CHAPTER 3
Two weeks had passed since the night of the sludge villain, Izuku and Toga were sparring while All Might watched, he knew he had to train one student but two was something he hadn't anticipated so he's done what any self respecting man does, he made them fight each other, in the cold rain, what a fantastic idea the Number 1 hero had.
It had been an hour and a half since they had begun training for the day, but they were both quickly exhausted due to the rain wetting their clothes making it harder to move so they both had to stop earlier than usual for the teens.
"Any progress with One for All yet." the blonde teen asked the inheritor.
"No, I haven't even tried to use it since that day." Izuku replied.
A week and a half ago.
It had been 3 days since the sludge incident. Izuku had yet to use One for All.
"Come on, young Midoriya, try to think, what do you see when you close your eyes and think about One for All." As Izuku closed his eyes he saw nothing, nothing at all, was eating All Might's hair really enough to give him One for All if so why couldn't he use it yet.
"Try picturing it." All Might said as Izuku tried to give it an image the only thing he could think of was a river, as he sat thinking what the power might be he realised the river, the river was One for All, or more like he was the river the power itself was the water flowing through it.
"I have it, it looks like a river." Both Toga and All Might seemed confused by this but they rolled with it anyway.
"Okay now let the water flow a bit, BUT not too much, as too much power might break you." All Might said.
Izuku's right arm started glowing a pinkish red colour as he let the water flow slowly. He opened his eyes to see his arm and looked towards All Might with a massive smile on his face.
"Look All Might, Toga I'm doing it, I'm using One for All." Izuku said like he was a child he just figured out how to ride a bike.
"Good, now punch me." All Might said to the teen wanting to see him use the power.
"Got it" Izuku said trusting his teacher to be able to take a 5% Smash as he cocked his arm back, the power flowing into it, he began to swing it towards All Might as his arm flew through the air aiming for the hero, the river began overflowing as if it had just been hit by a storm wit Izuku in the center, as the power jumped from 5% to 100% in an instant, All Might quickly took notice of this before the punch landed, increasing his power from 20% to 100% to block the punch and stop the buildings around them from being destroyed by his protege, when his arm made contact Toga was blown away in a massive gust of wind and dust All MIght stood completely unmoved from the spot he was in Izuku was on the ground in pain as his arm had broken when he swung it due to him not being able to handle the power.
Toga ran over to him to help him as she pulled out her phone to call an ambulance to help him but All Might stopped her.
"Hold it young Toga I'll call someone who knows how One for All works to help him." All Might reassured her as she put the phone down.
After what felt like hours for Izuku an old woman appeared before him he couldn't hear anything that was happened but after they talked she walked over to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead after a few minutes Izuku's arm had healed but now he was exhausted, quickly after his arm was fixed he made his way back home Toga helping him as he felt like he was about to pass out but as soon as he got in his room he was out like a light.
Flashback end.
As Izuku remembered his first experience he shuddered at the thought of his first usage of the quirk hoping that something like that never happens again but he had a feeling it was going to anyway even if he didn't want it to.
As the two teens left All Might to go home for the night, they walked for about 20 minutes before they noticed something was burning, they could smell it, and it didn't smell like a small flame it was an inferno, as they made their way to the burning, they saw a building alight with flames, people were running out trying to escape the burning death trap as a group left through the front door Izuku saw the wall behind them begin to crumb as the burning feeling from the other week sparked back up, then Izuku was gone, he was underneath the wall in a matter of seconds.
'Please work, Please don't break me'. He thought as he sent One for All through his arm he cocked it back about to swing at the wall, but before he got the chance he was out of the way of the wall and on the ground, he turned to check if the people behind him were safe, but lo and behold they were safe as well he turned to see if anyone was nearby that had saved them all.
As he looked his eyes passed a person in a pure white leotard with a crescent moon on the front facing him and black thigh highs but the most prominent way of identifying her was the rabbit ears sticking off the top of her head.
"Miruko!, The Number 6 Hero in Japan." Izuku freaked out at this because he was a big fanboy about anything heroes.
"What the hell was that kid?" Miruko cut the distance between the two in less than a second and was in his face being as aggressive as if she was when fighting villains.
"Well I wanted to use my quirk to save people even if that meant hurting myself more than normal people do when they use theirs, anyway I'm a big fan. Do you think I could get an autograph as my friend really likes… oh wait she's right over there let me go get he-" Izuku spoke faster than All Might could move and muttering to hell and back.
"Shut up kid you're muttering is annoying." Miruko spoke as bluntly as she appeared on the news.
