After leaving the city to start the journey to the mountain of fruits and flowers and the first scroll the three gods and one girl in disguise of the monk Tripitaka have to cross a barren desert which they were not prepared for.

"Sandy. You control water, can't you, you know bring some here?" Pigsy asks in a raspy voice, the four travelers stumbling tiredly through the sand.

"For the third time Pigsy. I can only control water that's already there." Sandy replies annoyedly at him asking for the third time that morning.

"Can you sense any water nearby?" Tripitaka asks.

"No... wait, actually yes. But it's very little and not in the ground." Sandy says.

"Who cares where it is?" Monkey says annoyed.

"It's moving. Someone is crossing this desert too." Sandy explains.

"Still, a little would be better than none." Pigsy says.

"Yes. Let's get that water!" Monkey agrees.

"Which way?" He asks and Sandy nods in the direction of the water.

"Guys, we need to go this way. And if there is someone crossing whoever it is probably needs that water themselves." Tripitaka says, before collapsing with Sandy catching her.

"She was right. But..." Pigsy says, before he too collapses, his eyes rolling in the back of his head as he faceplants into the water.

"We need to do something. I know I'll use my staff to look for him." Monkey says, jumping on his staff and expands it to great length, only for the Staff to slide in the sand and monkey to go flying off, getting knocked out by the impact.

"What do I do?" Sandy asks looking at her two still present companions with worry, hugging her knees while sitting in the sand.

Maybe 5 minutes later she sees Monkey's staff move and expects the god to come back, but to her surprise another man appears, dressed in dirties dark green cloth vest and pants, leather shoes and wearing a golden and green colored metal eye mask, holding a double voulge in his left while carrying an unconscious monkey under his right arm.

"Do you need help?" She hears him ask.

Sandy only nods with a worried expression as she looks back to her collapsed friends.

"It's not much, but it should be enough for them to survive until we reach the lake." The man says, putting monkey down and hands her his leather pouch of water.

"Be sure to drink some yourself first. I don't need you to collapse as well." He says.

"Thank you. Uhm, Who are you?" She asks, drinking some of the water before giving Tripitaka a drink and Pigsy after her.

"I already gave him some water when I found him." He says, when she is about to give money some as well.

"Thank you again." Sandy says with a smile, holding the pouch out for him.

"You hold onto it. And take this too" He tells her, holding out his weapon, which she accepts, looking at it curiously.

"My name is Wei Yan." He says, getting her attention while he gets a rope from Pigsy's luggage and wraps it around the monk of the group.

"I'm Sandy." The white haired goddess says.

"Why are you crossing the desert?" Wei asks, lifting the unconscious monk onto his back and knots the rope around himself, securing Tripitaka on his back.

"We are on a quest to get rid of the demons." Sandy says proudly.

"Aha. Whatever you say." Wei says not believing her and picks up Pigsy, throwing the heavy man over his shoulder and grabs Monkey under his other arm, the man's stick already tiny and in his pocket.

"Uhm Wei Yan, are you a demon? Or a god perhaps?" Sandy asks carefully, falling in step with the man, who is a bit shorter than Monkey, but his frame is much broader than the legendary gods.

"No, why?" Wei asks sharply.

"It's just Pigsy isn't exactly easy to carry. I doubt I would even get him up." Sandy says nervously.

"Yeah, but if we don't move now, we will all die in the desert. That bit of water was only planned for a one-person trip." Wei says, stomping through the sand.

"I'm sorry. I'm not good with people." Sandy apologizes, feeling like she upset their savior.

"Me neither." He grumbles and the two walk through the desert wordlessly for the next two hours, Wei often looking at the woman however, her interaction with the sights of dunes or with some beetles in the sand placing a small smile on his face, before he refocuses himself and looks stoically ahead of himself.

"What happened?" Tripitaka asks, being the first to wake up and feels herself moving for some reason.

"Tripitaka! You're awake." Sandy says happily.

"Yeah, what's going on?" She asks, trying to move but finds ropes holding her in place.

"Tell her to stop moving. We can't her walk and slow us down." Wei tells Sandy, continuing to walk through the sand.

"Who is this?" Tripitaka asks upset.

"Wei Yan. He's helping us." Sandy says with a smile.

"Now stop moving back there or I'll leave you behind." Wei says, making her stop and frown annoyedly.

"I can walk." She says.

"Not fast enough." Wei replies.

"Tripitaka, just let him help." Sandy says, walking a bit faster so she's in Wei's view instead of her friends and offers the water pouch to him.

"Good idea. We should reach the lake in an hour anyways." Wei says, taking the water and drinks about half of the remainder.

"Drink the rest!" He tells Sandy, who nods, unsure if she should be happy or upset due to his attitude.

"O-OK." She says, drinking the rest and slings the pouch around her back again.

"What were you doing wandering the desert?" Tripitaka asks Wei from his back.

"None of your business." Wei grumbles, starting to walk again with Sandy falling in step with him.

About an hour later they reach the lake in the middle of the desert, overshadowed by a few palm trees, giving them shade.

"Finally." Wei says, dropping Monkey to the ground unceremoniously and lifts Pigsy off his shoulder with Sandy's help.

Once the two are on the floor he opens the tie around his chest, letting Tripitaka drop to the floor behind him.

"Thanks." She says sarcastically.

"Help me give them some water Tripitaka." Sandy says, filling the pouch with a stream of water flying through the air from the lake right into it and then pours the water in Pigsy's mouth before giving the girl dressed as a monk the pouch.

"So, you are a god huh?" Wei asks, kneeling at the water, drinking some out of his hand.

"Yes." Sandy says, nodding.

"What are you?" Tripitaka asks, knowing he can't be human with how he carried three people, one of which was the heavy Pigsy.

