Summary: Takes place a week after the last chapter.

Disclaimer: I don't own DC

Dick hadn't left Zee's bedside all week long. For the first few days, she was in a horrible place, a complete mess. Nabu had even paid her a visit to offer his condolences, no doubt due to Giovanni urging him. However, as the days passed, she started to get better, far quicker than when she had just lost her father to Nabu. Dick was honestly surprised when, on the 6th day, Zatanna seemed like she was almost back to normal. He had confronted her about it, and she said that she didn't want to be hung up on her mother's death the same way she was for her father.

"You sure you're good? You don't have to be alright so soon, you're entitled to a few weeks of being a mess."

"N-no, I'm good. Promise. I...I barely knew her. A-and I know that sounds bad, b-but I'm fine. I don't wanna be hung up over her forever. I need to move on." He understood what she meant, it was probably far easier for her now than it was to lose her father since she hardly knew her mother prior to her death. It no doubt stung all the same, but it wasn't anywhere close to the heartbreaking pain that came with Nabu taking over Zatara's body.

Bruce had set up a funeral for Sindella, but Zee didn't want to make a very big deal out of it. So instead of inviting the whole team, she opted to just go alone with Dick, as they were the only two who had met her.

"I...I feel like I should feel worse about this. I-I mean, she was my mom. Why don't I feel like a wreck?"

"Everyone grieves differently. Don't feel guilty about it. Trust me, my way of grieving involves running around in a skintight suit beating on bad guys. You're allowed to feel however you feel."

"I...I know she m-made mistakes and all, b-but she died saving my life." Dick knew where she was going with this, so he stopped her right away.

"Hey, don't even start feeling guilty about it. It wasn't your fault, just like Nabu taking your dad wasn't your fault." Dick tilted Zatanna's head so she could stare into his eyes before bringing her into a hug. "Zee, you were willing to sacrifice yourself to save the world. That's probably the bravest thing I've ever seen anyone do. You have no idea how proud I am to be dating someone as amazing as you. Y-your mom just couldn't bear to see you die. So she did it herself. I-I know she wasn't the best mom to you, but everything she did, she did because she thought it would protect you. She had the best intentions, and in the end, she kinda did come out on top." Zatanna closed her eyes and hugged Dick even tighter before breaking off to stare at the grave.

"She wasn't perfect, sh-she was pretty far from it. B-but I still miss her. Is that dumb? She almost got me killed and I miss her. Am I being silly?" Dick pulled her close to kiss the side of her head.

"Not at all. She was your mom. She was a pretty bad mom, but she was still there for you in the end. That's all that matters." Zatanna smiled and leaned down to place a hand on her mother's grave. She closed her eyes and just said a silent prayer before standing back up and returning to Dick's arms.

"Okay. I'm ready now." Dick grinned, pecking her on the cheek. She smiled, but continued to stare at the gravestone. Dick frowned a bit once he noticed her inner turmoil. He remembered being similarly conflicted when he had finally come to terms with his parents' passing a while back. He also remembered something his parents used to do for fun whenever one of them was feeling down or depressed. Let's see if this works.

The Boy Wonder quickly turned Zee's head to face him and mashed his lips onto hers rather determinedly. Her eyes widened for a second at the passion he was exerting, as if she didn't expect it from him so suddently. Just as she closed her eyes and was about to ease into it, he broke off, grinning at her lovestruck look as he slowly started to run away from her. Zatanna looked dazed for a minute before smirking and running after him, using magic to slow him down so she could tackle him with a hug as they rolled onto the grass. She landed on top of him and lowered her lips onto his own, both of them spilling their laughter into the kiss as they deepened their embrace, exploring the crevices of each other's body with their hands as their tongues clashed with one another. They stayed in this position on the floor for well over a minute, both more than content to stay like this for a while, maybe even for the whole night. Any people passing by would surely have given them dirty looks for getting intimate in a place of mourning, but neither of them would have given a damn so long as they were in each other's presence. He eventually tucked the stray strands of hair that had been knocked loose behind her ear before breaking off and letting her help him to his feet. "Dinner now?" Zee grinned and nodded as they walked out with their fingers entwined with one another, leaving any feelings of discontent or sorrow at the gates of Gotham Cemetery.

Sorry if recent chapters have been lower quality. I don't know why, but I just feel as if this arc was harder than normal to write, sorry if it sucked. I'll try to do better going forward. Next chapter will be the suggestion a few people have asked for. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions for chapters you wanna see. Next chapter up soon.
