mean to tell me that the other beast that's loose, is Fera's pet? Which so happens to be a Bulette? How the heck did 'ole Fera manage to wrangle something like that? Don't the adults get huge?"
Lilith shook her head.
"No clue, your guess on how in the bloody Isles Fera gets any of her Beasts under control are as good as mine, she doesn't usually share her hunting or taming techniques… Just know, that giant sword she carries around with her isn't just for show…"
RING RING
Lilith summoned her scroll, before sighing.
"It's my apprentice…" She said before answering the phone and putting it on speaker, for Eda to listen in.
"Yes? Amity?"
"Hello, Ms. Lilith. Sorry to bother you but we're kinda in a situation with… The Princess and her friends…" Amity said softly.
"I am already aware that you and several others are currently with the Princess…" Lilith said a sigh.
"Well… Are you aware that a Witch Eating Oni is in the Princess's room and stalking for us…? Again, sorry about this."
"Amity, are you seriously apologizing that we're in a life-or-death situation?" Luz asked on the other end.
"Quiet!" Amity could be heard shushing Luz. "Anyway, Miss Clawthorne, please hurry up and get here to help us! I'm already uncomfortable with this Bulette smothering me in this closet!"
Lilith sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Alright… Alright… Just hold out and don't make a sound! Oni's are usually just brutes with limited intelligence. Don't forget the things I've taught you…" She hung up the scroll and turned to her sister.
"Well, you heard my protégé, let's get moving before they get eaten,"
With that, the sisters quickly ran off, faster than before to save these dumb kids from their own mistakes.
-Back upstairs-
Luz peaked out of the closet once again, watching the red-skinned brute as it was currently destroying her entire bedroom, looking for them. His giant feet smashed Luz's previous figures.
"Aw, man... Not the Azura figures..." She said softly with a whine, "Those were limited edition…" She said softly.
Amity suppressed a laugh, clearing her throat with a sigh.
"I just hope that Lilith gets here soon…" She said, also taking a peek at the Oni before hanging back again, just in time for her to be smooshed by the Ferguson.
"Ugh! Get off, you scaly-"
They then heard a growl.
"Witch…"
"Be quiet!"
Luz covered Amity's mouth and pushed the both of them deeper into the closet, hiding amongst the clothes.
The Oni is seen walking up to the closet, easily ripping away the door, right off its hinges. It was surprised, however, by a Bulette jumping out of the closet and pouncing on him with a roar.
Ferguson quickly scaled the beast and started to scratch and bite into him, the Oni is seen stumbling backward across Luz's room.
Willow sees an opportunity. She quickly drew a spell circle, making a stray vine suddenly go taut.
The intention was successful as the Giant tripped and fell backward, making a loud boom as it fell to the ground like a Jenga tower.
Willow gave a laugh of success.
While on the floor, the Oni roared and grabbed Ferguson with both hands, prying the Bulette off his face with a grunt of effort and throwing him across the room, through the broken wall, and into the hallway.
Once again, the Bulette surprised everyone by successfully turning itself in the air and diving straight through the stone floor, leaving a hole behind in its wake.
"Where did…" Luz asked but she could hear, what could only be described as tunneling, in her floor.
"That thing is so cool!" Gus could be heard gushing at how cool Lady Fera's pet was.
Luz, while equally amazed, couldn't help but just think of all the damages that were happening to everything in her room.
"Oh Titan, all my stuff… My room… Dad's going to kill me..." She whispered, running her hands through her hair in a state of slight panic.
The Oni retrieved its club again from the floor and began to look around.
It grunted, lifting his makeshift club high over his head, and pounding it into the stone floor, trying to ascertain where the enemy could've gone. He just repeatedly struck at the floor, having no strategy whatsoever, perhaps its strategy was to give Luz grief.
Suddenly, the head of Ferguson bursts up from the floor, near the Oni's foot before it clamped its strong jaws down on it. Everyone covered their ears as the roar from the Oni was heard across the entire castle.
It rose its club to strike but was held back, it was Vines.
Luz looked and saw that Willow wasn't casting any spells… But... if Willow wasn't doing it...?
Suddenly, the Crow, elite guard, and secret agent of Belos dropped down from the ceiling, their cloak flapping once as she touched down without a sound.
"Let's relax…" Crow said, pointing a finger at the Oni. A green dot appeared at the end of her index before she flicked her finger.
Willows and fresh vines, supplied by Crow, began to wrap around the Oni very quickly. Tying him in place for the moment.
Crow turned to face Luz.
"Princess… Are you alright? Your father sensed that something wasn't right and sent me right back to check in on you… Imagine my surprise to see it was the beach…?" They said, giving a dry laugh. It was hard to tell what they were feeling with that Crow Mask…
Luz's eyes widened.
She had met Crow and their other two members, more personally after the Covention affair. They were wicked powerful together, from what her father had told her… Witches truly deserving of the title of Elite Guard… Luz wondered why her Dad even needed Elite Guard? She's seen him suspend Witches in place with his magic…
She guessed that they were more her mom and herself…
"Crow! Oh, thank Titan you're here, I'm so happy to see you!" Luz said, a feeling of relief washing over her.
There was then a sudden snapping of vines, looking, the Oni was already breaking through them and letting out roars. Ferguson was still biting into his foot.
"Don't start thanking me yet, Princess… Hold on…" Crow said, looking over at the Oni before they wrapped their arms around the pair of girls and jumped away, out of any possible danger and out of the Oni's sight.
Crow carefully placed the girls down in the hallway. Just Eda and Lilith finally ran into the hallway.
Lilith quickly stepped over, looking at a crow with a slight look of disdain before clearing her throat.
"Crow, when did you get here? I believed you to be with the Emperor while he was away?" She asked.
"And I believed that it was your job to Protect the princess while he was away," Crow said as they turned around to face the struggling Oni. "You didn't even notice me on your tail the entire way up here."
"So that's what was in the shadows…" King whispered, still hiding in Eda's hair
Lilith took a deep breath. She was better than to respond to Crow's bickering, quietly wondering just how this "Elite Guard" even outranked her, in Belos's own words, "They are simply more important to the Titans Will". That left an understandably sour taste in her mouth…
"Just… What's the situation here?" She asked with a short sigh.
"2 civilians are still inside the at-risk areas, Lady Fera's pet is biting the now restrained-" A roar is heard as the Oni broke free, "-The now freed Oni…" They said, crossing their arms.
The Oni was seen finally taking its foot back from Ferguson, literally pulling the Bulette out of the ground and kicking him away with an impressive amount of force.
The Bulette yelps as it crashed into the wall, sinking to the floor with a whimper.
Luz looked ready to run in and save him after hearing that, but Crow held their arm out in front of Luz.
"Don't worry about him right now, Princess, it's too dangerous for you to go inside," Crow said, giving the Princess a look. Or were they? That damn mask…
"B- But he saved us earlier and my friends! We need-"
"Princess!" Crow silenced Luz, "You don't know how to fight, especially an Oni, you'll get yourself killed, I'll get them back… Understand?" They asked.
Luz bit her and stepped back, crossing her arms.
"Fine…" She said with a whisper.
"It's fine, kiddo," Eda placed a comforting hand on Luz's shoulder.
"Let him earn his paycheck… Or is that a girl?" Eda asked no one in particular.
