Pilot Chapter

San Francisco. Once a brilliant, shining center of civilization. One of the leading cities in regards to the betterment of everyday life, in light of... unfortunate changes across the globe.

It was once home... but not anymore.

Ren Asami stood before a glass barrier overlooking what remained of Sunset District, now reduced to a flaming mess by the disaster that had just befallen the city... It was not caused by some kind of earthquake or storm, no. This destruction was brought on by something... worse.

"Ren, can you hear this?" A calm, almost motherly female voice sounded in Ren's ear via the comm device he wore. In response, he pressed a finger to it, a signal that he received the message clearly. The voice continued.

"We've secured coordinates on the target. You're to head roughly eleven kilometers northeast of your current position, likely around Chinatown or the Financial District." The woman on the other end explained.

"Got it." Ren answered with as calm a voice as he could muster, no doubt shaken by the sight of his hometown's ruins. He turned away from the window, his gaze resting on the interior that he stood in. It was a cockpit, sporting an advanced control apparatus in which he could lock his arms and legs for the purpose of controlling the machine that it resided in.

On each side of the mechanism were various consoles and holographic monitors featuring schematics, status bars, communication windows... and one screen in particular denoting the specifics of the machine Ren was preparing to operate, dominated by the three dimensional image of a humanoid robot.

Jet Jaguar. Humanity's greatest weapon against an onslaught of titanic creatures. It was a colossal, mechanized titan designed to battle one thing...

Kaiju, the ancient rulers of the planet, having risen to dominate it once again.

Ren had been specially trained to pilot the mecha in battle against the Kaiju, hopefully preventing a massive loss of life... Not that efforts were very successful. Destruction was inevitable in the face of the monsters.
And now... they had made it personal by attacking Ren's home, reducing it to a burning ruin, leaving family and old friends wounded or dead. Ren had lost much in just this one attack, and now he was left with one thing left that truly mattered to him-

"The hell is taking so long, dumbass!? Get moving and beat that monster's ass before I come out there and do it for you!" A harsh voice suddenly rang out over the comms, prompting a smirk from Ren.
Kei was always the more short-tempered of the two, being the younger sibling. She always seemed to have a problem with whatever her older brother did... But Ren would still do absolutely anything to keep her safe.

"Okay, okay." Ren answered with a soft chuckle. "You just make sure to get to sleep on time, alright sis? Don't make trouble for Ms. Serizawa."

"It's alright, Ren." The woman from before, Akeno Serizawa, said in response. The sound of Kei letting out a huff as she stepped back could also be heard. "I'm sure Kei wishes to see this mission to the end. It's important to the both of you, after all."

"Right…" Ren answered quietly. His expression hardened, and he finally stepped up to the mecha's control apparatus. After running a hand through his short, silvery-white hair, he began locking in, placing his hands and feet into the designated slots and leaning back into the seat. As he settled in, the metal casing around his limbs closed and locked into place, with small plugs inside connecting to corresponding plug-ins built into his pilot suit. Soon after, similar parts lowered from above and locked onto his shoulders, and another pair locking to his thighs.

Once locked in, Ren was alerted to a loud chime that signaled the connection with the mecha synchronizing. He lifted a hand in front of his face, and half a second later, the viewport in front of him was dominated by a massive mechanical hand. Ren clenched his fist, and the giant fingers of the mecha's hand followed suit.

"Synchronization confirmed." Ren declared to himself. "Moving toward the target location."

He took one step forward, his previous words now reinforced by the heavy thud of Jet Jaguar's foot stamping down on the ground. Ren took another step, followed by another thud, and then another.
Jet Jaguar continued to stride over the ruins of Sunset District at a steady pace, its course set for Chinatown...

"Do you really think he'll be okay...?" Kei asked, her arms crossed as she nervously watched the large screen that dominated the back wall of the mission control room.

All around the room, various staff were either operating monitors , almost frantically rushing in and out of the room with documents of various importance, or watching the mission play out on the main screen.

