Title: The Hokage's Wife
Summary: When Sakura awakened, she found herself in another world as the Hokage's Wife–-a mere nuisance to him. Knowing that divorce was awaiting her due to the memories of herself in this world, she slept and ate all day while waiting for divorce. Unfortunately, things start to unravel faster than she expected.
Naruto was impressed, maybe a little surprised at the ease, and familiarity Sakura displayed moving around the lab. He was curious about this teacher of hers and ordered his men to investigate his wife, but unfortunately, they came up with nothing. She was pretty much ignored by all and he was to blame for mostly such a thing because normally the wife of the Hokage should have a personal guard but he would rectify that soon.
He silently moves to another position to get a better look at the pinkette. His eyes slowly roamed over her body which looked fitter than before. His eyes stopped at hair, which he would admit to himself, was the most fascinating about her. He wondered how it felt to run his hand through the silky tresses.
"Dammit!" Naruto cursed, pushing back his treacherous thoughts. He couldn't believe he was having such thoughts about the traitor's daughter. He was merely interested in her secrets.
"How are you so knowledgeable, Sakura?" He heard Ino ask her and he tuned in to hear her answer.
"I had a great teacher." She simply replied, disappointing him.
"Hmm, I don't like you but maybe we can become work friends?" Ino offered with a smirk.
Sakura laughed, smiling broadly. "You intend to get my knowledge from me, huh?"
"Why, of course." Ino chuckles, glancing at him, "Your husband delivered you to my cave after all."
Sakura sent him a glance, a smile playing on her lips. "He really did…."
Naruto shrugged.
"Anyway," Ino rolls her eyes at his response, "I never encountered such a poison before. Everything I know about poisons is mostly self-taught..."
"That explains a lot of things.." Sakura teased.
Ino huffed, folding her arms. "Not all of us had a great teacher!"
Sakura giggles before taking up a clean beaker. "Some poisons are really complex, and therefore creating an antidote will require careful attention, or else it could potentially kill the victim. The one used on our Hokage is really complex, and you must have extensive knowledge of poisons and herbs"
Naruto for the first time was deeply invested in what Sakura was telling him. He was so used to ignoring her but now that she changed, he was forced to look at her now. He was impressed by her clear knowledge of poisons. The more he found out about her the more he got enlightened. He could see her being the next Head of the Hospital.
The thought of strangely didn't bother him much, however, if he did such a thing a target would be placed on her back. If her medical knowledge was indeed vast then she would change the shinobi world forever. He wondered if she knew the power she held right now.
Medical Shinobi were very rare and to find a good one was even rarer. Sakura, his wife, could be the cause of wars due to her skill. Others would want her for their own, going as far as infiltrating the village. The blonde smirked, enjoying the thought of destroying whoever challenges his village.
Sakura glanced at Naruto, seeing him smirk as he watched her. His entire aura unnerved her sometimes but she grew excited, wanting to know more about this Naruto that was so vastly different from the one she knew. She shook her head, refocusing her efforts on the antidote. When she was finished, she had enough antidotes for at least fifty people.
"Alright, the antidote is finished." Sakura wiped her forehead, removing the accumulated sweat.
"Sorry, I couldn't help but now I know a lot more." Ino genuinely smiled at Sakura, "you know...if things were a lot different we could have grown up being best friends."
Sakura looked up at Ino in surprise and then happily smile. "I definitely agree." She would agree one hundred times over because the blonde woman had been one of her best friends for a long. She even confided to the woman about her marriage to Sasuke and she was super supportive of her.
"Ino, keep the antidotes safe," Naruto walked up to them, linking his arms with hers, " I am going to take my wife home to rest."
Sakura protested. "Naru-"
Sakura blinked rapidly. "to?"
They were already back at home in their living room. Sakura sighed and slowly pulled away from her arm from the larger man. "Please, warn me next time!" She snapped.
Naruto chuckles, looking her up and down. "I enjoy seeing you mad."
Sakura rolled her eyes, not bothering to answer him. However, she wanted an answer to something she had been wondering about. "Naruto, if you can move so fast...why did you allow yourself to be poisoned?"
Bringing his hand to her face, he pushed her hair behind her ear, leaning closer to her. "Because, if they want me dead...why not let them at least attempt before I kill them?" He whispered, his closeness sending chills down her back.
She stepped back swiftly, putting distance between them, with a bit of redness marring her cheeks. "You really believe you're that powerful?" She said, hoping to get a rise out of him.
Naruto laughs, his eyes turning red instantly. "Believe?" He asked in disbelief, "Wife, I know I'm that powerful." He grinned, showing his canine teeth.
