Chapter 37

Dean nodded his head at his brother. They decided to wait until the day after Christmas to tell their parents about Camie's pregnancy and about Jo calling Doc Hamilton.

Jo was telling Bobby this morning too about the call. Sam had told Dean he would be fine, that he could go and be with her while she told Bobby but she told him that she should do it by herself.

Dean had pulled Caleb aside last night and asked if him and Bonnie could pick Colleen up in the morning and take her for the day with a promise to explain everything later.

So Caleb had just left with an excited Colleen who couldn't wait to get to play with CJ and Sam had asked their parents if he could talk to them.

"Okay, what's this all about?" John ask his youngest knowingly. His wife had told him a few weeks ago that she had found college brochures for Stanford when she was gathering Sam's laundry.

Now he figured Sam was finally going to tell them that he planned to apply to the school. Gemma and John had talked…well argued over the idea of Sam going to California for college. John didn't understand it. If Sam had to go to school why he couldn't go to the local college and then he could begin hunting with him and Dean.

Gemma had sighed and told him that he may needed to prepare that Sam wasn't going to want to go into the family business…either family business. For two weeks before he left on his last hunt they had argued in hushed voices over the the youngest Winchester male and finally John had conceded when Gemma began crying telling him that she wasn't going to lose her son because of her husband pig headed old fashion ideas.

John wasn't a fool; he knew Gemma was playing dirty. She knew he couldn't stand seeing her crying because of him but if she was willing to pull out the big guns then he knew he needed to listen to his wife.

He wasn't crazy about Sam going to Stanford but Gemma had reasoned they needed to let Sam make this decision and support him and then maybe gradually they could get the younger man to begin hunting.

Maybe he wouldn't hit the open road with his old man or his brother. He knew it would be more likely a behind the scene job like researching and even John knew that was his son's strong suit and it might be hard for him but he would take it.

So he looked over at Gemma who gave him a reassuring smile. "Son," he prompted.

Sam swallowed the lump in his throat as he licked his lips. "Dad…Mom I need to talk to you."

Dean placed a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder before he went to sit down on the love seat across from his parents.

Taking a deep breath Sam began telling his parents everything. He wasn't even aware he had finally stopped talking until he heard his Mom choked sob. He finally pulled his eyes from the spot on the wall he had focused on while he was speaking so that he could get everything out and looked at his parents.

His father was staring at him in shock while Gemma sat before him wiping her tears away. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," he cried.

"How could you have been so stupid?!" His father shouted in anger as he shot up and got in his son's face.

"John…please," Gemma begged as she reached out for his hand.

John shook her hand away as he turned back to his son. "Answer me! What the Hell were you thinking!"

"I…it was an accident," he mumbled meekly.

"Knocking that girl up isn't an accident Samuel! An accident is when you put your foot on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal…having unprotected sex isn't an accident!" John shouted as he grabbed Sam by his shirt and shook him.

"Dad," Dean said as he pulled his father off his brother.

John turned to look at his oldest, "And where were you huh!"

Dean was taken aback by the anger and accusatory tone in his father's voice. "Me? Maybe if you and Mom didn't monitor every part of my relationship with Jo and paid a little attention to your seventeen years old son this wouldn't have happened!"

"Enough, getting angry isn't going to solve anything," Gemma said as she got between Dean and John.

John stared into Dean's eyes and saw his son flinch slightly. "There's more isn't there," he snapped.

Dean shifted his gaze to his brother and Gemma before addressing his father, "yes sir. Camie and Jo went out together the other day and seems Camie is pretty street smart on top of book smart. She knows us and Bobby aren't just normal everyday Joes. She asked Jo if she knew somebody who could help her take care of this off the record."

Gemma sucked in a deep breath, "you both made a decision...already?" She asked Sam.

John shook his head as he closed his eyes and counted to ten before he started screaming, "who did she call?"

"Doc Hamilton," Dean told him as he squared his shoulders. "She's telling Bobby now too."