Standing next to her, Akeno Serizawa offered a warm smile, taking a hand out of her lab coat pocket to place it reassuringly on Kei's shoulder. There was genuine sympathy in her gentle green eyes as she met Kei's gaze.

"Ren is strong." Akeno answered. "You know that better than anyone here."

"...But what if something goes wrong...?" Kei's worried tone remained, her silvery-blue eyes laced with concern.

"He'll be okay." Akeno assured. "The two of you were selected specifically because you're able to react to unforeseen situations. You and Ren were trained for this."

"..." Kei worried silence was her answer, as she returned her gaze to the screen, which depicted the mecha's point of view as it trudged across the city.

In the half hour that had passed since Ren began his trek, he'd already crossed the center of the city, and was closing in on the designated location, the skyscrapers that were once on the horizon now coming into clearer view.

And that was when they saw it.

Perched atop the Transamerica Pyramid was what looked to be a figure, it's details obscured by the rising sun as it crested over the skyline. As Jet Jaguar began to close in, however, the figure's shape began to come into proper view...

Ren's gaze remained fixed on the silhouette as he drove Jet Jaguar closer, his eyes narrowing with realization as he finally saw the creature for what it was.

The kaiju looked to be roughly four hundred feet in length, with the majority of its length being attributed to the long, scaly tail that represented nearly half of the creature's full body. The beast had an almost rectangular shaped head, with visible interlocking teeth and a slight underbite. Its body was lean, with long arms and legs that suggested an agile creature. Several rows of huge, jagged spikes of a teal hue protruded from its back, tapering out down the middle of the tail's length excluding the small row that crowned the last third of the tail. Its back was a mottled navy blue color, fading into a lighter grey at the shoulders and extending down to the underbelly.

As the kaiju finally took notice of the approaching mecha, it turned its gaze toward it, its fiery eyes narrowed in primal fury. Cleary, it didn't enjoy the intrusion.

"Ms. Serizawa." Ren started over the comms. "Need details on this one."

"You're facing a species of kaiju that evolved to emulate some of the traits of Godzilla." Akeno's voice sounded in response. "While not particularly strong compared to other kaiju, they are extremely agile, and make good use of high vantage points like skyscrapers. To add, they are great at digging tunnels to travel underground, and are skilled swimmers."

"Wonderful." Ren muttered. "What do we call this one?"

"Zilla." Akeno answered. "Be careful, Ren. These kaiju are capable of asexual reproduction, and their broods can be massive. Based on how long it's been in the city, the young shouldn't be a risk yet, but don't let your guard down."

"Gotcha." Ren let out a determined huff. "Alright, let's see what this overgrown iguana is all about."

Shadowing Ren's actions in the cockpit, Jet Jaguar brought its hands up in a protective stance as it slowed its approach. Standing in the middle of Chinatown, the mecha now stood roughly five hundred meters away from the perched kaiju, which was still atop the Transamerica Pyramid, glaring intensely at the intruder. The Zilla let out a low hiss as it leaned forward slightly to get a better look at its challenger. While both itself and the mecha stood at roughly two hundred feet in height, the huge reptile still had the weight advantage. As Jet Jaguar continued to approach, the kaiju's dorsal spikes began to pulse with a neon green glow, a deep growl rumbling in its throat as its grip around the tip of the tower tightened with its growing agitation.

"Ms. Serizawa...?" Ren questioned, his expression one of concern. "You didn't mention breath."

"Don't worry. It's just an intimidation display." Akeno answered. "If we detect any major change in radiation levels, we'll notify you immediately."

"Well, that's comforting." Ren replied with a half smirk, though his tone suggested sarcasm. Seeing as the intimidation display had not sent the intruder running, the Zilla finally opted to climb down from its perch, hopping onto another, shorter building. Using the buildings as platforms, the giant lizard began stalking toward the mecha, a malicious gleam in its fiery gaze.
Jet Jaguar responded in kind, careful moving forward as the Kaiju closed in.

