Author's Note: Hey everyone, Fire Slash here and welcome to my fic 'The Great Old Ones'. Basically, I decided to write this to try my hand at the horror genre. Now, before we begin, I want to say some stuff. First, compared to the world of MHA, Izuku will be OP. However, if you've read any of H.P Lovecraft's stories or played the Call of Cthulhu rpg, then you know he's nothing compared to what's out there. He also won't be the only character with ties to the Cthulhu Mythos, so he'll have to contend with a few other characters around (and perhaps above) his level. Third, I most likely won't be doing romance here, sorry for those who enjoy that kind of stuff. I can't really see any way of making it work in this fic.

Well, I've said all that I had to. With that out of the way, let's get right to the story. Review and enjoy :-)

"The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind," - H.P Lovecraft.

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age," - H.P Lovecraft.

No matter how far humanity advances, whether it be evolutionary wise or technological wise, there will be truths they will never be able to uncover. Even if said truths were somehow uncovered, their little minds wouldn't be able to comprehend it; the smallest piece of these truth would drive them mad.

Take for example the common notion that the universe was filled with a whole lot of nothing. In actuality, there's more out there than one might think. Beings incomprehensible to the human eye lurk around the universe, some hidden in plain sight while others live in different planes of existence humans aren't even close to discovering. The unfathomable intelligence and power of some of these beings makes the entire human race look like nothing in comparison. Such is to be expected as they have existed long before the universe was born and they were responsible for many unexplainable phenomena. The development of quirks, innate superpowers eighty percent of the population are born with, is an example of such an event. It's commonly accepted as fact that quirks were an evolutionary development, yet this was far from the case. Quirks came to be due to an outsider's meddling. What purpose would an outsider gain from doing such a thing? Perhaps it was bored and wanted some toys to play with, or maybe quirks were given to humans for a specific reason. No one really knows...not even Izuku Midoriya knows, and he's technically one of them…

Well, sort of. He was more of an anomaly, a being a both worlds; born to human parents, but not fully human.

Anyone who met the boy could tell there was something odd about him. When he first came out of the womb, the doctor nearly dropped the baby Izuku. He did not cry, he did not react to the doctor's touch, and while he looked fully human, his eyes bore into the doctor's; his cold, seemingly empty eyes. The doctor felt some sort of primal fear overtake him for a second as his vision went blank. It was an unexplainable fear; it was as if he was holding an alien that was eying him up for lunch. Thankfully, before he did something that would have certainly made him lose his job, the wave of fear he felt petered out and he handed the abnormal child back to his parents: Inko and Hisashi Midoriya.

As a baby, Izuku wasn't fussy. He never cried nor did he make any noises. All he did was stare at everything and anything. People, the wall, the T.V, nothing was safe from his seemingly blank stare. If anyone found out what he was staring at, they'd scream. The boy was constantly staring at other planes of existence and into what seemed to be the void of nothingness, observing the occupants of such a world. For a while, said occupants left him alone, seeing him as so insignificant he wasn't even worth their attention...

Izuku was cold to the touch, colder than a human should be, and this was something that would persist as he grew. His parents tried taking him to the doctors to see if something was up, but they couldn't find anything.

Development wise, Izuku was also an anomaly. He was an efficient walker by the time other children were just learning how to do so. This was a shock to the parents, but not an unwelcome one. Afterwards, one would expect the young Izuku to develop his motor skills, but before he could do so, the boy seemingly developed his quirk. For the record, unless the child had a mutant quirk, kids didn't develop their quirks until around the age of four years, and even if the child had a mutant quirk, they couldn't use most of their abilities until then. When Inko discovered her son's 'quirk', she had turned on the lights to his room while he was staring at the wall, it being time for him to go to sleep. In response, the boy turned around and, via transforming his fingers into black tentacles, he turned off the lights again.

"Your son shouldn't have a quirk," the doctor told Inko after she had taken him to see a quirk specialist. He then handed her an x-ray of her son. "Your child has a second toe joint, which is a sign of quirklessness, so it's odd that Izuku here has developed a quirk, and at such a young age no less."

This was another surprise that was welcomed. While she'd love her son even if he was quirkless, Inko knew the hard lives those without quirks lived. As such, she was thankful that her son's medical oddity meant he wouldn't have to go through such an experience.

White was the first thing Izuku noticed when he woke up. Was everything always this white? No, not even when he was peering at the other worlds. Maybe there was something wrong with his eyesight, but that didn't explain why there was some creature staring at him, a creature which looked like something beyond what a human can even hope to imagine.