"Stupid! Foolish! What the Hell was she thinking!" John roared.

"Don't say that about Jo!" Sam shouted before Dean could defend his girlfriend. "She was trying to protect me! She was trying to be a good friend!"

"Look I already smoothed things over with Hamilton," Dean told his father coolly as he folded his arms across his chest. He didn't trust himself to saying anything else.

John snorted, "smooth things over. Great...just great my 20 year old is smoothing over for his underage girlfriend trying to set up an illegal abortion. Perfect!"

"Look this isn't what's important," Gemma told her husband. "Did you hear your son, him and his girlfriend are trying to schedule an abortion...an abortion. We don't even know if Camie has spoken to her parents. Screw your damn contacts there are more important things to discuss."

Dean stared at his father as John finally threw his arms up in the air, "fine."

"Sam we're going to have to talk to Camie's parents," Gemma said as stood in front of her son.

Sam nodded his head in understanding as the tears he tried to control finally began to fall and he went willingly into his mom's arms as Gemma reassured him they would figure it out.

Bobby stood with his arms folded across his chest as Jo finished telling him everything that happened while he was gone with John.

"I'll call Hamilton and talk to him myself," he finally said.

"Of course," Jo murmured as she ducked her head.

Bobby sighed as he studied his niece before clearing his throat. "What you did wasn't just immature it was irresponsible. Now I know I expect a lot from you…mostly because you've been acting more like an adult than a teenager these past few years but if you're going to do something childish then you get treated like one."

"Yes sir," Jo said as chewed on her lower lip.

"You're grounded for two months….that means you go straight to school and come straight home. The only phone calls allowed are work related…and I mean about the yard. No computer, no internet, no weapon training, no researching hunts," he told her.

"Yes Sir," she said as nodded her head in understanding.

Bobby straighten his shoulders as he gave the final part of the punishment, "that also means no seeing or talking to Dean too."

Jo's head shot up, "oh Uncle Bobby…no please…at least let us talk…please!" Jo begged.

Bobby wavered slightly when the tears that had been threatened to spill began cascading down her cheeks but stood his ground. "Two months Joanna Beth."

Jo stared at her uncle for several seconds before she spun around, running upstairs and slamming the door to her bedroom. He sighed when he heard the first sob coming from her room and was tempted to backpedal on the talking to Dean part of the punishment but knew he needed to stick to his guns…that if she was really going to become a hunter that there are consequences to making rash and impulsive decisions and he would rather her learn it with a grounding than bleeding out somewhere.

He looked down at the dog at his feet, "come on Bader looks like I'm making your breakfast." He headed towards the kitchen to give Jo enough time to calm down and call Dean then he would have to put his parent hat and go upstairs to collect Jo's computer, the phone in her room, the cell phone she got for Christmas and her blackberry.

SPNSPNSPN

Dean swallowed as Jo filled him in on her punishment. "Hey…hey come on Jo two months isn't that bad." Dean told her. His fear had been Bobby tagging on that him and Jo couldn't be together until she was 18. Two months was a gift. "Jo it could have been a lot worse…a lot longer."

His heart broke when he heard his girl sniffle, "I know and I know what I did was wrong."

"Two months Jo…we can do it," he reassured her.

"I still can't believe I did something so stupid Dean," Jo admitted before asking. "How did John and Gemma take the news?"

Dean snorted, "Dad was Dad…Gemma was the peacekeeper…God knows how she puts up with us and Sammy finally got everything off his chest he's been holding in."

"Well he couldn't keep his plans a secret forever," Jo agreed.

Dean snorted, "so you want to know what my Dad's first reaction was to the news…he wanted to know where I was when all of this was happening."

"What?" Jo exclaimed.

"Yeah like it was my job keep Sammy in line…I felt like I was twelve years old again instead of twenty."

"What did you say?" She asked.

"Told him that maybe they shouldn't have spent so much time micro managing our relationship and put some of that attention to their seventeen years old son." He told her.