"Clawthornes," She said suddenly, "Please make yourselves useful and distract the Oni while I retrieve the civilians… And the Pet… After I get everyone out, find a way to take care of it."
"You can't do it? What happened to being an Elite Guard?" Eda asked with a scoff.
"This fight is not worth my time, get to it," Crow said simply as they jumped into the rafters of Luz's room.
Eda rolled her eyes before stepping into line of sight of the Oni.
"Hey! Horn head! Over here!" She then fired a spell at the Oni that practically bounced off its thick, magic-resistant skin.
Lilith jumped out of cover as well, whistling loudly to ensure its attention was on them. She drew a spell circle, making several broken bricks float and making them float forwards and directly in the line of sight of the Oni, the beast simply struck them down and roared at the annoying sisters.
It didn't take long for chaos to quickly ensue from the sister's persistence.
Crow shook their head.
"If it's chaos you're looking for, a Clawthorne is always good for it…" They said before they landed in the room and stroked their chin before going to the dresser, "I know you're in here, kid," She said, reaching in and pulling Gus out, who had since then dropped his illusions.
"Aw, what? How could you tell?" He asked.
"When you make yourself invisible, it's best to reduce your magic footprint, as well. Otherwise, you're just a beacon to those looking for you. Alright, mini-lesson over!" Crow said, swinging Gus before throwing him up to the ceiling. He gave a yell of surprise as a vine caught him and held him in place.
"Now if I was a scared teenager, where would I hide… Oh, I remember where I'd hide!" Crow went over to the bed and pulled up the entire thing with a single hand. "Classic hiding spot, come on."
Crow was quick to pick her up, tossing her also into the ceiling with Gus.
She then quickly ran over to the pet.
"Who's a good boy?" They asked, summoning a slab of meat for him.
Ferguson panted and looked at the meat before Crow tossed it in the air. His maw snapped around the meat before swallowing it whole. He panted in delight as Crow picked him up easily.
Ferguson affectionately licked their mask.
It actually came loose but they were quick to fix it back into place.
"Oops, too early to reveal any secrets…"
Crow jumped away into the rafters with Ferguson.
She whistled, giving the Clawthornes a thumbs up, the signal to end it.
Lilith was currently holding a forcefield around her and Eda. She turned to her sister.
"Any ideas, sister?" Lilith asked, "Its skin is resistant to any spell we may cast, and any spell we have that can damage it will only hurt those around us as well as ourselves."
The Owl Lady could be seen thinking hard before her eyes landed on the Oni's horn.
She snapped her fingers, an idea forming.
"I think I got one." She pointed, "See his horn? I heard that an Oni's horn is stupid sensitive and with a bit of trauma, it can disorient them… I wonder what'll happen when we hit him with one of these?" Eda asked, forming a glowing orb of magical power. Lilith almost instantly recognized the idea she had in mind.
"Are you serious?" Lilith asked, "That one?"
"What?" Eda asked, "You don't remember how to do our most famous Grudgby play anymore?"
Lilith scoffed, "How could I forget, of course, I remember… I just never thought that I'd be doing it again with you."
Eda simply smirked as she got into position.
"Then get ready, captain," She said with a laugh.
Lilith smiled at Eda, also getting into position.
Luz and Amity poked their heads around the corner, wondering what their mentors were planning… It must've been powerful…
"I'm always ready, star player..." She said softly, "When the shield breaks... In 3..."
The Oni then smashed against the shield, cracks beginning to form.
"2..." Eda whispered.
The shield then shattered, and Lilith dodged the Oni's attack, jumping behind it.
"1!" Lilith shouted.
As the Giant Oni attempted to figure out what was happening, Eda jumped high into the air and tossed the ball of magic into the air.
She twisted mid-air and kicked the ball towards Lilith at intense speeds.
"YING-" Eda shouted.
Lilith, seeing that the ball of destructive yellow magic was fast approaching, began to apply massive amounts of her signature blue flaming magic to her leg.
Portions of her restrictive dress burned and ripped away as she spun and kicked the ball of magic, imbuing as much of her magic as possible into the ball. The ball went flying into the air, above the paralyzed Oni.
"YANG-" Lilith shouted.
The blue and yellow magic began to also spin in tandem with each other, effectively forming a blue and yellow Ying-Yang effect.
Suddenly both sisters were back-to-back, in the direct path of the mixed magic orb.
In perfect unison, they lifted their legs.
"KICK!" They shouted at the same time before kicking the magic Ying-Yang ball in the direct path of the Oni. The ball spun at untold High speeds, making its mark against the Oni's horn. An explosion ensued and a flash of light as well.
Once it died down, they saw that an entire half of the Oni's face was missing, as well as its horn. The Oni dropped its club, falling to its knees before falling back, now unmoving.
The sisters carefully touched down on the ground.
Lilith winced at the sight of half of its face being missing.
"May have overdone it there, huh sister...?" She asked.
Eda simply gave a hearty laugh, wrapping an arm around Lilith.
"That's what you get when you mess with the star player AND the team captain!" She gloated to the fallen Beast. "Oh, it felt great to use the "Ying-Yang Kick" after so long, huh, Lily? Admit it, you messed it!" She said, nudging Lilith playfully.
Luz rushed into the room with stars in her eyes from the skill and synchronization that was displayed. Crow could also be seen jumping down from the rafters of Luz's room, carrying Gus and Willow and even Ferguson.
Crow allowed them to climb off of their arms. They stretched, mumbling something about getting a bite to eat at their favorite restaurant. Crow took a few steps forward and turned into a cloud of flower petals as she did so. Willow quickly went to catch a few petals, amazed by the sight.
"You guys were so cool!" Luz said, suddenly coming up to Eda and shaking her, "You got to teach me that!"
Eda laughed and stabilized herself, placing a comforting hand on Luz's head, patting her head.
"Of course I'll teach you the move kiddo, all in due time, Who knows, maybe you'll actually use it one day…" She said with a smile.
Luz then looked around her absolutely trashed room before spotting an item in the mess. She rushed over and dug said item out of the rubble before pulling out the miraculously unscathed copy of the 5th Volume of Azura.
Luz then went over to the quiet Amity, who was talking with Lilith.
"Hey…" Luz got her attention, "I'm… Sorry, this isn't exactly what I was hoping for when I invited you over for a moonlight conjuring," She said to Amity, handing her the book, "I probably shouldn't have pushed you and Willow so far, either… And I'm sorry for getting mad at you guys when my plans blew up in my face and-"
"Luz," Amity interrupted her quickly forming rant, "It's… It's ok, I did mean those things I said to Willow, back there… It was worth all the pushing to mend those old wounds." She said, looking over at Willow before back at Luz.
"I guess I'm trying to say, Princess-" She paused, taking a deep breath, "Luz, I mean… What I'm trying to say is thank you… For everything tonight, and besides being in imminent danger for most of the night… This has got to be the most fun I've ever had at a Conjuring…" She said softly, pushing a strand of her minty hair behind her ear and looking away, a slight smile about her.
"And… Thanks for saving my life again… That was really brave of you…" She said with a blush.
Luz blushed as well, smiling widely, and scratching her neck nervously.
"I- It wasn't a big deal…" She said, "I would've done it for any of my friends, after all…"
Amity's blush suddenly quickly died down as she cleared her throat.
"Y- Yes… Friends… Nothing more, of course…" She said in a firmer tone than normal.