Blinking, Izuku carefully observed the thing floating in front of him. It stared back at him in response. The two continued their staredown for a few minutes. Not detecting hostility from the creature, Izuku decided to talk to it. "Hello?"

"Hello young one," the creature replied, though it didn't make a sound. Rather, the greeting was spoken telepathically. "What happens to bring you to the Great White Space?"

The bot tilted his head, puzzled. "The Great White Space?"

"Ah, it seems you are not familiar with planar travel yet. The Great White Space is the plane which separates the mortal world from the Outer Realms. The laws of space and tangibility work differently here."

Izuku nodded in understanding, now having a name for one of the worlds, or rather, planes he had been silently observing all this time. However, something else that the other being said piqued his curiosity. "And what are the Outer Realms?"

"The Outer Realms are where you and I come from, they exist beyond time and space. They are extremely dangerous however. Even if you were to make a trip there, you most likely won't come back alive. Beings far more powerful than you lurk there, and not all of them are friendly."

Izuku simply nodded in a stiff-like manner, having gathered another name for one of the planes of existence he had been watching. Based on the way the other being described the Outer Realms, Izuku knew it was yet another plane he had been eying for some time now. "But how'd I end up here though?"

"There's nothing I can say other than it just happened." If the creature could shrug, it would've by now. "At least, that's what I would say if you were fully human. You are not, and so you can travel safely to The Great White Space. You must've finally developed the ability to do so and transported yourself here by accident."

Another nod was done to let the creature know that he once again understood what it was talking about.

"You are lucky that I was the first to find you. Not all the residents here are as civil as I. If you want to survive in The Great White Space, you'll have to continue developing your abilities. Out here, your power is enough to protect you, but not in the Outer Realms. I'd advise staying away from there, for as I mentioned before, much more powerful forces lurk there."

"You said I should develop my abilities… how would I go about doing so?"

"Either on your own or with allies. My friends and I have been trapped in The Great White Space for eons and we are more than willing to help you if you allow us to return to the Outer Realms. From what I can tell, you're powerful enough to conjure a portal to the Outer Realms once you have enough experience."

Izuku's eyes began focusing on the creature in front of him. "And how'd you find yourself here? Were you imprisoned? Were you criminals?"

"Oh young one, in the Outer Realms, there is no such thing as justice and criminals. What happens happens, most of the time for no reason. We just happened to get caught up in the crossfire between two far more powerful beings and the aftermath both stranded us here and stripped us of some of our power."

"..." Izuku tried to see any signs of them lying, but he couldn't find any. Despite his age and the fact the beings he was talking to weren't human, Izuku liked to think of himself as a decent judge of character.

"So, will you help us? Or will you struggle on your own?"

"...I'll help you." Izuku couldn't see anything wrong with the deal presented. Both parties benefited from it, so who was he to refuse?

"Wise decision. Now, let us begin…

At the age of two came Izuku's next major development. Inko had been making dinner for her family when she heard her son mumbling gibberish. This came as a surprise to her because he had yet to show signs of being able to talk. Admittedly, she thought her son would forever be mute since babies began talking when they were about a year old. What he was saying was lost on her. At first, she dismissed it as baby talk. However, upon listening in more, she noticed that whatever he was saying wasn't normal baby talk. Rather than the soft babbling found in most babies, the noises coming out of his mouth were sharp and deep. In fact, it sounded almost demonic in nature.

"Izuku, are you ok?" Inko asked her child, not really expecting an answer.

"Yes."

Naturally, when the boy responded, in perfect Japanese no less, she was startled.

"Hisashi, Izuku just spoke," Inko said, having called her husband.

"That's great!" The man said. He had been worried for his son and was happy that he was speaking. As such, he found it odd that Inko didn't seem to share his enthusiasm. "You don't seem happy about it."

"Believe me, I am, but, he skipped some steps. He, uh, said 'yes' before 'papa' and 'mama'."

"That's odd, but that doesn't seem too weird…

"Hisashi, you should've seen the way he looked at me. He spoke to me like an adult would."

"Hmm..." Inko could tell her husband was confused, but she didn't blame him. This was a strange situation, and it only one which could be witnessed to fully understand the oddity that took place. Words alone could not describe what she's seen. "See if you can get him to say anything else. When I get home, we'll see if I can schedule an appointment for him to see a speech therapist."