"Nothing." He says, his eyes still locked on the white-blonde haired girl wearing some kind of bone necklace over her black clothes.

"Hah, where are we?" Pigsy asks, waking up with monkey also rejoining the living.

"Who is he?" Monkey asks, looking at Wei distrustful.

"This is our savior. Wei Yan. He's not a people person like me." Sandy says, moving over to the muscle packed man.

"Thank you. I thought we were dead." Pigsy says, splashing his face with water and lies down on his back next to it.

"Where is... where is my staff?" Monkey says, feeling for his staff in his hair.

"Oh... I forgot." Sandy says apologetically.

"What? I need it. I'm the monkey king! I need my staff!" He shouts angrily, making Sandy wince guiltily.

"Stop hollering, is this what you're looking for?" Wei says, tossing the stick over to monkey, who enlarges it once before making it small again and uses it to pin up his hair.

"Thank you human. Your assistance will be noted in my legends." Monkey says high and mightily.

"Just be quiet and don't yell at her." Wei grumbles, pushing past monkey, knocking him over and collects his weapon, before separating from the group, sitting down on the opposite side of the lake which is about 10meters in diameter.

"Don't monkey." Tripitaka says when Monkey reaches for his staff to get payback for being knocked over.

"Where are we anyways? Are we still en route to the first scroll?" Pigsy asks.

"No." Sandy replies.

"Why not?" Monkey asks.

"We went to this lake." Sandy says oblivious to why the others are upset.

"But we need to get that scroll." Tripitaka says.

"I led the way and I'm heading somewhere else." Wei says, noticing the blonde's nervousness.

"You should get ready for the night. You should rest here." Wei advises, stabbing his weapon in the ground next to him and leans against a palm.

"He's right." Tripitaka says and helps Pigsy set up camp for the incoming night.

That night Sandy can't sleep, thinking about what Pigsy said when they left the town together, that she smells and should wash her hair.

Looking around her group she sees them all deep asleep and gets up, walking around the lake a bit, looking at her reflection in the moonlight and then peaks over at Wei, who is sitting against the tree unmoving.

She slowly takes off her clothes, feeling vulnerable without them and puts them on the shore of the lake before stepping into the water, which is only deep enough to reach to the middle of her ribs.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" She suddenly hears a voice from behind her while she is rubbing her skin with the water, making a small stream pour down above her.

"I don't sleep well. Why are you awake?" Sandy asks, not turning around.

"I have an easy sleep. Your movements were enough to wake me it seems." He says, his eyes staring at the beautiful sight of Sandy's frame illuminated by the moon and dripping with water.

"So, why are you bathing in the middle of the night?" He asks.

"Pigsy said I stink and my hair needs to be washed." She says hurt evident in her voice.

"Why are you traveling with them? None of you seems to like the others very much." Wei asks, drinking some water, before lying back against the palm.

"We're on a mission." Sandy says.

"We are going to collect the sacred scrolls and free humanity from the demons." Sandy tells him, subconsciously turning to him and quickly puts an arm across her breasts.

"So you were serious about that." Wei says more to himself than anyone.

"Yes. Monkey and Tripitaka are the chosen ones and I can finally have a purpose and friends." Sandy says, looking at Wei with a happy expression.

"I'm sure you could join too, if you're not a demon." She says.

"I'm not a demon. I'm a demigod." Wei says.

"Why do you want to keep that secret?" She asks surprised.

"Because it has brought nothing but misery." He sighs.

"How about you, how were the times back then before demons ruled?" Wei asks.

"I wouldn't know. I'm a new god. I'm barely 100 years old." She says.

"I'm 80 years old." He replies, standing up and takes off his clothes, joining her in the water and walks up to her, Sandy staring at him wide eyed, unsure what he wants to do.

"Turn around." He says.

She looks at him for a moment, before doing as he asks, Wei traces one hand up her smooth, pale back, before focusing on her hair and gathers some water in his other hand, helping her wash her unruly hair, with her smiling a bit embarrassed at the gesture.

"Why would I join your group?" Wei asks her while washing her hair.

"To bring peace back to the land." She says, turning around.

"Oh, sorry." She apologizes, realizing their compromising position and turns back around.

"I wouldn't even know what peace would look like. I have been a mercenary since I can remember." Wei says, combing down her wet hair after he finished cleaning it.

"I don't know, it sounds nice though. Not having to worry or live hiding in the sewers." She says.

"You were hiding in the sewers?" He asks, gently caressing her arms.

"Yes. Gods don't have many choices on how to live nowadays." Sandy says.

"OK. I will join your group." Wei says, squeezing her arms supportively, before releasing his hold on her.

"What changed your mind?" She asks curiously, turning sideways to look at him.

"The thought of such a beautiful woman having to hide her whole life." Wei says, looking at her, taking in the sight.

"Thank you." She says a bit giddily, smiling embarrassed.

"Get some rest. If we are going to go looking for that scroll or whatever tomorrow you need to be rested." Wei tells her, placing a palm on her back supportively.

"You're right. Uhm, can you get out first?" She asks suddenly feeling insecure about her state of undress with the knowledge that Wei will be joining their quest.

"Sure." He says and walks out of the water to his clothes, unembarrassed since he was in much more vulnerable positions during his 80 years.

Sandy's curious eyes are locked on his body, watching his muscles glisten in the moon light, making her bite her lip and quicken her heartbeat as she watches him dress himself.

Once he is done, she leaves the water herself and dresses herself with her back turned to him, giving him a good view of her smooth back.

The next day Sandy informs her comrades that Wei is joining them and the five of them set off on their quest, everyone uneasy around each other, other than Sandy who is even more cheerful than usual.