"I'm sure that went over well," Jo murmured.

"Yeah," he said before continuing. "Anyway Gemma finally got my Dad to calm down enough to talk somewhat rationally and they told Sam that this isn't going away and to call Camie to say they want to talk to her and her parents."

"Yeah…there really isn't a way for her not to tell her Mom and Dad." She admitted before sighing.

"Jo what?" Dean asked gently.

"It's just I'm so angry with my myself for making such a stupid decision," she explained.

"You were trying to help your friends," Dean said.

"I didn't stop at all to think it through Dean…not even a to see if Sam was on the same page as Camie."

"Yeah but you and Camie have been friends for years," he reasoned.

"That's what's bugging me…Dean how did I misjudged her so badly…that she would put me in this position?"

"I don't know," Dean said.

Jo sighed into the phone, "I feel like I'm missing something Dean and it's driving me crazy. It's like a scab you can't help picking at."

Dean thought about what Jo was saying and he had to admit even though he wasn't really friends with the other girl it did seem out of character but then again a teen pregnancy was a game changer. He started to reassure her again but stopped when he heard Bobby's voice on the other end of the show.

"Time to hang up Joanna Beth," he heard the other man say.

"Yes Sir," Jo murmured before saying to Dean. "I love you."

"I love you too and remember two months isn't that long. We can do it Jo." He reassured her.

"I know," she whispered.

Dean closed his eyes as he hung up the phone, looking up as Sam came into living room. "Did you call Camie?"

"Yeah she said she told her parents today and they want to talk to Mom and Dad too. How did everything go with Jo?"

"Two months grounding," Dean told him.

Sam swallowed as he asked, "what about you guys?"

"Just the two months," he told him. He knew it wasn't going to be easy but he had been afraid Bobby was going to make them wait until Jo was eighteen before letting them see each other so two months he would be grateful for.

"Dean I'm really sorry Jo got pulled into this," Sam told his brother.

"I know," Dean said as he stood up. "So what happened when you called Camie?"

Sam sighed, "she told her folks. We're heading over soon."

Dean nodded his head, "I know telling Dad and Gemma wasn't easy. I'm proud of you Sammy."

"For what…being the family screw up."

"Hey," Dean said as he placed his hand on his brother's shoulder. "You made a mistake and you're owning up to it."

"I guess," Sam agreed.

The brothers turned when the front door opened and saw their baby sister coming in while holding Caleb's hand. "Deanie…Sammy!" Colleen cried as she let go of Caleb's hand and ran to her brothers.

"Hey Leenie Beanie," Dean said as he lifted Colleen up and settled her on his hip. "I thought you were sleeping over with CJ."

"CJ may be coming down with a cold so Bonnie called Gemma and she said it would be better to bring her home," Caleb explained.

"Dada…Mama!" Colleen shouted happily.

"Hey Baby," Gemma cooed as she kissed the top of her daughter's head.

"Dean you'll have to stay with your sister," John said as he smiled down at his daughter and tickle her under her chin earning a high pitched giggle.

"Yes Sir," Dean murmured as he bounced Colleen slightly.

"Samuel…let's go," John commanded as Gemma stood next to him.

"Yes Sir," Sam said as he quickly joined his parents.

"Caleb thank you again for taking Colleen for the day," Gemma said as she gave the other man a tight smile.

"No problem," he told her as he waved bye to the three of them as they started towards the front door. He waited until they left before he turned to Dean and asked, "what the Hell was that all about? Sam looked like he was heading to be executed."

Dean swallowed as he put Colleen down, "hey squirt why don't you color Uncle Caleb a picture as a thank you." He said as he pointed to her little Playskool desk in the corner.

"Tay," the toddler said as she skipped over to the desk while the men sat down and Dean told Caleb everything.

Gemma reached down and gave Sam's hand a reassuring squeeze as John rung the Robertson's doorbell. The all looked up when Camie opened the door and said, "hello, my parents are inside waiting."