"Ok. I'll see if he can say anything else. Love you."

"Love you too."

Hanging up, Inko glanced back at her son. "Izuku, earlier, what were you saying?"

"I was talking to some friends," the boy responded in a flat tone before drifting out to space.

'Oh God, he might have schizophrenia', Inko thought to herself. Either that, or he had a large imagination. Hopefully it was just a large imagination. "Where are your friends sweetie?"

"Not here, but all around," Izuku responded. "You wouldn't understand."

It was then that Inko noticed something about his eyes. Though they physically didn't change, something about them did. Instead of his eyes being pools of emptiness, it was as if she was looking at the entire universe through them. Said feeling lasted for only a few seconds though for eventually she blinked and it was gone. It was an experience she'd never forget...

What Inko didn't know was that he had finally caught the attention of some of the inhabitants of the other planes. Some were friendly like his friends, Others tried to coerce him to give up his body and/or other parts of himself, offering him various things such as power in return. Thankfully he was smart enough to not give in to such desires, for who knows what could happen if Izuku ever sold the one part of him that connected him to his human side…

"One thing you must understand is that the skin you're wearing is not your true form," one of the odd beings Izuku's befriended told the young boy. "Have you ever felt restricted? As if you can do more than you currently can?"

"I have," Izuku admitted telepathically. It's been almost two years since he first entered The Great White Space and he's learnt a lot about himself and the universe as a whole. It turns out he had latent telepathic abilities he's never used until traveling to The Great White Space .

"Well, that's due to the fact you've adapted the skin you wear so you can coexist with the humans. Removing your skin will allow you to use all of your dormant powers, but will drive any human who looks at you insane as they won't be able to comprehend your very existence. You can reform your skin whenever you'd like, but let's focus on removing it first."

"And how do I do that?"

"Shed it," Izuku's friend told him. "Release the shackles of your mind and allow yourself to stretch for once."

Despite the cryptic wording of the instructions, Izuku understood what he was told. Releasing the mental restraints holding him down, Izuku allowed for his skin to be shed and his true form to rise.

"How do you feel?"

Izuku only needed one word to express the feeling of shedding his skin.

"F̶̛͎̭̞̐̆̌̔R̴͎̳͙̈́̄͛̏͝E̵̝̮̳̿̏Ě̷̪͉̥͍͎̻̉"

After the incident where Izuku spoke to his parents for the first time, he was taken to a speech therapist where it was discovered that he was somehow fluent in various languages. English, Spanish, French, both Chinese dialects, these were some of the big ones he was discovered to know at the mere age of two. Perhaps if more testing had been done, Inko and Hisashi might've learned that the boy was actually fluent in every language ever spoken on Earth. His knowledge of the languages even included the ones considered dead.

In addition, he had managed to learn the languages of the outsiders, the collection of dialects referred to Izuku as Deep Speech, which was the incoherent mumbling Inko initially confused for 'baby talk'. Both parents would become accustomed to hearing him speak Deep Speech, with the words sounding more inhuman the further he aged.

After Izuku began talking, things would only get weirder for the Midoriya family. As Izuku grew, he began developing more powers. Most individuals either possessed a singular quirk, a singular quirk which gave them several attributes, or they had a quirk which was a combination of their parents' quirks. Rather than sticking to this logic regarding quirks, Izuku seemingly developed new powers on the fly, sometimes right after the other. One day, Inko found Izuku teleporting around the house. The next day she found him playing with a ball of what looked to be necrotic energy. There was even a time where Izuku literally disappeared right in front of her, only to blink back into the living room a week later and act as if nothing happened.

"I saw some friends," Izuku responded when Inko questioned him. When asked for more specifics, Izuku simply shrugged his shoulders and casually mentioned something about being 'somewhere where the living cannot enter' before adding that she wouldn't understand, a phrase which she would be accustomed to hearing from her son.