Sakura stared him down, silently observed his expressions, mannerisms, and emotions. She knew that mental health wasn't a strong suit of hers, but she did open a mental health facility for children back in her old world. She realized that his eyes only turned red when bouts of intense emotion were present and it was definitely related to the Kyuubi.
"What?" Naruto questioned with a smile, his eyes turning back to blue, "Are you not going to try to provoke me like you have been recently doing?"
Sakura wasn't surprised that he noticed. "How am I ever going to get you to divorce me?" Sakura shot back before walking past him, and into the bedroom.
Naruto watched her go, his blue eyes never leaving her. He still hated her, he could feel it deep down, but why were his thoughts lingering on how soft her hair was? Naruto shook his head and disappeared.
Sakura prepared herself for bed by soaking in the rose oil bath the maid prepared for her, moisturizing her skin, and brushing her bed. She was slightly surprised at how much time had passed while she was in the lab with Ino. She walked out onto the balcony and watched the moonlight shine down upon the lively city
"I hope everyone is doing well.." She whispered, reminiscing about the people she left behind. She didn't know what happened to her body, but for the worst-case scenario, she hoped everyone would move on. She walked back to her bed, turning in for the night.
Her eyes snapped open, her ears picking up on a sound she was familiar with. She rolled off the bed, bringing the bedsheet with her, and coating it with chakra. She swiped the chakra-coated sheet through the air, knocking away the lethal rain of senbon, sending them to the ground. Her eyes locked onto the hunched figure on her balcony, and she instantly knew who it was.
She reacted before another shower of senbon was sent towards her. A chakra-filled fist connected with the bed, flipping it on its side. She channeled chakra into her feet – hearing the senbon tear into the expensive bed – and dashed from behind the bed.
"The one time Naruto doesn't tell his ANBU to watch me I get attacked," Sakura muttered as she cart-wheeled across the bedroom floor expertly, either dodging or knocking away the senbon with the sheet. She planted her feet horizontally on the wall, sticking to it with chakra, and running across it with her eyes locked onto Sasori.
She threw away the sheet and her hands flashed through hand signs as another rain of senbon flew at her. "Ninja Art: Chakra Skin" Her chakra spread across her skin rapidly like a second skin. She launched herself from the wall, doing a side-flip, landing on the carpeted floor.
She gathered excess chakra in her feet within seconds of landing and dashed towards the man in a burst of speed, the ground beneath her caving in from the force. The onslaught of poisoned senbon hit her head on, bouncing off of her chakra skin harmlessly.
She raised her chakra-filled fist, watching his tail shoot out towards her abdomen. She made no effort to dodge, letting the tail slice through her chakra skin. She brought her chakra fist down on the puppet with great force.
BOOM!
The entire bedroom exploded in a fury of dust and debris. Sakura, wearing only in her nightgown, flew out from the dust cloud, following Sasori. She landed on the ground, hard, dashing towards the puppet user with fists and feet blazing with chakra.
He retreated quickly, whipping out metal blades that acted like wings, and flew across the roofs of the house. The giant scroll on his back started to glow and unravel. He turned to face her, as puppet after puppet shot out of the scroll, filling the skies with his puppet army, and the last puppet to emerge was the Kazekage.
"I don't want to deal with the pesky iron sand, so time to end this quickly!" Sakura thought as she ran through hand signs. She could sense multiple chakra signatures coming towards her position, however, she didn't want them to interfere. Call her cocky, but she wanted to see how she measured up to the Akatsuki member she defeated before with help from Chiyo.
She brought a hand to her mouth, her fingers forming an "o" over her mouth. "Water Release: Misty Blossoming Prison." Sakura released a stream of blue sparkling mist from her mouth that spread quickly through the air.
"You think that can stop me?" Sasori laughed as he ordered his puppets to attack her.
When the blue mist came in contact with all of the puppets they started dropping one by one like flies. Sasori was alarmed and tried to move his puppets but they weren't moving at all. His chakra strings were still attached so why?
"What the-" Sasori uttered, watching as the affected puppets sprouted blue sparkling flowers that looked like water. He tried to run away but was frozen in his position, unable to move an inch. His Kazekage puppet fell to the ground, and then he was next. "What is the meaning of this?" He never encountered something like this.
Sakura walked through the trove of puppets and knelt down by the human puppet. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
He would never admit it, but it was beautiful, and he was sure that Deidara would have agreed. However, he was infuriated that he was taken down so easily by someone who was supposed to be weak. The information he was given was completely wrong.