Before Luz could question her on it, there was a slight rumble before the sound of Boiling water was heard sloshing around.
Luz took a peek outside the castle and her eyes widened.
"We are in the sea!" Grab's closet hands, "Let's turn around before the castle drowns!" She said urgently.
The group was quick to join hands with each other, with Luz leading the thought, the castle came to a still stop. It turned around before the castle itself entered deeper waters. The siege-proof castle slowly turned and began walking once again. This time, to its original spot.
Luz then looked at her mentors with a nervous smile.
"You both wouldn't know how to stop a moonlight conjuring spell?" She asked.
"That's easy kid, the spell loses all effect at the end of the night, so you'd just need to wait till then. Why do you ask?" Eda asked.
Luz laughed, poking her fingers together and not meeting their gaze.
"I mean… What if I hypothetically animated the castle in a fit of anger?" She asked quietly.
"Princess… Are you telling me that the reason the impenetrable castle, built against wild witches, and undamaged for nearly 50 years, was almost destroyed/drowned because you got mad?" Lilith asked.
"…Yes…"
Eda gave a hearty laugh, patting Luz's back.
"That's my girl! You're definitely in trouble with your old man, however, that's for sure but good job!" She said.
Luz gave a small smile before a few stone bricks fell from the ceiling, finally destroying her bed that was being abused all night… Rest in Pillows…
"Lilith..." Luz began, "What do you think are the damages? Of the castle…"
Lilith looked around the room.
"Honestly, Princess, every room in the castle probably looks just as bad as yours…" She said softly, "Lord Drew of the construction coven won't like hearing about this one…"
Luz groaned and sunk to the floor.
"Oh man, my parents are going to kill all the way dead…" Luz said, the image of Camila wielding a chancla came to mind. Ferguson, sensing her discomfort, ran up to her and licked her face. Luz smiled and scratched him under his scales as a thank you.
Willow then stepped over and patted Luz's shoulder.
"You'll be fine, Luz, I'm sure you'll survive. You're pretty durable, right Amity?" She said.
Amity nodded in agreement, crossing her arms.
"Knowing Luz, she'd probably be able to just shrug it off. She did recover from punching a Bulette and breaking her wrist… How's your wrist, by the way?"
Luz flexed her hand and wrist.
"It was actually my entire hand too…" She said, before standing up and beginning to pace the room, stopping in front of the corpse of the Oni.
"I really ought to figure out why my healing is this good…" She said, staring at her hand. The thorns hadn't even left behind a scar. The scars from the Owl Beast incident were also gone too.
There was a sudden growl noise, everyone's eyes widened in shock as the Oni, with half of its face gone and a horn missing, was still alive and looked rather angry.
"Kid! Get down!" Eda shouted, drawing a spell circle but it was a second too late as the Oni reached out to grab Luz. She was shocked, paralyzed in fear at the fact that the monster was still alive after all it went through, she couldn't move.
"Luz!" Several people shouted, reaching out to grab her but it was only Amity who acted faster than the rest, her body moving before she minds could think.
Luz felt herself being shoved to the side and out of the way of the Oni's hand, looking, she saw that it was Amity who had pushed her out of the way. Her eyes widened as she reached out for Amity, but she was already too far away. Way too far away, Amity really had pushed her hard.
She swore that she saw a glint of glowing purple magic in her eyes…
"NO! Amity!" Luz screamed as the Oni wrapped its large hand around the young Blight, lifting her.
Amity screamed, in shock mostly, but mainly because the Oni had a rather tight hold on her.
'Why… in Titan's name did I do that…?' She thought to herself as she clenched her teeth in slight pain.
"Don't worry kid, I'll save ya!" Eda was quick to draw a spell circle.
"Edalyn, no!" Lilith shouted, slapping Eda's upwards, misdirecting the spell upwards, destroying more parts of the ceiling, "You'll just hit the girl too!"
"Well, what do we want us to do then?!" Eda shouted at Lilith.
"I… I don't know!" Lilith said as they watched the Oni looking angry.
The Oni looked at the struggling Amity in his hold. He looked like he would die any second now and Amity hoped it would be soon.
"Hungry… for Witch…" He growled, gnashing his jagged teeth at Amity.
Everyone felt their blood run cold at the Beast's words.
Luz got to her feet, pulling herself out of her shock. She felt her fist ball into a tight fist and her teeth clench. She ran forward, legs sparking with golden magic as she jumped towards Amity, easily clearing the distance, and reaching out for her, eyes glowing golden once again.
"Amity grab my—!"
The Oni pulled the Blight away from her reach and to Luz's shock, swings a large red fist at her. She couldn't react in time.
The large red fist connected with her chest, knocking any amount of air out of her body, and forcing her golden eyes back to normal from the shock, and sending her flying back and slamming into a wall before she fell forward.
Luz gasped, feeling an intense amount of pain coursing through her, she had to guess that her entire ribcage was broken from the force alone. She coughed up some blood before shakily going onto her hands and knees, standing up with a stumble.
Her vision was blurry, about to fall over if it wasn't for Willow and Gus running to her side, holding her up.
"Luz! Are you OK?" Willow asked but Luz was too focused on helping Amity.
She reached out for Amity, trying to move forward.
"N- Need… To help… He… ca…" She coughed more blood and groaning, she wasn't even making sense anymore, this pain was unbearable. It was also the fact that she could feel her bones snapping back into place that didn't help Luz either. They could only watch in horror.
The Oni growled as he lifted Amity. "Hungry..." It said, about to take a bite out of Amity, before suddenly…
The glass of the window next to Luz suddenly shattered inwards as there was an intense war cry heard throughout the entire room as a fiery red-headed woman flew into the room.
It happened so fast to keep track of. The sound of a sword being drawn, the glint of a blade, and finally, the arm holding Amity falling to the floor with a thud, followed by an intense roar of pain from the Oni.
Luz's eyes widened as she looked at the woman who broke through the window.
She was tall and a rather large woman, but it was mostly muscle, with wild curly orange hair and pale skin. She wore unorthodox clothing, for the Isles anyways. A red flannel skirt and a black corset and green bracers. A beautiful woman to anyone with half a brain.
"Lady Fera!" Luz shouted in surprise, and with a huge smile.
"Sorry that I'm late, Princess, I was holding a hunt for a wild Ogre… He had been terrorizing a few villages across the lower parts of the Titan and needed to be taken care of… Although, I believe that I've arrived just in time…" She said as she wiped the enraged Oni's blood off her long Celtic sword.
Luz couldn't help but notice that she had a Scottish accent… Odd, seeing as her father had a slight British accent… She would investigate later…
"We're just glad you're here…" Luz said softly, sighing and leaning into her friend's arms.
She nodded, before looking to her left.
"Can you walk, lass?" Fera asked, facing Amity, who was prying herself out of the severed hands hold.
"Y- yes, Ma'am…" She said quietly, standing.
"Good, get behind me then… Oni's don't usually know when to quit… Ferguson will protect yah," Fera said, taking a stance.
Ferguson then jumped through the stone floor, leading Amity back towards Luz, Willow, and Gus.
The Oni got over the fact that its arm was gone, before roaring at the Coven Head, remembering who had captured him in the first place. The beast charged at Fera.