"Here we go…" Ren muttered under his breath, steeling himself for the imminent fight.

Akeno and Kei turned as the automatic doors at the room's entrance slid open, giving way for a man that could have appeared neater if not for his inherent laziness.

He had dirty blonde, shaggy hair accompanied by a light stubble adorning his face. He wore a grey button-up shirt, a pair of brown slacks, and black dress shoes. Similarly to Akeno, he wore a white lab coat over his attire.

As for Akeno, she wore a green sleeveless turtleneck and a black miniskirt with a small split on the left side, as well as dark, transparent thigh highs and a pair of black heels. Kei wore a simple black hoodie and a pair of white sneakers over a pilot suit similar to Ren's.

"Have a good rest, Andre?" Akeno greeted, keeping a calm, welcoming demeanor about her despite the situation.

"About time you showed up…" Kei muttered, returning her attention to the main screen.

"Yeah, yeah…" Andre waved dismissively before yawning. "What about the kid? Has he gotten to San Francisco yet?"

Akeno gestured toward the screen, which displayed Jet Jaguar's point of view as it kept its gaze locked on the approaching Zilla. Andre's expression remained that of a tired, middle-aged weapons engineer as he watched the screen with seemingly minor investment. That wasn't to say he dismissed the seriousness of the situation, he was merely too tired to emote in any significant manner.

A moment later he walked over to where Akeno and Kei were standing, next to the main communication panel, and thumbed a switch.

"Ren, I expect that mech back here in one piece." Andre's voice declared over the comms. "I'm not doing overtime this week repairing it if I can help it."

"Yeah, sure…" Ren replied half heartedly, his attention focused on the opponent in front of him.

By now, the two were within range of one another, the Zilla peeking over the edge of the building in front of the mecha. The reptilian kaiju's tail flicked back and forth in anticipation as it seemed to be determining the best course of action, all while Jet Jaguar remained at the ready, arms up ready to defend against the creature's inevitable attack.

Before long, it finally came. With a shrill bellow, the Zilla leapt over Jet Jaguar onto the building opposite of its perch, then launched itself straight at the mecha with its claws outstretched. Jet Jaguar reacted quickly, whirling around and bringing its arms up as the kaiju almost instantly closed the distance between them. The force of the large reptile's weight crashing into it sent the mecha stumbling backwards, coming to a stop as its back hit the building behind it.

Ren gritted his teeth as the cockpit shook with the impact, but he remained determined. With a growl, he pushed forward. Jet Jaguar lurched forward to dislodge itself from the building, only to be stopped as the Zilla dashed forward, grabbing hold of one of the mecha's arms and chomping down on it.

Jet Jaguar struggled with the kaiju for a few seconds, attempting to wrestle free of the creature's grip as it thrashed its head back and forth in an effort to tear the mecha's arm off. Before long, however, the Zilla's attempt to readjust its hold allowed Jet Jaguar to wrench its arm free. Capitalizing on the chance to retaliate, the mecha quickly pulled the reptile closer, clamping its arms tightly around its neck in an iron grip.

The maneuver was immediately met with resistance as the Zilla thrashed and squirmed in the mechanical vise, clawing viciously at the metal plating on its back and shoulder.
Despite his firm hold, Ren could feel the kaiju gradually slipping free. With a grunt of effort, he pushed Jet Jaguar hard.

"Come on, dammit!" He barked in frustration, trying harder to keep his hold.

After a few more moments of struggle however, he finally gave up on holding the grip any longer. Twisting around, Jet Jaguar readjusted its hold, this time grabbing hold of the Zilla's head in one hand, and one of it's larger spikes in the other. After a few seconds of struggling to pull the Zilla forward, the mecha finally found success as it lurched forward, using the moment to lift the kaiju.
Ren let out a short battle cry as Jet Jaguar swung the huge lizard toward the nearest object, slamming it into a building with a thundering crash. The Zilla let out a high-pitched wail as it sank into the collapsing building, disappearing underneath the rubble while Jet Jaguar stumbled out of the way.