Unknown to either of his parents, Izuku's abilities came not from a quirk, but from both his bloodline and from his 'friends.' His friends had been teaching him what could only be called magic of some sorts while also teaching him how to manage his 'true form'. It wasn't like he could practice his powers freely in the material plane, even if one ignored the laws regarding the usage of quirks in Japan…

0000

"The closest thing in the human vocabulary which describes some of what we can do is 'magic'," another of Izuku's friends told him. "However, it works differently than humans think of when thinking of magic and it comes from a different source. You need not to worry about any of that, all you need to focus on is casting." The creature then summoned a ball of necrotic energy. "Magic can be used for many things, but what you should understand is that magic isn't the solution to everything. Some creatures are outright immune to magic and you'll need to find another way to deal with them. Today, I'll be teaching you a simple spell, one which is effective against most creatures. Pay attention to how I cast it and try mimicking it to the best of your abilities…"

"Izuku, what is this?" Inko asked a three year old Izuku, pointing to the strange symbol seemingly drawn on her room's door. When she had first woken up, the woman was greeted with one of the symbols on her room's roof. Confused, she went out to grab Izuku, thinking that her boy somehow drew it using crayons, but as she's learnt countless other times, answers regarding her son were never simple. While she traversed her home to speak to her son, Inko noticed there were several of these strange symbols around her home. There was even one on her mailbox.

"An Elder Sign," Izuku replied before going back to his journal, something which tends to occupy his attention. Despite Izuku's intensive verbal skills, the boy talked to no one besides his parents and even then, he didn't say much to them. As such, Hisashi hoped that whenever he had issues he didn't want to talk about, he could write them down, hence why he brought Izuku his first journal. Ever since then, it was almost impossible to see Izuku without one. He carried the thing everywhere he went. What he wrote in them, neither parents knew. They wanted to respect their child's privacy, so they never bothered looking into them. It wasn't like they could if they wanted to as Izuku put a spell that made the contents of the journal invisible to everyone but the writer. Even if they could see it, it was written in Deep Speech, so simply put, his journals were protected from outsiders. As for what he wrote, he wrote analyses of the various beings he found in the ethereal plane. Their abilities, their strengths, their intellect, everything he could learn about these creatures were jotted down.

Inko looked at her son in confusion. "An Elder Sign?"

"It'll protect us from the outsiders," Izuku told her.

"Outsiders?"

"Outsiders," Izuku repeated, not even looking up from his journal.

Once again, Inko was left confused by her son's actions. Strangely enough, she could've sworn she saw the signs glow numerous times throughout the years that followed...

0000

"Listen young one. You are far more powerful than any human on this planet. The only beings that can threaten you are those of Outer Realm origin. You seem to be attached to those humans you call parents, so I thought I'd remind you that when around them, you must control your strength or else you'll kill them. The only time I'd recommend even using your strength is when you find yourself facing a being from the Outer Realms or those like you. While the number of those in the latter category can be counted with your fingers, it is quite often that a being from the Outer Realms can traverse through The Great White Space and find its way to the mortal plane of existence. When that happens and the foe's too powerful, you must make a choice; either it's life or yours."

0000

Naturally, as Izuku grew, so did his natural and magical abilities. By the age of four, Izuku discovered how to bring physical objects into The Great White Space with him.

When Izuku was five, he was finally made to go to school. To the boy, school life wasn't anything special. He already knew the material taught, so he often drifted into space, continuing to observe the The Great White Space. However, he made sure to pay a little bit of attention in case a teacher tried calling him out for not focusing on the lesson. After successfully answering a few questions, the teachers soon got off his back and stopped pestering him.

Regarding his grades, Izuku was simply what most students strived to be, having perfect marks in all of his classes. It was another reason why his teachers stopped bothering him whenever he was seemingly spacing out. His grades were certainly not suffering. This was to be expected though, for his outwardly heritage granted him with a level of intelligence that dwarfed all intelligence enhancing quirks. How else was he supposed to remain sane despite learning what he's learned from the occupants of The Great White Space?

In terms of his social status, Izuku didn't particularly care for how popular he was. He was too busy with his own life to care about trivial things like popularity. As for how everyone else viewed him, they saw him as the weird kid. He never spoke unless spoken to, and even then, he'd sometimes unintentionally ignore whoever was calling him, being too absorbed in his own world to notice that someone was talking to him. His empty eyes also creeped people out as him staring at someone made them feel as if he was peering into their very souls. Despite his status as the 'creepy kid' though, no one really bothered him. Well, almost no one did.

It was a well known fact that Izuku was the strongest person in his school, which kept him from being bullied. However, his status upset one of his schoolmates to no end. His name, Katsuki Bakugou. Katsuki's quirk allowed him to create explosions by igniting his sweat. Izuku didn't really know anything about Katsuki besides three things; his quirk, the fact he was the son of his mother's best friend, and that despite wanting to be a hero, once Katsuki's quirk developed, he became arrogant and cruel, using his power to inflict pain upon others.