"It's a little technique I created that is heavily based around medical ninjutsu and ninjutsu. It affects humans by hijacking the percentage of water in their body, making them lose all bodily functions, and absorbing the water in their body until it causes dehydration. However, it also hijacks the chakra system and absorbs the chakra. The bigger the flower, the closer to death you are, as it drains you of nothing."
Sakura giggles, tapping his forehead lightly, watching as a blue sparkling flower blooms on his body. Sasori was incensed and imagined a thousand ways that he wanted to kill the girl. However, when he sensed a massive chakra signature show up, followed by multiple others he completely banished those thoughts.
Sakura thought about what to do with the missing-nin. However, her thoughts were stopped when a large coat was placed over her. She looked up from her position, her emerald greens clashing with flaming red ones. Sakura wasn't surprised that he was here but still she asked.
"Husband, you're here?"
"I found my wife barefooted, in her nightgown, and fighting for her life against a missing-nin so of course, I would come." He said, glancing at Sasori on the ground.
Sakura sent him a look before standing up. "I was hardly fighting for my life."
Soon enough, Sasuke showed up with his brother; Itachi, and his cousin; Shisui, and a band of Uchiha. "Sakura did this?!" Sasuke exclaimed, looking at the sparkling flowers.
Sakura barely sent Sasuke a glance before her eyes found Itachi and Shisui. "How can people be so beautiful? Just what is this world?!" Sakura screamed inwardly, looking at both men who were even more beautiful than Ino. She couldn't imagine what Haku would look like...
"Yes, Sakura has surprisingly captured an Akatsuki member for us," Naruto smirks, looking at the pinkette.
"I didn't know that Sakura-san had such skills. Truly enlightening." Itachi commented with a gleam in his eye.
"Sakura-san is truly a mystery." Shisui simply smiled before looking at Sasori, "So he turned himself into a human puppet? How does he have sex?!"
Sasuke sputtered. "That is not important!" Sasuke shouted, "What are we going to do with him?"
"I have an idea," Sakura said, surprising the men around her. She bent down and yanked out the container from Sasori's chest and held it up.
"What is that thing?" Sasuke asked, looking at the container that had protruding veins and root-like stems.
"This is his heart," Sakura replied with a grin, "Instead of killing him, we should transplant it into something harmless, like a teddy bear."
"What-"
"Good idea," Naruto grinned, agreeing with her, "We will do like she says."
Everyone was shocked by his response, including Sakura. "Are you-" Sasuke started but was cut off by Itachi.
"As you wish, Hokage-sama," Itachi replied, sending Sasuke a look, telling him not to disagree with the Hokage.
"I shall take my wife home as the night is cold," Naruto said, taking the container from Sakura and throwing it at Itachi.
"Handle it with care, Naruto!" Sakura cursed, glaring at the blonde who wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Report to my office tomorrow morning," Naruto told them before vanishing with Sakura in his arms.
When Sakura reappeared in the living room she was pushed into a chair with a sword pressed against her neck. Sakura wasn't surprised, unfortunately, she expected this but not so soon. She looked down at the sword that drew her blood.
"What is the meaning of this, husband?" Sakura said in a leveled voice, before raising her head. She looked Naruto dead in the eye, showing no fear, which completely confused him.
"Who are you?" Naruto grinned, showing off his violent and sadistic nature.
Sakura sighed, blinking lazily at the blonde. "I am your wife, Sakura Uzumaki." He was already questioning her identity but it would be impossible for him to find out her true origins even with a skilled Yamanaka available because of her natural mental defense.
"Do you wish to take revenge on the village for your parents?" Naruto smirks, "Is that why you were hiding your skills so deeply? I should cut your throat open right now and be done with you."
Sakura had no idea what her parents had done so how could she take revenge."Revenge? No, not at all. Want to kill me? Go ahead," Sakura smiled, "However, the real question is that you knew from the beginning that I was going to be attacked, didn't you? You were watching the entire fight."
He was silent for a moment before answering. "Yes, I could have ended that trash the moment he and that woman stepped foot in the village," He ran a hand through his hair, slicking it back, leaving a few strands falling in his face, "I wanted to see what my wife would do, and she didn't disappoint, surprisingly."
Sakura was calm on the outside but on the inside, she was burning with anger. This was the first time she actually got angry since she arrived in this world. She wasn't angry that he didn't intervene but angry at the treatment her counterpart continuously received. If it was her counterpart here and not her, then...
Sakura closed her eyes, taking deep breaths."I'm sorry," Sakura apologized to her counterpart, once again. When she arrived in this world, she found herself in the bedroom with an empty bottle of tablets in her hand. She avoided thinking about how her counterpart killed herself because she couldn't take the taunts, insults, abuse, and his, indifference.