John frowned at the girl in front of him, shocked at how calm she was all things considered. She certainly wasn't acting like a teenager who just found out she was pregnant.

He pushed this thought aside as he followed his wife and son into the house. He instincts kicked into high gear when he saw Gemma freeze and sniff the air slightly.

John went to reach for the gun tucked into the back of his jeans before suddenly he felt something hitting him in the back of his head and he went down to his knees. The last thing he saw before the darkness engulfed him was his wife and son being attacked with baseball bats and being knocked unconscious.

SPNSPNSPN

"And our Jo just called Hamilton without even talking to you?" Caleb said as he accepted the beer Dean handed him.

"Yeah…guess she was caught up in the moment," Dean reasoned as he gave Colleen a sippy cup of milk and some animal crackers as a snack.

"Doesn't sound like Jo," Caleb pondered.

"Yeah…she's really beating herself up about it too," he admitted as he sat on the couch and propped his feet on the coffee table.

Caleb nodded his head as he leaned forward and asked the younger hunter, "do you think Sammy said something to this Camie girl about what we do? I mean how did she figure it out. Not like we all aren't that careful around civilians. I find it hard to believe she figure it out on her own."

Dean frowned as he thought about what Caleb was saying and he had to admit he had been pretty surprised that the teen had pieced together some of what he and his family did too.

SPNSPNSPN

Jo sighed as she listened to Melissa Etheridge singing as she laid on her bed feeling extremely sorry for herself. She knew she had been a fool to contact Dr. Hamilton and she even knew she deserved her punishment but she never thought her uncle would make her go radio silent as far as Dean was concerned.

Sniffling she turned her head slightly when she heard her uncle knock on her door and asked if he could come in. "Yes Sir," Jo called back as she sat up and wiped at her tears.

She watched as her door swung open and her uncle came in with a plate and a glass of milk. "I'm allowing you one day to pout but tomorrow morning I want to see you up, dressed and at the kitchen table for breakfast."

"Yes Sir," she mumbled as he set the plate and glass down on the nightstand.

"Good," he said gruffly.

Jo felt fresh tears at the look of disappointment in her uncle's eyes. "Uncle Bobby, I really am sorry," she said meekly.

Bobby sighed, "I know Sweetie. Now eat your dinner and then go get ready for bed."

Jo reached over and pick up the plate and smiled slightly when she saw he had made her childhood favorite peanut butter and strawberry jam and quickly said, "yes Sir."

Bobby gave her a a small smile as he leaned over and kissed the top of her head. He was halfway out the door when he heard Jo cry, "son of a bitch!"

SPNSPNSPN

John moaned as his fought to open his eyes and winced when he heard his son and wife calling out to him, "Dad! John!"

He shook his head to slightly to clear cobwebs, "are you two alright?"

"They're drugging Mom," Sam cried.

John blinked as he tried to focus his vision and saw the IV drip going into Gemma's bloodstream. "What do you think they're giving you?" he asked as he began looking around to assess the situation.

Gemma blinked her eyes as she tried to focus, "some kinda of anesthesia and nerve blocker, probably lidocaine…I can't shift John."

"Shit," John hissed wondering what the Hell they were up against. He heard Sam grunting and realized that where Gemma and he were restrained with chains, Sam was only tied up with rope. "Sammy, once you get free you get out of here and call your brother."

Sam looked at his father as he finally as he managed to finally get one of his hand freed, "sorry Dad but I'm not leaving you and Mom." He said as he worked the knot on the other hand before bending over to untie his feet.

"Dammit Sammy now is not the time to argue with me," John commanded.

The youngest Winchester tossed the ropes aside as he stood up, "I can't leave you and Mom like this," Sam cried as he rushed over to his Gemma and studied the IV drip they had going into her arm before holding the tube the needle that the drugs were flowing into her vein and pulling the needle out.

"Sam…listen to your father," Gemma begged as she winced as Sam tugged on the needle.

Sam dropped the needle and the drip line as he knelt down, "Mom?"