As the dust from the collapse began to clear, Ren took several moments to watch for any response from the kaiju buried underneath, ready to continue the brawl.
A tense silence followed while Jet Jaguar waited for any sign that the Zilla would burst out and attack again...

But it seemed that it would not come to pass, as the silence remained. Ren let out a quiet sigh of relief. The Zilla seemed to be down for now.

"Jet Jaguar to mission control." He spoke over the comms. "Target temporarily subdued. Initiating search for the nest."

"Acknowledged." Akeno's voice responded. "Remain on guard. There's no telling when it will regain its bearings."

Ren offered a silent nod, not that Akeno would've seen it, and continued onward. Jet Jaguar shuddered slightly as it began to move again, turning and taking steady, methodical steps toward the Financial District...

"Ma'am, would you come take a look at this?" One of the technicians spoke up, catching Akeno's stepped past Kei and Andre, coming over to the technician's station and taking a look over his shoulder at his monitor. On the holographic screen, a simplified overview map of San Francisco was displayed, with colored markers designating the positions of Jet Jaguar, the Zilla, and the estimated position of the Zilla's nest.

Akeno also noticed, however, a rather large marker drawing closer to the city from the west, coming from the pacific ocean. Before she could observe further however, another operator spoke up.

"Ma'am, we're picking up an increase in seismic activity in the east side of the city and around the bay!" The young female operator spoke, her eyes focused on her station's screen as she discerned details. "It may be originating from the Zilla nest!"

Akeno stood straight, turning a concerned gaze toward the main screen that depicted Jet Jaguar's point of view.
By now, the mecha had reached the edge of the target area, but had halted. Likely because of the rising tremors in the area.

"Ms. Serizawa." Ren's voice sounded over the comms. "I'm gonna assume that the Zilla dug its nest a little deeper than you expected?"

Akeno returned to the communication controls, thumbing the switch to reply. Before she could get a word out, however, something happened...

As Ren finished speaking, his attention focused on the monitor to his right that displayed his connection to mission control, the tremors around Jet Jaguar began to intensify.
Before he could react, Jet Jaguar jerked forward as something latched onto it, catapulting forward and slamming face first into California Street.

"What the fu-" Ren was cut off as something heavy slammed on top of Jet Jaguar's back.

A moment later, he heard the shrill cry of a Zilla.

Ren gritted his teeth, letting out a growl of effort as he pushed Jet Jaguar into action. In response, the mecha rolled onto its back to face its assailant, only to find that it wasn't the same Zilla.

This one was noticeably smaller, its dorsal spikes having a slightly different shape than that of the larger one. But Ren didn't have the time to be confused, cursing to himself as he moved to react quickly. Jet Jaguar swiftly shot an arm out, slugging the kaiju in the face before grabbing hold of its neck and shoving it off. Considering the fact that this one was almost half the size of its parent, throwing it wasn't particularly difficult.

Getting back to its feet, the mecha wasted no time in charging the downed zilla. Slamming one foot down as it came before the kaiju, Jet Jaguar's other foot came swinging in at full force, slamming into the reptile's side hard. The sharp sound of bones cracking, as well as the Zilla's panicked squirming and screeching that immediately followed, let Ren know that the kick had likely broken some ribs.

Despite that, he didn't let up.

Jet Jaguar raised its foot once again, then stomped down hard on the kaiju's face. As its head was slammed back into the rubble, the Zilla spat a dark red substance across the concrete. What looked to be a broken tooth also bounced off of the resting debris, coming to a rest next to a bent sight post at the side of the street. A third kick followed, this time targeting the creature's vulnerable leg. A loud snap followed as the kaiju's shin gave way, bending at an impossible angle that made it very obvious that the bone was done for.

The Zilla let out a high-pitched wail as it struggled to get free of the mecha's onslaught, to no avail. Jet Jaguar only continued pounding away at the Zilla, splattering splotches of crimson over itself and the surrounding street with each brutal punch and kick. Before long, the creature's struggles ceased, and it finally fell still.

