Summary: Takes place early 2015

Disclaimer: I don't own DC

Slade watched his son from a nearby building, sighing as he killed yet another guard on his way to the target. For the past 3 years, Grant Wilson had been readjusting to life with legs, and powers. However, things weren't going as smoothly for the kid as Slade would have liked. The boy had serious anger issues. Add to that his resentment towards his own father, and Wilson was practically estranged to the boy. He had tried reaching out once or twice, but only received the cold shoulder treatment in return.

But anger issues were the least of Grant's concerns. As he had grown older, he had started to take an interest in Deathstroke the Terminator, world class mercenary. Maybe it was just his bottled-up rage, maybe it was the similarities in their powers, whatever the case, Grant idolized the man. Ironic since he couldn't stand his father. Slade didn't approve, and neither did the boy's mother, or his brother for that matter. Slade had researched the biochip he and Dick stole for Grant, and the stabilizing agent was a much-needed piece of the puzzle. It kept Grant's vitals safe from the experimental chip whilst allowing it to let Grant walk again, but it didn't account for Grant's powers. They were an extreme strain on the stabilizing agent, and if he overexerted himself even a little bit, he could die. But Grant had a renegade personality, he wasn't going to let anyone tell him what he could do. He started taking smaller jobs, first bank-robbing, then larceny, and finally murder. He was a natural, which terrified Slade. He once again tried to get involved, but Grant just pushed him away. Grant even came up with a name for himself, Ravager. He started making a name in the criminal underworld while remaining under the radar of Batman or the League. Eventually, he had caught the attention of HIVE, one of Slade's old employers. Deathstroke had stopped doing business with them because he didn't trust their plans for him. They had offed several of their assassins in the past to tie up loose ends, and Slade wasn't exactly a fan of his own son getting involved. Not to mention that he didn't see eye-to-eye with the organization's plans for changing the world, he felt it would impede on his own enterprise.

HIVE approached Ravager, offering him a specialized combat suit and equipment with the intent of making him their premier mercenary. He accepted gratefully. The team had foiled several of their plans in the past, and they were actively looking for a solution. They worked hand-in-hand with the Light, though Damien Darkh and Vandal Savage clashed on many ideals, and the team was a common enemy for them. Deathstroke learned of Grant's involvement with Darkh through an inside source, and Slade didn't want his son to get involved with people as shady as them. He also didn't want Grant killing the same person who had saved his life. He and Dick had clashed a few more times over the years, but they had no resentment towards one another. Their duels were purely due to their lines of work. In fact, Slade was starting to respect the Boy Wonder. He felt some sense of duty to keep Grant from going after him.

And so Deathstroke watcked Ravager while he was busy with a smaller job, simple assassination. He approached him after the kid exited the building, wanting to talk. Initially, Grant was over the moon with having met his hero. But once Slade removed his mask, Grant went nuts.

"YOU?! No...this has to be some kind of trick. YOU'RE Deathstroke?!"

"Grant, please, listen to me!"

"Piss off, old man! How many times do I need to tell you to leave me and Joey alone?! I don't need you in my life!"

"Then why do you want to follow in my footsteps?!"

"Because Deathstroke is a legend! You're just a sad, old man who can't even keep his family together! I worshipped the Terminator, not you!" Slade knew he was fighting a losing battle, but he didn't want Grant to go down this road. The last time Slade had gotten involved with a man like Darkh, Joey had been kidnapped. Deathstroke was there to save him, but he was a split-second too late, as Jericho's throat had been slit. He was alive, he just couldn't speak. He didn't want Grant to make the same mistakes as him, but it didn't seem like he was giving him much choice. Ravager ditched Slade and planned his attack on the team. Slade had no way of reaching Dick or the team, and so he just kept an eye on Grant in between other jobs. Once he got an alert that Ravager was making his move on the team, Slade hopped into his jet and followed suit. He was going to stop Grant from making a big mistake, no matter what.

I know this chapter was mostly just exposition, but I wanted to just get this all out of the way for the next chapter. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions for chapters you wanna see. Next chapter up soon.
