The teams had been made, everyone was settled in their dorms, but now a matter of the utmost importance was at hand. The final preparations were made, Cinder kicked and screamed in the machine.

"You can struggle but the bonds will hold you long enough for what needs to be done," Ozpin said as the machine took the magic that had been inside of Cinder, and transferred it back to Amber. Cinder howled like a banshee while Glynda watched, but eventually, it was done with, and Glynda took the thief out of the capsule when it was done.

Ozpin touched the vessel where Amber remained, the current fall maiden, a kind gentle soul, yet so unprepared for the war that they had all been embroiled in for so long. Despite getting the magic back, it wasn't restoring her vitals, she was without a doubt braindead, only being kept alive by machines at this point. Glynda knocked out the thief, and saw the metaphorical heavy burden that Ozpin bore on his shoulders, the man had seen much loss over the years, and though he tried to maintain a facade of control and composure, he was an ancient man, and the years and lives kept piling up, and he remembered each and every one of them, perhaps a side effect of the curse that the gods had laid upon him.

"Oz..." Glynda began.

"Things can't keep going like they have Glynda. Amber was innocent, and Salem not only found her somehow, but she also found a way to steal magic, without machines. And if Ruby hadn't..." He looked at the unconscious Cinder Fall, wrapped in bandages, with a stump for an arm, and down an eye. "If she hadn't caught her, there's no telling what would've happened, and for all we know she might not be the only agent that Salem has." Ozpin thought about Ruby, her display of power, her bold no fuck's given attitude, the way she effortlessly took charge. "Reacting is no longer good enough." Ozpin then stepped into the other vessel, that had once contained Cinder.

"What are you doing?" Glynda was confused.

"What needs to be done. The Maidens were a symbol of hope once, but Salem has taken even that and twisted it to her own ends. I need to reclaim what was once mine, and I will end this fight once and for all." He chuckled, feeling so silly being inspired by someone like Ruby Rose, who even now he could picture flipping him the bird. "Please. I take no joy in this, Amber is only alive by the machines, and this should in theory work, the magic was once mine." Glynda nodded in resolute understanding, Cinder was restrained and unconscious, and it was truly the best option. For if Amber were to die for whatever reason, the power would simply go to someone random, and Salem likely did have other minions and other tricks up her sleeves.

So she began the process, as the machines flared up to life, and the magic in Amber began transferring back to its original owner...