"Why did you jump out there, you don't have a quirk license so even if you did save them you would've gotten in trouble." Miruko said towards the young green haired boy.
"I want to get into UA but I don't have control over my quirk so I was hoping I could get stronger in the middle of a life or death situation." Izuku replied, trying to hold back his nervousness as much as possible.
As Miruko thought about what to say to him, she realized that she had seen him before, he was on the news about a week ago, she decided that she was going to help him get strong as she had seen him run in, and knew those movements weren't that of a normal kid, he was willing to sacrifice himself to protect them and she could respect that.
"Alright then, Watch me." she replied simply as she threw a card toward the young kid.
"Huh." Izuku replied, confused and slightly taken aback by what Miruko was saying, was she offering to train him, if she was, Why, she doesn't work with anyone, hell she thinks other heroes are weak so she does everything by herself.
"I said watch me, kid tomorrow come around to my office and i'll help you to get stronger." Miruko said, looking at him as she was about to hop away.
"Wait, why, why are you offering to help me." Izuku asked before she could get away.
She stopped and turned around to face the young teen.
"Because i saw you running into that situation you said that you were just trying to get stronger but that was a lie you didn't even think about it you were in between the wall and the people faster than someone like you should be." Miruko replied as she turned back away and jumped leaving the teen by himself until Toga finally ran down to him to see what had happened to him and just catching a glimpse of the dark skinned hero.
"W-w-w-w-was t-t-t-t-that m-m-m-m-Miruko?" the blonde fangirl managed to stutter out.
"Yeah, yeah it was and I think she offered to help me." Izuku said to the blonde teen who in turn broke down from the sudden information.
Izuku carried her back to his place when he arrived he put her down on the couch, luckily his Mum wasn't home as she was at work so he wouldn't have to answer any questions.
Hours later he pulled out his phone and called All Might and told him about the offer and the only thing All Might could say.
"Young Midoriya, it's midnight. You have school tomorrow so go to sleep." so Izuku did exactly as All Might told him too.
The next day he woke up, did his daily routine and went to school with Toga. Everything was normal, the rumours still followed those two around like a bad smell.
They went to meet All Might right after school to talk about the offer Miruko gave to Izuku. As they arrived he told All Might all about what had happened in vivid detail.
"So should I take the offer or not?" Izuku asked All Might as if it wasn't the most obvious thing in the world.
"Hell yeah you should, think about it. I can only give you quirk training for about 3 hours a day apart from that I can do normal training with you but you do that anyway I'm not needed for that." All Might said.
"Yeah and I can stay with All Might and get training with a combat staff." Toga said as she readied the combat staff but Izuku could swear he saw All Might flitch at the girl.
So Izuku took their advice and made his way toward Miruko's hero office in hopes of training. As he arrived he took out the card and began to call the number on it. He stood there and waited for someone to pick up.
"Hello you've contacted Miruko's hero agency what's the problem." the voice spoke like she didn't want to be there.
"Hi yes i spoke to Miruko yesterday and she gave me a card with a number to call." Izuku said, trying to be as polite as possible despite the groggy voice that had picked up the call.
"Oh you're the green haired kid right, Nice, you near the agency or you just calling for the fun of it." Miruko perked right up and joked.
"Um, I'm right outside the building." Izuku said timidly.
"Of course you are, alright just ring the buzzer and come on up to the top floor, i'll be waiting for you." Miruko said the last bit in a teasing voice.
Izuku got red faced by the way she said she'll be waiting, he walked on over to the buzzer regaining his composure as he went, he reached the button and pressed down on it only to be met with the normal ringing after a few seconds of this the sound changed to a high pitched noise as the doors opened he walked in and made his way up the stairs of the empty building as he continued going up he saw a door with light leaking through he walked up and opened it to reveal the dark skinned hero stretching in front of him as he walked in the signature smile gracing her face.
"Come on in kid!" she yelled at him, he flinched at her sudden shouting but before he got a chance to say anything back she placed her arm up in a defensive way.
Skipping all the introductions and going right to the point. "Go on, hit me with the full power of your quirk." she said as bluntly as possible Izuku looked at her like she was insane and for the most part he was right.
"No." Izuku replied as she looked at him with disappointment.
"Why not?" she replied like a child who's toy is refusing to work.
"Because using it breaks me." Izuku admitted that he can't even use it without injury.
"Have you tried decreasing the amount of power you use?" Miruko questioned.
"Yeah but even when I hold back as I swing my arm it just shoots to 100." Izuku said back to the pro.
Miruko looked at him as she tried to figure out how to help him.