Fera took a deep breath as she tightened her hold on her handle. She closed her eyes and adjusted her stance. The Oni was upon her, only mere seconds and she would be crushed by the Oni but that wasn't going to happen.
Lady Fera's form blinked out of existence, confusing the Ogre and the people in the room.
All of sudden, Lady Fera appeared behind the Beast, raising her sword before swinging in a perfect line, glowing orange magic following the path of the sword. The cut was clean and precise, his head spinning off its shoulders without a problem. Fera was quick to catch the Oni's decapitated head by its one good horn.
She landed back on her feet just as the Oni's body fell backward with a thud.
Fera gave a booming laugh, swinging her blade, making the blood fly off it before she sheathed her sword.
"Not even a challenge!" She said before holding up the head, "I guess I can still stuff and mount its head to my wall…" She then looked at the shocked Clawthorne sisters, King included, "You lot alright?" She asked. They could only nod as a yes.
Ferguson then pounced into Lady Fera's arms, licking at her face like a dog who was missing from its owner.
"Ferguson! I missed you! Sorry to have sent yah here with the rest of the beast! You always get too excited on hunts!" She said, drawing an orange spell circle to summon a slab of meat, tossing it into the air. Ferguson's strong jaws once caught it, biting it, and swallowing it in one bite, "Good boy…" She said softly, scratching him under his scales.
Luz couldn't believe how easily Fera was able to dispatch the powerful beast in two swipes of her sword… It was amazing… It was impressive… It was humiliating…
She then remembered…
"Amity!" Luz said, hissing in pain as she felt her chest, felt like it was burning slightly. Titan, the healing ribcage hurt worse than the Abyss… but she ignored it, stepping up to Amity.
"Luz, how are you still moving? Sit down, you were just punched in the chest by an Oni!" Willow said in worry, helping her stand but Luz pulled away from her and Gus's hands and placing her hands on Amity's shoulders.
"Amity, I'm… I'm so sorry, I- I should've been... I should've been faster... Stronger…" Luz apologized, looking at her hands, staring at her palms.
"You could've died… What's the point of being this strong if I can't even protect my friends right…?" She said clenching her fist tightly, a small feeling of anger building in her chest, at herself mostly.
"Luz, look at me…" Amity placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, Luz looked up at her, "Earlier, you jumped out of the window without thinking, just to save me from falling. And just now, you tanked a punch from the Oni trying to get to me. You didn't even have a plan in mind, you just wanted to save me, the same Witch who tried to seal your magic away for some petty reasons…" Thinking about that made Amity cringe at herself.
"You're an exceptional Princess who does anything for her subjects and an amazing friend who'd do anything for those around her, you're already brave and strong, understand?" She asked, giving Luz a reassuring smile.
Luz couldn't help but feel herself getting lost in her smile, it was a very sweet smile that made her feel warm and safe… And the golden orbs of her eyes that told her that all her words were true too…
Luz found her heart beating faster and herself blushing before she looked away from Amity.
"Y- Yeah, I got it… Thanks, Amity…" She said softly.
Lady Fera cleared her throat, getting the girl's attention.
"Princess, if I may speak?"
Amity released Luz as she turned to face the Coven Head.
"You don't need to ask permission to speak, Lady Fera. I'm pretty sure you outrank me…"
Fera laughed, placing a hand on Ferguson.
"I assure, that I do not, but anyway, I wanted to commend for your strength, Princess," She said, surprising Luz, "You're rather durable, taking an Oni's punch straight to the chest and just walking it off moments later? Unheard of. I could only dream of pulling off such a feat. You'll be a fine Empress that I'll gladly follow into battle if the need should ever arise."
Luz smiled, sighing softly.
"Thank you, Lady Fera, I appreciate that… But I don't even know how… To fight…" She suddenly gasped, a perfect idea forming in her mind.
"Lady Fera!"
Fera was caught off guard by the Princess's sudden burst of energy, wasn't she in intense pain moments ago?
"Y- Yes Princess?" She asked.
Luz cleared her throat before speaking.
"As Princess of the Boiling Isles, I humbly request that you train me how to use a sword as finely as yourself." She said in a formal tone, giving the Coven Head a curveball.
Fera was simply blanking at the request.
"Train… Train you? I… Don't know if that's even possible, Princess… Your father surely wouldn't approve…" She said, stroking her chin in thought.
Luz's formal tone quickly broke apart.
"Please, Lady Fera!" Luz begged, clasping her hands together in a pleading manner, "I've heard my father describe you as the best fighter on the Isles next only to Kikimora!" She said. "You just have to train me how to fight and stuff!"
Fera was certainly surprised to hear that the Emperor held her in such high regards. Compliments from Belos were practically unheard of… But to hear that he considered her a close second to Kikimora was also ego-boosting…
"-And I saw you using that sword!" Luz continued, "The Oni was dead before it hit the stone! Pleaaaaase train me!" She pleaded some more.
"Luz, you're supposed to be the Princess, stop begging," Willow said with a giggle.
The Coven Head looked conflicted, never actually having had a student of her own before... Well, students that lasted for long anyways…
They'd either give up because they couldn't handle it, or they'd make a fatal mistake they regretted…
"Well…" She turned to face the Clawthornes, specifically Eda, "You're the lass's mentor, right?" She asked, "Do you believe that she could handle it?"
Eda stroked her chin.
"Well, I don't think I've ever seen the Princess back down from a challenge if I'm being honest with you… And she's always willing to learn more from those around her, no matter what… And besides, who's heard of an Emperor who couldn't use a sword? So yeah, teach the Princess some moves." She said, crossing her arms.
Lilith was seen nodding in agreement.
"Agreed, the Princess could definitely benefit from weapons training and fighting skills, Titan knows that Kikimora is far too busy to teach her." She added.
Fera laughed as she looked down at Luz, placing a hand on her head and ruffling the young Princess's hair.
"It's decided then, I'll not only teach you all I know about fighting but also make you the best fighter on the Isles! We'll even Kikimora herself a run for her snails!"
Luz smiled widely and pumped her fists into the air.
"Yes!" She shouted with a laugh, before suddenly hugging Amity, swinging her around, "Ames, I promise I'll never let anything like that happen to you again! I'll get stronger and protect everyone and you! I swear, As your developing best friend and Princess of the Isles!"
Amity could only blush at the sudden contact and smile, giving Luz soft laughs.
"I believe you…" She said softly.
Willow and Gus suddenly attacked, jumping into the now-formed group hug.
Eventually, the castle had once again found its place at the center of a spiked moat.
Finally, the pinkish-purple sun's morning light could be seen peeking over the horizon and shining on a still intact Bonesborough.
Just as Eda Said, the Conjuring had lost its effect on the castle and effectively dropped itself back into place In the middle of the spiked moat. The drop was sudden and very much unpleasant. If things inside the castle weren't broken, that drop surely broke them then.
What was worse was that Kikimora had reported to Luz that the Emperor would be returning early from his trip away. When asked why Kikimora could only say "He sensed something was wrong".
Now that could mean a lot of things.
However, it was pretty obvious what that thing was…
Luz was currently looking upon the throne room, having needed to put her fathers' throne back in place, as the castle's justling had knocked it out of place.
"At least Lilith was able to protect the Coven Relics before something happened to them... Mom and Dad should be getting here any minute now..." She said with a sigh, "I'm in so much trouble…"
"You'll be fine, Luz," Willow said with a laugh.