Being that he kept to himself and never showed off his powers, Izuku initially wasn't on the boy's radar. However, upon intervening in one of the boy's acts of violence did he earn his ire.

On that day, Izuku had been walking through the schoolyard so he could go home, but stopped when he saw the victim curled up, burn marks present all over his clothes and body. Next to him were Katsuki and his lackeys, all three clearly having beaten up the unfortunate boy.

The original plan was to go home and ignore the incident, but the boy found himself frozen in place. Despite having no emotional attachment to the victim, Izuku still wanted to help. He didn't know what it was that made him do so, but something about seeing someone who needed protection managed to make him act that day.

"You may not be fully human, but you still have human DNA in you," one of his friends had told him later on. "It's only natural that you'd experience human emotions."

"Logically, someone's emotions are strongest in scenarios dealing with events that involve themselves or their loved ones, but I didn't even know him… so why did I run in to save him?"

"That's not something that I can answer. Only you can figure it out."

In the blink of an eye, Izuku found himself between the victim and his abusers (was it teleportation? Or did he bend the laws of space to close the distance?) and stared at the boys with the same stare he gave everyone else. "Stop."

"Eh? Who the hell are you thinking you can tell us what to do?" Katsuki sneered.

Izuku stood unflinching, his eyes never closing to blink. "He's hurt. Stop."

"Does it look like I give a crap? Now step aside before I kill you." Upon saying this, Katsuki let loose a small explosion in his palm while his two lackeys began showing off their quirks; one had a finger extension quirk while the other had a pair of bat wings.

"Stop."

"Shut up!"

"Stop."

"You know what? Screw this! I'll kill you right here, right now." Having enough of the green haired boy, Katsuki launched himself forwards, his lackeys following close behind. What they didn't expect was to be hoisted up and ensnared by several tentacles coming from the boy's fingers. What's worse was that Izuku hadn't even moved his arms to attack them, so it looked like he didn't put any effort into stopping them. "Let me go!"

Despite their best efforts, neither Katsuki or his friends could free themselves from their restraints. Aiming to give the boy a glare, Katsuki ended up holding in a breath. Like the doctor who had delivered Izuku from his mother, Katsuki was struck with a wave of fear as Izuku's eyes no longer looked empty. Instead, they seemed to be teaming with something alien, something he could not describe. It was as if some sort of primordial force lurked behind those eyes and would cause unimaginable damage if freed. Like the doctor though, the sense of dread quickly went away and Katsuki was able to breathe again.

'What was that?' The boy asked himself. Whatever it was, he did not like it and Izuku had caused it, and not only that, but the green haired boy had overpowered him without looking like he had to use a lot of effort to do so. Angry, he continued to launch curses at Izuku until a faculty member saw the commotion and separated the boys. The school let them off with a warning however, something that would become common as both Izuku and Katsuki were their 'star students'. The school knew that both students had the power to become extremely popular pro-heroes and were hoping that once they did, they'd bring some attention to their old teachers, which was odd in Izuku's case since he never spoke about what he wanted to do once he got older (he actually didn't even have a dream to begin with).

Even though no one got in trouble, that incident was what caused Katsuki to hate Izuku. The boy would try everything to intimidate him, first by yelling at him and then by launching explosions at him. However, much to his dismay, Izuku never noticed the other boy, being too deep in his own world to care about Katsuki's attempts at asserting dominance over him. The yells were drowned out by whatever was happening in the Great White Space and Outer Realms while the explosions were never felt. Hell, they didn't even leave a burn mark when Katsuki struck his skin. It didn't matter where Katsuki hit him or how hard he hit him, Izuku would just walk on by without paying him any attention. He even took a few point-blank explosions to the face without reacting. The only times Izuku's ever noticed the blonde was when he was bullying someone else and all that happened as a result was that Katsuki and/or his friends would be ensnared once more by Izuku's tentacles. Why Izuku kept saving people he didn't know wasn't something he could answer. To him, it was as if some sort of magical force kept making him help others in need.