"By the way I meant to ask if you have any workers." Izuku asked the pro hero.
"Yeah I've got one worker but she's sick at the moment due to the rain yesterday." Miruko said, trying to skip past all the boring stuff.
"Alright let's think on It, patrol time!" Miruko exclaimed toward the teen.
"Wait but you don't even know my name yet!" Izuku yelled, she quickly turned on her feet to face him
"ohhh yeah, I knew i forgot something" She said trying to keep her voice down "Alright well what's your name then kid!" and right back to yelling.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya." Izuku said, a bit disheartened because of her lack of care.
"Cool, the name's Rumi Usagiyama, but you can call me Miruko!" she said with a smile on her face.
"Now let's go on a patro!l" Miruko shouted at the teen.
As they walked around the people in the area looked at them in a weird way, namely at Izuku as it continued through all the streets the answers to all his questions came in the form of someone that knew Miruko.
"Hey Miruko out catching villains again?" a shop owner said while looking at Izuku.
That answered all his questions. They thought he was a villain who got beaten by Miruko.
"Actually he ain't a villain, he's my temporary sidekick." Miruko said toward the shop owner who's jaw dropped at what he just heard Miruko the hero who refuses to work with anyone had a sidekick and not just any sidekick this kid looked like he was in middle school the shop owner became slightly nervous at this, this kid was in middle school and Miruko already saw him as worthy to work with.
As they continued the patrol Miruko stopped. Izuku looked at her as he saw her take a few breaths and she looked straight forward, her ears now perked up at the sound of something Izuku couldn't hear.
"Come on kid there's a fight nearby." Miruko shouted at Izuku as she blasted off toward the fight leaving Izuku to try to catch up to the hero.
As he arrived the villain was already dealt with, Miruko looked toward Izuku.
"Took your time huh kid." she said, mocking him for being slow.
As they made their way back to the agency by the time they got there Izuku was exhausted.
"Rest kid, we've got a lot to do tomorrow." Miruko said toward Izuku which the teen found terrifying but he had to ask.
"Um Miruko, how long are we gonna do this? I mean how long are you gonna help?" Izuku asked nervously.
A massive grin appeared on her face as she looked at him "Until UA at the very least I'm gonna get you in that school." She said completely confident that Izuku had the potential to get in.
Tears began to well up in his eyes as he shot them back down before they could leak out. "Thank you." he said as the day ended he went back home and told Toga everything.
3 Days had passed since that night and Izuku was hurt everywhere. Her training was harder than anything he did to himself but he had learnt a lot too so it was a good trade as he continued training with her. They were out on patrol when suddenly she stopped, after an intense few days Izuku knew what that meant.
"Where." Izuku said toward the hero who then pointed in front of her. Izuku ran off in that direction as he felt a massive gust of wind pass him. He looked up to Miruko already in front of him.
As he arrived at the fight Miruko was still fighting which was odd. Normally she just beats the villain up super fast so this wasn't normal but still that smile never faded from her face even as she fought against someone who could hold their own.
As his arm stretched out and swung downward Miruko dodged to the right as she ran up in an attempt to strike at the villains head using his other arm he attacked her coming from the left as she was in the air she couldn't just dodge like she had been doing instead she extended her arm out toward the attack as soon she her hand touched the villains she attached herself to him and flipped around his arm as she kicked away from the villain making some distance between them.
As Izuku watched he remembered the words she told him on their first meeting "Alright then, Watch me." those word echoed in his head he had been watching her but he didn't learn anything it was only the things she taught him that helped him then it dawned on him while he had been just watching maybe that's not what she meant he thought about what he had just witnessed that's when it clicked she used her hand her quirk was in her legs so why did she use her hand a new idea appeared in his head.
As Miruko pushed the villain again in hopes to actually hit him he swung again this time coming from the right she jumped up dodging the attack as she ran toward the villain she heard the sound of something breaking behind her she turned around to a support beam be destroyed by the villain the people under the balcony were going to be crushed by it, she turned around fully as she launched herself toward the people she got grabbed by the leg pulling her back she couldn't free herself the people were going to die and there was nothing she could do about it, she didn't have the right to call herself a hero much less the number 6 in Japan, she couldn't even beat a two-bit villain and now she had to watch a group of people di-.
That thought got cut off by a spark of green lightning leaping over and catching the falling balcony before it could land. She could see Izuku covered by the lightning standing next to the people, a massive smile on his face as he let out these few words.
"No need to worry because I am here!" trying to copy All Might.