Jet Jaguar stumbled back, a reflection of Ren as he hesitated for a moment. His gaze remained fixed on the now-deceased kaiju, its head now an unrecognizable red pulp.
He had no sympathy for the creature, considering how it was one of the monsters responsible for devastating his home... But he still had yet to come to terms with the sheer brutality that was required of him, these days.

Needless to say, Ren didn't enjoy returning from a mission drenched in kaiju gore.

With a quiet sigh, he steadied himself, and stood Jet Jaguar straight once more. He turned toward his original target, failing to notice the hole that the smaller Zilla had emerged from...

"REN, LOOK OUT-" Kei's voice blasted out over the comms, only to be interrupted as a much heavier force slammed into the mecha from behind.
Jet Jaguar spun around as it was sent tumbling back to the ground, and Ren caught sight of the attacker.

He'd neglected to check on the parent.

The adult Zilla didn't give the mecha a chance to get back to its feet, stamping its clawed foot down on its chest to pin it to the ground.
With Jet Jaguar unable to struggle free, the kaiju turned its head to the left, its eyes widening in what appeared to be horror as its gaze fell upon the remains of one of its offspring.

After a moment of shock and confusion, the adult's eyes screwed shut, a few barely visible tears leaking out from its tightly closed eyelids.

Ren's ears were then assaulted with the shrill, mournful cry of the grieving parent as it threw its head back in emotional agony. The very air vibrated with the wail, the distraught creature sounding as if its very heart were being torn out of its chest... As it very well may have been.

The Zilla's cries were soon answered as the ground around them began to shudder violently. Chunks of building and street were thrown to the air as multiple holes opened up in the ground, giving way to at least a dozen more of the kaiju's offspring, all similarly sized to the nearby corpse.
As its children gathered around, their gazes all falling upon Jet Jaguar, the adult Zilla lowered its head to meet the mecha's eyes, leaving Ren to stare into the fiery, hate-filled gaze of the enraged parent.

"Well... shit." Ren muttered.

Before Ren could think of something that could get him out of his predicament, the adult Zilla let out a piercing roar, ramming its claws into Jet Jaguar's chassis in a berserker rage, quickly bending and tearing up the mecha's armored only took a second for the offspring to follow suit, eagerly attacking the mechanical limbs as if they'd just received their first meal in weeks.

The pack thrashed and brutalized the mecha, loud metallic screeching alerting all witnesses to the fact that it wouldn't hold for very long...

Kei watched in horror as the screen displayed Ren's dire situation, unable to do anything but pray that something prevented the monsters from ripping Jet Jaguar and her brother to pieces in a blind fury.

"Wh-what can we even do...?" She questioned nervously, almost trembling at the thought of losing the only family she had left. She frantically gripped Akeno's arm, her eyes pleading, begging, for something to be done. "We... we have to help him! Ms. Serizawa, please!"

Akeno turned, gently taking hold of Kei's shoulders as she looked her in the eyes.

"We will." She said calmly, her demeanor only betrayed by the concern in her gaze. She turned her head toward one of the operatives. "Give the emergency backup team the signal. Prioritize the pilot's safety over everything."

The operator in question nodded, thumbing a switch and establishing a comm link with the aforementioned team.
Akeno returned her gaze to Kei, only to be pulled away again as the technician from earlier called out.

"Ma'am! I've got a reading on the unidentified marker!" He called out, prompting Akeno to walk over and see what he was seeing. As before, there were three markers indicating Jet Jaguar, the adult Zilla, and the nest. And now, there were a dozen more marking the adult's young. But the mysterious marker from earlier was now closer, having entered San Francisco Bay, and now held a size estimation.

"Estimated mass of… one hundred eighty thousand tons...?" Akeno muttered in thought. It didn't take long for the realization to hit her.
She quickly rushed over to the other operator, a new sense of urgency in her demeanor.

"Tell the extraction team to get there ASAP. We need to get Ren out of there NOW!" She demanded.