She wanted nothing to do with the life of the other Sakura and maybe that was very selfish of her. She could no longer ignore everything. She had to do right by the other Sakura, by herself. She wouldn't take revenge on the village because that was just not her.
However, she vowed to find out the truth about her parents, divorce him, and leave the village. It was the least she could do for her counterpart who used to be so full of life despite her challenges. When she achieves these things only then she would feel contentment. This Naruto would never measure up to the one she knew, she knew that now, and she felt horrible for even comparing them.
Sakura opened her eyes. "Naruto," Sakura said, making Naruto raise an eyebrow at how deathly calm she was. "We need to get a divorce. This, whatever it is between us, is never going to work out. Clearly, you hate me, and I think that…..I'm starting to dislike you too."
Naruto didn't know why his chest hurt at her words but he laughed loudly, removing the sword from her neck. "The feeling is mutual, wife, but I intend to keep you around until…..I know everything about you."
Sakura wiped the blood from her neck. "Then, how about you ask me one question and I ask you one?" Sakura proposed, healing her cut without touching it.
Naruto watched in fascination as neck injury healed and wondered what other skills she had up her sleeve. "Why hide your skills?"
"Is that what you really want to know?" Sakura questioned, and he nodded. She couldn't tell him the actual truth, so a lie easily spilled out of her lips, however, the words she was about to say were truthful for the other Sakura. "I wanted to surprise and impress you. I became stronger just for you but what did I exactly gain in return? Your hate, disgust, and indifference."
Naruto, for the first time, was left speechless. She had gotten strong because of him? He….actually could believe it. He felt uncomfortable and quickly changed the subject. "Ask me your question." He murmured, averting his now blue eyes.
"Your eyes switch between blue and red when you have intense emotion. Is this because of the nine-tailed fox inside of you?" Sakura asked, causing Naruto to smirk.
"You finally want to know?" Naruto asked, confusing Sakura, "You told me you didn't want to know before. You're legally my wife so you should know."
Sakura searched her memories and was surprised that there was a conversation similar that occurred. "You can tell me."
Naruto sat down from across her, his now red eyes gleaming, as he threw up a defense ward, and silencing jutsu in the room. "The public knows that the fox was sealed inside me but that is far from the truth. The Third Hokage actually messed up the sealing jutsu and instead of the fox going inside of me….we became one entity."
Sakura didn't think the truth would be so horrible. This wasn't even in the realm of her thinking but it still explained many things. The pinkette was rendered speechless, unable to say anything as she stared at the man in front of her. Somehow, she managed to find her words again.
"A-are you even human…?" She asked, waiting for his response.
"You said one question, wife." Naruto wagged his finger in front of her.
Sakura bit her lip as she watched him stand up and walk over to her. She leaned further back into the chair as he leaned over. "Now that you know the truth, you can call me Kurama when we are alone, and Naruto in public, wife.."
Sakura planted a hand on his chest and pushed him away. "I am tired," She quickly said, "Where am I going to sleep?" The need to be alone was immense. She needed to digest the information she was given and she couldn't do around the subject of her distress.
Naruto called for the maid who immediately showed up at his call. "Yes, Master."
"Arrange another room for the Madame," Naruto told her before turning back to Sakura, "From now on you will have a personal guard to be around you at all times."
Sakura nodded, not putting up any sign of protest, and followed the maid to her new bedroom. She had a lot to think about out and how she would move forward from there.
Naruto watched her leave the room and fell back onto his sofa. He stared up at the ceiling, with a complicated look. Ever since she changed, there were conflicting emotions battling inside him. She was starting to do things to him, and he didn't like that.
When he was done finding out everything she knew, he would grant her the divorce as she wished. She would be finally out of his hair. Right?
Sneak Peek for Chapter 4:
"You dare put me in such a disgusting body?!" Sasori roared, pointing his stubby hand at Sakura.
"Be lucky you're not dead, Teddy-chan." Sakura smiled, watching as the teddy bear jump and down on Naruto's desk.
"You-"
Naruto grabbed Sasori by his head and brought him face to face with him. "Shut up or die." Naruto growled, causing him to go silent, "I could have kill right now for poisoning me and the only reason you are alive is thanks to my wife."
"Please don't, Hokage-sama," Itachi calmly said, "We still have to interrogate him."
Naruto clicked his tongue, throwing Sasori at Sakura, who caught it with ease. "Make sure you don't lose it, wife," He turned to Itachi, "and I want a report by the end of the day."
Sasori wasn't meant to be a challenge for Sakura, to be honest, and just a sneak peek and how strong she had gotten before she transmigrated. Hope you all enjoy this chapter.