"I'm fine Baby," she murmured as she fought the drugs coursing through her body.

Sam nodded his head as he looked around the basement and sighed when he saw the standing metal work cabinet along the wall and went over to it. "Mr. Robertson should have something I can use to get the chains off of you," the teen huffed as he yanked on the door of the cabinet.

"Dammit Sammy…get out of here before they come back!" John ordered.

"I'm not leaving you both here," he argued as he gave the door a hard yank, losing his balance and falling backwards as the door swung open and he screamed when he looked up and saw the girl he had thought he would build a future with come tumbling out and her dead body falling next to him.

SPNSPNSPN

Dean shook his head and snapped his phone closed. "Something's wrong…no way Mom wouldn't answer her phone." Dean said as he grabbed his his car keys.

"Where do you think you're going?" Caleb asked as he grabbed Dean's arm.

"Caleb the more I think about it the more my gut is telling me that my family is in danger. Please stay with Colleen…" he told the other man.

"I can call Bonnie and she can be here in twenty minutes and I can go with you." Caleb said as he pulled out his cell phone.

"No…you need to stay with Colleen…if something goes sideway you will need to protect Colleen." Dean urged as he shook Caleb's hand off.

Caleb knew the younger hunter had a point, "fine but call Bobby to back you up."

No sooner had he finished making that statement Dean's phone began buzzing in his hand. He flipped his phone open and said, "perfect timing Sweetheart…a what?" he said as he he exchanged a look with Caleb. "Hold on I'm putting you on speaker."

"I finally figured out what was bugging me," Jo's voice said over the roar of Bobby's Charger. "When we went out the day after she told Sam she was pregnant we went for lunch and she got a sundae…a strawberry sundae. Camie's allergic to strawberries. It didn't register since it was such a benign mistake I didn't even pick up on it."

"It's not Camie," Caleb said as he exchanged a look with Dean before adding, "demon…shapeshifter?"

"Jo's thinking ghoul," they heard Bobby say.

"Sam gave Camie a silver charm bracelet that had a couple of anti-possession charms. She was wearing when we went out." Jo explained.

"Silver would burn a shapeshifter…" Caleb said.

"And a demon couldn't have been possessing her if she still had the charm bracelet on either," Dean reasoned.

"But why would they deliberately target a hunter and his family?" Jo asked.

"Shit," Caleb hissed. "Four years ago…John worked that ghoul case in Windom helping out his buddy Joe Barton."

"Yeah…yeah I remember that…that ghoul must have had a partner or something who decided to come after Dad," Dean said as he started towards the door. "Look I'm heading over to the Robertson's now and Caleb is staying with Colleen."

"We're about fifteen minutes out…Dean you do not go in alone. Jo and I will back you up," Bobby commanded in a voice Dean knew meant business.

""Fine…just hurry!" Dean urged as he hung up his phone and jogged out of the house towards the Impala.

SPNSPNSPN

"Oh God," Gemma cried when she saw the young girl's body as Sam scrambled to back away from the body. She gasped when she saw the other two figures jammed in the standing cabinet.

"Sammy get out now!" John shouted when he saw the bodies and realized they had to be at least dead a week.

"Camie," the teen cried as he went to touch her hair.

"Oh poor little Sammy," came a voice from the other side of the room.

Sam swallowed as he stood up, looking for anything to use as a weapon. "Who are you?"

"Maybe you should ask 'what are we' the creature wearing Camie's face teased as another being that looked like Mr. Robertson stepped forward.

"Ghouls," Gemma hissed. "I can smell the death that wreaks off of you!"

The male grinned as he lowered his face towards Gemma, "you definitely were the wild card. We needed to make sure we knocked you and your husband out first so that we could disarm you both. Little Sammy though..." he grinned as she heard John scream at the other ghoul to let his son go.