"Yeah! I'm sure your parents will understand what happened!" Gus said with a wide smile, yawning and stretching. "Titan, how are you guys still standing?"
"Too excited to sleep… Well, except Amity over there," Willow pointed at Amity, who had passed out leaning against her fist. The minute the conjuring had stopped, and she could release her friends' hands, she passed out. She was sitting in Emperor Belos' throne no less.
The trio laughed as Luz pulled out her phone.
"I got an idea…" Luz said with a low laugh.
-Elsewhere-
"Relax mi amor, and tell me again, you're sure that is what you felt? The same magic?" Camila asked, placing a comforting hand on Belos's knee.
Currently, Belos seemed nervous if that was even possible. His foot was bouncing rapidly, while his hands fidgeted with his technological staff. Like many things, it was a gift from the Titan, the idea for it anyway.
"I am sure, Camila, my love…" He whispered, sending away his staff, "This is the same power that nearly killed me all those years ago… I know it is… I could never forget the feeling…" He said, running a hand through the scar running down his face.
"But you yourself said that Ri Imperator died before your eyes, even congratulated you for winning their fight," Camila reminded him, placing a hand on his shoulder, "That fight ended, long ago, you know this…"
"Yes, but you don't understand, Camila…" He turned to face her, "When I fought the Demon King, he took his last breath, and I could've sworn I saw a wisp of dark smoke leave his body… Maybe he never truly died, what if, he's still alive and still a threat to the Isles? To our daughter?"
"Alexander," Camila placed her hands on his cheeks, rubbing them with her thumbs, "You may be old, but your memory doesn't fail you, does it?" She asked.
"I am not old, I just age extremely slowly," Belos said with a scoff, "These last 40 years have probably felt like 10 years to me at max…"
Camila rolled her eyes.
"Well, do you remember what I told you in private, the day I returned to the Isles?" She asked.
Belos thought on it for a moment.
"You vowed to stay by my side from then on…"
"Exactly, mi amor," She leaned up and gave him a soft kiss, "Even if Ri Imperator were somehow still alive, he couldn't beat you before, and he won't now. Besides, you have entire Council of Coven Heads, I'm sure you can put down a dog two times in a row…" She said softly with a giggle, pressing her forehead against his, "Me and Luz believe in you…"
Only Camila could make him feel warm and make his heart race.
"Camila, I-" The carriage suddenly halted to a stop. He sighed. "Driver, why have we stopped?" He asked.
"I- uh, sir... I uhm... I don't know how to say this... May I suggest staying the rest of the weekend away from the castle, as originally planned?" He asked, he sounded nervous, "You won't regret it, I swear…"
"And… Why is that…?" Belos asked, raising an eyebrow as he placed his mask back on.
The driver was silent for a moment before he answered Belos.
"You may want to take a look for yourself, Emperor..."
Belos shared a look with Camila before they both climbed out of the carriage, Belos helping her out like a gentleman.
Looking, they both saw his castle, siege proof and undamaged for nearly his entire time as Emperor, was practically in ruins. It looked as if a giant battle was fought here, or maybe that it was attacked in the middle of the night, even the giant chimney in the center was destroyed and even some walls were falling off.
The entire bridge was gone as well as several towers missing.
The parents were left speechless at the sight of it all.
"I… Cannot believe it…" Belos whispered in shock, mixed with amazement and slight anger, "Who… Could've done this…?" He whispered before lifting his hand.
"Lilith! Come forth!" He shouted, hoping that she wasn't a casualty of whatever has happened here in his absence…
His voice seemed to echo throughout the entire castle, no one but Lilith heard it. Within a blink of the eye, she was in front of Belos after a puff of blue flames, she bowed respectfully.
"E- Emperor Belos! How was your trip?" She attempted but knew it was a lost cause.
"It was great until I came home to this… Mess… But what I want to know is. What is Titan's name has happened to my siege proof, stone castle…" He said in a lowly tone.
"And," Camila stepped forward, "Where is our daughter? Is she safe?"
Lilith took a deep breath.
"The Princess is safe in the Throne room, and It wasn't an attack on the Castle, we confirmed that pretty soon… It was… A witch…" She hesitated.
"Who… Was the Witch?" He asked again, "And do NOT hesitate with me again with me, Lilith." He said, eyes glowing blue in anger.
Lilith sighed.
"It was the Princess, who did this… She had invited some close friends, by the names, Amity Blight, Augustus Porter, and Willow Park to the Castle," She began to explain, "At one point in the night, the Princess had used much more magic than what was necessary for the Conjuring spell... Which led to her animating the entire castle to life, rampaging for a good part of the night… And Lady Fera's beast's were set loose in the chaos of it all as well, but were quickly exterminated by Kikimora… She wasn't happy to hear the news of their death…"
"Are you telling me… That my daughter was responsible for this and that she animated the entire castle?" He pauses a bit, "For some reason, I can't help but feel proud…"
Camila had an amused look about her, crossing her arms.
"Alexander," She said firmly, "Castle. Destroyed. Don't forget, daughter is in a super amount of trouble."
"Right, right," He turned to Lilith, "Contact the Construction Coven, tell them we are need of major repair and renovation."
Lilith nodded.
"Lord Drew is already coming in from the Right Leg sir," She rose from her bowing position, taking a look at the destroyed bridge, "Explaining the situation, he says that it's going to be mighty expensive…"
Belos rolled his eyes, he honestly should've expected as much from the Coven Head. He was a master builder and a man of few words and the words he did speak usually spoke of a price.
"Of course he did, tell him that he'll have several platinum snails waiting for him for his work, plus a pouch of golden snails as a tip if the repairs are beyond expectations."
"Understood, I'll get right to it," She said before taking a few steps and disappearing in a puff of blue flames.
Camila sighed as she stepped up to and next to her husband.
"Oh Luz…" She said, "What are we going to do with her, I swear she's too powerful for her own good…"
"Agreed, it seems that her abilities have grown far stronger than any of us could've expected. On the plus side, at least the castle gets to be renovated as you and Luz wanted…" He said with a soft chuckle.
Belos summoned his staff to his hands, and they were soon covered in a red glow that easily floated them over the moat of spikes and to the front gates of the castle.
Camila chuckled as well, leaning against him as they floated over the destroyed bridge.
"Yes, that would be nice… Maybe we can make the castle more inviting? Maybe get rid of the spike moat? I'm pretty surer people aren't trying to siege the castle these days anymore."
Belos gave a hum in thought.
"Perhaps a water-filled moat instead?" He suggested as they entered through the ruined gates of the castle.
"I was thinking no moat, mi amor," She said with an eye roll, "It's useless nowadays, especially when everyone can use spells to teleport across it and if they have a staff, fly over." She pointed out.
"Not unless we enchant it and have a Sea Serpent patrolling from within," He shot back as they walked through the halls of the castle, taking in all the damages as they walked by.
Camila shook her head and sighed.
"Men and their moats..." She joked as they finally entered the throne room, seeing Luz and her friends taking pictures with Amity, who was sleeping on Belos' throne.
"She's sleeping on your throne..." She whispered to him.
Belos crossed his arms, shaking his head.
"I see… Let's give them a few minutes before they notice us…"
Luz was currently taking a picture of Willow posing next to Amity, making faces with the slumbering Blight. They were all giggling. Luz swiped through the many images she took on her phone.