Whatever the reason for his selfless actions, it added to Katsuki's hatred for Izuku, which persisted throughout their elementary and middle school years with no signs of ever petering out…

Katsuki was lucky Izuku never noticed him, for if Izuku really cared, it would not end well…

After all,

W̶͚̽H̷̰͋A̵̗̎T̵͕̀ ̴̥̌W̷̧͊À̸̜S̴̙̍ ̴̨̊A̴̢̛ ̵̖͒S̶͖̈́M̵̠̂Ḁ̵̌L̷̦̊L̵̰͆ ̵̭̐C̸͛͜H̷̝̔I̵̘̊L̸̰͒D̸̖͆ ̵̖͆T̷͉̓O̶̻͒ ̶̯̋A̶͖̿ ̵̼̒Ġ̶̞Ơ̵̪D̶̫̎?̶͓̅

By the end of his last year of middle school, Izuku had grown exponentially in regards to the power he possessed. Such can be seen from the fact that he can now transport himself or another body/object to the Outer Realms. It was a sad day to see his friends go, but they told him that once they find a way to freely traverse through the planes again, they'll visit him. Such ended up not being a long time since Izuku was visited by them once more in The Great White Space. However, instead of greetings, they instead came with a warning.

"Your world will not last much longer," his original friend informed him. "Two beings are engaged in a conflict and your world will be one of the millions which'll be collateral damage. We've discussed it and have decided to invite you to our little area of the Outer Realms. It's hidden from outsiders and you will be safe there. You'll have to say goodbye to your parents though since they most certainly won't survive in the Outer Realms."

"How do I save my world?" Izuku asked, not even thinking about the words leaving his mouth. Just like whenever he found someone in need of help, Izuku was naturally drawn to wanting to save his world.

"There is no saving your world," his friend replied. "The two beings…the closest word to describe them in human terms is that they are 'deities'. There is nothing you can do to fight them. One of your power wouldn't even get their attention. You, and I as well, are nothing to them."

Izuku wasn't faltering. "There has to be a way."

"Your human side isn't going to give up unless you try something," Izuku's friend noted to itself. "The human race is a stubborn one, for even in the face of something greater than mankind, it won't accept defeat without a fight. Well, I have no information to give you, but perhaps one of the other occupants of The Great White Space does. You might even run into another 'deity' if you're lucky, but make sure to remain cautious while talking to any outsiders. You never know what you might encounter…"

Ever since that day, Izuku has done his best to make sure that he can save his world. However, he had no sure-fire plan. He couldn't just brute force his way through this problem nor could he even do anything as he was now. It was like his friends had said, he was nothing compared to the deities. As such, he's been talking to other passersby in The Great White Space in hopes of gaining some sort of knowledge to either defeat or deter these 'deities'. Sadly, his search hasn't produced any results and if it continues to do so, he'll have to consider traveling to the Outer Realms, something that'll surely cause his death as he has no idea how to safely traverse through such a place.

"Surrender yourself to me, and I'll protect your world," some of the residents of the Great White Space would whisper to him. However, Izuku could easily tell that these beings were nowhere near powerful enough to deal with two deities. They weren't even stronger than him. They themselves knew this, so whenever Izuku refused, they never bothered to attack him.

With combat most likely to be involved in Izuku's near future, this meant that the boy had to become a hero as they were the only ones allowed to use their quirk in an offensive sense. Yes, Izuku didn't have a quirk, but the world believed he did, so he still needed a hero license to use his quirk.

Only caring about getting the license rather than what school he went to, Izuku didn't do any research on the particular schools around him, so when he heard Katsuki mention something about an 'U.A', Izuku decided to apply for the school as well. It infuriated the other boy to no end, but it wasn't like Izuku noticed his ramblings about 'wanting to be the only person from this shitty school to go to U.A' to begin with. He was far more invested in other, far important things…

...Such as the strange creature currently trying to kill him. From one look at it alone, Izuku could tell it had come from the Great White Plane. Whether it lived there and managed to find its way to his world or if it traveled all the way from the Outer Realms, Izuku couldn't tell. All he knew was that it wasn't friendly and that it was going to be his first opponent. Yes, he needed a license to fight, but that was only in public. He was in a secluded tunnel almost no one ever used. No harm done if he's careful to hurt anyone besides his opponent, right?

Speaking of his target, to the untrained eye, it was simply a pile of sludge with a pair of eyes. To the trained eye, it was still a pile of sludge with a pair of eyes, but whatever the sludge was made of wasn't anything which could be found on Earth. The sludge was alien in nature, just like the creature composed of the slime.

Just based on his senses, Izuku knew that the Sludge Monster wasn't any sort of threat to him. It was weak, even compared to the residents of The Great White Space, and a mortal could even kill it, though it'll still pose a great threat to anyone who wasn't prepared. Physical attacks would pass right through it and it was highly heat resistant, so powerful shock waves and electricity were the best ways of dealing with the creature. Its intelligence was also lacking to the point where it was only as smart as an animal. Only one thing seemed to be driving it to action and it was the need to kill and consume. There's no reason for Izuku to bother going to his skin form's limits in this fight, much less fight it in his true form.