The fake Mr. Robertson laughed as he spun around and stormed over to John. "Do you feel fear John? I bet you're feeling what our father felt when you and that Joe Barton hunted him down and killed him for simply surviving. No we're not going to let him go but maybe I will make his death as painless as possible and then assume his identity...won't it be fun to watch your little Sammy kill your wife...you son Dean...but I think the sweetest will be killing that little girl and listening to you beg for their lives."

"We will kill you!" John hissed.

"We'll see about that won't we," the creature taunted before looking over at his sister who was holding Sam down. "Let's begin..."

SPNSPNSPN

Jo and Bobby joined Dean down the road from the Robertson home. "Okay you two we don't know how many there are in there but just know that they can only assume a victim's form after they're dead so you can't hesitate." Bobby said before adding, "Jo that thing is not your friend Camie. You understand me girl."

Jo finished pulling her hair into a messy bun to keep it our of her way as she murmured a quick 'yes sir'.

"Swing for the neck and sever the head," Dean said as he handed his girl her machete.

"I know," she reassured him.

"Alright then, let's get in there and stop those bastards from hurting our family." Bobby said with a firm head nod.

SPNSPNSPN

Gemma blinked as she fought the drugs they were pumping through her again. She hated ghouls; they were basically scavengers but they could be tricky. It turned her stomach that Robertsons were killed to be used to trick them.

She shook her head slightly as the one pretending to be Mr. Robertson. She listened as the creature told John what they planned to do. She blinked as she cocked her head ever so slightly and swallowed when she heard the rumble of a certain Impala.

SPNSPNSPN

"Look the best chance we have is a blitz attack coming from two directions," Jo argued.

They had made their way back to the house and were now arguing in hush whispered. Dean had used the scope from a sniper rifle that he had grabbed to look in through a kitchen window and it looked like they were dealing with two creatures and watched as they opened the basement door and started down the stairs.

"Fine, I'll go through the half window by the water tank and you..." Dean said.

"Dean that isn't going to work because A you won't fit and B I've spent hours down in that basement and I know all the weird little spaces are that will offer me some cover. I'm sure if they're in the basement they would keep them over in Mr. Robertson workshop area and there is a door that leads out to the back yard that you and Uncle Bobby and can come through which is where the workshop is."

"Jo, you're not going in there alone," Dean said as he looked over at Bobby expecting the elder hunter to back him up.

Bobby looked at his niece and saw the determination in her eyes and asked, "you sure you can get in there without being caught?"

"Yes," Jo told him truthfully.

Dean's mouth dropped open, "you can't be serious!"

Bobby sighed, "I don't like it either but Jo's right, this is our best shot."

Jo nodded her head as she looked over at Dean and said, "I can do this Dean. It's what I've been training for."

Dean gazed into the eyes of the woman he loved and reluctantly nodded his head in agreement. "Fine, how much time do you need to get in place?"

SPNSPNSPN

Gemma looked over at John and blew out a shaky breath as their eyes locked. She shot a look over towards the basement door and nodded.

"Please," Gemma begged. "Let our son go…you have us."

John watched his wife and knew that even though the drugs were impacting her abilities that her hearing was still fine and by the way she looked up at the door that she heard something and that she was trying to buy some time.

The Camie ghoul rolled her eyes as she ran a finger along Sam's cheek and said, "did you not hear my brother. We don't just want you two. We want John here to suffer as he watches my brother kill his son and take his form so that he can watch his 'Sammy' rip yours, your other son and your daughter throats out."

John snorted, "and you think the two of you are going to manage to take us all out."

"Oh it looks like we're doing pretty damn good." The Camie ghoul snapped. "See your arrogance is your down fall. We've been planning this for over a year. We figured out who the weakest link was and who would be the best person to use to set our plan into motion. Teenage puppy love…it was perfect."

Sam swallowed as he looked over at Camie's corpse. He got her killed because of what his family did. "I'm going to kill you myself," he said as bucked his body to try and free himself.

"Please…you don't have it in you," the ghoul taunted.