"This is definitely going into the scrapbook…" She said softly, before looking up at Willow and Gus, who now had a scared expression about them.
"What's wrong guys?" She asked.
Willow simply pointed at something behind Luz.
Luz suddenly felt a presence she hadn't felt before… One that she felt every time she had done something bad or broken something back on Earth. She felt the color drain from her face as she began to sweat nervously.
"Oh no…" She whispered as she slowly turned around to see the neutral expression of her father's mask and the furious face of her mother.
"Amity! Wake up!" Willow said urgently, shaking the Blight awake.
"Hmm? What do you want Willow? I'm tired and-" Looking around, her eyes landed on the Emperor.
She quickly realized where she was sitting and stood quickly, moving away from the table. She felt very much awake now.
All three friends now stood behind Luz, in a perfect and still line.
Luz was still silent, she took a breath and stepped forward.
"I swear, I can explain everything…" She said as a stone brick and several pipes fell from the ceiling, not helping her case at all.
Belos crossed his arms.
"Please do. We're dying to hear about your… Quite eventful night, it would seem…"
Before Luz could explain, Camila stepped in front of their daughter.
"Te dije, cuando me fui de la casa, que yo no quieria problemas con la casa, Mija…" She said, crossing her arms.
"Si mama…" Luz said softly, tugging at her shirt and looking down at her feet.
"Entonces, ¿por qué vuelvo a un casa, que's ROTO in every knock and cranny on the way in here, Mija!?" Camila asked, pinching Luz's cheek and pulling it roughly, "¿Tengo que volver a usar las chanclas contigo otravues?" She asked with an untold fire in her eyes.
Luz hissed in pain at Camila's pulling.
"Mami, por favor!" Luz said with a yelp of pain.
The Oni may have been a less painful thing to fight than her mother.
Luz successfully pulled herself away from her mother, rubbing her cheek in pain as she began to explain the entire situation that led to the destroyed castle in the first place.
"And that's how we got the castle back in place and why Lady Fera's now training me how to fight…" She finished her story, even explaining how Willow and Gus figured out that she was the Princess.
Belos gave a thoughtful hum.
"While I commend you on asking Fera to teach you hand-to-hand combat and weapons training, there is still the case on your… Punishment, young lady…" The words felt very foreign to him. This was the first time that he was punishing his daughter, after all. Usually, with Wild Witches or criminals, he'd just send them to the petrification machine…
"Until the repairs and renovations are complete, you are to assist the Construction Coven with said repairs, without revealing your identity as Princess. Your cover will be an Apprentice to Lilith looking for extra credit for Glandus High." He said firmly, "I believe the term, "cleaning up one's mess", comes to mind, wouldn't you say, my Empress?" He asked.
Camila nodded, crossing her arms.
"Eso es correcto, My Emperor…" She said before turning to Luz, "And one more thing, dear," She said, placing a hand on Luz's shoulder, giving that patented mom death grip.
"You're not allowed to leave the castle, see the Owl Lady, or hang out with any of your friends until everything is fixed, entiendes?"
"Maaaaan… This sucks…" Luz said, pouting.
Camila felt an eye twitch as she tightened her hold on Luz's shoulder.
"What was that cariño?" She asked in a tone that said, "I dare you to say it again".
Luz pursed her lips before giving a wide smile.
"I mean, Sí, señora! I'll fix everything!" She said, saluting at her mother.
Camila smiled, releasing Luz's shoulder.
"That's what I thought," She then turned to Belos, "Let's go see what we can salvage from our room, mi amor." She said.
"In a second, my dear," Belos then turned to face the three friends, "Augustus Porter, Willow Park, And Amity Blight. Step forward, please…"
The three felt a pit of fear in their chests as they did so, silently wondering how he knew their names…
"My daughter seems to speak very highly of you three, especially the young Blight here. I'm happy to see you getting past your childish behaviors and are on better terms," He said to Amity, "And as such, you all are welcome here anytime at the behest of my daughter, of course… But let me make one thing clear…"
He then leaned forward, very close to the fearful teens… Plus Gus…
"My daughter is very precious to me, understand? So do anything to upset her in any way and I won't show mercy to you or your families... Are we clear?" He said, eyes glowing blue threateningly.
"Yes, Emperor!" They all said in unison, sweating in fear from his presence alone.
Luz felt flushed with embarrassment.
"Dad! Please stop threatening my friends!"
Belo chuckled.
"All in good fun, my Little Light…" He turned away from the friends, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to assist my wife…" With that, he and Camila disappeared up a flight of stairs.
Luz turned to friends, who all looked relieved to not be smited by the Emperor.
"Sorry about that guy's..." She apologized with a chuckle.
Willow laughed as well.
"It's fine, Luz, it's so weird to think you're his daughter… You're so sweet and he looks like he levels towns for not listening to him…"
"I'm surprised sometimes too, but he's really sweet under all those layers, robes, and mask…" She then yawned, "Man I'm tired… Do you guys need rides home? You must be tired after using magic all night…"
Amity shrugged, stretching with a shared yawn.
"I guess I can use one. I was going to ask Lilith, but she seems... Busy at the moment…" She pointed to the side.
Everyone looked over and saw Lilith dealing with a set of Coven Guards.
"Ms. Lilith, it wasn't our fault we got lost!" The first guard said.
"Yeah, that sign confused us!" The second said.
"Quiet you!" The first guard then bonks the second on the head, before a third joined in on the shenanigans and it just devolved into a fight.
Lilith sighed, rubbing her eyes in aggravation.
"Titan below..." She groaned, "It's a mystery how you three got admitted into the Emperor's Coven..." She said to herself before shouting at the Stooges to get back to work. They scrambled to move but just ended up bumping into each other like idiots.
Eda, who was still here, was laughing her seat off at the sight.
"The entire night, these three are a riot!" Eda said with a snicker and laugh, wiping away a tear.
"Eda!" King shouted with a yawn, "Take me home! I'm hungry…! And tired…" He shouted, with an even louder yawn.
"Oh fine," She got onto her staff, crossing her legs as she picked up King, she then waved at Luz, "Bye kid! Have fun cleaning up after yourself!" She said before she zoomed out of the castle through a hole in the wall.
Luz laughed as she turned back towards her three friends.
"Alright, let's get you guys out of here and back home..."
Luz then held out her hand to Amity.
"To the Luxury Carriage, my good lady?" She asked with a giggle, speaking like a gentleman in Victorian England.
Amity smiled softly, her cheeks turning increasingly rosy at the very unintentional romantic gesture.
"S-Sure, Luz, let's go…" She said softly, quickly walking past Luz to hide her red cheeks.
Luz rose an eyebrow in confusion before following after her, Willow and Gus on their tail seconds later.
-Later, in the carriage-
"Again, sorry for the crazy, life-threatening night guys,"
"Luz, we said we were fine like seven times already!" Willow said with a laugh.
"If anything, this first Moonlight Conjuring was amazing," Gus said, scrolling through the pictures of the night he took, "Too bad we can't show anybody at the risk of being petrified by the Emperor…"
Amity rolled her eyes at Luz's seventh apology of the carriage trip.
"Really, Luz, it's fine. After all, it's not like you knew that was going to happen..." She then smiled, "I will say it was a lot more interesting than most of the Conjuring's I've been to... Most are just gossip and nothing happens."