Ren let out a yell of fear and frustration as the Zilla pack continued to tear away at Jet Jaguar. They were relentless, ripping open the chassis, tearing off one of the mecha's arms and a leg. They were very close to bisecting the wrecked machine at the hip.

There was nothing he could do. At this point, his death was inevitable if the enraged kaiju didn't let up, and they clearly had no intention of sparing the mecha, or anything inside of it.
He was scared, needless to say. He didn't want to die. Not like this.

But now it seemed inevitable. Closing his eyes, he silently thought about Kei, and how she'd likely be reacting to the situation, frantically trying to find some way to help him…
It was time. He closed his eyes tighter as a chunk of Jet Jaguar's face was ripped away by the enraged adult Zilla, anticipating a gruesome death at any second...

But it didn't come.

One second, the monstrous lizard was peering into the hole it had the next, Ren couldn't hear anything, and all he could see was a blinding, brilliant blue light. The shockwave hit a split second later, causing the remains of Jet Jaguar to slide across the ruined street a short distance. Ren was thrown around in the control apparatus as the mecha shook violently with the movement, prompting a shout of pain. As the broken machine came to a grinding halt, Ren's gaze focused on the blue light. It was at the point that he realized...

It was a beam.

The adult Zilla let out a shriek of pain as the intense stream of blue energy collided with its body, sending it tumbling into a nearby building. The kaiju's offspring looked at their parent in confusion, then turned to see the source of the beam that had sent the larger creature tumbling.

By that time, Ren had pulled himself out of the control apparatus, and limped over to the hole in Jet Jaguar's face. He dared not step out fully, using what cover was left to watch the situation playing out before him. His eyes widened with shock at what he saw.

Just north of his position, a living monolith stood. A presence of absolute power, easily surpassing four hundred feet in height. Charcoal grey scales that hid a body packed with nothing but muscles which flexed with every movement. A massive, muscular frame, dominated by rows of impressive dorsal spines shaped like jagged stars protruding out of its back, from the base of its neck all the way down it's long and powerful tail.

The most striking feature, however, was the beast's reptilian face. Its lips bared to reveal huge, razor sharp teeth, a vicious snarl. And its eyes... They burned with an intelligence and fury that had no doubt come as a result of millions of years of age and battle...

There was no mistaking the titanic kaiju as it trudged forward through the buildings, the very earth trembling before its godly power...

"Godzilla…" Ren whispered breathlessly, a sinking feeling of dread filling his chest at the sight of earth's ancient king.

Rage. Pure, unadulterated rage.

That is what the king felt in response to this affront against his rule. The pretenders to his throne that dared to emulate him, now acted without his authority.

This foolishness would not go unpunished.

Godzilla bared his teeth in a display of his anger at the pretenders, and his dorsal spines pulsed neon blue in an intimidating display. By now, the largest of the enemies before him, the mother of the brood, had clawed her way out of the rubble that he'd sent it into. Yet another defiant effort, as he'd merely fired off a warning shot.

Godzilla took one mighty step forward, a small shockwave blasting out from where his foot landed. A great power welled up in his chest as he reared back. Then, heralded by a deep rumble that caused even the air to vibrate, the king let loose a great and terrible bellow, to be heard for many, many miles. The sheer power of the sound shook the surrounding buildings, and even destabilized the foundation of some, causing them to crumble before Godzilla's might.

The Broodmother briefly shrank back in fear, a frantic retreat only stopped by the fact that her offspring remained, and would be at the king's mercy should she abandon them. She swallowed her fear, taking a defiant step between her children and Godzilla. She dared to challenge the king with a fearsome roar of her own, her eyes and spikes taking on a neon green glow as she paced back and forth in anticipation.

Godzilla's eyes burned like fiery coals with his growing fury. This interloper's refusal to back down only infuriated him further.
The last straw had been pulled. The Broodmother would suffer for her insolence.

