Summary: Chalant Fluff. Christmas setting.

Disclaimer: I don't own DC

Zatanna sat on the couch and let out a shaky sigh as she watched Connor and Megan cook gingerbread snacks together. It was her first Christmas as an orphan, and she was not doing very well. Christmas used to be her and her father's favorite time of the year, but now she was alone, and she had no interest in celebrating without her father. There were several activities the duo would do together over the holiday season that just brightened her day, but he wasn't here to do them with her, and she didn't want to. M'gann had already set up wreaths and small charms here and there, but the Martian had not gotten to the tree or the lights yet. Zatanna was forced to fake a smile as others passed by. Roy had been spending more time with the team since that unsanctioned mission Dick talked to her about the other day, and even he was more upbeat than usual. Damn. Even the grinch is enjoying himself. And look at me over here...Zatanna noticed Arty and Wally were more or less ignoring one another, with Wally talking to Kal and Arty to Roy. Figures. They're still kinda angry at each other. Well, guess that means no matchmaking today. Speaking of, where's Dick? Probably celebrating with Batman. Zatanna was a bit extra downtrodden since the Boy Wonder and his cheery personality wasn't here. He always knew how to make her feel better. She knew that if there was anyone who could save Christmas for her, it would be him, but he was presently unavailable. She didn't mind. He had his own life, and he should enjoy it. She didn't mind...

Dick Zeta'd to the cave following a very early Christmas dinner with Bruce, and he immediately spotted the gorgeous magician on the couch. He frowned to himself as he noticed how distraught she was. Dick thought back to one of his first Christmases with Bruce, his second one to be exact. Barbara and Luke had invited him to a festival in the park, but he, and Bruce for that matter, didn't want to go. Alfred had gotten the Dynamic Duo to go to the festival, bless his heart, and that celebration was the thing that got Dick back into the spirit of the holiday season. The very next day, he and Bruce went on a frenzy, decorating the Manor with all sorts of lights, wreaths, and charms, and finally coming together to set up a massive tree by the fireplace together. That was really asterous. Best Christmas I can remember. Just wish I could get Zee to have that kinda thing...why can't I? Robin smirked to himself as he turned around and Zeta'd right back to the Batcave, making a beeline for Bruce to ask for his credit card. And sure, he had to say what it was for, and yes, Bruce and Alfred did manage to have some fun at his dismay, but he didn't mind the teasing this time. So long as I can get Zee to feel the aster, like Bruce and Al got me to, it's all gonna work out.

Dick returned about an hour later, hauling with him so much stuff that he had to ask Connor to help him carry it all to the cave. He made sure that Zee and Arty were hanging out when he got back, and he ignored the questioning glances from some of his teammates as he passed them with his supplies. Connor set it all down in Zatanna's room, and Dick turned to him.

"That all?"

"Yeah. What exactly is this for?"

"It's uh, it's for Zee. I-I kinda w-wanna help her feel more a-at home right now." Connor smirked but didn't question it any further as he walked out of the room. Even the blunt clone of Superman knew how Dick was around the sorceress, but thankfully, he, Roy, and Kaldur were the only people in the cave that didn't bug or question him about it.

Zatanna and Arty returned about 30 minutes later, and Arty went over to talk with M'gann while Zatanna plopped back down on the couch, burying herself in her self-loathing once more. Dick noticed her and walked over, sitting next to her. "H-hey Zee. M-merry Ch-christmas." Zatanna blushed and tucked some hair behind her ear.

"M-merry Christmas." Dick hesitated before taking her by the hand and tugging on her.

"I, uh, I have s-something to show y-you." He led her to her room, and quickly opened the door to let her in. Wh-what was he doing in my room? Zatanna walked in and her eyes immediately widened as she saw what Dick had set up. There were lights spamming all over her room, even under her bed. A large wreath was set up across from her bed, and there was even a small tree in the unused corner of her room, complete with different ornaments and lights of its own. Dick pressed a button on a remote he had left by her bedside to turn it off and on again, and he looked to her. D-did he d-do all of this? "Uh, I-I k-know it's kinda excessive, b-but I thought you m-might be havin' a hard time r-right now. Uh, s-sorry if I went a little overboard with-" Zatanna threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Dick tensed up before returning the gesture with a blush and a smile.

"It's perfect. Thank you." Dick smiled before turning around and picking something else up from her desk.

"I-I gotchu this t-too." Of course he did. How sweet is he? Zatanna smiled before ripping the wrapping off to reveal a framed photo of her with her father, both in matching stage magician outfits. She looked to him with surprise. "Uh, I m-may have gone through y-your o-old photo albums t-to find that. I-if you don't like it I can always-" Dick was one again cut off by Zee bringing him in for a bone-crushing hug, and he couldn't help the smile and heat rush to his face as he returned it.

"M-merry Christmas Zee."

"Merry Christmas D-Dick. Thank you."

Next few chapters will be more Chalant fluffs since I am having so much fun with them. Feel free to review and leave comments or suggestions. I don't say this enough, but whenever someone leaves a comment, it seriously makes my day, so I can't thank you all enough for the support. I know I sound hella sappy right now, but it's true.