"Well… Glad you enjoyed it then, I guess… I'm really happy you decided to come along... Soooo does this mean we're even now? From you helping me in that Illusion spell?" Luz asked Amity.
Amity rolled her eyes before shaking her head with a smile.
"Hmm nope. We were made even when you saved me from falling. And then it was made uneven again when I pushed you out of the way of the Oni… Couldn't let the Princess of the Isles be eaten by a common beast… The Blight name would've tarnished," She said with a smug smile, very reminiscent of her siblings, "So as far as I'm concerned, you still owe me…"
Luz gave raspberry as she leaned back into her seat.
"I'll never pay you back at this rate…" She said, crossing her arms with a huff.
Willow and Gus both laughed at that, as Gus pulled out a parchment and quill.
"I just remembered! I can finally cross this off my bucket list, and hopefully, next, I can get said bucket!"
Luz smiled, leaning over to look at the list.
"Glad that it met all your expectations, bud," She said with a chuckle, before noticing an entry on the list, "Baby fangs?" She asked, sounding confused.
Gus nodded proudly.
"Yup! They're the baby teeth witches have before the new ones set in!" Gus then showed Luz his mouth, using his index finger to touch what looked similar to a human-canine tooth, seeing it wiggle slightly. "These fall out and we get wicked sharp fangs!"
Luz raised an eyebrow before she experimentally opened her mouth and reached up to touch one of her own. She had lost all her baby teeth a long time ago so... her canine then wiggled, ever so slightly as well. Her eyes widened in shock before it turned to amazement.
"I'M GONNA GET FANGS?" She shouted, stars in her eyes.
Willow then pulled out her book, flipping a few pages on the F section.
"Well, it may actually be different for you, Luz." She said, reading a section of her book on fangs, "Rumor has it that Belos has a rare set of fangs, a pair above and below... Vampire Fangs, you may get those if you're lucky. They've only ever been seen on really powerful witches though, like Azura from the legends," She explained, closing her encyclopedia, and realigning her glasses.
Luz had her eyes full of stars at all the possibilities… All the possible cosplays too that could do…
"This… is so cool!" She said, shaking Gus widely.
Willow then turned to Amity.
"How about you, Amity? Get your fangs, yet? Sorry to ask." She said.
"Why do you apologize?" Luz asked, curious.
"It's fine, Willow," Amity then turned to Luz, "Fangs are considered a private thing for most people and couples on the Isles and actually…" She opened her mouth and sure enough, two pointy and wonderful fangs were seen.
"Woah!" Luz said as she scooched closer to Amity and inspected them, "So cool…" She whispered, in amazement, "How do you kiss people with those?" She asked innocently.
Amity blushed brightly at the question, slamming her mouth shut.
Willow and Gus began to giggle together before they both fell into full-on laughter.
"L- Luz!" Willow said in between laughs, "You can't just ask people that!" She said, beginning to wheezing at how red Amity's face had become from the embarrassing question.
Luz was just confused, thinking that it didn't mean anything.
"What!? It's a genuine question! Those look like it'd give you a wicked tongue piercing if you're not paying attention... They're very sharp and nice, too!" Unconsciously flirting with Amity through her fangs.
Amity's ears at this point began to flap wildly at the compliments and Luz's lack of Boiling Isles social graces. She quickly slapped her hands over her ears, holding them very still and in place, hoping that Luz didn't see or she'll-
"Woah! What does that mean?" Luz asked, even more amazement, she reached out and poked Amity's ears, seeing that they were rather red, and still trying to flap.
"I've never seen a Witches Ears do that! It's so cute!" She gushed softly with a smile.
Amity's entire form was flushed red at this point, forgetting to breathe until finally, she passed out in her seat in the carriage.
"…Amity…?" She asked, lightly shaking the girl. "Amity, stop playing…" Luz said.
No response.
"AMITY!?" She asked again.
While Luz ascertained the Crisis, Willow was dying of laughter while Gus sneakily recorded the entire thing.
Willow and Gus would later explain to Luz that fangs weren't a thing Witches used anymore to show dominance or power anymore but rather they've become tied to personal and romantic relationships.
Luz blushed in embarrassment at the realization that she was unintentionally flirting with the Blight…
She was silently grateful that Amity passed out from the embarrassment…
~Later~
Willow and Gus have been successfully dropped off, now it was Amity's turn.
The carriage pulled up to Blight Manor.
"Hup!" Luz Jumped out of the carriage, holding an unconscious Amity in her arms. It was easier than it should've been if she was being honest. She was so light; it was basically like carrying a feather!
Luz decided to let her sleep, she did need it after all… And she wasn't ready to face Amity after saying all that stuff in the carriage earlier.
She went up to the front gates, looking for any way to open them but found none, looking, she did find a doorbell. She pressed it with her foot.
Almost instantly, an Abomination rose from the floor and groaned Luz, staring at her, as she was unfamiliar to the Blight manner, but he did recognize Amity… But she was passed out in a stranger's arms…
Before Luz could get a word in, the Abomination sunk back into the ground.
"Alrighty then…" She said.
The gates opened and suddenly, in a puff of purple smoke, the Blight Parents were at the gates and in front of Luz.
Odalia looked between Amity and Luz. She instantly recognized the girl from the videos her daughter had shared, as well as… Her research into the girl… There wasn't much to know about the human who appeared on the Isle overnight.
There was an entire forum on the Weave, dedicated to theorizing on this human and asking where she came from and how she has magic in the first place… A lot of these theories were ridiculous, however…
She would find out herself, here and now.
"H- hi!" Luz greeted, bringing the businesswoman out of her thoughts, "You must be Amity's Mom and Dad!"
"And pray tell, Human… What are you doing with our daughter…?" Odalia asked as Alador stepped forward, carefully taking Amity away from Luz.
Luz looked between the parents, they both certainly had different vibes about them… Alador looked tired and was dirty with Abomination materials and stained purple goggles, while Odalia was clean and presentable, full of energy, and had the same necklace as Amity.
"Well, uhm… W- well... She spent the night with me and my friends for the Moonlight Conjuring! She was really tired, and she passed out and I didn't want to wake her up!" She said, omitting the fact that she flirted Amity unconscious.
"She always did get tired easily…" Alador said, looking down at his daughter at then her brown roots for only a moment before back at the girl in front of them. He handed Amity off to an Abomination, who brought her inside to the manor.
Alador looked behind her and couldn't help but notice the carriage… It was a rather expensive one… Not even they could afford to have such a luxurious carriage, even with running an entire weapons company…
"Who… Did you say you were?" Alador asked, looking back at Luz, "Because, I know only the richest people on the Isles own carriages such as that…" He said.
Luz held her hands behind her back.
"My name is Luz, Sir, Luz Noceda." She answered with a smile.
"And what is this symbol on your chest, Luz?" Odalia asked, pointing at the medallion her father had given her.
Luz covers it quickly.
"O- Oh… It's… Nothing important… Just a gift from… My father…"
"And who is your father?" Alador asked next.
"Uh… No one important… He's just an official in the Emperor's Coven… I'll be going now! Have a nice day!" Luz quickly turned to leave but suddenly, her medallion glowed purple before it flew off her neck. She turned around quickly and watched as Odalia caught it in her hand.
"Hey! Give that back to me!" Luz said, going to reach for it but was stopped by a set of Abominations, controlled by Alador.