With a deep rumble rising in his chest, the king stomped forward, unleashing a second, thundering bellow that vibrated through the city. The Broodmother screeched her battle cry in reply, leaping onto the nearest building, then onto the next as she swiftly made her way toward the charging behemoth.

The two closed the distance in almost no time, the Broodmother initiating combat by leaping at Godzilla from a building that was nearly at eye level with the titanic kaiju. It was a foolish and predictable move, as one of Godzilla's huge, powerful arms quickly swung forward, slamming into the Zilla's side. The sheer strength behind the swing sent the opposing kaiju soaring into a nearby building. The Broodmother refused to stay down for long however, and she was quickly back on her feet, charging toward Godzilla once more.

Unfortunately for her, the king had foreseen the attempt.

As his opponent had regained her foot and moved to attack, Godzilla had already been turning around. Not even the Zilla's superior agility prepared her for the lightning-fast swing of Godzilla's massive tail. The sound that followed was not too difference from the crack of a whip as the huge length of muscle, scales, and spikes collided with the lunging Zilla.

She didn't stand a chance.

Seconds after the impact, the Broodmother's shattered body fell limply into a destroyed building. She was left barely alive, unable to crawl away as Godzilla approached to finish his work.
She struggled. She truly did... But it was for naught. Godzilla firmly grabbed hold of the Broodmother's jaws as she vainly fought back, weakly squirming in his grip as she whimpered and whined in fear and agony.

A deep, drawn out whirring noise echoed through the air as Godzilla's dorsal spines began to emit a bright blue glow, starting at the tip of the tail and gradually travelling up his back as the sound grew louder. As the glow rose up to his back, Godzilla's belly and chest could be seen glowing from the inside, rays of the brilliant light escaping through every crack and opening in his thick hide as it reached his head. Small gaps along his throat, as well as his eyes and nostrils, began to leak with what looked to be azure flames, and the glow on his back soon intensified into a flaming aura of blue energy.

With a cruel, malevolent growl, Godzilla forced the Broodmother's jaws wide open, and opened his own as they began to leak with the same frightening glow.

And now it was too late.

A deafening sonic boom split the air, and a shockwave blasted through the surrounding area as Goodzilla fired a massive column of radioactive energy straight down the helpless Zilla's throat.
The result was instant, as the Broodmother immediately fell limp. Seconds later, her throat gave out, and an explosive burst of atomic fire blasted out through the flesh. The limp body fell away from the head that remained in Godzilla's grasp, falling pathetically into the rubble. With the Zilla's death now confirmed, Godzilla closed his jaws and halted the stream of fiery death.

With one last, disgusted growl, Godzilla dropped the disembodied head to the ground... And then turned his gaze toward the offspring...

Akeno, Kei, Andre, and everyone else in the mission control room could only look on in awe and terror at the display of Godzilla's raw power.
The Broodmother was left dead on the ground, and Godzilla was now turning his murderous intentions on the offspring.

It was a massacre.

They saw everything through Jet Jaguar's point of view as Godzilla stomped on the first juvenile, smashing it into a red paste on the destroyed street, then snatched a second one up and ripped it in two with his jaws. The view was briefly obscured as intestines and disfigured limbs splattered onto the mecha's head before grotesquely sliding off. The rest of the brood met similar fates, and before long... They were nothing more than messes of gore spread out across the financial district.

"Dear god…" Andre muttered in a grave tone. "He really doesn't hold back…"

Kei and Akeno remained silent, looking on with grim expressions.

Once the nuisances had been exterminated, Godzilla had turned to leave. The city of San Francisco was left behind as a silent ruin, the only sounds being the crackling of the flames that lingered, and the distant screams of survivors that hadn't been evacuated in time...

The silence in the mission control room was only broken by the sound of the comms crackling.

"Mission Control, this is the extraction team. We've spotted Jet Jaguar and are moving in to recover Ren Asami. Over." The voice cracked out.

Akeno stood next to the control panel for a short time, staring down at the switch… And finally, she answered.

"Acknowledged... Bring him home."