Letting loose an inhuman roar, the Sludge Monster attempted to snag Izuku via a tendril made of slime, only for the boy's entire arm to turn into a tentacle and bat it away with no issue, even managing to disconnect it from the main body.

Upping the intensity, the monster created more tendrils and fired them at the boy. Muttering a word in Deep Speech to himself, Izuku created a forcefield of electricity, causing immense pain to the Sludge Villain. Another howl escaped its mouth as it started to shrink back, understanding that Izuku would not become its prey. Before it could leave, a wall of force blocked out the end of the tunnel. If it wanted freedom, it would have to get through Izuku, and the boy had no plans of letting it wreak havoc. Only one of them was getting out of this encounter alive.

Another incomprehensible screech was released from the Sludge Monster as its tendrils began to sharpen, aiming to skewer the young boy. In response, Izuku conjured several portals, causing the spikes to go through them and for the monster to skewer its own eyes.

One final roar of pain was what it was able to let out before Izuku began charging up a wave of necrotic energy. With the monster flailing around in a rather small area, Izuku was able to fully power up his spell before firing it at his opponent. Taking the full brunt of the attack, the monster disintegrated in an instant.

With the fight being over, Izuku dispelled his wall of force (which had managed to remain intact despite also being hit by the necrotic wave) and began walking home as if nothing happened.

U.A was a school which has seen people from various backgrounds with various quirks. However, they've never seen someone like Izuku before…

U.A required hopeful applicants to take a written exam and a physical exam. Izuku had no idea what each composed of when walking in to take the exam, not like that was any issue for him.

"I'm done," Izuku told the proctor, much to everyone's disbelief. The written test was only administered two minutes ago and Izuku had picked up his pencil once a minute had passed, having been occupied with scanning the Great White Space for a being who could help him with saving his world. Once he began the exam, one small look was all he needed to comprehend and solve the questions, even for the reading sections.

"You're what?" The proctor, who was no other than pro-hero Vlad King, asked the boy.

"I've completed the exam," Izuku repeated with his signature blank look.

"If you say so. You can hand in your exam and wait in the cafeteria."

Doing as he was told, Izuku handed in his exam and went to the cafeteria.

Curiosity consuming him, Vlad King flipped through Izuku's exam. There was no way a kid could finish the exam in under two minutes, right? Even U.A's principal, an animal hybrid named Nezu who possessed one of the greatest intelligence enhancing quirks known to the world, would have taken half an hour to finish such an exam. There weren't any speed quirks that were strong enough to allow someone to finish the exam in that short of a time either. All of these factors pointed to an answer of NO to his question, but upon going through Izuku's exam, the man was surprised to see that every question was answered. He didn't have an answer key on him though, so he couldn't tell if they were all correct, so either Izuku was really dumb or he was unnaturally smart.

'If I didn't have to stay here, I'd scan these answers already,' Vlad King thought to himself as he watched the other students continue their exams.

The physical exam was also unbelievably simple to Izuku, even more-so than the written exam. All that they wanted him to do was destroy some robots, each assigned points corresponding to their challenge level, nothing big. It gave the boy an excuse to use some of his powers freely though, which he supposed was nice.

None of the robots stood a chance against him. One, two, three pointers, it didn't matter their strength, it was insignificant against Izuku. Their attacks bounced off of him and he didn't notice himself being pelted with bullets whenever he engaged in combat with large groups of robots. Any that he grabbed with his tentacles were crushed as if they were mere bugs and torn apart as if they were pieces of paper. Magic wasn't needed, the task in front of him was one he could solve with brute force.

The only part about the exam that made him feel anything was whenever he encountered someone who was being overwhelmed by the robots. Like whenever Katsuki was beating up an innocent person, the desire to help those in need took over Izuku and he aided those who needed his help, demolishing the robots others were struggling with.

Continuing his onslaught of robot destruction, Izuku didn't notice when the proctor of the physical exam, pro-hero Present Mic announced that the 'zero-pointer' was released. Even when the robot, larger than the buildings located in the faux city that served as U.A's testing grounds, began making its way towards Izuku, the boy didn't run away like everyone else, too preoccupied with mindlessly completing the exam to even notice the destruction it was causing.

That is, until something caught his attention.