"But I do," Jo shouted as she sprinted forward from the darkened corner she had managed to get to after she had come in through the small half window in the back room of the basement before slowly and silently making her way into the room, staying in the shadows. She was thankfully that these bastards were chatty assholes and weren't paying attention to their surroundings and she could get into place in time.

The monster barely had time to register that the young female hunter was there before Jo swung her machete, severing the head of the ghoul who killed her friend while Bobby and Dean both came crashing through the basement door that lead to the back yard and took out the other creature before it had time to react.

Jo stared at the monster she decapitated and then looked at her friend's body and couldn't stop herself from running into the corner and losing the contents of her stomach.

Dean helped his brother up as Bobby disconnected the IV drip from Gemma. "Go help Bobby," he urge when he saw the way Sam was staring at Camie's body. He reached out and cupped his brother's face in his hands, "Sammy help Bobby." He said more forcefully knowing the younger boy needed to get away from the body of his girlfriend.

Sam blinked as he tried to focus on Dean, "huh." He slowly let his eyes drift over to Jo and suddenly Dean's words registered, "right…help Bobby with Mom and Dad. You help Jo."

Dean patted Sam's cheek and gave him a reassuring smile and whispered, "good man."

Sam made his way over to Bobby and his mother just as the hunter finished picking the padlock on the chains that were restraining Gemma. As soon as she pushed the chains off she gathered Sam in her arms and murmured, "oh Baby."

Bobby cleared his throat and told them he would free John. Giving Sam some privacy as he began sobbing in his mother's arms. He shot a quick glance at Jo and saw Dean tending to his niece as he rubbed her back as she was taking a few deep breaths.

"You okay John?" Bobby asked as he worked on the lock.

John dragged his gaze from his wife and son and nodded his head. "Yeah…we're going to have to take care of this." He said in a hush whisper, hating the task ahead of them.

"Dean can get them out of here and we'll take care of it," Bobby told him as he finished freeing John who got up to rush over to his wife and son, stopping when he felt the other man's hand on his arm and said, "this was a game changer John."

John swallowed as he let his eyes look around the room, to the innocent family who had been slaughter for no reason other than to get close to him. To his wife, his sons and the girl who he saw as one of his own. Bobby was right, this was a game changer and for the first time in a long time he didn't know what they would do.

TBC

A/N 1: Okay I hope people don't think I'm making all of the kids too OOC but because of the change with how the were raised from the time they were 8 and 12 they aren't the same kids. Sam isn't angry and fighting John tooth and nail to have a normal life...he has had a normal life with not one but two loving parents.

Dean is angry because he feels he's not giving the respect he deserves and resents how his parents have focus so much on him and Sammy was given free range (spinning this around from the show where we are to believe John main focus as a parent was smothering Sam and seeing how that worked out of him).

Then there's Jo...she's the obedient little soldier for her Uncle Bobby and to a certain extent John and Caleb...the hunters she looks up to and idolizes. Hence her replying 'yes sir' so much to Bobby.

A/N 2: Okay I got a little too 'Dawson Creek' in these last parts with the teen pregnancy but I went back in forth on how to bring the tragedy needed to move this story forward. Part of me was thinking of killing off Gemma and that certainly would have sent John reeling out of control again but then I thought...what if the ghouls were brought in that had killed Adam and his mother infiltrated the Winchesters and played them and who better to be play than Sam and Jo.

Sam really hasn't been involved in hunting and Jo may be involved but she's removed in so many ways because she never dealt with it close to home like John, Bobby and Dean have. She may have known about the things that go bump in the night but having to cut off the head of a monster walking around wearing probable one of her only true friend's faces when she's seventeen would be a pretty damn harsh wake up call. Kinda like on the show early Jo romanticized hunting and now she really gets how ugly and sad a hunter's life really is.

They both just were shocked out of that small cocoon that they still had wrapped around them. No matter how much knowledge you have, no matter how much protection you use to secure your home, the things that go bump in the night can still get at you even it it's by killing an innocent girl and her parents.

Anywho I hope people liked this part.

Thank you,
Val