"Now hold on," Odalia said, "I feel like we should be knowing who our daughter hangs around with, after all," She said with a smirk before inspecting the medallion. The image wasn't anything eye-catching or identifying in particular, flipping it over, it was just gold. No inscription or anything.
Luz feels as if she's won… The secret was still safe…
"Hm… Nothing a simple Oracle spell won't reveal…" She said, hand glowing purple.
Luz's eyes widened. Amity's mom was an Oracle!?
"No, No, Don't! You're going to regret what you see; I swear!" Luz warned, straining against the Abominations, "Why are these things so strong!?" She groaned.
Odalia simply rolled her eyes and placed her hand on the medallion.
"Yeah right, we'll see about that…" She said as she activated the spell, "Alright… What do we have here…"
Odalia suddenly went quiet as her eyes glowed purple, and she peeked at the past of the item she held in her hands.
She saw many things that Luz went through while wearing the medallion… She was going through… Was that… The Emperor's castle? That couldn't be right… Could it? She looked further.
Odalia gasped at the sight of the Emperor in her visions.
"The… Emperor…?" She asked.
Luz hissed; she was finding out the truth…
Odalia looked further and saw that the Emperor was hugging Luz and another, older female human.
"I love you, Dad…" Luz said to the Emperor.
"And as do I, my little light…" He responded.
Odalia gasped in shock as her eyes returned to normal and she dropped the medallion. She stared at Luz.
"Impossible…" She whispered, eyes wide. The Emperor had a daughter…? With a Human woman no less?
Alador stared at his wife with a curious look about him.
"What did you see, dear?" He asked.
Odalia was seen sweating before clearing her throat.
"A- Alador, release… Release the Princess…" She said softly.
"Princess?" He asked, "You're serious?"
Odalia shot him a look that said, "Does it look like I'm joking?"
Alador quickly sent away the Abominations as Luz stepped forward, taking back her Medallion, putting it back around her neck with a huff.
"Man, Dad is going to be angry to hear about this…" Luz said with an annoyed groan.
The Blight parents felt the color drain from their face, for they couldn't help but interpret it as them dooming their family to stone. They simultaneously fell to a knee, bowing to Luz, which shocked her.
"Please, Princess," Odalia began, "Forgive our intrusion of your Privacy, it was uncharacteristically callous of us…" She said softly, hoping that Princess was more forgiving than Belos, "We only wish to… Ensure our daughter's safety, is all…" She said softly.
Luz blushed in embarrassment at the kneeling. She cleared her throat.
"P- Please, rise…" She said softly and the Blight Parents hesitatingly did so, "I'm not… Going to petrify you for worrying about your daughter's safety…" She crossed her arms, "On the one condition that you don't tell anyone that I exist, my father… Would be incredibly angry if anyone else knew of the truth…" She said, silently instating a threat.
It made Luz feel sick to do so. Being a Princess felt icky sometimes, she hated threatening people to keep a secret.
The parents nodded in agreement.
"Of course, The Blight family has always been loyal to the crown and the Emperor's Coven…" Odalia said, "And we'd be more than willing to uphold the integrity of the crown…. And on behalf of the Blight family, I thank you for bringing our daughter home safely." She said softly, hoping it was enough for the Princess to spare them…
Luz smiled as she cleared her throat and remembered a few things her father taught her.
"Thank you, Madame and Sir Blight," She said formally, "The Emperor recognizes your loyalty to the Crown…" She then gave the parents a courtesy bow, "I hope the rest of your day is enjoyable…"
"As to you, as well, Princess…" Alador said this time.
Luz watched as the Blight parents disappear through their large gates and the doors of their manor, silently closing behind them. She quickly returned to the awaiting carriage and entered, closing the door behind her.
Once she was successfully out of sight, her shoulders slacked before she covered her face, screaming into her hands.
"Why is keeping the fact I'm a Princess so hard!? Should it be so hard!?" She asked herself, laying on the carriage seats with an intense groan.
"You know, Princess," A familiar voice said, looking, Luz saw the glass of the window shimmer and Luz was now standing in the reflection.
"Keeping a secret you don't want to keep is bad for your health," She said, knocking on the barrier between them, "Why don't you break this mirror, and I can make the secret no longer matter? What do you say?" She asked, smiling at Luz with her sharp fangs.
Luz rolled her eyes as she sat herself up.
"Like that'll ever happen… Where were you all night, anyway?" She asked, curious as to why Luz wasn't being terrorized by the copy demon.
"Uh, hello? You haven't been near a single mirror or reflection for most of the night, otherwise, I can't contact you." Zul said, knocking on the barrier.
Luz stroked her chin in thought.
"Interesting…" She thought before grabbing the blind to the window, "So if I pull this, you can't talk to me?" She asked.
"Don't you dare, Princess…" Zul said, narrowing her eyes at Luz.
"Oh nooooo, my hand's slipping…" She said as she began to pull the blinds down.
"Princess, I swear to MATAKA LILITH BELOW-"
That caught Luz's attention.
"Mataka Lilith?" Luz asked, actually stopping. She was curious.
Zul gave her a look and eyes the blinds about to close before clearing her throat.
"Y- Yes… The Mataka Lilith…" She said.
"Who's that?" Luz asked, "Are you talking about Lilith in the Emperor's Coven?"
Zul cringed.
"No, of course not, how disgraceful to name one's child after our Mother…" She said, crossing her arms, "No, Princess, Mataka means Mother… Mataka Lilith is the Mother of all Demons, she created so many of us with the Otec Lucifer, before leaving for the Underworld to rule over the Abyss… At least, that's what we Demons think…"
"What do you mean?" Luz asked, intrigued to learn that Demon's had beliefs. This also brought into question many things about religion in the Human World, but she ignored those questions for now.
Zul then displayed an image to Luz.
It was of a tall, horned woman next to a sharply dressed man with a set of feathery wings.
"Well, we don't know where our Otec and Mataka went to exactly, they've all but disappeared and we haven't heard a thing from them in thousands of years… Not even the Ri family, royalty of demon lands, knows what happened to them… We just assume they went to the Abyss to rule over it…" She said before she swiped away the image of them.
"Hmmm… That's so interesting…" Luz said, writing in her journal.
"Where did you get that?" Zul asked, knowing that she didn't even have her bag on her to pull that out of.
"Don't worry about that… Keep telling me about these demons…" She said, genuinely interested in learning what was essentially Demon theology.
Zul was surprised by her interest.
"Uhm… Well, you see…" Zul would then talk about demons and their beliefs for the rest of the ride back to the castle.
-Later, again-
Luz entered her bedroom, the entire wall was destroyed so she didn't bother using the door.
She fell onto her very broken bed, but she didn't care at the moment… She needed to preserve every bit of sleep before the Construction Coven arrived tomorrow to do repairs.
"Finally..." She said softly as she turned over and looked at the mess in the room. It was utterly destroyed, and the window was shattered and there was Oni blood all over the floor.
Although tonight was unbelievably one of the most chaotic and deadly nights of her life, she had to admit... It was probably one of the best nights of her life...
Truly, life on the Boiling Isles could never be boring.
Luz smiled as she stared at the equally broken ceiling and closed her eyes with a sigh.
"Can't wait… For tomorrow…" She yawned and finally passed out in bed.