"H-help." Under some rubble and in the path of the robot was a brown haired girl. It was clear she couldn't get out and if someone didn't do anything, she would be crushed. "S-somebody, please help me!"

Again, Izuku found himself needing to help someone. With the sheer size of the zero-pointer, most would find themselves intimidated by such a beast. All Izuku saw was a target for a new spell he had learnt.

"The Dark Star Hadar seeks to consume all that is in its way," a resident of The Great White Space told him during his search for knowledge. "Many worlds have fallen to its insatiable hunger. This spell will allow you to summon some of his power."

"And if I do?"

"You'll summon a black void of any width you choose. Anything in that void will be susceptible to Hadar's hunger, and with his many tendrils, he'll drag them to him. The tendrils cannot leave the void however and some can find their way outside the void, though it matters not to Hadar. He gets no nourishment from anything."

"Could I use his power to combat that which will destroy my world?"

"Even with your power, you won't be able to make a portal big enough, and even if you were able to, all you'd do is doom your world even more. Hadar consumes anything in its path, so you'll create only create a three-way war. If the other deities don't destroy your world, Hadar surely would."

"Hadar," the boy whispered under his breath in Deep Speech. "Let your insatiable hunger consume all that needs to be destroyed."

Under the zero-pointer, smoke filling a forty foot diameter sphere began rising from the floor before being replaced with a dome of darkness, strange slurping noises and incomprehensible whispers coming from the void. The zero-pointer, with only its head not being obscured from the black void, suddenly stopped moving as the tendrils of Hadar gripped the bottom of the robot. The metal composing the robot began to whine as the zero-pointer was crushed and dragged into the abyss, its head soon disappearing from view. Eventually, the sounds of metal being compressed ended and Izuku dispelled the spell, the void turning into a spoke which dissipated as it rose into the air.

Done with the zero-pointer, Izuku made his way to the girl. When casting the spell, he had made sure the girl was outside the dome and he had confirmed ahead of time that the noises coming from the spell wouldn't drive anyone mad, so the girl hadn't been harmed throughout the whole ordeal. Conjuring tentacles from his fingers, Izuku wordlessly removed the rubble off of the girl up all the rubble before gently picking her up, his analytical eyes picking up the fact that she was wounded. He took her to the entrance of the testing site, where everyone who had taken the exam alongside him stared at him in shock, unable to believe that he had managed to beat the seemingly unbeatable zero-pointer. Izuku didn't notice them, more interested in the school nurse who was offering to heal people hurt by the exam. Handing the girl over to the nurse, Izuku walked away wordlessly, no longer having a reason to be at the testing site.

All anyone could do was watch him walk away in awe, wondering who he was...

Author's Note 2: Just wanted to explain two things real quick-

First, the narration style is how it is because I want to highlight what is important to Izuku, hence why things important to canon such as his relationship with Katsuki received little attention. In this fic, said relationship is a non-entity to Izuku. Same goes for the U.A exam. Also, in regards to not describing how his friends and other spooky horrors he's encountered looked like, similar to true H.P Lovecraft fashion, most will not be described in much detail. Save for a few exceptions, most of the monsters in his works were either given the briefest of descriptions or none at all, which tied into the fact humanity's unable to comprehend their physical existence. I decided to do the same here.

Second, Call of Cthulhu/H.P Lovecraft fans might not be familiar with Hadar. Hadar is an abstract horror from D&D, one which is described as a 'star-like Elder Evil' which eats everything in its path. In D&D, Hadar has a spell named after it (Hunger of Hadar) which reads that "you open a gateway to the dark between the stars, a region infested with unknown horrors. A 20-foot-radius sphere of blackness and bitter cold appears, centered on a point with range and lasting for the duration. This void is filled with a cacophony of soft whispers and slurping noises that can be heard up to 30 feet away. No light, magical or otherwise, can illuminate the area, and creatures fully within the area are blinded. The void creates a warp in the fabric of space..." I added Hadar to this fic 'cause I thought he fits in perfectly with the Cthulhu Mythos (and because I wanted an excuse for Izuku to cast one of my favorite spells in D&D). Besides some references to Hadar though, don't expect the entity to make an appearance.

Finally, The Outer Realms consists of all the other realms mentioned in CoC/H.P Lovecraft's works. I've just categorized them under one term for the time being until the other realms become relevant to the story. Same goes for Deep Speech as a language. It consists of all the H.P Lovecraft/CoC languages.