Unfortunately there was only one person smiling aside from him, Miruko watched him with a massive smile on her face watching how far he had come in just 3 days, now onto more pressing matters she turned toward the villain who was holding her and instead of fighting back pushed herself toward the villain who was already pulling her toward him, as she closed the distance between her and the villain she raised her leg and swung down on the villains head as she yelled.
"LUNA FALL!"
The villain's head fell hitting the concrete as he fell unconscious, his tongue rolled out of his head revealing it to be black, Miruko knew what that was.
"Trigger." Miruko said under her breath.
Another hero who appeared to help walked over to Izuku.
"Kid you're coming with me for illegal quirk usage." Deatharms one of the heroes from the sludge villain incident said to Izuku, as he reached out to Izuku in an attempt to restrain him he got stopped before he could even get close as Miruko groped Deatharms wrist, as he turned to face the number 6 hero she spoke up.
"He's with me." Miruko said in a serious tone.
"I find that hard to believe." Deatharms retorted, not backing down from one of the top ten heroes in Japan.
"I gave him express permission to use his quirk if he sees someone that he can protect." Miruko said keeping that serious tone in her voice slightly threatening toward the other hero, Deatharms was pissed he lost twice to this kid in the matter of a month.
As Izuku and Miruko made their way back to the agency no words were exchanged between the two but as soon as they arrived in the two yelling in happiness that Izuku had finally been able to use his quirk without damaging himself as they continued to cheer and celebrate they were cut off by a female voice.
"As loud as ever I see Rumi." a voice said coming from a corner of the room. Izuku looked over to see a woman standing there with a rather calm expression on her face as she spoke.
"Yumi, so glad you're finally better." Miruko exclaimed as she walked over to her friend.
"Yeah yeah nice to see you too, who's this?" the woman now named Yumi asked Miruko as she pointed over to Izuku.
"Oh he's my sidekick." Miruko said pride bursting out in her voice.
"Phahahahaha." Yumi started laughing like she just heard the funniest thing in the world Miruko looked almost offended.
"Oh my god, that's the funniest thing you've ever said to me." Yumi said as her laughter died down "Okay but really who is he?"
"He's my sidekick Yumi." Miruko said it again, slightly more serious in her tone of voice.
Yumi looked at her and then looked at Izuku and then back at Miruko repeating this action a few more times before finally stopping and looking at Miruko after about 3 seconds of looking at her boss, Yumi broke down into tears.
"Oh my god You've finally grown up this is the best day of my life." Yumi said, hugging Miruko as the tears flowed down her face.
"Quit the waterworks." Miruko said as her pride beamed back up.
"Okay." Yumi suddenly stopped crying and at that moment all of Miruko's pride shot out of her.
Yumi walked over to Izuku to see what he was like.
"Nice to meet you." Yumi said as she extended her hand over to the teenager.
"Izuku Midoriya." he said as he took her hand and gave it a good shake.
"My name's Yumi Nemuri." the woman said, catching Izuku off guard.
"Wait Nemuri as in?" before he could even finish that sentence Yumi cut him off.
"Yes Nemuri, as in Midnight's name, I'm her little sister." Yumi said, sounding slightly annoyed by the fact "Anyway you can just call me Yumi everyone does."
"Okay you can call me Izuku." he replied.
"Alright well Izuku what's your quirk." Yumi asked, trying to see what Miruko finds so interesting about the boy.
"Uhhhhhhhhh it's a strengthening quirk." Izuku managed to say without stuttering.
"One that breaks his bones whenever he uses it" Miruko shouted out toward the teen and her friend "Ain't that cool."
Yumi looked pissed off by what Miruko said.
"Cool? A child breaks his bones whenever he uses his quirk and you call it cool!" as Yumi said that Izuku could swear he smelt something that he couldn't quite pin as that thought passed through him fear filled him but he didn't know why.
He turned over to see Miruko just as scared as he was, his eyes wide as she stared at her friend.
"H-h-h-h-h-h-h-hey no ne-need to us-us-use your quirk." Miruko said, trying to calm down her friend.
The look in Yumi's eyes was intense as she looked the two in the eyes, then suddenly the smell went away as the fear left them.
"At least you're helping him right?" Yumi said, the lingering threat still in her voice.
"Yep." Miruko said, trying to keep her friend calm.
Before any more words were exchanged a ping on Miruko's phone signaled that someone needed help, upon seeing this she turned to face Izuku "Come on kid let's go." Miruko said with a sense of urgency in her voice as she ran toward the door Izuku quickly behind her.
As Yumi watched her friend run off with the green haired teen behind her, she was happy for her friend seeing how much she had changed in all these years.
